The MOU was announced during the AI Summit, held at The Midway in San Francisco. Attendees included Jinman Han, President and Head of Samsung Electronics’ Foundry Business, Hock Tan, President and CEO of Broadcom, senior executives from both companies and representatives of the Korean government.

The companies expect the collaboration to be estimated at more than $200 billion across memory and foundry over the next five years through 2030.

On the memory front, Samsung and Broadcom plan to pursue a strategic collaboration for the supply of industry-leading memory solutions, including High Bandwidth Memory (HBM), supporting Broadcom’s next-generation AI accelerators.

In foundry, the companies’ collaboration focuses on Samsung’s 2-nanometer (nm) and below process technologies for Broadcom’s products, including Wireless Broadband Communications (WBC) solutions. The collaboration is expected to extend to advanced packaging technologies built on Samsung’s 2nm process, including 2.3D and 2.5D integration, to enable higher-performance and more power-efficient AI and networking silicon.

“AI is driving unprecedented demand for tightly integrated semiconductor technologies spanning memory, logic and advanced packaging,” said Young Hyun Jun, Vice Chairman & CEO of the Device Solutions (DS) Division at Samsung Electronics. “By expanding our collaboration with Broadcom across these critical technologies, we look forward to delivering greater value to customers while advancing the AI infrastructure of the future.”

On July 22, Samsung Electronics hosted Galaxy Unpacked July 2026 at Old Billingsgate in London — unveiling its next-generation foldables with agentic AI.

Alongside Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold8 and Galaxy Z Flip8, Samsung introduced Galaxy Watch Ultra2 and Galaxy Watch9 with more advanced health features, as well as intelligent eyewear. Through a user-centered Galaxy ecosystem powered by AI, the company outlined its vision for delivering meaningful everyday experiences.

To explore that vision, Samsung hosted a Health Forum panel, “Rewriting the Rules of Preventive Health.” Moderated by Dr. Hon Pak, Senior Vice President and Head of the Digital Health Team, Mobile eXperience (MX) Business at Samsung Electronics, the session brought together leaders across nutrition, fitness, clinical research and AI to examine how technology can close the gap between knowing and doing in everyday health.

The Paradox — and the “Missing Miles” of Health

Opening the discussion, Dr. Pak described a paradox at the heart of modern health: innovation and technology today has been transformational and accelerating, yet chronic disease continues to rise around the world.

“We live in the most measured era in human history — billions of people track their sleep, their stress, their heart rate every single day. And yet chronic disease keeps rising. More data, it turns out, hasn’t resulted in better health.”

He framed the disconnect as two “missing miles.” The first mile is detection and monitoring: much of what shapes our health happens outside the clinic and until recently, continuous monitoring was neither available nor connected to the physician. The last mile is action: even after a diagnosis and a care plan, it is the individual who has to act day after day — and life is busy and change is hard.

Samsung, Dr. Pak argued, is uniquely positioned to close both gaps. With technology that stays with people throughout their daily lives — across wearables, mobile phones and a connected ecosystem — Samsung can understand not just raw biometric numbers, but the context behind them.

“We don’t just see a number — we see what’s around it: whether this is a moment you’re ready to change something or a moment you need a bit of support. Being there, at the point where personal decisions actually get made, is hard for a hospital or any other company to measure or act upon.”

But no single company can do this alone. That, he said, is why Samsung is building Connected Care together with partners — closing the first and last mile to scale prevention, with AI as the enabler across both. He introduced the three focus areas that would structure the conversation: everyday behavior, clinical credibility and privacy and advanced AI and research.

Everyday Behavior: Closing the Last Mile at the Dinner Table and the Gym

Diet and exercise are two of the biggest levers on long-term health — and two of the most within our control. They are also, Dr. Pak noted, where the gap between knowing and doing is widest.

Kartik Poria, Head of Product at Samsung Food, located that gap in a moment everyone recognizes.

“It’s Tuesday, six o’clock. You’re tired, you’re staring into the fridge and everything you know about eating well loses to whatever’s quickest. That moment is what we’re going after — because what you eat, day after day, is one of the biggest levers we have on preventing chronic disease.”

He described how Samsung Health and Samsung Food are coming together to tackle two halves of the same problem: Samsung Health surfaces what is happening beneath the surface — indicators such as meal logs, BMI, the Antioxidant Index and the AGEs Index — while Samsung Food’s global recipe library facilitates meal planning and its food intelligence reflect how people actually like to eat. Sitting on top is a nutrition experience grounded in behavior change science rather than tracking alone — learning a person’s habits and working with them so the healthier pattern becomes the easier one.

“We’re not adding another thing to manage — we’re making the healthy choice the easy one, for the night you’ve got the energy to cook and the night you don’t.”

Turning to movement, Kevin Duffy, CEO of iFIT, described exercise as foundational to both physical and mental wellbeing and explained how iFIT’s expert-led programs are becoming more accessible through Samsung Health.

“Exercise is vital for both physical and mental wellbeing — cardiovascular health, strength, mobility, sleep quality, stress management.”

Through Samsung Health, users can discover and subscribe to iFIT’s premium fitness programs, while iFIT workouts integrate with Galaxy Watch so users can track key metrics during guided sessions. With Fitness Index, they receive a holistic view of their physical fitness in a single, easy-to-understand score, with personalized recommendations. Looking ahead, Duffy pointed to Samsung’s Health Assistant as a way to bring a user’s Fitness Index, goals and activity history together to surface the most relevant workout at the right moment.

“Exercise is not just about being active — it’s about understanding your body, building sustainable habits and having the right guidance at the right time. By combining iFIT’s expert-led experiences with Samsung Health’s connected insights, we can help more people make movement a meaningful part of their everyday lives.”

But content and insights alone, Dr. Pak noted, don’t close the last mile. The harder question is how to move from engagement to activation. Samsung designs for real life, recognizing that people slip and miss goals most of the time — and that those moments are precisely when timely, well-contextualized support matters most.

The real measure, he argued, is not how often the system nudges someone, but how many healthy actions actually happen — a doctor’s low-salt advice quietly showing up as items in a grocery cart or a workout that meets a person where they actually are that day. Poria added that this is the true shift: from nudging people to changing the choice in front of them.

Clinical Credibility and Privacy: Trust Earned Through Evidence

Dr. Pak turned next to the question of trust — noting that wearable data is now something most clinicians have seen, but far fewer have been able to build into their day-to-day care. Closing that gap, he said, is a matter of evidence, workflow and trust.

Rohit Ail, Head of the Technology Incubation Lab at Samsung R&D Institute UK (SRUK), spoke to how his team works to generate clinical evidence in real-world settings.

“Our goal is to meet the standards expected by clinicians, researchers and regulatory bodies and that means generating evidence in real-world clinical environments. This commitment builds on Samsung’s growing body of clinical research and validation evidence.”

He referenced ongoing collaborations across Europe, including partnerships with the NHS and clinical validation studies with leading hospitals. With San Cecilio University Hospital in Spain and Gemelli in Italy, Samsung is working on identifying and managing cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk using AI and decision-support technologies; with Fondazione IRCCS in Italy, the focus is on understanding and addressing the late effects faced by adolescent and young adult (AYA) cancer survivors through AI-based digital phenotyping and a non-invasive, holistic approach.

On privacy, Ail noted that Samsung considers user data to belong to the user, with Samsung acting as custodian.

“Trust begins with protecting users’ data. Samsung takes a three-layer approach: Samsung Knox for device-level security, GDPR-compliant infrastructure and alignment with the European Health Data Space framework.”

He added that SRUK has also developed a Decentralized Clinical Trial framework, in which participant identities remain under the control of healthcare organizations and data is pseudonymized from the outset.

Advanced AI and Research: Reading the Body’s Signals

If everyday reach and clinical trust are two of the three pillars, intelligence is what binds them together. Dr. Pak introduced foundation models as a genuine turning point — a shift from population averages to something truly personal.

Otávio Penatti, Head of the Health AI R&D Team at Samsung R&D Institute Brazil (SRBR), explained what a foundation model for health actually means.

“A health foundation model is an AI model that uses self-supervised learning to learn meaningful features from unlabeled biosignal data. At Samsung, we are advancing health foundation model research across multiple global research teams, combining expertise in biosignal intelligence, wearable AI and personalized health insights. Building on the success of large language models, we can now interpret complex biosignals — such as ECG, ACC and PPG — not as isolated data points, but as a structured biological language. These signals can be measured through wearable devices in everyday situations and by applying foundation models to understand these biological patterns, we have the potential to provide more accurate predictions and continuous, personalized health insights.”

Three Focus Areas, One Goal

To close, Dr. Pak asked each panelist for a one-sentence vision of Connected Care in the era of AI five years from now.

Dr. Pak closed by tying the threads together: everyday behavior, clinical trust and personal AI — three focus areas, one goal of closing the first and last mile to scale prevention while meeting people where they are. “The future of health is connected, trusted and proactive — and it’s a road we’re glad to be traveling together.”

Additionally, Illuminated Precision Knobs for Slide-in Ranges provide clear visual feedback by lighting up when the cooktop is in use, helping consumers instantly see when the cooktop is on. The built-in display is designed to be intuitive and user-friendly, as well, making it easier to view and adjust cooking settings. This results in enhanced usability in the kitchen.

Samsung also brings a premium touch to everyday interactions through its Soft Close Door for Slide-in Ranges. Whether users push the door shut with a foot or close it firmly with one hand, the mechanism softly catches the door and guides it shut. The functionality provided by Soft Close Door is similar to soft-close features found in premium automobiles, bringing elegance and ease to users while they cook.

More Efficient Cooking With Appliances Designed To Work Together

Samsung’s new Over-the-Range Microwave with Air Fry Max is designed to complement the Slide-in Ranges both functionally and aesthetically.

With Air Fry Max available on both the microwave and the ranges, consumers can prepare larger meals or cook multiple air-fried dishes at once. The feature delivers crispy, healthier results up to 15% faster,⁶ while Convection Cooking circulates heat to maintain a consistent temperature throughout the cavity, which helps cook meals faster⁷ and more evenly.

The Slide-in Range and Over-the-Range Microwave also work together through Auto Connectivity,⁸ which wirelessly syncs the two appliances for an intuitive and convenient cooking experience. When the cooktop is turned on, for example, the Microwave automatically activates its light and ventilation hood. This helps improve visibility and airflow while reducing the need for manual adjustments.

Furthermore, the Over-the-Range Microwave features a slanted, ergonomic design that provides clear visibility to the cooktop while seamlessly blending in with the rest of the kitchen.

Staying Connected To Cooking With SmartThings

Both the Slide-in Ranges and Over-the-Range Microwave can be connected through SmartThings.⁹ This allows consumers to conveniently control, monitor and manage these appliances from their smartphone or with a voice assistant¹⁰ — while also helping them discover recipes¹¹ and plan meals more easily¹² using SmartThings Food.

Across seven generations of Galaxy foldables, Samsung has listened closely to consumer feedback. To meet these expectations, Samsung had to rethink how foldable displays are constructed by bringing together breakthroughs in technology, materials and mechanical engineering. The result is the latest milestone in foldable display innovation: Flex Titanium technology. By successfully integrating display innovation with device engineering, Samsung will continue to shape the direction of the mobile industry and deliver standout user experiences.

Flex Titanium: Next-Level Viewing

To create a display that provides an immersive viewing experience while maintaining its ability to withstand everyday use, Samsung took a new approach to structural design. This required a material strong enough to withstand external shock, flexible enough to endure repeated folding and thin enough to fit within a refined device structure. Balancing all three factors was essential to advancing foldable displays — and titanium offered the right mix.

Known for its resilience and strength, titanium has been used in some of the most demanding applications, including satellite antennas and the wheels of a Mars rover. While its strength makes titanium a dependable material, it also presents significant engineering challenges when applied to the thin and flexible structure of a foldable display due to its stiffness. Drawing on its expertise, Samsung has integrated titanium into two key components: a titanium-alloy film and a titanium plate.

The titanium-alloy film is a component that supports the display from within, sitting below the OLED panel. Compared with polymer film, it provides 20 times greater mechanical stiffness. A precision rolling process makes the material exceptionally thin — measuring roughly one-third the thickness of an average human hair — enabling a slimmer display panel.

Below this sits a robust titanium plate, a flexible structure that supports the display module from beneath. It allows tighter bonding with the display module by eliminating air gaps between the module and the adhesive on the plate through advanced hole processing technology. This new structure provides more stable support underneath the display when unfolded while retaining the flexibility needed to accommodate repeated folding.

Furthermore, by integrating a high-resolution architecture and next-generation organic materials, the new display delivers ultra-vivid display resolution while reducing power consumption — delivering a dramatic boost in overall power efficiency.

