Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. today announced the integration of Eclipsa Audio — an innovative 3D audio technology developed in partnership with Google — into its 2025 TV and soundbar lineup. By empowering creators to craft dynamic, immersive audio content and enabling seamless playback on Samsung TVs, Eclipsa Audio brings captivating audio and visual experiences closer to consumers than ever before.

“We are proud to lead the industry with the integration of Eclipsa Audio into our 2025 TV and soundbar lineup,” said Taeyong Son, Executive Vice President and Head of the R&D Team, Visual Display Business, Samsung Electronics. “This innovation opens new possibilities for immersive audio experiences and reinforces our commitment to shaping the future of home entertainment.”

Innovating the Home Entertainment Experience

Samsung, the global leader in the TV market for 18 consecutive years[1], is redefining home entertainment with the integration of Eclipsa Audio. With the largest market share over 75 inches worldwide, Samsung TVs are poised to make this innovative technology accessible to more consumers than ever before.

Eclipsa Audio allows creators to adjust audio data such as the location and intensity of sounds, along with spatial reflections, to create an immersive three-dimensional sound experience.

As the first in the industry to adopt Eclipsa Audio, Samsung is integrating the technology across its 2025 TV lineup — from the Crystal UHD series to the premium flagship Neo QLED 8K models — to ensure that consumers who want to experience this advanced technology can choose from a wide range of options.

Expanding Content and Playback

Starting in 2025, creators will be able to upload videos with Eclipsa Audio tracks to YouTube. Viewers with 2025 Samsung devices will be able to watch YouTube videos with premium spatial audio when available.

To ensure consistent audio quality, Samsung and Google are working with the Telecommunications Technology Association (TTA) to create a certification program for devices using Eclipsa Audio, ensuring that consumers experience the highest standards of sound fidelity.

“We believe that Eclipsa Audio has the potential to change the way we experience sound,” said Jim Bankoski, Vice President of Engineering, Google Chrome. “We are excited to see how the creator community uses it to create new and innovative audio experiences.”

The availability of Samsung TVs and soundbars featuring Eclipsa Audio in Australia has not yet been announced.

Samsung Electronics Australia has today released its Summer Viewing Report, which unveils new research into how Australians will be embracing television

Samsung Electronics Australia has today released its Summer Viewing Report, which unveils new research into how Australians will be embracing television viewing over the summer holiday period, with 94% of the nation set to watch movies from the comfort of their home during this time.

The report[1] commissioned by Samsung found that average person intends to watch 6 movies and 4.3 shows throughout the summer season, with the majority embracing the holiday spirit with Christmas movies, tuning into the big sporting moments, and binge-watching iconic TV shows.

With a screen for every Australian lifestyle, passion, and living space, Samsung’s TV range delivers big screen premium viewing and gaming experiences, while incorporating more personalisation options, and smart home connectivity.

“As Australians seek meaningful moments at home, we’ve seen the TV take centre stage and become the focal point for shared traditions – from bringing the family together for their favourite film, to connecting friends as they watch their sporting teams battle it out.

Our insights show that TVs are more than entertainment units, and at Samsung, we’re proud to play a part in redefining the landscape by making big screen experiences accessible, intuitive and personalised to Australians. Whether it’s the cinematic grandeur of a 98-inch screen or the versatility of outdoor and Lifestyle TVs, our line-up caters to every preference, all whilst delivering impeccable big screen picture and sound quality,” said Simon Howe, Director of Audio Visual, Samsung Electronics Australia.

Streaming into the Holiday Spirit

With the festive season fast approaching, Australians are preparing to deck the halls with households across the nation settling into the holidays by watching their favourite festive films. Three in five (64%) Australians say it doesn’t feel like Christmas without watching a “Christmas movie”, and over two-thirds (67%) of the nation plan to watch at least one festive movie in the lead up to 25 December.

For 44% of Australians, it is a tradition to watch the same Christmas movie every year with loved ones. In fact, Australians have watched their favourite festive flick 8.8 times on average. According to the report, Home Alone is Australia’s most popular holiday movie (15%), edging out the lead over Elf (9%), and followed by The Grinch (8%), Love Actually (7%) and Die Hard (6%). With men being five times more likely to watch Die Hard than women throughout the festive period. Outside of the glow of red and green lights, 47% of Australians admit they watch Christmas movies throughout the year to bring festive cheer to their daily lives.

