A home where people can live without lifting a finger is the ultimate vision the appliance industry has pursued for more than a century.

Samsung Electronics is taking a major step closer to bringing the dream home to life with its AI Home, an ecosystem that seamlessly connects devices and intelligently adapts to users’ needs.

At the center of this ecosystem is SmartThings, Samsung’s IoT platform and the core engine connecting devices within the AI Home.1 The service integrates with more than 4,500 models from over 380 partners,2 building a vast AI Home ecosystem. The number of home appliances connected to SmartThings has reached 33 million — up about 30% compared to the beginning of this year.3

Combining unmatched connectivity with ambient intelligence that understands and anticipates user needs, Samsung aims to create an AI-powered home that minimizes everyday chores and maximizes life’s possibilities through intelligent, connected appliances.

For the second interview in this four-part “Why Samsung” series, Samsung Newsroom spoke with Hyesoon Yang, Executive Vice President and Head of Multi-Device Experience (MDE) Strategy Team, Digital Appliances (DA) Business at Samsung Electronics, about how SmartThings is transforming daily living through AI Home innovation.

▲ Hyesoon Yang, Executive Vice President and Head of MDE Strategy Team, DA Business at Samsung Electronics

The Next Generation of Connectivity

Q1. Why has Samsung been building the foundation for a connected AI Home?

Home appliances were invented to reduce household chores and have continued to evolve for more than a century. Technology has eliminated much of that labor, but one challenge remains — creating seamless connections across the household journey, from washing to drying, food management to cooking and cleaning to air purification.

The first step toward solving this issue is achieving smooth device connectivity — and that’s exactly what SmartThings delivers. By enabling appliances and devices to communicate and operate in sync, SmartThings ultimately aims to free users from housework and help them enjoy a more effortless, fulfilling life.

Q2. What sets Samsung apart in enabling a connected AI Home?

Samsung home appliances connected through SmartThings go beyond their traditional functions, not only improving convenience by integrating devices but also advancing energy management and efficiency. As an open platform, SmartThings seamlessly connects with devices from global partners — allowing it to perform complex cross-device functions and gain a deeper understanding of the home through a network of sensors. Such high-level connectivity, along with the advanced interoperability of Samsung appliances, is what makes a truly intelligent AI Home possible.

SmartThings has grown rapidly, from 100 million global users in 2019 to more than 410 million as of July 2025 — a more than fourfold increase in six years. In Korea alone, the number of users has surpassed 23 million.4 Building on this foundation, Samsung’s AI Home delivers tangible benefits by simplifying daily routines (Ease), supporting loved ones (Care), helping users optimize their time and energy (Save) and protecting the home (Secure). Backed by unmatched connectivity and openness, this differentiated AI Home experience reflects Samsung’s distinctive advantage and fulfills the fundamental purpose of home appliances.

Less Chores, More Time

Q3. What are some benefits consumers can enjoy through Samsung’s connected platform and AI Home ecosystem?

When a washing cycle finishes while users are watching TV, a notification appears in the upper-right corner of the screen — letting them check laundry progress. While cooking in the kitchen, users can turn on the air conditioner in their child’s room directly from the SmartThings-connected refrigerator display. With 3D Map View, users can monitor and control all connected devices through a three-dimensional layout of their home. The Away Mode feature in SmartThings automatically turns off lights and the TV when users leave — and even starts the robot vacuum to clean on its own.

▲ Users can manage their home appliances on the refrigerator screen with 3D Map View.

Quick Remote is another convenient feature that lets users control their appliances directly from their smartphones.5 When a SmartThings-connected appliance is nearby, a pop-up automatically appears on the smartphone — allowing users to operate the device instantly without searching for a remote.

SmartThings also helps users save energy effortlessly. When AI Energy Mode is activated, it analyzes usage patterns to reduce energy consumption by up to 10% for refrigerators,6 70% for washing machines7 and 30% for air conditioners.8 Samsung is expanding this energy-efficient ecosystem globally through partnerships with companies like British Gas in the United Kingdom and CoolBlue in the Netherlands.

Q4. Beyond appliance control, how does SmartThings enhance family and pet care?

Housework is more than cleaning — it’s also about caring for one’s family and home. SmartThings-connected appliances now extend that care, helping users look after themselves, their families, their pets and their living spaces.

Family Care9 supports loved ones who live apart. If abnormal activity patterns are detected or a connected appliance has not been used for a certain period, SmartThings sends an alert prompting users to check in. Through the SmartThings app, users can also set medication schedules — sending smartphone reminders, dispensing the right amount and temperature of water from a connected purifier and even enabling home monitoring through a linked robot vacuum when no one is at home to check in.

Pet Care helps keep pets safe and comfortable while owners are away. On hot days, users can remotely turn on a SmartThings-connected air conditioner or check in on their pets through a home camera. If barking is detected, users can play soothing music through the robot vacuum or stream calming videos on the TV.

Connected through SmartThings, home appliances have redefined their role — evolving from simple household tools into intelligent companions that make daily life more convenient while caring for users and their families.

Ambient Intelligence — The Future of AI Home

Q5. What direction is Samsung taking with SmartThings and AI Home?

▲ Exterior view of Samsung’s Smart Modular Home

At IFA 2025, Samsung introduced the Smart Modular Home — a solution that allows users to experience the benefits of an AI Home from the moment they move in, demonstrating that the AI Home is no longer a vision of the future but a reality.

Additionally, Samsung is advancing ambient intelligence technologies that intuitively understand user context without being intrusive. By learning from and analyzing data across connected devices, the company aims to create a fully automated AI Home that understands users’ behaviors, preferences and routines. The overarching goal of SmartThings and AI Home is to become a true companion in every home — automatically adapting to each person’s lifestyle, freeing them from household chores and providing peace of mind.

None of this is possible without robust security. In the part three of the “Why Samsung” interview series, Samsung Newsroom will explore the company’s strengths and future direction in security.

The Smart Modular Home combines AI-enabled appliances, high-efficiency HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) systems and seamless connectivity through SmartThings1 and SmartThings Pro into a single built-in residential solution. With IFA 2025 as a launch point, Samsung plans to bring its Smart Modular Home to the global B2B market.

Samsung Newsroom got a firsthand look at how the Smart Modular Home is transforming residential spaces.

A Seamlessly Connected AI Home

Upon entering the Smart Modular Home, visitors are greeted by a wall-mounted panel on the right featuring SmartThings’ 3D Map View. The display shows the real-time status of appliances throughout the home, letting users monitor and control devices instantly as they adapt to the user’s lifestyle and environment. At the entrance, a smart security camera2 and smart door lock provide convenient and secure access.

A Home That Works Behind the Scenes

▲ When a user returns home, SmartThings automatically adjusts the lighting and temperature by controlling devices.

As visitors pass through the entrance into the kitchen, the home immediately demonstrates its intelligence. Linked to the smart door lock, SmartThings detects when someone enters, turns on the lights and gently opens the curtains. The robot vacuum completes its cleaning cycle and docks at the charging station, while the air conditioner adjusts the room to the preferred temperature.

Smarter Energy Use

The appliance innovation legacy of Samsung Electronics extends from microwave ovens with TVs and talking refrigerators to IoT-enabled refrigerators. These appliances have steadily evolved into today’s Bespoke AI lineup — products that understand users and provide personalized solutions.

Under the theme “AI Home: Future Living, Now,” Samsung will present an advanced AI Home experience1 at IFA 2025, Europe’s largest home appliance exhibition, taking place in Berlin from September 5-9.

As the event draws nearer, Samsung Newsroom is taking a closer look at the company’s innovation trajectory and how its appliances have advanced into the future.

From the Talking Refrigerator to Bixby, and Now a Voice-Connected Home

Samsung marked the beginning of voice-enabled appliances in 1985 with the debut of its Talking Refrigerator. Later equipped with early speech synthesis technology in 1989, the product went beyond simple voice guidance by offering scheduled playback of recordings, a family memo feature and door-open alerts — laying the foundation for AI-enabled voice interaction.

This early innovation eventually evolved into Bixby,2 Samsung’s AI voice assistant introduced in 2018. Bixby has since become the intelligence and control hub of the company’s home appliances, enabling voice control across refrigerators, air conditioners, washing machines and more. With Voice ID,3 the AI assistant can now even recognize individual users to provide customized information.

