As incidents of phone theft continue to rise around the world, Samsung is calling on Galaxy users to activate the anti-theft features available on devices with One UI 7. These updates reflect Samsung’s commitment to delivering better protection – helping users to safeguard their data and stay in control.

Samsung recently started rolling out One UI 7 to compatible devices with security updates to existing features, including additional theft protection. These will now also be available to even more devices, having expanded across more Galaxy devices throughout the year[1].

Samsung is introducing new security updates to better protect users. One major update is Theft Protection – a multi-layered suite of features developed to help safeguard personal data.

Theft Protection builds on standard Android safeguards, which are effective where the thief doesn’t know the PIN.

Galaxy users can now enable a range of new security measures, including Identity Check. When enabled, these features offer additional protection if a device is stolen. Working with the Find My Mobile feature, these new features may assist in locating your phone, making it difficult for others to access the information in your device. Whether online or offline, these features can give you some extra peace of mind.

Existing and updated features in Theft Protection include:

Theft Detection Lock: When enabled, this feature detects abrupt motions generally associated with physical theft such as snatching and instantly locks the screen to stop unauthorised access.

Offline Device Lock: The screen gets automatically locked if the device is disconnected from the network for an extended period. This feature can be used twice a day.

Remote Lock:Users can lock their devices remotely using their phone number and a quick verification step. Remote Lock also allows users to regain control of their account and explore additional recovery options. To enable this feature, the device must be online and can be done by going to android.com/lock and enter their phone number. Feature can be used max twice a day.

Other features released on One UI 7 include:

Identity Check: The ‘Safe Places’ feature requires biometric authentication for any changes to sensitive security settings, adding an additional layer of protection when a PIN may have been compromised.

Security Delay: A key component of Identity Check, it triggers a one-hour waiting period if someone attempts to reset biometric data.

These updated theft features are available on some compatible devices with One UI 7, with future updates planned for even more Galaxy smartphones.

Further steps to take if your Samsung Galaxy device is lost or stolen

How to remotely lock your Samsung Galaxy device:

Sign into Samsung Find using your Samsung account

Select your phone on the left-hand side of the page, then choose Lost Mode in the device details section

Create a PIN to unlock your phone if recovered, and enter it twice to confirm

You will have the option to add an emergency contact and a custom message that will display on the locked screen (It’s recommended to skip this step to avoid sharing personal contact details)

When you are ready, select the Lock button and verify your Samsung account to activate Lost mode

If your device is recovered, you can unlock it using the PIN that was created when setting lost mode on your device

How to remotely delete data on your Samsung Galaxy device:

Visit the Samsung Find website

Select the phone you want to erase and choose Erase Data

Verify your Samsung account credentials

Review the information provided and tap Erase to confirm

All the data on your mobile, including Samsung Pay information, will be permanently deleted and cannot be recovered

This will also reset your phone, meaning you won’t be able to locate and control it via Samsung Find

Make sure to regularly back up your data to the cloud so you can restore it to a new device if needed

How to remotely change your Samsung and/or Google account passwords:

It is recommended to change the passwords for your Samsung and Google accounts (or whichever accounts are linked to your device) by signing in through their respective websites

Once changed, you will be signed out of all connected devices, except the one you’re using

This prevents unauthorised access to account-linked features and protects your personal information

How to track your Galaxy device:

If your device is turned on and connected to Wi-Fi or mobile data, its last known location will appear on a map

Visit the Samsung Find website

Sign in with the Samsung account associated with your device (or a guardian’s account)

If multiple devices are linked to your account, they will all appear – select the one you want to locate

You’ll see its current or last known location

Other remote features available:

Ring: Make your device ring even if it’s set to silent or vibrate

Extend battery life: Activate power-saving settings to keep your device on longer and improve the chances of recovery

Track location: Enable real-time location tracking and your phone’s location will update every 15 minutes until tracking is stopped

Other ways to locate Galaxy devices

Find your phone using your Galaxy watch (WearOS 5 or higher):

Swipe down from the top of your Galaxy Watch to open Quick settings

Tap the Find My Phone icon

Tap Start to begin the search – your phone’s ringtone will sound

Once found, tap Stop on your watch or the X icon on your phone

Find your Galaxy Watch:

Open the Galaxy Wearable app on your phone

Tap Find My Watch (or Find My Band / Find My Gear, depending on your device)

If connected via Bluetooth, tap Start

Your watch will vibrate and play a sound (depending on model)

