This accomplishment can be attributed to the company’s commitment to premium viewing experiences and user-centered design.

By prioritising its premium product lineup, Samsung has upheld its position in the TV industry for an impressive 17 years, exemplified by its Neo QLED lineup. From 2006 to 2022, Samsung’s worldwide TV market share based on annual revenue has doubled[2].

“Our track record of industry leadership over the past 17 years was made possible by our consumers’ continued loyalty and trust in our products,” said Cheolgi Kim, Executive Vice President of Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics. “We will continue to pave the path to create the most premium device experiences that go beyond premium picture quality.”

Samsung’s leadership in global TV market share for 17 consecutive years is a testament to the company’s commitment to providing innovative products with consumer-centric designs and upgraded user experiences.

Samsung continued to push the boundaries of picture quality and innovation by introducing products with the latest technologies as well. In 2017, Samsung defined the term “next-generation display” by unveiling its first QLED TV, which utilised quantum dot technology. In 2018, the company launched the groundbreaking QLED 8K, followed by the Quantum Mini LED-backed Neo QLED and the self-illuminating MICRO LED in 2021. This collection of innovative technologies redefined the standard for Samsung’s TV picture quality.

Additionally, Samsung has been at the forefront of pioneering new categories such as the Lifestyle series. Starting with the iconic design of The Serif in 2016, Samsung has continued to evolve its product lineup with designs to enhance the user experience through products such as The Frame, The Sero, The Terrace, The Premiere, and The Freestyle.

In 2023, Samsung’s commitment to innovation continues with the development of intuitive technology designed to meet the needs of users. SmartThings will enable seamless integration and connectivity of multiple devices with security remaining a top priority, empowering users to create deeply personalised experiences that accommodate both their unique preferences and needs.

Samsung Electronics Australia today announces its 2022 line-up of Neo QLED and Lifestyle TVs, revealing advancements in picture and sound quality, more

Samsung Electronics Australia today announces its 2022 line-up of Neo QLED and Lifestyle TVs, revealing advancements in picture and sound quality, more screen size options, customisable accessories and an upgraded Smart TV interface setting a new benchmark for home entertainment.[1]

Created to suit the evolving needs of how TVs are being used in Australian homes, Samsung Electronics Vice President of Consumer Electronics, Jeremy Senior said “bigger screens, optimal sound quality and state-of-the-art picture quality remain of the highest priority for Australians as they look for premium at-home entertainment experiences. Samsung’s Neo QLED TVs bring exceptional levels of colour and brightness to the viewing experience, producing a crisp and life-like picture, that can clearly be viewed in bright rooms, ideal for Australian living conditions.”

“The innovations Samsung brings to its range in 2022 allows Australians to have not just a TV, but a customisable and personalised screen that can be used to showcase and purchase art, experience content, work, play and connect with their favourite people.”

Evolution of Neo QLED with Neo Quantum Processor and Dynamic Sound Experience

Thanks to the Neo Quantum Processor and the incredible picture technology and sound it delivers, 2022 Neo QLED will provide pristine images and immersive soundscapes that have never before been experienced by Australians.

This year’s Neo Quantum Processor introduces a new Shape Adaptive Light technology that leverages the Processor’s powerful AI algorithms to analyse lines, shapes and surfaces and control the shape of light from the advanced Quantum Mini LED backlight, maximising the brightness and accuracy of shapes on the screen. The result is outstanding image quality that puts HDR content on full display and unlocks the enhanced 14-bit HDR processing which quadruples Neo QLED’s greyscale levels compared to 2021 for the most accurate image ever produced on a Samsung TV.

Samsung’s 2022 Neo QLED also features Real Depth Enhancer, a multi-intelligence picture quality algorithm that creates a great sense of realism by determining and processing an object on the screen against its background to create a sense of depth.

Additionally, Samsung’s 2022 Neo QLED features the screen’s brightness and tone based on a built-in light sensor and sunset/sunrise information.[2] As the ambient light changes, the screen will gradually reduce the amount of light and offer warmer tones, adjusting the blue light levels accordingly. This allows for a more comfortable viewing experience at night by reducing blue light.

