Samsung Electronics today announced that it has once again secured its position as Europe’s No. 1 selling microwave brand, marking eleven consecutive years at the top of the segment.¹

According to market intelligence firm Euromonitor International, Samsung recorded the highest microwave retail volume sales in Europe in 2025. With this achievement, the company has maintained its position in the region every year since 2015.

Samsung has consistently tailored its microwave portfolio to consumer preferences by adding core features that enhance kitchen convenience. One notable example is CERAMIC INSIDE, a ceramic-coated interior that is easy to clean after cooking and helps preserve its color over time, even when exposed to high heat or grease.² In addition, the surface is up to 24 times more scratch-resistant than stainless steel,³ supporting long-lasting durability.

In 2024, Samsung expanded its offerings with the smart convection microwave oven, enhancing everyday convenience through SmartThings compatibility.⁴ Users can monitor and control the microwave remotely via their smartphones,⁵ even when away from the kitchen. At the heart of the model is Motion Wind — a three-blade system¹ that creates seven tailored airflow patterns,² ranging from powerful Max Wind for rapid cooling to gentle WindFree for draft-free comfort. The two AI-driven modes³ are AI Direct Wind, which follows the user with targeted airflow for immediate cooling, and AI Indirect Wind, which keeps the user comfortable without blowing air directly onto them.

The model also features AI Fast & Comfort Cooling,⁴ which analyzes indoor and outdoor temperature, humidity and room size to automatically activate the right cooling mode — Fast Cooling for instant temperature reduction, WindFree for comfortable draft-free cooling and Dry Comfort for pleasant dehumidification without cold air. Users can also activate AI Energy Mode via the SmartThings app, which analyzes usage patterns and environmental conditions to reduce energy consumption by up to 30%.⁵

All-in-One Heat Pump System for Year-Round Home Comfort

In the EHS zone, Samsung is spotlighting an all-in-one heat pump system that combines a single outdoor unit with an indoor unit (EHS ClimateHub) to support space heating, cooling and domestic hot water through both air and water in one integrated system.

The system enables flexible, year-round residential operation, supporting simultaneous functions such as water-based space heating with air heating, water cooling with air cooling or hot water supply combined with air heating — delivering adaptable comfort across seasons. The fully integrated design also enables efficient heat recovery; rather than discharging heat absorbed during cooling outdoors, the system can redirect it for water-based space heating or domestic hot water production — and vice versa. This results in a COP of up to 8.2,⁶ making it a highly energy-efficient solution for year-round residential comfort.

Strengthening HVAC Solutions for Various Commercial Needs

Samsung is also showcasing a broad lineup of commercial HVAC solutions, including DVM systems and chiller offerings tailored to diverse building requirements.

This includes Samsung’s latest VRF system, named DVM S2+. The new DVM S2+ is equipped with R32 refrigerant in line with global standards, as well as built-in safety measures that ensure peace of mind. DVM S2+ also comes with on-device AI features that add convenience.⁷ For example, AI Adaptive Control⁸ adjusts the outdoor unit’s performance based on its surroundings to help reduce energy usage by up to 25%⁹ under certain conditions.

Bespoke AI: Smart, Connected and Reliable Kitchen Innovation

Also, on display at KBIS is the Bespoke AI Refrigerator Family Hub, which features the innovation AI Vision. Powered by advanced camera-based recognition technology. This allows users to effortlessly check the contents of their refrigerator and efficiently manage ingredient lists.² Previously, the system could recognize up to 37 types of fresh food and 50 types of pre-registered processed food directly on-device.³ Samsung plans to enhance this feature to overcome existing limitations, enabling recognition of an even greater variety of food items.

A diverse range of Bespoke AI products — including dishwashers, ovens and laundry appliances — are also on display for KBIS visitors to experience. Connected control through SmartThings² is a key differentiator of these products, as it allows users to conveniently monitor devices from their smartphones. At this year’s exhibition, Samsung directly engaged with its partners to share its differentiated business vision and AI-based HVAC solutions, while further strengthening mid- to long-term partnerships built on mutual trust.

Q. What were the key products and solutions showcased at this year’s Expo?

Samsung unveiled a wide range of solutions that bring enhanced convenience and connectivity to diverse industrial applications and customer environments.

In the commercial segment, Samsung introduced the DVM S2+, a high-efficiency, large-capacity air-conditioning solution with significantly enhanced AI capabilities. At its core is on-device AI that learns from its environment in real time to minimize energy consumption while delivering optimal indoor comfort.

In line with residential sustainability trends, Samsung is targeting the North American unitary¹ market with Hylex, an inverter-based outdoor unit that uses the low global warming potential (GWP)² R454B refrigerant, as a key product. HVAC is a core technology that regulates temperature and humidity across residential, commercial and industrial facilities, and the HVAC sector plays an essential role in supporting everyday life by providing optimal air conditions in these spaces. In recent years, the market has gained further momentum amid global efforts to address climate change, paired with increasingly comprehensive regulations on eco-conscious energy use. Looking ahead, Samsung anticipates the market to grow annually at a stable rate of approximately 5%.

Samsung is focusing on scaling HVAC services in connection with smart homes and smart cities. This year, the key trends in the U.S. market are sustainability and high efficiency. Environmental regulations such as the adoption of low-GWP refrigerants are continuing to expand into the commercial sector, alongside new design and installation standards being introduced. In response, the market is shifting away from high energy-consuming, fixed-speed air conditioners toward high-efficiency inverter heat pump systems.

In the residential segment, demand for eco-conscious HVAC heat pumps is steadily increasing, while the adoption of VRF (Variable Refrigerant Flow) systems is accelerating in the commercial sector. This is driving greater diversification across HVAC solutions, while rising demand for AI data centers and high-performance computing is fueling the growth of precision cooling systems as an increasingly important market segment.

Moreover, AI-based predictive maintenance and optimization technologies — along with comfort and energy-saving solutions enabled by a wide range of IoT sensors — are becoming more widespread, with improvements in energy and operational efficiency emerging as a key industry trend.

Q. What sets Samsung apart from its competitors in the highly competitive North American HVAC market?

In North America, the residential segment accounts for approximately 70% of the HVAC market, while the commercial segment represents about 30%. In the residential space, Samsung is expanding its regional distribution network with Samsung Lennox HVAC North America, its joint venture with leading residential HVAC provider Lennox. Through this venture, Samsung leverages its energy-efficient, inverter-based ductless lineup.

In the commercial segment, Samsung is working closely with FläktGroup, Europe’s largest HVAC equipment provider — which the company recently acquired. Also during the session, JS Moon, Head of R&D at the DA Business, highlighted how Samsung is tailoring its 2026 appliance portfolio to meet regional market needs. In North America, innovative form factors like the Bespoke AI Laundry Combo continued to drive strong growth. In addition to the AI lineup, new kitchen packages featuring unified stainless-steel designs are expected to satisfy local preferences in 2026.

In Europe, energy efficiency remains a top priority. Samsung has introduced highly efficient appliances, including the Bespoke AI washer, which is up to 65% more energy efficient than energy efficiency class A minimum requirements in Europe,¹ advanced HVAC solutions and built-in kitchen products designed to meet stringent sustainability expectations.

Latin America continues to see strong momentum led by laundry and air conditioning solutions, while rising interest in smart home ecosystems and localized AI features like regional language support and expanded AI Energy Mode represent a major growth opportunity in Asia.

Making Daily Life Easier: Appliances that See, Listen and Suggest

At the entrance to the exhibition, connected AI appliances offered a glimpse of how intelligent connectivity can support everyday life at home. The Bespoke AI Refrigerator Family Hub, a CES Innovation Awards 2026 honoree, displayed Now Brief — a personalized overview of schedules and activity information — on its screen. FoodNote recapped food intake patterns and recommended recipes to help users make more informed grocery decisions.

Bespoke AI Jet Bot Steam Ultra robot vacuum cleaners assessed their surroundings using built-in cameras before starting to clean, while users asked Bixby questions and received immediate, conversational responses. The experience highlighted how appliances that see, listen and suggest are transforming the way household tasks are managed.

AI-Enriched Kitchens: Intelligence at the Heart of Food

In the AI Kitchen zone, Samsung showcased a range of home appliances including the Bespoke AI Refrigerator Family Hub, Bespoke Double Wall Oven, Bespoke AI 3-Door AutoView French Door Refrigerator and the Bespoke AI Wine Cellar. The lineup delivered a differentiated food experience powered by enhanced AI Vision, with Google Gemini integrated into the Bespoke AI Refrigerator Family Hub — the first such integration in a home appliance.

Visitors saw how AI Vision in the Bespoke AI Refrigerator Family Hub recognizes a wider range of food items as ingredients are added to or removed from the refrigerator.

Building on this capability, an improved AI Food Manager supports ingredient management and grocery planning, recommends recipes, and analyzes refrigerator usage to generate reports that help users use food more efficiently.

Visitors tested how the refrigerator’s built-in camera  out AI Vision functions by placing ingredients and removing them from the refrigerator, demonstrating how AI Vison works. They were also invited to open and close refrigerator doors using the hands-free voice command feature, Auto Door.

For wine storage, the SmartThings-based AI Wine Manager recognized wine bottle labels, updated storage locations in real time and tracked detailed information such as the wine’s name, category, grape variety and vintage.

Samsung’s advanced AI Hybrid Cooling technology drew visitors’ attention, as the world’s first system to detect appliance usage conditions while adjusting cooling methods in real time. Built on a dual-power structure combining an AI Inverter Compressor and a Peltier element, the system operates each power source separately or together as needed — reducing energy consumption while maximizing cooling efficiency.

AI-Optimized Homecare: Intelligent Cleaning for Everyday Living

The Home Companion concept extends into garment care and cleaning too. From washing and drying to everyday cleaning, appliances assess conditions independently and operate accordingly, helping to reduce the daily burden of household chores.

The Bespoke AI Laundry Combo features an additional booster heat exchanger alongside the main heat exchanger, improving dehumidification by up to 15% and supporting a maximum drying capacity of 20 kilograms while helping prevent overheating.

AI Wash+ detects load weight, fabric type and soil level to automatically adjust water and detergent levels, wash intensity, and drying temperature and time. AI VRT+ uses AI to analyze floor types and reduce washing machine vibration, helping create a quieter laundry environment.

“I really find doing laundry bothersome. The Bespoke AI Combo seems like it would make the process much simpler, which would be extremely helpful,” said David Watkins, an industry analyst from France. “I think the biggest advantage of achieving zero housework is the time it saves.”

Garment care is further enhanced through seamless device connectivity. When a specialized cycle — such as a blouse cycle — is selected on the Bespoke AI Combo, the same setting is automatically synchronized with the Bespoke AI AirDresser for a smooth transition from washing to post-laundry care.

In addition, the wrinkle-focused care function uses powerful airflow and high-temperature steam to remove wrinkles in a short amount of time.

The cleaning lineup impressed visitors with its enhanced performance. Samsung showcased its cordless stick vacuums, including the Bespoke AI Jet Ultra which offers the world’s strongest suction power as well as the recently released Jet Fit, its lightest model to date.

The Bespoke AI Jet Bot Steam Ultra uses AI object and liquid recognition to intelligently identify furniture, cables and even colored or clear liquids — cleaning or avoiding them based on user settings. The EasyPass Wheel allows the robot vacuum to navigate door thresholds and mats up to 60 millimeters with ease, while side brushes and a mopping pad clean along corners and walls.

Powered by up to 10 watts of suction power and a Qualcomm Dragonwing AI chipset, the vacuum removes dust and debris from floors, washes mop pads at high temperatures and sanitizes them with 100 degrees Celsius steam — helping to reduce odors and maintain a cleaner, more hygienic home environment.

“I have three dogs, and hair gets everywhere,” said Vanessa Katherina Morales Gurrero, a digital content creator from Panama. “The robot vacuum will be my best friend.”

Durability and Reliability: Built to Last

For home appliances to serve as long-term companions, performance must be matched by durability. Over the past 50 years, Samsung has improved the design of key components — producing more than half a billion compressors and motors — to boost efficiency and durability while extending product lifespan.

Software support is equally robust. With up to seven years of software updates, users benefit from new features as well as ongoing improvements in device connectivity, security and the user interface. Samsung introduced Home Appliances Remote Management (HRC) in 2017 to allow users to update and manage their appliances. Visitors were introduced to the new AI version that can actively monitor performance and usage, recommending preventative measures before they come up.

Designed around the vision of freedom from household chores, Samsung’s Home Companion zone showcased how AI-powered capabilities and camera-, screen- and voice-based form factors are expanding the role of home appliances in everyday life. Samsung Electronics today convened leaders across industries to discuss the importance of smart home interoperability in the first of its Tech Forum panels at CES 2026 at The Wynn in Las Vegas, Nevada. In the session, titled “When Everything Clicks: How Open Ecosystems Deliver Impactful AI,” experts discussed how cross-industry partnerships are transforming connected homes into intelligent environments that feel seamless, safe and genuinely supportive of people’s lives.

The panelists agreed that the next era of home intelligence must be built on open collaboration, not closed ecosystems. As homes increasingly rely on devices and services from many brands and industries, openness enables AI systems to work together in ways that create real-world impact. Samsung shared its belief that open connectivity allows appliances, energy systems, safety services and partners across industries to deliver experiences that would be impossible in siloed environments.

