JOHANNESBURG, South Africa, 27 March 2018 – Water is a hot topic currently with Cape Town on the verge of a major crisis and the devastating effects of wasting

JOHANNESBURG, South Africa, 27 March 2018 – Water is a hot topic currently with Cape Town on the verge of a major crisis and the devastating effects of wasting water being brought to the fore. The World Health Organisation indicates that a minimum of 7.5 litres per person per day will meet the requirements of most people, under most conditions. But, that’s just basic survival. A further 20 litres per person per day is needed to take care of basic hygiene. Laundry and bathing will require more than that. The average toilet uses nine litres per flush, an amount that’s not required every time.

Saving water doesn’t have to negatively impact hygiene levels. Being mindful of how you use water and embracing technology will help to drastically reduce daily water consumption. Washing dishes is a great case in point. A study conducted in Germany found that people who washed dishes by hand used on average 49 litres of water, as opposed to dishwashers that used only 13 litres for the same number of dishes. Additionally, the dishes washed in a machine were cleaner than those washed by hand.

Samsung have a range of dishwashers that ensure energy and water consumption is highly efficient. One of the innovations created is WaterWall, which comprises a wall at the bottom of the machine made up of six high-intensity nozzles and a moving bar that deflects the jets upwards and at different angles. This is a complete departure from the conventional rotating spray.

Mike van Lier, Director of Consumer Electronics, Samsung south Africa, says, “Saving both energy and water is essential in today’s world. Water is an incredibly precious resource and we have addressed this in numerous ways by embedding smart technology into our domestic appliances.”

Additional features that are offered by Samsung’s range of dishwashers include the Auto Wash Cycle, which uses a turbidity sensor that identifies when to stop once the water is free from food particles. The Zone Booster allows greater flexibility with two cleaning zones on the lower rack, with water pressure and temperature controls ensuring a perfectly clean load every time. Another feature that adds convenience is the Auto Door Open that opens the door once the rinse and dry process ends, allowing steam to escape, ensuring cleaned dishes don’t emerge streaked.

“Samsung’s research and development centres on creating innovative products that enhance customer’s lives. Our range of dishwashers are all embedded with exceptional technology that assist in saving energy, water and time,” concludes van Lier.
