Odyssey OLED Series: Visual Excellence With New Burn-In Prevention Features

The 2024 Odyssey OLED models expand Samsung’s offerings of next-generation OLED performance with the new Odyssey OLED G6 (G60SD model).

The Odyssey OLED G6 is a 27” QHD (2560 x 1440) resolution monitor, supporting a 16:9 aspect ratio. Its 360Hz refresh rate and 0.03ms GtG response time make it easy for gamers to keep up with fast-moving gameplay.

The new OLED model features Samsung OLED Safeguard+, a new proprietary burn-in protection technology. This technology is one of the first in the world to prevent burn-in by applying a pulsating heat pipe to the monitor.

Additionally, the Dynamic Cooling System evaporates and condenses a coolant to diffuse heat five times more effectively than the older graphite sheet method, which prevents burn-in by reducing temperature at the core. The monitor also detects static images like logos and taskbars, automatically reducing their brightness to provide another means of burn-in prevention ^[2]

The OLED G6 delivers excellent OLED picture quality with a brightness of 250 nits (Typ.), while FreeSync Premium Pro keeps the GPU and display panel synced up to eliminate choppiness, screen lag and screen tearing.

Samsung’s new OLED Glare Free technology ^[3] also preserves color accuracy and reduces reflections while maintaining image sharpness to ensure an immersive viewing experience, even in daylight. The OLED-optimized, low-reflection coating overcomes the trade-off between gloss and reflection thanks to a new, specialized hard-coating layer and surface coating pattern.

The OLED G6  monitor features a super slim metal design that gives them a distinct identity, while Core Lighting+ enhances entertainment and gaming experiences with ambient lighting that synchronizes with the screen. The ergonomic stand also makes long sessions more comfortable with adjustable height, plus tilt and swivel support.

The new Odyssey OLED monitor is the next entry to expand Samsung’s OLED monitor market leadership. Their release comes after Samsung achieved the top position in global sales in the OLED monitor market within only one year of launching its first OLED model ^[4] This achievement underscores Samsung’s rapid ascent in the competitive landscape of OLED monitors while reinforcing its commitment to diversifying its gaming monitor lineup with models that leverage the company’s proprietary OLED technology.

Smart Monitor M8: AI Processing for Crystal Clear Video and Audio

The updated Smart Monitor lineup brings together a complete multi-device experience into one hub for smarter entertainment and greater productivity. The upgraded 2024 models include the M8 (M80D model), currently available, and the M7 (M70D model) which will be launched later in the year.

The upgraded 32” 4K UHD Smart Monitor M8 introduces new features powered by AI with the NQM AI processor, taking entertainment experiences to the next level. AI upscaling brings lower resolution content up to nearly 4K ^[5], and Active Voice Amplifier Pro uses AI to analyze background noise in the user’s environment to optimize dialogue in the user’s content ^[6] 360 Audio Mode ^[7] is available on the M8, which pairs with Galaxy Buds to create an immersive sound environment. The built-in SlimFit Camera also makes it easy to conduct video calls through mobile applications with Samsung Dex ^[8]

New to the entire line of Smart Monitors is a Workout Tracker ^[9] which pairs with a Galaxy Watch to enable real-time health data on the screen, even while streaming content. This makes it easier to track workout goals and can make working out more enjoyable.

These new features enhance the already impressive Smart Monitor functionality. Smart TV apps and Samsung TV Plus ^[10] provide instant access to a wide range of streaming services and live content, without needing to boot up a PC or connect to other devices ^[11]

The M7 will be available in 32” with 4K UHD (3840 x 2160) resolution, a brightness of 300 nits (Typ.) and a gray to gray (GtG) response time of 4ms.

Samsung has announced its latest Smart Monitor series, the M8, featuring an upgraded, stylish design. The versatile new M8 delivers Samsung’s iconic slim design in four new colours — Warm White, Sunset Pink, Daylight Blue and Spring Green — available in 32-inches with UHD resolution and a SlimFit Cam.

First launched in November 2020, Samsung’s Smart Monitor series is a family of incredibly-versatile do-it-all screens designed for modern day users who demand a product that offers both functionality and entertainment at home. Not only being a traditional monitor, but the M8 also allows users to enjoy a variety of OTT services,¹ including Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+ and Apple TV via Wi-Fi without having to connect to a PC or TV.

When it comes to style, the Smart Monitor M8 offers both space and work efficiency in an ultra-stylish design. The thinness of the new model is 11.4mm, about three-quarters slimmer than the previous models.

Featuring a sophisticated flat-back design, the M8’s range of colours developing on stylish warm white complements any environment based on the user’s personal preferences.

When it comes to productivity, the Smart Monitor M8 has it all. The M8 provides a perfect home office environment without using a PC by connecting to various IT devices through the upgraded Smart Hub. The Workspace User Interface offers all services needed to work on one screen, helping users wirelessly connect to a Windows or Mac PC and efficiently use an extensive range of useful features, including Samsung DeX, Apple AirPlay 2 and Microsoft 365² cloud service, as well as mirroring content from smartphone to the M8.

On top of that, the Smart Monitor M8 has a magnetic and removable SlimFit Cam that can attach to the monitor while keeping desk space neat without any unsightly wires. The SlimFit Cam also features Face Tracking and Auto Zoom functions, swiftly identifying a person’s face when on screen and automatically focusing on the subject. In other words, it can follow and capture an individual speaker, a perfect option for active presentation or livestreaming.

The Smart Monitor M8 has an IoT hub called SmartThings Hub, where users can connect all their IoT devices wirelessly. The SmartThings app allows users to track IoT devices throughout the house easily with the app’s intuitive control panel highlighting all information provided by other devices connected to the M8, including light switch and plug power.³

Equipped with a high-sensitivity Far Field Voice microphone, the assistant controls devices such as Bixby and Amazon Alexa⁴ using voice commands. Additionally, the microphone uses an Always On Voice function, displaying conversation information on screen when Bixby is activated, even if the monitor screen is turned off.

To accompany the monitor’s wide array of features, the display offers adaptive picture technology, enhancing viewer comfort by automatically adjusting display brightness and colour temperature. The M8 also includes a height adjustable stand (HAS) and tilt functionality, allowing users to find the perfect position for every project, movie night or study session.