AI Gallery Zone: An Artistic Welcome to AI Living

The AI Gallery zone welcomed visitors with iconic works from both Eastern and Western art, seamlessly integrated into the space. Featured pieces included Vincent van Gogh’s “Starry Night Over the Rhône,” along with selections from the Lee Kun-Hee Collection — donated to public institutions by the late Samsung chairman and available through Samsung Art Store — such as Jeong Seon’s “Clearing After Rain on Mount Inwang” and the Joseon Dynasty painting “Sun, Moon, and Five Peaks.”

Entertainment Companion Zone: Every Moment of Sight and Sound

The Entertainment Companion zone stood out as the exhibition’s largest area, featuring a variety of visual display and audio products. Excitement built as Samsung debuted the Micro RGB 130” TV, winner of the CES Innovation Awards 2026 Best of Innovation.

Centered on the Micro RGB TV, the Vision AI showcase highlighted hands-free interaction. Through voice commands, visitors could look up match predictions, search for recipes or play music — demonstrating how the TV functions as an Entertainment Companion.

Beyond innovation, this year’s lineup emphasized a refined design philosophy balancing simplicity and elegance. Highlights included the Music Studio 5 and Music Studio 7, Wi-Fi speakers developed in collaboration with French designer Erwan Bouroullec; the AI Beauty Mirror for personalized beauty care; the Sound Tower with lighting optimized for sports viewing; and the Transparent Micro LED, reimagining the nostalgic charm of vinyl records as a floating visual audio device.

The zone concluded with Spatial Signage — an interactive display that animates visitors in real time — combining the clarity of 2D imagery with the depth of 3D expression.

Home Companion Zone: Less Housework, More Everyday Freedom

The Home Companion zone presented the evolution of Samsung’s home appliances — moving beyond reducing household chores toward eliminating them and pointing to a future with less housework.

At the entrance, three flagship Samsung AI home appliances — the Bespoke AI Refrigerator Family Hub 32”, Bespoke AI Laundry Combo washer-dryer and Bespoke AI Jet Bot Combo robot vacuum — demonstrated how cameras, screens and voice interaction work together to support daily life as an integrated Home Companion.

The home appliances highlighted smarter food management through AI Vision and hands-free control through voice recognition, offering greater freedom in the kitchen.

A North America kitchen package, unveiled publicly for the first time at the exhibition, also drew attention from visitors.

The exhibition showed that a zero-housework home is within reach, highlighting stronger connectivity among washing machines, dryers and garment care systems, alongside advances in the AI capabilities of robot vacuums.

Care Companion Zone: A Safer, Healthier Everyday Life

In the Care Companion zone, visitors saw how the latest Galaxy form factors — including the new Galaxy Z TriFold — connect mobile and wearable devices with home appliances to serve as a central hub for AI-powered living.

The area demonstrated how Samsung Health is continuing to improve sleep environments by controlling air conditioners, air purifiers, lighting and sensors. A brain health training program for users concerned with cognitive health was also showcased. Other features of the health platform include analyzing health metrics through connected devices to help identify potential signs of chronic conditions, as well as exercise and sleep coaching and recipe recommendations based on ingredients in connected refrigerators.

Samsung further highlighted its Care Companion approach through a Pet Care system that helps identify potential health issues in companion animals and Home Care services, such as SmartThings Safe, that can request emergency assistance in critical situations.

“What impressed me was how everything is connected,” said Maxence Fleury, a digital content creator from Los Angeles. “The exhibition clearly showed how the ecosystem is expanding and the impact it is having.”

“Once again, Samsung didn’t disappoint,” said Lucy Hedges, host of The Travel Show on the BBC. “What I especially liked was how AI blends naturally into everyday life. These connected products ultimately make users’ lives easier and more comfortable.”

As a standalone exhibition, The First Look 2026 presented a more expansive and advanced range of AI products and experiences than ever before. Samsung’s vision of AI — as a trusted companion in everyday life — offers much to look forward to in the years ahead.

Samsung Electronics announced Smart Home Savings, a new service developed with Hartford Steam Boiler (HSB), Munich Re’s powerhouse for technology-driven risk management services and a leading provider of equipment and appliance insurance. The service can help U.S. consumers lower home insurance premiums by recognizing the protective capabilities of existing Samsung home appliances connected to the SmartThings¹ platform.

By opting into Smart Home Savings through the SmartThings app, customers let participating insurance carriers know about the protective features of their connected appliances. Homes with appliances that can detect early risk indicators like small water leaks may be recognized as having a stronger safety profile. With the information about which connected appliances consumers have on SmartThings, insurers are aware that a household is equipped with smart appliances capable of identifying issues and notifying its users, and they can apply premium reducing policy credits resulting in lower premiums. This approach not only reduces costs for families, but also demonstrates how technology has the potential to reshape home insurance.

Proven Success With Plans for Expansion

In 2025, Samsung and HSB partnered with major U.S. home-insurance carriers to pilot Smart Home Savings in Florida. While savings will ultimately vary by home, state and insurance company, early results reveal meaningful premium reductions for many. Based on this success, Samsung and HSB are expanding the program to more U.S. states and will extend availability to Europe and other global regions throughout this year. The program is now publicly available for U.S. insurance companies to join.

Aligned with the Home Connectivity Alliance (HCA) Insurance Interface Specification, Smart Home Savings is designed as a scalable open, pro-competitive model, allowing multiple insurers and a growing ecosystem of smart-home brands to participate. This fosters innovation, expands consumer choice and promotes healthier competition across both the insurance and smart-home markets.

Drawing from twenty years of leading the TV industry, Samsung has built a full AI TV lineup that provides an entirely new way for users to interact with their TV.

The center of the display lineup is the 130-inch Micro RGB, which represents a monumental leap in scale and picture quality. The 130-inch Micro RGB marks a new era of color, featuring the widest and most detailed spectrum ever seen in Samsung TVs while its Timeless Frame design minimizes distractions and allows the picture to take center stage with understated elegance. A micro-sized RGB light source drives the unprecedented picture quality, with each microscopic red, green and blue diode shining independently to produce color in its purest, most natural form. Micro RGB AI Engine Pro enables precise control of RGB colors and creates overwhelmingly vivid picture quality in every scene.

Elevating this next-level viewing experience, Vision AI Companion (VAC)¹ uses AI technology to work alongside users as a full entertainment companion to enhance viewing, dining and mood, anywhere in the home. Samsung has led the global soundbar market for 11 consecutive years. This year, it is introducing two new WiFi speakers, the Music Studio 5 and 7, to further expand its integrated ecosystem. Samsung also unveiled its most advanced Odyssey gaming monitor lineup yet, introducing five new models that push the boundaries of resolution, refresh rate and immersive visual performance. Home Companion: Connected Smart Appliances That Guide You Through Your Day

Cheolgi Kim, Executive Vice President and Head of Digital Appliances (DA) Division at Samsung Electronics, and Elizabeth Anderson, Head of Integrated Marketing, DA at Samsung Electronics America (SEA) outlined Samsung’s vision to evolve from providing home appliances to true home companions that work to eliminate the stress of daily chores. Cheolgi Kim also announced that as of December 2025, SmartThings now serves more than 430 million users, empowering Samsung with a significant scale and depth of insight that sets it apart from other brands.

This insight comes to life with the Family Hub. The AI-enabled refrigerator is the centerpiece of the home and now, with an upgrade to AI Vision built with Google Gemini,³ it redefines living for an AI future. With this update, AI Vision unlocks existing limitations in recognizing food items, seamlessly tracking what is placed into and taken out of the refrigerator, making meal planning and food management simpler than ever.⁴ The Family Hub has won 10 CES Innovation Awards so far, and Samsung’s AI-enabled fridges have received the award for the past three years.

Through a gamified feature called “What’s for Today?”,⁵ select refrigerators provide recipe recommendations based on what is in the refrigerator or also random recommendations, reducing the stress caused by choosing what to cook. When selected, recipes show up through SmartThings Food, where users receive a step-by-step guide to help them get started instantly. The selected recipe can also be sent to connected cooking appliances to begin the process seamlessly. Video to Recipe⁶ adds even more simplicity, providing users with recommended cooking videos and converting those videos into easy-to-follow steps, allowing users to follow along while they cook without pausing the video or backtracking.

Samsung also unveiled FoodNote,⁷ a new, weekly report that recaps users’ food intake patterns, from most-used ingredients and recipe recommendations, and which items it’s time to restock. Additionally, Now Brief⁸ includes more widgets on the Family Hub screen and with Voice ID,⁹ can distinguish between family members and display content relevant to each individual. Ultimately, these features come together to provide various helpful insights and information throughout the week.

In the laundry room, the Bespoke AI Laundry Combo removes the need to transfer loads of laundry, solving a major pain point for households. This year’s model comes with enhanced features, like a faster super speed cycle and enhanced drying performance. Moreover, Samsung’s new Bespoke AI AirDresser is here to solve another common problem with your clothes. It features Auto Wrinkle Care, which blasts strong air and steam jets to smooth out shirts. All users have to do is hang their shirt and wait, reducing the burden in busy mornings.

Around the house, the Bespoke AI Jet Bot Steam Ultra, powered by a Qualcomm Dragonwing processor, features an Active Stereo 3D Sensor to recognize liquids¹⁰ like coffee, juice, or even transparent liquids like water. While its camera helps with navigation, it also allows the robot vacuum to serve as a monitoring device for when users are away from home, notifying them about their pets and whether there is any suspicious activity.¹¹ Plus, with a smarter Bixby,¹² users can speak conversationally to their robot vacuum to carry out tasks with ease. For the deep level of connectivity and integration that forms the backbone of a holistic, AI-powered experience, Samsung’s Bespoke AI appliances have received a CES Innovation Award.

Additional benefits include a first-of-its-kind partnership with Hartford Steam Boiler (HSB) to help unlock real, meaningful savings to the smart home experience. HSB President and CEO Greg M. Barats joined the presentation to discuss the partnership, explaining the potential benefits of having smart appliances connected to SmartThings to reduce insurance premiums. This is the best of the AI era — increased protections and reduced costs for users. After a successful pilot run in the U.S. in 2025, the collaboration is expanding to more states across the U.S., as well as to leading home insurance carriers in other global regions.

Care Companion: Shifting From Reactive to Proactive Care

Finally, Praveen Raja, Vice President and Head of Digital Health at Samsung Research America (SRA), introduced Samsung’s long-term vision for intelligent care enabled by Samsung’s integrated device ecosystem, redefining care from a reactive need to a proactive opportunity. With AI, phones, appliances, wearables and other connected devices will help users prevent potential health concerns before they occur.

For example, Samsung aims to provide personalized health coaching, offering effective exercise and sleep coaching to help decrease risk for major chronic diseases and also suggesting appropriate recipes based on ingredients available in connected refrigerators. Additionally, if any abnormal signs or patterns are detected, it will alert users while allowing their health metrics to be shared with providers via the Xealth platform and facilitating virtual professional consultations.

Recognizing the importance of preventative health, Samsung is also expanding its capabilities in dementia detection through research partnerships, with wearable devices registering subtle changes to mobility, speech and engagement that can be indicative of long-term cognitive changes.

Samsung Knox and Knox Matrix serve as the foundation of this hyper-personalized ecosystem, safeguarding user data at every turn. As AI is constantly evolving, so are Knox and Knox Matrix. To maintain security despite constant changes, Samsung’s security systems are consistently identifying AI risks by advancing to protect data in AI training processes and approving models through red team analysis.

With the acquisition completed in November last year, FläktGroup’s new CEO David Dorney is set to guide the company through an exciting chapter. A seasoned industry executive, Dorney brings more than 20 years of global HVAC leadership experience with a focus on driving growth across key industrial sectors.

Samsung Newsroom sat down with Dorney to hear more about his vision for the future, the opportunities ahead and what the acquisition means for FläktGroup.

Q. Tell us about FläktGroup and its biggest strengths.

FläktGroup has deep roots with a story that goes back to 1909. We’ve pioneered ventilation systems for commercial and industrial buildings, clean rooms, marine applications and fire safety.

We are proud of our teams, their expertise in their chosen fields and the immense effort they put into their work every day. We want our FläktGroup employees to grow in the best way possible. We aim to ensure this happens by continually investing in training and developing our people. This will be coupled with the delivery of top-quality solutions from each of our 14 global manufacturing facilities, backed by our field-trained after-sales service engineers, so that our many loyal customers can enjoy continued satisfaction and peace of mind.

One area of deep expertise is in data center cooling — since introducing our first computer room air conditioning (CRAC) unit in 1964, we’ve been delivering solutions for more than 60 years. That experience means we understand every detail, from precision cooling to energy efficiency.

Q. How do you see the HVAC market today and in the future?

The HVAC market is strong and growing, driven by energy efficiency mandates, rising urbanization, adoption of smart technologies such as IoT and AI and increased focus on indoor air quality (IAQ), with projections showing significant expansion through 2030-2035. Key trends include demand for heat pumps, low-GWP refrigerants and smart connected systems.

Obviously, we are seeing rapid innovation in liquid cooling technologies, and globally, demand for energy-efficient HVAC systems is rising in regions like North America, Europe and Asia-Pacific. The outlook for our industry is positive and we’re ready to adapt and lead.

Q. What are some of FläktGroup’s recent successful projects?

Our recent important projects span both new-build and turnkey retrofit solutions across a range of essential industries. For instance, we’ve onboarded a number of new data center customers and have provided on-site support for AI and cloud services globally. We have also delivered a turnkey solution in Sweden for a customer building a CO2-free steel production plant, and we completed several defence projects within our marine business, for various countries including India and the US.