▲ (left) Talking Refrigerator, (right) Bixby’s Voice ID feature can recognize individual users

Appliance Screens, Now the Hub of the Home

Samsung was an early pioneer of the concept of “screen appliances,” presenting a vision for the future of connected homes. In 1982, the company introduced a multi-purpose microwave with a screen, which not only allowed users to check cooking instructions but also watch TV and even monitor home entry with surveillance camera functions. Later, Samsung expanded the role of the screen to refrigerators, transforming them from simple storage units into the hub of daily family life.

In 2016, Samsung launched the Family Hub refrigerator — an IoT-enabled fridge. Equipped with a 21.5-inch touchscreen and internal cameras, it allowed users to check the status of their food items and manage grocery shopping online, opening up a completely new kitchen experience. Since then, refrigerators, washing machines, air conditioners and other appliances have been connected through SmartThings,4 with screens that have evolved into control hubs that let users monitor and manage smart devices throughout the home at a glance.

▲ (left) Multi-purpose microwave, (right) Family Hub refrigerator launched in 2016

From Neuro-Fuzzy Washers to Bespoke AI: The Evolution of Intelligent Appliances

Samsung took its first step toward intelligent appliances in 1980 with the launch of an air conditioner embedded with a microcomputer chip. This spirit of innovation continued into the 1990s, when Samsung launched the Neuro-Fuzzy washing machine which features the fuzzy logic IC5 and neuro-algorithms, in 1991. Using optical sensors, it detected soil level, load size and water temperature, then automatically optimized the wash cycle — introducing the concept of appliances that sense, decide and deliver personalized solutions.

▲ Air conditioner embedded with a microcomputer chip

In 2018, Samsung launched the QuickDrive washing machine, which applied AI-based curation to recommend wash cycles based on fabric type, color and soil level. This innovation laid the groundwork for the Bespoke AI Laundry Combo, equipped with OptiWash and AI Optimal Dry, which automatically detect fabric types and soil levels to deliver optimized wash cycles and drying temperatures.6

Samsung also brought intelligence to vacuum cleaners with the Hauzen robot vacuum in 2006. Using a gyro sensor, it calculated distance and angles to map out optimal cleaning routes through self-mapping capabilities. This marked a shift from simple dust collection to appliances capable of responding to their environment. Today’s Bespoke Jet Bot Combo builds on this legacy with advanced security and AI-powered camera sensors that recognize and avoid objects,7 distinguish floor types8 and navigate more intelligently.

▲ (left) Neuro-Fuzzy washing machine, (right) Hauzen robot vacuum

Innovative Appliance Lineup at IFA: An AI Home Tailored to You

At IFA 2025, Samsung will showcase an even more advanced AI Home, powered by its 2025 Bespoke AI appliance lineup.

“Based on Samsung’s legacy of innovation, we will continue to deliver greater convenience and value in users’ daily lives,” said Jeong Seung Moon, EVP and Head of the R&D Team at Samsung Electronics’ Digital Appliances (DA) Business. “By setting a new standard for personalized AI Home experiences, we aim to further solidify the idea that ‘Samsung = AI appliances.’”

1 AI-based features are available on certain appliances, and based on our deep learning model, which is trained using a predefined set of data and may yield incomplete or incorrect information. New datasets may be introduced to our learning model from time to time to enhance its accuracy.
2 Bixby is Samsung’s brand of Internet of Things (IoT) voice assistant. Bixby service availability may vary depending on country. Bixby recognizes selected languages and certain accents/dialects. The user interface may change and differ by device. The availability of Bixby features and content providers may vary depending on the country/carrier/language/device model/OS version. A Samsung account log-in and data network connection (Wi-Fi or data network) are required. Users must agree to the update to use this function.
3 The Voice ID feature on Samsung home appliances supports registration of up to six users. Currently available on select Samsung Family Hubs and refrigerators and may vary by model and region. Each user must register for a Samsung Account on screen appliances in advance. The Calendar app supports integration with Google and Microsoft, and may vary by model and region.
4 Available on Android and iOS devices. A Wi-Fi connection and a Samsung account are required.
5 Fuzzy logic is an approach to computing that mimics human reasoning by using degrees of truth instead of strict yes/no values, and an integrated circuit (IC) is a chip that contains electronic circuits to perform specific functions.
6 Fabric sensing uses an AI algorithm to sense certain types of fabric types for loads up to 8 lbs. A turbidity sensor operates for all weights. Mixed fabrics may reduce detection accuracy. Actual results may vary depending on individual use. To prevent wear, wash and dry like fabrics together.
7 Object recognition may be affected by an object’s shape or the environmental conditions. Only certain object types can be recognized. Stained Area Recognition needs to be activated beforehand via the SmartThings App. A Wi-Fi connection and Samsung account are required.
8 Based on our deep learning model trained using a predefined set of data and may yield incomplete or incorrect information. New datasets may be introduced to our learning model from time to time to enhance its accuracy.

Samsung Electronics announced today that it has started rolling out a software update to introduce new features for its Bespoke AI Refrigerators with screens,1 which is launching in 2025. Designed to enhance the user experience, the update includes the Voice ID feature provided by Bixby, which was unveiled at Welcome to Bespoke AI global launch event in March.

“Our primary goal for this year is to realize an AI Home that adapts intuitively to the user,” said Jeong Seung Moon, EVP and Head of the R&D Team for Digital Appliances Business at Samsung Electronics. “We aim to enhance the user experience through continuous software upgrades for existing products, taking us one step closer to a true AI Home experience.”

New Update: Bixby and Samsung TV Plus

The Voice ID feature2 is a new multi-voice recognition function provided by Bixby.3 It identifies users’ voices registered either on the refrigerator or a Galaxy mobile device, enabling personalized features based on the recognized user. This allows consumers to personalize shared home appliances for individual use, offering greater convenience and functionality.

For example, Bixby intelligently switches to each user’s Samsung account based on the recognized user. Users can check their registered schedules on the calendar,4 or their photos5 using simple voice commands. Also, they can trigger an alarm on their phone to check its location, even when the device is set to silent mode.6

The Voice ID feature also enables seamless interactions with the refrigerator screen for users who utilize vision enhancements on their Galaxy mobile phones. Even without a request to switch accounts, Bixby automatically switches accounts with general conversations for these users. It then synchronizes the appliance’s display modes with the settings on the user’s mobile phone, such as color inversion or grayscale.7

Additionally, Samsung has introduced a new way to activate Bixby on the screen. Previously, users could activate Bixby by clicking the Bixby icon on the screen or through voice commands. When the screen is off, an additional option has been added to activate Bixby by double-tapping the display. Users can make the most of this feature by selecting their preferred method in the settings.

The update is being applied to Bespoke AI Refrigerators with AI Family Hub launching in 2025 first,8 with availability coming after the completion of the latest software update on AI Family Hub screens or SmartThings.

Additionally, Samsung plans to gradually apply this update to the Bespoke AI refrigerators with AI Home9 in the second quarter of 2025. For refrigerators with AI Home, the update expands the service area for Samsung TV Plus, as well. Previously available in only South Korea and the United States, the service will extend to Canada, Brazil, Australia, Mexico and India. Thanks to the update, it is expected that consumers will be able to easily enjoy entertainment features right from their kitchen with Samsung TV Plus.