Samsung Electronics today announced the launch of its new Bespoke AI Washer and Dryer lineup,¹ designed to meet growing consumer demand for appliances that can reduce everyday effort, help manage energy consumption and integrate seamlessly into connected homes.² Combining enhanced AI features, an intuitive Smart Screen experience and SmartThings-enabled³ energy management, the lineup helps users manage laundry more conveniently and efficiently.

“As consumers increasingly seek appliances that adapt intelligently to their daily routines, Samsung continues to expand the role of AI across the home,” said Hyoung Min Park, VP and Head of the Customer Experience Team for the Digital Appliances (DA) Business at Samsung Electronics. “In this respect, the new Bespoke AI Washer and Dryer lineup delivers a more personalized and convenient laundry experience.”

Enhanced AI Features Deliver Intelligent Fabric Care

The new Bespoke AI Washer and Dryer are equipped with Samsung’s latest AI-enhanced laundry cycles, designed to optimize performance across a wider range of fabric types for smaller loads and laundry conditions.

On washers, AI Wash+ expands fabric recognition capabilities to include Outdoor and Denim fabrics in addition to the previously supported fabric types.⁴ Using multiple sensors, the system detects the weight and five different fabric types, automatically dispenses an appropriate amount of water and detergent, then continuously monitors soil levels during the wash cycle. If needed, it can adjust detergent usage and washing time to help deliver thorough yet efficient cleaning performance.

On dryers, AI Dry+⁵ analyzes the moisture level and drying temperature of a load while detecting four different fabric types.⁶ Based on these insights, it automatically adjusts the performance of the Inverter Compressor and Heat Exchanger to optimize drying conditions. By generating the appropriate amount of heat according to the weight and moisture content of each load, AI Dry+ helps reduce energy consumption and drying time by up to 20%.⁷

Smart Screen and Voice Control Simplify Everyday Laundry

The new lineup enhances everyday convenience with the Smart Screen,⁸ a 7-inch LCD that serves as an intuitive control center for laundry. The display provides easy access to functions and settings through touchscreen controls, while also personalizing the user experience by remembering usage habits, suggesting cycles⁹ and delivering timely information. After each cycle, users can access laundry reports through the SmartThings app,¹⁰ including insights into energy and water consumption. The lineup also features Samsung’s upgraded Bixby¹¹ voice assistant, which enables users to manage laundry more easily through natural voice interactions. For example, users can ask Bixby to start a preferred cycle, add extra rinsing, check remaining wash time or explain information shown on the screen without touching the controls. Bixby can also provide spoken feedback on information displayed on the screen, making laundry management more accessible and intuitive.

Connected Experiences Support Smarter Energy Management

Through SmartThings, users can access a range of connected features designed to enhance convenience and support more efficient energy management.

As household energy costs remain a key concern for consumers, the new lineup supports AI Energy Mode¹² in SmartThings Energy, which helps users monitor daily, weekly and monthly energy consumption while also providing estimated electricity costs. When compatible cycles are selected,¹³ AI Energy Mode can reduce energy use by up to 70% by applying AI Ecobubble technology¹⁴ to wash at lower temperatures and extending cycle time as needed.¹⁵ For the dryer, AI Energy Mode helps reduce energy use by up to 20%¹⁶ through intelligent optimization of the drying process.

The new Bespoke AI Washer delivers large-capacity performance in a 24-inch standard-depth design and is available in capacities ranging from 10.5kg to 13kg, depending on market availability. The matching-design dryer is available in capacities ranging from 9kg to 13kg. At ISTELive 2026 in Orlando, Florida, Samsung Electronics showcased how connected classroom technology and artificial intelligence (AI) are helping educators create more engaging and personalized learning experiences. By demonstrating new software innovations for its Android-based Interactive Display portfolio, Samsung highlighted how integrated classroom technologies can help schools improve collaboration, simplify device management and better support diverse learning needs.

Samsung introduced AMS (Account Management Solution) and expanded Samsung AI Assistant capabilities, alongside updates to Samsung Education Portal, to create a more personalized and efficiently managed shared classroom display experience. AMS enables educators to securely sign in to compatible Interactive Displays using a QR code or NFC-enabled ID card, instantly accessing their apps, files and personalized settings on any compatible display across campus, while Samsung Education Portal supports centralized user, device and emergency alert management for IT teams.¹

Samsung AI Assistant complements this experience with practical AI tools, including Circle to Search, Live Transcript, AI Summary and AI Quiz, that help teachers quickly find instructional content, generate lesson recaps, create formative assessments and support multilingual learners.² Together, these solutions empower educators to spend less time managing technology and more time focused on teaching.

Supporting Educators Through Practical AI

Unsurprisingly, artificial intelligence was one of the most talked-about topics throughout ISTE, with educators expressing strong interest in tools that enhance, not replace, teaching.

During a joint session, Jonathan del Rosario, Head of Product, Display Solutions Division, Samsung Electronics America, and Madeleine Mortimore, Global Education Innovation & Research Lead, Logitech, explored how thoughtfully designed technology can increase classroom engagement while reducing friction for educators.

“The educator remains driving force in the classroom,” said del Rosario. “We design our Interactive Displays to make lesson planning and classroom engagement easier, using AI to help teachers focus more on students while creating richer, more immersive learning experiences.”

The Samsung-Logitech conversation underscored a broader shift toward integrated classroom ecosystems, where hardware, software and pedagogy work together to enable differentiated instruction and sustained student engagement. The discussion also highlighted growing momentum around connected, scalable learning environments, as schools increasingly prioritize unified platforms that extend beyond individual classrooms to support campus-wide collaboration and consistency.

“It’s no longer enough to have a device with an app and call it a day,” said Mortimore. “The right combination of hardware and software enables students to hear and be heard, see and be seen, and interact effectively with both the technology and their peers.”

Educators Demo Classroom-Ready Innovation

Throughout the conference, educators experienced Samsung’s newest AI-powered capabilities firsthand, with many emphasizing their immediate classroom applications.

Tambra Clark, Technology Integration Facilitator at Birmingham City Schools and a Samsung Solve for Tomorrow Top 10 winner, highlighted Samsung AI Assistant’s Circle to Search feature as a significant time saver, allowing teachers to instantly surface credible instructional resources without disrupting the flow of a lesson. Clark also described the Live Transcript, AI Summary and AI Quiz capabilities as transformative classroom tools that simplify lesson reflection and formative assessment.

“The transcription component is the secret sauce,” said Clark. “It listens to your lesson, creates a summary and even generates a quiz from what you taught. It becomes an incredible reflective tool for teachers while helping identify where students may need additional support.”

Jelena Zivko, Senior Instructional Technology Specialist with Volusia County School District, emphasized how Samsung AMS addresses one of today’s biggest classroom challenges: supporting teachers who regularly move between learning spaces.

“The seamless login experience means teachers can walk into any classroom and immediately have access to their lessons, files and personalized teaching environment,” said Zivko. “It also opens opportunities for substitute teachers, multilingual instruction and extending learning beyond the classroom through summaries and transcripts.”

Building Connected Classrooms for the Future

Beyond new software capabilities, Samsung showcased its expanding Android-based Interactive Display portfolio, including the upcoming WAF-S, WAFX-PS and WAHX-M models. The new lineup introduces Android 16, expanded AI capabilities and, for the first time, a 98-inch Interactive Display designed for larger instructional spaces such as lecture halls and collaborative learning environments.

Samsung’s commitment to advancing classroom technology was also recognized at ISTELive 26, where the WAFX-P Interactive Display received three Tech & Learning Best of Show Awards. The display was honored in the Primary, Secondary and Higher Education categories for its ability to support more engaging, collaborative and accessible learning experiences through AI-powered tools, seamless connectivity and intuitive classroom functionality.

Enhanced Energy Efficiency

The new Bespoke AI Washer Dryer meets top-tier energy efficiency ratings in applicable labeling systems in markets where it is available, with select models in European markets exceeding Class A minimum energy efficiency requirements by up to 35 percent.² The new washer-dryer leverages a combination of advanced technologies, including AI Ecobubble,³ a circulation pump and optimized algorithms. Together, these innovations help reduce energy consumption without compromising cleaning performance.

In particular, AI Ecobubble transforms detergent into bubbles that more quickly penetrate fabrics. The technology improves soil removal by up to 20 percent⁴ while enabling effective washing at lower temperatures.

Additionally, through AI Energy Mode⁵ in SmartThings Energy,⁶ users can monitor energy consumption and estimated electricity costs. When compatible cycles are selected, the feature can reduce energy use by up to 70 percent⁷ by washing at lower temperatures and adjusting cycle time as needed.

Smarter Fabric Care for Every Load

The new Bespoke AI Washer Dryer provides specific cycles that help users to care for their laundry in smarter ways.

First, the Air Wash⁸ cycle refreshes garments and bedding without water or detergent. Once the cycle is selected, it blows super-hot air onto the laundry to freshen fabrics. Through this function, Air Wash offers a convenient way to care for items that do not require a full wash cycle, helping maintain fabric quality over time.

Second, the AI Wash cycle works to make fabric care easier.⁹ AI Wash automatically senses the weight, softness and soil level of each load, then intelligently dispenses the appropriate amount of water and detergent. It continuously adjusts soak, rinse and spin times to optimize washing performance for thorough yet gentle results. At the same time, the Flex Auto Dispense System automatically dispenses the appropriate amount of detergent and softener for every wash.¹⁰

Connected Experiences Through SmartThings

Available on select models,¹¹ AI Control helps simplify laundry management through a more personalized experience. By learning user habits, including frequently used cycles and settings, the system can suggest cycles based on machine learning as well as periodic, weather and seasonal needs.¹² Through the SmartThings app, users can also access cycle recommendations, laundry planning features and troubleshooting support.

SmartThings supports Quick Remote¹³ on compatible Galaxy smartphones, as well.¹⁴ When users approach the appliance,¹⁵ a Quick Remote interface can automatically appear on the phone,¹⁶ providing convenient access to key controls such as power and start/stop¹⁷ functions. This enables users to manage laundry more conveniently without needing to locate a separate control interface or open the SmartThings app.

Featuring high-speed data transfer and an optimized controller architecture, PM1763 is expected to serve as a key storage solution for high-performance AI platforms.

“Built on industry-leading performance, PM1763 has successfully completed validation for next-generation AI platforms and is well positioned to support evolving AI infrastructure requirements,” said Jangseok Choi, Vice President and Head of Memory Product Planning at Samsung Electronics. “As AI models continue to grow in size and complexity, PM1763 will serve as a key solution that enables customers to efficiently scale memory capacity and optimize AI operations.”

Incorporating Samsung’s 9th-generation V-NAND and a newly developed 4-nanometer (nm) controller, PM1763 significantly improves both performance and power efficiency.

PM1763 is available in 4-terabyte (TB), 8TB and 16TB capacities, with the 16TB configuration delivering industry-leading performance with sequential read and write speeds of up to 28,400 megabytes-per-second (MB/s) and 21,900MB/s, respectively — more than 2 times the performance of its predecessor, PM1753.

This level of performance allows the transfer of a 40-gigabyte (GB) large language model (LLM) in approximately 1.4 seconds, helping minimize data latency between processors and accelerators while improving overall AI processing efficiency.

PM1763 is optimized for liquid-cooled server environments through direct-to-chip (D2C) cooling technology. This enables sustained peak performance even under intensive workloads and extended operating conditions.

Power efficiency is also improved by more than 1.8 times compared to its predecessor, helping reduce overall datacenter operating costs.

To address growing security requirements in AI, Samsung has also strengthened PM1763’s security capabilities. The drive supports post-quantum cryptography (PQC) algorithms designed to protect against future quantum computing threats, as well as TEE Device Interface Security Protocol (TDISP),¹ which helps secure data pathways in virtualized environments.

Can a work of visual art be experienced as sound? For Karim Noureldin, it can. The Swiss artist creates abstract works that guide the eye across the composition like rhythm in music, revealing new details the longer they are viewed. Noureldin describes this as “a visual sound,” an idea rooted in drawing and reflected across works shaped by line, color, surface and space.

Noureldin’s “Brea” (2025) will be presented to view digitally as part of the new Art Basel in Basel 2026 Collection. Available exclusively on Samsung Art Store, the collection presents 24 works by Swiss and Switzerland-based artists represented by eight galleries participating in the fair. “Brea” was chosen for its distinct color palette and use of bold pattern, both central to Noureldin’s broader practice. Samsung Newsroom spoke with Noureldin about drawing, abstraction and what changes when art is experienced at home.

The Sensory Language of “Brea”

Q. “Brea” (2025) is part of the Art Basel in Basel 2026 Collection on Samsung Art Store. What can you share about the process behind this work?

“Brea” began with the process of drawing as a way to build an imagined space. I created it with pencil because drawing allows me to think, plan, imagine and picture at the same time. I have worked with pencil for a long time and I still see it as one of the most direct ways to begin an idea. The movement of drawing also feels close to writing words by hand.