This year, we achieved our first cross-selling success in the US, where we delivered FläktGroup Air solutions together with Samsung modular chillers¹ for controlling the environmental conditions in an aerospace application.

Q. Where do you see synergies between Samsung and FläktGroup?

We are looking at cross-selling opportunities, supply chain integration and joining forces when it comes to R&D, to accelerate the time to market with our key new product introduction (NPI) roadmap.

By combining FläktGroup’s HVAC expertise with Samsung’s technology leadership, we can create smarter, more connected solutions. For example, integrating our HVAC systems with Samsung’s SmartThings Pro and b.IoT platforms will open doors to advanced energy management and smart building solutions. Samsung also brings strong AI capabilities, which we can use to optimize performance and efficiency.

Q. Which regions or industries will you focus on next?

Our priority is to build on our new partnership with Samsung and continue the collaboration between our teams that started in 2025. We’re focusing on coolant distribution unit (CDU) technology and expanding our FläktEdge smart control systems, while investing in R&D to speed up delivery and support partner projects.

The planned plant in Korea will be a template for all future FläktGroup factories, and it is essential to the expansion of our presence in the wider region. We’re also investing in new production facilities and field services in India and the US, where we see significant growth opportunities in data centers and indoor climate solutions.

Q. What is your vision as CEO, and what are your key goals?

Our vision is clear: we want to move forward with Samsung in 2026 and beyond, becoming a global leader in HVAC. That means working closely with our customers and partners alike, addressing their key challenges such as reducing their carbon footprint. It’s a big mission, especially with climate change and its impact on wellbeing.

Our goals focus on innovation, quality and sustainability. We’ll keep developing energy-efficient solutions and smart technologies that make buildings healthier and safer. FläktGroup has already been doing this for more than 100 years, leveraging our broad product portfolio and also investing in new solutions, and now we are taking it to the next level.

Q. Looking ten years ahead, where do you see FläktGroup?

I see FläktGroup, together with Samsung, as a global leader in HVAC and a trusted name everywhere. We’ll be known for sustainability, smart technology and energy efficiency.

Some examples of our current focus areas are expanding environmental product declaration (EPD)² coverage to 95% of products by 2026, launching FläktEdge specifically for key mission-critical vertical markets and embedding circular economy principles into design and packaging.

Through these efforts, we hope that FläktGroup will establish itself as a company that contributes to creating a more sustainable global society.

Samsung Electronics today announced that it will boldly break away from the conventional exhibition framework and present a new exhibition paradigm with The First Look at CES 2026, the world’s largest consumer electronics show, to be held in Las Vegas, Nevada on Jan. 6–9.

For The First Look, the company is shifting from operating a public booth within the Las Vegas Convention Center (LVCC) to establishing a standalone exhibition hall at the Wynn Las Vegas. There, Samsung will curate an experience that adopts techniques used in art galleries and museums to unveil its new products and technologies.

To this end, the company has built its exhibition space, the Samsung Exhibition Zone, on an industry-leading scale, enabling all activities — product exhibitions, presentations, events, technology forums and consultations with key clients and partners — to be conducted organically in a single integrated location. In the U.K., independent review outlet ‘Trusted Reviews’ selected the Samsung Series 9 Bespoke AI Washing Machine¹ as its “Best Washing Machine” at the Trusted Reviews Awards 2025, highlighting its cleaning performance and smart features. The publication has also reviewed Bespoke AI Jet Ultra, noting its impressive boost in suction power and excellent battery life.

In the third edition of the global “Why Samsung” campaign, Samsung Newsroom spoke with Miyoung Yoo, Executive Vice President and Head of the Global CS Team, DA Business at Samsung Electronics, about how the company is advancing quality, innovation and the reliability benefits customers experience — and where Samsung is headed next.

Bringing SW Seven-Year Upgrade and Strengthening the Durability of Core Components

Q1. What efforts is Samsung making to strengthen user trust in its home appliances?

Home appliances are used over long periods of time, making it crucial that they remain safe and reliable after purchase. This means product design must account not only for how appliances are used today, but also for how users’ lifestyles may evolve in the future.

Samsung is working to enhance the quality and reliability of its AI appliances by leveraging software, hardware and advanced AI technologies. First, Samsung provides software upgrades for smart home appliances, enabling them to continue evolving over time.² We are also helping customers use their appliances more reliably and for longer through our Home Appliance Remote Management (HRM)³ service.

On the hardware side, we use our manufacturing know-how that we’ve built up over half a century and a vigorous verification system to continuously enhance the durability and competitiveness of our compressors and motors — which are “the heart of home appliances.” We also conduct long-term, high-intensity reliability testing to ensure stable performance, even in extreme environments around the globe.

Most recently, Samsung has further enhanced product quality and reliability by incorporating AI capabilities. For example, we use AI in our digital inverter compressor to help save energy while creating optimal cooling. We further apply AI to our HRM service to detect early signs of abnormal operation and proactively notify users.

Upgrading Both Appliance Performance and Security Through AI and Software

Q2. What is Samsung’s software update policy for its home appliances to improve reliability?

Samsung AI appliances are evolving into advanced devices capable of receiving real-time feature upgrades and, through software innovation, resolving certain issues remotely.

Samsung supports software upgrades for up to seven years for its smart home appliances released since 2024. This enables the addition of new convenience features and the latest security technologies to appliances users already own, allowing products to continue evolving over time.

For example, the AI Vision Inside feature on the Family Hub refrigerator has been upgraded this year. AI Vision Inside recognizes food items being put in or taken out of the refrigerator using a camera and creates a food list on the product’s screen, enhancing the convenience of food management. The number of fresh foods recognized has increased to 37, and users can now additionally register and manage up to 50 types of processed and packaged foods.⁴

Q3. Besides the SW updates, are there ways to improve reliability through SW?

Samsung is continuously improving product durability and reliability by providing its HRM service.

Samsung’s HRM is a system that collects and analyzes data from SmartThings-connected appliances in real time. Based on the analysis results, advisors can assess the product’s status and guide customers on the most appropriate actions — or resolve issues by remotely adjusting settings. This allows users to receive professional care without having to describe issues in detail and in some cases, resolve them quickly without the need for a service engineer visit — saving both time and repair costs.⁵

For instance, if a washing machine is not dispensing fabric softener, a consultant can remotely adjust the detergent box mode. If a refrigerator does not feel cool enough due to overstocking, a consultant can remotely set the temperature lower than the minimum available to the users.

Samsung has continued to advance its HRM service by incorporating AI technologies that proactively detect early signs of potential issues and notify users in advance. For example, by analyzing factors such as laundry room and outdoor temperatures, the system can predict frost risks in washing machines and dryers and notify users in advance via smartphone alerts. It can also detect low refrigerant levels in air conditioners and refrigerators early on, helping prevent issues from escalating into major failures.⁶

Meanwhile, Samsung Electronics Canada received an award for excellence at the 2025 CIO Awards Canada, presented by IDC in November, recognized for its HRM project, providing reliable services to customers and setting new industry standards. The CIO Awards specifically honor organizations that demonstrate exceptional innovation and business value through IT solutions.

This year, we plan to significantly expand this service by supporting 17 languages in around 120 countries.

The Heart of AI Appliances: Innovating Core Components With AI

Q4. From a hardware perspective, what sets Samsung’s appliance quality apart?

Building on its capabilities in AI appliances, Samsung is now dedicated to solidifying its competitive edge in core components by pushing the boundaries of hardware reliability.

Compressors and motors are often called “the heart of home appliances” because they are directly linked to product performance and durability. Since 1976, Samsung has been manufacturing compressors for nearly 50 years, continuously advancing both technology and durability. Today, its eighth-generation compressor incorporates innovations that directly enhance energy efficiency and reliability, including ultra-precision machining to a tolerance of one-tenth the thickness of a human hair (5 μm=0.005 mm), friction-reduction technology and high-rigidity coatings. For washing machine⁷ motors, Samsung applies 3D high-speed balancing technology to ensure stable operation even during spin cycles reaching 270 rotations per second. This significantly reduces vibration and noise.

To ensure seamless performance across diverse environments — from the heat and humidity of Southeast Asia and the Middle East to the extreme cold and heavy snowfall of polar regions — the company conducts rigorous stress testing on core components. Refrigerator compressors undergo extensive testing in a dedicated testing space, including continuous operation for 1,500 hours at 85°C and 500 hours at 100°C, to ensure core component reliability.

In addition, AI is being applied to further strengthen the performance and reliability of these core components. Samsung compressors have evolved from digital inverters to AI digital inverter compressors, which use AI to adjust the operation of the compressor’s internal motor to help save energy and improve durability.

Q5. Going forward, how will Samsung further strengthen the reliability of its home appliances?

We plan to continue enhancing the reliability of our home appliances by strengthening the three pillars of software, hardware and AI. Our ultimate goal is to deliver an excellent user experience throughout the entire product lifecycle, from purchase to long-term use, while continuing to innovate more trustworthy appliances.

On the software side, we are improving the convenience and accuracy of features by combining them with AI. For example, the HRM service is evolving its functions to enable more precise product diagnosis and user support by analyzing product status and error history with AI. Ultimately, with AI, we aim to transform the appliance use and care paradigm from repair to prevention, thereby strengthening reliability.

On the hardware side, we are accelerating innovation focused on core components. We have rapidly transitioned our compressors from fixed-speed designs — where operating speed remains constant — to digital inverter technology, significantly improving energy efficiency and stability. Samsung has driven further transformation with AI Hybrid Cooling, which uses an AI digital inverter compressor in normal situations and gets a Peltier cooling unit to work additionally when intensive cooling is required.

By continuously advancing AI-driven core component technologies and delivering ongoing software upgrades, Samsung plans to continue its efforts to deliver “appliances that remain reliable over time.”

Samsung Electronics today announced that it will unveil its latest kitchen appliances lineup at CES 2026, including the latest iterations of its Bespoke AI refrigerator, over-the-range (OTR) microwave and slide-in range¹ at CES 2026. Alongside refreshed designs across the lineup, the company will highlight meaningful improvements to vision-based AI functionality enhanced with Google Gemini and Google Cloud, showing how these innovations simplify everyday tasks and elevate the overall kitchen experience.

“In pioneering the application of vision-based AI technology, Samsung has led innovation in the kitchen appliance market,” said Jeong Seung Moon, Executive Vice President and Head of R&D Team for Digital Appliances (DA) Business at Samsung Electronics. “Samsung will reach a new level of innovation through this collaboration with Google Cloud and will utilize these ongoing initiatives to continue to deliver better consumer experiences in the upcoming year.”

Introducing Samsung’s Latest AI Vision-Equipped Refrigerator

At CES, Samsung will present a new Bespoke AI Refrigerator Family Hub, equipped with the upgraded AI Vision. The feature’s key upgrade is its functions built with Google Gemini, which marks the first time that it is being integrated into a refrigerator.

Previously, it could recognize up to 37 types of fresh food and 50 types of pre-registered processed food on-device.² The latest version ready to be unveiled at CES is built to unlock its existing limitations to recognize more food items, offering a comprehensive and flexible experience.

It is planned to even recognize processed foods without separate registration, automatically registering their names to increase convenience. Additionally, Samsung aims to make it detect user-labeled items, foods stored in personal containers can be added to the food list.

With ingredients being identified more accurately, managing the food list becomes clearer and easier than before, broadening people’s food-related experiences. At CES, Samsung plans to showcase the enhanced capabilities and new use cases of AI Vision, demonstrating the future of a truly personalized AI kitchen.

Enhanced Wine Management With the New Samsung Bespoke AI Wine Cellar

Samsung will exhibit the new Bespoke AI Wine Cellar, designed to incorporate an AI Vision built with Google Gemini similar to that of the Bespoke AI Refrigerator.³

When users store or remove wine bottles from the wine cellar, a camera positioned at the top of the unit will recognize the labels and tracks bottles, updating the SmartThings AI Wine Manager⁴ accordingly. The system will also be able to distinguish the specific shelf and compartment where each bottle is placed, allowing users to easily check locations without searching manually. Through the AI Wine Manager, users will be able to look up wine information more conveniently and receive suggestions on pairings based on the type of wine in their inventory, making wine curation more intuitive and personalized.

Unified Kitchen Aesthetic With an Upgraded Stainless Look 

Samsung is also introducing a lineup of French Door refrigerators, slide-in ranges and new OTR microwave models, offering consumers an updated aesthetic and a cohesive stainless-look option for creating a unified kitchen design.

The new Bespoke AI 3-Door French Door refrigerator features a zero clearance fit, which can be installed with side gaps of approximately 4mm.⁵ Additionally, its door depth has been reduced by 50mm compared to the conventional 3-Door model,⁶ enabling full access to drawers and food items with the doors wide open.⁷ The AutoView — a transparent door — allows users to easily check items stored in the fridge.

The upgraded slide-in range features a completely refreshed design with a stainless-look finish across the control panel, knobs and door. It adopts a new bar handle style, along with a Precision Knob that provides enhanced safety.

Samsung will unveil two different types of OTR microwaves: the Air-Fry OTR and the DualVent OTR. The most significant change comes from the revised hood structure of the DualVent model. Typically, the depth of a cooktop on the range extends farther than that of an OTR, making it difficult for the hood to capture smoke from the front burners. Samsung’s new dual vent system addresses this by adding a front ventilation wing in addition to the bottom ventilation, significantly improving the capture rate compared to the previous model.