Once found, tap the X icon on your watch or Stop on your phone

Find your Galaxy Buds:

Open the Galaxy Wearable app on your phone or tablet

Tap Find My Earbuds

Tap Start – your earbuds will begin beeping and gradually increase in volume for three minutes

Once found, tap Stop

Using Google’s Find My Device:

Google’s Find My Device is built into Android via Google Play Services

You will need a Google account to use it

With this tool, you can set a new password, make your device ring, display a message, lock and wipe your device, and more

Contact the authorities and your mobile network provider:

Once taken the steps above, report your lost or stolen device to the police and record a crime incident report

Contact your mobile network provider to freeze your contract and prevent unauthorised usage

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. today announced that the official rollout of One UI 7 will start from April[1], bringing a bold new design for greater personalisation and control to the user experience. One UI 7 introduces new interface built for AI, helping users interact with their Galaxy devices more naturally than ever before. The update will be available starting with the Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy Z Fold6 and Z Flip6, gradually rolling out to more Galaxy smartphones and tablets.

Bold New Design for Greater Personalisation

One UI 7 comes with a simple, impactful, and emotive design, bringing streamlined and cohesive experience to Galaxy users. A simplified home screen, redesigned One UI widgets and lock screen allow users to intuitively and seamlessly customise their devices.

For added convenience, Now Bar[2] provides real-time updates that matter most right on the lock screen. So during a morning run, users can easily check their progress and see what song is playing in your Galaxy Buds – all with a simple swipe, without unlocking their phone.

Smarter AI Features for More Intuitive Experience

One UI 7 introduces seamless AI-driven experiences that help users to stay productive and explore their creativity.

With Galaxy AI, users can simplify everyday tasks, minimising the need to switch between applications. AI Select[3] intuitively recommends by understanding context. For example, a user can simple swipe the Edge Panel and click ‘AI Select’ icon when watching a video to save it as a GIF file. Writing Assist[4] allows users to easily summarise or automatically format contents in which texts can be selected.

One UI 7 also enables simple edits to give users more creative control and freedom. Drawing Assist[5] helps bring ideas to life with more than a single input, including combinations of text prompts and images or sketches. Audio Eraser[6] makes advanced editing accessible for all, by isolating categories of sounds and removing unwanted noise in videos.

With deeper Google Gemini[7] integration, controlling the device is as easy as speaking to a friend. Long-press the side button and say, “Find Italian, pet-friendly restaurants with outdoor seating nearby.” Gemini instantly pulls up recommendations in one seamless interaction.

Natural language search[8] extends to Settings, making it easier to adjust preferences. Users can simply go into Settings and say “My eyes are feeling tired.” In an instant, recommended options such as adjusting brightness or turning on Eye comfort shield appear.

The Galaxy S25 series has redefined how we interact with our phones and the world around us, helping elevate the power of Galaxy AI[1] to the next level. These more natural, context-aware and personalised mobile experiences bring new possibilities to Samsung’s full device ecosystem, including the Galaxy Buds3 series.

And now, with the rollout of One UI 7, you can access the most convenient and intelligent audio with Galaxy Buds3 and Buds3 Pro. Easily change sound settings on the quick settings panel and have your preferences applied to specific apps, all for your convenience. Plus, users can enjoy the more accessible, personalised audio experience enabled by Adapt sound feature.

Let’s take a closer look at how the Galaxy Buds3 series can enhance and transform your everyday soundscape.

New Features for Advanced Customisation and Convenient Control

Adjust Sound Settings with More Convenience

Fine-tuning your audio should be quick and easy so you can enjoy whatever you’re listening to virtually anytime, anywhere. Galaxy Buds3 series makes the job much simpler with One UI 7, eliminating the need to separately access the Galaxy Wearable app on your compatible smartphone each time you want to adjust the settings for your device. Now for the first time in Galaxy, conveniently adjust volume, noise control, and sound settings all from your device’s quick settings panel for a hassle-free listening experience.

How to Adjust Buds Setting on Quick settings panel

Open Quick settings panel on your connected smartphone

Touch and hold the Volume slider in the panel

Personalise Sound Settings for Specific Apps

Sound setting preferences often vary by the app you’re using. For instance, when listening to music you may prefer the bass turned high, but when watching a movie, you prefer a more immersive 360-degree sound experience. With App sound settings, you no longer need to adjust sound settings each time you visit an app. Simply set your sound preferences for individual apps[2] once via quick settings panel, and the Galaxy Buds3 series will automatically apply them whenever the app starts playing media. A first-of-its-kind feature, this capability delivers a more seamless daily audio routine, tailored to your liking.