1 Refers to the refrigerators with AI Family Hub, and 9-inch AI Home screens
2 Each user must register for a Samsung Account on screen appliances in advance. Voice ID should be registered either on the refrigerator, or Galaxy mobile devices and then transferred to the refrigerator. (Limited to Galaxy S24 and subsequent models where Voice ID can be registered.)
3 Bixby is Samsung’s brand of Internet of Things (IoT) voice assistant. Bixby service availability may vary depending on the country. Bixby recognizes certain accents/dialects of English (US, UK, Indian), Chinese, Korean, French, German, Italian, Spanish (Spain, Latin America) and Portuguese (Brazil). User interface may change and differ by device. Availability of Bixby features and content providers may vary depending on the country/carrier/language/device model/OS version. A Samsung account log-in and network connection (Wi-Fi or data network) are required.
4 To use calendar feature, users need to either register their schedule directly on the refrigerator or link their mobile phone calendar in advance. Only Google or Microsoft calendars saved under a Google or Microsoft account can be synced with the Bespoke AI Refrigerator with AI Family Hub. (Refrigerators with AI Home support Google Calendar only.)
5 Gallery feature is supported only for users who have saved photos to OneDrive cloud storage via the Samsung Gallery app on a Samsung mobile phone.
6 To enable the service, a preset is required in the SmartThings Find.
7 When a user registers a device through the SmartThings app, a one-time sync notification may appear via a plug-in. If the user signs into their Samsung account on a refrigerator and related settings are stored in the cloud, this data may be transmitted once to the device. Screen settings can be modified at any time, and any changes will be saved and remain in effect unless manually updated.
8 Timeline may vary depending on the service region or model.
9 AI Home refers to the 7’’ or 9’’ LCD screen on the product. Does not mean all services available on the AI Home are AI or generate information or outcome using AI. Certain functions accessible through the AI Home utilize AI-based algorithms, which can be updated periodically to improve accuracy. AI-based algorithms may generate incomplete or incorrect information.

At the heart of Samsung Electronics’ user-friendly and safe AI Home lies one game-changing feature — the screen.

In a 2024 survey1 conducted by Samsung with 1,443 participants across five countries, the most preferred AI appliance experience was “easier and more natural voice control” (32%) followed by “integrated touchscreens on appliances” (30%).

Samsung first introduced a 21.5-inch screen on its Family Hub refrigerator in 2016. Since then, the company has incorporated a variety of screen sizes — including 4.3-inch, 7-inch and 32-inch displays — across its home appliance lineup. Samsung further broadened the scope this year to include both combined and standalone washers and dryers, as well as induction cooktops. Notably, a 9-inch screen has been added to the refrigerator lineup for the first time — offering consumers even more choice.

How have screen-equipped appliances changed users’ daily lives? Samsung Newsroom highlights five ways Samsung’s Bespoke AI screen-equipped appliances help users get more out of their homes.

1. Personalized Information at a Glance With Daily Board

The dashboard-style Daily Board2 allows users to easily view personalized information right from the kitchen. Introduced for the first time this year, the feature is available on various screen-equipped refrigerators including Samsung’s new refrigerator with 9-inch AI Home screen.

As users head to the kitchen for a glass of water in the morning, they can check the weather, view their schedule and even get recipe suggestions using ingredients stored inside the fridge — all from the screen. For a personal touch, they can also leave notes for family members.

The upgraded AI voice assistant Bixby3 recognizes individual voices and offers tailored support from displaying schedules to helping users find their smartphones.4

2. From Recipe to Oven: Orchestrating Meals With Ease

Samsung’s screens go beyond controlling individual home appliances — they enhance the entire home experience through seamless device connectivity.

AI Vision Inside5 now recognizes up to 37 types of fresh ingredients stored in the refrigerator and automatically creates a food list on the screen. The newly introduced AI Food Manager can also recommend up to 50 frequently used processed or packaged items based on usage patterns.6 From the screen, users can receive personalized recipe suggestions tailored to available ingredients. These recipes can then be sent to connected cooking appliances — such as ovens and induction cooktops — via SmartThings, making meal preparation smooth and convenient.

3. Control the Entire Smart Home From One Screen

With the Map View feature, users can monitor and control all their connected home appliances from a single screen.7 Everything can be managed remotely, from adjusting modes and changing temperatures to managing other key settings. Whether in the kitchen or living room, users can answer phone calls, monitor visitors or unlock doors — all through the screen.

Notably, this year’s new models8 feature upgraded screens that go beyond basic control — now, they serve as smart home hubs capable of connecting to and managing a wide range of devices. In addition to Wi-Fi, the appliances support Zigbee, Matter and Thread for more compatibility with various smart home and Internet of Things (IoT) ecosystems.9

4. Just a Simple Tap To Enjoy Home Entertainment

Samsung’s AI appliances make it easy to enjoy entertainment — either by mirroring content from a smartphone or directly accessing the internet or apps like YouTube and Spotify from the screen. For example, users can cook while watching a mirrored video on the refrigerator screen or use the washing machine’s screen to search YouTube for laundry tips and set the appropriate wash mode.

5. Energy Use Monitoring and Smart Maintenance Tips

One of the biggest advantages of Samsung’s large screens is their ability to intuitively visualize and manage energy consumption and maintenance tasks.

With SmartThings Energy, users can track energy use and reduce consumption through AI Energy Mode. They can also access the Optimal Scheduling feature10 that suggests ideal times to run appliances based on periods of high carbon emissions. After each wash or dry cycle, the screen displays a graph that breaks down the time spent and energy used.

To extend the appliance’s lifespan and ensure safety, the screen regularly checks device status and notifies users when filters need changing or cleaning. Bixby can even visually and audibly provide maintenance instructions on the screen when users ask.11

Under its “Screens Everywhere” vision, Samsung continues to expand its lineup of screen-equipped appliances — designed to understand and support users’ daily lives. To explore how the 2025 Bespoke AI lineup delivers a differentiated, AI-enhanced experience through screen innovation, watch the video below.

* Product images shown in the video may vary by region and differ from actual usage.

1 Online survey allowing multiple responses, conducted from August 30 to September 9, 2024. Participants included men and women aged 20 to 59 from South Korea, the United States, the United Kingdom, Mexico and Vietnam — all within the top 50% household income bracket and identified as key decision-makers or users in home appliance purchases. Of the 2,283 respondents, 1,443 expressed purchase intent for the accessibility concept — AI appliances that can be easily and conveniently controlled from anywhere in the home.
2 The 2025 Bespoke AI refrigerator with 9-inch AI Home screen, the 32-inch Family Hub and select 2024 refrigerator models are scheduled to receive this update via Smart Forward in phases. Smart Forward updates are available for software only, and for models released after 2017 that are equipped with standardized OCF protocol. Adequate hardware specifications may be required for certain updates. Available on Android and iOS devices. A Wi-Fi connection and a Samsung account are required.
3 Bixby availability may vary depending on the country. Bixby only recognizes certain accents and dialects of English (U.K.), English (U.S.), English (India), French (France), German (Germany), Italian (Italy), Korean (South Korea), Mandarin Chinese (China), Spanish (Latin America), Spanish (Spain) and Portuguese (Brazil). Voice ID will be available starting May of 2025 through Smart Forward update. Launch date may differ according to region and country. To activate Bixby, a Samsung Account is required. Up to six accounts can be registered per device. To increase the accuracy of identifying each voice, it is recommended for you to register your voice in quiet surroundings. Voice ID is done based on the tone of voice used during registration process. Any change or modification to your voice may lead to misidentification.
4 This update is planned for release in the first half of 2025 via Smart Forward. Once Bixby recognizes a user’s voice, it switches to the Samsung account linked with the Family Hub and provides personalized information such as schedules (compatible with Google and Microsoft Calendar apps), phone location, photos and more. This Bixby voice recognition feature is supported on screen-equipped appliances running Tizen OS but not on washer and dryer models with 4.3-inch screen running Tizen Lite OS.
5 Available on select T-Type and French Door refrigerator models. As of April 2025, AI Vision Inside can recognize 37 food items like fresh fruits and veggies. If the food is not recognizable, it may be listed as an unknown item. AI Vision Inside cannot identify or list any food items in the fridge door bins or freezer. It recognizes food items based on deep learning models, which may be updated periodically to improve accuracy.
6 AI Vision Inside will recognize and recommend that users save processed food items that have been placed inside multiple times, allowing up to 50 items to be saved with the designated name. Processed foods are limited to those that keep a certain packaged form. AI Home recommends saving the item after it has been input more than 4 times during 30 days.
7 A Wi-Fi connection and a Samsung account are required. Third-party devices must be SmartThings compatible.
8 Availability of the hub function in Samsung’s screen-equipped appliances may vary by model and region. It is applied to products such as the 32-inch and 9-inch screen refrigerators, as well as the 7-inch screen washers and dryers (excluding standalone models). A Wi-Fi connection and a Samsung account are required. All products must be connected to SmartThings. Only 3rd party devices that are compatible with SmartThings can be registered.
9 Update times vary by product and each protocol.
10 Features and availability of services may vary by region.
11 Bixby can answer troubleshooting- and usage-related questions based on the appliance’s user manual.

