The Frame also features increased photo storage space from 500 megabytes in 2020 to 6 gigabytes in 2021, so you can store up to 1,200 photos (all) in UHD quality. In 2021, there are new ways to customise the Frame itself—from new mounting options like the Slim Fit Wall Mount to five bezel options and more from third party providers. Additionally, we have made the 2021 Frame slimmer than ever: just 24.9 millimetres thick, about the same depth as an actual picture frame. It’s just as appealing off as when it’s on.

Samsung is also offering a new way to display the 2021 Frame, with My Shelf, a new accessory releasing globally later this year that lets you create a tailored wall with personal touches to complement your screen and décor. My Shelf can be attached to the 55-inch, 65-inch, and 75-inch Frame sizes, and will be available in four different colours: beige, white, brown, and black.

For those who miss the movie theatre experience, The Premiere, the industry’s first triple laser projector with 4K resolution, represents the next stage in home cinema—all in a compact package. Traditional beam projectors can be clunky and difficult to set up—and even if they offer a big screen, the resolution is sometimes far below an ordinary TV. The Premiere’s minimalist design, with rounded edges and a fabric finish, fits neatly into any home. To help consumers use the Premiere anywhere in their home, we are going to be offering rollable screens optimised for the Premiere later this year on Samsung.com. Just position the Premiere around 5 inches or further from a monotone wall or ALR screen, and break out the popcorn.

In 2020, the relevance of the monitor at home changed dramatically. For many, this meant additional screens for multiple needs. Suddenly, a screen that was used to shop online or surf social media became critical to daily life, as consumers used it to make the most of work, school, and play.

Powered by Samsung’s proprietary Quantum Processor, the 2019 QLED TV line-up features more screen size options, stunning picture quality enhancements, dazzling colours from every angle, exciting new design elements and intuitive smart TV upgrades.

A More Pristine Picture

The 2019 Q80 and Q90 feature ‘Ultra Viewing Angle’ technology, which restructures the TV’s panels so the backlight passes through the panel with lights evenly onto the screen. Engineered to reduce glare and enhance colour, Ultra Viewing Angle provides a vibrant picture regardless of the viewing position. In addition, Q70, Q80, and Q90 models offer Direct Full Array technology that uses a panel featuring concentrated zones of precision-controlled LEDs. A More Intelligent Quantum Processor

Q900 Series 8K TVs incorporate Samsung’s proprietary Quantum Processor 8K, which up-scales lower resolution content to stunningly crisp 8K while also allowing for playback of native 8K content. This year’s models also utilise the Quantum Processor 8K that optimises audio and video to the specific content on the screen. JOHANNESBURG, South Africa, 20 April 2018 – Interior design isn’t just about placing a few pieces of furniture in a room – there needs to be enough space to move around comfortably. The proportions of a room in relation to the pieces in it make a person feel either comfortable or unsettled. According to Gestalt Psychology^[i], although the human eyes take in separate pieces of information, the brain merges those pieces into a singular, simpler pattern that’s recognisable. This means that a room is seen as a whole before details begin to emerge. Balanced or symmetrical designs are easier for the brain to recognise and are therefore perceived to be more comfortable.

In order create symmetry in a room, interior designers look to creating a functional focal point. For example, in a TV room, the obvious functional focal point will be the screen. Where other furniture and design elements are placed, as well as their relative proportion to the screen, will influence how a person feels in the room.^[ii]

Mike van Lier, Director of Consumer Electronics for Samsung South Arica, says, “Ever since TV became a must-have piece of furniture, interior designers have been faced with the conundrum of how to integrate or hide the set to fit with the interior theme. But now that’s no longer a problem because Samsung’s innovative technology has created televisions that can be hung flush to a wall, such as the Samsung QLED with No-Gap Wall Mount, or the exceptional Frame with changeable bezels, artwork displays and motion detection.”

Even though the problem of where to put the television has been solved, there’s still the question of which size is best for the room. Men all around the world believe that bigger is better – but they may not be right. When it comes to TV, there’s a science to choosing the best television size for the room it’s in. The rule of thumb is that the larger the screen, the further away you need to be to fully experience it. Here are the optimal distances^[iii]:

• 24 inches – 1.8 metres;
• 32 inches – 2.1 metres;
• 40-43 inches – 2.4 metres;
• 48-50 inches – 2.7 metres;
• 55 inches – 3.4 metres;
• 60 inches – 4 metres; and
• 65+ inches – 4.3 metres.
