Samsung Electronics Australia has today announced the local availability of the Odyssey Ark 2nd Gen Curved UHD Gaming Monitor (G97NC model), building on the success of its predecessor and offering a range of new features to take gaming to the next level.

Available exclusively from the Samsung Online Store for RRP $3,999, the Odyssey Ark 2nd Gen is set to impress gamers looking for the ultimate big-screen gaming experience.[1]

First launched in 2022, the Odyssey Ark (G97NB) set its mark as the world’s first 55-inch 1000R curved gaming screen, featuring an innovative interface for gamers to enjoy a truly captivating experience when playing games and enjoying content. Significant upgrades including the new Multi View lets users see input from up to four devices at once[2], taking advantage of the monitor’s impressive screen real-estate.

Making immersion stronger than ever before

The Odyssey Ark combines stunning picture quality, a flexible interface and incredible surround sound to create a space for gamers to connect, compete and multi-task during gameplay without missing the most exciting moments. Its lifelike images on the 55-inch screen delivers visuals that can heighten the senses, creating a personal gaming theatre. This is complemented by 1000R curvature[3] to wrap around the field of vision for maximum immersion.

The new rendition includes support for external devices with A DP (DisplayPort) 1.4, which has been added to the Odyssey Ark’s three HDMI ports to increase compatibility and the KVM Switch[4], making the Odyssey Ark a single command station for a smooth multitasking experience across multiple devices.

The Multi View feature has been notably upgraded to establish connectivity and a multi-screen experience for users to split the screen up into four windows (three in Cockpit mode). This upgrade echoes the sentiment of gamers, who have previously enjoyed the immersive experience of Multi View, who can now experience consuming a variety of content, playing multiple games at once, or viewing a handful of documents all through one screen.

Flex Move Screen allows users to change the screen size from 55 to 27 inches, moving the position of the games to any direction it is intended to be in, also allowing gamers to adjust the ratio from 16:9 to 21:9 or 32:9. This can seamlessly be controlled by the Ark Dial, an exclusive controller offering a thrilling opportunity to unlock new possibilities through the world of gaming.

Total of 80 Awards, From Product to UX Design, Including TVs, Home Appliances and Smartphones

Samsung Electronics’ 80 wins across all design categories, including Product and UX, were the most of any nominee at this year’s awards.

Samsung received awards in the Product category for the Odyssey Ark, the world’s first 55-inch 1000R curved gaming screen[4]; the Bespoke Jet, a cordless stick vacuum with an all-in-one Clean Station; and the Galaxy Z Flip4 Bespoke edition, a smartphone that offers customisation experiences by allowing users to design a device that is uniquely theirs.

Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd has released findings from its Southeast Asia and Oceania (SEAO) Gaming Insight Study, which found that 7 in 10 online consumers in the region are gamers. Conducted in partnership with ONE Esports, over 6,800 consumers aged 18 to 49 across seven markets (Australia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam) were surveyed in the last quarter of 2022[1], showing a widespread love for gaming whether at home or on-the-go.

Across the region, playing to de-stress and relax was cited as the top reason for gaming (74%), with an average of 7 hours a week spent on gaming. Most gamers (92%) preferred to engage in gameplay from the comfort of their home, and over half of gamers (58%) were found to spend an average of USD $30 monthly on gaming-related purchases such as exclusive online content, esports tournament tickets, streamer subscription, skins, and merchandise collectibles.

The study identified four distinct gamer personalities among gaming fans in this region – Hardcore Gamers, Gaming Enthusiasts, Casual Gamers & Spectators, as well as Casual Gamers, based on their total time spent playing games and watching gaming or esports content. The study found that more than half of gamers surveyed (56%) indulge in this pastime at least a few times a week, consisting of Hardcore Gamers and Gaming Enthusiasts (See chart below).

Gaming Enthusiasts and Hardcore Gamers are highly vested in their hobby, where their top gaming-related activities include watching gaming videos, discussing gaming with others, reading gaming updates and news, spending money on gaming-related items and lastly, following gaming personalities on social media (see chart below).

The Odyssey Ark was introduced at the Samsung Display Tech Summit 2022 held in Bangkok, Thailand in September 2022.

After its initial launch, the Odyssey Ark took center stage at the Samsung Display Tech Summit 2022 in Bangkok, Thailand. The Odyssey Ark booths, which were built using round pods inspired by the curved screen, attracted visitors’ attention and provided an incredibly immersive experience.

At the Great World Shopping Mall Pop up Roadshow held in Singapore in October 2022, visitors could enjoy a racing game by using the Odyssey Ark.

In addition to captivating visitors at the summit, the Odyssey Ark wowed viewers at Siam Paragon Mall Game Festival Roadshow in Thailand, and the Great World Shopping Mall Pop up Roadshow in Singapore in October.

The screen attracted a lot of attention and introduced the next-generation of gaming, one based on immersion and lead by the Odyssey Ark.

Meeting Gamers Where They Are: Brasil Game Show, PAX West and TwitchCon

The Odyssey Ark was installed at the Brasil Game Show 2022 held in São Paulo from October 6 to 12, 2022.