Neo QLED’s sound features are getting a major upgrade as well. Building on OTS (Object Tracking Sound), which directs the sound to move across the room along with the object on-screen, 2022 Neo QLED will take their proprietary technology to another level with native Dolby Atmos support – the industry’s first TV to support Dolby Atmos with upwards and side firing speakers for three dimensional sound without the need for peripheral devices[3]

“Samsung’s 2022 Neo QLEDs will offer Dolby Atmos directly out of the box. We are proud to incorporate industry-leading audio technology for an impressive three-dimensional sound experience. With multi-channel speakers placed throughout the TV, Neo QLED delivers a dynamic sound experience that tracks the actions from all corners.”

The New Smart Hub and Apps for the Ultimate User Experience

Samsung’s 2022 Smart TVs come with a new Smart Hub that puts content curation and discovery front and center with their viewing preferences. The new Smart Hub will guide users to their favourite content or help them discover something new without spending time searching. The Smart Hub’s sidebar also allows for a seamless transition between categories – Media and Ambient – letting users focus on various in-home activities.

Enjoy all the leading apps: Samsung allows Australians to explore all the leading apps on their new Smart Hub, including international apps like Paramount+, Netflix and Disney+ as well as local favourites such as Stan, Kayo and Binge and all the catch-up TV apps[4]

Samsung TV Plus: Enjoy free streaming TV with a variety of channels, including news, sports, entertainment and more. It’s 100% free and ready to use without additional setup required.

NFT Platform: Samsung has collaborated with the prominent NFT marketplace, Nifty Gateway, to bring the NFT experience to Samsung TV customers. The application features an intuitive, integrated platform for discovering, purchasing and trading digital artwork on Neo QLED and The Frame.[5]

Smart Calibration: This feature allows users to fine tune the settings for optimal picture quality. Basic mode features a quick and easy way of calibrating the screens within 30 seconds using a compatible smartphone camera, while Professional mode optimises the screens for pristine picture quality in about 10 minutes.

Award-Winning Lifestyle TVs with Seamless Integration of Design and Technology

Samsung’s 2022 Lifestyle screens seamlessly blend design and technology for a unique and personalised experience. A new Anti-Glare Matte Display with anti-reflection and anti-fingerprint properties has been applied to The Frame, The Sero and The Serif, providing an exceptionally pleasant and comfortable viewing experiences. As a result, the new Anti-Glare Matte Display on Samsung’s 2022 Lifestyle screens received three verifications from UL.[6]

The Frame now offers an incredibly realistic art viewing experience outside of a museum thanks to the anti-glare, low-reflection panel technology featuring an embossed, Anti-Glare Matte Display. It also helps minimise fingerprints and smudges, allowing users to enjoy their favorite artwork in excellent condition. The Frame comes in sizes ranging from 32” to 85”.

The Serif also comes with a matte finish body to blend seamlessly with the Anti-Glare Matte Display, elevating the iconic design to give a premium look and feel. With the addition of a 65” size option, The Serif is now offered in sizes ranging from 43” to 65”.

The Sero offers an optimised watching experience with its new Matte Display in both vertical and horizontal modes and will now be available in both Blue and White coloured variants. The new vertical MultiView takes multitasking to the next level, allowing users to simultaneously view different content on the top and bottom of the screen, or search information online while watching.[7]

“As with any living space, light can often be the biggest challenge as reflections can impact the way people view and enjoy art and images. With this in mind, Samsung has incorporated cutting-edge anti-glare and anti-reflection technology into the newest model of The Frame, The Serif and The Sero, providing a realistic experience for when utilising the TV in Art and Ambient Mode+.” concludes Senior.

