Samsung Electronics today announced that it has signed the European Union’s (EU) Code of Conduct (CoC) for interoperability and Energy Smart Appliances (ESAs). The CoC aims to accelerate the rollout of connected appliances that can work seamlessly with energy systems and help households use electricity more efficiently.

“Samsung believes connected appliances can play a meaningful role in the energy transition by helping households use energy more intelligently, without adding complexity to everyday life,” said Hyesoon Yang, Executive Vice President for the Digital Appliances (DA) New Biz Team at Samsung Electronics. “By joining this EU initiative, we aim to help make energy-smart functionality more accessible to consumers.”

Developed with manufacturers by the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre (JRC) and Directorate-General (DG) for Energy, the CoC promotes cross-brand interoperability by defining common energy-related services and the information needed to enable them, even when different communication protocols are used. It covers a variety of energy-labeled appliances, such as major white goods and HVAC categories.

In line with the initiative’s timelines, Samsung combo, washer and dishwasher models that meet the CoC requirements have been registered in the European Product Registry for Energy Labelling (EPREL) as ESAs. These models support the Optimal Scheduling¹ feature within SmartThings Energy,² enabling appliances to operate during off-peak hours. Additionally, SmartThings Energy allows users to monitor and manage energy consumption through the SmartThings app.

Following its 2024 debut, the 2026 Bespoke AI Laundry Combo is launching with upgrades that shorten wash-to-dry cycles and enhance drying performance. Under specific conditions, the Super Speed cycle can complete a full wash-to-dry cycle in less time than the previous ventless combos,² helping users reduce total laundry time without compromising performance.³

Super Speed leverages a high-pressure Speed Spray that improves detergent penetration and rinsing to enable fast and efficient washing, while the newly incorporated booster heat exchanger delivers improved drying performance. The upgraded combo also features Auto Open Door+,⁴ which not only automatically opens the door, but also activates internal air circulation⁵ after wash-only cycles to help prevent laundry left in the drum from developing a musty odor.

Upgraded AI Wash & Dry + Enables More Precise, Automatic Optimization

At the core of the all-in-one experience, the 2026 model integrates AI Wash & Dry +,⁶ upgrading the intelligence that supports smart optimization of washing & drying. Using enhanced sensing and AI-based analysis, AI Wash & Dry + uses multiple sensors to optimize performance for each load. It detects the weight to determine the right amount of water and detergent, identifies five fabric types for smaller laundry loads⁷ — including Outdoor and Denim — and monitors soil levels in real time to adjust the cycle for better results with less manual input.

A More Advanced Bixby Brings Natural, Conversational Control to the Home

Samsung is also bringing a more advanced Bixby⁸ experience to the 2026 Bespoke AI Laundry Combo. Bixby has enabled users to monitor and control connected Samsung devices directly from a single appliance,⁹ making it easier to handle everyday routines across the home. While loading laundry, a user could say, “Start the robot vacuum in the living room” or “Turn on the air purifier,” without needing to unlock their phone or leave the laundry area.

Now, with improved understanding capabilities, Bixby goes beyond fixed commands to understand natural, conversational requests. For example, users can simply say, “Can you wash this before 11 p.m.?” or “Start a normal wash, but add an extra rinse,” and Bixby will understand and carry out the request.

Availability

To meet different regional needs and broaden consumer choice, Samsung will roll out the 2026 Bespoke AI Laundry Combo with lineup options that vary by market. In select regions, Samsung will also introduce more affordable model options,¹⁰ expanding availability across price segments while maintaining the core all-in-one convenience. As such, the 2026 Bespoke AI Laundry Combo will roll out in select markets throughout 2026.

What’s New in One UI 9 Beta

One UI 9 beta introduces several updates across key areas of the mobile experience.

Samsung Notes¹ gains creative new tools, including decorative tapes and a wider variety of pen line styles. Meanwhile, the Contacts app now offers direct access to Creative Studio² for creating personalized profile cards without the need to switch between apps.

The updated Quick Panel³ gives users greater control over its layout. Brightness, sound and media player are each independently adjustable, with more size options to suit individual preferences.

Accessibility is significantly improved by an adjustable Mouse Key speed that enables smoother cursor control and a combined TalkBack package that brings together features previously offered separately by Google and Samsung. The new Text Spotlight feature — which displays selected text larger or more clearly in a floating window — has also been added to make reading easier.

One UI 9 also introduces enhanced protection against suspicious apps and potential threats: when new high-risk apps are detected, it now warns users, blocks execution and installation, and recommends deletion through security policy updates.⁴

Availability

The One UI 9 beta program will be available to Galaxy S26 series users in select markets, including Germany, India, Korea, Poland, the U.K. and the U.S starting this week. Galaxy S26 series users can apply to join the beta program via the Samsung Members app.

AI Food Manager: Recognition of More Food Items With Cloud AI

The updated AI Food Manager now significantly expands the range of food items the Family Hub can recognize and track through enhanced AI Vision. Combining with cloud intelligence, the system now identifies more fresh produce and packaged goods⁶ other than its 40 pre-studied items with greater accuracy — including popular branded products and regionally specific ingredients. For packaged goods, Optical Character Recognition (OCR) enables accurate identification of a broader range of branded products across global markets.

Drawing on AI-analyzed usage patterns, the Family Hub also proactively alerts users⁷ when frequently consumed items need to be replenished — simplifying grocery planning and helping to reduce food waste.

Bixby: More Natural and Intelligent Voice Control

The update also introduces a more advanced Bixby, enabling more natural, conversational interactions with the refrigerator. Rather than using specific commands, consumers can speak more conversationally — and Bixby will respond with contextual understanding and take appropriate actions.

This applies to what would normally be considered complex actions prior to this update. With it in place, users can experience interactions such as the following:

Requesting Sphere Ice

• User: “Hi Bixby, make round ice for my drink.”
• Bixby: “Okay, I’m turning on the Sphere Ice mode.”

Asking to Reduce the Internal Temperatures During Hot Weather

• User: “Hi Bixby, make the fridge cooler when it gets hot out.”

Now Brief: A More Personalized Daily Experience

The update expands Now Brief — the Family Hub’s default daily display — to include a richer, tailored set of widgets designed to make the refrigerator screen more useful in everyday home life. These include:

• Trending Recipes: Daily recommended popular recipe videos, which can also be accessed through SmartThings Food.
• FoodNote: Draws on the AI Vision food list⁹ to display the top most frequently used ingredients from the past week and recommends recipes.
• What’s for Today?: Offers menu recommendations through either a random suggestion or a pick based on refrigerator contents, turning the daily question of what to cook into a more engaging, gamified experience.

Users can also receive personalized widget experiences through Voice ID¹⁰ recognition. Once a household member’s voice is identified, Now Brief surfaces tailored content such as upcoming calendar events, emojis, reminders for birthdays/anniversaries, interest-based news and health-connected data like sleep pattern summaries and daily activity updates.

The over-the-network (OTN) update begins rolling out to select Bespoke AI Refrigerator Family Hub models in the U.S. starting May 11. Expansion to the 9-inch AI Home and additional global markets will follow on a phased basis throughout 2026.¹¹

Samsung Newsroom spoke with designers from the Digital Appliances (DA) Business to discuss the evolution of home appliance design and its significance.

Uni-Body Aesthetics for Everyday Living

The Bespoke AI Laundry appliances — demonstrates how home appliances can harmonize within users’ living spaces. By applying the uni-body design across its lineup — including separate washer and dryer units, vertically integrated one-body models and all-in-one combo appliances — it creates a unified design language.

Q. What led to the adoption of a uni-body design across this year’s Bespoke AI washer lineup?

Jinsun Park: Samsung’s uni-body design concept serves as a key strategy for establishing a consistent brand identity across appliances. Regardless of the form factor, users can experience a consistent aesthetic, with the appliances adding to the overall atmosphere as furniture. By removing unnecessary elements, this approach also aligns with Samsung’s ESG vision, improving repairability and extending the product lifespan.

Q. The Bespoke AI Combo features key structural changes. How did you collaborate with the R&D team to incorporate these?

Jinsun Park: The Bespoke AI Combo was designed for users with limited space who cannot accommodate a separate dryer, so we needed to deliver the full performance of a standalone dryer within a compact washer-sized form factor, which made the design very challenging.

When designing the auto dispenser, we worked closely with the R&D team to carefully refine pump placement and assembly structures, securing an additional milliliter of capacity within the densely packed layout.

For the lint filter, we focused on easy front access — even when built into cabinetry — while maintaining Bespoke’s seamless aesthetic by minimizing visible gaps and joints.

After refining the hardware and creating a seamless exterior, the designers shifted their focus to the interface. As appliances become more intelligent and laundry functions more diverse, they aimed to make the user experience simpler and more intuitive.