Working on paper allows me to see a space that is not fully physical yet. I find it easier to create a three-dimensional world in this format than by painting on canvas. This is why drawing has remained so important to me. Its energy has been with me since early in my work as an artist and it is present in “Brea.”

Q. How do line, surface and structure work together in “Brea”?

In “Brea,” line, structure and surface are not separate elements. They build on each other. The lines create movement, the surfaces create depth and the structure holds these parts together. Through this relationship, the work can begin to feel like a space the viewer enters through their own perception. The author George Stolz has described “Brea” as creating a kind of spatiality through the way its surfaces come together. I think that is close to how I see the work.

Defining a Spatial Language

Q. How has your approach to making art stayed the same over time?

My approach has stayed the same through a steady commitment to the work. I studied fine arts, later served as an associate professor at ECAL/University of Arts and Design Lausanne and have tutored younger Swiss artists. Those experiences shaped how I think about art, but they did not change the reason I make it. I still approach each work with the same motivation and focus I had early on. Being able to make art is something I always dreamed of doing and I continue to do it with dedication and gratitude.

Q. What connects the different forms you work in?

No matter the form, my work applies the same abstract language and creative process to different media. I often think of each medium as a different instrument. The sound changes, but the composition comes from the same place. The works can appear at a small or large scale, within a specific site or as independent pieces. What connects them is the same attention to line, color, rhythm and space.

Q. What does abstraction allow you to do?

Abstraction allows for timelessness and universality. It’s not fixed to one subject or moment. It can remain open, so each viewer can meet the work through their own perception.

Q. How do you think about the relationship between an artwork and the place where it is seen?

Space and art, as well as artworks and their built surroundings, are inexorably related to each other. Whether a work was created for a specific site, placed within one or simply viewed there, each condition shapes what the work can express and do.

How Art Forms Unity Within a Home

“When we have art in our homes, it becomes part of one’s daily life.”

Q. What feels meaningful to you about viewers encountering your work at home through Samsung Art TV?

Living with art brings art back to a private and personal space. With Samsung Art TVs, the work moves from the artist’s studio into a home, where it can be experienced daily rather than only during a visit to an institution. It helps keep visual creativity top of mind for everyone, even if they aren’t an artist.

Q. When an artwork becomes part of the home, what can repeated viewing reveal that might not be noticed at first?

When we have art in our homes, it becomes part of one’s daily life and changes with the conditions around it. Different times of day, different lighting shifts or even moods changing each time a piece is viewed. These small details can change the appearance of a work over time, making it a unified element of the home.

Q. Samsung Art Store will introduce your work to some viewers who may not know your practice yet. What would you hope they notice first in “Brea”?

I would hope they first notice “Brea” as a visual sound. By that, I mean a composition that can be felt through rhythm and movement much like music can be felt without words. Before trying to define it, I hope they spend time with every element of its structure to understand how it can speak to more than one sense.

Conducted in and around Tokyo, spanning dense urban, suburban and rural areas, the test leveraged 100 MHz of 3.7 GHz TDD spectrum across hundreds of cells. The diverse traffic and network environments allowed robust AI model training to be carried out across real-world conditions. During peak hours, Samsung’s RSO delivered an average increase of 31% in 5G downlink throughput across the overall trial area, with gains reaching a maximum increase of 52% in dense urban areas. In addition to substantial performance gains, the trial highlighted the potential and effectiveness of AI-based solutions to enable more precise and adaptive network optimization in commercial environments.

Samsung’s AI-powered RSO is built to enhance network performance through distinctive parameter optimization per cell. This is a significant change and advancement, where AI-tuned customization moves beyond the conventional cluster-level approach that applies the same parameter settings across multiple cells. Samsung’s RSO uses its own AI-based prediction model to analyze site environment data automatically and recommend optimized parameters tailored to each individual cell. The RSO is part of the Samsung CognitiV Network Operations Suite (NOS), a set of diverse AI-powered network automation solutions, AI agents and intelligent applications.

This trial benefits operators by automatically adjusting to changing conditions across different network scenarios, allowing for reduced manual intervention and greater cost efficiency. For end users, this means faster and more reliable connections whether they are streaming videos, browsing the web or making calls.

Samsung AMS: Personalizing the Shared Display Experience

In schools where multiple teachers use the same classroom display throughout the day, access and privacy can become daily challenges. Samsung Account Management Solution (AMS), which comes pre-installed on compatible Android-based Samsung Interactive Display lineup models, allows each teacher to access their own account using a QR code or an NFC-enabled ID card.¹ This streamlined sign-in experience helps schools support shared devices without relying on local profiles tied to a single display.

With Home Personalization, Samsung AMS supports cloud-connected profiles, allowing teachers to access their preferred layout, wallpaper, bookmarks, app shortcuts, files and settings when they sign in to compatible displays in different classrooms. This transforms any shared display into a personalized teaching workspace, giving teachers a consistent experience from room to room.

For added security, teachers can instantly activate a screen lock when they need to leave the classroom for brief amounts of time.

As schools add more connected displays, IT teams need a simpler way to manage users, devices and classroom permissions. Samsung Education Portal provides a central location for IT managers to register teachers and enroll devices. In terms of user management, NFC binding links NFC cards to teacher accounts so staff can sign in to shared displays with their assigned cards. IT teams can also enable Samsung AMS on selected displays and manage account access when needed, allowing classrooms to stay ready for the next teacher.

Samsung Education Portal also includes Tags, a feature that lets IT teams group displays by school, building or classroom. The same tags can support emergency alerts, enabling schools to push preconfigured alerts to selected Samsung Interactive Displays through major notification platforms like InformaCast and Raptor.²

Samsung AI Assistant: Supporting More Efficient Teaching and More Active Learning

Samsung AI Assistant provides AI tools for common classroom tasks directly on compatible Android-based Samsung Interactive Displays. The app supports content discovery, transcription, summaries and quizzes, helping teachers encourage student focus, participation and comprehension throughout lessons.

With Circle to Search,³ teachers can circle on-screen text or images to find related information, visuals, videos and web links without leaving the display. Results can also be used in other classroom apps, such as Samsung Whiteboard, so teachers can bring supporting materials into the lesson more easily. Live Transcript converts spoken instruction into real-time text on the screen, making lessons easier to follow for students with hearing impairments, as well as multilingual learners.⁴

Samsung AI Assistant also includes AI Summary and AI Quiz. Using recorded lesson content, AI Quiz generates questions that allow teachers to assess student comprehension in real time. This keeps students engaged through the end of the lesson, while giving teachers immediate visibility into class performance, such as the overall correct answer rate. With Single Sign-On for Samsung AI Assistant through Samsung AMS, teachers can return to previous lesson materials, including AI-generated summaries, without signing in again.

Samsung Brings More Choice to Classroom Display Technology

Samsung AI Assistant is currently available following its April release, while Samsung AMS will be available beginning in July alongside related Samsung Education Portal updates.⁵

Samsung’s Android-based Interactive Display portfolio gives schools a range of options for classrooms, media rooms and shared learning spaces, with three new models: WAF-S, WAFX-PS and WAHX-M.⁶ These models, along with the existing WAF and WAFX-P series, support Samsung AI Assistant and Samsung AMS. The lineup is also EDLA-certified,⁷ providing seamless access to services like Google Classroom and Google Drive, which further enrich the educational experience.

Available in 65-, 75-, 86- and 98-inch sizes, WAHX-M supports on-device AI features⁸ such as voice command, AI calculator and text-to-speech, along with Samsung AMS and the Samsung AI Assistant app.

Athene Galiciadis’ work draws its force from the movement of repeated forms. Across paintings, sculptures and installations, the Zurich-based artist uses grids, curves and blocks of color to build a formal language shaped by pattern, material experimentation and references spanning concrete art, design, craft, science and literature.

Galiciadis’ “Stillleben (Reflection on Longings and Belongings)” and “Stillleben (Window)” have been selected for the Art Basel in Basel (ABB) 2026 Collection on Samsung Art Store. The works were chosen for their strong use of color and pattern, qualities that translate naturally to the digital viewing experience on Samsung Art Store. Created in partnership with Art Basel, the digital collection features works by Switzerland-based artists from participating galleries and brings contemporary art from the fair to Samsung Art Store subscribers worldwide. Samsung Newsroom spoke with Galiciadis about form, color, the ideas behind the selected works and how digital presentation can bring art into the home.

A Personal Language Through Patterns

Q. Your work has a distinct language of shapes, colors and materials. How did this visual system develop?

I began developing this visual language while studying Fine Arts at ECAL(École cantonale d’art de Lausanne) in Lausanne. At the time, many artists in the Lausanne art scene were working with Neo-Geo aesthetics. I admired the rigor of that language, but I never fully connected with its precision. Rather than adopting it directly, I tried to translate it into something that felt closer to me.

I started working with geometric forms, patterns, repetition and symmetry, but I deliberately embraced the handmade. Every shape was drawn or painted by hand, making it unique and slightly different from the one beside it. The patterns shifted subtly across the surface, not through a predetermined system, but through the small variations that naturally arise from manual repetition.

Q. How do you think about rhythm, variation and change within a composition?

Repetition has always been central to my practice, but I have never been interested in repetition as exact duplication. Because my forms are drawn and painted by hand, no element is ever completely identical to another. A line becomes slightly thicker, a shape shifts, a color changes in intensity. These differences accumulate and create a sense of movement across the surface.

I often think of repetition in terms of rhythm rather than pattern. A pattern suggests a fixed system, whereas rhythm allows for fluctuation, pauses, accelerations and unexpected turns. In that sense, my compositions are perhaps closer to biology than to geometry. They are structured, but never entirely predictable. They repeat, but never in exactly the same way. Over time, this visual language has become more than a tool. I see it as a placeholder for “in-betweenness,” a way to hold ambiguity, transition and multiple meanings at once.

Q. How much of a work is planned before you begin and how much is decided through the act of making it?

I usually begin with a very clear image in my mind. I think visually, so many works start as an almost complete mental picture rather than a concept expressed in words. What fascinates me is that the finished work never looks exactly like that initial image. The image has to pass through materials, gestures, scale, time and the realities of the studio. In that translation, things inevitably shift.

I do not see these deviations as mistakes or compromises. On the contrary, they are often where the work becomes most interesting. While the starting point is often highly defined, the final work is always shaped through the act of making. It is a conversation between intention and discovery, between what I envisioned and what the work itself asks for along the way.

Q. Are there certain materials, colors or forms you find yourself returning to over time? If so, what keeps drawing you back to them?

Yes, there are certain forms, colors and motifs that keep returning: snakes, spirals, pinks, triangles, zigzags and many others. I do not consciously decide to revisit them; rather, they seem to reappear on their own, as if they still have something to teach me.

I often think of artistic research as a spiral rather than a linear progression. You engage with something, move away from it, explore other directions and then return to it later. But when you come back, neither you nor the motif is quite the same. Perhaps this is why I am drawn to recurring forms. They become companions in a long-term conversation. Each time they reappear, they carry traces of previous works while opening up new questions and possibilities.

The Meaning of “Stillleben”

“The same structures that provide comfort and a sense of home can also become mechanisms of separation and exclusion.”

Q. Your palette often moves between soft pinks, greens and yellows, with darker blues and blacks adding contrast. How do you think about color as a way to shape tension, depth or atmosphere?

For me, color is something deeply personal. I do not approach it primarily as a decorative element or as a way of illustrating an idea. Rather, color is a way of thinking and a form of artistic research.

In many ways, this process replaces language. Instead of formulating thoughts through words, I compose with layered colors. Through this slow accumulation, I search for nuances, tensions and relationships that are difficult for me to articulate verbally. The depth that emerges is not only visual but also emotional and conceptual.

Q. What can you share about the works selected for the Art Basel in Basel 2026 Collection on Samsung Art Store and the moment in which they were made?

This work emerged within a larger constellation of paintings that I was developing simultaneously in the studio. I rarely work on a single canvas at a time. Instead, several works evolve alongside one another, creating a kind of conversation. What appears on one canvas often migrates to another; a color, form, rhythm or idea that begins in one painting may find a different articulation in the next.

Both works were created within such a process. They carry traces of multiple explorations and conversations taking place across different canvases at the same time. Looking back, I see each work as part of an ongoing reflection on questions that continue to occupy me: belonging, displacement, memory, inheritance and transformation. Rather than offering answers, the painting became a space where these themes could coexist and interact.

Q. How did the title “Stillleben (Reflection on Longings and Belongings)” come to the work and what does it add to the viewer’s understanding of the piece?

The title emerged from two conditions that often feel inseparable. Questions of migration, displacement, in-betweenness, transformation, inheritance and identity run throughout my practice and shape how I understand the world. What does it mean to belong? Who is included and who remains outside? Belonging can offer shelter, care and nourishment, but it can also produce boundaries and exclusions.

Longing is particularly difficult to describe. For me, it is often connected to a desire to bridge a gap that is always present but was never entirely my own. It can be inherited across generations, carried through stories, silences, memories and cultural interruptions. It is a longing for connection, continuity and understanding, while knowing that some distances can never be fully overcome.