More Accessory Options Customisable to Users’ Needs and Tastes

The 2022 Samsung TV models also come with expanded accessories to personalise the user experience. The Auto Rotating Wall Mount and Stand accessories allow compatible TVs to inherit the vertical viewing experience from The Sero, allowing users to enjoy mobile viewing by automatically rotating their screens all from the convenience of the remote control.[8]

To complement the accessory, the 2022 products will support a vertical interface, including the Smart Hub, and offer a vertical Multi View feature. It will offer apps such as YouTube as well as mirroring and casting in vertical mode. Lastly, lifestyle features such as Ambient Mode+ and Art Mode are also available in vertical mode. The new rotation key on the remote control lets users easily rotate the screen with a click of a button.

Additionally, with magnetic bezel options for The Frame and new full motion slim-fit wall mounts for all TVs, there are endless possibilities of personalisation with Samsung’s 2022 screens.[9]

Samsung expands its acclaimed Lifestyle TV range with 65-inch The Serif and 85-inch The Frame

Samsung Electronics Australia is pleased to announce its expanded lifestyle TV range with the release of the 65-inch The Serif and 85-inch The Frame – offering Australians unrivalled choice in style, design and big screen picture quality.

As Australians continue to invest in big screen TVs – with 85-inch now the fastest growing size – and many placing a greater emphasis on design and multi-purpose function, the expanded range is a welcome addition to meet the demands of in-home entertainment across the country.

“We’ve received unprecedented demand for our Lifestyle TVs and it continues to grow year-on-year. With more Australians wanting larger TVs for that big screen experience at home they are also trying to balance the design and aesthetics of the room. Expanding our size options for The Serif and The Frame meets the demand for those looking for a TV that fits into the overall style of the home but also produce an exceptional big screen experience.” Said Jeremy Senior, Vice President of Consumer Electronics, Samsung Australia

“The Frame was the first lifestyle TV to launch in Australia and with many enhancing their living environments over the past twelve months, we’ve seen exceptional demand for this product. The Frame’s unique Art Mode offers the ability to access art from galleries all over the world, including The Louvre and it has proven to be a favourite feature for customers wanting to blend the TV into the room.

“On average, Australians have 2.7 TVs in their home and as our viewing habits evolve our lifestyle range continues to offer a smart TV experience coupled with Samsung’s leading QLED picture quality to enhance the overall home entertainment experience for when the TV is both on and off” Concludes Senior.

The Serif

The new 65-inch The Serif is added to the current lineup of 43-inch and 55-inch models.

Created in 2015 in collaboration with Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec, globally renowned French furniture designers, The Serif is a mastery of form and function, inspired by the letter ‘I’ in a Serif font, that blurs the boundary between furniture and TV. While most TVs are designed to be wall-mounted or on top of a TV stand, The Serif was built to be put anywhere. Now, with a bigger screen, The Serif can provide an even more immersive viewing experience and blend into its environment.

Aside from its unique design, The Serif also offers Samsung QLED picture quality for a rich and realistic image across virtually all content and 200Hz Motion Rate for smooth images when watching fast moving sports or action movies. It also gives consumers a comprehensive Smart TV experience and smart features. Through NFC technology, the new model of The Serif also supports Tap View[1], which allows users to play content from a compatible smartphone on the TV screen by simply tapping the device on the sides of TV.

The Frame

The 85-inch The Frame is added to the current lineup of 32-inch, 43-inch, 50-inch, 55-inch, 65-inch and 75-inch models. The addition of the 85-inch version meets Australians’ demands for big screen TVs.

Alongside new design forms and software updates across the range, The Frame brings the beauty of a TV when it’s on, and art when it’s off. Featuring a selection of over 1,400 artworks via The Art Store,[2] The Frame allows users to reinvent and refresh their space as a new art gallery every day, providing a way to bring natural elements into their home decor.

This year, The Frame also features a slimmer profile[3] and has new modern customisable frame options including; Beige, Teak, White and Brown to blend into users’ room décor.

With Samsung’s partnership with the iconic Musée du Louvre, The Frame now boasts a catalog with over 1,400 works of art from 43 different countries that Australians can enjoy in 4K picture quality from museums and galleries around the world with a subscription to The Art Store.²

Samsung’s eco-packaging solution will also continue to be used across all TV packaging to help responsibly manage waste, allowing customers to repurpose TV boxes into small-scale pieces of furniture. Both The Frame and The Serif also come with Samsung’s solar cell-powered remote, removing the need for disposable batteries.