Screening a Summer of Sports

Down under, summer ushers in a festive blend of Christmas, carols and a love for all things cricket. Samsung’s Summer Viewing Report has found that three in five (59%) Australians planning to watch sports over the holiday period, with cricket the most popular code (30%), followed by tennis (24%) and football/soccer (16%). In fact, one-third (33%) of the nation says they “always watch the Boxing Day Test”.

When it comes to enjoying this season’s major sporting moments, a staggering 97% of Australians plan to tune in from the comfort of their couch or from a mate’s place, and 16% intend to embrace the action from a pub or venue.

Regardless of where they choose to watch, Australians are opting for the best seat in the house, with those tuning in from home embracing big screen TVs, with 42% owning a screen over 60 inches and 11% over 75 inches – putting them right on the side lines so they don’t miss a minute of the action.

And for those, who can’t get enough of this summer of sports, Samsung now offers a huge sporting line up with its Samsung TV plus offering. Launched in 2017, as one of the first FAST (free ad supported television) services in Australia, Samsung TV Plus has steadily expanded its reach and content offering to deliver over 100 channels, with over 17 free premium sports channels available. This includes the world’s first cricket FAST channel, in partnership with Cricket Australia that launched earlier this month. Cricket Gold, bowls fans over with hours of archive footage including classic matches, game highlights and informative documentaries from the Cricket Australia films vault.

Pressing Play on movies and shows

As the nation is typically set to embrace more downtime over the holiday season, two in five (40%) of Australians intend to watch more movies than usual with the average person screening 5.8 films. Conversely, over one in four (27%) Australians plan to watch more TV shows than usual, with the average Australian set to watch 4.3 shows over the summer break.

When it comes to content, Australians are seeking comedic relief, with the most popular genre being comedy (69%), however they also want to be kept on the edge of their seat with drama (51%) taking the second spot, and crime (39%), romance (36%), documentary (34%) and reality (30%) following suit. Over half (52%) of Australians will be looking for something new to watch, while one-quarter (25%) will seek familiar faces and opt to re-watch old favourites such as Friends and The Office.

Aussies take control, one click at a time

When it comes to watching content Australians like to be in the driver’s seat, with 55% of Australians stating they “always like” to be in control of the remote when watching movies or shows with others, whilst 47% prefer to watch TV alone to avoid fights over the remote.

Not only do Australians want to be able to call the shots on what they watch, but they also aren’t shy about being volume maestros either. Almost half of the nation (47%) is hyper-aware of their TV’s volume levels, ensuring this is “always” set to a multiple of 2 or 5. Even numbers are more popular and the preference of over one-third (36%), while 27% prefer a multiple of 5.

Millennials and Gen Z Australians appear to be the most passionate about controlling the TV viewing experience, with the report revealing 62% want to hold the remote and almost half (49%) ensure the volume level is even.

Tuning in on the go and with our nearest and dearest

This summer, Australians are set to take their viewing on the road, into the great outdoors, and beyond. To stay entertained all season long, Australians will be streaming their favourite movies and programs from holiday homes (10%), in transit like on a plane or in the car (6%), and even while camping (4%). Those who own a projector are 43% more likely to be watching TV over the break, likely thanks to the ability to view from anywhere while embracing the warm, summer weather.

TV viewing is both a solo and shared experience, with 48% of the nation often watching their favourite movie with their partner and the same percentage on their own. Women are slightly more inclined to tune in by themselves and gain some much needed down time (50% vs. 45% of men), while gathering the family to watch a movie together remains popular amongst single and couples with kids at home parents nationwide (69% and 60% respectively).

A Screen for Every Experience

With Australians embracing at home TV and movie viewing over the summer period, Samsung’s 2023 AV range offers a screen experience for virtually every Australian lifestyle, passion, and living space.

Samsung Electronics Australia has today unveiled the future of home entertainment, with its most impressive TV portfolio to date.

Debuting in 2021 is the revolutionary Neo QLED range, a completely new innovation from Samsung that delivers the ultimate in picture quality for big screen TVs. Samsung will also launch an expanded QLED 4K line-up and lifestyle TV portfolio with a brand new The Frame.

Samsung, the global leader in TV for 15 consecutive years1, will continue to build on its success in 2021 with its latest range of televisions. From its flagship Neo QLED 8K TV through to its entry level Crystal UHD and lifestyle line-up, the range underscores Samsung’s commitment to delivering the best home entertainment experience at a range of prices and designs to suit every Australian home.