The same structures that provide comfort and a sense of home can also become mechanisms of separation and exclusion. For me, “Stillleben (Reflection on Longings and Belongings)”inhabits this space of contradiction. It reflects on the simultaneous desire to belong and the awareness that belonging is never simple, fixed or innocent.

Where Art Finds New Meaning at Home

Q. Samsung Art Store gives people a way to encounter world-class art in the spaces where they live. What interests you about that everyday relationship with artwork?

What interests me most is the possibility of creating an everyday relationship with art. Some of the most meaningful encounters with artworks happen not in museums, but in the spaces where we live and spend our time. When you encounter an artwork repeatedly, it becomes part of your daily life and the relationship deepens over time to become a piece of your memories and personal history.

This resonates with my interest in collaboration, participation and community building. I enjoy forms of access that allow art to enter everyday environments. Through projects such as Actioning, I have explored how meaning emerges through shared experiences and sustained engagement. I see art as something that can create connections and become part of a shared cultural life.

Q. How do you think the experience of viewing art changes when a work becomes part of a home environment?

I think the experience becomes slower and more intimate. In a museum, we often encounter artworks briefly and alongside many others. At home, the relationship unfolds over time and the artwork becomes part of everyday life.

You might notice it while drinking your morning coffee, passing through a room or returning home after a difficult day. Sometimes you look closely; other times it simply exists in the background. Yet it continues to shape the atmosphere of a space.

The work becomes an ongoing relationship. Meanings can shift over time and details that initially went unnoticed may suddenly become important. As the viewer changes, the work changes too. This reflects how I understand art: not as a fixed message, but as something open that continues to generate new associations.

Q. For viewers who may discover your work for the first time through Samsung Art Store, what would you hope they take time to notice?

I would invite them to spend a little time with the work and allow their eyes to wander. At first glance, my paintings may appear structured, repetitive or geometric. But if you stay with them for a while, small shifts, irregularities and transformations begin to emerge.

I hope viewers notice that nothing is ever entirely fixed. Forms repeat, but they also change. Colors overlap, reveal and conceal one another. What may initially seem stable gradually becomes more fluid and complex.

Perhaps most of all, I hope people allow themselves to experience the work without feeling the need to immediately understand or interpret it. Much of my practice is concerned with things that exist between categories: between belonging and displacement, order and unpredictability, memory and imagination. These are experiences that cannot always be translated into words.

If viewers take the time to notice the rhythms, layers and subtle variations within the work, they may discover that the painting is less about providing answers than about creating space for reflection, curiosity and personal associations. I hope everyone can find their own point of entry and build their own relationship with the work over time.

What Is Sensor Fusion and How Is It Important for Call Quality?

When it comes to taking calls, an earbud’s microphone is much farther from your mouth than a phone’s, making your voice highly susceptible to being drowned out by ambient noise. For traditional earbuds relying on a single sensor, this physical limitation often means compromised call quality, especially when ambient noise is louder than the user’s voice.

To overcome this, Samsung applied an environment-aware Sensor Fusion technology¹ for Galaxy Buds4 Pro. Instead of relying on one input, Samsung’s technology intelligently combines multiple sensors to recognize and adapt to the surrounding environment.

Galaxy Buds4 Pro is equipped with three microphones — two external microphones directly capture a user’s voice, while a third internal microphone detects speech transmitted within the body. Importantly, a Voice Pickup Unit (VPU) sensor based on bone conduction also detects the head’s physical vibrations when a user speaks.

An AI-based system called a Deep Neural Network (DNN) — modeled loosely on the structure of the human brain — serves as the core noise reduction technology within Galaxy Buds4 Pro’s Sensor Fusion technology. Since 2020, Generation17 has supported Young Leaders worldwide with Samsung Galaxy technology, mentorship and networking opportunities to amplify their stories and solutions.

On the coast of San Jacinto in northwest Ecuador, a group of university students are up before dawn, combing the shoreline by red light so as not to disturb the sea turtles nesting nearby. For some of the students, it’s the first time they have ever seen the ocean. As the sun rises, they head out to tour mangroves by boat. They later return to clean plastic waste from the beach before heading back to the classroom to learn how it all connects to ocean conservation and climate action.

This is what Academia del Océano looks like in practice: hands-on science education that has long been out of reach for Spanish-speaking communities. The organization was co-founded by José Francisco Ochoa, a biologist from southern Ecuador whose love of nature led him to ocean science and to a belief that protecting our environment starts with making science education accessible.

Together with three colleagues, Juan Fernando Pesántez, Nicole Auz and Francisca Hernández, José Francisco set out to bridge that language gap. “Ocean and climate science is often only in English,” José Francisco Ochoa says. “That means entire communities have been left out of the conversation — and the solutions.”

Science in Spanish

José Francisco grew up surrounded by nature, always curious about the world around him. “I wanted to explore,” he says. “I always wanted to work in the field, with the community.” He channeled that curiosity into a biology degree and a career in ocean conservation.

The deeper he dove, the more clearly he saw the language barrier at work. It was more than an inconvenience. It limited who could enter the profession and help protect the ocean.

So, in 2023, José Francisco and his colleagues founded Academia del Océano — one of the first ocean education centers in Ecuador to teach entirely in Spanish. Their mission: to democratize access to ocean and climate science, advancing the UN’s Global Goal for quality education (Goal 4).

At their coastal center in San Jacinto, courses cover marine biology, ocean conservation and citizen science. Their curriculum supports the Global Goals for life below water (Goal 14) and climate action (Goal 13). In addition, a certified partnership with one of Ecuador’s top universities gives students credentials in marine conservation and marine biology to jumpstart their careers. “We are empowering young people to be leaders in their communities through education and technology,” says José Francisco.

Scaling the Mission

Beyond San Jacinto, Academia del Océano reaches students across more than 10 countries through virtual programming and an active online community — bringing ocean and climate education in Spanish to wherever students are. To power that content, José Francisco and his team use AI to develop curriculum and create multimedia resources that break down complex scientific language into accessible lessons.

Their impact is growing. Since 2023, Academia del Océano has trained more than 10,000 students, awarded over 500 certifications in ocean science, planted more than 2,200 mangrove seeds and released roughly 5,000 sea turtle hatchlings. “Many of our students go on to work in ocean conservation and environmental science,” says José Francisco, “taking what they’ve learned back to their communities.”

Kerly Martinez, a 2025 graduate, says the program inspired her to start an ecotourism company. “We talk about responsible tourism, conservation, waste and plastic issues,” she says. “And I learned all of this right here in Academia del Océano.”

The organization has also been recognized as an official activity of the Ocean Decade, a global initiative coordinated by UNESCO’s Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission to advance ocean science through 2030.

Just the Beginning

José Francisco’s vision for the future extends well beyond Ecuador’s coast. He hopes to expand what he and his colleagues have built to reach more Spanish-speaking communities, equipping a new generation to protect their local ecosystems and contribute to ocean research in their own regions. “My dream is that Academia del Océano becomes the greatest platform in the world in terms of ocean education and environmental action,” he says.

For the students arriving at San Jacinto’s shoreline for the first time and for the millions across Latin America who have never had ocean science in their own language, that dream is already taking shape.

Wearable technologies have become a widely available and cost-effective way to capture continuous, real-world health data, making them extremely appealing for clinical research. However, many research programs struggle to translate wearable-generated signals into clinically meaningful evidence.

Samsung addresses this challenge through an integrated approach that combines its latest advancements in wearable technology with clinically validated measurements, including bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) and electrodermal activity (EDA), as well as Software as a Medical Device (SaMD) features such as obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and atrial fibrillation (AFib) detection, biomarker development expertise and research-related technical infrastructure designed to support evidence generation across the research lifecycle.

What changes, then, does the third generation of WindFree air conditioners bring after a decade of innovation? This year, Samsung introduced the new, AI-powered Bespoke AI WindFree Pro air conditioner, a unit that delivers cooling optimized to user environments and lifestyles. At the same time, its simple and restrained design offers a new interpretation of the relationship between appliances and living spaces.

Samsung Newsroom spoke with Yuna Park of the HVAC Design Group and Sujong Kim of the Aesthetic Intelligence Group in the Digital Appliances (DA) Business to gain deeper insight into the journey behind the creation of the third-generation WindFree design.

“An Air Conditioner That Resonates With Its Surroundings”: A New Paradigm for 10 Years of WindFree Design Innovation

Q. It has been 10 years since Samsung introduced the world’s first WindFree design and changed the air conditioner paradigm. What was the design direction behind the new 2026 AI WindFree air conditioner?

Yuna Park: The key concept that defines the third-generation WindFree design is “resonance with space.” The 2026 Bespoke AI WindFree air conditioner uses radar sensors to precisely recognize both users and their living environments, delivering the most comfortable experience for each situation. Inspired by architectural elements, we removed details that unnecessarily draw attention and focused on creating a product that naturally blends into its surroundings through distinctive material expression.

Q. What visual and structural changes were introduced in the newest Bespoke AI WindFree lineup and what design elements have been upgraded?

Yuna Park: While the second-generation design emphasized the aesthetic value of appliances through its “canvas design,” which framed the front of the product like a work of art, the third generation focuses on architectural expression that harmonizes with the entire space. We’ve simplified surface elements to their essence and redefined the relationship between function and space through refined dimensionality. The sculpted WindFree elements express the product’s functional evolution, while the areas that interact with surrounding furniture feature richer material expression to create a stronger sense of integration with the space.

A Minimalist Design Inspired by the Wall Itself: Bespoke AI WindFree Pro

Q. The Bespoke AI WindFree Pro blends naturally into the wall as if it were part of a single surface. It creates a very different impression from conventional wall-mounted air conditioners. Where did this design inspiration come from?

Yuna Park: Traditional wall-mounted air conditioners have been limited by complex internal structures required to deliver performance, resulting in segmented forms that often felt at odds with modern interiors. This time, we returned to the fundamental idea of an appliance that hangs on a wall. We applied the clean vertical and horizontal lines often found in architecture to the product’s form. The upper section, where people’s eyes naturally rest, was intentionally kept clean so it could visually merge with the surrounding wall, while the functional area where air is discharged was clearly separated and positioned at the bottom. By dividing the layout according to architectural proportions, we were able to create a clean form that blends into the wall as though it were part of it.

Q. What was the most challenging aspect of maintaining powerful cooling performance while achieving the minimalist appearance of a wall-mounted air conditioner?

Yuna Park: The multi-blade system, which precisely controls airflow, is a complex structure that plays a critical role in the air conditioner’s performance. If exposed, it could easily disrupt the clean lines of the exterior. Therefore, achieving the right balance between performance and aesthetics required close collaboration with the engineering team from the earliest stages of development. One of the key challenges was eliminating the visual disconnect caused by the exposure of internal mechanical structures when the two blades operate. To address this, we incorporated a sophisticated secondary blade that complements the movement of the main blade. Even when the blades are fully open during operation, the internal structures remain naturally concealed, allowing us to maximize cooling performance while maintaining a clean appearance at all times.

Q. Since wall-mounted air conditioners are often installed in bedrooms, studies and other personal spaces, what was the most important consideration in selecting colors and materials?

Sujong Kim: Neutrality was our highest priority. Personal spaces tend to reflect individual tastes more strongly than shared spaces such as living rooms. To avoid imposing a particular mood, we eliminated prominent gloss finishes and bold patterns. Instead, we applied a subtle etched texture that softly absorbs light and reduces visual fatigue. For color, we selected Essential White as the primary option because of its broad appeal. We also introduced Soapstone Charcoal, a deep yet soft dark tone designed for global markets — where demand for darker interior styles continues to grow. Together, these finishes create a calm and restrained atmosphere.

Q. Are there any design details that consumers may not immediately notice but that you hope they will appreciate?

Yuna Park: To express the evolved identity of WindFree, we’ve carefully refined both the size of the WindFree micro air holes and the density of their arrangement. It is a subtle detail designed to create perfect visual balance within the product’s clean outline. Beyond the exterior, we also paid close attention to the finish quality of the internal structures. Even when glimpses of internal components are visible during operation, they are designed to appear visually organized and refined.

From Appliances to Spatial Value: Samsung WindFree Air Conditioners and the Pursuit of Sustainable Design

Q. Samsung WindFree air conditioners have become an element that helps complete the overall experience of a space. Looking ahead, where do you see the design heading and what goals would you like to achieve as a designer?

Yuna Park: As AI technology continues to evolve, appliances will become increasingly intelligent. What matters most, however, is not showcasing technology but delivering experiences that feel natural and comfortable to users. Future WindFree designs will continue to soften the mechanical presence of air conditioners and strengthen the sense of stability they bring to the relationship between people and spaces. As a designer, I will continue exploring new materials and design expressions that expand the user’s spatial experience. Ultimately, I want air conditioners to be recognized not simply as machines that manage air, but as distinctive objects that elevate the overall quality of a space.

