In a big year for football, Samsung Electronics Australia teamed up with Australian football legend Archie Thompson to explore how Samsung’s latest flagship phone, Galaxy S26 Ultra, can inspire Australians on and off the field with its cutting-edge camera technology. Featuring local football club, Sutherland Sharks FC, Samsung’s ‘Ultra Field Test’, shows how everyday Australians have the opportunity to help reduce drama on and off the field, using Galaxy S26 Ultra as a pocked-sized video assistant referee (VAR).

With almost 3 million children[1] participating in organised sport each year, sideline opinions and parents filming the action on their phone have become part of the grassroots sporting experience. With so many eyes on every call, it’s no surprise that decisions can spark debate. In fact, recent research commissioned by Samsung found that 2 in 3 Aussie sports fans (66%)[2] have argued with friends or family over refereeing decisions, while 41%[3] have even witnessed arguments between parents. However, while most (69%)[4] believe that technology can improve refereeing decisions, tools like VAR often remain out of reach at community-level football.

Capturing all the action using Samsung’s Galaxy S26 Ultra, the ‘Ultra Field Test’ aims to show how it could help observers make close calls with its powerful zoom and slow-motion video playback capabilities. Spectators can both capture, and also review key moments in real time, helping to bring clarity to key decisions, reduce contested calls and ease pressure on and off the field.

Sutherland Sharks FC players look at the action replay on the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra

Drawing on his experience at the professional level, Archie Thompson, said the test highlights how introducing mobile technology can help support sporting codes at grassroots levels.

“When VAR was first introduced about a decade ago, I had my doubts about how it could impact the flow of the game. At the professional level, whether it was playing for Australia or in the national league, there were always multiple cameras and officials to help make the right call. But it’s completely different at grassroots level. Refs have to make calls without the help of VAR tech – with players, coaches and parents all watching – that’s where the tension can build quickly. What stood out to me is how something as simple as instant slow-motion replay helped diffuse that pressure – it gave the refs more confidence and kept everyone focused on what actually mattered – the game!”

Nathan Rigger, Head of Product, Mobile eXperience at Samsung Electronics Australia said the test highlighted how Samsung’s superior mobile and camera technology can be used to meet the everyday interests of Australians.

“For many parents, supporting their kids at Saturday sports is about being present in the moment and capturing key memories. Whether it’s a stunning goal or a match-winning save, the Galaxy S26 Ultra is designed to capture these moments perfectly. With features like Space Zoom, Audio Eraser, and Horizontal Lock, you can relive those memories over and over again.”

Drawing on his own experience on the sideline, Thompson said parents can benefit from the features on the Galaxy S26 Ultra to capture match day memories. Super Steady[5] with horizontal lock can keep fast-paced action smooth, while features such as Audio Eraser[6] removes unwanted background noise when reviewing match footage, while the first-of-its-kind Privacy Display[7] feature ensures parents and fans’ screens are kept discreet even when used in a large crowd.

While sideline debates may never fully disappear, the ‘Ultra Field Test’ shows how technology in your pocket plays a role in supporting local community sports and helping to keep sideline drama at bay.

Ultra Field Test was filmed exclusively on Galaxy S26 Ultra.

Image simulated for illustrative purposes.

Samsung Australia has today announced the expansion of its lifestyle AV portfolio, with its popular The Frame TV now available in an ultra-large 98-inch screen size, and the new 27-inch Movingstyle Portable Smart Touch Screen rolling out across Australia. The latest additions to Samsung’s 2026 AV lineup offer next generation home entertainment devices that blend reliable picture quality with flexible functionality, and customisable designs.

These new TV additions from Samsung arrive as insights reveal Australians are driving demand for lifestyle-first display technologies. According to Samsung insights, Australians have more The Frame Art TVs in their homes per-capita than any other market in the world while also buying more 75-inch TVs than any other country in the southern hemisphere[1]. With 63% of Australians claiming they want the technology in their home to suit their personal style[2], The Frame 98-inch and 27-inch Movingstyle reflect a growing appetite for screens that deliver both immersive viewing experiences and seamless integration in modern living spaces.