Samsung Electronics today announced the global rollout of the Bespoke AI Jet Ultra, the world’s most powerful cordless stick vacuum cleaner,1 which was unveiled at the Welcome to Bespoke AI global event held this month. Featuring the upgraded AI Cleaning Mode 2.0 and advanced HEPA filtration system, this latest innovation builds on Samsung’s leadership in smart home cleaning appliances.

“Samsung has proven its next level innovation in the cordless stick vacuum cleaner segment by launching the most powerful model in the world,” said Jeong Seung Moon, EVP and Head of the R&D Team for Digital Appliances Business at Samsung Electronics. “Building on the previous achievement of the Bespoke Jet AI, which was the world’s first UL verified AI-powered cordless stick vacuum cleaner,2 we’re confident that this new model will be a true game changer in the global market.”

Clean Thoroughly With the World’s Most Powerful Suction Power

▲ Bespoke AI Jet Ultra in a living room

The Bespoke AI Jet Ultra boasts suction power of up to 400W3 to tackle even the toughest cleaning tasks. The HexaJet Motor is the key component that generates high suction power. Its unique Hexagon stator structure with a second-stage diffuser and an impeller with the reduced thickness improve airflow and increase motor efficiency, thus enabling up to 400W of suction power. Plus, the motor allows the vacuum cleaner to run for up to 100 minutes on one battery when using Min mode,4 so users can clean their whole house in one go.

Intelligent Cleaning Support Through AI Cleaning Mode 2.0

▲ Bespoke AI Jet Ultra in a dress room

The Bespoke AI Jet Ultra also introduces the upgraded AI Cleaning Mode 2.0.5 By sensing the brush load and vacuuming air pressure, this mode can classify a total of six different cleaning environments6 using Samsung’s AI Optimum Tech and automatically adjust the cleaning performance. When using the Active Dual Brush, it can recognize whether a carpet is normal or long-pile. The vacuum cleaner senses corners7 with the Slim LED Brush+, as well. And by adjusting the suction power and brush speed8 for the different cleaning environments, it uses power more efficiently, reducing battery power use by 21% and increasing maneuverability by 8% with performance akin to Mid mode.9

Advanced HEPA Filtration System

Complementing this powerful and intelligent experience, Samsung has enhanced the filtration system to ensure dust particles are captured when air is expelled from the vacuum cleaner. The Bespoke AI Jet Ultra features a Multi-layered Filtration system that effectively traps fine dust.10 When air comes in, internal compartments like the cyclone and a metal mesh grille filter catch dust particles in succession. As a result, it achieves a filtration efficiency of 99.999%.11

Another distinctive benefit is that Samsung has implemented HEPA filtration into its Multi-layered Filtration system. With this system, the Bespoke AI Jet Ultra captures dust particles as small as 0.3µm, allowing less dust12 to escape into the air.

1 Based on testing by SLG Prüf- und Zertifizierungs GmbH, in accordance with the IEC 62885-4 Cl.5.8 standard, using a handheld type vacuum cleaner (with no brush) in Jet mode. The results were compared to cordless stick vacuum models available on the market with a stated suction power within 30% of the actual suction power of the Samsung model tested by SLG. Based on sales data between January 2024 and December 2024 as compiled by an independent market research institute.
2 In May 2023 it was the first cordless stick vacuum cleaner to receive AI certification from UL Solutions, a leading independent safety science organization.
3 Based on testing by SLG Prüf- und Zertifizierungs GmbH, in accordance with the IEC 62885-4 Cl.5.8 standard. Measured at the inlet of the non-motorized tool when the dustbin is empty, using Jet Mode and a large capacity battery that is fully charged. Lasts up to 1 min.
4 The stated run time applies when using a large capacity battery (3970mAh) and the minimum power level with a non-motorized tool attached. Results may vary depending on actual usage.
5 The updated functions of AI Cleaning Mode 2.0 can be activated after registering the stick vacuum cleaner on the SmartThings App. The operation of AI Cleaning Mode 2.0 may be limited in certain environments, such as when the All-in-one Clean Station is unplugged or Wi-Fi connection is unstable or the Bluetooth connection status between the stick vacuum cleaner and the All-in-one Clean Station is unstable. If AI Cleaning mode 2.0 does not work frequently, please move the All-in-one Clean Station to a space without obstacles nearby. To enable continuous function updates, users should keep the Wi-Fi in the house on at all times.
6 The ability to identify different cleaning environments and the time it takes to change the settings can be affected by environmental conditions.
7 Corner and floor-wall joint detection only operates in hard floor environments. “Corner” refers to the area where two flat and closed walls meet. The suction power increases about 2-3.5 seconds after the brush is pressed against the wall. If the brush contacts only one side of the corner or if there is a gap in the corner, it may not be recognized as a corner, and the recognition accuracy and reaction speed may vary depending on the wall shape and actual usage environment.
8 The brush rotation speed (rpm) can only be adjusted when using the Active Dual Brush.
9 Based on internal testing when using the Slim LED Brush+, in accordance with the global average ratio of the floor composition – wooden floor 76% and carpet 24%. It achieves the same cleaning performance as Mid mode with 2% or less difference in cleaning efficiency, in accordance with the IEC 62885-2 Cl. 5.1 and 5.4 standard. The battery consumption was measured based on the actual amount of power consumed while using the vacuum cleaner for 35 minutes from a fully charged state. The maneuverability is based on the actual measured value in accordance with the IEC 62885-2 Cl. 7.3.9 standard. Results may vary depending on the actual usage conditions.
10 Refers to dust particles in the size range of 0.5 to 4.2µm.
11 Based on internal test in accordance with the IEC 62885-2 Cl. 5.11 standard, using Jet Mode. Results may vary depending on actual usage.
12 Based on testing by SGS-IBR Laboratories, in accordance with the ASTM F3150 standard, using Jet Mode. Results may vary depending on actual usage. Compared to our non-HEPA filter model. Refers to dust particles with the size of 0.3µm or above.

Samsung Electronics today announced the addition of the Bespoke AI Laundry Vented Combo1 — an All-in-One Washer and Electric Dryer with a 7-inch AI Home touchscreen – to its lineup of Bespoke AI Laundry appliances. The combined unit eliminates the need to transfer laundry between washing and drying, while also bringing fast drying performance and intelligent functionality that makes laundry remarkably convenient.

Samsung has continued to innovate in the laundry room to offer consumers a wide array of washer and dryer models for spaces of all sizes and layouts. The Bespoke AI Laundry Ventless Combo was a standout in 2024, as it raised the bar for all-in-one washer-dryers by eliminating the common performance sacrifices associated with the format. The new Bespoke AI Laundry Vented Combo builds on its innovation and success, giving consumers another stylish and convenient space-saving option.

“At Samsung, our mission is to create smart home solutions that make life easier, more efficient and more sustainable, elevating home space to the next level in both performance and style,” said Jeong Seung Moon, EVP and Head of R&D Team for Digital Appliances Business at Samsung Electronics. “The Bespoke AI Laundry Vented Combo brings exceptional time-saving efficiency to the laundry room in a compact all-in-one solution.”

Convenient, Time Saving Functionality

▲ Bespoke AI Laundry Vented Combo_SuperSpeed

The Bespoke AI Laundry Vented Combo is a powerful model that washes and dries clothes completely in a single machine in just 68 minutes2 when using the Super Speed cycle. Its roomy 5.3 cu. ft. Ultra Capacity drum lets users do more laundry in a single load, and its vented design uses the internal heater and fan to move hot air through clothes and vent out moisture, ensuring clothes are always dried quickly and thoroughly. For even more convenience, the Vented Combo can simply swap out the currently installed washer and electric vented dryer.

And with Samsung’s AI Bubble technology, users can enjoy clean clothes, cycle after cycle. Water, air and detergent combine to create a cleansing foam that seeps into fabrics for an effective wash. To tackle tough stains without spending time pretreating them, the Steam Wash cycle comes into action. The drum releases steam to thoroughly saturate every item in the load and ensure an effective deep clean.