Neo QLED: The pinnacle in big screen TV

Neo QLED delivers a quantum leap in TV display with the flagship 8K (QN900A) and 4K (QN90A) models – pushing the large screen experience to the next dimension through a complete new light source to deliver deep blacks, vibrant colour and incredible sound wrapped in a stunning design.

“What we watch and how we watch it has changed, and as we enter our 15th year as market leader¹, it is our role to continue to provide industry pioneering innovations that is designed for the way we live,” said Jeremy Senior, Vice President of Consumer Electronics, Samsung Australia.

“Neo QLED technology is a game-changer for big screen TVs in Australia, we’ve reengineered how the picture comes to life. We know Australians are buying bigger TVs and that picture quality is the number one consideration for many customers when upgrading, Neo QLED will offer incredible contrast, colour and brightness to deliver an unparalleled viewing experience” continued Mr Senior.

This new technology is taking QLED to the next level enabled by a new light source, Quantum Mini LED, which is precisely controlled by Quantum Matrix Technology and Neo Quantum Processor, a powerful picture processor optimised for Neo QLED.

The exclusive Quantum Mini LED is 1/40 of the thickness of a standard Samsung LED, which is achieved by replacing the traditional Samsung LED module lens with a Micro Layer that allows for more precise light control in a smaller package. The Quantum Matrix Technology then enables ultra-fine and precise control of the densely packed LEDs.

Neo QLED TVs are packed with more light sources than other Samsung LED TVs providing ultimate control in producing a picture quality to elevate the big screen experience.

Samsung’s Neo QLED 8K TV (QN900) will also feature Samsung’s Infinity Design —a nearly bezel-less screen providing an immersive viewing experience in a sleek design and form factor.

The Neo QLED 8K’s attachable Slim One Connect box offers a fresh new design to assist with cable management, it can now be attached to the TVs or sit separately on a cabinet, allowing for an easier install and cleaner aesthetic.

The Neo QLED 8K TV also packs in several premium, room-filling audio features, including Object Tracking Sound (OTS) Pro which offers dynamic sound corresponding to the movement of objects on screen. SpaceFit Sound is designed to analyse the installed TV’s physical environment and output immersive sound tailored specifically to your space at home.*

Pioneering Lifestyle TV Category: A TV design for every home

Samsung continues to reimagine the role of TV in the home and deliver innovative new ways consumers can experience content, art and stunning design in 2021.

Samsung’s extensive lifestyle TV range will see a brand new The Frame, alongside new design forms and software updates across the range. The Frame will feature a significantly slimmer profile, new bezel options and The Art Store continues to add new works, now offering 1,400 pieces from world-renowned galleries, allowing you to transform your home into your own personal gallery.2

Samsung’s award-winning lifestyle product portfolio will continue to range The Premiere, the ultra short throw triple laser 4K smart projector which transcends the at home cinema experience, The Sero, The Serif and The Terrace TV which is built for outdoor entertainment3, delivering 4K QLED picture and Smart TV features.

“As the lifestyles, viewing habits, and home entertainment demands of Australians evolve, so to do the features and technology across our Samsung TV lineup. With near-endless options for customisation, Samsung’s lifestyle TV portfolio continues to redefine the category, how a TV can be used and incorporated beautifully into a home,” explains Jeremy Senior.

Innovations in Sustainability

Samsung’s eco packaging solution will be brought to all TV products to responsibly manage waste created from product purchases by allowing customers to repurpose TV boxes into small-scale pieces of furniture.

The award-winning sustainable packaging design extends to the solar cell-powered remote control, which is predicted to assist in preventing the wastage of around 99 million AAA batteries globally over the course of seven years of TV usage4.

“We will also see the introduction of a sustainable TV remote, partially made out of recycled plastic that will charge via solar or indoor lighting to assist with reduced disposable battery waste.5” explains Jeremy Senior.

Samsung’s 2021 TV range will be available through various retail outlets nationally from Friday 5 March.

Samsung Electronics Australia has today announced the local launch of its 2020 QLED TV range, featuring its most advanced, stylish, and expansive portfolio to date. As a pioneer in 8K technology, Samsung continues its commitment to innovation and making high quality 8K and 4K experiences. With smart AI upscaling, enhanced in-TV audio, and a broad range of large-format panels (over 75-inches), Samsung is offering the ultimate entertainment experience from the comfort of your own home.