“The TV has long been the heart of the Australian home. Samsung has spent decades reimagining what a TV looks like and how it adapts to individual circumstances to offer Australians solutions that thrive in various living spaces,” said Simon Howe, Director of Audio Visual, Samsung Australia.

“Throughout this time, Australians have told us that they love big screens that their friends and family can gather around to share special moments. They enjoy access to world-class art that complements their tastes and elevates home decor. Further, Australians see value in screens that can support the whole family with their work, learning, and entertainment needs. With the 98-inch The Frame and Movingstyle, we’re delivering on these preferences, providing a new ultra-large Art TV option and a portable touchscreen TV that can follow your family around the house so you can live, work and play your way.”

Pictured: Samsung’s 98-inch The Frame.
Museum-level presence. Now in 98 Inches

The new 98-inch The Frame 4K QLED TV is the largest dedicated Art TV canvas Samsung has ever brought to Australia, joining the recently launched The Frame lineup comprising 43-inch to 85-inch options.

Designed to blend seamlessly into contemporary Australian homes, the 98-inch The Frame sports a sleek, modern design with a width measuring 30.9mm. It also comes with a new Amber Brown bezel and Slim Fit Wall Mount included in-box for a near-flush mounted finish.

With access to Samsung Art Store’s curated collection of over 5,000 world famous artworks[3], the 98-inch The Frame delivers incredible picture quality and lifelike colour with PANTONE Validated® certification[4]. Art Streams allows non-subscription owners to discover new pieces through via a regularly updated collection of artwork curated from leading artists and institutions[5]. Coated in Samsung’s most advanced Glare-Free technology[6], The Frame is designed to reduce reflections even in bright indoor lighting to help ensure art and TV content is delivered with clarity and beautifully true to life.

True to The Frame series, this 98-inch model features a Brightness Sensor[7] that auto-adjusts the screen’s brightness and colour tone to retain the artwork’s original look as well as a motion sensor[8] that automatically turns on to display artwork when someone enters the room. To help customise to individual tastes, 98-inch The Frame offers five mat layouts and 16 colours to help make art look more realistic – including personal photography and family portraits uploaded via a compatible Samsung smartphone or USB drive[9].

The Movingstyle features a rollable floor stand with hidden wheels[10], allowing its fully portable 27” QHD touchscreen to move from different locations at home.

Samsung Electronics Australia premiered its Sky Portal film during a spectacular aerial stunt above Sydney Harbour. During golden hour yesterday, as the sun was just about to set, the Sky Portal screen was lifted high above the harbour to showcase a collaborative film shot entirely with Galaxy S26 devices. Co-created with the people of Sydney and Team Galaxy photographers Benjamin Lee and Tim Northey, the project reimagines the Galaxy S26 series as a window into a more vivid, connected world.

The Sky Portal – an 8m by 2.5m screen weighing over a tonne – was airlifted from a barge at Farm Cove and flown 150m above the Sydney Harbour by a Huey helicopter. Produced in partnership with INVNT, the five-minute film along was followed by a choreographed display of pyrotechnics, visuals, and sound, drew the attention of crowds around the harbour, creating a shared moment for onlookers.

Eric Chou, Vice President of Mobile eXperience at Samsung Australia said, “Last night’s Sky Portal flight above Sydney Harbour was a defining moment, not just for Samsung, but for everyone who looked up and saw a piece of themselves reflected in the film. We really wanted to show Sydney’s story through the eyes of its people, and seeing those moments, captured with Galaxy, flying above one of the world’s most iconic harbours, was truly breathtaking.”

The film captures a snapshot of 24 hours in Sydney — showing how everyday moments come together to reveal a city full of possibility. After receiving thousands of user-generated content submissions from the public, the film features curated footage from across the city including iconic beaches, suburban shots, and urban city landscapes through the lens of local Sydneysiders.