Sujong Kim: Another important pillar is sustainability. The future direction of CMF¹ design lies in maintaining WindFree’s unique character and design integrity while actively incorporating recycled materials and environmentally conscious finishing processes. We also hope to explore the use of natural materials often found in premium furniture and architectural interiors, such as fabric, wood and stone. Our goal is to create products that feel less like appliances and more like original elements of the architecture itself. I want users to move beyond saying, “This air conditioner has a beautiful design,” and instead feel, “My space — my home — has become more refined because of my WindFree air conditioner.”

Generative AI is rapidly shifting from the cloud to the device, driving a surge in the scale of data required for local processing. As a result, storage is evolving from a medium used primarily to store data to core infrastructure that supports AI computation.

Samsung’s UFS 5.0 integrates the latest embedded memory interface standard from JEDEC, achieving unparalleled performance levels with the industry’s highest bandwidth of up to 10.8 gigabytes per second (GB/s).

The new storage solution delivers a sequential read speed of up to 10.8 GB/s and a sequential write speed of up to 9.5 GB/s, speeds that are respectively more than twice as fast as those of the previous UFS 4.1 standard. This significant advancement enables much faster storage and processing of large data for on-device AI applications.

Power efficiency in Samsung’s UFS 5.0 is also improved by more than 40% compared to the company’s UFS 4.1 solution. This is achieved by implementing a number of new innovations, including clock gating and multi-voltage technologies. These enhancements help to considerably reduce the power required to transfer the same amount of data, drastically lowering overall power consumption and extending the battery life of next-generation mobile devices.

Samsung has engineered the UFS 5.0 solution into an ultra-compact package measuring just 7.5mm x 13mm x 0.9mm — making it 16.7% smaller than its predecessor. This form factor significantly boosts design flexibility and internal space utilization for a wide range of applications, including mobile, wearable and extended reality (XR) devices.

Samsung will begin mass production of its UFS 5.0 in the fourth quarter of this year in a variety of capacities up to one terabyte (TB). Through this breakthrough in UFS 5.0 technology, Samsung is staying ahead of industry needs and plans to scale up supply to meet the growth of next-generation device markets — ranging from flagship smartphones to XR headsets and AI wearables.

Each June, Basel, Switzerland becomes a meeting point for the global art world, with Art Basel’s flagship fair drawing leading galleries, artists, collectors and institutions to Messe Basel and cultural sites across the city.

From June 18 to 21, this year’s fair brought together 290 galleries from 43 countries and territories presenting works ranging from historical foundations to the most progressive contemporary and digital practices, reaffirming its place at the center of the international art calendar. As the Official Art TV provider of Art Basel, Samsung Electronics presented an experience that connected personal taste with digital curation, showing how Samsung Art Store can bring art discovered at the fair into everyday spaces through screens designed for the home.

A Living Gallery of Personal Aesthetic

Samsung Art Store is a digital art platform on Samsung Art TVs, where users can explore curated works from leading museums, galleries and artists. At Art Basel in Basel (ABB), the Samsung Art Store Lounge translated that experience into a physical exhibition, showing how digital curation can make art discovery more personal.

The experience began with a short order form. Visitors answered survey questions about what first drew their eye, what they looked for in art and what kind of piece would add meaning in their home. Their responses were scanned through a tablet, then matched to one of four curated themes: Geometric, Surreal, Vibrant or Painterly.

At the center of the lounge was the Art Wall, a gallery-style installation composed of Micro RGB, OLED,¹ The Frame Pro and The Frame displays from Samsung’s 2026 Art TV lineup. Once each order form was scanned, the Art Wall displayed artworks from the theme matched to the participant’s results.

“The Frame is so stylish and I loved how clearly you could see the artwork from every angle,” said an attendee.

The experience continued into the Giveaway Zone, where visitors received a custom warranty card and badge tied to their theme. The card playfully certified their art style, while the badge carried the result beyond the Art Wall, sparking conversations around shared tastes, contrasting preferences and the kinds of art guests imagined living with at home.

One attendee said, “I was surprised by how well the Vibrant theme matched my taste. The colors looked so rich on the Samsung Art TVs. I could picture one of those pieces bringing so much energy into my home.”

Between visitor sessions, the Art Wall shifted to highlight the city’s artistic identity, previewing Samsung’s new ABB 2026 Collection, curated exclusively for Samsung Art Store. Featuring 24 works by Swiss and Swiss-based artists from eight galleries exhibiting at this year’s fair, the collection offered a regional view of Basel through different generations, styles and ways of seeing.

An Artifact of Time, Framed by Daniel Arsham

As Samsung’s 2026 Art TV Ambassador, visual artist Daniel Arsham brought one of contemporary art’s most recognizable visual languages to The Frame Pro. Based in New York, Arsham is known for his concept of “fictional archaeology,” creating sculptures, drawings, films and architectural works that imagine present-day objects as relics from the future.

In collaboration with Samsung, Arsham created a custom bezel for The Frame Pro that brings his sculptural language to the television frame. Made with stone-like material, the bezel features a raised texture that recalls topographical maps and the erosion patterns seen throughout his work. The surrounding wallpaper was developed from ultra-high-resolution 3D scans of sculptures from Arsham’s studio, enlarging their crystalline and weathered surfaces into an immersive installation around the screen.

Together, the bezel and wallpaper gave The Frame Pro the feeling of an object already marked by time.

To mark his role as Samsung’s 2026 Art TV Ambassador, Arsham joined visitors at the Samsung Art Store Lounge for a June 17 book signing, giving guests a closer look at his practice and his collaboration with Samsung Art TV.

“An artist’s job is to interpret everyday life through their own lens. When viewers see that perspective, it creates a shared experience and a deeper connection,” said Arsham.

A Conversation on Discovering Your Artistic Sensibility

Samsung’s Basel story continued, moving from the fair floor to Gare du Nord for a special event, “Art Night with Samsung Art TV.” During the event, invited guests gathered for a conversation about finding art in everyday spaces and how Samsung Art TV brings curatorial instinct into the home.

The evening’s talk brought together voices from across art, curation and digital display. Moderated by content creator Daniel Fanslau, Arsham spoke alongside Karim Crippa, Director of Art Basel Paris and Daria Greene, Head of Content and Curation for Samsung Art Store how artistic sensibility is shaped by everyday experiences and how art can be curated, discovered and lived with.

The conversation returned to a simple idea: art can have a place in the home without losing its presence. Through Samsung Art TV and Samsung Art Store, artistic sensibility becomes something people can choose, display and return to every day.

Where Art Becomes Part of Home

Samsung Art Store brings more than 5,000 4K artworks from 800+ artists and 80+ partners into a single subscription service. Available across Samsung’s expanded 2026 Art TV lineup, the platform gives users access to museum and gallery works on screens designed for the home. In Basel, where the art world gathers around what comes next, Samsung Art TV offered a firsthand look at the future of art at home. On screen, a collection can grow with personal curation, new discoveries and the rhythms of daily life.

To meet these changing expectations, Samsung Electronics introduced Vision AI Companion (VAC), an integrated AI platform designed for TVs. Exclusive to Samsung TVs, VAC delivers AI-powered services that present relevant information without disrupting viewing and seamlessly connect users to related content.

In May, Samsung updated the VAC user interface and accelerated the service’s global rollout. Previously available in 38 countries including Korea, VAC has since expanded worldwide,¹ with support extended to more TV models. The company plans to bring the service to additional products and markets, giving more users access to AI-enhanced screen experiences.

Samsung Newsroom spoke with Donghee Han of the Experience Planning Group, Visual Display (VD) Business to learn more about how VAC is shaping the future of TV viewing.

AI Designed for the TV Screen

As AI becomes increasingly integrated into everyday life, consumers have naturally come to expect new AI-powered capabilities from their TVs. Yet questions remain about what role AI should play on TVs and which functions provide meaningful value.

“Building on Samsung TV’s longstanding technology leadership, we focused on making a wide range of AI features, content and apps easy to access, so users can enjoy them without navigating complex menus,” said Han. “Rather than simply showcasing technology, the goal was to bring together genuinely useful features that offer practical support while watching TV and make them available in one place.”

The starting point for VAC was the unique nature of TV as a device — one that differs from smartphones or PCs. “Because TV is designed primarily for viewing content on a large screen, AI interactions must be seamlessly connected to what is on screen without disrupting that experience,” he added.

When watching a movie, viewers may wonder, “Where was this film shot?” or “Who directed this?” Instead of reaching for a smartphone, they can simply ask questions about what they are watching and get answers instantly. “Conversational search allows users to resolve questions in the moment and continue exploring related content,” said Han. “It’s a fast, intuitive capability that only Samsung TVs can offer and a key differentiator.”

Natural Conversations, Smarter Discovery

VAC’s greatest strength is its natural language capabilities, allowing users to find content through conversations that feel as intuitive as speaking with another person. While traditional TV voice search typically requires an exact title or predefined genre, VAC interprets both the context and intent behind a viewer’s request.

“Even without knowing the exact title, users can describe a mood, actor or plot point that comes to mind — such as ‘Find me a movie where justice is served in a satisfying way’ or ‘Find me an animated movie about K-pop stars’ — and the AI understands the context to surface the most relevant results,” Han explained. “Because entering search terms with a TV remote can be cumbersome, the ability to find something by saying what comes to mind is an innovative leap in the viewing experience.”

VAC goes beyond providing information. “Since video is at the heart of the TV experience, we designed the service so conversations don’t end with a single answer,” he said. “By presenting related videos that users can watch immediately, VAC creates a direct connection between discovery and viewing.”

Han also explained the rationale behind developing an integrated platform tailored for TV. “We believed that simply bringing existing global AI services to TV would not be enough to create a truly optimized viewing experience,” he said. “Drawing on Samsung’s extensive expertise in smart TV platforms, we built a dedicated environment where viewing, conversation, information discovery and AI-generated content come together.”

AI-Curated Updates and Content

With the latest update, VAC introduces enhanced lifestyle features. Today’s Topic, for example, uses AI to summarize top news, lifestyle updates and sports highlights — eliminating the need to search for them manually.

“Today’s Topic was inspired by a simple question — what if AI could proactively find and summarize information users might be interested in?” Han said. “Beyond providing text-based information, the feature also recommends related videos worth watching.” As a result, viewers can quickly catch up on key developments and dive deeper into subjects of interest through related content.

Samsung also introduced the zero-depth user interface, designed to minimize unnecessary navigation. By displaying topic-based conversations directly on the home screen, users can explore AI features without moving between multiple screens.

“We focused on making AI features easier to access while preserving the natural flow of TV viewing,” he added.

Responsible AI for the TV Screen

Bringing AI services to a screen as familiar and ubiquitous as the TV presented challenges beyond the technology itself. Establishing strong policies and safeguards — particularly around copyright, privacy and data use — was a top priority.

“There was no clear roadmap for applying rapidly evolving AI technologies to the TV screen,” Han recalled. “Throughout the planning and development process, we had to make decisions and define principles ourselves.”

“There was certainly pressure to introduce new features quickly in a global AI landscape where new services emerge almost daily,” he continued. “But as a platform offered to households around the world under the Samsung name, building user trust mattered more than the speed of implementation.”

To support that goal, the team worked closely with Samsung’s legal department from the earliest stages of development, conducting a thorough review to ensure that every feature met company standards and was introduced responsibly. The result reflects not only technical innovation but also a commitment to earning user trust through robust policies and protections.

The Future of TV, Powered by AI

VAC focuses not only on implementing AI technology but also on integrating it naturally into the TV experience. This philosophy underpins Samsung’s vision for the future of screens. Unlike traditional smart TV services limited to predefined features and fixed interfaces, VAC is designed to adapt alongside changing user needs and market trends.

“Samsung TVs will move beyond menu-based navigation to become platforms that understand user intent and proactively connect users to relevant content,” Han explained. “By combining AI-powered conversations with the immersive experience of a large screen, everything from information discovery to content viewing can become part of a single journey.”

“TVs will continue to evolve toward a future where they better understand user intent and significantly broaden the viewing experience,” he continued. “Through VAC, we will keep enhancing both features and usability so more users can enjoy intuitive AI experiences on TV.”

Moving beyond screens that simply display content, Samsung TVs are becoming more intuitive companions. With VAC, Samsung is expanding the possibilities of smarter screen experiences by helping users discover information and content more naturally.

The new billboard campaigns will be showcased at locations in Korea, as well as iconic locations such as Times Square in New York, Piccadilly Circus in London, the Entertainment Building in Hong Kong and will run through the end of the year.

The advertising video featured in the campaign emphasizes the core features of the Micro RGB AI Engine Pro, highlighting how its precise color control produces deeper, more vibrant visuals.