Samsung Electronics today announced its upcoming showcase at CES 2026, which will be held Jan. 6-9 in Las Vegas, Nevada. At CES, the company will highlight a series of improvements in home living that merge AI-powered customized care and powerful hardware-supported performance. This year, the company is enhancing its Bespoke AI living appliance lineup with smarter fabric care, intuitive temperature control and more convenient cleaning experiences — all designed to adapt to users’ lifestyles through seamless synergy between its devices. Featured innovations include the upgraded Bespoke AI AirDresser, Bespoke AI Laundry Combo, Bespoke AI WindFree Pro Air Conditioner and the flagship Bespoke AI Jet Bot Steam Ultra robot vacuum.

Faster Full Cycles, Enhanced Drying and Smarter Care With the Bespoke AI Laundry Combo

Following its 2024 debut, the 2026 Bespoke AI Laundry Combo is launching with upgrades that shorten wash-to-dry cycles and enhance drying performance. The Super Speed cycle leverages a high-pressure Speed Spray that improves detergent penetration and rinsing to enable fast and efficient washing, while the newly incorporated Booster Heat Exchanger delivers improved drying performance. The upgraded combo also features Auto Open Door+, which not only automatically opens the door, but also activates internal air circulation after wash-only cycles to keep remaining laundry from developing a musty odor.

Additionally, the upgraded AI Wash & Dry+¹ uses multiple sensors to optimize performance for each load. It detects the weight to determine the right amount of water and detergent, identifies five fabric² types — including Outdoor and Denim — and monitors soil levels in real time. The newly applied Wide Lint Filter features a one-touch design for easier cleaning and a dual-layer design and large capture area to provide thorough collection of lint and particles. This year, in addition to the original 7” LCD screen model, a more affordable variant with a 2.8” LCD screen and jog dial is also being introduced to cater to diverse customer needs.

Bespoke AI AirDresser Now Offers Stronger Wrinkle Care and Smarter Drying

Three years after its predecessor, Samsung’s upgraded Bespoke AI AirDresser is returning with enhanced performance and greater convenience. It features the new Auto Wrinkle Care function, which leverages an enhanced Dual AirWash and Dual JetSteam system to help smooth out wrinkles quickly and effortlessly in busy mornings. The Dual JetSteam also effectively maintains the freshness of clothing by infusing high temperature heat deep into the fabric — reducing 99.9% of certain viruses³ and bacteria⁴ and 99% of unpleasant odors.⁵ Furthermore, the model features an intelligent drying course that adjusts drying time to suit small, medium, or large loads. This ensures optimal drying, preventing over or under-drying and protects fabric quality.

A standout feature is its synergy with the Bespoke AI Laundry Combo. The Auto Cycle Link⁶ recommends an appropriate drying course on the Air Dresser once a wash cycle ends. When certain cycles designed for special care — such as the Blouse Cycle — are selected on the Combo, the same option is automatically queued on the AirDresser, creating a continuous garment care flow. The refreshed design also includes a sleek One Body Door and 2.8″ LCD screen for improved usability.

Bespoke AI WindFree Pro Air Conditioner Delivers Various Tailored Wind Modes With Multi Blades

This year’s new WindFree Air Conditioner incorporates AI technology⁷ and Motion Wind to address the key attribute that influences customer purchasing decisions, which are wind modes.⁸ The number of blades has increased from one to three, enabling airflow to be directed in multiple directions according to user preferences. The Triple Motion Wings create seven tailored wind modes — including Max Wind, which delivers instant cooling 15% faster;⁹ Surround Wind, which spreads airflow evenly; Long Reach Wind, which sends cool air twice as far;¹⁰ and Down Wind, which quickly drives warm air downward for faster delivery of cool air. With radar-based AI Direct and Indirect Wind modes, the system senses user presence and automatically directs or diverts airflow to enhance comfort.

The model also includes AI Fast & Comfort Cooling, which analyzes temperature, humidity and room size to automatically activate optimized cooling. Based on usage patterns,¹¹ it offers Fast Cooling, WindFree comfort and cold-free Dry Comfort. In addition, AI Energy Mode monitors both usage behavior and external conditions to minimize compressor fluctuations, helping reduce energy consumption by up to 30%.¹²

Bespoke AI Jet Bot Steam Ultra Brings Object and Liquid Recognition for Smarter Navigation

The newly launching Bespoke AI Jet Bot Steam Ultra comes with advanced recognition technologies designed to reduce human intervention and simplify cleaning like never before. Powered by a Qualcomm Dragonwing processor, it offers deep learning-based AI Object Recognition¹³ to better detect humans,¹⁴ cats and dogs,¹⁵ as well as hard-to-see obstacles like cables or rugs. This model also supports AI Liquid Recognition, allowing it to detect liquid spills¹⁶ and determine whether to clean or avoid them based on the user’s set preference. Additionally, upgraded Easy Pass Wheel technology raises the body and lowers the wheels to climb thresholds of up to 2.4 inches.¹⁷

Featuring the voices of the planners and developers behind the products, the videos offer insight into the intent and development work driving the core AI functions of Bespoke AI refrigerators and washing machines. Starting December 16, the videos will be available sequentially on YouTube and social media channels in over 50 countries.

The first video explores the planning and development of the Bespoke AI refrigerator, now a data-driven food management system.

The segment demonstrates how AI Vision Inside recognizes food items, tracks their expiration dates and recommends recipes accordingly. When users have their hands full while cooking, Bixby lets them open the refrigerator door with voice commands.

The clip also highlights features such as AI Hybrid Cooling — which pairs an AI digital inverter compressor with a Peltier cooling unit — reflecting the developers’ intent to embed AI into everyday life.

The second video showcases the Bespoke AI Laundry Combo, an all-in-one solution that connects washing and drying into a single seamless process.

The film introduces AI Wash & Dry and the Flex Auto Dispense System — features that analyze fabric type, weight and soil level to set wash cycles and detergent amounts. Bixby lets users schedule wash cycles with simple voice commands, and AI Vibration Reduction Technology Plus (AI VRT+) minimizes vibration based on the installation environment — demonstrating how AI reduces user effort and inconvenience.

Samsung Electronics today announced that it has had the carbon reduction impact of AI Energy Mode¹ in its select washing machines verified by the Carbon Trust Assurance, based on the Decarbonizing the Use-Phase of Connected Devices (DUCD) specification. This marks the first time that a product or feature has been validated using the DUCD specification. It is especially significant as it demonstrates the greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction effect achieved through the AI Energy Mode during the use phase, verified by a third party.

“At Samsung, we continue to design our products and services with environmental factors in mind,” said Jeong Seung Moon, Executive Vice President and Head of the R&D Team for Digital Appliances (DA) Business at Samsung Electronics. “AI Energy Mode is a key example of such efforts, and with this verification recognizing its effectiveness, we will strive to further improve our products, features and services during their actual use.”

Samsung’s Longstanding Efforts

Samsung has long worked to establish objective and systematic indicators to assess and manage carbon emissions generated from home appliances. As part of these efforts, the company joined the DUCD initiative as a Secretariat member in September 2022.

The DUCD initiative is led by the Carbon Trust, a global climate consultancy, which partners with businesses, governments and financial institutions to drive positive climate action. Through collaboration with other industry leaders, it aims to standardize how energy use and savings from connected devices are measured and contribute to building global methodologies for calculating the carbon savings of Wi-Fi–connected devices.

In November 2024, the initiative published a global specification establishing unified measurement criteria and reduction methodologies for connected devices. This approach measures the reduction in carbon emissions that occur during the consumer’s actual usage phase, distinguishing it from the measurement or reduction of carbon emissions during the production process conventionally used.

Verified Carbon Reduction With AI Energy Mode

Using this guidance, the Carbon Trust’s independent assurance arm, the Carbon Trust Assurance Ltd, tested a pilot assessment on Samsung’s global washing machine lineup.² It verified the reduction effect of AI Energy Mode by comparing the amount of carbon emitted between July 2024 and June 2025 when using the AI Energy Mode with the amount emitted when not using this mode.

For Samsung’s select energy-efficient washing machines, the total energy consumption using the SmartThings Platform³ has been verified at 12.28 GWh during this time period,⁴ resulting in 5,266 tCO₂e, by Carbon Trust Assurance Ltd according to the DUCD Part 1: Specification and Guidance. The verified total energy savings of 5.02 GWh in energy consumption, and 2,084 tCO₂e in GHG emissions savings can be attributed to switched-on AI Energy Mode.⁵

This level of energy savings corresponds to the amount of electricity that approximately 169,000 households can use in a single day, given that an average U.S. residential electric-utility customer purchases about 29.54 kWh of energy daily.⁶

Meanwhile, the company will participate in the upcoming CES 2026, where it will showcase both its energy-saving solutions and innovative new products.

Less Chores, More Time

Q3. What are some benefits consumers can enjoy through Samsung’s connected platform and AI Home ecosystem?

When a washing cycle finishes while users are watching TV, a notification appears in the upper-right corner of the screen — letting them check laundry progress. While cooking in the kitchen, users can turn on the air conditioner in their child’s room directly from the SmartThings-connected refrigerator display. With 3D Map View, users can monitor and control all connected devices through a three-dimensional layout of their home. The Away Mode feature in SmartThings automatically turns off lights and the TV when users leave — and even starts the robot vacuum to clean on its own.

Quick Remote is another convenient feature that lets users control their appliances directly from their smartphones.⁵ When a SmartThings-connected appliance is nearby, a pop-up automatically appears on the smartphone — allowing users to operate the device instantly without searching for a remote.

SmartThings also helps users save energy effortlessly. When AI Energy Mode is activated, it analyzes usage patterns to reduce energy consumption by up to 10% for refrigerators,⁶ 70% for washing machines⁷ and 30% for air conditioners.⁸ Samsung is expanding this energy-efficient ecosystem globally through partnerships with companies like British Gas in the United Kingdom and CoolBlue in the Netherlands.

Q4. Beyond appliance control, how does SmartThings enhance family and pet care?

Housework is more than cleaning — it’s also about caring for one’s family and home. SmartThings-connected appliances now extend that care, helping users look after themselves, their families, their pets and their living spaces.

Family Care⁹ supports loved ones who live apart. If abnormal activity patterns are detected or a connected appliance has not been used for a certain period, SmartThings sends an alert prompting users to check in. Through the SmartThings app, users can also set medication schedules — sending smartphone reminders, dispensing the right amount and temperature of water from a connected purifier and even enabling home monitoring through a linked robot vacuum when no one is at home to check in.

Pet Care helps keep pets safe and comfortable while owners are away. On hot days, users can remotely turn on a SmartThings-connected air conditioner or check in on their pets through a home camera. If barking is detected, users can play soothing music through the robot vacuum or stream calming videos on the TV.

Connected through SmartThings, home appliances have redefined their role — evolving from simple household tools into intelligent companions that make daily life more convenient while caring for users and their families.

Q5. What direction is Samsung taking with SmartThings and AI Home?

At IFA 2025, Samsung introduced the Smart Modular Home — a solution that allows users to experience the benefits of an AI Home from the moment they move in, demonstrating that the AI Home is no longer a vision of the future but a reality.

Additionally, Samsung is advancing ambient intelligence technologies that intuitively understand user context without being intrusive. By learning from and analyzing data across connected devices, the company aims to create a fully automated AI Home that understands users’ behaviors, preferences and routines. The overarching goal of SmartThings and AI Home is to become a true companion in every home — automatically adapting to each person’s lifestyle, freeing them from household chores and providing peace of mind.

None of this is possible without robust security. In the part three of the “Why Samsung” interview series, Samsung Newsroom will explore the company’s strengths and future direction in security.

To explore the direction, goals and consumer benefits of Bespoke AI, Samsung Newsroom sat down with Jeong Seung Moon, Executive Vice President and Head of R&D Team at Digital Appliances (DA) Business, Samsung Electronics, for the first interview in a four-part series.

Reducing Chores With Bespoke AI, Powered by Screens, Bixby and Vision

Q1. What is the ultimate value that Bespoke AI aims to deliver?

Bespoke AI refers to AI appliances that deliver truly personalized appliance experiences, based on deep understanding of each user’s lifestyle and needs. It’s designed for users who seek more ease, comfort and convenience in their daily lives. Samsung’s product development is focused on advancing the connection between AI and devices so that appliances can understand users and act on their behalf — ultimately achieving zero housework.

Q2. What makes you believe that Bespoke AI can significantly reduce housework?

Bespoke AI is built on three foundational technologies: Screens, Bixby and Vision — and it’s this combination that enables entirely new experiences in the home.

• On products such as the Bespoke AI Family Hub, hybrid refrigerators, washers, dryers and cooking devices, screens allow users to intuitively check and control functions, enhancing both convenience and accessibility. They also serve as control hubs for the whole home through SmartThings connectivity.
• Bixby, Samsung’s voice assistant, is being applied across the entire Bespoke AI lineup. Its growing presence allows users to control appliances by voice alone, offering a hands-free experience that lowers barriers to use.
• Vision technology is built into products such as the Family Hub refrigerator, the 9-inch screen refrigerator, the Bespoke AI Steam robot vacuum and ovens. These appliances can recognize objects on their own to assist with household chores — representing a clear evolution toward reducing the burden of home management.