For film co-creators Benjamin Lee and Tim Northey, the project also demonstrated the incredible capabilities of Samsung’s latest flagship device.

“We’ve come a long way with technology where an S26 Ultra in my pocket is powerful enough to capture high quality cinematic moments on a whim,” said Lee. “Gone are the days of having to carry huge overbearing camera equipment.”

Northey added, “Capturing the best of Sydney with the Galaxy S26 Ultra was such a seamless experience thanks to the quality and versatility of the camera. For a shoot like this, having that level of capability in a device that fits in your pocket gives you the freedom to leave heavier gear behind and just focus on capturing the moment.”

The aerial premiere forms part of Samsung’s broader Sky Portal experience in Sydney.

Extending the experience beyond the skies, Samsung’s Sky Portal Studio is located at First Fleet Park in The Rocks. Developed in partnership with INVNT, the activation invites visitors to step into a series of immersive, curated portals and capture their own moments using the premium camera features of the Galaxy S26 Ultra.

Samsung’s Sky Portal Studio is free to experience during Vivid Sydney from 22 May to 13 June at First Fleet Park. Lights will be on from 6pm to 11pm each night.

The film is now available to view below and on Samsung Australia’s YouTube channel.

The TV plays a defining role at the heart of modern homes. It’s where people come together, shaping the mood for movie nights, offering background comfort in quiet moments, and anchoring the room when friends gather. As the TV is always visible and always present, it is expected to do more than entertain. It needs to be immersive when the moment calls for it, and seamlessly present when not in use.

When expectations rise, so must streaming quality. Picture clarity, colour accuracy and immersion have become essential — and movie night is when those demands are at their highest.

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. today announced a new collaboration with MUNCH to add iconic artworks by Edvard Munch to Samsung Art Store. The digital collection makes 37 masterpieces such as “The Scream,” “The Dance of Life” and “Melancholy” — as well as several rare works from the museum’s collection — available to millions of users around the world.

“Samsung creates products that inspire people and help them express themselves through design and culture,” said Tommy Nilsson, TV & Audio Director at Samsung Nordics. “With Samsung Art Store, we make world-class art available to millions of people, and through this collaboration with MUNCH, we are bringing an important part of European artistic heritage into people’s homes.”

Samsung Art Store Opens Up MUNCH Archives

Two People at Table (1936-1942) on The Frame Pro.

Alongside Munch’s iconic masterpieces, the collection offers a more intimate view of Edvard Munch’s artistry with rarely seen works such as “Garden with Trees” and “Two People at Table.” These works are part of a collection of treasures preserved in the museum’s archives, many of which must be kept in carefully controlled environments to protect them from further deterioration. Their condition makes them too vulnerable for public display, even at the museum in Oslo.

“This collaboration is an exciting opportunity to share Edvard Munch’s art with audiences beyond the museum’s walls in Oslo,” said Tone Hansen, Director of MUNCH. “Through Samsung’s global reach and Art TV technology, we can make Munch’s work more accessible to people around the world, and we are incredibly honored to collaborate with Samsung on this meaningful initiative.”

The collection will be exclusively available on Samsung’s Art TV lineup through Samsung Art Store, providing users with a close look at Munch’s private world by allowing them to explore and display the artist’s hidden gems at home.

Samsung brings the 19.5kg Bespoke AI Laundry Combo to Australia. Image simulated for illustrative purposes. Cables not shown.Samsung Australia has today announced the local availability of its ultra-large capacity 2026 Bespoke AI Laundry Combo, introducing Samsung’s largest capacity all-in-one washer and dryer to Australian homes. The refreshed one-stop laundry solution combines a 19.5kg smart washer and 10kg heat-pump dryer and provides an upgrade to Samsung’s all-in-one laundry range that supports more comfortable lifestyles by eliminating the need to transfer laundry between separate machines.