How to Use App sound settings

Tailored Sound for Personal Hearing Needs

One UI 7 expands ambient sound capabilities even further with the updated Adapt sound feature[3], allowing you to curate the personalized sound experience with clearer and more accurate sound when on calls or watching videos so you don’t miss a line of dialogue.

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. today announced the Galaxy S25 Ultra, Galaxy S25+ and Galaxy S25, setting a new standard as a true AI companion with our most natural and context-aware mobile experiences ever created. Introducing multimodal AI agents, the Galaxy S25 series is the first step in Samsung’s vision to change the way users interact with their phone – and with their world. A customised Snapdragon® 8 Elite Mobile Platform for Galaxy chipset delivers greater on-device processing power for Galaxy AI[1] and superior camera range and control with Galaxy’s next-gen ProVisual Engine.

“The greatest innovations are a reflection of their users, which is why we evolved Galaxy AI to help everyone interact with their devices more naturally and effortlessly while trusting that their privacy is secured,” said TM Roh, President and Head of Mobile eXperience Business at Samsung Electronics. “Galaxy S25 series opens the door to an AI-integrated OS that fundamentally shifts how we use technology and how we live our lives.”

Our Most Intuitive and Effortless Mobile Interactions Yet

With One UI 7[2], the Galaxy S25 series is a true AI companion that understands the context of your needs and preferences and provides personalised AI experiences with privacy controls at every turn. It’s the starting point of a shared vision with Google to imagine Android with AI at the core, bringing together developers and partners from around the world.

AI agents with multimodal capabilities enable Galaxy S25 to interpret text, speech, images and videos for interactions that feel natural. Upgrades to Google’s Circle to Search[3] make searching your phone screen more helpful, fast and contextual. Circle to Search now quickly recognizes phone numbers, email and URLs on your screen, letting you call, email or visit a website with a single tap.

With Galaxy S25 series, you can also perform actionable searches with context-aware suggestions for next steps. Plus, Galaxy S25 makes it frictionless to switch between apps for quick follow-up actions, like sharing a GIF or saving event details.

Galaxy S25 also represents a breakthrough in natural language understanding, making everyday interactions easier. Simply ask and intuitively find a specific photo in Samsung Gallery or adjust the size of display fonts in Settings.

Just press and hold the side button to activate Gemini and perform seamless interaction across compatible Samsung and Google apps, plus other compatible third-party apps such as Spotify. For example, find your favorite sports team’s season schedule and add it to Samsung Calendar – with a single command.

These intuitive interactions are elevated by expansions to Galaxy AI’s popular tools for communication, productivity and creativity. Galaxy S25 keeps calls organised with Call Transcript[4] and summary. Writing Assist features such as summarizing content or automatically formatting notes can be enabled where texts can be selected, without needing to switch between applications. Drawing Assist[5] unlocks fresh ways to bring ideas to life through combinations of sketches, text or image prompts.

Hyper-personalised Experiences with Privacy Secured

In the era of AI, personalisation goes hand-in-hand with privacy. On Galaxy S25, the Personal Data Engine[6] powers personalized AI features by safely analysing your data on-device to deliver highly tailored experiences that reflect your preferences and usage patterns. These insights enable tailored experiences such as searching for an old photo in the Gallery using natural language, or being guided through the day with Now Brief[7], which proactively offers suggestions accessible via Now Bar[8] on the lock screen. All personalised data is kept private and secured by Knox Vault. Combined with enhanced on-device processing capabilities, this creates a powerful, protected AI experience.

Because there is no privacy without holistic security, One UI 7 laid the groundwork for these innovations by introducing an extra layer of device safety designed for the age of AI and hyperconnectivity. Additional updates include added Maximum Restrictions settings, enhanced Theft Protection, and a new Knox Matrix dashboard to monitor the security status across a connected device ecosystem.

Galaxy’s Most Powerful Performance Ever

The Galaxy S25 series is powered by the Snapdragon® 8 Elite for Galaxy. With unique customisations by Galaxy, this is the most powerful processor ever on Galaxy S series, delivering a performance boost of 40% in NPU, 37% in CPU[9] and 30% in GPU compared to previous generation. This power fuels the Galaxy S25 series’ ability to process more AI experiences on-device, including previously cloud-based AI tasks such as Generative Edit[10].