Samsung is also expanding Wi-Fi connectivity across its product lineup to enable more advanced, connected features. For example, 91% of Bespoke Four-Door Refrigerators (FDR) sold globally are now Wi-Fi enabled.² Samsung has already expanded its AI appliance lineup to more than three times the size of last year’s — and is expected to maintain strong growth into 2026.

AI That Handles Cooking and Laundry With Ease — Even Responding to Each Family Member’s Voice

Q3. What are the unique advantages of Bixby in Bespoke AI appliances compared to other products?

Bixby has been enhanced with a large language model (LLM) tailored for appliances, enabling users to interact naturally with their devices through conversation-like commands.

Voice ID, newly introduced this year, takes personalization a step further. In shared households, it recognizes who’s speaking and tailors responses accordingly.³ When a user asks, “What’s on my schedule?” Bixby will pull up their calendar, not someone else’s. It works just as naturally with photos, playlists and more.

Bixby is also tightly integrated with hardware features across Samsung’s appliance lineup, making control more seamless. With the industry-first innovation of wakeless voice control, users can operate appliances like refrigerators or washing machines without first saying “Hi Bixby” before giving a command.⁴ Paired with features like Auto Open Door, users can simply say, “Open the left (right) fridge door” for a truly seamless experience.

Q4. Can you explain more specifically what kind of benefits Bespoke AI brings to daily life?

Bespoke AI is designed to recognize and take care of everyday tasks that people often find tedious, difficult or time-consuming. With advanced AI capabilities, tasks that once required manual effort and user supervision can now be handled automatically, marking a major shift in how chores are managed.

For instance, the Bespoke AI Family Hub refrigerator is equipped with AI Vision Inside, which identifies ingredients as they are placed inside. It helps manage food inventory and even recommends recipes based on available items. While cooking, it can also send optimal settings to connected kitchen appliances — minimizing inconvenience and enhancing meal preparation. The system is evolving to incorporate wellness insights as well, helping users make healthier lifestyle choices through connected cooking experiences.

The Bespoke AI Laundry Combo, an all-in-one washer and dryer, uses features like AI Opti Wash & Dry to detect the fabric type, soil level and weight after clothes are loaded.⁵ It then automatically dispenses the right amount of detergent and selects the most suitable wash and dry cycles, handling everything from start to finish.

Even noise and vibration are automatically controlled through AI Vibration Reduction Technology,⁶ for a quieter laundry experience. These are the kind of tasks that, before Bespoke AI appliances, required constant attention and manual effort.

Smarter AI Appliances That Think Ahead and Act on Their Own

Q5. What is the future direction for Samsung’s AI appliances?

Samsung is evolving the Bespoke AI experience so that appliances not only understand users and their home environments, but also take action autonomously based on each situation. The goal is to allow individuals and families to spend more time on what truly matters by reducing the time and energy spent on household chores.

Looking ahead, Samsung plans to expand the Bespoke AI experience beyond the home to other areas, such as buildings, vehicles and even ships — creating more intelligent, interconnected environments across industries. To bring this vision to life, Samsung is working closely with domestic and global partners across hardware, software and services.

Following the acquisition, Samsung plans to leverage FläktGroup’s production and sales units to expand R&D and strengthen the supply chain, progressively integrating products and services to maximize synergies. FläktGroup’s subsidiaries will also be a part of Samsung Electronics, including Woods Air Movement, which provides ventilation and fire safety systems, SEMCO, which specializes in air handling and flow solutions, and SE-Elektronic which delivers tailored advanced automation systems. Meanwhile, FläktGroup’s name, existing management, personnel and facilities will be maintained, operating it as an independent subsidiary to preserve its technological expertise and brand identity.

“This marks a strategic move for Samsung, aimed at leading the global HVAC and data center markets,” said TM Roh, President and Acting Head of the Device eXperience (DX) Division at Samsung Electronics. “By merging FläktGroup’s technological expertise with Samsung’s AI platforms, we aim to set a new benchmark in the industry, delivering innovative solutions to customers.”

Through this acquisition, Samsung will strategically nurture the HVAC business as a new growth engine within its DX Division. The company plans to continuously invest in commercial HVAC solutions and expand into high-growth sectors such as AI data centers.

As demand for large-scale air conditioning systems grows in Korea, North America, and Europe — including large factories, commercial complexes, marine, hospitals, and biopharmaceutical facilities — the company aims to establish a robust supply chain in each region and enhance its service capabilities. Moreover, Samsung formed a joint venture with Lennox last year to further secure its presence in the North American market, and expects that the acquisition of FläktGroup will strengthen the company’s position with expanded expertise to HVAC solutions.

Additionally, by integrating FläktGroup’s advanced HVAC control systems with Samsung’s building management platforms such as SmartThings Pro and b.IoT, Samsung will explore new opportunities in smart building solutions and energy efficiency.

“Joining Samsung will accelerate FläktGroup’s global market expansion and drive technological innovation,” commented Trevor Young, CEO of FläktGroup. “The synergy between our companies will be a major turning point in developing future-oriented HVAC solutions.”

With over a century of history and technical expertise, FläktGroup supplies central air conditioning and precision cooling solutions for several industries across global markets. The company operates more than 10 production bases for central HVAC products and has built an extensive sales and service network across Europe, the Americas, the Middle East and Asia.

Based on these capabilities, the company has participated in the Stargate Project and partnered with other major hyperscale customers. It has also developed and supplied custom solutions which are aimed specifically at the data center sector and the fast-growing AI industry demands. Additionally, it has established a dedicated North America data center team to swiftly respond to growing demand in the U.S., and it has further invested in a global account team headquartered in Singapore to support key customers, ensuring proximity and ease of doing business.

The campaign aims to deliver these core values and the messages behind them to consumers in over 50 countries through various digital platforms, including Samsung.com, YouTube and social media channels, beginning October 20.

To kick off the campaign, Samsung released a video that highlights the innovative AI technologies behind Bespoke AI. Samsung’s refrigerators, ovens and other home appliances work together to create an intelligent AI kitchen. Products like the all-in-one washer-dryer deliver optimized performance for every cycle, while the robot vacuum cleaner provides personalized experiences tailored to users’ lifestyles and needs.

Robust security ensures users can enjoy their smart appliances with confidence.² In particular, Knox provides thorough protection from malware and external threats. Also, SmartThings, with its unparalleled connectivity, serves as the central engine of the AI home.

Samsung continues to strengthen the quality, durability, and customer service of its home appliances to ensure lasting reliability throughout each product’s lifecycle. Leveraging its competitive edge in key components such as compressors and motors, the company further elevates the user experience by offering the Home Appliance Remote Management (HRM) service³ — now available in more than 120 countries⁴ — and providing up to seven years of free One UI upgrades⁵ that keep products up to date with the latest AI features and security enhancements.

This philosophy has earned recognition on the global stage. At the 2025 International Design Excellence Awards (IDEA), Samsung received a Gold Award for its “Samsung Inclusive Essentials” concept in the Concepts & Speculative Design category. The award highlights not only innovations in design but also meaningful improvements in usability and social contribution.

Through Samsung Inclusive Essentials, Samsung aims to help all users understand and manage their appliances independently. As such, the design concept standardizes the shape and color of buttons and incorporates multiple senses including sight, sound and touch so that essential functions can be recognized instantly and used seamlessly.

October 15 marks International White Cane Safety Day, established by the World Blind Union to promote and protect the rights of people with visual impairments. To commemorate the day, Samsung Newsroom sat down with Dahwe Park of the Digital Appliances (DA) Business’s FX Design Group and Hyunbin Shin of the DA Business’s Design Innovation Group, who both contributed to the award-winning concept. They shared their insights on the thinking behind Samsung Inclusive Essentials and the goals it seeks to achieve.

Q. What motivated the development of Samsung Inclusive Essentials for home appliances?

Park: The latest appliance design has been moving toward simplification — doors that open with a touch instead of a handle and digital displays instead of physical buttons. For older adults and those with visual impairments, these changes have made appliances harder to use. We wanted to break down these barriers and create products that everyone could operate conveniently.

Shin: We analyzed the entire user journey from installation and use to management and maintenance. For instance, the same ‘I’-shaped marking was used inconsistently across products — sometimes to indicate a push button and other times a pull action, which made it difficult for users with visual impairments to operate appliances on their own. To address this, we standardized shapes to match their functions, simplifying and unifying them into more intuitive forms.

Q. How does this solution differ from conventional accessibility design?

Park: Traditional accessibility design often relied on adding separate functions or devices. However, user testing has shown that people with visual impairments prefer not to depend on accessories like Braille stickers or add-ons but would rather use the appliance in its original form like everyone else. Our solution improves the core design itself — without attachments — so that anyone can operate the product independently.

Shin: For the main control areas, we applied a multimodal design that combines sensory elements such as shape, texture, color, lighting and sound. Consistent feedback signals are integrated across the product so that users can recognize and operate its features more easily. Instead of flat printed icons, buttons are embossed and outlined so they can be identified by touch.

Q. Was there any feedback from user testing that left a strong impression?

Shin: We conducted multiple user tests at a local welfare center for people with visual impairments and were struck by how many of them live alone. One participant who had lost his sight later in life shared how his independence had diminished and how difficult it felt to constantly rely on others. When he traced the embossed buttons with his fingers, he said, “It may seem like a small detail, but it makes me feel respected and considered. Now I feel that I can use appliances on my own.” That moment resonated deeply with our entire team.

Park: Samsung Inclusive Essentials shows how even small changes can help people with visual impairments live independently without external assistance. It enhances autonomy, supports a more self-directed way of living and reduces the burden on families and caregivers. For individuals with visual impairments living alone, it can be an essential means of ensuring their right to a decent standard of living.

Q. It sounds like this design concept benefits not only people with low vision but all users.

Park: Exactly. Samsung Inclusive Essentials improves the fundamental elements of products in an inclusive way. For example, high-contrast colors help people with low vision, but they also allow other users to recognize controls more quickly. Beyond simply enlarging text or changing icons, we used signals such as shape and color to make appliances easier for everyone to identify and operate in different situations.

Shin: People with visual impairments may seem like a small group, but about one in every 210 people in South Korea is affected. And many people experience difficulties in their daily lives due to decreased vision caused by eye disease or presbyopia. Our solution was designed not just for people with disabilities, but to make appliances more accessible and convenient to use for all.

Q. How do you envision the future of Samsung Inclusive Essentials, and what goals do you hope to achieve?

Shin: While this project focused on people with visual impairments, our aim is to listen more broadly to users who face different challenges in daily life. We want to design appliances that address diverse needs. Samsung Inclusive Essentials goes beyond home appliances simply “usable by everyone” — it is about enabling more dignified and autonomous lives. Regardless of disability, age or environment, every user should be able to experience technology and products equally. We will continue refining our design solutions to achieve that vision.

Park: Samsung Inclusive Essentials is not just about improving features — it’s a user-centric mindset. Imagine turning on a washing machine by simply touching anywhere on the display without having to search for a small power button or opening a dishwasher without locating a specific sensor on the door. Imagine reducing the hassle of water tank and mop cloth maintenance in a robot vacuum by adopting direct water supply systems. All of these illustrate the direction inclusive design should take — making everyday interactions simpler and more seamless.

Samsung Inclusive Essentials begins with small gestures of consideration and grows into meaningful, positive user experiences. With this philosophy, Samsung appliances move beyond accessibility features to embody the design values that enhance usability — empowering everyone to understand, operate and use the products independently, with confidence.

The MRA enables mutual recognition of cybersecurity evaluation results for labeled products, helping companies accelerate market access while ensuring a high level of trust across borders. Through this arrangement, Samsung’s products that pass KISA’s Certification of IoT Cybersecurity (CIC) could be granted equivalent recognition under BSI’s labelling scheme.

“We are honored to be the first to be mutually-recognized under the Korea-Germany MRA,” said Jeong Seung Moon, Executive Vice President and Head of the R&D Team for the Digital Appliances Business at Samsung Electronics. “We will continue to prioritize robust IoT security so that users can enjoy the convenience of AI-powered home appliances with greater confidence.”

At IFA 2025 in Berlin, KISA and the BSI held a ceremony to celebrate the newly labeled products and the official signing of the MRA. The ceremony took place at the BSI booth at IFA, with BSI, KISA and Samsung DA’s key representative.

KISA Certification of IoT Cybersecurity (CIC)

CIC evaluates products in categories such as robot vacuums, smart home cameras and connected appliances, assigning one of three levels — Lite, Basic or Standard — based on their ability to protect against digital threats.

Last year, Samsung became the first company to earn the highest “Standard” grade from KISA for its robot vacuum cleaner.³ And as of now, it remains the only brand to hold the grade.

The new robot vacuum cleaner⁴ and refrigerators⁵ recently received the “Standard” grade in CIC, which is a designation reserved for devices equipped to withstand advanced hacking attempts.

Enhanced Security for Connected Homes

The robot vacuum cleaner and refrigerators feature a range of enhanced security technologies, enabling safer and smarter home automation. In addition to Samsung Knox, which protects devices against malware and external threats, the model brings:

• Knox Matrix Trust Chain — monitors the security status of all interconnected SmartThings devices to detect and prevent potential breaches.⁶
• Knox Vault — stores sensitive user data, such as personal information and authentication credentials, in a physically isolated secure chip.⁷

With these solutions, users can make use of AI features like AI Object Recognition⁸ of Bespoke AI Jet Bot Steam Ultra and SmartThings⁹ connectivity with trust, since their privacy and device security are rigorously protected.