Effortless Operation

▲ Bespoke AI Laundry Vented Combo_Lifestyle

Like the other products in Samsung’s Bespoke AI Laundry lineup, the Vented Combo automates the process of washing and drying clothes, streamlining laundry routine and making it faster, easier experiences. Its intuitive 7-inch AI Home display is simple to use and gives a quick access to the Combo’s settings for effortless operation. And for those busy moments when the user is multi-tasking or has their hands full, convenient Voice Control capabilities let them give commands to turn the Combo on or off, access settings and more.3

Samsung’s AI Opti Wash & Dry technology uses powerful AI sensors to detect soil levels and fabrics, automatically adjusting settings as needed during the cycle to deliver a better wash and dry.4 For added convenience, the Flex Auto Dispense System automatically dispenses up to 47 loads5 of detergent — or users can choose to split the compartment, so it dispenses up to 34 loads of fabric softener and 25 loads of detergent. And when the clothes are finished drying, the Auto Open Door pops open, allowing leftover moisture to evaporate, preventing unpleasant, musty odor so clothes are fresh and dry when taken out.

And with built-in Wi-Fi connectivity, users can also get end-of-cycle alerts and remotely start, stop or delay the Combo from their mobile phone, using the SmartThings app.6

Innovations To Improve Energy Efficiency

▲ Bespoke AI Laundry Vented Combo_Lifestyle1

The Bespoke AI Laundry Vented Combo is engineered for seamless sustainable living. As an ENERGY STAR® Certified washer-dryer, it has been recognized by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for delivering energy efficiency along with the latest in technological innovation.7

SmartThings Energy allows them to monitor power consumption and estimate their monthly electricity bill for improved control over their energy usage.8 They can also turn on AI Energy Mode9 to have the Vented Combo automatically optimize its energy consumption and reduce usage by up to 30%.10 The Vented Combo is also equipped with Samsung’s Less Microfiber cycle setting, which allows users to gently clean synthetic textiles while reducing 39% of microfibers released into the ocean.11

Samsung Electronics unveiled its refreshed “AI Home” vision and innovative appliance lineup at its global launch event, Welcome to Bespoke AI, in Seoul, Korea. With a focus on providing a more secure and intuitive user experience, the company introduced an AI Home experience, showcasing advanced AI features and a wider range of screen-enabled appliances.

Jeong Seung Moon, EVP and Head of the R&D Team for Digital Appliances Business at Samsung Electronics, opened the global press conference by introducing the company’s vision for creating an AI Home that harmoniously connects various devices and, as a result, caters to user needs in every room of the home.

“Through our Bespoke AI appliances, Samsung has brought an AI Home to life that not only enhances everyday convenience but also enables energy savings and care,” said Jeong Seung Moon. “We will continue to expand the advanced AI Home to more households, leveraging smart screens, Bixby and Knox security.”

The 2025 Bespoke AI Appliance Lineup

▲ Samsung unveiled the new Bespoke AI appliances for 2025.

During the event, Samsung introduced its Bespoke AI appliances for 2025, which bring new and innovative functionalities to solve users’ difficult problems.

At the heart of the company’s vision is the AI Home display.1 Built upon the innovation of the first introduction of the AI Home display last year, the AI Home with new size options has been expanded to a broad range of new products, such as Bespoke AI Refrigerators, the Bespoke AI Laundry Vented Combo, Washers and Dryers.2

The 9-inch AI Home screen on the Bespoke AI Refrigerator lineup increases consumers’ options by offering a similar experience to what’s available on the larger AI Family Hub screen. With the upgraded AI Vision Inside,3 food management has been enhanced with new features such as recognition of processed food items,4 for models with the AI Family Hub and those with the AI Home. Through the 7-inch AI Home in the Bespoke AI Laundry, users can intuitively control the washing and drying cycles, as well as monitor and control other connected devices.5

Moreover, the new Bespoke AI appliances bring enhanced features that adapt to consumer needs. For example, the Bespoke AI Hybrid Refrigerator utilizes AI to efficiently cool the inside of the fridge, detecting its current status and predicting internal temperature changes to effectively adapt cooling.

The Bespoke AI Laundry includes new functions to enhance consumer convenience, with new standalone models that have upgraded AI Wash and AI Dry to AI Wash+ and AI Dry+,6 as well as models to be launched in Europe, using up to 55% less energy than class A minimum requirements for the washer.7 Also, Samsung unveiled the new Bespoke AI Laundry Vented Combo, which is the first ever vented combo in its class.8 It significantly reduces drying time, finishing both washing and drying in 68 minutes with its Super Speed cycle.

Samsung is continuing to innovate its vacuum cleaner lineup, as well. The cordless stick vacuum cleaner, the Bespoke AI Jet Ultra, will be launched with the world’s most powerful9 suction power of up to 400W.10 The upgraded AI Cleaning Mode 2.011 classifies more diverse environments12 like corners13 and the type of carpets14 for improved cleaning performance.

Samsung also revealed the Bespoke AI Jet Bot Steam Ultra.15 Not only is the robot vacuum cleaner designed to climb thresholds, but it is also enhanced with AI Object Recognition for complex environments,16 which can recognize obstacles as small as 1cm, and even transparent liquids17 for better cleaning results. And when it encounters corners or walls, the brush pops out, allowing it to clean areas that can be difficult for typical robot vacuum cleaners to deal with.

Samsung Home Appliances Bring Easy To Use, Care and Saving to Consumers

Samsung elaborated further on its “AI Home” vision and its commitment to integrating AI across the connected experience to cater to diverse lifestyles — through the core benefits of Easy to Use, Care and Saving.

Thanks to the adoption of the AI Home display, users will find it easier than ever to engage with the full functionality of their Bespoke AI appliances. The smart screen is now an even better central control hub, even connecting third party devices through SmartThings without the need for a separate hub device.18 Users can also utilize features like the refrigerators’ Daily Board to receive personalized information and better manage their day — or use Map View to effortlessly monitor and control other connected devices.

The upgraded Bixby allows for easier control of appliances through voice commands and enhances usability through new features like Voice ID.19 It personalizes services by recognizing the user’s voice, automatically switching to the Samsung account of the speaker and showing their calendar on the screen. And if that person also uses the low vision option on their Galaxy smartphone, it will be automatically synced to the screen for a better viewing experience.

New SmartThings services were also introduced during the event, including Family Care,20 which sends an alert to other family members if a user’s movement is not detected at the set time — or if there is no activity for a certain amount of time after the last activity. It is also possible to use the robot vacuum cleaner to look for signs of an emergency, with all of this functionality being tightly secured by Samsung Knox.

Continued Efforts To Deliver Reliable Experiences

To complete its “AI Home” vision for 2025, Samsung shone a light on how it is pushing the boundaries of innovation, prioritizing a trusted experience for users.

First, Samsung will apply enhanced Knox security to devices across the lineup so that users will be able to enjoy their AI Home experience with peace of mind. This year in particular, Trust Chain, which is part of Knox Matrix, is applied to all Wi-Fi enabled appliances launching in 2025. Users can continuously monitor products’ security status in real time through the dashboard.21

Knox Vault is also applied to home appliances for the first time,22 storing particularly sensitive user information, such as passwords and authentication information, in a separate hardware chip to ensure protection. Furthermore, to protect against the potential of future quantum attacks, Samsung’s security is also equipped with post-quantum cryptography (PQC), a part of Knox Matrix Credential Sync, for its screen-applied products.23

Another key priority for Samsung is making sure that customers can use the latest software features on their existing appliances without buying new ones. With Smart Forward,24 the software update service through SmartThings, Samsung continuously updates its appliances with new features to enhance the consumer experience.

Samsung is also actively improving product maintenance. SmartThings Home Care utilizes AI to diagnose each appliance’s status, and if signs of malfunction are detected, it sends a notification in advance. In addition, a technical support representative can provide guidance on remote measures based on pre-diagnosis results.25 This support feature has already expanded to more countries, including France, Netherlands and Canada, following Korea and the United States.

By integrating all of these wide-ranging initiatives, Samsung aims to create safer and more reliable smart home experiences that users can enjoy with comfort and peace of mind.