Q. What was the key consideration when designing the UX for the 7-inch full-touch display?

YoonKyung Kang: The key was to find the right balance between providing more information and maintaining simplicity, as adding more features can make the product harder to use.

To address this, we used 2D and 3D visual elements — including images and animations — so users can intuitively understand the product’s status without prior learning.

Beyond its refined exterior and intuitive usability, the Bespoke AI Laundry appliances extends its innovation to a sustainable production process.

Q. How did applying technologies such as No Spray make a difference in achieving sustainable design?

Seongjun Kim: Adding color to products previously required multiple processes — including spraying, painting and deposition — leading to significant waste and high energy consumption. In response, we adopted film-laminated metal and coil-coated (pre-painted) metal methods, which involve directly printing on steel sheets and applying films. By producing multiple components from a single pre-colored sheet, we significantly streamlined the process and reduced waste.

This approach also delivers more realistic premium metal textures while establishing a sustainable production system that takes both the working environment and safety into account.

Designed To Care for Your Everyday Life

With this Best of the Best recognition, Samsung demonstrated how home appliances can evolve into partners in everyday living — thoughtfully considering users’ daily lives, spaces and the environment.

Samsung Electronics recently installed its glasses-free 3D display, Spatial Signage, at the newly renovated Safari World at Everland, adding a new dimension to the visitor experience. Powered by Samsung’s patented 3D Plate technology, the display delivers striking depth and realism without the need for 3D glasses — all within a slim 52-millimeter profile.

Samsung Newsroom visited Everland to see how Spatial Signage is making the wait more engaging and to hear firsthand how visitors responded to the immersive display.

Spatial Signage Sets the Stage for a Safari Adventure

Even before the safari tour begins, visitors are greeted by animals brought to life on Spatial Signage. The vivid movement and “screen-breaking” three-dimensional effect deepen the sense of immersion, building excitement for the adventure ahead.

“Following Safari World’s reopening as a reimagined ecological space with enhanced animal welfare, we wanted to connect every stage of the guest experience — from entry and waiting lines to the safari bus ride — under a unified theme,” said Jiyeon Bae, Leader of Partnership & Alliance Group, Resort Business Division at Samsung C&T. “We saw Spatial Signage as the most effective way to lead guest into the safari adventure.”

Bae added, “To create the atmosphere of a wild expedition, we installed large-scale animal artwork featuring life-size bears, lions and tigers along the waiting route. Extending that visual experience with Spatial Signage, which gives the animals a vivid dimensionality, allowed us to further enhance visitors’ sense of immersion.”

Despite its large 85-inch size, the display also offers considerable flexibility in installation. “Taking into account the attributes of the waiting area, we created a custom frame that blends seamlessly with Safari World’s atmosphere,” Bae said. “This allowed us to position the display naturally within the queue without disrupting the overall environment.”

“Spatial Signage also plays an important role in building anticipation by giving visitors a preview of the animals they are about to see before boarding the safari bus,” noted Bae. “When young children stop in their tracks after spotting a bear or lion on the screen, their eyes often widen with excitement. It becomes clear that the immersive quality of the content is resonating with guests.”

Turning The Wait Time Into a Fascinating 3D Experience

Visitors on-site responded enthusiastically. In particular, the glasses-free 3D experience changed the mood of the waiting area, making it feel like more than just a place to stand in line. Rather than simply watching the screen, they interacted with the animals, took photos and treated the wait itself as part of the fun.

One visitor who came to Everland with family said, “It felt as if real animals were moving right in front of us. Taking photos with the kids while we waited made the time fly by.” The visitor added, “Seeing the children get excited even before meeting the real animals has made the trip especially worthwhile.” Students visiting on a field trip were equally impressed. “I thought you needed glasses to see 3D, but the tiger looked so real when it seemed to break out of the screen that it genuinely surprised me,” said one student.

“Seeing the wild animals we are about to meet truly built the anticipation for the safari,” said a couple waiting in the queue together. “It feels like we have already stepped into the safari before even getting on the bus.” A group of tourists visiting Korea also shared their impressions: “The tigers, lions, and bears look so vividly real, as if alive. It makes the wait so much more enjoyable and helps lift spirits before entering the safari adventure.”

Where Technology Meets Space — A New Spatial Interface

“Spatial Signage goes beyond simply delivering information — it serves as a spatial interface that enables visitors to directly experience the place they are visiting,” said SeungHyuk Jin, CEO of Klleon, which led the content development for Spatial Signage at Safari World. “We focused on capturing the natural movement of the animals and creating a sense of spatial depth so visitors are immediately immersed in the world of safari while waiting in line.”

At Everland’s Safari World, Samsung Spatial Signage helps shape the identity of the space and adds a new layer of immersion to the visitor journey. With innovations like Spatial Signage, Samsung continues to set the standard for immersive and engaging display experiences across industries.

Embodying this human-centered design approach, “Expressive Design”, Samsung Electronics achieved a remarkable milestone at the globally renowned Red Dot Design Award 2026, with all 16 of its submitted entries¹ recognized.

Samsung Newsroom sat down with designers from the Visual Display (VD) Business to hear the stories behind their design philosophy and innovation.

OLED TV S95H: A New Direction in TV Design

The OLED TV S95H received the Best of the Best award in the Product Design category, taking the long-standing paradigm of minimalist TV design in a new direction — one defined by presenting only what is necessary and boldly revealing its structure to create a framed, art-like object with a screen that appears to float.

Q. The S95H moves beyond the conventional bezel-less design to emphasize its presence as a design object. What inspired this paradigm shift?

Cho: Bezel-less designs have become the norm in today’s TV market, and it is increasingly difficult for brands to express a distinct identity. Beyond ultra-slim form factors, we believed it was time to rethink what a TV means in living spaces.

As TVs become larger, their presence within a space continues to grow. We believed it was important for the TV to blend naturally into the space, much like furniture or a lifestyle object. By incorporating various colors and materials into the frame, we developed designs that enable users to reflect their personal tastes.

Q. The FloatLayer design — where the front panel appears to float in front of a metal frame — stands out. What kind of experience were you ultimately aiming to deliver through this design?

Cho: Our goal was to add both the atmosphere of the space and viewing immersion. We boldly exposed the metal plate to soften the contrast between the screen and its surroundings so that the product can seamlessly blend into its environment like it’s part of the interior. We also separated the screen and frame into different layers to create a more immersive experience. The screen layer highlights the OLED technology and picture quality of the S95H, while the frame layer helps the product integrate naturally into the living space.

Breaking away from the conventional approach of eliminating the surrounding bezel, the design instead layers two contrasting materials to maximize visual impact. By prioritizing harmony with the surrounding space, the designers were able to create the S95H’s distinctive structure.

The S95H does not stop at a fixed sense of beauty. It allows users to express their personal taste through customizable elements integrated into its exterior.

Q. The customized decorative frames and art pattern on the back of the TV are also impressive. Where did these ideas begin?

Lee: We wanted to reflect users’ diverse interior preferences directly in the product — from wood tones and white tones to colorful styles. To achieve this, we applied an assembly structure that allows users to attach and detach decorative frames magnetically, with additional frame options available separately in various colors and materials to reflect their lifestyle.

For the TV’s rear pattern, we used precision molding technology to arrange small cells in a random pattern, creating a surface with a texture that subtly changes depending on the light and viewing angle. This allows users to experience a new sense of detail every time they use the TV.

Q. Users have a growing preference for zero-gap wall mounting. How have you responded to this?

Lee: No matter how beautifully a TV is designed to resemble a piece of art, it can lose its appeal and sense of immersion if it protrudes from the wall.

Essential elements required for operation — like sound holes and vent holes — were carefully integrated between the display and the frame, allowing them to remain out of the users’ line of sight while fully maintaining their functionality. With this approach, the TV fits closely against the wall, creating a clean, gallery-like composition — as if a framed piece of art were hanging in the space.

Where Design, Sound and Usability Converge

Beyond its elegant design, The S95H delivers three-dimensional, immersive audio through the gap between the screen and the metal plate, creating a deeply immersive listening experience. Moreover, the Wireless One Connect solution minimizes complex cable connections to maintain a clean, refined look while ensuring reliable wireless use even over long distances.

TVs Designed for Any Space

Building on this achievement, TVs should evolve into lifestyle objects that reflect diverse user preferences and blend into any space. While delivering optimal viewing, the goal is to create harmonious aesthetics that allow users to express their personal style through design.

Looking ahead, Samsung will continue to advance its human-centered Expressive Design approach to reshape homes and everyday lives.

In response, Samsung asked a simple question — can anyone create Hollywood-style videos on a Galaxy mobile phone? The answer is the Cinematic Look-Up Table (Cine LUT) feature on the Galaxy S26 series. While the APV codec provides the foundation for cinema-quality video, Cine LUT brings a distinct color style to the footage.