A Seamlessly Connected AI Home

Upon entering the Smart Modular Home, visitors are greeted by a wall-mounted panel on the right featuring SmartThings’ 3D Map View. The display shows the real-time status of appliances throughout the home, letting users monitor and control devices instantly as they adapt to the user’s lifestyle and environment. At the entrance, a smart security camera² and smart door lock provide convenient and secure access.

A Home That Works Behind the Scenes

The home is a sanctuary for 93% of people and a social hub for 80%. As families spend more time together, AI Home enhances shared moments with wellness checks, personalised sleep settings and nutrition planning.

Energy efficiency is one of the main benefits consumers look for from AI. 66% believe an AI enabled home can help track costs and save money. With SmartThings Energy, AI Home can reduce washing machine energy use by up to 70%.^3,4

Security remains critical, with 40% expecting AI to improve home protection through timely alerts. Samsung Knox Vault safeguards sensitive data at the hardware level, while Knox Matrix extends protection across connected devices with ecosystem-wide security.⁵

Bespoke AI Enhances AI Capabilities

Samsung’s latest Bespoke AI appliances have taken AI features to a new level, offering a better living experience in both the kitchen and other spaces:

• Bespoke AI Jet Bot Steam Ultra: Upgraded with improved AI Object Recognition,⁶ it can now detect liquids,⁷ even transparent ones.
• Bespoke AI Washer: AI Wash+ enables a laundry experience that better fits your clothes. It clears the minimum threshold for a Grade A in energy efficiency testing by 65%.⁸

Samsung Electronics today unveiled a new campaign under the theme “SmartThings Meets AI Home.” The video demonstrates how Samsung’s AI Home delivers innovative, everyday AI experiences that enrich consumers’ lives. Released ahead of IFA 2025, the campaign highlights Samsung’s vision for the AI Home as newly defined by SmartThings.

Samsung’s AI Home understands users and adapts to their needs, delivering a personalized AI experience that connects both Samsung and third-party devices through SmartThings. The video shows examples of how AI Home enables users to enjoy more quality time and focus on what matters most by doing less at home.

In the video, SmartThings Routine adjusts the air conditioner temperature and lighting, while a single tap on the SmartThings app enables home appliances to manage household chores automatically.¹ This allows users to enjoy quality family time, comfortable relaxation and restful sleep. Additionally, through the SmartThings Pet Care service, users can care for their pets even when they are busy.

“With this campaign, we aimed to highlight Samsung’s AI home experience redefined by AI leadership and SmartThings in a way that truly connects with customers,” said Won-Jin Lee, President and Head of Global Marketing Office at Samsung Electronics. “We will continue to make efforts to bring AI home experiences that make everyday life simpler, more meaningful and more human.”

Available in over 200 countries worldwide,³ the service’s latest update simplifies the initial connection and setup process. Settings can now be customized with greater precision, tailored to fit each family’s lifestyle and needs. Additionally, integration with Samsung Health makes it easier to keep track of the well-being of loved ones.⁴

Easy Setup With Just One Link

Activity Monitoring and Inactivity Alerts: Peace of Mind Even When Apart

If Family Care detects that a care recipient has not used certain appliances like the refrigerator or TV for an extended period, it sends an alert to caregivers to check in. Upon receiving the alert, they can respond immediately — either by calling the care recipient or by remotely activating a registered robot vacuum with a built-in camera to check the situation at home. The inactivity alert interval can also be adjusted to suit each family’s needs.

If care recipients use the Samsung Health app, caregivers can also view details such as wake-up times, bedtimes and daily step counts — enabling a more proactive approach to health management.⁵

From Daily Safety to Cherished Moments: Keeping Families Connected

A-65% Bespoke AI Washer: A New Milestone in Energy Efficiency

Following the A-55% Bespoke AI Washer introduced at IFA 2024, Samsung will unveil its new A-65% washer, which consumes 65% less energy than the minimum energy efficiency requirements for a Class A rating in the European market. This elevated performance is achieved through enhanced motor efficiency and refined washing and circulation algorithms.

The new washer also features the enhanced AI Wash+, which now intelligently adapts to an expanded range of fabric types, including outdoor wear and denim. By detecting the weight, soiling level and fabric type, AI Wash+ automatically adjusts the amount of water and detergent, along with the wash time to deliver optimal results.

Alongside these functional upgrades, the washer also comes in a new color — Neat White — in addition to the existing dark steel. Both variants offer Samsung’s intuitive 7” touch screen for an elevated user experience with innovative features and functionality, as well as seamless integration with SmartThings.

To complement the washer, Samsung is also introducing a matching dryer in Neat White that includes AI Dry+, which detects fabric type² and moisture level to optimize drying time and energy use, reducing energy use by 20% and drying time by 20%.³

Second-Gen Bespoke AI Laundry Combo: Taking Convenience One Step Further

At IFA 2025, Samsung is also showcasing the second-generation Bespoke AI Laundry Combo, building on the popularity of the globally launched first-generation model. First launched to the Korean market earlier this year, this new model exemplifies the latest advancements in Samsung’s AI-powered laundry solutions.

Retaining the same external dimensions, the updated combo delivers a 3kg increase in drying capacity⁴ and a 20-minute reduction in drying time.⁵ These improvements were made possible through structural enhancements, including a more densely arranged heat exchanger fin layout that expands the heat transfer surface area by 8.5%, and a more powerful preheating capability from the upgraded heater system.

The second-generation model also introduces a range of practical upgrades aimed at enhancing everyday usability. Upgraded from the first generation’s AI Wash & Dry, the second-generation model’s AI Wash & Dry + adds denim and outdoor to the list of detectable fabric types.⁶ Auto Open Door+ — a feature unique to the combo — automatically opens the door after washing or drying to help reduce moisture and odor, while blowing air into the tub after wash-only cycles to lower humidity and keep the interior fresh. The model also offers optimized cycles for modern routines, including a 79-minute Super Speed cycle,⁷ a 49-minute single garment cycle⁸ and a 39-minute shirt cycle.⁹ To make navigating these options easier, the 7” touchscreen features a new Dial Theme interface that prominently displays six frequently used cycles in a clean, circular layout for more intuitive control.

The combo is offered in the Korean market in both Normal and Infinite design types, with the latter featuring a flat design and a hidden touch door, complemented by real stainless-steel surfaces that reflect Samsung’s premium design direction.

As the event draws nearer, Samsung Newsroom is taking a closer look at the company’s innovation trajectory and how its appliances have advanced into the future.

From the Talking Refrigerator to Bixby, and Now a Voice-Connected Home

Samsung marked the beginning of voice-enabled appliances in 1985 with the debut of its Talking Refrigerator. Later equipped with early speech synthesis technology in 1989, the product went beyond simple voice guidance by offering scheduled playback of recordings, a family memo feature and door-open alerts — laying the foundation for AI-enabled voice interaction.

This early innovation eventually evolved into Bixby,² Samsung’s AI voice assistant introduced in 2018. Bixby has since become the intelligence and control hub of the company’s home appliances, enabling voice control across refrigerators, air conditioners, washing machines and more. With Voice ID,³ the AI assistant can now even recognize individual users to provide customized information.

Appliance Screens, Now the Hub of the Home

Samsung was an early pioneer of the concept of “screen appliances,” presenting a vision for the future of connected homes. In 1982, the company introduced a multi-purpose microwave with a screen, which not only allowed users to check cooking instructions but also watch TV and even monitor home entry with surveillance camera functions. Later, Samsung expanded the role of the screen to refrigerators, transforming them from simple storage units into the hub of daily family life.

In 2016, Samsung launched the Family Hub refrigerator — an IoT-enabled fridge. Equipped with a 21.5-inch touchscreen and internal cameras, it allowed users to check the status of their food items and manage grocery shopping online, opening up a completely new kitchen experience. Since then, refrigerators, washing machines, air conditioners and other appliances have been connected through SmartThings,⁴ with screens that have evolved into control hubs that let users monitor and manage smart devices throughout the home at a glance.

From Neuro-Fuzzy Washers to Bespoke AI: The Evolution of Intelligent Appliances

Samsung took its first step toward intelligent appliances in 1980 with the launch of an air conditioner embedded with a microcomputer chip. This spirit of innovation continued into the 1990s, when Samsung launched the Neuro-Fuzzy washing machine which features the fuzzy logic IC⁵ and neuro-algorithms, in 1991. Using optical sensors, it detected soil level, load size and water temperature, then automatically optimized the wash cycle — introducing the concept of appliances that sense, decide and deliver personalized solutions.

In 2018, Samsung launched the QuickDrive washing machine, which applied AI-based curation to recommend wash cycles based on fabric type, color and soil level. This innovation laid the groundwork for the Bespoke AI Laundry Combo, equipped with OptiWash and AI Optimal Dry, which automatically detect fabric types and soil levels to deliver optimized wash cycles and drying temperatures.⁶

Samsung also brought intelligence to vacuum cleaners with the Hauzen robot vacuum in 2006. Using a gyro sensor, it calculated distance and angles to map out optimal cleaning routes through self-mapping capabilities. This marked a shift from simple dust collection to appliances capable of responding to their environment. Today’s Bespoke Jet Bot Combo builds on this legacy with advanced security and AI-powered camera sensors that recognize and avoid objects,⁷ distinguish floor types⁸ and navigate more intelligently.

At the center of this lineup is the Extractor Induction Hob, which integrates a powerful hood with a turbo slim fan directly into the cooktop surface with an exhaust duct installed below or behind the countertop, creating a strong airflow that quickly removes smoke and cooking smells.

The Extractor Induction Hob is equipped with Flex Zone Plus, with each zone having four induction coils to enable flexible placement of pots and pans¹ and provide even heat distribution over a wider area.² Crafted with a matte finish, high-durability glass and an anti-fingerprint coating, the surface is scratch resistant and easy to maintain — keeping its clean, premium look after each use.

This product not only eliminates the need for ceiling-mounted hoods with its performance but also enhances spatial openness and visual flow. As European kitchen trends shift toward removing upper cabinets and emphasizing large island counters, this new product offers an excellent option for customers who prefer a cleaner, more open kitchen aesthetic with an island-style layout.³

Also debuting in Europe is the Bespoke AI Dishwasher featuring its Auto Open Door, which comes in handy when fully built-in, so users don’t have to add a handle to the exterior furniture of the dishwasher door and can retain a clean, seamless finish to match the kitchen cabinets. Additionally, the redesigned upper rack adds a dedicated space for glassware to improve loading flexibility.

The dishwasher is not only aesthetically pleasing but also boasts outstanding performance through its AI Wash cycle. Its high-sensitivity turbidity sensor and AI algorithm automatically select the optimal cleaning cycle based on the dishes’ soil level.⁴ Initially launched in Korea and the U.S. earlier this year, the Bespoke AI Dishwasher’s AI Wash cycle was used more than twice as much as the normal cycle — which had previously been the most frequently used cycle — in both countries, as of August 2025.⁵

To align with Samsung’s commitment to enabling more advanced home living, both products offer enhanced energy efficiency. The new built-in kitchen lineup will be on display at IFA 2025, which will take place from September 5-9 in Berlin, Germany, with both the Extractor Induction Hob and the Bespoke AI Dishwasher launching in Europe in H1 2026.⁶

Samsung Electronics today announced that two series of robot vacuum cleaners, the Bespoke AI Jet Bot Steam¹ and the Bespoke Jet Bot Combo,² and Bespoke AI Refrigerators³ have received IoT security certification from TÜV Nord, a global certification organization based in Germany.

This marks the first time Samsung’s digital appliances have received TÜV Nord security certification, further underscoring the company’s leadership in both home appliance technology and data security.

TÜV Nord is a globally renowned institution, acknowledged as an IECEE-accredited National Certification Body. The certification is based on the ETSI EN 303 645 standard, established by the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI), which defines security and privacy requirements across the lifecycle of consumer IoT devices — from design and development to distribution and operation. Key criteria include data encryption, authentication and access control, secure software updates, personal data protection and vulnerability management.

The European market is already tightening security requirements with updates to the Radio Equipment Directive (RED) and upcoming implementation of the Cyber Resilience Act (CRA). Against this backdrop, TÜV Nord certification demonstrates Samsung’s readiness to meet evolving international standards and its commitment to protecting users in connected environments.

Samsung has strengthened its home appliances with a wide range of Knox security technologies that safeguard user data through multiple layers of protection. These include the verification of unauthorized firmware modifications when the device is turned on. Additionally, all monitoring video footage and user commands from the robot cleaner are encrypted and only decrypted at their intended destination.⁴

The certified 2025 Bespoke AI Refrigerators and the Bespoke AI Jet Bot Steam further enhance security capabilities by integrating Knox Matrix and Knox Vault. Knox Matrix enables mutual security checks between devices, ensuring users are promptly alerted in the event of data theft risks. Knox Vault secures sensitive personal information, such as passwords, by processing and storing it on a dedicated hardware subsystem.