Big Screens, More Options, and Smart AI Upscaling

This year’s flagship model, the Q950T, boasts an ultra-thin profile and boundless Infinity Display allowing the picture to etch right to the edge, offering nearly 99 per cent pure screen. The introduction of 85-inch QLED TV models is in response to Australian’s demand for big-screen in-home experiences at a range of price points. Samsung’s AI upscaling is now more advanced than ever with a new Quantum Processor, offering pixel-by-pixel image enhancement, enabling the panel to adapt to the viewer’s favourite content or external environment to deliver an amazing picture.

“Australians continue to demand bigger and better entertainment experiences from the comfort of their homes which is why we’re launching our widest range of TVs that feature the best in immersive visual and audio innovation,” said Hass Mahdi, Director of Audio Visual Division, Samsung Australia. “Along with breaking new ground in QLED 8K and 4K TV innovation, Samsung is also offering more options in design across our lifestyle TV range with new additions to our iconic offerings in The Frame, as well as The Serif, which seeks to transform the traditional role of the TV in the home.”

Innovation in TV Audio Experiences and Soundbar Integration

The 2020 QLED 8K TV range introduces an innovative new Samsung TV audio experience with Object Tracking Sound + (OTS+): an in-panel technology that tracks the on-screen action from scene to scene. This technology emits sound from speakers in the top, bottom and sides of the rear of the TV, and is projected to reflect off nearby surfaces to deliver an incredible immersive experience that puts you right in the middle of the action.

Q-Symphony technology also enables seamless cooperation between this innovative new TV sound technology and Samsung’s Q Series soundbars to deliver an extra layer of richness and audio detail. Q-Symphony technology then synchronises sound between these TVs and Samsung Q Series Soundbars for extra richness and a truly immersive surround sound experience.

“Samsung understands the critical importance of immersion when enjoying the latest TV experiences,” said Mahdi. “We have invested in two new innovations, OTS+ and Q-Symphony, in order to transform the audio experience that our TVs offer both standalone and when used with our latest soundbars.”

Bolstering Samsung’s support for gaming enthusiasts, select QLED TVs also include Dynamic Black Equaliser technology, which is designed to ensure clear visibility in dark scenes; Mobile View

Mode to enable multi-tasking on screen; and AMD Freesync compatibility, which delivers seamless and swift action with low input lag.

The new 2020 range also supports a choice of voice-activated assistants, allowing users to choose their preference between Bixby, Google Assistant or Alexa; while panels starting from the Q70T

offer an advanced new Ambient Mode that enables users to select and search by voice, as well as automatically choose music, video, or a daily ambient routine to match their mood.

Pioneering the Lifestyle TV Category

In addition to this expansive 8K and 4K offering, Samsung is also continuing its commitment to delivering new lifestyle experiences. The Frame, which has the ability to turn its screen into a beautiful piece of artwork when not in use and has three customisable bezels options; brown, beige and white, for seamless integration to blend into the aesthetics of the home. Alongside the existing range of sizes of 55-inch and 43-inch, The Frame now also comes in an expanded offering of 75-inch, 50-inch, and 32-inch. The Frame continues to use Samsung’s QLED technology to offer a stunning picture quality.

Also, Artworks from The Frame’s Art Store can now be selected manually or searched via voice activation, making it easier than ever for to bring a selection of 1,200 artworks to life in their home. The Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec-designed The Serif TV, will also now feature the same updated Smart Hub functionality as the rest of the QLED TV range and will be available in 43-inch and 55-inch models. Samsung also announced an addition to their Lifestyle TV portfolio, The Sero. The Sero, which means “vertical” in Korean, has the ability to pivot between horizontal and vertical orientations – just like a smartphone or tablet. The Sero’s display orientation technology connects seamlessly with users’ mobile devices to smoothly and naturally display content in traditional horizontal formats, as well as vertical formats. Consumers can expect to enjoy a variety of content – including social media, movies and other personal videos – in whatever display orientation mirrors their mobile device.

“As the lifestyles, viewing habits, and home entertainment demands of Australians evolve, so too do the features and technology across our Samsung TV lineup, from the latest big-screen experiences and audio immersion of our new 8K and 4K QLED TVs, to the seamless integration into our homes of our innovative lifestyle TV range, with The Frame, The Serif, and The Sero,” said Mahdi.