Cine LUT makes professional-level color grading — once reserved for experts — accessible to anyone. Samsung collaborated with internal teams and external specialists to bring the feature to life. The Mobile eXperience (MX) Business led final camera implementation, Samsung Research developed core video processing technologies and U5K Imageworks — a colorist studio behind globally recognized productions — helped shape its visual aesthetic.

Following the introduction of the APV codec, which delivers a visually lossless level of image quality, Samsung Newsroom spoke with three key developers behind Cine LUT — Sugon Baek of the Camera Image Quality R&D Group at the MX Business, Bomi Kim of the Reality Media Lab at Samsung Research and Taesik Eom, CEO of U5K Imageworks — to hear the story of its creation.

Q. What is a LUT? What sets Cine LUT on the Galaxy S26 series apart?

Baek: A LUT is essentially a “map” that transforms one set of colors into a desired look. Unlike conventional filters that simply overlay color, Cine LUT reinterprets Samsung Log¹ footage to deliver the depth and look of professional filmmaking.

Kim: It’s optimized for Log video. By leveraging its wide gradation,² the feature precisely reconstructs color and brightness to preserve subtle tonal details often lost with conventional filters for richer, more natural depth.

Q. What led to the development of Cine LUT?

Kim: While Galaxy devices supported Log video for high-quality capture, color grading remained challenging for users. We aimed to make professional-looking results accessible without advanced editing skills.

Baek: We wanted to create an experience that lets users preview cinematic footage at the moment of capture, then apply a LUT and share the video with a single tap in the Gallery.

Q. How did the collaboration with U5K Imageworks begin? How was Cine LUT developed?

Eom: Our collaboration began two years ago with Rec. 709 LUT advisory work for Samsung Log video, where we refined strong colors into more natural tones — an experience that led to Cine LUT. For this project, we developed multiple versions across three intensity levels — neutral, soft and strong — and tested them in diverse scenes, ultimately selecting four core styles.

Kim: Building on U5K’s color direction, we validated the concepts against quantitative criteria to ensure consistent performance in different environments, refining them through testing until creative intent and technical quality aligned.

Q. What challenges did you face during development?

Kim: We needed a large dataset to validate performance across diverse conditions. Testing in real-world environments — from natural and indoor lighting to day and night — and close collaboration were key to capturing the nuances of color.

Baek: Maintaining consistent, undistorted color in different environments was challenging. Through continuous testing, we developed a LUT that balances subjective preference with objective quality.

Q. What was the key consideration in creating looks optimized for mobile phones?

Eom: Ensuring reliable performance in real-world conditions was key. Since lighting, exposure and white balance constantly vary, we focused on creating looks that remain natural in any situation.

Kim: Quality was our top priority. We analyzed each frame and validated performance using tools like color charts, gray balance and vector scopes.

Q. Why were these four styles chosen for the Galaxy S26 series?

Baek: We analyzed the visual language of popular film genres and identified four representative styles. From the high-contrast Blockbuster to the fresh Coming-of-age, warm Romance and moody Thriller, each color palette was designed to give everyday scenes an instant cinematic look.

Q. Which Cine LUT styles do you recommend for different situations?

Eom: There’s no fixed answer — it depends on the situation. Blockbuster suits high-contrast environments like outdoor and urban scenes; Coming-of-age fits soft, trendy settings like cafes or vlogs; Romance adds warmth to character-driven scenes; and Thriller creates a more striking impression.

Q. What stood out to you in user feedback?

Baek: We expected it might be seen as just another video effect, but the response exceeded expectations. Users quickly recognized that combining Log shooting with Cine LUTs expands creative possibilities beyond simple filters. We’re also seeing more users choose styles based on the scene, with high-quality videos widely shared on social media — and even inspiring new ways to create content.

Q. What are your plans for the future?

Baek: We aim to further establish the Galaxy S26 series as a professional-grade camera. We hope to see more content that resonates with both creators and viewers and will continue to set new standards in video creation.

Kim: As the world changes rapidly, our goal is to identify next-generation technologies. Through close collaboration with business divisions, we will work to bring them into products and deliver innovative experiences to users around the world.

Born from close collaboration, Cine LUT on the Galaxy S26 series transforms everyday moments into cinematic visuals. Beyond its technical achievements, the feature marks an important step toward making video creation more accessible — lowering barriers once reserved for professionals and enabling anyone to express themselves.

Heesub Han, a commercial and documentary director, shot a series of short films on Galaxy S26 Ultra using the APV codec and Samsung Log. Explore the videos below to discover the possibilities of Cine LUT through the making-of and short films.

1. A technique that uses a logarithmic curve to expand detail in darker areas. While camera sensors capture brightness uniformly, the human eye is more sensitive to changes in shadows. Log helps footage better reflect natural perception. ︎
2. The smoothness and precision of tonal transitions in an image — how it shifts between light and dark. ︎

Vasovagal syncope occurs when a person’s heart rate and blood pressure drop abruptly due to factors like excessive stress, leading to a temporary loss of consciousness. While the fainting spell itself is typically not life-threatening, sudden falls can cause severe secondary injuries like fractures or concussions, making early prediction critically important for prevention.

“Up to 40% of people experience vasovagal syncope over their lifetime, with one-third experiencing recurrent episodes,” said Professor Junhwan Cho of the Department of Cardiology at Chung-Ang University Gwangmyeong Hospital. “An early warning could give patients advance time to get into a safe position or call for help, which would dramatically reduce the incidence of secondary injuries.”

The joint research team, led by Professor Cho, conducted evaluations on 132 patients with suspected VVS symptoms during induced fainting tests. Using a Galaxy Watch equipped with a photoplethysmography (PPG) sensor, the team analyzed the watch’s heart rate variability (HRV) data with an AI algorithm. The model successfully predicted impending fainting episodes up to five minutes in advance with 84.6 percent accuracy, at a clinically meaningful sensitivity of 90 percent and a specificity of 64 percent.

“This study is an example of how wearable technology can help shift healthcare from being designed for ‘post-care’ to a model of ‘preventive care,’” said Jongmin Choi, Head of Health R&D Group, Mobile eXperience (MX) Business, Samsung Electronics. “We are committed to driving technological innovation that empowers our users to lead healthier everyday lives.”

The research findings were published in Volume 7, Issue 4 of “European Heart Journal – Digital Health,” a leading medical journal and they represent the world’s first study to successfully demonstrate the potential for a commercial smartwatch to provide early prediction of syncope.

Samsung plans to further advance the health monitoring capabilities of its wearable portfolio and expand collaboration with leading medical institutions. Through these efforts, the company aims to lead the digital health industry and accelerate the implementation of personalized, preventive health solutions.

Power Class (PC) is a 3GPP^TM1 standard that defines how strongly a device can transmit its signal, with a lower-class number indicating a higher output power. Higher power is critical for improving signal quality and extending network reach, especially useful in harder-to-reach areas. At the same time, the rise of data- and time-intensive services like physical AI, autonomous systems and AR/VR is driving a surge in upload demand. PC1 is expected to be a key factor in elevating the FWA user experience by offering fiber-like uplink speeds and reducing bottlenecks, which will support the demands of evolving technologies and next-generation AI services.

The test was completed at Samsung’s R&D lab using its fully software-driven vRAN solution, 3.7GHz Massive MIMO radios and Qualcomm Technologies’ X85 chipset-equipped test device. Key technical findings include:

• Up to 10x Uplink Throughput Enhancement: During the lab test, the application of PC1 technology achieved up to 10 times higher uplink throughput at the cell-edge compared to PC1.5 standard. For users, this means smoother video calls and faster file upload in areas where signals are typically weakest, like remote regions or isolated corners of buildings.

• 1.4x Coverage Expansion: In addition to performance improvements, PC1 is capable of extending the coverage range by up to 40% more compared to PC1.5. This allows individual devices to stay connected across a much wider area, maintaining strong signals even when farther away from a base station.

The Company posted KRW 133.9 trillion in consolidated revenue, an all-time quarterly high, representing a quarter-on-quarter (QoQ) increase of 43%. Operating profit was also an all-time high, increasing to KRW 57.2 trillion.

The Device Solutions (DS) Division posted a QoQ sales increase of 86%, with the Memory Business setting an all-time high for quarterly revenue and operating profit as a result of technological leadership in the memory market, as well as higher average selling price (ASP).

The Device eXperience (DX) Division posted a QoQ sales increase of 19%, supported by the launch of new flagship smartphones. Despite higher cost pressures, the Division expanded the sales of high-value-added products across businesses to preserve profitability.

The DS Division posted KRW 81.7 trillion in consolidated revenue and KRW 53.7 trillion in operating profit for the first quarter.

The Memory Business surpassed its quarterly sales record by addressing high-value-added AI demand despite limited supply availability, with industry-wide memory price increases also a contributing factor.