Researchers from Samsung Research’s Life Solution Team and APL applied nano-engineering techniques to improve the efficiency of Peltier devices by nearly 75% through the use of new thin-film semiconductor materials. A Unified Software Experience Across Samsung Products

With One UI, Samsung is unifying the user experience for the product categories of mobile devices, TVs and home appliances through the application of consistent design elements and functionality. This includes Apps & Services like Bixby,³ Gallery and Samsung TV Plus, which are being made available across various types of screens to enable seamless device interaction and media consumption. Device Connectivity is also enhanced through SmartThings, integrating the home’s devices into a unified ecosystem with easy access to helpful services like Family Care, Pet Care and Home Care.⁴ When it comes to Common UI, users will get the benefit of familiar interfaces like Now Brief,⁵ which deliver personalized and relevant information at a glance. Now Brief offers family members a curated selection of useful content, including daily weather updates, family schedules, tailored recipes and home insights such as how much time is left on the washing machine.

7-Year Software Support for Smart Appliances

Wi-Fi-enabled Samsung home appliances will be eligible for software updates for up to seven years after launching, starting from models launched in 2024. This commitment supports product longevity, enhanced functionality and prolonged security throughout the product lifecycle.

Coming This September: Updates for 2024 Smart Appliances

Beginning in September, eligible 2024 launched models will be receiving various software updates that bring enhancements in usability, intelligence and security:

• Upgraded Security: Knox Matrix,⁶ Samsung’s comprehensive security solution extending protection across devices based on private block chain technology, will be extended to Wi-Fi⁷ enabled refrigerators, washers and dryers, air conditioners, EHS and slide-in induction ranges launched in 2024.⁸ All of these products will be protected through Trust Chain, which allows connected appliances to monitor each other’s security status. Screen-equipped models like the refrigerator with Family Hub or 9” screen and Bespoke AI washers with the 7” screen will also be receiving advanced protections like encrypted Credential Sync and Passkey support. These screen appliances will also be updated with the Knox Security dashboard provided on 2025 models, which allow users to easily monitor the security status of connected appliances in real time.
• Smarter Features: Refrigerators with the Family Hub and 9” screens will benefit from the upgraded AI Vision Inside applied to 2025 products, which now supports the recognition of frequently used packaged foods in addition to a larger number of fresh foods.⁹ Bixby¹⁰ is also upgraded to support Voice ID, allowing it to recognize user voices and provide personalized experiences on shared devices. Users can also enable Bixby quickly and intuitively by simply double tapping on the screen.
• Service Expansion: Samsung TV Plus, supported on refrigerators with Family Hub, will also expand to Canada, Brazil and India in addition to the originally supported countries,¹¹ and 7″-screen washing machines will support eight additional Indian local languages such as Bengali, Punjabi and Gujarati.¹²
• Refined Interface: A refreshed One UI design — first seen on 2025 appliances — will come to 2024 models like refrigerators, washers, ranges and EHS products, offering intuitive navigation and region-specific settings.

Today, Auto Open Door is available across a range of appliances, including refrigerators, ovens, washing machines, dryers and dishwashers.¹

Washer-dryers and dishwashers open automatically at the end of a cycle for better hygiene and more convenience. The 2025 Bespoke AI Laundry Combo goes further, adding air circulation to reduce up to 40%² of leftover moisture in the drum after washing.

Starting this year, users don’t even need to say “Hi Bixby” to activate Auto Open Door — a simple command like “Open the fridge door” is enough.

Samsung Newsroom spoke with Nae-young Park from the Washing Machine Module Lab, Digital Appliances (DA) Business, and Chang-Woo Han from the AI Solution Team, Samsung Research at Samsung Electronics to learn how the feature came to life.

Q. What inspired the development of Auto Open Door?

Park: When putting groceries into the refrigerator or loading laundry into the washing machine, users often had to set down what they were carrying just to open the door. With washing machines, leaving laundry inside after a cycle could lead to lingering moisture and musty odors. We developed this feature to ease those inconveniences while also considering hygiene.

Q. What aspects did you focus on most during development?

Park: We considered several factors, including opening angle and speed, to make sure the door opened in a stable, natural way. Angles were tested in one-degree increments, and the structure was fine-tuned to create an experience that didn’t feel too slow or too fast. For washing machines, we even measured oxygen concentration at different door angles to find the optimal setting for smooth air circulation — effectively reducing residual moisture in the drum.

Q. How was the voice-activated door-opening feature designed to work without calling Bixby?

Han: Because the system had to recognize commands without a wake-up phrase, it needed to remain in standby and respond quickly. That required balancing energy efficiency with responsiveness, using low-power, low-latency technology. To achieve this, we implemented low-power keyword detection and on-device automatic speech recognition (ASR) — detecting the user’s voice, identifying phrases like “Open the fridge door” and using on-device ASR to accurately interpret and execute the command.

Q. What efforts went into making the voice recognition technology stable and efficient?

Han: High-quality voice recognition depends on accurately understanding a variety of commands and requires large amounts of recorded voice data. Since collecting that data manually is time-consuming and resource-intensive, we developed zero-shot text-to-speech (TTS)³ technology to streamline the process. Zero-shot TTS can synthesize required sentences in many different voices and use them for training. We advanced the technology to the point where it can replace models trained on real human voices.

Q. What is the future development direction for Auto Open Door?

Park: Looking ahead, Auto Open Door will be expanded to more products. We want to equip a broader range of appliances with this technology so users can interact with any Samsung appliance naturally. Our goal is to create solutions that make life easier for everyone, regardless of their physical condition or circumstance.

Han: This year, we introduced new voice recognition capabilities such as Voice ID — which distinguishes between family members — and voice control that works without a wake-up phrase. Moving forward, we will keep improving core performance while developing more personalized services for users.

With Auto Open Door, Samsung has turned user-centered innovation into everyday convenience. Going forward, Samsung plans to continue making this feature available on more of its products. As the company continues to deliver differentiated technologies and new appliance experiences, consumers can look forward to even greater ease and comfort at home.

Samsung Electronics is expanding its Home Appliance Remote Management (HRM) service globally, enhancing the remote diagnostic and troubleshooting experience for smart appliances users around the world. The service is now active across 122 countries with support for 17 languages, enabling seamless support for a wide global customer base.

HRM is a service that connects SmartThings-connected appliances to Samsung’s service network, maintaining a continuous record of device conditions and enabling real-time monitoring through the service center.¹ With customer consent, advisors at service centers can remotely access diagnostics data – including refrigerators’ inner temperature levels, dryers’ moisture levels or air conditioner cooling performance – and provide solutions or guidance to solve issues.²

HRM has been used in remote customer support since 2020 in Korea, and was piloted across 10 countries in 2024. This year, the service has officially rolled out globally across 122 countries, supporting refrigerators and washing machines. To facilitate successful global rollout, Samsung has expanded HRM’s multilingual support from English and Korean to 17 languages in total – including Spanish, Portuguese, German, French, Russian and Czech.³

Enhancing Service for Screen Appliances

In line with the expansion of screen-equipped appliances like Bespoke refrigerators and washing machines, Samsung has also introduced a screen-sharing feature to enhance diagnostic capabilities. For various screens of 7”, 9” and Family Hubs, its users can share their device screens in real time with service center advisors, allowing diagnosis of display-related issues, app malfunctions or multimedia playback problems. First introduced in 2021 with Family Hub refrigerators, screen sharing expanded to refrigerators with the 9” screen in July 2025, with support for washing machines with the 7” screen to follow in September.⁴

Immediate Solutions and Reduced Service Visits through Remote Assistance

Samsung’s HRM service improves the efficiency of customer care by enabling real-time remote solutions for simple product issues that previously required in-home technician visits. For instance, for a customer that reported that the washing machine’s buttons were not responding, the advisor was able to diagnose through the HRM system that the Child Lock setting was active. With simple guidance on how to disable the setting, the problem was solved instantly without a technician’s visit. In another case where a customer reported condensation on the refrigerator door, with user consent, the advisor was able to remotely turn on the internal heater, which effectively eliminated the moisture.

In cases when an on-site visit is ultimately necessary, HRM improves the experience by allowing technicians to review detailed diagnostic data in advance. They are able to arrive at the site prepared with the correct parts and tools, reducing repeat visits and significantly shortening repair time. This makes HRM especially effective in large countries and hard-to-reach regions where traditional technician visits may face delays.

In regions such as the United States and India, HRM is also used proactively to address potential device malfunctions before they escalate.⁵ In the U.S., SmartThings-connected devices are actively monitored for a range of potential risks. When a risk is detected, users are promptly informed through SmartThings push alarms, enabling them to take timely action. Similarly, in India, the service center actively monitors SmartThings-connected appliances, identifying potential risks and reaching out to customers to discuss the issue. When required, a service engineer is dispatched to conduct thorough inspections or perform part replacements, ensuring timely and effective resolution for any concerns and preventing major issues from arising.

Growing Adoption and User Satisfaction

The utilization of the HRM system is steadily increasing, with a notable rise in usage rates attributed to enhanced language support across the regions being served. In July 2025, the number of incoming service calls globally that utilized HRM doubled compared to January of the same year. In France, the usage rate of HRM for applicable devices increased more than 30% points this year following the introduction of French language support.⁶ This contrasts with the previous year when the system was in its pilot phase with English, highlighting the importance of language accessibility on system adoption.

User satisfaction is also improving. In India, where the HRM usage rate for service calls is higher than other regions, the customer satisfaction score for remote service calls improved by more than 10% points in the second quarter of 2025 compared to the previous year. Key areas of improvement included the resolution of issues and the professionalism demonstrated during calls, contributing to the overall enhancement in customer experience.

With the continued expansion of customer support solutions like HRM, Samsung is realizing more convenient and efficient ways to care for home appliances – reducing downtime, enhancing the user experience and setting new standards for global service. As HRM reaches more countries, languages and product categories, Samsung remains committed to delivering smarter, more connected care for the homes of the future.

How Samsung Products Achieve the UL Solutions Diamond-Level Ratings

To provide users with peace of mind, it is crucial to determine that the robot vacuum cleaner has strong security capabilities. Especially in case of Bespoke AI Jet Bot Steam Ultra,⁴ the premium model in the series, uses a camera during the cleaning process and offers features such as home monitoring through SmartThings connectivity.⁵ Similarly, robust security measures are essential to Samsung’s screen-based appliances, which can monitor other home appliances and store user information in the web browser.

To establish this standard of protection, Samsung has applied Samsung Knox, which provides a multi-layered security system. It ensures encrypted communication and robust defense against external threats. Additionally, Samsung is strengthening security across these new products with IoT security marketing claims verified by UL Solutions this year by applying Knox Matrix Trust Chain⁶ and Knox Vault.⁷ Knox Matrix Trust Chain utilizes blockchain technology to monitor connected appliances’ security status in real time. Knox Vault, which is applied to home appliances for the first time in 2025, stores particularly sensitive user information, such as passwords and authentication information, in a separate hardware chip to ensure protection. These continued efforts will allow the company to deliver a more secure connected home experience and further extend security certifications across its product portfolio.

Beyond its high level of security, the Bespoke AI Jet Bot Steam Ultra offers enhanced hygiene through steam sanitization.⁸ Equipped with AI Object Recognition,⁹ it allows users to enjoy a more personalized and effortless cleaning experience that’s tailored to their home environment.¹⁰

The Bespoke AI Refrigerator and the Bespoke AI Laundry lineup, which were introduced at the global “Welcome to Bespoke AI” launch event in March, are equipped with the AI Home or AI Family Hub screen.¹¹ The screen allows for easy control of the device and displays product-related information in an intuitive way.

Availability

Samsung’s newest vacuum and mop robot cleaner, the Bespoke AI Jet Bot Steam, is scheduled to be showcased at IFA 2025, where its key features and strengths will be on full display. Bespoke AI refrigerators and the Bespoke AI Laundry lineup are already being rolled out in select markets globally.

The UL Solutions IoT Security Rating Program

UL Solutions is a global safety science leader that evaluates marketing claims for smart devices through objective, rigorous and science-based evaluation. Its IoT Security Rating Program verifies a brand’s marketing claims about its product’s IoT security capabilities and ranks those capabilities on five levels: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum and Diamond.

The Diamond-level rating is the highest in the program. Only products that successfully detect and block malicious software, prevent unauthorized access and anonymize user data can earn a Diamond-level rating. Products that achieve this level must also detect unknown threats and run real-time vulnerability management systems.

The team successfully developed a high-efficiency thin-film semiconductor Peltier device  using nano-engineering technology and demonstrated refrigerant-free cooling, highlighting the potential to deliver outstanding performance without conventional refrigerants.

Previously in 2024, Samsung Electronics opened a new chapter in refrigeration technology through the launch of the Bespoke AI Hybrid Refrigerator, which combines Peltier devices with high-efficiency compressors. Much like a hybrid vehicle, this system intelligently switches between the two cooling methods depending on what best suits the situation.

While the Bespoke AI Hybrid Refrigerator marked a major step forward, the new thin-film Peltier technology developed with Johns Hopkins APL represents a leap into the future.  How will this newly unveiled innovation be applied to home appliances, and how will it shape the cooling technology of tomorrow? To find out, Samsung Newsroom spoke with Sungjin Jung from Samsung Research, who has led the technology’s development, and Hajin Jeong from the DA (Digital Appliances) Business at Samsung Electronics, who is working to integrate it into Samsung’s next-generation refrigerators.

Precise Temperature Control With Semiconductor Devices? Understanding the Principles Behind Peltier Cooling Technology

Conventional refrigerators operate using vapor compression technology. In this system, refrigerant gas is compressed into a liquid and then repeatedly evaporated to absorb and release heat, thereby lowering the internal temperature. While this widely used cooling method has proven effective, the use of refrigerants raises environmental concerns, and there are limitations in reducing power consumption — making it a challenge to carry this approach into the future and adapt it to evolving needs. Additionally, the bulky compressors and complex mechanical components inherent in this system place constraints on refrigerator design.