Featuring an upgraded AI Wash & Dry + cycle, 10 Star Energy Rating Hybrid Heat Pump drying performance[1], and a 68 minute Super Speed cycle[2], the 2026 Bespoke AI Laundry Combo is designed to help Australian households unlock time and energy savings, while delivering a more convenient connected home experience[3].

“At Samsung, we’re focused on developing intelligent home appliances that respond to the real needs of Australian households,” said Phil Gaut, Director – Consumer Electronics, Samsung Australia. “Our insights show that a third of Australians complete three or more loads of laundry each week, with washing demands expected to increase during the cooler months[4]. That’s why features designed to make everyday life easier are becoming increasingly important, from Auto Open Door+, which helps reduce lingering odours after a wash cycle, to hands-free Bixby voice commands that let users keep managing chores while multitasking, and AI Energy Mode, which can help reduce unnecessary household energy costs.

“The new Bespoke AI Laundry Combo is designed to help ease household pressures by combining fast wash-to-dry cycles, intelligent energy optimisation, and ultra-large capacity in one connected appliance, helping Australians spend less time on laundry and more time doing what they love.”

Faster Full Cycles, Enhanced Drying and Smarter Care

Following the debut of the 2024 Bespoke AI Heat Pump Combo, the 2026 ultra-large capacity Bespoke AI Laundry Combo brings fresh upgrades that shorten wash-to-dry cycles and enhance drying performance. Under certain conditions, the Super Speed cycle can complete a full wash-to-dry cycle in 68 minutes, helping Australians reduce total laundry time without compromising performance[5].

Super Speed leverages a high-pressure Speed Spray and Swirl+ Drum that helps detergent penetration and rinsing to enable fast and efficient washing, while the newly incorporated Booster Heat Exchanger delivers drying performance using Heat Pump technology.

To promote smarter care, AI Energy Mode via SmartThings[6] helps the 2026 Bespoke AI Laundry Combo consume up to 20% less energy during the wash cycle and up to 10% less energy during the dry cycle when compared to using the same cycle without AI Energy Mode[7]. By using the SmartThings App[8] Australians can also easily monitor energy consumption in real-time, provide an estimated electricity bill, and alert users if the estimated usage exceeds pre-set consumption targets.

Bespoke AI Laundry Combo (WD90H19AHSSA) now available in Australia. Image simulated for illustrative purposes. Cables not shown.

Upgraded AI Wash & Dry + Enables More Precise, Automatic Optimisation

At the core of the all-in-one experience, the 2026 Bespoke AI Laundry Combo integrates AI Wash & Dry +[9], upgrading the intelligence that supports smart optimisation of washing & drying. Using enhanced sensing and AI-based analysis, AI Wash & Dry + uses multiple sensors to optimise performance for each load. It detects the weight to determine the right amount of water and detergent, identifies five fabric types for smaller laundry loads[10] – including Outdoor and Denim – and monitors soil levels in real time to adjust the cycle for better results with less manual input.

The 2026 Bespoke AI Laundry Combo also features Auto Open Door+[11], which not only automatically opens the door, but also activates internal air circulation[12] after wash-only cycles to help prevent laundry left in the drum from developing a musty odour.

A More Advanced Bixby Brings Natural, Conversational Control to the Home

The 2026 Bespoke AI Laundry Combo also features a more advanced Bixby[13] experience. Since 2024, Bixby has enabled Bespoke Combo users to monitor and control connected Samsung devices directly from its AI Home Touchscreen display[14], helping families handle everyday routines across the home. While loading laundry, a user could say, “turn on the TV in the living room” without needing to leave the laundry area.

Now, with improved understanding capabilities, Bixby goes beyond fixed commands to understand natural, conversational requests. For example, users can simply say, “can you wash this before 11pm?” or “start a normal wash, but add an extra rinse,” and Bixby will carry out the request.