Additionally, the Business led the memory market by utilizing its differentiated technology leadership. This included initiating the industry’s first mass product sales of HBM4 and SOCAMM2 for NVIDIA’s Vera Rubin platform, as well as the timely development of PCIe Gen6 SSDs.

In Q2 2026, the Memory Business anticipates demand to remain strong amid AI infrastructure expansion and is scheduled to deliver its first HBM4E samples to solidify technical leadership. The Business also aims to proactively capitalize on early demand for new GPUs and CPUs to be launched in the second half of 2026 and plans to continue its AI product-centric sales strategy for both DRAM and NAND.

In H2 2026, the Company expects server memory demand to remain strong as hyperscalers accommodate enterprises’ increasing adoption of AI and LLM services. Additionally, agentic AI is expected to accelerate growth in demand.

The Memory Business also seeks to spearhead the AI memory market based on technology competitiveness by continuing to expand its share of high-value-added AI products like DDR5, SOCAMM2 and others. At the same time, the Business plans to lead the initial PCIe Gen6 eSSD market with high-performance products focused on KV cache storage demand.

Earnings at the System LSI Business improved on the back of expanded SoC sales.

In Q2 2026, the System LSI Business aims to increase sales of SoCs and sensors for volume-tier smartphones.

In H2 2026, the Business plans to secure flagship SoC design wins and expand its 200MP sensor customer base and product lineup.

Earnings for the Foundry Business declined as a result of off-peak seasonality. However, it continued to maintain design wins focused on HPCs and established a foundation in the silicon photonics business.

In Q2 2026, the Business plans to reach full utilization of advanced-node production lines while targeting earnings improvement on increased HBM4 base-die supply. Development of the 1.4nm node remains on track, with the Business also pursuing the expansion of large-scale 2nm customers.

Looking ahead to H2 2026, the Foundry Business plans to start ramping up production of the second-generation 2nm process for mobile products, as well as the mass production of 4nm memory products and LPUs for AI and HPC customers. Furthermore, it aims to diversify its portfolio to include not just AI and HPC, but also the automotive and aerospace industries.

SDC To Build on Strengths in Differentiated Technologies and Premium Products

Samsung Display Corporation (SDC) posted KRW 6.7 trillion in consolidated revenue and KRW 0.4 trillion in operating profit for the first quarter.

For the small and medium display business, SDC reported a decline in earnings due to seasonal effects and the impact of higher memory prices, while its large display business maintained stable sales on robust demand for OLED gaming monitors.

In Q2 2026, SDC’s small and medium display business will focus on sales in the relatively resilient high-end segment despite overall weak market demand, and its large display business aims to capture demand supported by new product launches and the impact of global sporting events.  

In H2 2026, SDC expects continued market uncertainty and low visibility in small and medium displays, and it will pursue higher revenues via premium products with differentiated technology as well as 8.6G IT OLED mass production. In large displays, it intends to solidify its position in the premium TV market while expanding its customer base in monitors.  

MX To Secure Revenue Expansion With Diverse Product Mix

The MX and Networks Businesses posted KRW 38.1 trillion in consolidated revenue and KRW 2.8 trillion in operating profit for the first quarter.

The MX Business saw sales and profit increase as a result of its premium product mix, securing single-digit profitability via proactive cost optimization. 

In Q2 2026, amid diminishing launch effects, QoQ revenue is expected to decline. However, the MX Business will drive year-on-year (YoY) revenue growth via flagship sales and new A-series devices.

In H2 2026, the MX Business plans to pursue comprehensive growth by solidifying flagship-led sales and upselling initiatives while staying ahead of evolving customer needs by strengthening the product development of foldables. It will also pursue efficiency initiatives to mitigate the impact of rising cost pressures on profitability.

In Q1 2026, the Networks Business experienced a decline in earnings QoQ and YoY as it faced investment headwinds in the telecommunications industry. In Q2 2026, it intends to improve earnings via overseas sales expansion. Looking to H2 2026, the Business plans to capitalize on leadership in vRAN, ORAN and AI-RAN to capture new markets while securing profitability through structural cost discipline.

CE Business and Harman to Further Advance Product Lineups and AI Functionality

The Visual Display (VD) and Digital Appliances (DA) Businesses posted KRW 14.3 trillion in consolidated revenue and KRW 0.2 trillion in operating profit in the first quarter.

The VD Business saw improved profitability through solid sales of premium and big-size TVs as well as resource optimization.

In Q2 2026, the VD Business will target increased revenue by capturing sporting-event-driven demand with a strengthened product lineup. In H2 2026, it intends to solidify TV sales leadership via AI features while accelerating service and OS business expansion.

Meanwhile, the DA Business experienced a limited improvement to earnings in Q1 2026 amid cost pressures and tariffs. In Q2 2026, it will drive revenue growth through a new premium lineup and a recovery in demand for air conditioners. In H2 2026, the Business aims to implement cost efficiency initiatives while driving premium sales.

Harman posted an earnings decline in Q1 2026 due to increased expenses amid memory constraints and audio seasonality. In Q2 2026, it expects earnings to grow on increased auto supply, and in H2 2026, it will seek to maintain profitable momentum through increased automotive supply and premium audio sales.

Samsung Electronics has partnered with the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam to present a curated selection from its modern and contemporary collection on Samsung Art Store.

The Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam is known for its association with movements such as De Stijl and for its focus on modern art and design. The S95H stands out for its distinctive FloatLayer design, which combines an ultra-thin OLED display with a luxurious metal plate to create a layered concept in which a slim OLED screen is placed over a bold metallic surface.

The result is a new category of premium art frame design that makes the OLED screen appear as if it is floating in front of the metallic silver frame, confidently highlighting the presence of metal and producing a striking visual effect. Meanwhile, the Bespoke AI Laundry appliances applies a mono-body design concept across a range of types, including standalone washing machines, dryers and combos. Additionally, Smart Screen — the large 7-inch LCD screen — enhances usability by providing an intuitive and simplified control experience. Samsung Electronics today announced the global launch of the 32-inch Samsung Spatial Signage (SMHX model), adding a compact format to its glasses-free 3D commercial display lineup. Designed for narrow shelves and counters, it gives brands a flexible way to present product-focused content in full 3D rotation.¹

Smaller Format, Bigger Impact at Shelf Level

The 32-inch model follows the global rollout of the 85-inch Spatial Signage earlier this year. While the 85-inch model is designed for large, high-impact retail installations with life-size product visuals, the 32-inch model brings the same glasses-free 3D experience to shelves, counters and other compact spaces.

Suited for a wide range of environments, including retail, public spaces, entertainment venues, education and hospitality, the smaller format brings immersive 3D content to places where close-up visibility matters most. The 32-inch Spatial Signage helps highlight featured products, promotional content, exhibit information, campus messaging and other high-impact content.

Spatial Signage uses Samsung’s patented 3D Plate technology, which applies binocular parallax to deliver different images to each eye, creating cinematic depth without 3D glasses. It retains full clarity while showing all sides of a product in realistic 360-degree rotation.

Weighing just 8.5 kg with a sleek 49.4 mm slim profile, the 32-inch model features FHD resolution (1,080 x 1,920) in a 9:16 portrait format. Unlike bulky box-type 3D displays, it is lightweight, easy to install and compatible with industry-standard VESA wall mounts for wall or stand placement, much like conventional signage.²

Spatial Signage has earned industry recognition, including a CES 2026 Innovation Award in the Enterprise Tech category and a Silver award at the Edison Awards. Going forward, Samsung plans to further expand the Spatial Signage lineup with new sizes, including a 55-inch model.

More Control and Creativity With Samsung VXT

Samsung also announced new updates to Samsung VXT, its cloud-based digital signage platform.³ The update brings new capabilities to Samsung’s full digital signage portfolio,⁴ including Spatial Signage. Businesses can use VXT to manage connected screens across multiple locations, schedule and automate content delivery and create signage-ready video content directly within the platform.

To further enhance remote management, Samsung has added scheduling capabilities to screen presets, allowing screen settings such as brightness, volume and on/off timers to be applied across connected displays at a designated time or according to a set schedule, including outside operating hours. VXT also includes Smart Download, which helps minimize network traffic load by enabling content to be downloaded by some screens and shared with other connected screens on the same network.⁵

Released earlier this month, AI Studio app enables users to create signage-ready videos from a single product image and a text prompt, with an option to upscale output to 4K UHD resolution at 60 frames per second. The app also includes an option to optimize content for Spatial Signage to enhance the overall 3D viewing experience.