In contrast, Peltier cooling technology takes a different approach. As a semiconductor-based method that uses electricity to transfer heat, Peltier cooling utilizes the Peltier effect, in which an electric current passing through both ends of a Peltier device  causes one side to absorb heat while the other side releases it.

Utilizing the Peltier effect, the surface that absorbs heat and cools can be placed inside the refrigerator, while the surface that releases the absorbed heat can be positioned outside — effectively lowering the internal temperature. The greatest advantage of this method is its precise control of heat flow using only electricity. In addition, its simple structure compared to refrigerant-based mechanical systems allows for greater flexibility in refrigerator design.

Advancing Peltier Technology and Expanding Possibilities Through Global Collaboration

In early 2023, Samsung Electronics ramped up cross-organizational collaboration — bringing together the DA Business, Samsung Research and Global Technology Research — to commercialize Peltier cooling technology and enhance its performance. The DA Business primarily focused on Peltier-technology-based product development, leading to the launch of the Bespoke AI Hybrid Refrigerator in early 2024. Samsung Research and Global Technology Research, meanwhile, drove technological advancement by developing high-performance Peltier devices with improved output and durability.

Around the same time, Samsung Research also initiated global collaboration efforts to pursue breakthroughs in fundamental technologies. In late 2023, it partnered with Johns Hopkins APL in the United States eventually launching an eight-month-long full-scale joint research project in April the following year.

The core objective of this joint research was to leverage Johns Hopkins University’s nano-thin-film Peltier device technology to boost the output of conventional milliwatt-class Peltier devices to several tens of watts, paving the way for a high-efficiency thin-film Peltier system suitable for integration into home appliances.

Over the course of the project, Samsung Electronics particularly demonstrated strengths in system design and packaging technology. As Peltier cooling involves simultaneous heat absorption and heat generation occur simultaneously on opposite sides of the device, performance can drop sharply if the temperature difference between the two sides is not minimized. During the process of applying the nano-thin-film Peltier devices — structured differently compared to conventional ones — directly to refrigerators, challenges such as increased contact thermal resistance, which hindered heat transfer, or unstable performance arose. As a result, packaging solutions that enable efficient heat transfer on both sides of the Peltier device became one of the core components in developing a high-efficiency Peltier cooling system.

“Through simulations and iterative testing, we identified the root causes of the issues and designed new thermal interface materials (TIM) and assembly techniques to enable efficient heat transfer,” Jung explained.

This newly developed next-generation thin-film Peltier device boasts a cooling efficiency approximately 75% higher than conventional devices. By minimizing heat loss on each side of the Peltier device, the joint research demonstrated the potential for developing high-efficiency cooling appliances using the new technology.

Bringing Peltier Cooling Technology Into Everyday Life

With Samsung Research and Johns Hopkins APL having developed the next-generation Peltier cooling technology, it was now the DA Business’s turn to translate this technology into consumer products.

In the Bespoke AI Hybrid Refrigerator Samsung launched in 2024, the compressor operates under normal conditions such as routine storage and retrieval, while the Peltier device activates alongside the compressor during high-load situations — like when storing large amounts of groceries or placing hot food inside — thereby enhancing both cooling performance and energy efficiency. Additionally, when defrosting frost inside the cooling unit, the Peltier device remains active, minimizing internal temperature fluctuations during the process.

In sections where both cooling mechanisms operate simultaneously, optimal efficiency hinged on the layout design. “Since the compressor is located at the lower rear, we redesigned the interior structure to position the Peltier device at the top, where it wouldn’t be affected by heat interference,” explained Jeong.

As a result, the refrigerator reduced power consumption by as much as 30% compared to the top grade of Korea’s energy efficiency rating labeling system,¹ while also significantly improving its ability to maintain a stable internal temperature.

The DA Business’ vision for hybrid refrigeration continues to evolve. Currently available only in select markets such as Korea, the U.S. and Europe, the company is accelerating joint development with Samsung Research to create models that can operate reliably even in hot and humid tropical regions such as India.

With the application of Samsung’s next-generation Peltier cooling technology, the hybrid refrigerators of tomorrow are expected to deliver even greater cooling performance and energy efficiency. “Integrating this next-generation Peltier cooling technology into our existing hybrid refrigerators will enable more precise temperature control and further reduce power consumption,” said Jeong.

Toward a Fully Refrigerant-Free Future

Peltier cooling is also a technology for a better planet. Refrigerants commonly used in refrigerators can damage the ozone layer and contribute to global warming if released, prompting increasingly strict regulations in the U.S. and Europe. Against this backdrop, Peltier cooling technology is gaining recognition as a versatile, energy-efficient solution.

Samsung Electronics has set a medium- to long-term goal of going beyond hybrid structures to develop a fully refrigerant-free refrigerator powered solely by Peltier cooling technology.

“There’s still considerable research ahead before we can create a fully refrigerant-free refrigerator,” said Sungjin Jung . “Moving forward, we plan to unlock new possibilities in Peltier cooling by integrating other cutting-edge technologies such as AI, semiconductor processing and 3D printing into our work.”

“The DA Business and Samsung Research are working in lockstep from a product development standpoint to perfect this next-generation technology and fast-track its commercialization,” added Hajin Jeong.

Anyone who has experienced heat-damaged or shrunken clothes knows the risks of high drying temperatures. The Bespoke AI Laundry Combo addresses this concern by keeping internal temperatures below 60°C,⁴ helping fabrics retain their original shape.

AI detects the weight of each load and precisely adjusts the temperature — raising it for smaller loads to save time and lowering it for larger ones to ensure even drying. This prevents common issues like clothes feeling dry on the outside but remaining damp inside.

Hassle-Free Heat Exchanger Maintenance With Auto Cleaning

As a key component of the drying systems, the heat exchanger requires regular cleaning to prevent reduced performance. The Auto Condenser Cleaning⁵ feature takes care of this maintenance by spraying high-pressure water before each drying cycle, clearing out dust to maintain smooth operation.

The Bespoke AI Laundry Combo also helps minimize dust accumulation. By reducing airflow resistance in the duct and using a powerful fan, the machine generates strong air currents that effectively remove dust from fabrics. The back of the unit features multiple vents that allow dust to escape quickly, cutting down on residual particles.

A Laundry Machine That Keeps Evolving

Samsung continues to lead in AI-powered home appliances that evolve through regular software updates. The Bespoke AI Laundry Combo is no exception — last year’s model continues to receive ongoing upgrades to improve both functionality and performance.

One notable update is the lint filter⁶ cleaning reminder, alerting users to clear out dust and debris collected during the wash and dry cycles. Previously, users had to check the filter manually. Starting this year, the machine automatically detects filter blockage levels and sends notifications for easier, more intuitive maintenance.

Fresh, Odor-Free Laundry After Every Cycle

Unable to unload laundry right after a cycle ends? The Auto Open Door+ feature helps by automatically opening the door once the cycle finishes, releasing heat and humidity from inside the machine. After a wash-only cycle, this function activates airflow once the door opens — reducing internal moisture by up to 40%.⁷

The U.S. Tech Seminar took place on March 18 at Samsung Home, a Bespoke AI experience space in SoHo, New York City — a neighborhood synonymous with art and creative living.

American consumers tend to prioritize practicality and efficiency. Taking this into account, Samsung set up a dedicated experience zone for the large-capacity Bespoke AI Laundry Vented Combo, featuring a product cutaway mock-up that allowed visitors to intuitively understand the product’s core technologies and features. On the same day, the European Tech Seminar kicked off in Frankfurt, Germany, at World of Samsung — a global showcase designed to provide an in-depth look at Samsung’s products.

A key highlight was the Bespoke AI Jet Ultra, which features the world’s most powerful suction for a cordless stick vacuum cleaner at 400W. Samsung developers gave presentations, offering insight into the vacuum cleaner’s high-performance engineering. Latin America: SmartThings-Connected Home Appliances Growing at Twice the Global Rate

The Latin America Tech Seminar took place on June 3 in the vibrant metropolis of Mexico City, Mexico, drawing media and influencers from 13 countries to experience Samsung’s new lineup firsthand. Consumers in the region have shown high interest in connected living, with SmartThings-connected appliance adoption growing at more than twice the global average.²

Reflecting this demand, demonstrations highlighted various features including Map View, Bixby, Routines — all easily accessible via SmartThings or the AI Home screen. Attendees also visited Sam’s House, a premium residential showroom where they engaged in hands-on interactions with Samsung’s connected products.

Southeast Asia: AI Appliances Optimized for Hot, Humid Climates

On June 20, Samsung held the Southeast Asia Tech Seminar at a showroom in Bangkok, Thailand, where attendees explored the company’s latest products in settings simulating both commercial and residential spaces.

Through demonstrations, attendees experienced how the Voice ID feature on the Bespoke AI Family Hub refrigerator can recognize individual voices to deliver personalized responses. They also saw how Samsung is localizing AI home appliances to better suit Southeast Asia’s hot and humid climate — for example, the 1-Way Cassette system air conditioner and the Bespoke AI Top Load Washer. “The use of AI to enhance user experience and facilitate both usage and energy savings is particularly valuable and useful,” said Kemachad Gunpai of Future Trends Thailand who attended the seminar.

Southwest Asia: AI-Powered, Efficient Cooling Solutions in the Spotlight

Held on June 25 in Gurugram, India, the Southwest Asia Tech Seminar focused on SmartThings-connected solutions and energy-efficient features tailored to local preferences.

Among the demonstrations were AI appliances responding to sleep patterns detected by motion sensors, alongside cooling solutions tailored for Indian consumers. Attendees also received detailed explanations on how to track energy usage via SmartThings, a particularly relevant feature amid rising electricity costs. Samsung employees also explained how each product operates in AI Energy Mode to maximize efficiency and minimize energy consumption.

“Samsung will continue to develop and expand the Global Tech Seminars in ways that reflect the unique local characteristics of each region,” said Soohyuk Ro, Vice President and Head of Tech Insight Group at Digital Appliances (DA) Business, Samsung Electronics, as the seminars came to an end. “In doing so, we will provide even deeper insights into how Samsung’s AI Home and innovative AI appliances can bring meaningful benefits to daily life for everyone.”

“Our primary goal for this year is to realize an AI Home that adapts intuitively to the user,” said Jeong Seung Moon, EVP and Head of the R&D Team for Digital Appliances Business at Samsung Electronics. “We aim to enhance the user experience through continuous software upgrades for existing products, taking us one step closer to a true AI Home experience.”

New Update: Bixby and Samsung TV Plus

The Voice ID feature² is a new multi-voice recognition function provided by Bixby.³ It identifies users’ voices registered either on the refrigerator or a Galaxy mobile device, enabling personalized features based on the recognized user. This allows consumers to personalize shared home appliances for individual use, offering greater convenience and functionality.

For example, Bixby intelligently switches to each user’s Samsung account based on the recognized user. Users can check their registered schedules on the calendar,⁴ or their photos⁵ using simple voice commands. Also, they can trigger an alarm on their phone to check its location, even when the device is set to silent mode.⁶

The Voice ID feature also enables seamless interactions with the refrigerator screen for users who utilize vision enhancements on their Galaxy mobile phones. Even without a request to switch accounts, Bixby automatically switches accounts with general conversations for these users. It then synchronizes the appliance’s display modes with the settings on the user’s mobile phone, such as color inversion or grayscale.⁷

Additionally, Samsung has introduced a new way to activate Bixby on the screen. Previously, users could activate Bixby by clicking the Bixby icon on the screen or through voice commands. When the screen is off, an additional option has been added to activate Bixby by double-tapping the display. Users can make the most of this feature by selecting their preferred method in the settings.

The update is being applied to Bespoke AI Refrigerators with AI Family Hub launching in 2025 first,⁸ with availability coming after the completion of the latest software update on AI Family Hub screens or SmartThings.

Additionally, Samsung plans to gradually apply this update to the Bespoke AI refrigerators with AI Home⁹ in the second quarter of 2025. For refrigerators with AI Home, the update expands the service area for Samsung TV Plus, as well. Previously available in only South Korea and the United States, the service will extend to Canada, Brazil, Australia, Mexico and India. Thanks to the update, it is expected that consumers will be able to easily enjoy entertainment features right from their kitchen with Samsung TV Plus.

Samsung Electronics today announced that it achieved the highest market share in the European microwave segment in 2024, maintaining its No. 1 position for the tenth consecutive year.¹

According to data analytics company Euromonitor International, Samsung was ranked as Europe’s No. 1 selling microwave brand based on microwave sales volume in 2024. With this result, Samsung has held the top spot every year since 2015.

“Samsung’s success in the European microwave market comes from our ability to align with what consumers value — a balance of design and intuitive usability,” said Taehwan Hwang, EVP and Head of the Sales & Marketing Team for the Digital Appliances Business at Samsung Electronics. “We will continue to lead the market by leveraging our strengths in smart connectivity and premium design.”

Making Design and Innovation Central to the Kitchen

Samsung has targeted the European market with products offering premium design, reflecting the interest of local consumers in kitchen interiors. Since 2019, the company has offered its Bespoke Microwave lineup, which features seven colors² options and a glass finish, a combination that quickly gained popularity across the region.

To further enhance everyday convenience, Samsung introduced the MW7300B All-in-one Microwave Oven in 2024.