▲ Samsung DA held a global event to unveil its vision and new products.

1 AI Home display refers to the 7″ or 9″ LCD screen on the product. Does not mean all services available on the AI Home are AI or generate information or outcome using AI. Certain functions accessible through the AI Home utilize AI-based algorithms, which can be updated periodically to improve accuracy. AI-based algorithms may generate incomplete or incorrect information.
2 AI Home is available on select models, and its availability may vary by region.
3 Available on select T-Type and French Door refrigerator models.
4 AI Vision Inside will recognize and recommend that users save processed food items that have been placed inside multiple times, allowing up to 50 items to be saved with the designated name. Processed foods are limited to those that keep a certain packaged form. AI Home recommends saving the item after it has been input more than 4 times during 30 days.
5 A Wi-Fi connection and a Samsung account are required. Third-party devices must be SmartThings compatible.
6 Based on an advanced AI-created algorithm. It may not detect certain fabrics or accurately identify them when a load includes a mixture of different fabric types. To prevent wear, wash like fabrics together. For US, the names of features are applied differently; AI OptiWash and AI OptiDry to AI OptiWash+ and AI OptiDry+.
7 Based on Samsung internal testing. The energy consumption of this 9KG model is EEI 21.8, which is 55% more energy efficient compared to the minimum threshold of energy efficiency class A (EEI 52 for 9KG models). Energy ratings tested with Eco 40-60 program, 55% savings tested with Eco 40-60 program.
8 Among 27” vented washer/dryers. Sold only in the U.S., Canada and Mexico.
9 Based on testing by SLG Prüf- und Zertifizierungs GmbH, in accordance with the IEC 62885-4 Cl.5.8 standard, using a handheld type vacuum cleaner (with no brush) in Jet mode. The results were compared to cordless stick vacuum models available on the market with a stated suction power within 30% of the actual suction power of the Samsung model tested by SLG. Based on sales data between January 2024 and December 2024 as compiled by an independent market research institute.
10 Based on testing by SLG Prüf- und Zertifizierungs GmbH, in accordance with the IEC 62885-4 Cl.5.8 standard. Measured at the inlet of the non-motorized tool when the dustbin is empty, using Jet Mode and a large capacity battery that is fully charged. Lasts up to 1 min.
11 The updated functions of AI Cleaning Mode 2.0 can be activated after registering the stick vacuum cleaner on the SmartThings App. To enable continuous function updates, keep Wi-Fi on in the house on at all times.
12 The ability to identify different cleaning environments and the time it takes to change the settings can be affected by environmental conditions.
13 When used with Slim LED Brush+. Corner and floor-wall joint detection only operates in hard floor environments.
14 When used with Active Dual Brush.

Samsung Electronics today announced the launch of its new washers and dryer products — the Bespoke AI Laundry with AI Home1 — that integrate screens and Bespoke design to elevate the user experience. The Bespoke washers and dryers come in various forms of size and heating methods to meet a wide range of customer needs across diverse regions. The pair is available in both large and small capacities, making them suitable for different types of family and living arrangements. Samsung is also launching the dryer with two types of heating methods — the vent and the heat pump — to meet the needs of various environments around the world.

This year’s Bespoke AI Laundry products incorporate the 7” AI Home screens, extending Samsung’s “Screens Everywhere” vision that was first presented at CES 2025. These screens offer intuitive control and monitoring of essential information related to the laundry experience, such as wash cycles and remaining detergent levels. They also remember user habits and consider periodic and seasonal needs, suggesting appropriate cycles to free users from having to consider the right cycle every time. The AI Home also functions as a central hub allowing users to monitor and control connected appliances, while also enjoying online videos or music.

“Last year’s launch of the Bespoke AI Laundry Combo marked the beginning of integrating screens into our products, providing users access to essential information about laundry and home control,” says Jeong Seung Moon, EVP and Head of the R&D Team for Digital Appliances Business at Samsung Electronics. “This year, we are excited to unveil the complete Bespoke AI Laundry lineup, which caters to a wider range of customer needs and enables them to take advantage of these convenient screens.”

The Bespoke AI Washer & Dryer sets are designed to simplify laundry routines with advanced AI algorithms and sensors, optimizing washing and drying performance while enhancing energy efficiency. The original AI Wash and AI Dry are upgraded to AI Wash+ and AI Dry+, with enhanced fabric detection abilities to ensure efficient and high-quality washing and drying for a wider variety of fabric types.

27-Inch Wide Large Capacity Washer & Dryer Set Brings Extensive Laundry Capabilities

Samsung is introducing a 27-inch large capacity washer and dryer set,2 with each device featuring the 7” AI Home and utilizing a sleek Bespoke design based on a fully unified flat-panel aesthetic. In addition to the flexibility of vertical or horizontal installation layouts, the substantial capacity allows users to wash large items, like king-size comforters, with ease.

The washer now features the upgraded AI Wash+, which has been upgraded to newly detect outdoor fabrics and denim.3 Based on the detected fabric type, soil level and weight of the laundry, the AI Wash+ cycle efficiently4 cleans clothes by automatically adjusting detergent levels, rinsing time and wash settings. The washer also features a Bedding cycle that can sense the thickness of the blankets and adjust the cycle time and water usage accordingly.5 Users can also experience next-level convenience with features like Auto Open Door and Speed Shot technology which completes wash cycles in just 30 minutes.6

The matching large capacity dryer is launching in two types to meet living environments of different regions – the vent type in certain countries in the Americas, and a heat pump type in other regions. Users will be able to enjoy thorough and gentle drying with AI Dry+, which has been upgraded to detect fabric types and take them into account to optimize drying7 along with real-time temperature, weight8 and moisture content. The upgraded feature’s AI algorithm uses an advanced sensor that carefully monitor various factors to detect four fabric types,9 which results in benefits like heavy duty drying such as denim. Previously, denim was harder to dry evenly due to thicker sections like pockets, but the dryer can now detect this fabric to and reduce drying inconsistencies, delivering better performance.

The dryers also provide the Bedding feature, which also uses an advanced algorithm to detect a blanket’s size for optimized drying times and dryness.10 For those times when drying needs to be finished quickly, the vent type’s Super Speed Drying can complete a drying cycle in as little as 30 minutes.11

Along with the washer and dryer set, a large capacity washer-dryer combo model12 is also being launched for users looking for a compact, all-in-one device that can complete both jobs while using up limited space. The combo incorporates the AI Home, AI Wash+ and AI Ecobubble like the washer, and dries the clothing through a condensing method.

24-Inch Wide Small Capacity Washer & Dryer Set Boosts Laundry Efficiency

Following the unveiling of the Bespoke AI Washer at IFA 2024, the 24-inch small capacity washer & dryer set will be launching in Europe later this year. Like the large capacity washer and dryer, the small capacity set also incorporates the 7” AI Home, providing intuitive control and connectivity features for a wider audience.

The washer, built to be highly efficient to meet the needs of the European market, consumes up to 55% less energy than the minimum efficiency requirements for a Class A rating.13 It also supports thorough14 cleaning optimizing water and detergent use with AI Wash, and ensures gentle washing while improving soil removal with AI Ecobubble. QuickDrive, available with 11 different cycles, can reduce wash time by up to 50%15 without compromising cleaning performance.

The matching dryer features the AI Dry+, capable of drying precisely by detecting four fabric types16 — Normal, Denim, Towels and Synthetics. This enables the machine to dry precisely17 while reducing energy use by up to 10% and drying time by up to 15%.18 QuickDrive is also useful when users need to dry their laundry both quickly and gently, reducing drying time by up to 35%19 through automatic adjustments of the inverter compressor.

With the launch of these new products, Samsung continues to push the boundaries of innovation, offering highly intelligent, efficient and aesthetically pleasing appliances that simplify everyday life by delivering enhanced convenience to users.

Samsung Electronics today announced the global rollout of its latest lineup of smart refrigerators, reinforcing the “Screens Everywhere” vision introduced at CES 2025. This expansion includes the introduction of the 9-inch AI Home screen1 on the 4-Door, 4-Door French Door and Side-by-Side refrigerators, as well as an enhanced Family Hub screen on select French Door and Side-by-Side models. An enhanced AI Vision Inside2 feature is integrated on select 4-Door and 4-Door French Door models, refining food identification and streamlining meal planning to ensure a more intuitive kitchen experience for users.