The Odyssey Ark was also featured at Brasil Game Show 2022, Latin America’s largest gaming show, held in São Paulo in October of this year. The Samsung booth showcased several models, including the Odyssey Ark and Odyssey Neo G9, in experience zones where gamers could see the difference Samsung can make. This was the first public debut of the Odyssey Ark, and it received a lot of fanfare.

Samsung’s tour through Latin America didn’t stop there: In the same month, gamers at the Argentina Game Show 2022 in Buenos Aires were mesmerised by the Odyssey Ark. During the exhibition, more than 100,000 attendees visited Samsung’s booth. Coscu, a famous gamer with more than four million subscribers was the one of them and helped attract more visitors to Samsung’s booth during the event.

With over 250 Odyssey monitors at the event, gamers enjoyed immersive gameplay at PAX West Seattle held on September 2-5, 2022.

To connect with U.S. gamers, Samsung brought the Odyssey Ark to a number of popular gaming festivals, including PAX West held in Seattle and TwitchCon in San Diego. Samsung had more than 250 Odyssey monitors at PAX West’s PC Area. In particular, the dedicated Odyssey Ark booth built in collaboration with ReedPop impressed gamers with the 55-inch 1000R curved screen’s overwhelming presence, grabbing significant attention.

The Odyssey Ark continued its journey at TwitchCon in San Diego, where more than 30,000 well- known Twitch content creators gathered. Samsung partnered with esports organisation TSM and gave attendees the opportunity to experience the Odyssey Ark, Odyssey Neo G9 and Odyssey G7.

Let’s move into Europe, one of the biggest gaming markets with many passionate gamers who were excited about the Odyssey Ark. In September, gamers and streamers were given a special look at the Odyssey lineup at the Smart Arena in Milan. Popular streamers and entertainers including Jakidale and Bryan Box, along with esports team Morning Stars players Piz, Belix and Predage, tested the Odyssey Ark and shared their live reactions with their online audiences.

The Odyssey Ark was installed at Zurich Pop Con in Zürich, Switzerland held on October 1 and 2, 2022.

The Odyssey Ark then journeyed to Zurich Pop Con in Zurich and HeroFest in Bern, followed by GameForce in Brussels and Dreamhack in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. The Odyssey Ark booth was packed with people who wanted to get the firsthand experience with this groundbreaking and futuristic gaming screen.

After making stops around the world, the Odyssey Ark has landed in seven department stores across Seoul. Visitors can experience the Odyssey Ark’s unique features including Multi View, Flex Move Screen and Gaming Hub.

For two consecutive years, Samsung achieved double-digit growth in brand value

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. has been recognised by Interbrand, a global brand consultancy, as one of the top five in the Best Global Brands 2022. Each year, Interbrand announces the world’s top 100 brands, and Samsung’s brand value was evaluated for USD 87.7 billion, which represents 17% growth compared to USD 74.6 billion in 2021, ranking the company in fifth place for three years in a row.

The achievement was based on Samsung’s restored financial performance, which is now near pre-pandemic levels, and higher demand for memory due to an increase in data usage. In 2021, Samsung scored a brand value growth of 20% compared to 2020 and this year, continues the double-digit growth.

Samsung first entered the top 10 list in 2012, placing in ninth position, and has managed to rise in the chart each year, reaching sixth place in 2017 and fifth place in 2020.

A million-to-one static contrast ratio helps bring out subtle details with incredible clarity. Plus, the Neural Quantum Processor Ultra takes content quality to new heights by using data generated from 20 neural networks to enhance every visual detail, and can upscale content to up to 4K resolution.

For supreme cinematic experience, the Odyssey Ark leverages Samsung’s Matte Display and Sound Dome Technology. The Matte Display is designed to provide both anti-glare and anti-reflection protection, minimising distractions and helps keep users focused on the content in front of them. The Odyssey Ark can introduce magnificent sound with ‘Sound Dome Tech’ featuring AI Sound Booster and Dolby Atmos to help enhance the surround sound experience. Samsung expands The Wall 2022 lineup with the addition of the IAB and IWB Series, which deliver incredible visuals.

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. today launched two new series of The Wall – Samsung’s cutting-edge Micro LED displays – in the Southeast Asia and Oceania (SEAO) region at the inaugural Samsung Display Tech Summit 2022.

Held in Bangkok, Thailand, the Summit hosted some 230 enterprise customers, tech enthusiasts and pro audio-visual partners from across the region over two days to share the latest insights and first-hand experiences on Samsung’s next-generation commercial displays and solutions.

Creating Immersive Customer Experiences with The Wall

Perched at the pinnacle of display technology, Micro LED technology offers immersive viewing experiences in a high-resolution and large screen format, creating premium customer engagements for brands.

In 2018, Samsung, a pioneer in Micro LED displays, launched The Wall, which was then the world’s first consumer modular Micro LED 146-inch display. Since its launch, The Wall has been deployed to provide customer premium experiences globally, including in this region.