With their sensual designs, Samsung’s Lifestyle TVs are being widely used as interior-enhancing items for expressing one’s taste. From The Serif, whose design resembles the capital letter “I”, and The Frame, with its elegant and modern bezel, to The Sero, which features a portrait mode-inspired design, the wide-ranging models in Samsung’s Lifestyle TV lineup cater to many tastes.

Depending on the space, there are various ways in which Samsung’s Lifestyle TVs can be used to enhance an interior. With the help of a home stylist named Rachel, Samsung Newsroom came up with elegant ways to use the company’s Lifestyle TVs and household objects to decorate a variety of spaces.

Going beyond the conventional idea of what a TV is, Samsung’s leading range of lifestyle TVs are true pieces of interior décor that allow users to express themselves in their own spaces. Whether you’re looking for a TV that can double as an art frame, a screen to display portrait as well as landscape-oriented content on, or a TV whose design speaks for itself, there’s something for everyone in the range.

In order to get to know more about how users around the world are enjoying their Samsung lifestyle TVs, Samsung Newsroom reached out to a range of influencers and trailblazers within different creative industries.

Kyal & Kara, Australian Renovators Who Like to Think Outside the Box

“The ability to view either your own or world-renowned media on The Frame means that there are infinite ways to create a look and feel unique to each individual.”

Q: How do Samsung’s lifestyle TVs factor into your daily household routines and activities?

A: With two young children and an active lifestyle, we really value our relaxation time together as a family, and Samsung’s lifestyle TVs play a big part in this. On the weekends, we love our movie time together as a family, and the kids love choosing artwork from the Art Store for The Frame we have in our rumpus room – it’s a great way for them to take ownership of the space.

Q: Samsung’s The Frame combines technology with aesthetic for seamless TV experiences. What are your favorite features of the TV?

A: The two standout features for us are the TV’s thin, streamlined design and the customizable bezel. We’re all about creating spaces that evoke emotion as you enter the room, and the ability to view either your own or world-renowned media on the TV means that there are infinite ways to create a look and feel unique to each individual.

Q: What tips would you provide to users looking to match their Samsung lifestyle TV to their interior?

A: We have three key tips. Tip 1: function first – work out how you’d like your TV to be displayed. The Serif is a great option for angular spaces where wall mounting or units are not an option.

Tip 2: find your inspiration. From color palettes to other décor pieces, be sure to know what’s important in your space. Finally, tip 3: create a style unique to you. Ask yourself what vibe you’re looking for with your space. For example, if you prefer minimal interior styling, The Frame with a white bezel would be the perfect choice.

Adèle & Maxime, French Graphic Designers With an Interest in How Objects Work With Their Interiors

“Samsung’s lifestyle TVs blend in with the décor, becoming an aesthetic element in their own right – all with simplicity and lightness.”

Q: As designers and illustrators yourselves, what do you think about the design of Samsung’s lifestyle TVs?

A: The design of Samsung TVs is very interesting because, once placed, they become a modern and active object in our interiors. They blend in with the decor, becoming an aesthetic element in their own right – all with simplicity and lightness.

Q: Samsung has partnered with some artists on the design of their lifestyle TVs. What are your thoughts on such partnerships that blend technological innovation with artistic creativity?

A: The idea of opening up the design of an everyday object to creators is something that is very important to us. Technological objects can lose their simplicity and poetry by merit of their design, but by collaborating with creative people, we can bring this issue to the forefront to resolve it.

Virro & Lola, A Mexican-French Photographer and Creative Professional Duo With a Passion for Travel

“Samsung’s lifestyle TVs combine art, aesthetics, interior design and entertainment, making them go far beyond the television function – which is really revolutionary.”

Q: Along with your professional pursuits, you are known for your joint Instagram page where you share your favorite travel experiences. What do you think about The Serif with which you can view your own media and memories?