Samsung and Qualcomm Technologies worked together to customise the Snapdragon® 8 Elite for Galaxy. The Galaxy S25 series features advanced, efficient AI image processing with ProScaler[11] to achieve a 40% improvement[12] in display image scaling quality, while incorporating custom technology with Samsung’s mobile Digital Natural Image engine (mDNIe) embedded within the processor using Galaxy IP to enable greater display power efficiency.

Snapdragon® 8 Elite for Galaxy is also equipped with Vulkan Engine and improved Ray Tracing, which makes for smoother and more realistic mobile gaming.[13]

All intense device usage and AI processing run smoothly thanks to improved heat dissipation structure with 40% larger vapor chamber and a tailored thermal interface material (TIM) that delivers extra improvement in thermal efficiency.

Unleashing Truly Pro Creation

The Galaxy S25 series delivers ultra-detailed shots at virtually every range with high resolution sensors and ProVisual Engine, setting a new standard for mobile photography. With a new 50MP Ultrawide camera sensor upgraded from the previous 12MP, Galaxy S25 Ultra provides exceptional clarity and vibrancy.

10-bit HDR recording is now applied by default, offering four times richer color expression compared to 8-bit. Galaxy S25 can thus capture details in virtually any lighting conditions. Plus, low-light videos have never been clearer than with Galaxy S25[14]. Based on powerful processor, Galaxy S25 analyzes movement and time to reduce noise more effectively. This integration allows detecting both moving and static objects with greater precision, ensuring sharper, cleaner footage in virtually any scenario.

Galaxy S25 also introduces a range of tools once limited to specialised software, making advanced editing accessible for all. Now anyone can be a pro at editing photos and videos. Audio Eraser[15] simplifies the removal of unwanted noise in videos. By isolating categories of sounds – including voices, music, wind, nature, crowd and noise – you can control what to tone down.

For a DSLR-like experience on mobile, Galaxy S25 introduces depth-of-field control with Virtual Aperture, integrated into the popular Expert RAW[16]. Galaxy S25 also elevates cinematic creativity with Galaxy Log, enabling precise color grading options for more professional video production.

Portrait Studio[17] has also been enhanced, allowing users to create personalised avatars with more true-to-life facial expressions. Filters introduces new analog-style filters, delivering film-like aesthetic for their photos and videos.

Durable Design Embracing a More Circular Approach

The Galaxy S25 series builds upon Galaxy’s ‘Essential Design’ grounded in ‘Simple, Impactful and Emotive’ elements. Galaxy S25 Ultra refines this essence into the slimmest and lightest Galaxy S series yet, with a rounded edge for a comfortable grip that complements the series’ aesthetic identity.

Galaxy S25 Ultra features titanium and Corning® Gorilla® Armor 2 helping to ensure every day performance.[18]

Combined with seven generations of OS upgrades and seven years of security updates[19], the Galaxy S25 series ensures a reliable and optimised performance over a longer lifespan.

For greater peace of mind, Samsung Care+ offers comprehensive benefits such as Mobile Refresh or a device swap, ensuring added comfort for Galaxy users.

The Galaxy S25 series will be available for pre-order from 23 January and will be in stores from 14 February Galaxy S25 Ultra will be available[20] in Titanium Silverblue, Titanium Black, Titanium Whitesilver and Titanium Gray.

For more than a decade, people all over the world have consistently enhanced their productivity and creativity by turning to Galaxy smartphones. Chief among them, the Galaxy S Ultra series, which is built on a legacy of innovation of our Galaxy Note series has become synonymous with boundless creativity and is loved by countless Galaxy fans.

With its incredible power, expansive screen and iconic S Pen, Galaxy S Ultra is renowned for helping people seamlessly follow their inspirations or capture ideas anytime, anywhere – even without unlocking the phone and digging for a note-taking app.

Creativity Like Never Before

Last year, Samsung introduced Galaxy AI[1], ushering a new era of mobile experiences. This ground-breaking technology helped the Galaxy S Ultra series evolve into an even more indispensable tool for maximising creative freedom. And now, your creativity is about to reach new heights.

Sketch to Image[2], now integrated into Drawing assist, is evolving. Utilising more than a single input, like drawing with S Pen or your finger, it is becoming a multimodal experience. Now you can breathe life into your ideas by sketching them, writing out a description of the image you want with text, or using a photo on from your Gallery. If you can envision it, Galaxy AI can help you create it.

