From improved productivity capabilities to unique camera experiences, the latest update¹ promises to take the Galaxy Fold to the next level. Here’s everything you need to know about the update.

Power Up Your Productivity

Whether you are multitasking or working on the go, the latest update helps you get things done faster with the Galaxy Fold.

Instead of spending time finding the apps you need, App Pair lets you launch up to three of your favorite apps together in your preferred split screen layout.

This feature can be accessed via the Edge Panel, which combines the Multi-Window Tray with Edge Panel for improved convenience. All you need to do is swipe the side of the screen² to see up to 22 of your favorite apps. The arrangement of the Multi-Active Window layout can now also be done horizontally, giving you more flexibility for multitasking.

If you need more screen space to work with, the updated Samsung DeX lets you easily connect the Galaxy Fold to a Smart TV wirelessly.³ All you need to do is tap on the Samsung DeX icon in the quick panel.

Once the two devices are connected, you can customize the second screen to suit your needs with screen zoom and various font size options. You can even use the Galaxy Fold as a touch pad to control the second display with multi-finger gestures.

Maximum Flexibility for Your Shoots

The Galaxy Fold’s unique form factor is designed to help you capture photos and videos exactly the way you want. The latest update brings even more flexibility to this innovative camera experience.

Shooting with Auto framing is like having a dedicated cameraman always by your side. Depending on how many people are in front of the camera, the feature automatically zooms in or out to ensure the Galaxy Fold captures everything. It can even track motion to keep the subject centrally framed.

Capture View Mode gives you the option to check your shots as you shoot. It shows you up to five of the latest photos or videos on the left side of the Main Screen, while giving you a preview of your next shot on the other half.

Dual Preview enhances collaboration between the subject and the photographer by showing a preview of the image on both the Cover and Main Screen of the Galaxy Fold. This feature also works with video and can be activated in Pro Video mode.

The latest update lets you maximize the power of the Galaxy Fold’s rear camera, even when you are taking selfies. Simply open the Camera app on the Cover Screen and activate Rear Cam Selfie. This feature allows you to use the high-resolution rear camera and its wide range of advanced functions for selfies.

Pro Video Mode on the Galaxy Fold now comes with more shooting (21:9 ratio and 24fps video) and assistant functions (histogram, focus peaking), while Single Take lets you capture up to 15 seconds of content to deliver a selection of best moments in photos and video.

Stay Seamlessly Connected

Forget about repeating long, complicated Wi-Fi passwords to your friends and family. With the Galaxy Fold, you can now directly share the password of the Wi-Fi you are connected to trusted Galaxy devices that are near you.

The updated Wi-Fi feature can also show you the speed of nearby connections (Very Fast, Fast, Normal Slow) to help you easily find one that’s suitable.

Before the Galaxy Fold, only one of these things could be done at one time, but with Multi Window, you can now open up a news app, reply to that urgent email and play the latest episode of your favorite TV show, all at the same time.

Say you’re reading the news and spot a headline you want to share with a friend. Simply by opening up the messenger app from the Galaxy Fold’s edge panel and dragging the app into a Multi Window slot, you can share it instantly without having to leave the news page so that you’re ready to dive back in.

#2: Working While On-The-Go

We’ve all had it happen – you’ve just made your way out of the office after a day of work, when an email notification comes through with documents marked ‘urgent’. Previously, you might have had to turn right back around and find the nearest computer, but with the Galaxy Fold, you can work on any urgent email right where you stand.

Thanks to the Galaxy Fold’s spacious display, once you’ve opened up the device, you can easily simultaneously read your email and open up your chosen document editing app to quickly and easily do what you need to. Harnessing Multi Window means that not only can you switch between your mail app and document app without losing any crucial information, but you can also easily and efficiently message colleagues for clarification, as well, thanks to Multi Window’s three window support.

#3: Staying On Track in Meetings

A key part of any meeting is the huge amount of information being shared within the walls of one room, and it can often feel like you don’t have enough hands to be able to take notes, refer to reference materials and co-ordinate your schedule all at once.

Thanks to Multi Window, Galaxy Fold users can simultaneously open up their Calendar, Samsung Notes and document viewer apps and work seamlessly between them – all while not missing a beat of what is being discussed. By dragging the edges of each app, you can adjust the size of each window so that whichever app needs top priority can have it with just a few swipes.

#4: Going to Meet Friends

Visiting new places is always an adventure, especially when they’re suggested by your friends, and the rise of navigation apps has made exploring your city that much easier. But sometimes when we’re following the map route to lead us to our desired dinner spot in a new neighborhood, conversations are still happening and co-ordination has to occur.

With the Galaxy Fold, users can use Multi Window to keep one eye on their route with a navigation app and one eye on a group chat to let people know you’re on your way or confirm menu orders. Thanks to Multi Window, you’ll never risk losing your way again by having to leave your map to message a friend back; you can seamlessly do both at the same time.

1. Effortlessly View Photo Collections with Tag

The Galaxy Note10 and Note10+’s pro-grade camera means that you’ll be taking lots of pictures. If you want to show off your photography skills—with, say, a few of your amazing sunset shots—it can be a bit tiresome to scroll through your Gallery to pick them all out. So, try out the Galaxy Note10 and Note10+’s upgraded Tag experience for viewing collections of similar pictures. A new icon, accessible directly from the toolbar when viewing a photo in the Gallery, takes you straight to the Tag feature. Tag also harnesses Samsung-developed optical character recognition technology, which intelligently recommends specific keywords for specific images.