Samsung VXT has also expanded its content management capabilities with the following features:

• Event now includes automated content transitions, adding new event types, like weather conditions. This allows businesses to automatically display content based on real-world weather conditions.⁶ For example, signage can promote rain gear in wet weather and switch to sun hats in sunny conditions, allowing businesses to manage content more dynamically across different scenarios.
• Multiple Takeover enables synchronized content transitions across all linked screens based on a preset schedule and playback cycle, allowing centralized control over large-scale content campaigns.
• Streaming Widget enables real-time streaming of live broadcast content directly on connected displays, with support for closed caption settings.

These recognitions reflect the impact of Samsung’s efforts to reverse the decline of coral reefs in partnership with U.S.-based nonprofit organization Seatrees and the Scripps Institution of Oceanography at the University of California San Diego. By bringing together Galaxy’s advanced image capturing capabilities, Seatrees’ community-driven restoration model and Scripps’ knowledge on marine science, Samsung is transforming Galaxy mobile phones into powerful tools for ocean conservation.

Coral reefs cover less than 1% of the ocean floor yet support approximately 25% of all marine life and sustain millions of livelihoods worldwide.² Without intervention, many reefs are at risk of disappearing by 2050 due to climate change, pollution and overfishing.

To help address this challenge, Samsung collaborated with Seatrees and Scripps to advance coral reef restoration across a growing network of sites in Costa Rica, Fiji, the Galápagos Islands, Indonesia and the United States.

Through the “Samsung x Seatrees: Bring Coral in Focus” initiative, partners and local communities are given Ocean Mode-equipped Galaxy devices and underwater housings to capture high-quality underwater imagery with Ocean Mode, which is then used to generate detailed 3D photogrammetric models. This process improves how coral reefs are monitored and evaluated, resulting in critical insight into reef health and recovery.

Together, Samsung, Seatrees and Scripps have driven meaningful impact across restoration sites. To date, more than 20,000 coral fragments have been planted, and over 80 3D reef models have been built to support monitoring and research efforts.

Now available through Expert RAW,³ Ocean Mode extends these capabilities to Galaxy users, making advanced underwater imaging⁴ available to more people while reducing reliance on expensive, heavy DSLR equipment. This increased accessibility is critical to scaling coral reef monitoring efforts, particularly in regions where resources and technical infrastructure may be limited.

Upon entry, The Welcome Show engages visitors with a synchronized performance across multiple devices — each paired with its own screen — reflecting Samsung’s AI vision. The journey continues with Unfold Your Story, where an expressive spectrum of color across Samsung’s foldables illustrate diverse lifestyles and individual identities.

In the Wearable Intelligence and Culinary Intelligence zones, the company highlights concepts supporting physical and emotional well-being — from wearables to AI-powered culinary experiences.

At the center of the exhibition, The Forum hosts discussions alongside video clips highlighting the perspectives of Samsung’s design leaders. Nearby, the XR Experience zone — powered by Android XR — invites visitors to expand their world through Galaxy XR.

The exhibition then unfolds into two contrasting audio-visual zones. Transparent Symphony features Samsung’s transparent Micro LED displays, dissolving physical boundaries and blending seamlessly into the environment.

All That Music brings together speakers, screens and audio-visual concepts — including Music Studio 5 and 7 — where sound and visuals come together in harmony, evoking a sense of analog emotion. Across both spaces, a full spectrum of design languages emerges — from minimal and refined to bold, iconic and colorful — each offering a different interpretation of Expressive Design, reflecting the diversity of the people Samsung designs for.

In both environments, AI generates content that adapts to the space, the music and the moment, offering everything from immersive atmospheres to information, and even the presence of a companion behind the scenes.

In Two Expressions of the Same Technology, two design archetypes of a 130-inch Micro RGB display are presented. Built on the same breakthrough technology, they show how performance and individuality can coexist.

Artful Living, conceived like a gallery, features the S95H OLED TV with Music Frame+. Here, screens bring art and content to life as storytellers of personality, meaning and emotion. Beyond the screen, customizable frames can transform the TV to adapt to different homes, tastes and interior styles — celebrating the beauty of one of the thinnest OLED displays on the market and enhancing its floating, artistic presence.

In A Glimpse of Tomorrow, visitors explore a future shaped by design and technology. The zone reflects Samsung’s human-centered design approach, offering a sense of what lies ahead.

The experience concludes with The Goodbye Show, where Project Luna AI home device greets visitors one last time. This short, emotional yet playful finale — light, colorful and unapologetically pop — doesn’t take itself too seriously. Technology That Complements the Experience

In hospitality, technology works best when it feels like a natural extension of the stay. At The Apurva Kempinski Bali, Samsung Hospitality TVs add a modern digital layer to an experience defined by warmth and detail.

“Working with Samsung has been an outstanding experience,” said Zakaria. “From consultation and technical setup to post-installation support, every step was guided with clarity and care.”

A snorkeling trip as a teenager off the island of Nusa Penida in Indonesia changed everything for Brigitta Gunawan. The reef was dense with life, fish weaving through coral in extraordinary colors. It was like nothing she had ever seen. Back on shore, one thought stayed with her: most people would never experience this.

Brigitta grew up in Jakarta, an inland industrial city far from reefs, but had always felt drawn to the water. She even took her first steps on a beach in Bali. After a snorkeling trip to Nusa Penida, that connection became something else: a sense of responsibility.

According to the UN Environment Programme (UNEP), warming oceans, pollution and overfishing have put coral reefs on a devastating trajectory, with up to 90% projected to disappear by 2050. Coral reefs, found in more than 100 countries, are among the most important ecosystems in the ocean — supporting marine life, protecting coastlines and sustaining the communities that depend on them. Globally, more than one billion people depend on healthy oceans for their livelihoods.

“We’re going to lose so much in such a short amount of time,” Brigitta says. “I decided that there’s something that I can do.”

Turning a Hashtag Into a Movement

In 2021, at 17, she launched 30×30 Indonesia, named after the global effort to protect 30% of the ocean by 2030. The target, backed by the UN’s Global Goals for climate action (Goal 13) and life below water (Goal 14), is seen as critical to preserving marine ecosystems. She began simply, with a hashtag and a call for people to submit photos holding signs of support. In the first month, over 400 photos poured in, many from schools and youth groups who had never heard of the 2030 target before.

“I had absolutely no experience,” Brigitta says, crediting early mentors. “I just enjoyed going out there and slowly building what it is today.”

Soon, Brigitta expanded beyond social media. Working with a local diving community and village leaders in northeast Bali, she helped design and build a coral garden on the ocean floor — an artificial structure where coral fragments are planted to help degraded reefs recover, even as oceans continue to warm. Over the past five years, her team has planted over 1,400 coral fragments, with a survival rate of up to 86%.

Technology Bringing the Ocean to Everyone

As her coral restoration work grew, a deeper challenge nagged at Brigitta: most people would never set foot in the sea, let alone see a reef in person. “It’s important for people to see the ocean so that they know why we have to save it,” she says.

In 2024, she launched Diverseas, a free education program that uses 360-degree underwater filming to bring reefs into classrooms, supporting the UN’s Global Goal for quality education (Goal 4). Brigitta partners with grassroots conservation organizations worldwide to capture footage. Students slip on headsets and suddenly find themselves beneath the surface, surrounded by coral and other marine life.

Students who live inland have never seen these underwater scenes; by fostering ocean literacy, Brigitta is calling for collective action to protect biodiversity.

Diverseas has since reached more than 20,000 people across 12 countries through workshops, online courses, diver training scholarships, conferences and events. Its focus on immersive ocean literacy makes the undersea world feel real, and worth protecting.

For Brigitta, the goal now is to reach more communities around the world and to continue restoring reefs across Indonesia.

The Next Wave of Ocean Advocates

In coral reef restoration, where the numbers on reef loss can feel overwhelming, Brigitta believes staying optimistic is essential. “For young people, giving up is not an option,” she says. “We have to remain hopeful.”

And the best place to build that hope? The classroom, both physical and virtual. “I believe education is so powerful,” she says. “If you do it right, you inspire young people who become the policymakers of the future.”

Rethinking 3D Displays With Metasurfaces

A metasurface lenticular lens-based switchable 2D/3D display uses an ultra-thin metalens¹ composed of nanoscale structures to transition seamlessly between flat (2D) and stereoscopic (3D) images.

A metasurface is significantly thinner while enabling complex optical functions — making it key to next-generation displays and camera systems.

This approach advances Light Field Display by directing light from multiple angles to create a glasses-free 3D experience that mimics real-world perception.

Though long considered promising for entertainment, augmented reality (AR) and medical imaging, conventional Light Field Displays face commercialization challenges, including bulky optics, narrow viewing angles (around 15 degrees), reduced resolution and reliance on real-time eye tracking.

The research team addressed these limitations using polarization — the direction in which light oscillates — to design a metasurface lenticular lens (MLL) that dynamically adjusts focal properties.