Centering on a large-scale hip-hop dance performance created in collaboration with renowned choreographer Sergio Reis, the advertisement visually brings Micro RGB’s extensive array of red, green and blue backlights to life, along with the precision AI engine that controls them.

The campaign also highlights a range of viewing experiences, including AI Soccer Mode, which allows users to mute commentators to fully immerse themselves in the game and Vision AI Companion, which delivers real-time player and team statistics.

On June 2, Samsung and Abbott partnered with the Korean Red Cross to conduct Korea’s first XR-powered blood donation campaign at Samsung Digital City in Suwon. In the campaign held in recognition of World Blood Donor Day, Samsung employees experienced immersive meditation content while donating blood, with Korean Red Cross personnel on-site throughout the event.

Following the XR-powered blood donation campaign in Korea, Samsung and Abbott are preparing to expand the program through upcoming activations at major global events in the United States and Malaysia. These efforts aim to bring the Galaxy XR donation experience to more donors, healthcare professionals and blood bank stakeholders around the world.

Enhancing the Blood Donation Experience

After putting on Galaxy XR, donors enter a calming, Zen garden-inspired environment. Using only gaze-based interaction — no controllers, no hand gestures — they plant virtual flower seeds simply by looking at them. Over three to five minutes, flowers and trees bloom around them as music created in collaboration with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra plays in the background.

“As the boundary between the physical and digital worlds continues to blur, blood donation no longer has to be a stressful experience,” said James Pak, VP of the Global Mobile B2B Team at Samsung Electronics. “Through this initiative, we hope to demonstrate how Galaxy XR can extend beyond entertainment and productivity to create lasting social value.”

“Samsung Galaxy XR, powered by Android XR, represents a significant advancement for our mixed reality blood donation program,” said Miguel Carrazza of the Transfusion Medicine division at Abbott. “It is well-suited for healthcare settings, allowing medical staff to monitor donors more easily while helping them stay naturally engaged. Through our partnership with Samsung, Abbott is seeking opportunities to further expand the overall blood donation experience.”

Expanding Access to XR-Powered Donation

Since 2016, Abbott and Red Cross organizations have conducted blood donation campaigns in nearly 30 countries. Building on that foundation, Samsung and Abbott have introduced Galaxy XR into donation settings across multiple countries, with momentum growing ahead of major upcoming events.

“I try to donate blood at least once a year, but it can feel a little boring since you have to sit still,” said Geunwoo Park of the Networks Business at Samsung Electronics, who donated during the campaign. “Using Galaxy XR made it more enjoyable because there was something engaging to watch.”

“It was a unique experience to try Galaxy XR while donating blood,” said Gangsu Kim of the Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics, making his 20th blood donation. “I found the interactive content especially fascinating because it responded to where I was looking.”

Looking Ahead

The initiative continues to scale. At Augmented World Expo (AWE) in Long Beach, California, running June 15–18, Samsung and Abbott will host a four-day blood drive, bringing the Galaxy XR donation experience to thousands of attendees from across the XR ecosystem. Later in June, the initiative will be showcased at the International Society of Blood Transfusion (ISBT) Congress in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, where more than 100 blood bank decision-makers from around the world will have the opportunity to share the use cases.

Through these engagements, Samsung and Abbott are working to expand access to XR-powered donation experiences for donors, healthcare professionals and blood bank organizations worldwide.

S95H, the latest flagship OLED TV, recently earned Pantone Validated ArtfulColor certification, a designation awarded to TVs, displays, cameras and printers that reproduce color with a high degree of fidelity under controlled lighting conditions. That means stunningly precise colors when watching content and a realistic, museum-like experience when displaying art.

The certification is a particularly significant milestone for Samsung OLED, as S95H is engineered to deliver deep contrast, precise color expression and an unparalleled, distraction-free viewing experience. To learn more about what this means for the art-viewing experience, Samsung Newsroom spoke with Ed Hattenberger, OEM Senior Color Scientist and Matt Knoll, OEM Technical Director, at X-Rite Pantone. They share how Pantone Validated ArtfulColor is evaluated, why color fidelity matters for viewing art and how display performance can shape the way artwork is experienced at home.

Q. Could you tell us a bit about your role at Pantone and the work you do?

Hattenberger: As an OEM Senior Color Scientist at X-Rite Pantone, I’ve spent more than 15 years specializing in Pantone color development standards and in bringing real-world colors into the digital realm. I also led the innovation of various digital color products at Pantone, including the Pantone Validated program.

Knoll: I’m an OEM Technical Director for X-Rite Pantone. I have more than 20 years of experience in hardware and firmware development at X-Rite, with much of my work focused on reflective color measurement and display calibration products.

What Art Can Reveal About a Display

Q. What does Pantone Validated ArtfulColor evaluate and what does the validation mean for a display?

Hattenberger: Pantone Validated ArtfulColor evaluates the ability of displays to faithfully render on-screen colors to match an extensive range of physical Pantone Colors and Skin Tones under controlled lighting conditions. For displays, Pantone Validation means that a product’s color reproduction has been measured against Pantone’s reference color data and meets defined performance thresholds for color fidelity and consistency.

Knoll: Displays that earn ArtfulColor status reproduce the test colors with a high degree of visual accuracy, resulting in a close perceptual match between the on‑screen image and the physical color sample.

Q. What differences can viewers actually see when viewing a Pantone Validated ArtfulColor TV versus one that is not?

Hattenberger: A Pantone Validated ArtfulColor TV delivers more precise, trustworthy visuals, especially for artwork and photography. Viewers can expect cleaner neutrals, more lifelike skin tones and color saturation that better reflect the artist’s intent. These displays also preserve shadow detail, so every brushstroke and color appear more natural and consistent.

Q. Why does color fidelity matter more when a TV is used to display art and photography?

Knoll: In creative work, color is never incidental. Color, balance and slight variation all shape how a piece is experienced. That is why color fidelity matters so much. Even slight shifts can alter the mood, depth and overall intent of the original work.

The Science Behind Color Fidelity

Q. How does the ArtfulColor validation process work from start to finish?

Hattenberger: The process evaluates a display’s ability to match Pantone Colors under controlled lighting conditions. This involves measuring a set of Pantone colors and skin tones in a light booth, then assessing how faithfully the display reproduces them on screen under those same conditions.

Q. Why does controlled lighting matter when evaluating a display for art?

Knoll: Reproducing true real-world colors on screen depends on matching the light source, color sample and rendered content for the intended observer. Displays are typically measured against D65, an industry-standard white point that approximates neutral daylight, so it gives Pantone a consistent point of reference.

It also helps reduce the influence of warmer or cooler room lighting, which can change how white, contrast and color are perceived. Using controlled lighting helps ensure the display is evaluated as accurately and consistently as possible.

Q. How does Pantone make sure the results apply to real artwork and photography, not just lab test patterns?

Hattenberger: Pantone goes beyond digital test patterns by using physical color samples that behave more like real artistic media. That helps verify whether a display can accurately reproduce gradients, subtle tonal transitions, textures and near-neutral tones across artwork and other visually complex content.

At the same time, the home viewing environment can influence how color is perceived compared with a controlled test setting. Ambient light, reflections, viewing angle and even wall colors can all affect perception, so while validation confirms the display’s underlying performance, the room still plays an important role in what people see.

How Samsung OLED S95H Helps Art Look Its Best at Home

Q. From Pantone’s perspective, what makes Samsung OLED S95H well-suited to display art with high color fidelity?

Knoll: OLED is particularly well-suited to high-fidelity art reproduction because its pixel-level luminance control delivers true blacks and very high contrast, preserving fine detail critical to art. S95H’s wide color gamut supports accurate reproduction of saturated pigments, paints and digital art colors, while stable viewing angles help color and luminance remain consistent across the screen.

Q. Samsung OLED S95H features award-winning Glare Free technology that eliminates distracting reflections. How do glare and reflections affect the way art is seen on screen?

Hattenberger: Glare and reflections can interfere with the way art is seen on screen. They lift black levels and soften contrast, which can reduce depth and color fidelity, especially in darker parts of an image. They can also introduce color casts from the surrounding environment, affecting neutrals and shifting hues.

When people view art, they expect a clear, unobstructed image. Reducing reflections helps preserve tonal accuracy and the integrity of the work.

Q. How has Pantone’s validation approach evolved alongside newer display technologies like OLED, HDR and wide color gamut?

Knoll: Pantone’s evaluation approach has evolved with display technology itself. With OLED, that includes evaluating pixel-level luminance control, deeper contrast, wider color reproduction and consistency from bright highlights to near-black areas.

Q. When viewers see the Pantone Validated ArtfulColor mark on a Samsung TV, what does it say about the viewing experience?

Hattenberger: The ArtfulColor mark signifies that S95H has been carefully evaluated to confirm a high level of color fidelity, including consistent hue rendering, stable grayscale performance and repeatable color behavior under controlled lighting conditions.

Ultimately, it gives viewers greater confidence that the art they see on screen is being presented faithfully to the original work.

S95H newly joins The Frame Pro and The Frame in receiving the certification, as Samsung remains the only TV brand to offer Pantone Validation ArtfulColor and continues to expand Samsung Art Store¹ across more screens. S95H features the new FloatLayer Design, with a slim metal bezel that mounts flush to the wall for a floating effect. This gallery-inspired look makes the display a striking centerpiece, particularly when displaying art. For the first time on a Samsung OLED TV,² Samsung Art Store subscribers can access over 5,000 works by more than 800 artists, including exclusive collections from MoMA, Musée d’Orsay, Art Basel and others.

Developing wearables with the optimal fit and comfort remains a difficult yet crucial challenge. Not only do these factors make the device feel more seamless to use, but they are directly tied to maximizing overall performance and sensor accuracy. However, the fact that each person’s anatomy is completely unique presents a major hurdle. But what if there was a way to meticulously engineer comfort, fit and sensing so precisely, it could deliver the optimal experience for nearly everyone?

Samsung’s solution is Computational Design. This multidimensional process harnesses AI and advanced computing to analyze hundreds of thousands of quantitative and qualitative data points to generate, test and refine product designs with greater precision. The result is a fundamental shift from subjective feedback to objective, data-driven engineering, creating superior products with the optimal fit for the widest range of users.

That description captures computational design in the abstract — like a dictionary definition. To understand how computational design is actually used to create superior wearables, Samsung Newsroom visited the Samsung Design Innovation Center (SDIC) in San Francisco, home to the Computational Design Lab.

Spearheading the SDIC is Federico Casalegno, Executive Vice President and Head of the Samsung Design Innovation Center, who has spent the past two decades mastering the practice of computational design and leading the implementation of this core concept into Samsung’s product development. We sat down with Federico to discuss how SDIC employs computational design as a primary tool to create and optimize experiences for Samsung’s wearables, particularly the Galaxy Buds4 series.

Q. Tell us about SDIC’s role.

At SDIC, our mission is to deliver meaningful experiences by understanding people and their evolving lifestyles — always in the context of human-centered design. Ultimately, we want to delight customers and create products that help people live happier, healthier, more creative and more productive lives, while building a better future for all and preserving the environment. Q. What exactly is computational design and what is the philosophy behind it?

While we live in a unique era of technological innovation, Samsung’s approach to design was always deeply human-centered as we believe that technology without humanity is merely perfection without purpose. Computational design is how we bring this philosophy to life — it is the process of harnessing the immense power of AI, data and computing to design products for people, rather than expecting people to adapt to our products. This approach helps us to create devices that are fundamentally functional, intuitive, comfortable and beautifully crafted. Today, this methodology is applied all across our wearable portfolio, including Galaxy Watch8 series and Galaxy Buds4 series.

Q. How does computational design turn the ‘fit’ of a device into an objective, measurable metric?

For developing something as personal as a wearable that remains in contact with you for extended periods, fit is an essential element. It’s not just about comfort though; a secure fit is also needed for maximizing the precision of the device’s sensors. However, traditional design methods fail to measure wearability objectively, as they only rely on a small sample of people for product testing.

Computational design fundamentally changes this. By leveraging massive, digitalized datasets and advanced AI simulations, it transforms wearability into a quantifiable metric that allows Samsung to measure comfort and fit like never before. By being able to consider all the unique shapes and curves of the human ear or the wrist through computational design, our designers are equipped with trustworthy, objective insights that are difficult to attain through traditional methods.

Q. Tell us in detail how the computational design process works in the lab and how it was implemented in the Galaxy Buds4 series.

Our computational design process relies on three elements: real people, digital twins and robots. We capture 3D and 4D scans of a diverse global audience, integrating precise anatomical data to create ‘digital twins.’ We then run AI and physics-based simulations, cross-validating the results with physical robot testing.

For the Galaxy Buds4 series, we applied this exact process to achieve perfect wearing comfort and premium sound. We analyzed hundreds of millions of global ear data points and ran more than 10,000 simulations to perfect the new blade design. This objective data led us to subtly reduce the size of the main head¹ and refine the angle of rotation — minor adjustments that resulted in a dramatic, universally validated increase in stability and comfort.