2. Take Screenshots Three Different Ways

The Galaxy Note10 and Note10+ introduced a Screen Recorder to take videos of what’s on your screen—but what about screenshots? With the Galaxy Note10 and Note10+, you have three ways to take a picture of what’s on your screen. First, you can quickly and simultaneously press the power and volume down buttons. Second, you can swipe the side of your hand from left to right on the display. Third, you can use the S Pen. Take out the S Pen and tap on Smart Select. Then, choose from a square, rectangle, circle, free-drawing tool, or even a GIF tool, to select your screenshot. Or, tap the Square/Pin icon to take a screenshot and have that image automatically pinned to your display.

3. Make the Most out of the Always On Display

We use the camera to tell our stories and we use the phone’s color to match our style choice—shouldn’t our lock screen also help us express ourselves? Galaxy Note10 and Note10+’s Always On Display not only provides you with time, notification and battery information at a glance, but can also be tailored to your preferred clockface style. 4. Scan Documents with Ease Using Your Phone Camera

Sometimes, we need to scan a document in high-quality, but there’s just no scanner to be found. With your Galaxy Note10 and Note10+, this common problem is a thing of the past. Enable the ‘Document scan’ option in the Camera settings > Scene optimizer menu once the Camera app is open to use your Galaxy Note10 and Note10+ to efficiently send documents.

5. Make the Edge Panel Your Own

Everyone has different contacts they get in touch with the most and different apps they use the most. So that you can easily access your favorites, faster, the Galaxy Note10 and Note10+ come with a customizable edge panel. By dragging the tab on the right-hand side of your Galaxy Note10 and Note10+’s screen, you can access this shortcut tray of useful apps and services. 6. Stay Productive On the Go With One-Handed Mode

The Note series pioneered the large-screen smartphone, and now today, the Galaxy Note10 and Note10+ are known for their immersive, edge-to-edge displays. In fact, at 6.8”, the Galaxy Note10+ offers the Note’s biggest screen ever. But sometimes, situations arise when you only have one hand available to use your phone, and it can be hard to reach something at the top of the screen. To make things more convenient, the Galaxy Note10 and Note10+ offer One-handed mode. Just go to Settings > Advanced features > Motions and gestures > One-handed mode. This feature moves all of your content and information to one area of the screen that you can easily reach with just your thumb, so you can tap and type easily when holding your phone in one hand.

7. Get Intelligent in Order to Save Power

There is nothing more annoying than needing to use your phone at the end of a busy day and seeing that your battery is running low. Even though the Galaxy Note10 and Note10+ come with an all-day, intelligent battery, power users who push their phone to the max might need a little extra help making it back home before they hit 0%. To help keep you powered up, the Galaxy Note10 and Note10+ feature Adaptive Power Saving Mode. Found in the Settings > Device care section, Adaptive Power Saving Mode uses machine learning to monitor and learn about how you use your device and automatically puts your device to Medium power-saving mode if it detects that you are using your phone more than usual.

Bigger Is Better

When the dual edge screen was first introduced, it distinctly illustrated Samsung’s innovation prowess. With it, users were able to quickly connect with the most important people in their lives, and could more easily access their favorite apps all in one place. But, at 260 pixels wide, there were limitations in how much content could be displayed on the edge panel.

Now, however, the company has enhanced the user experience of the edge panel by making it an option for users to widen it to an impressive 550 pixels, thus enabling more content to be displayed. This upgrade has also allowed for the addition of new features, as well as improvements of existing ones.

Unique Usability

The edge screen all but eliminates the need to navigate disorganized home screens and continuously open and close apps. One way it does this is through edge panels, quick access screens that provide shortcuts to information and tasks. Users can now customize up to nine panels, including the People edge and Apps edge panels.

People edge lets users arrange their favorite contacts in a single easy-to-access area. Previously, the feature displayed small photo icons of the user’s top five contacts which linked to contact profiles; now, however, contact names are displayed below the photographs for a more intuitive experience. Furthermore, a shortcut to the settings menu has been included for easier navigation.

Likewise, Apps edge—a panel of one’s most frequently used apps—has also been updated. With all the expanded space of the upgraded edge panel, users can now add ten apps instead of five. In addition to single apps, users can add entire folders for maximum smartphone organization.

The newly added Tasks edge panel provides shortcuts to often used app features and tasks, like creating an event in S Planner, setting an alarm or composing a text message. A brand new Quick tools, which includes a ruler, compass and customizable flashlight, has also been added in a separate panel to simplify one’s everyday life.

Users can now access all these panels more easily by customizing the Edge handle—the fixed tab that opens the edge panel. All users need to do is simply adjust the place, size and transparency of the Handle in the Settings menu according to their preference. The Handle will not interfere with any apps in use, so users are free to work or play without the edge panel getting in the way.

Open Collaboration for Even More Content

Through Samsung’s ever-growing partnerships, as well as the release of its software development kit (SDK) for the Galaxy S6 edge screen, the company has established a diverse collection of content especially for the wider edge panel. With the strengthening of this third party ecosystem, users can experience a differentiated and richer edge experience.

Among the new edge content that users can download through the Settings menu is Naver Shopping, which was added in response to the growing trend of mobile shopping. And Naver V — an app that features personal video broadcasts of South Korean celebrities—is available in Asian nations where K-pop is popular.

Additionally, Yahoo! Finance, Yahoo! Sports and Yahoo! News come pre-equipped with the OS upgrade, delivering the latest stock reports, the scores of the big games and the biggest headlines right to the edge screen.

Samsung’s feature-rich edge screen display continues to push the envelope with its recent updates. But this is only a sign of what’s to come, as Samsung will continue to refine and enhance the unique edge not only on its existing devices, but also on ones to come.