Switching Between 2D and 3D

The study is the first to demonstrate a meta-optical system capable of switching between 2D and 3D modes in a single device using voltage control. For end users, it’s a breakthrough that could eventually enable them to choose between high-resolution 2D for everyday tasks and immersive, multi-view 3D for video.

The system switches the metalens between concave and convex modes depending on the polarization controller in front of the display. For 2D viewing — such as reading or browsing — the metalens acts as a concave lens (controller on), offsetting the convex lens and allowing light to pass straight through like a flat pane of glass to produce a clear image.

For 3D content, the metalens becomes convex when the controller is off and works with the existing lens to enhance depth and widen the viewing angle. Through this, it can provide both the clarity of 2D and the depth of 3D simultaneously.

Thinner Design, Wider Viewing Angles

A major achievement of this research is the dramatic improvement in both thickness and viewing angle. Traditionally, high image quality and a wide viewing angle required large, thick lenses. The team’s MLL, however, features a high numerical aperture (NA)² — enabling an ultra-thin profile of 1.2 mm and an ultra-wide viewing angle of up to 100 degrees. This represents more than a sixfold increase from the conventional 15-degree viewing angle, allowing multiple viewers to experience 3D content from different positions. It also demonstrates how nanoscale design can overcome the limitations of bulky optical systems.

A Step Closer to Commercialization

Beyond a simple proof of concept, the research demonstrates the practical viability of integrating metalens technology into real-world devices. The team fabricated a large-area metalens measuring 50 × 50 mm (25 cm²) and validated its use on OLED panels widely used in mobile devices.

This research was conducted in collaboration with the Visual Technology Team at Samsung Research, Samsung Electronics, and the POSTECH Nanoscale Photonics & Integrated Manufacturing Laboratory.

Looking ahead, this technology has the potential to reshape next-generation displays across smartphones, tablets and commercial systems.

From optical design and fabrication to real-time switching validation, Samsung and POSTECH have broken through a technological barrier. With the publication in Nature, Samsung further strengthens its leadership in meta-optics and next-generation display technologies.

The collection includes some of Lempicka’s most celebrated pieces such as the iconic “Autoportrait” (1929), a self-portrait painted in Paris and commissioned by the German fashion magazine Die Dame to celebrate women’s independence. Also featured is “St. Moritz,” a sharply composed portrait showcasing her distinctive, highly stylized approach. A selection of still lifes further highlights the breadth of her practice, demonstrating her versatility across subjects while maintaining a cohesive visual identity.

Samsung Electronics today unveiled three new kitchen appliances — the Bespoke AI Single 1Door Fridge & Freezer, Bespoke AI Dishwasher and Extractor Induction Hob. Developed under a design philosophy that prioritizes seamless integration and intelligent performance, the lineup brings enhancements across cooling, cooking, ventilation and dish care.

“With this lineup, we’re strengthening Samsung’s position in the premium kitchen by combining seamless design with purposeful intelligence,” said Hyoung Min Park, VP and Head of the Customer Experience Team for the Digital Appliances (DA) Business at Samsung Electronics. “From AI-driven cooling to adaptive dish care and integrated extraction, these appliances are engineered to respond to real usage patterns, helping people create kitchens that are both refined and responsive.”

Precision Cooling and Seamless Access for Modern Kitchens

Bespoke AI Single 1Door Fridge & Freezer offer flexible options to suit different storage needs. The two units can be used together as a coordinated pair or selected individually to expand refrigeration or freezing capacity as required.

They also emphasize usability and seamless design integration. Auto Open Door provides effortless access with a light touch.¹ A built-in touch sensor enables smooth opening, supported by a sensor light for improved visibility and an alert sound when activated. The refrigerator maintains a seamless, flat-front appearance without a handle that naturally aligns with surrounding cabinetry.

Additionally, the fridge introduces enhanced cooling functionality designed to improve freshness management. AI Precise Cooling on the SmartThings App² automatically adjusts the defrost cycle to help maintain consistent internal conditions. The system analyzes usage patterns and schedules defrosting to run when the doors are not opened frequently,³ helping reduce temperature fluctuations and preserve taste, texture and freshness of food over time.

Further, Metal Cooling independently supports temperature stability by retaining cold air and restoring internal temperatures more quickly after the door is opened. Compared with conventional models that have featured a half-sized metal duct on the rear wall, the new model incorporates a full metal duct design across both the rear wall and the door surface.⁴ This expanded structure lowers temperature changes and supports more stable cooling performance.

Energy Efficient Dishwashers With Intelligent Cleaning Performance

The Bespoke AI Dishwasher lineup is designed to address varying energy standards and lifestyle needs across global markets. The range includes A-20%,⁵ A-10%,⁶ A and even B-Grade models in Europe.⁷ For models with the extra energy savings than the Grade A energy rating, an Active Fan Dry system⁸ improves drying efficiency by enhancing internal air circulation and lowering rinse water temperature to reduce heating⁹ demand.

To accommodate different kitchen layouts, the product is available in Fully Built-In, Free-Standing, Semi Built-In and Built-Under types,¹⁰ supporting both integrated cabinetry environments and more traditional kitchen configurations. This enables flexible deployment according to regional requirements and consumer priorities.

Cleaning performance is driven by AI Wash,¹¹ which uses a high-resolution turbidity sensor and machine learning algorithm to measure food particles at each stage of the cycle. Based on this analysis, the system automatically adjusts washing and rinsing times to effectively remove stubborn residue — without the need for pre-rinsing.

The upgraded,¹² space-saving 3rd Rack Washing System further enhances flexibility by providing dedicated zones for cutlery, utensils and drinkware. The drinkware section accommodates up to six cups and is supported by six spinning nozzles for targeted spray coverage. This configuration improves loading efficiency and frees up space in other racks,¹³ enabling better overall organization.

Durable Surface and High-Efficiency Ventilation in One Integrated Appliance

The Extractor Induction Hob integrates the induction cooktop and extractor hood into a single appliance. This makes it particularly suitable for open-plan kitchens and island installations where installing a conventional hood may be challenging. By capturing steam and odors¹⁴ at the source, it helps maintain cleaner air while preserving the openness of modern kitchen spaces.

Even with cooking and ventilation combined in a single unit, it preserves the distinct performance strengths of both functions. Its cooking surface incorporates Samsung’s Anti-Scratch Glass with a Mohs hardness rating of 8,¹⁵ helping resist visible scratches¹⁶ that arise during everyday use. A superhydrophobic coating reduces residue buildup to support easier cleaning, while the matte finish reinforces a refined, modern aesthetic suited to contemporary interiors.

Beyond surface durability, cooking flexibility is also enhanced by Flex Zone Plus, a wide, open cooking area designed to accommodate multiple or larger cookware at the same time. Featuring denser heating¹⁷ elements for more even heat distribution, it supports a variety of cookware shapes and sizes, including longer or oversized dishes.¹⁸ The surface automatically detects¹⁹ the position and size of cookware to activate heating precisely where needed, helping ensure consistent cooking performance.

Ventilation performance is equally impressive. In Boost mode, suction of up to 720 m³/h²⁰ effectively captures steam, smoke and odors at the source. Despite its strong airflow capability, the system achieves A+ energy efficiency,²¹ balancing performance with energy-conscious operation. By integrating cooking and ventilation into one appliance, the Extractor Induction Hob removes the need for a separate hood and supports a more open, streamlined kitchen layout.

Maintenance is simplified through a dishwasher-safe Easy Clean Grease Filter. The stainless-steel filter²² delivers A-grade 95% filtration efficiency²³ to capture oil and grease, while an integrated charcoal filter helps reduce odors and gases. Together, these elements sustain consistent ventilation performance with minimal upkeep.

Easy Integration With SmartThings Through Matter-Enabled IKEA Devices

Twenty-five IKEA smart home devices including a scroll wheel remote, smart bulbs, plugs, temperature and humidity sensors, air quality sensors, motion sensors, door sensors and water leak sensors, now support the global smart home standard Matter.²

Previously, connecting IKEA devices to SmartThings required an IKEA smart home hub³ and SmartThings hub, but they can now be connected directly to SmartThings hub. They also work with Samsung appliances including TVs, air conditioners and washing machines, as well as a wide range of third-party devices and protocols supported by the platform.

Smarter Care — From Checking on Loved Ones To Optimizing Sleep Environments

Users can connect an IKEA door sensor to SmartThings and attach it to a frequently used door to monitor when their parents start their day and whether they are active at home through SmartThings Family Care. This offers a convenient way to check on loved ones, even when living apart.

Installed on a wall, IKEA’s air quality sensors and its temperature and humidity sensors collect data on temperature, humidity, carbon dioxide levels and light intensity. SmartThings compares these readings with recommended ranges for optimal sleep and provides a Sleep environment report with actionable insights — such as lowering the temperature to 19-21°C — helping create an ideal bedroom environment.