Let’s say you want to really let your imagination run wild. You can draw a cat using S Pen and then, with multimodal Galaxy AI, you can type a “spacesuit” to put your cat in a space suit and visualise it in outer space. Or maybe you’re thinking about your dream home. Using S Pen, you make a quick drawing of the façade. But maybe you’re not sure where you want your dream home to be. Simply type some possible locations, like “by the beach” or “in the mountains” and Drawing assist will help you see your future home in a new light.

From Note to Ultra and Beyond

This level of creative freedom is built on a legacy of innovation that began in 2011, when we introduced the Galaxy Note to redefine what was creatively possible on a smartphone. That power and spirit of innovation lives on through the Galaxy S Ultra series, and it continues to evolve with Galaxy AI.

With One UI 7, Samsung’s first integrated AI platform, your phone will become a true AI companion that understands natural language[3] through text and speech, as well as images. It will be a new standard of multimodal mobile AI that enables incredible creativity. But this is just a preview. Tune into Galaxy Unpacked at 5am AEDT January 23, to see how the next Galaxy S series can truly unleash your creativity.

[1] Fees may apply to certain AI Features at the end of 2025.

[2] Sketch to Image feature requires a network connection and Samsung Account login. Editing with Sketch to Image may result in a resized photo up to 12MP. A visible watermark is overlaid on the image output upon saving in order to indicate that the image is generated by AI.

Imagine having less stress and more time. Picture getting the help you need before you have to ask. In the era of mobile AI, the freedom to focus on what matters most to you isn’t a dream, it’s a reality – and it’s coming soon to Galaxy.

A few weeks ago, we launched the One UI 7 beta program[1]. It marked the start of a new era with the first AI-integrated operating system, a true AI platform that vastly improves mobile experiences for users through unprecedented personalisation.

Galaxy’s approach to AI personalisation, from our launch of the first AI-powered smartphone to our continuous innovation of on-device AI, is to never compromise on privacy. We know you want the benefits of a mobile AI that truly understands you. You want a phone, tailored to your lifestyle, that adds to what you can do while removing everyday barriers – all with minimised risk of personal information being misused.

In anticipation of the next standard-setting Galaxy S series smartphones, we’re giving Galaxy users greater peace of mind alongside greater personalisation. That’s why we’ve created the Personal Data Engine, a powerful privacy advancement that ensures on-device, cross-app personal data protection.

Personalised data is stored in a secure space, carefully safeguarded by an encryption key that’s managed by Knox Vault. That’s the same trusted platform used to secure the most sensitive information on your smartphone, such as your biometric data. As an added layer of protection, post-quantum cryptography future-proofs the security of your data against rising quantum computing threats.

[Image created for illustrative purposes only]

On this fortified foundation of privacy, we’re opening up more possibilities for mobile experiences tailored to your life, only with Galaxy.

One defining element of One UI 7 is Now Bar, which gives personalisation a new meaning by seamlessly integrating your everyday actions and most-used apps into your lock screen. It’s where you’ll be able to control your entertainment, time your next ‘personal best’ workout, get directions to your next meeting, or start communicating in other languages.

Now Bar will be an access point for the most comprehensively insightful experiences ever on Galaxy. Now your phone won’t just ping you, it will help power your lifestyle.

Imagine you’re packing for a trip from Seoul, Korea, to San Jose, California. While you get ready, your phone offers a prompt to create a folder of your most commonly used apps for quicker access. To help make sure you don’t miss your flight, it lets you know when it’s time to leave for the airport. It can even provide a curated travel playlist to set the mood for your long flight.

With a single swipe, you can access the weather forecast – no need to search or check various apps. Throughout your trip, you capture the magic of each moment on your phone, and as each day winds down, it helps you relive the highlights.

Morning and night, Galaxy AI[2] will help keep you both informed and inspired with actionable tips and recommendations[3] uniquely tailored to your life. Game-changing personalisation with privacy you can trust. This is the next evolution of Galaxy AI.

[1] The One UI 7 beta program was first available for Galaxy S24 series devices in Germany, India, Korea, Poland, the UK, and the US, from December 5. Galaxy S24 series users can apply to join the beta program via Samsung Members.

[2] Fees may apply to certain AI Features at the end of 2025.Certain Galaxy AI features requires Samsung and Google Account. Internet connection may be required to use some features.

[3] Some features may require Samsung Account login. Service availability may vary by country, language, device model, apps. Now Brief can be switched on and off, and configured, in your phone’s Settings.