“By offering a wide array of refrigerator options across type and also screen sizes, we are expanding choices to meet diverse household requirements,” says Jeong Seung Moon, EVP and Head of the R&D Team for Digital Appliances Business at Samsung Electronics. “Consumers can enjoy greater flexibility in choosing fridge designs while benefiting from the AI-powered smart home experience Samsung provides.”

A Smarter Way To Manage Food, Home, Family Communication and Entertainment

Samsung’s new refrigerators incorporate the intuitive 9” AI Home screen and 32” or 21.5” Family Hub screens, which are designed to enhance four key areas of daily life: Food, Home, Family Communication and Entertainment. The first category, food, is especially powered by the upgraded AI Vision Inside, which adds four more food items to the list of recognizable types for a total of 37. Furthermore, adding on to fresh food items, AI Vision Inside can now also recognize processed food items. Refrigerators with the enhanced AI Vision Inside will recognize and recommend users to save processed food items that have been placed inside multiple times, allowing up to 50 items to be saved with designated names.3 Based on the improved food list, the screen will provide tailored recipe recommendations and meal planning,4 making home cooking more seamless and personalized.

Beyond food, the screens also enhance smart home connectivity. The latest advancements provide deeper integration into the smart home ecosystem, making the refrigerator a central hub capable of controlling connected appliances throughout the entire home. With the integration of Map View, users can monitor and control Samsung appliances and even third-party smart home devices5 like lights and smart plugs. There’s also SmartThings Energy,6 which helps users track and optimize their energy consumption, facilitating greater efficiency in everyday life. The intuitive display provides users with access to a great deal of information about their home, with users also being able to issue voice commands through Bixby.7

The new Daily Board feature keeps everyone informed and connected. Placed at the heart of the home, the refrigerator screen delivers real-time updates throughout the day — whether it’s the morning weather and schedule before heading to work, or daily energy consumption reports in the evening. Users can also easily access their schedules through voice commands and receive tailored responses. By recognizing each family member’s voice and replying accordingly, Bixby will serve as both a helpful assistant for the entire household and for each person individually.8 Additional family-focused features include a shared gallery for storing precious memories and a calendar to help with daily planning.

Samsung’s latest refrigerators also redefine entertainment in the kitchen, allowing users to stay engaged while cooking or spending time with family. With Spotify integration, users can listen to their favorite music or podcasts directly from their fridge.9 SmartView Mirroring enables seamless screen sharing from smartphones or Samsung TVs, and the dedicated gallery feature lets families display their favorite photos, adding a personal touch to the kitchen.

The Next Generation of Refrigeration

The 4-Door Refrigerator is designed to meet the needs of modern households with its innovative features.10 The 9” AI Home applied on select models allows the refrigerator to integrate seamlessly with the smart home ecosystem. Models that incorporate Hybrid Cooling technology11 keep produce fresh for even longer, while also allowing extra space12 by utilizing a peltier module that is compact in size for cooling. By utilizing the conventional compressor and the Peltier module together, AI Hybrid Cooling is capable of providing additional cooling whenever necessary, such as when the internal temperature increases or when AI predicts a potential rise.13 When users put in a large amount of groceries after shopping or open the door multiple times in the summer, the Peltier module will assist the compressor to maintain a consistent internal temperature.

The 4-Door Refrigerator also comes in Kitchen Fit design, allowing agile installation that requires only a tiny gap of just 4mm from the sides and 20mm from the top. Also, the refrigerator’s doors have been enhanced with SpaceMax insulation technology that uses less amount of high-efficiency insulation, increasing the space in the doors by 56% compared to previous models equaling 10L in capacity.14 Users can also enjoy convenience with the wide opening door that opens more than 90 degrees, and the food showcase to store frequently used items.

The 4-Door French Door Refrigerator, launching in North America, is available in various configurations, including a 32” Family Hub and a 9” AI Home. This flexibility allows users to choose the best fit for their kitchen. The Auto Open Door15 feature ensures hassle-free accessibility with just a gentle tap, making it accessible to everyone in all kinds of situations to effortlessly access the inside of the fridge. It also has a Beverage Center that includes a water dispenser and a 1.4L Auto-Fill Water Pitcher that is dishwasher safe16 and BPA free.17 Apart from ensuring that fresh, filtered water is always available, the pitcher also allows users to infuse their water with fruits and herbs.

The Side-by-Side Refrigerator also offers multiple screen options, including the 21.5” Family Hub and 9” AI Home.18 The model, featuring an Auto Open Door that opens up widely makes it simpler to reach stored items,19 is designed for users who prioritize easy access and organization. Select European models are equipped with Hybrid Cooling technology — as seen in the 4-Door refrigerator — to maintain freshness by preventing temperature fluctuations.

All three types of refrigerators come with the AI Energy Mode feature, allowing users to reduce energy consumption by up to an additional 10%.20 Users can choose to activate the mode always or when electricity bills are expected to exceed the preset target.

With these latest innovative solutions, Samsung continues to push the boundaries of the connected kitchen, transforming the refrigerator into an intelligent hub that enhances food management, smart home integration and entertainment. By seamlessly blending AI-enabled convenience with energy efficiency, Samsung is redefining how users interact with their appliances and bringing the future of the smart home to life.

1 A Wi-Fi connection and a Samsung account are required to access the AI Home, our network-based service, including apps, and other smart features available through your refrigerator. 18 Available in Europe, Southeast Asia, China, the Middle East, Africa and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).
19 You can select the door opening level using the SmartThings App (SmartThings is available on Android and iOS devices. A Wi-Fi connection and a Samsung account are required). The ‘Wide-open’ option automatically opens the door by an angle of 80 degrees or more, but the door does not close automatically. The ‘Semi-open’ option reduces the force required to open the door, and automatically closes the door after a certain period of time if the door is left open. The actual angle that the doors open may vary due to the installation circumstances and usage conditions, like storing heavy items in the door bins.
20 The test results are based on a comparison of the factory setting temperature when using AI Energy mode and without using AI Energy mode. Results may vary depending on the usage conditions and patterns. AI Energy Mode can be activated in SmartThings Energy, which is available on Android and iOS devices. SmartThings Energy requires Wi-Fi connection and a Samsung account.

Samsung Electronics today announced a multi-year partnership with Instacart, collaborating to add a new and convenient way for consumers in the U.S.1 to shop for groceries directly from the screens of their Samsung Bespoke refrigerators.2 Through the integration of Samsung’s proprietary food recognition technology (AI Vision Inside3) together with Instacart’s advanced product-matching API,4 the partnership will enable a simple, convenient and technology-driven grocery shopping experience for our consumers.

Starting with 2025 Bespoke refrigerator models with different types of screens — including the 32” AI Family Hub+ and the new 9” AI Home — and AI Vision Inside, the new functionality will enable consumers to replenish their favorite grocery items conveniently through Instacart by leveraging the Vision AI food recognition technology. With AI Vision Inside, consumers can not only manage their food inventory, but going forward, the experience extends further by enabling replenishment through Instacart, directly from the refrigerator.

“Samsung is working tirelessly to enable a more convenient home experience for our users with innovative technologies,” said Jeong Seung Moon, EVP and Head of the Consumer Experience Team for the Digital Appliances (DA) Business at Samsung Electronics. “The combination of Samsung’s key technology and Instacart’s outstanding online grocery shopping platform will be a great example of how partnership can create a new level of convenience.”

“We’ve all dreamt of a refrigerator that could replenish itself, and now thanks to this partnership with Samsung, that’s no longer the stuff of science fiction,” said Daniel Danker, Chief Product Officer at Instacart. “With the Instacart Developer Platform that will power this seamless integration, Samsung Bespoke refrigerator owners will be able to place grocery orders and easily restock empty fridge shelves via same-day delivery through Instacart from their favorite local grocery retailers.”