Users can also set routines that activate the air conditioner’s dehumidification mode when rising humidity is detected. If the water leak sensor detects moisture, it sends an immediate alert enabling a prompt response.

Intuitive Control With the Scroll Wheel Remote

Ahead of launch, Samsung and IKEA conducted multiple rounds of validation to enhance connectivity stability and implemented a dedicated user experience within the SmartThings app for full compatibility.

A standout device is the scroll wheel remote, which significantly enhances user experience. When connected to lighting, users can precisely adjust brightness and color temperature by rotating the wheel, making it easy to create the desired ambiance. It can also be used for devices requiring fine control, such as blinds.⁴ It targets the design-conscious younger generation, who prioritizes aesthetic value in every detail, down to a single switch or lighting.

Expanding a Boundless Smart Home Ecosystem With Early Adoption of Thread

Samsung is not only leading the Matter ecosystem through the rapid adoption of new standards, but also demonstrating strong technology leadership in the smart home market.

SmartThings was the first to adopt Thread⁵ 1.4 — a low-power, short-range networking technology essential for smart home ecosystems — enabling Thread networks across brands to operate as a single unified system that enhances user convenience while helping drive the wider adoption of smart homes.

Within these zones, a series of creative explorations illustrates ideas, possibilities and future directions. Through this approach, Samsung Design is making its vision tangible, inviting visitors to engage with design as an evolving, human-centered practice.

Human-Centricity and Expressive Design

Samsung Design is expanding its approach beyond user experience, with a greater focus on how people live and experience everyday life.

“Design should reflect the diversity of humanity — embracing different lifestyles, values and ways people live,” said Mauro Porcini, President and Chief Design Officer (CDO) of the Device eXperience (DX) Division at Samsung Electronics. “It is not only about creating products, but about shaping experiences that feel relevant, personal and meaningful in everyday life. “Local pubs are at the heart of our communities, especially when it comes to football. There’s nothing like watching a big game at the pub surrounded by mates — and the atmosphere makes all the difference,” said Cole. “A quality TV setup is crucial to that experience, keeping everyone in the moment. This initiative is about giving local pubs the tools they need to bring people together and create unforgettable match-day memories.”

Consumer behavior supports this need. Many football fans in the U.K. continue to watch major tournaments at pubs, valuing the shared, community-driven atmosphere. Viewing quality plays a decisive role in venue selection, with a significant proportion of customers prioritizing pubs equipped with high-performance screens and audio systems. Poor viewing experiences can lead to lost business, as most customers indicate they would leave the venue if the TV quality were inadequate.

Samsung’s campaign addresses these challenges by offering a nationwide voting process in which customers can nominate their local pubs for a technology upgrade. Eleven venues are shortlisted, with ten receiving Samsung TVs and marketing support, while one final winner is awarded a larger-scale transformation, including an advanced TV setup and additional promotional investment.

By equipping pubs with Samsung’s latest TV technology, the initiative will deliver a more immersive and reliable viewing experience for football fans. Enhanced Family Care Makes It Easier To Check In on Loved Ones

Family Care connects SmartThings with a range of home appliances and mobile devices to provide notifications regarding the activities of users’ aging parents and reminders for medication and hospital visits — as well as location-based alerts. With this update, the service enables even more thoughtful care.

Additionally, Samsung’s new Care on Call¹ feature allows users to more closely check on the status of the care recipient through a simple phone call. When a caregiver using the service calls the care recipient, a floating pop-up that displays key information like the time of the first activity of the day, the most recent activity time and the local weather — all at a glance — appears before the call begins. This helps caregivers ask more meaningful check-in questions and respond accordingly.

SmartThings can also continuously monitor devices like air conditioners, air purifiers, dehumidifiers and humidifiers for indoor temperature, humidity and air quality. If unusual usage patterns are detected, the caregiver is immediately notified and can remotely control the relevant device.²

Family Care has made the Safety Patrol feature — which utilizes SmartThings to send a new Bespoke AI Jet Bot Steam Ultra to check various areas around the house — even more convenient. If the care recipient’s activity is not detected for a specified period of time, users receive a notification and the feature can be remotely activated if the caregiver needs to take action.³ Using a camera built into the robot vacuum, caregivers can view issues that might occur — such as a person lying incapacitated — and two-way communication through the built-in speaker and microphone allows them to act.

To further enhance the level of care provided to loved ones, the Care Insight feature been enhanced to provide even more actionable, long-term data within the Family Care service. It analyzes factors like temperature and humidity levels, paying attention to whether they deviate from optimal ranges. It also tracks significant changes in activity levels and connected device usage compared to the previous week.

Expansion of Now Brief to TVs and Family Hub

Now Brief delivers a rich AI experience by integrating a broad range of key SmartThings services that help users stay informed about their daily lives, their family members and conditions inside and outside the home.

With the launch of the Galaxy S26 series, Now Brief will support Home Security, Family Care and Pet Care, in addition to existing features that include Home Insight, Energy and the Sleep Environment Report. Through Now Brief, users can access the useful information needed to care for themselves, their families and their homes at a glance.

 Now Brief is set to deliver a consistent customized experience throughout the home,⁴ and will soon roll out in phases to TVs launched in 2024 or later, as well as Family Hub refrigerators launched in 2021 or later.

For added convenience, users will not need to manually launch Now Brief. If the feature is set up in advance, it will be automatically activated when they approach the TV, touch the Family Hub refrigerator screen or open and close the refrigerator door.

And now, whether at home or on the go, the expanded Now Brief helps users stay up to date by providing information such as home device status and energy usage, as well as the sleep status of the previous night, Home Security updates based on door locks, door sensors, and security mode, parents’ daily activity updates and dog-walking information.⁵

Advancing Picture Innovation Across Premium Displays

Samsung continues to expand its leadership in display innovation with its 2026 lineup. At the seminar, the company is showcasing its latest Micro RGB technology, delivering highly precise color control, deeper contrast and a more immersive visual experience.

Powered by the Micro RGB AI Engine Pro, the display continuously refines color and contrast in real time. It also achieves 100% color coverage of BT.2020, demonstrating highly accurate and lifelike color expression. Why APV

Codecs may be unfamiliar to many consumers, but they act as invisible engines shaping the user experience. Think of a suitcase — how you pack it determines how much it holds and how easily you can find what you need. Likewise, an efficient codec enables a user to store more high-quality video while improving playback and editing.

Video falls into two categories — casual video, everyday clips we capture and share, and professional video for cinema-grade editing. While casual codecs prioritize compression efficiency, professional codecs must preserve image quality and reproduce colors with precision. Just as overpacking a suitcase can damage or distort its contents, professional video requires a robust codec that preserves every detail.

Conventional compression makes it difficult to fully enable mobile post-production — including color grading, where creators apply precise tones to match their artistic vision, and visual effects (VFX). APV was designed to support the entire workflow from capture to final edit while preserving detail even after multiple rounds of recompression.

Reducing Complexity Without Compromise

The biggest technical challenge was reducing complexity. Conventional professional codecs focus on image quality, making them computationally demanding and limiting use to high-end hardware. The goal was to achieve a low-complexity design that mobile processors could handle in real time without compromising quality.

To address this, Samsung introduced lightweight entropy coding¹ to reduce computational load and frame tiling² that enables parallel encoding and decoding across multiple cores. As a result, APV supports real-time processing of up to 8K video on mobile phones while maintaining image quality with minimal loss, even after multiple edits.

Building an Open Ecosystem for All

The value of technology lies in how widely it is used. Samsung chose to build an open ecosystem where anyone can adopt and advance the technology. It’s like sharing a great recipe — leading to even better results.

In February 2026, Samsung published APV through the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) as RFC 9924, establishing it as a de facto global standard. The company also released the full source code on GitHub under the name “OpenAPV,” enabling developers worldwide to participate and contribute.

This openness is driving ecosystem growth and accelerating adoption. The APV codec is supported in Android 16, while the open-source tool FFmpeg and post-production software DaVinci Resolve have also added support.

Collaborating Across Global Teams

This progress was driven by Samsung’s global research collaboration. After Samsung Research (SR) led early development, teams across Samsung Research America (SRA), Samsung R&D Institute India-Bangalore (SRI-B), Samsung R&D Institute Poland (SRPOL) and Samsung R&D Institute Japan (SRJ) worked closely together. Their efforts led to a key milestone in October 2023, when APV was unveiled at the Samsung Developer Conference (SDC). In August 2024, Samsung joined the Academy Software Foundation (ASWF) to support the open-source video ecosystem.

To bring the technology to mobile phones, the Mobile eXperience (MX) Business spearheaded product integration. Close collaboration between MX and SR optimized performance for mobile. In February 2026, Samsung equipped Galaxy S26 Ultra with APV — the first Android phone to support the codec.