Q. How does Samsung’s computational design ultimately benefit the users?

Samsung’s computational design process is powered by a unique proprietary dataset built exclusively from within Samsung and our team has developed several specialized AI programs based on this data. This combination gives us unique insights while we constantly innovate our design processes and methods. For Galaxy Buds and Watch specifically, this translates into improved wearing comfort, stability and sensor accuracy — key factors that elevate both the user experience and product performance.

Q. Looking ahead, how do you see Computational Design evolving over the next decade?

Computational design is now a foundational element of Samsung’s development process across all our wearable products. Our goal remains to maximize wearability, fit, comfort and sensor performance to ultimately serve the people using it.

Looking ahead, the true power of this process is its continuous evolution. As our dataset continues to grow, custom AI tools will drive more accurate simulations and deeper insights. These advancements will not only further improve product wearability, but also unlock exponential innovations down the line that lead to an entirely new category of wearables that can redefine the boundaries of user experience. Ultimately, this symbiotic partnership between computational design and AI frees our designers to be more creative, empowering us to deliver measurably superior products and experiences for the people who use them.

Recently, PLEATSMAMA expanded that approach to its retail spaces by introducing Samsung Electronics’ Color E-Paper, a next-generation signage solution designed to reduce paper point-of-purchase (POP) materials and printed guides.

In Seoul’s Samcheong-dong neighborhood, traditional Korean hanok buildings stand alongside contemporary galleries, cafés and boutiques. The area’s blend of heritage and modern creativity makes it a fitting home for PLEATSMAMA’s flagship store and its philosophy of thoughtful design and responsible living.

Samsung Newsroom met with Jong-mi Wang, founder and CEO of PLEATSMAMA and Min-kyung Lee, manager of the Samcheong store, to learn how Color E-Paper is extending the brand’s sustainability efforts into its retail space.

Turning Sustainability Into Everyday Practice

PLEATSMAMA uses 3D knitting technology to form each bag with minimal cutting and sewing, helping reduce fabric waste. The brand wanted to bring the same approach to store operations, where printed POP materials are frequently replaced with new product launches and promotions.

Color E-Paper emerged as a solution. The ultra-low-power digital signage features a paper-like texture that blends naturally with store interiors while allowing content to be easily updated after installation. The product also aligns with PLEATSMAMA’s focus on resource circulation, with 55% of its housing materials consisting of recycled plastic.

Launched earlier this year, the 13-inch model is the world’s first display to use bio-resin derived from plankton oil¹ — reducing carbon emissions during material production by more than 40% compared with conventional petroleum-based plastics.²

“Operating a store means constantly producing seasonal POP materials and guides, many of which are used only briefly,” said Wang. “As we looked for ways to communicate our brand message while reducing unnecessary resource use, we came across Samsung Color E-Paper and realized it could be a meaningful solution.”

Retail spaces use more paper posters than many might expect. With Color E-Paper, store staff can easily update promotional images, product information and brand content without repeatedly printing new materials. Wang described the shift as an important step toward making sustainability part of everyday operations rather than a one-time campaign.

Unlike printed signage, Color E-Paper allows content to be updated automatically through preset playlists and schedules. At its Samcheong store, PLEATSMAMA uses the 32-inch display to share “PLEATSMAMA Q&A” content in Korean, English and Japanese, helping local and international visitors better understand the brand.

“Japanese customers tend to spend more time in the store and carefully read the Japanese-language content,” said Lee. “Color E-Paper has made it easier to share product care instructions and the brand’s philosophy.”

Flexible, Efficient and Designed for Retail Spaces

Color E-Paper has also changed how PLEATSMAMA manages store operations. Previously, promotional materials had to be printed and replaced for every campaign and product launch. Now, store staff can update content in real time through the Samsung E-Paper App while managing playlists and schedules.

“In the past, the headquarters or operations team had to deliver POP materials whenever we launched a new product or campaign,” said Lee. “With Color E-Paper, store managers can remotely download and apply content immediately.”

“Promotions used to mean printing and manually replacing paper signage throughout the store,” she added. “Now, we can simply upload new content, significantly reducing waste.”

Color E-Paper supports PLEATSMAMA’s sustainability efforts through ultra-low power consumption, operating at zero watts power while displaying static content and consuming power only when content is updated.³

Available in a range of sizes and easy to install, the display can adapt to different spaces and uses.⁴ At PLEATSMAMA’s Samcheong store, the 13-inch model is often placed on tables or shelves for close-up viewing, while the larger 32-inch model displays more detailed content such as brand Q&As. Their lightweight, slim design makes the displays easy to move and reposition as the store layout changes.

“It was impressive to see the brand’s message reflected in the technology
used throughout the store.”

PLEATSMAMA also values how the signage fits naturally into the store environment. Color E-Paper’s paper-like surface and slim profile help it blend seamlessly into the space while showcasing the brand’s signature knit textures and colorful designs.

Color E-Paper uses a color imaging algorithm to deliver more natural colors and smoother image quality. As a result, the display feels less like a digital screen and more like part of the brand space.

“In the past, store staff often had to introduce products to customers, but now many discover items through the images on Color E-Paper and ask about them directly,” said Lee. “It has been exciting to see customers engage more actively with the content.”

“At first, I thought it was just a regular paper poster,” said one visitor. “I’m impressed by how naturally the brand’s sustainability message is reflected in the store’s technology.”

The Future of Sustainable Retail

For PLEATSMAMA, a sustainable lifestyle is less about dramatic changes and more about everyday choices — using products longer and minimizing unnecessary waste. This philosophy aligns closely with Samsung Color E-Paper’s focus on reducing paper and power consumption in everyday spaces.

“We are doing our best for the environment where we can make a difference, but there are limits to what a single brand can achieve alone,” said Wang. “That is why collaboration with companies like Samsung Electronics, which develop sustainable technology solutions, is meaningful. I believe retail will increasingly connect design, technology and sustainability.”

The collaboration between Samsung and PLEATSMAMA shows how sustainability can extend beyond products into the retail experience itself. When brand philosophy and technology align naturally, retail spaces can more clearly express a brand’s identity.

For health-conscious users, the Antioxidant Index,¹ available through Galaxy Watch8 and the Samsung Health app, is shown helping people check their wellness status and receive personalized meal suggestions to maintain healthy eating habits. Additionally, the AI Food Manager² in the Bespoke AI Refrigerator Family Hub simplifies ingredient management and offers tailored recipe recommendations.

For pet owners, Now Brief³ is shown reminding users to walk their dogs and records walk routes and duration in detail, through integration with Pet Care⁴ on the SmartThings app.

For families, the Call Screening feature on Galaxy smartphones is shown assisting elderly family members in avoiding unwanted calls, such as potential voice phishing attempts.⁵ These videos are being showcased on screens across major global landmarks such as Times Square in New York and Piccadilly Circus in London, as well as on Samsung’s official social media channels, including YouTube and Instagram.

Samsung Electronics today announced a major update to the Samsung Health app, transforming the upcoming Galaxy Watch into a proactive, intelligent health partner. Starting June 8, Samsung will begin rolling out the app update to showcase the key health features included in the upcoming Galaxy Watch. The update¹ makes daily health management effortless by translating complex biometric data — from overnight sleep to daily activity — into simple, actionable guidance.

• Heart Health Score: Improved Long-Term Wellness — Last year, Samsung introduced Vascular Load to help users monitor vascular stress and adopt a more holistic approach to health. Today, that vision evolves into the Heart Health Score. This single daily metric takes the insights previously found in Vascular Load — such as sleep, stress and activity — and combines them with body composition data. The result is a unified score that clearly identifies the habits impacting users’ long-term well-being, giving them immediate clarity on their heart health.

• Daily Cardio Load: Smarter Cardiovascular Training — When users are deciding how hard to push during aerobic exercise, Daily Cardio Load measures accumulated cardiovascular strain. By calculating daily load and maximum training capacity, it recommends optimal training targets and rest times to ensure users reach their goals without risking burnout or injury.

• Fitness Index: Seamless Progress Tracking — The Fitness Index ensures exercise routines are working by analyzing metrics like heart rate, VO₂ max (a key measure of aerobic fitness) and daily steps against users’ peers. At the center of the showroom, a kinetic art installation features two KUKA industrial robots moving a 65-inch Samsung Smart Signage display in perfect synchronization. Positioned in front of a Samsung IEA Indoor series 4K LED display composed of 64 cabinets, the panels open like a curtain to reveal vivid digital art across the large-scale backdrop. Content ranges from close-ups of performers to motion graphics and other dynamic visuals.

With a 2.0mm pixel pitch, the IEA series display delivers sharp detail and vivid color, even at close range. The clarity enhances the robot-led performance, allowing visitors to see how precisely KUKA’s robots move, respond and animate visual content.

In another area of the showroom, five vertically mounted 105-inch Samsung QPDX-5K Smart Signage displays in a 21:9 format create a realistic “production window” effect. The showroom also incorporates 16 Samsung VMC-R video wall displays, further expanding the installation’s visual range. Samsung Electronics today announced a new collaboration with MUNCH to add iconic artworks by Edvard Munch to Samsung Art Store. The digital collection makes 37 masterpieces such as “The Scream,” “The Dance of Life” and “Melancholy” — as well as several rare works from the museum’s collection — available to millions of users around the world.

Samsung Art Store Opens Up MUNCH Archives

Drawing inspiration from an orb and a dot, visual representations of how sound expands, its design stands out as a distinctive presence in any space. Meanwhile, its finely tuned acoustics flood a space with lush, immersive sound, elevating the fundamental value of audio.

Samsung Newsroom spoke with Jongmin Kim of the Product Planning Group, Jongbae Kim of the Sound Lab and Minsun Kang of the Product Design Group — all within the Visual Display (VD) Business Division — to explore how Music Studio redefines the boundaries between sound technology and design.

From Casual Listeners to Immersive Listeners: Tailoring the Listening Experience

The reasons people choose audio devices are more varied than ever, shaped by personal tastes and how they enjoy content. As immersive spatial audio from movies to games becomes a staple beyond just music, more listeners seek products that blend cutting-edge performance with inspired design.

Jongmin Kim explained the thinking behind Music Studio: “We focused on preserving the essence of sound while ensuring the product blends naturally into its surroundings, optimizing the overall user experience.” The decision to introduce two distinct models was based on in-depth consumer analysis. “We identified different needs between ‘casual listeners,’ who enjoy background music in their daily lives and ‘immersive listeners,’ who focus on the finer details of sound and fully engage with content,” Kim added. “Based on this, we differentiated the core value of each model to better serve each listening style.”

Collaboration with global partners was also a key factor in expanding the listening experience. “To deliver meaningful value to users, we worked closely with our partners,” Kim said. “As a result, we were able to introduce Spotify Tap — a Wi-Fi-based feature that allows users to start music with a single button press without using a smartphone — to Music Studio for the first time globally, creating a differentiated user experience unique to Samsung audio products.”

Bringing Live-Like Immersion to Everyday Spaces With Music Studio 7

Creating an immersive audio environment requires highly sophisticated sound engineering. Designed specifically for spatial audio, Music Studio 7 underwent nearly two years of development and validation. At its core is a 3.1.1 Channel system that delivers sound in four directions — front, left, right and upward — along with advanced acoustic technologies that precisely control each channel.

Jongbae Kim emphasized, “To create a sense of space from a single device, it is essential to control each channel so that sounds do not blend together. The ‘Waveguide’ and ‘Pattern Control’ technologies applied to Music Studio 7 are core technologies for spatial audio sound.”

The high-frequency range, which has strong directivity, can be easily controlled using the physical structure of the Waveguide. However, the mid-frequency range, which has relatively longer wavelengths, is difficult to narrow down in directivity using only the Waveguide. Pattern Control is a technology that suppresses specific sound areas using phase control signals. By inputting phase control signals based on Left, Right and Top channels into the front channel, it prevents the directivity of each channel from spreading unnecessarily. This enhances channel separation and delivers a more immersive sense of depth and 3D moving effects, even with a single speaker. Kim explained, “With these technologies, we have made it possible to clearly perceive the precise location and movement of sound using just one speaker.”

To push performance even further, AI Dynamic Bass Control tackles the low-frequency distortion often found in compact speakers. This technology automatically analyzes and fine-tunes the woofer’s nonlinear movement, delivering deep, powerful bass from a surprisingly small package.

Music Studio 5 Balances Design and Sound Through Refined Aesthetics

Music Studio 5 offers harmonious sound wrapped in sculptural elegance and lifestyle-oriented design. Minsun Kang shared, “One of our biggest challenges was preserving Music Studio’s unique look while making sure it excelled as a speaker.”

A key influence was the collaboration with acclaimed furniture designer Erwan Bouroullec, which helped define Samsung Audio’s design language. Kang noted, “Blending Bouroullec’s artistic vision with Samsung’s practical approach, we crafted a look that feels at home as part of daily life.” Early on, the team experimented with bold forms to spark creativity, but turning these ideas into a high-performing speaker brought unique technical hurdles in arranging components and perfecting the acoustic structure.