The new Instacart experience will also roll out to existing AI Family Hub+ units (equipped with AI Vision Inside) via over-the-network (OTN) firmware updates during 2025.5 This is another example of Samsung’s Smart Forward updates, which provides added value to our consumers by enhancing the appliances they already own. The partnership with Instacart is the latest step forward in Samsung’s journey to add value to the user experience by working hand in hand with other forward-thinking technology leaders.

Samsung Electronics today announced it will showcase its first Air to Water Heat Pump lineup for North American households at CES 2025. Following availability in Europe, Samsung plans to target the North American market with its Air to Water Heat pump — which features a slim design, AI Home,1 and reliable performance — paving the way for the expansion of these products into the global market.

“It is a great privilege to showcase our latest Air to Water Heat Pump lineup at CES 2025,” said Hang Seok Choi, VP and Head of the Air Solution Business Team for the Digital Appliances Business at Samsung Electronics. “As there is an increasing demand for this new heating system in the North American market, we are excited to build upon our existing expertise based on years of previous experiences, to introduce convenient, powerful solutions to our customers, meeting these requirements.”

A New Consumer Experience

Samsung plans to introduce two types of Slim Fit EHS ClimateHub indoor units to the market: the ClimateHub Mono and the Hydro Unit Mono. The ClimateHub Mono has an integrated water tank, while the Hydro Unit Mono is a wall-mounted unit without a water tank. Along with them, the EHS Mono R32 HT Quiet outdoor unit, which is designed with low noise as low as 35dB(A)2 and uses R32 refrigerant3 will be introduced to the market. Of these three products,4 the ClimateHub Mono and the EHS Mono R32 HT Quiet will be displayed at CES 2025.

As Samsung’s first household-use Air to Water Heat Pump products to be introduced in the North American market, these offerings stand out for their unique capabilities and usability.

The indoor Slim Fit EHS ClimateHub units come with the 7” AI Home,5 an expansive screen that significantly improves convenience. It allows users to intuitively control the temperature and settings. Additionally, users can monitor the status and energy usage6 of connected solar photovoltaic (PV) using the zone overview, as well as control other SmartThings-connected appliances.7

A slim fit design8 of the units allows them to be installed in various locations and seamlessly coordinates with anywhere in the house. Measuring 600mm and 350mm in depth respectively, the ClimateHub Mono9 and the Hydro Unit Mono10 can be installed in a variety of spaces and are particularly suitable for multi-unit dwellings and apartments. Despite the slim fit design, key components like magnetic filters, three-way valves and an expansion vessel for space heating are all included as standard features to ensure timely installation.

Technologies Designed for Efficient Heating Experiences

Both the indoor and outdoor units are designed to achieve optimal performance. First, the indoor unit places a primary emphasis on reducing thermal loss during internal hot water supply operations. By designing a large heat transfer area of the ClimateHub’s tank coil and using three layers of insulation, Samsung has reduced tank heat loss.

Furthermore, the EHS Mono R32 HT Quiet has undergone meticulous engineering to ensure reliable performance even in temperatures as low as -30°C.11 It maintains its stable performance in extremely cold temperatures thanks to the new Scroll Compressor, which compresses refrigerant at much higher pressure, and Flash Injection Technology, which increases the flow of refrigerant. These improvements enable the unit to achieve 100% heating performance in temperatures as low as -25°C12 and consistently supply users with hot water up to 70°C in temperature as low as -15°C.13

Finally, the units further benefit users by supporting AI Energy Mode. Once Slim Fit EHS ClimateHub units are connected to SmartThings Energy,14 users can activate the AI Energy Mode to actively reduce energy use by up to 17%.15

Availability

Samsung started selling its EHS lineup in 2009 and the products are currently available in more than 40 European countries. The company plans to introduce the EHS Mono R32 HT Quiet and new Slim Fit EHS ClimateHub units, equipped with AI Home in the North American market next year.

1 AI Home refers to the 7’’ LCD screen on the product. Does not mean all services available on the AI Home are AI or generate information or outcome using AI. Certain functions accessible through the AI Home utilize AI-based algorithms, which may be updated periodically to improve accuracy. AI-based algorithms may generate incomplete or incorrect information.
2 Based on internal testing of the EHS HTLN outdoor units. The noise level is measured 3m away from the front of the outdoor unit, in an anechoic room with an outside temperature of 7°C. Results may vary depending on environmental factors and individual use.
3 Global Warming Potential (GWP) of R32=675.
4 Product features may be subject to change at the time of launch.
If you choose not to log-in, you will not be able to enjoy any features available on AI Home, such as the services available on the SmartThings App.
6 Requires a connection between the EHS and PV system and is activated using the PV function in AI Home.
7 Requires a Samsung account. Appliances must be connected to the Wi-Fi network and registered in the SmartThings App.
8 Dimensions: ClimateHub Mono = 600(W)x1,850(H)x598(D)mm, Hydro Unit Mono = 530(W)x840(H)x350(D)mm.
10 AE*****YDEG/** is 350mm deep. The exact model code can be changed at the time of model launch.
11 It delivers a 100% heating performance in temperatures as low as -25°C, based on a leaving water temperature of 55°C. (Not available on the 12kW and 14kW single-phase models.) At -30°C, it delivers a 72~87% of heating performance, based on a leaving water temperature of 55°C.
12 Based on a leaving water temperature of 55°C. Not available on the 12kW and 14kW single-phase models.
13 Leaving water temperature, when the outdoor temperature is between -15°C ~ 43°C. Results may vary depending on the actual usage conditions.
14 A Wi-Fi connection and a Samsung account are required.
15 Based on internal testing using a 5kW model (AE050CXYDEK/EU), compared to not using AI Energy mode. Reduces the energy consumption of supplying sanitary hot water by up to 40% and space heating by up to 10%. Results will vary by model. AI Energy mode can be activated via the SmartThings App. A Wi-Fi connection and a Samsung account are required. Its activation status can be monitored in the Zone Overview screen of AI Home.

Samsung Electronics today announced that it is bringing its advanced screen technology to a broader range of home appliances, representing a bold step forward in realizing its “Screens Everywhere” vision. This year, Samsung is upgrading the kitchen experience by launching a refrigerator with a new 9” AI Home1 screen, and adding the 7” AI Home1 to the Wall Oven.2 Screen options are being widened for consumers in the laundry category as well, with the 7” AI Home applied to the Bespoke AI Laundry Combo now being included in the newly launching Bespoke AI Washer and Dryer set. Samsung is showcasing these new products at the upcoming CES 2025.

“We have been leading the development of screen appliances to elevate our consumers’ experiences with innovative features and functionalities”, said Jeong Seung Moon, EVP and Head of the R&D Team for Digital Appliances Business at Samsung Electronics. “Along with those efforts towards enhancing usability, we are expanding consumer options by developing screens of different sizes and products that effectively incorporate them.”

Diversifying Bespoke Refrigerators With a New, Compact Screen and Enhanced Features

By offering a diverse selection of products with varying screen sizes, Samsung aims to enhance usability for consumers while also realizing an interconnected smart home. Supporting voice control via Bixby,3 the screens on Samsung appliances showcase essential information about the task such as internal temperature or washing cycle information, in an intuitive and straightforward way. Moreover, the Map View feature is a key differentiator, allowing the screens to function as simplified, convenient control hubs where users can monitor and control their connected appliances4 from a single screen. Lastly, the screens provide various entertainment features through internet connection, expanding the roles played by home appliances within the domestic environment.5

In the kitchen, to complement the refrigerators with 21.5” and 32” Family Hubs6 that are currently available, Samsung is unveiling the Bespoke Refrigerator with 9” AI Home, which caters to consumers seeking the Family Hub’s advanced features in a more compact size. Strengthening its role as a controlling hub, the updated Map View allows users to select modes for connected devices4 like the air conditioner and robot vacuum,7 and can be accessed directly from the home screen. Moreover, the 9” AI Home also functions as a hub for controlling third-party smart devices that are compatible with SmartThings, like lights and smart plugs.8 Alongside these functionalities, users benefit from seamless access to features like SmartThings Energy and built-in entertainment options.

Expanding Screen Options Across Various Product Categories

As an expansion of the availability of the AI Home screens in laundry products, Samsung is introducing the Bespoke AI Laundry Combo’s 7” AI Home screen to this year’s new Bespoke AI Washer and Dryer set.