Maria Prymachenko’s work is recognized for its vivid imagery, deep connection to nature and strong ties to Ukrainian traditions. Her paintings often depict fantastical animals, vibrant flowers and symbolic scenes that convey themes of hope, resilience and the triumph of good over evil. Rooted in personal and cultural heritage, her art reflects family life, craftsmanship and the preservation of traditions across generations.

The collection includes a curated selection of 12 works that highlight different aspects of her artistic style. Circle to Search with Google,³ a Galaxy fan favorite feature, continues to expand and now allows multiple objects to be identified at once. For example, when users spot a look they love, information about each object — from tops to footwear — can be found in one search by simply circling an outfit on the screen.

AI Select⁴ suggests relevant actions based on on-screen content, such as creating GIFs, saving images or setting wallpapers. The feature is now accessible by long-pressing the Edge Panel.

Users can also move content seamlessly between apps. Multi-Window Drag & Drop, enhanced with AI Select, enables faster multitasking in apps like Samsung Browser and Samsung Notes. For example, images can be dragged directly into Samsung Notes and resized as needed.

The enhanced Object Eraser⁵ removes unwanted elements with improved edge accuracy for clearer, more natural-looking images in fewer edits.

Samsung Electronics today announced a new 14-meter standard size for its Onyx (ICD model) cinema LED lineup at CinemaCon 2026, expanding the platform into larger premium auditoriums. The new model is designed for Premium Large Format (PLF) theaters and delivers the same picture quality, reliability and scalability that define the Onyx platform at a larger scale.

As cinemas raise the bar on premium, differentiated experiences, larger-format auditoriums are becoming a key priority for exhibitors. Samsung’s new 14-meter format¹ is designed to meet this demand — enabling greater immersion, optimized seating layouts and more efficient use of theater space.

“People go to premium theaters for something they cannot recreate at home,” said Hyoung Jae Kim, Executive Vice President of the Visual Display (VD) Business at Samsung Electronics. “That raises the bar for every part of the auditorium, starting with the screen. Samsung’s new 14-meter Onyx gives exhibitors a way to bring the premium experience to larger auditoriums, helping turn moviegoing into a destination again.”

Expanding Premium Cinema Experiences With Screens Up to 20 Meters

Since its debut in 2017, Samsung Onyx has broadened what cinema LED can deliver with deep blacks, rich color and striking contrast. Following last year’s launch of the 5-meter model for boutique theaters and the 10-meter model for premium auditoriums,² Samsung is now expanding the lineup with a 14-meter standard size designed for larger theater environments.

The new model brings the same core Onyx experience — including support for up to 4K 120Hz,³ exceptional clarity and ultra-smooth motion — while introducing two distinctions tailored to the 14-meter format:

• 3.3mm pixel pitch: optimized for the 14-meter format to deliver sharp, consistent image quality on a larger screen.
• Flexible scaling support: enables the 14-meter format to expand up to 20 meters — more than doubling total screen area without compromising presentation quality. Individual LED cabinets can be added to the sides and bottom to achieve the desired size, creating a seamless, floor-to-ceiling visual experience.

As the world’s first DCI-certified cinema LED display,⁴ Onyx supports both scope (2.39:1) and flat (1.85:1) aspect ratios. Samsung’s HDR technology delivers peak brightness of up to 300 nits — approximately six times brighter than conventional cinema standards.⁵ Onyx also achieves 100% color volume at peak brightness, while its infinite contrast ratio enables true black levels for deeper immersion and greater detail in dark scenes.

Beyond traditional movie screenings, Onyx is also well-suited for alternative content such as live sports, concerts, gaming events and corporate presentations. Unlike conventional projection-based systems, the Onyx LED screen delivers consistent brightness and image quality regardless of screen size or seating position. Compatibility with Dolby and GDC media servers also helps support streamlined theater management.

Onyx Builds on Global Adoption Across Premium Cinemas

Since launching the latest Onyx lineup (ICD model) last year, Samsung has expanded its presence in premium cinema through growing exhibitor adoption and high-profile installations. One of the latest examples is Pathé Dar Essalam in Rabat, Morocco, where the latest Onyx has been installed as part of a newly developed premium cinema complex in the city’s luxury district.

Designed in collaboration with Pathé’s headquarters, the venue is positioned as a flagship destination comparable to Pathé Palace in Paris, with all four auditoriums equipped with Onyx displays in 10-meter, 5-meter and scaled 6.4-meter configurations. With 12 Onyx screens in total — including four of the latest Onyx screens — Pathé now operates more Onyx screens than any other cinema company in Europe.

Samsung’s momentum with the latest Onyx lineup also extends to the United States. In December 2025, Trilith Cinemas in Fayetteville, Georgia became the first U.S. theater to premiere the latest generation of Samsung Onyx cinema LED screens, installing them across 5 auditoriums. Located in one of the country’s most active production communities, the theater offers audiences a setting that matches the scale, visual detail and creative intent of the production process.

The Swords Athletics became the first Polish running team to participate in The Speed Project relay race, completing the demanding route from Los Angeles to Las Vegas through Death Valley, while equipped with Samsung Electronics’ Galaxy devices. Covering approximately 547 kilometers, the race pushes runners to their limits — with extreme desert temperatures, sleep deprivation and unpredictable terrain — making it one of the most grueling endurance events in the world.

This powerful combination of technology and talent has already reaped rewards. After securing a dominant win at the 2025 Chicago Marathon and shattering the half-marathon world record this March in Lisbon, the 25-year-old is now targeting success at the 2026 London Marathon.

To mark World Health Day (WHD) 2026 on April 7, Samsung Newsroom asked him to detail his data-driven training regime, which embodies this year’s WHD slogan, “Together for health. Stand with science.”

With exclusive access to his Samsung Health metrics, we take an inside look into his grueling training program, which has seen him cover over 100 km in just one week. Discover how insights led him to adjust his training for optimal recovery and how even a “rest day” can include a 3 km run.

Q. Congratulations on your recent world record at the 2026 Lisbon Half Marathon. What’s the secret to your success?

There’s no secret. It’s just about discipline. You have to work hard, be extremely focused, and manage your energy — knowing when to rest and when to push harder. But honestly, the most important part is that you have to really want what you’re working toward. I wouldn’t have broken the world record if I didn’t follow that formula.

Q. You finished second at the 2025 London Marathon and are now preparing to go one step further at this year’s event. What role has your Galaxy Watch8 played in your training?

My coach doesn’t live in Uganda, so my Galaxy Watch8 has basically become his personal assistant here. Even though he’s not with me, he can get real-time analysis and reports on my running form through the Running Analysis feature in Samsung Health. We track my heart rate and pay close attention to my pace for each kilometer. During the harder sessions, I also monitor the asymmetry readings to see if I’m overcompensating on one side so I can avoid strain. Contact time is another key aspect I keep an eye on, making small adjustments to my form to ensure every stride is as efficient as possible. I always try to improve my running economy, so these insights are incredibly helpful.

Q. Looking at your recent Samsung Health data, we can see some clear patterns in your training routine. Tell us about your regime.

Consistency is key, but athletes must not be obsessed with training. What many people don’t realize is that rest is equally as important as physical training. To compete at your best, you need to be able to maximize your energy, and the only way to do that is through consistent rest. But “rest” doesn’t always mean no training. A rest day can mean running 3 km instead of 40 km. You have to be consistent in what you’re doing, but you also need to listen to your body and know when to slow down. Technology can help a lot with this.

Q. Can you give us an example of how a specific insight from the Samsung Health app led you to adapt your training program?

The decision to run 3 km instead of 40 km that I just mentioned was a true story. After experiencing some lingering soreness during a recent 24 km run, I decided to turn what was intended to be a 40 km run into a light 3 km jog to ensure I could recover and have the stamina to get through 40 km another day. The Samsung Health app was very helpful for me here. It kept me informed so I could allow my body to fully recover and prevent a potential injury or burnout.

Q. We’ve seen how a professional runner like yourself uses data to reach their goals. What advice would you give to someone who is just starting their running journey, and how can the Running Coach feature get them on the right track?

For beginners, it is very important to ease into things and be patient. You will build up stamina over time; it’s about knowing when to push yourself and when to stop. Not everyone has a personal coach with them to tailor a training plan. But the Running Coach feature provides customized programs to help even beginners train for a marathon. It tells you exactly what you should be doing during a run, motivates you and helps you improve. New runners are fortunate to have this fantastic technology which can guide them every step of the way. It’s also great for more experienced runners looking to take on a full marathon as it provides structured training programs.

Q. On World Health Day, the message is “Together for health, stand with science.” How does this relate to your own philosophy?

Science helps me throughout my training. I don’t know where I would be without the ability to track data on my Galaxy Watch8. I use that science to shape my daily routine. Science and technology help me perform at my best, and I believe they can do the same for anyone.