Kang shared, “To achieve both sculptural refinement and rich sound, we used a micro-perforated design on the front of the product. From afar, it stands out as a striking piece, but up close, its structure reveals the essence of audio.” In recognition of its design brilliance, Music Studio 5 was honored with the Gold Award at the prestigious iF Design Awards 2026. Kang added, “This achievement is the result of close teamwork with Bouroullec and the relentless dedication of our entire design team. We feel a special connection to this product, as it truly captures the meeting point of technology and aesthetics.”

In addition, Samsung’s proprietary Bluetooth audio codec, SSC (Samsung Seamless Codec), ensures stable, high-quality sound even without wires, perfectly uniting sleek design with top-tier performance.

Expanding the Sound Ecosystem With Q-Symphony

Rather than functioning as a standalone device, Music Studio offers an integrated entertainment experience through seamless connectivity and optimized sound synchronization across devices. As a Wi-Fi speaker with fully wireless connections except for power, it offers the flexibility to place it freely throughout the home. Jongmin Kim emphasized, “Regardless of where it is placed, Music Studio delivers sound optimized for the user’s listening environment, whether for music or video content.”

The Q-Symphony feature, which wirelessly connects with Samsung TVs, further enhances this experience. Supporting up to five devices simultaneously — including 2026 Wi-Fi speakers and soundbars — creates a more immersive surround-sound environment without limitations across product types.

Kim explained, “Users can freely configure the system to suit different spaces and use cases — for example, by connecting up to five Music Studio 7 units or pairing a Q-Series Soundbar with four Music Studio speakers. In such a configuration, the system supports up to 19.1.8-channel output, delivering dense, room-filling sound.”

He continued, “Our ultimate goal is to expand connectivity to a wide range of platforms — including partner products, TVs and mobile — so that users can experience optimal sound throughout every moment they engage with content.”

Going beyond the conventional speaker form, Music Studio sets a new standard for both performance and design. Samsung Audio’s innovation continues to enrich everyday spaces with immersive sound and refined aesthetics.

Following the industry’s first mass production and commercial shipment of its industry-leading HBM4 earlier this year, Samsung now extends its HBM roadmap with the introduction of HBM4E samples, addressing the rapidly evolving demands of AI computing and hyperscale infrastructure.

“Following the successful mass production of HBM4, Samsung has once again demonstrated its distinct technological edge with HBM4E,” said Sang Joon Hwang, Executive Vice President and Head of Memory Development at Samsung Electronics. “Through our advanced manufacturing capabilities and preemptive infrastructure investments, we will continue to drive the growth of the global AI memory market.”

Samsung’s HBM4E delivers a stable pin speed of 14 gigabits-per-second (Gbps), with performance scalable up to 16Gbps to support increasingly intensive data processing requirements. This represents more than a 20% increase over its HBM4, while delivering memory bandwidth of up to 3.6 terabytes-per-second (TB/s) per stack, helping maximize computing performance for large language models (LLMs) and next-generation AI systems.

Samsung’s 12-layer HBM4E is offered in a 48-gigabyte (GB) capacity, representing more than a 30% increase over the previous generation, with plans to expand the lineup to include 32GB (8-layer) and 64GB (16-layer) configurations in accordance with customer requirements.

The HBM4E sets itself apart by taking full advantage of Samsung’s comprehensive semiconductor capabilities and leveraging the same leading-edge technologies refined through the company’s HBM4 production experience. This includes the industry’s most advanced 6th-generation 10-nanometer (nm)-class DRAM process (1c) and Samsung Foundry’s 4nm logic base die, allowing the HBM4E to secure enhanced process stability and manufacturability.

Design and process optimization across both memory and logic architectures of Samsung’s HBM4E also improves performance, power efficiency and yield.

In particular, advanced low-power design technologies and optimized packaging structures improved energy efficiency by 16% and thermal resistance characteristics by more than 14% compared to the previous generation. These enhancements also enable more effective heat dissipation, allowing prolonged reliability and lower energy consumption in next-generation data centers with intensive workloads.

Samsung plans to begin mass production for HBM4E aligned with customer schedules, following initial sample shipments and optimization.

Feedback from global customers on Samsung’s HBM4, introduced in February, have been highly positive, especially for its performance and energy efficiency. The HBM4 was the first in the industry to enter mass production and has successfully set the bar for the industry with speeds of 11.7Gbps in its system in package (SiP) tests.

As stable supply of Samsung’s HBM4 continues to grow, the company’s latest HBM4E using the same combination of core and base die is anticipated to enter mass production to further accelerate innovation in next-generation AI systems. With its comprehensive portfolio spanning memory, foundry, logic design and advanced packaging, Samsung will continue to ensure a stable semiconductor supply for the booming AI market.

As GLP-1 medications become widely adopted for weight management and chronic disease treatment, tracking changes in muscle mass and physical activity alongside weight loss has emerged as a key medical focus. This research will delve into the feasibility of managing muscle loss for GLP-1 patients by utilizing biometric data including body composition, activity levels and heart rate provided by Galaxy Watch and Samsung Health.

Samsung and MGH have continuously collaborated on digital health research utilizing both Galaxy Watch and Samsung Health, including studies on Advanced Glycation End Products (AGEs). The MGH Diabetes Research Center, which specializes in research on diabetes and GLP-1 obesity treatment, initiated the joint study with Samsung after recognizing the potential for wearables to monitor body composition.

This study will also utilize Galaxy Watch8, powered by Samsung’s groundbreaking BioActive Sensor,² which helps provide advanced predictive and preventative wellness through more accurate health measurements.

Under the leadership of Dr. Melissa Putman, the study will enroll 100 adults beginning treatment with weight-loss medications into two groups. The intervention group will use Galaxy Watch to monitor their body composition via Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis (BIA), track physical activity and receive personalized exercise guides. Their progress will be compared to the other group, which will receive the standard guidance and care typically given to patients starting GLP-1RA therapy.

To evaluate the study’s progress, researchers will use clinical-grade DXA scans³ — the gold standard for body composition analysis — to track physiological changes in both groups. These data will help determine whether the insights and tailored guidance provided by Galaxy Watch8 can effectively support participants in building healthier daily habits, which may in turn contribute to better health outcomes particularly in preserving muscle mass.

“Many GLP-1 patients struggle with muscle mass loss, a common side effect that can cause an increased risk of cardiovascular disease and a drop in basal metabolic rate, which can lead to future weight regain,” said Dr. Putman, Director of the MGH Diabetes Research Center. “We’re interested in exploring how continuous data from a wearable device can provide invaluable insights into a patient’s activity levels, heart rate and body composition, giving clinicians a more holistic view of treatment impact and allowing for more timely, data-driven adjustments to their care plan.”

“This collaboration with MGH focuses on addressing real-world health challenges that patients face during GLP-1RA therapy, specifically managing muscle loss and building healthy habits,” said Jongmin Choi, Head of Health R&D Group, Mobile eXperience (MX) Business, Samsung Electronics. “Ultimately, this study highlights Samsung’s ongoing commitment to delivering comprehensive and proactive health management solutions through the advanced capabilities of Galaxy Watch.”

Samsung continues to expand its partnerships with leading medical institutions to advance wearable health monitoring capabilities and broaden the digital health ecosystem. Recently, Samsung demonstrated the potential for early vasovagal syncope (VVS) detection using Galaxy Watch in a joint clinical study with Chung-Ang University Gwangmyeong Hospital in Korea and also collaborated with Stanford Medicine to further advance Galaxy Watch’s Sleep Apnea feature.

This sensor has been featured in Galaxy Watch devices since the release of Galaxy Watch4 in 2021, allowing users to measure and monitor various health indicators, such as body composition, heart rate, blood pressure and ECG tracking. ︎

Universally recognized as the “gold standard” for body composition analysis, it is widely utilized in clinical research to accurately evaluate physiological changes. ︎

From adopting micro-size RGB (red, green and blue) LEDs as a backlight unit to pursuing enhanced color expression and integrating AI technology for ultra-large displays, the development of the Micro RGB TV was a continuous series of firsts — with virtually no reference points to guide the process.

Samsung Newsroom spoke with Insang Hwang of the Visual Display (VD) Business Division’s Product Planning Group to learn more about how this new category of the Micro RGB TV was developed.

Creating a New Category With No Reference

The Micro RGB TV began as a project to create an entirely new category in the TV market. Hwang recalled, “Because the mission was to create a category that didn’t previously exist, every department — from development to sales and marketing — had to work together with a shared sense of urgency and responsibility.”

One of the biggest challenges was the absence of any reference point. The team had to develop new technologies and products from scratch while simultaneously defining the value they could deliver to consumers. “We went beyond simply applying RGB light sources,” he said. “We developed a proprietary concept called ‘Micro RGB,’ which miniaturized even the backlight unit itself to the micro level.”

Pursuing 100% BT.2020 — The “Ultimate Color Gamut”

At the core of the Micro RGB TV is its color reproduction. By applying RGB LEDs as the backlight unit, the display achieves wide and highly accurate color reproduction.

“Although the Micro RGB TV started with the goal of delivering richer color reproduction, there was no clearly defined industry standard at the time,” Hwang said. “We felt a strong sense of responsibility, believing that the conditions we set could become the new standard for the market. That’s why we set the ambitious goal of achieving ‘100% BT.2020’ — the ultra-high-definition color standard defined by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and often referred to as the ‘ultimate color gamut.’”

Achieving 100% BT.2020 means that a level of color reproduction once limited to professional monitors can now be experienced on TVs — one of the most widely used displays in everyday home environments. It also marks a significant advancement in the technical standards of the display industry.

The journey, however, was far from easy. “In the early stages of development, we struggled to reach the target values,” Hwang recalled. “However, through persistent efforts to achieve perfect color reproduction, the development team was ultimately able to meet its goal.” He added, “It wasn’t just about developing new technology. We also worked to establish measurable standards to validate its performance.”

Bringing Cutting-Edge Technology Into Everyday Viewing

For product planners, the top priority is to convert advanced technology into an experience that users can easily perceive in everyday life. “We continuously thought about how to translate Micro RGB’s powerful hardware performance into a practical viewing experience,” Hwang said. “We focused on making its key strength — color — something users can feel naturally in everyday content while delivering an immersive viewing experience.”

“While Micro RGB achieves one of the highest color gamuts available in TVs today, only a limited amount of content fully utilizes it,” he noted. “So we enhanced software capabilities to ensure users can experience the difference across a wider range of content — from HDR content to everyday content such as OTT streaming and sports.”

One of the key features is Micro RGB Color Booster Pro. Hwang explained, “Leveraging a high-performance neural processing unit (NPU), AI analyzes content in real time to enhance color expression with precision. This allows users to enjoy Micro RGB’s vivid color performance not only in HDR content but also in everyday viewing.”

He added, “For example, in soccer — one of the sports most frequently watched on TVs — the newly introduced AI Soccer Mode Pro automatically detects the content and enhances colors such as the grass and team uniforms. With the global football season kicking off in June, it’s a feature worth noting for those seeking a more immersive viewing experience.”

In addition, the TV incorporates a Glare Free feature designed for real-world viewing environments. “We applied glare-free technology so users can consistently enjoy Micro RGB’s exceptional color performance regardless of lighting conditions,” Hwang explained. “Whether in a dark room or a brightly lit space, viewers can stay fully immersed without reflections interfering with the screen.”

Scaling Immersion With a 130-Inch Display

The newly introduced 130-inch ultra-large model delivers an overwhelming sense of immersion, as if the entire wall comes to life. As screen size increases, maintaining image detail becomes increasingly critical.

Hwang said, “We equipped the TV with Supersize Picture Enhancer, an AI-powered picture quality technology optimized for ultra-large displays. Thanks to this, viewers can enjoy Micro RGB’s rich colors and sharp image quality without distortion or pixelation.”

The sound experience and design were also significantly enhanced. “With a 160W 10.4.2-channel speaker system, the TV delivers immersive sound that fills the entire space without the need for external speakers,” he added.

The Micro RGB TV’s signature wall-mount design further reinforces immersion by blending the display seamlessly into its surroundings. “We developed a proprietary pocket structure and wall-mount bracket¹ so the TV can sit flush against the wall with virtually no gap,” Hwang explained. “We focused on delivering an optimized viewing experience for ultra-large screens across picture quality, sound and design.”

Toward the Next-Generation Screen Experience

The Micro RGB TV goes beyond technological advancement — it expands the boundaries of how users experience screens in everyday life while setting new standards for the industry.

“Samsung TVs are evolving into screens that seamlessly integrate into users’ lifestyles and living spaces, understanding their preferences through data and enabling interactions,” Hwang said. “They will go beyond content consumption to become powerful platforms that connect limitless experiences and services.”