Launched in the SEAO region at the Summit, The Wall All-in-One[1], also called the IAB Series, brings the ease of Micro LED installation to the next level. The IAB Series requires only two hours for two people to install as it comes with a pre-adjusted seam and pre-assembled frame kit, which includes an embedded media play S-box. The Wall All-in-One has a display thinness of just 49mm and is available in three models: 4K 146-inch, FHD 146-inch and FHD 110-inch.

Also unveiled at the Summit is The Wall IWB Series[2], which is available in 0.63 and 0.94 pixel pitches. At 0.63 pixel pitch, this model is the slimmest ever pixel pitch in The Wall lineup, delivering Samsung’s most detailed picture and dynamic range expansion with the screen’s 120Hz frame rate, HDR10/10+ and LED HDR. The Wall IWB Series also provides a variety of screen sizes, accommodating 4K movies for 110-inch and up to incredible 8K quality for 220-inch.

All models in The Wall lineup feature Black Seal technology, enabling purer black levels with enhanced depth and details; Ultra Chroma technology, where narrower wavelengths produce RGB colours more pure and more accurate than conventional LEDs; 20bit processing to present extraordinary contrast ratio and smooth, natural tonal gradients; and Micro AI Processor designed to enhance image contrast while removing noise.

The Wall also features Multi View, which enables simultaneous playback of content from up to 4 sources on one screen without the need for a video splitter[3].

Visualising Productivity and Collaboration in the Hybrid World

In addition to launching the new 2022 models of The Wall, Samsung also showcased its latest display solutions at the Summit that are relevant to new modes of work, study and play in the hybrid era. These include:

• New World of Learning and Meeting: Classrooms and meeting spaces in the hybrid world require display solutions that are seamlessly connected, easy to use, immersive while allowing multiple users to collaborate at the same time. The new 2022 Samsung Flip Pro, available in 55-inch, 65-inch, 75-inch and 85-inch models, is perfect for students and professionals to enable high-quality collaboration with real-world writing and drawing experiences with pen and brush modes, integrated video call apps, multiple connectivity and wireless screen sharing.

• New World of Content Creation: The new Samsung ViewFinity S8, a high-resolution monitor for content creators, is available in consumer popular sizes of 27-inch and 32-inch for creating impactful content such as graphic design or detailed financial charts in the office or at home. Its pro-grade UHD resolution carries a wide color gamut up to 98% of DCI-PS and VESA DisplayHDR[4] for optimal range, accuracy and nuance. Notably, the ViewFinity S8 received ‘PANTONE Validated’[5] recognition for ability to accurate reproduction of more than 2,000 colors and newly added 110 skin tone shades from PANTONE[6].

• New World of Gaming Experiences: Odyssey Ark[7] is Samsung’s first 55-inch 1000R curved gaming monitor. This next-generational 4K gaming display features a 165Hz refresh rate, 1ms response time and a Cockpit mode to create an immersive and personal gaming theatre for competitive and casual gamers alike. This impressive gaming monitor also comes with the Ark Dial, which is a solar-powered controller built to give the player quick access to screen functions such as Flex Move Screen, Multi View, and Quick Settings.

Sustainability by Design

At the Summit, Samsung reaffirmed its commitment to sustainability by designing and building display solutions that can reduce carbon footprint, as well as contribute to resource circulation.

Certified by Carbon Trust, Samsung has incorporated eco-packaging in its products, with recycled materials used in display solutions since 2021. Samsung has also developed and applied a new material made from recycled ocean-bound plastics to manufacture the ViewFinity S8.

Samsung Electronics Australia is excited to confirm that The Wall All-in-One will be available locally in the coming months, with pricing and availability yet to be announced. Local availability of The Wall IWB Series is not available at this time.

Newly unveiled at Gamescom 2022 are the Odyssey G7 and G6 gaming monitors. These models in the Odyssey lineup feature Samsung’s Smart Platform, doubling up as a Gaming Monitor and Smart TV all in one.

Both the G7 and G6 provide smart functionality, including the option to create a home office environment even without a PC. The monitors conveniently connect with various IT devices and services all from one screen for an ultra-efficient working environment. Users can wirelessly connect to a compatible Windows or Mac PC, use Samsung DeX, mirror a smartphone screen onto the monitor using Apple AirPlay 2, as well as access Microsoft 365 cloud services. Users can also watch the latest shows on Netflix, Amazon Prime, and other leading over-the-top service providers.[3]

In addition to the IoT functionality also available on the Odyssey Ark, the G7 and G6 are equipped with a high-sensitivity Far Field Voice microphone, allowing users to control the device with voice assistants such as Bixby and Amazon Alexa. The Always On Voice[4] function allows users to interact with Bixby even when the monitor is turned off, while displaying conversation related information on the monitor’s screen.

The G7 is available in 28- and 32-inch sizes, offering a 144Hz refresh rate and a 1ms response time (GtG). These capabilities are packaged up in a UHD resolution, flat IPS display that is enhanced by NVIDIA’s G-SYNC Compatible and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro for smooth gameplay.

The G6 is offered in 27- and 32-inch size option and is equipped with a 240Hz refresh rate and 1ms response time (GtG). The QHD, 1000R curved display comes with FreeSync Premium Pro for a flawless gaming experience that will give any player a competitive edge.