Supporting Bespoke AI Combo’s favourite features

The 2026 Bespoke AI Combo is packed with popular Samsung laundry features including Flex Auto Dispense which holds enough detergent and softener for up to 22 loads,[15] BubbleWash and BubbleSoak for efficient cleaning even at low temperatures, and Samsung’s Less Microfiber Laundry cycle which minimises garment agitation to help reduce the amount of microfibers released[16].

Backed by Samsung’s 7-year commitment to software updates on flagship products,[17] the 2026 Bespoke AI Combo will stay up to date with the latest features, performance improvements, system upgrades and enhanced security, keeping it reliable, valuable and future-ready for years to come. The 2026 model is protected by Knox technology to keep data safe and has received the highest Diamond level IoT Rating[18] by UL Solutions[19], while being supported by Home Appliance Remote Management (HRM)[20] enables remote troubleshooting to resolve problems without a service visit. The culmination of these features enables Australians to experience less downtime and long-lasting reliability from Samsung.

Samsung Electronics Australia returns as a Major Partner of Vivid Sydney, this year bringing to life its interactive Sky Portal Studio activation. Located in First Fleet Park in The Rocks, this unmissable, three-portal installation offers visitors a glimpse into a version of the world that is more vivid, more connected, and more alive than the one you see with your eyes alone.

The experiential activation is designed for high impact, and invites festivalgoers to step inside a moment unlike any other. Guests will discover a series of curated Sky Portal frames that encourages them to capture moments of creativity, movement, joy, connection and curiosity with the extraordinary camera capabilities of Samsung’s flagship Galaxy S26 Ultra.

Vivid Sydney Festival Director Brett Sheehy AO, said of this year’s installation: “Samsung is an important partner of Vivid Sydney, and we value their ongoing commitment to innovation and evolving how audiences engage with the festival. What excites me most about Sky Portal Studio is how it invites festivalgoers to move from spectators into creators – capturing and expressing their own unique perspective of the world around them.”

Eric Chou, Vice President of Mobile eXperience at Samsung Australia said: “We’re excited to be back at Vivid Sydney. It’s the intersection of art and technology where Samsung truly comes alive, and this year’s actiavation exemplifies that. The Sky Portal Studio is an unmissable installation that invites every visitor to view the world differently, and to capture their vision through the lens of Galaxy S26 Ultra.”

Starting Friday 22 May at 6pm, Sky Portal Studio visitors will be guided through an interactive, multi-portal experience.

Defy Gravity Portal: Attendees will be able to capture steady, gravity defying content against a customisable colourful LED background, and spin the wheel for a unique visual effect. Horizontal lock[1] helps keeps the footage super steady, thanks to Galaxy S26 Ultra’s gyroscope and accelerometer, allowing users to capture level, stabilised content.

Unleash your Creativity Portal: The second portal offers people the chance to curate their own dream image. With Photo Assist[2], a blank canvas becomes whatever you can imagine, whether it’s changing outfits or locations, or adding, removing or resizing objects.

Infinite Possibilities Portal: Guests can effortlessly take photos of themselves with a wave of their hand using Galaxy’s hands-free Palm Selfie feature.

The final stop in this immersive experience is the Creative Studio, where participants will be able to further edit the content they have captured in the portals to create or edit their ideal images.

Until 10 June, Sydneysiders (and visitors) will also have the opportunity to enter[3] to be part of a collaborative film capturing 24 hours in Sydney through the eyes of its people, turning everyday moments into a city-scale spectacle. Each moment is a small perspective, but together, they real something bigger – a city full of possibility and the extraordinary in the everyday.

Cinematic or still content must be shot on a Galaxy device, and visitors to the Sky Portal Studio will be encouraged to submit their content. Each entry submitted comes with the chance to win 1 of 3 Samsung gift packs valued at over $3,200, which includes a 32” The Frame Art TV, Galaxy S26 Ultra, and Galaxy Buds4.