A: We used to hate the black screen of the TV in our living room, so Ambient Mode is one of the features we love most about The Serif. It’s really cool that Samsung regularly introduces new content for Ambient Mode, but mostly, we’re keen on showcasing our own media and having it on display for ourselves and our guests.

Q: Virro – as a photographer, what is it about Samsung’s lifestyle TVs that appeals to you the most?

A: First of all, thanks to their QLED screens, the image quality is impressive. In addition, Samsung’s lifestyle TVs combine art, aesthetics, interior design and entertainment, making them go far beyond the television function – which is really revolutionary.

Q: Lola – what is your favorite thing about The Serif?

A: What I love most about The Serif is that it’s a TV that doesn’t look like one. Being passionate about interior design, I believe that The Serif is a beautiful, unique and bold addition to a living space.

Lotte Meister, an American Interior Decorator and Stager Who Loves When Function Meets Style

“The Serif feels both retro and modern at the same time and doesn’t take up too much visual space the way a TV on a console table might.”

Q: Samsung’s lifestyle TVs are developed to be able to fit into any interior space and aesthetic. What are your thoughts on the design of The Serif? What do you like most about it?

A: The Serif’s clean lines and cool vibe make it a decorative element in its own right. What’s more, the sloped ceilings of our bedroom did not permit a flat screen to be hung on the wall, yet we wanted to be able to watch TV in bed. The Serif was the perfect solution. It feels both retro and modern at the same time and doesn’t take up too much visual space the way a TV on a console table might. The hidden wiring is also genius – the decorator and stager in me loves the look!

Q: What about The Frame? What do you like most about it?

A: We have 3 homes across New York state, each with completely different aesthetics. We have a Frame TV in each of these homes, and it looks great in each location. I love it because it looks like another piece of art and doesn’t scream “Look at me, I’m a TV!”. The choice of finishes available for The Frame make it work in every style of home.

Jin-woong Son, a Korean Furniture Designer With a Passion for the Harmony of the Interior

“The Frame’s bezel is so refined that the joints fit perfectly when you switch out your bezel – like puzzle piece slotting into place.”

Q: As a professional furniture designer, do you have any special criteria in mind when choosing a TV?

A: I would never choose a product that doesn’t harmonize with the space it is to be placed in, which is why I currently use The Frame, as I like how it can be used as an actual art frame when the screen is turned off.

On top of that, you can easily change The Frame’s bezel color to match your changing interior any time you want, something that you can’t do with most electronics. Furthermore, the bezel’s joints are designed at a 45° angle, and as a furniture designer, this strikes me as amazingly sophisticated. The bezel is so refined that the joints fit perfectly when you switch out your bezel – like puzzle pieces slotting into place.

Q: These days, the demand for lifestyle TVs that are able to merge seamlessly into a user’s space is on the rise. What are your thoughts on this trend?

A: In the past, the TV used to play the role of gathering family members all together in the living space while also providing entertainment. These days, however, the role of TVs has become much more about providing multifaceted entertainment experiences, as well as serving as statement furniture pieces.

For those living in a small space, The Serif makes the perfect choice – as opposed to, say, a huge wall-mounted TV – as it makes use of the space it takes up by serving as a sophisticated interior décor item that stands on its own as a piece of furniture.

Samsung Electronics Australia has today announced the local launch of its 2020 QLED TV range, featuring its most advanced, stylish, and expansive portfolio to date. As a pioneer in 8K technology, Samsung continues its commitment to innovation and making high quality 8K and 4K experiences. With smart AI upscaling, enhanced in-TV audio, and a broad range of large-format panels (over 75-inches), Samsung is offering the ultimate entertainment experience from the comfort of your own home.

Big Screens, More Options, and Smart AI Upscaling

This year’s flagship model, the Q950T, boasts an ultra-thin profile and boundless Infinity Display allowing the picture to etch right to the edge, offering nearly 99 per cent pure screen. The introduction of 85-inch QLED TV models is in response to Australian’s demand for big-screen in-home experiences at a range of price points. Samsung’s AI upscaling is now more advanced than ever with a new Quantum Processor, offering pixel-by-pixel image enhancement, enabling the panel to adapt to the viewer’s favourite content or external environment to deliver an amazing picture.

“Australians continue to demand bigger and better entertainment experiences from the comfort of their homes which is why we’re launching our widest range of TVs that feature the best in immersive visual and audio innovation,” said Hass Mahdi, Director of Audio Visual Division, Samsung Australia. “Along with breaking new ground in QLED 8K and 4K TV innovation, Samsung is also offering more options in design across our lifestyle TV range with new additions to our iconic offerings in The Frame, as well as The Serif, which seeks to transform the traditional role of the TV in the home.”

Innovation in TV Audio Experiences and Soundbar Integration

The 2020 QLED 8K TV range introduces an innovative new Samsung TV audio experience with Object Tracking Sound + (OTS+): an in-panel technology that tracks the on-screen action from scene to scene. This technology emits sound from speakers in the top, bottom and sides of the rear of the TV, and is projected to reflect off nearby surfaces to deliver an incredible immersive experience that puts you right in the middle of the action.

Q-Symphony technology also enables seamless cooperation between this innovative new TV sound technology and Samsung’s Q Series soundbars to deliver an extra layer of richness and audio detail. Q-Symphony technology then synchronises sound between these TVs and Samsung Q Series Soundbars for extra richness and a truly immersive surround sound experience.

“Samsung understands the critical importance of immersion when enjoying the latest TV experiences,” said Mahdi. “We have invested in two new innovations, OTS+ and Q-Symphony, in order to transform the audio experience that our TVs offer both standalone and when used with our latest soundbars.”

Bolstering Samsung’s support for gaming enthusiasts, select QLED TVs also include Dynamic Black Equaliser technology, which is designed to ensure clear visibility in dark scenes; Mobile View

Mode to enable multi-tasking on screen; and AMD Freesync compatibility, which delivers seamless and swift action with low input lag.

The new 2020 range also supports a choice of voice-activated assistants, allowing users to choose their preference between Bixby, Google Assistant or Alexa; while panels starting from the Q70T

offer an advanced new Ambient Mode that enables users to select and search by voice, as well as automatically choose music, video, or a daily ambient routine to match their mood.

Pioneering the Lifestyle TV Category

In addition to this expansive 8K and 4K offering, Samsung is also continuing its commitment to delivering new lifestyle experiences. The Frame, which has the ability to turn its screen into a beautiful piece of artwork when not in use and has three customisable bezels options; brown, beige and white, for seamless integration to blend into the aesthetics of the home. Alongside the existing range of sizes of 55-inch and 43-inch, The Frame now also comes in an expanded offering of 75-inch, 50-inch, and 32-inch. The Frame continues to use Samsung’s QLED technology to offer a stunning picture quality.

Also, Artworks from The Frame’s Art Store can now be selected manually or searched via voice activation, making it easier than ever for to bring a selection of 1,200 artworks to life in their home. The Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec-designed The Serif TV, will also now feature the same updated Smart Hub functionality as the rest of the QLED TV range and will be available in 43-inch and 55-inch models. Samsung also announced an addition to their Lifestyle TV portfolio, The Sero. The Sero, which means “vertical” in Korean, has the ability to pivot between horizontal and vertical orientations – just like a smartphone or tablet. The Sero’s display orientation technology connects seamlessly with users’ mobile devices to smoothly and naturally display content in traditional horizontal formats, as well as vertical formats. Consumers can expect to enjoy a variety of content – including social media, movies and other personal videos – in whatever display orientation mirrors their mobile device.

“As the lifestyles, viewing habits, and home entertainment demands of Australians evolve, so too do the features and technology across our Samsung TV lineup, from the latest big-screen experiences and audio immersion of our new 8K and 4K QLED TVs, to the seamless integration into our homes of our innovative lifestyle TV range, with The Frame, The Serif, and The Sero,” said Mahdi.
