Mikael Krekula, a professional wilderness guide based in Kiruna, Sweden, was out on the frozen Kalix River testing sonar equipment when his Galaxy S23 Ultra slipped from his glove and fell into an ice fishing hole. The device plunged into the freezing water, settling roughly three meters below the surface.

Over the course of five hours, he drilled eight surrounding ice holes to get a better angle to the phone and used a series of improvised tools — birch branches, a shovel and a plastic bag on a stick — to try and reach the device.

“I could see my phone through the ice. It wasn’t lost completely — just barely out of reach,” he explained. “Eventually, I drove home, grabbed a summer fishing net, tied the net to a birch rod and came back — and within five minutes, it was in my hands.”

Remarkably, the Galaxy S23 Ultra powered on immediately, displaying three missed calls. There was no need for a reboot or drying procedures.

“We let it sit overnight in the cabin just to be safe, but the next day it was still working perfectly,” Mikael added. “And it continues to function just like it did before the incident.”

Samsung Electronics today announced that it plans to open Samsung Game Portal, an online store specializing in gaming, on Samsung.com in more than 30 countries around the world, starting with the U.S., the U.K., Germany, France, Italy, Spain and Brazil in late June.

The Game Portal is a one-stop online store for gamers designed to significantly increase the convenience of browsing and purchasing products such as smartphones, TVs, gaming monitors and high-performance SSDs. Up to this point, 61 shelter dogs have been adopted — a strong start in the effort to find homes for furry friends in need.

In order to bring the initiative to life, Samsung created special mobile pavilions called Studio23, visiting cities in Croatia, Slovenia and Serbia in order to engage with local communities. Decorated with captivating images from the campaign, the Samsung Studio23 mobile pavilions also function as social hubs for visitors and their canine companions, offering various activities including dog photography zones, dedicated play areas and a space to experience the Galaxy S23 series’ powerful camera first-hand. Over 7,000 people have visited these mobile pavilions so far with additional attendees expected in the coming weeks.

“Chia came into my life unexpectedly,” recalled Noemi Žonta, a Slovenian influencer participating in the campaign, and explained how she found her furry life companion. “I found her when I was visiting the island of Sardinia. Despite her past traumas, she has grown into a wonderful puppy. I cannot imagine a better companion. She goes with me everywhere — when I’m traveling, working, relaxing, and even doing my hobbies.”

To prove the true power and detail of its ISOCELL image sensor, Samsung took to the streets of London to showcase photos captured with the 200MP technology in brilliant resolution on one of Europe’s biggest billboards. “There aren’t many locations in the world more iconic and exciting than the bright lights of London’s Piccadilly”, said Annika Bizon of Marketing and Omnichannel at Samsung Electronics U.K. “So where better to demonstrate the power of our Samsung technology while empowering consumers to have fun at the same time? It’s so important to demonstrate in an accessible and imaginative way like this, what innovations can help people really achieve.”

To bring this to life, Samsung placed an old photobooth with the Galaxy S23 Ultra device to capture epic moments using the ISOCELL HP2 image sensor with the 200MP inside the camera — and then shared these on the big screen, showcasing how more pixels can truly mean epic details. Ran Chae of Global Marcom team at Samsung Electronics’ Device Solutions Division explained: “We took the 200MP photos captured in the booth and posted them up on London’s enormous Piccadilly Circus billboard that reaches nearly 700 inches in height, and then zoomed in about 8.5x to show that the photo quality in every pixel remains true to life even when dramatically zoomed in.”

Over 100 content creators that represented diverse communities across the U.K. took part in the event, along with members of the public and competition winners. Each had their photo taken inside the booth, where the advanced 200MP ISOCELL HP2 image sensor captured their epic moment in ultra-high resolution to be shared on the iconic Piccadilly billboard. The photobooth was well attended over the weekend with more than 200 visitors and over 800 photos captured from inside the photobooth across the two days.

Prominent photography creators particularly enjoyed the opportunity to be the subject for once as they tested out the ISOCELL technology. Photographer Chris Priestley — who shared content throughout the event with his 1.3M social followers — explained: “As a photographer, I’m usually behind the camera, so it’s been amazing to be on the other side and to see the sheer quality of the technology on myself.”

People all around the world were eager to take part as their submitted photos displayed in ultra-high resolution on the big screen. Content creators in the U.S., India, China and Germany captured beautiful self-portraits or landscape scenery, which were brought to life on the billboard with 200MP technology. Valentina Pahde, who attended from Germany and shared content with her 844K followers, gushed: “To be photographed in a photobooth and to see my picture in XXL size on the billboard at Piccadilly Circus … I still can’t believe it!”

Alongside the photobooth event, Samsung also ran a photo competition for Galaxy S23 Ultra users in the U.S. and U.K. to drive further buzz on social media. Entrants took to Instagram to #SharetheEpic by capturing a 200MP photo using their Galaxy S23 Ultra device for a chance to see it live on the world-famous billboard. Entrants submitted a variety of images — from landscapes to family and friends, beloved pets and even selfies. Overall, 14 users’ photos were selected from the pre-event competition. Several winners attended in-person to experience the epic details of their 200MP photo live on the big screen, as one shared: “I’m really excited to see what 200MP looks like on the big screen … Wow, that’s my photo — it’s so clear!”

Members of the public were also excited to join Samsung in the photobooth for the chance to see their image shown in magnificent detail on the billboard, with many in awe of the image clarity: “200MP, wow — the quality of the new Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra camera is incredible — can you send me that?”

Crowds cheered as the ISOCELL-captured images went live in epic details — focusing in on lifelike details in exceptional definition, from hair to freckles. A crowd favorite was when content creator Josh Ryan, who shares lifestyle content on his modelling career, took to the screen: “It was so exciting seeing Josh Ryan in person that I actually stayed around to see him on the big screen. He was so zoomed in — the detail was incredible!” Josh also shared his experience with his 3.6M social followers after the event.

Visitors were thrilled to capture every moment of the event. Technology creator Cadea, who shared an Instagram grid post of the event with her 25K followers, praised the product and experience: “It was incredible to be a part of such an innovative, once in a lifetime experience and to get hands-on with the products — very humbling to see the insane level of detail their cameras can capture on the big screen!”

Consumers on Instagram and TikTok were equally astonished to see the epic details illustrated on the huge billboard, resulting in strong engagement online. Lifestyle creator Fats Timbs, who shared her experience of the event through an Instagram reel, received hundreds of positive comments, including one on the zoomed-in detail of her “lashes” and other close-up details shown on the big screen.

Samsung created a specially designed photobooth at a landmark location and installed a 200MP mobile image sensor in the camera so people could see for themselves how powerful ISOCELL sensors can be and how detailed photos taken with these sensors can be. At Piccadilly Circus in London, the photobooth gave those who took pictures a printout that said, “Look up”. When they were leaving the photobooth, they saw the ultra-high resolution photo of themselves displayed on a 45 by 18 meter epic billboard at the Piccadilly Circus. Remarkably, when the photos were zoomed in on the billboard, they showed the quality of 200MP photos — all the lifelike details of their eyes, hair and skin.

What’s more, because the experience took place on one of the world’s most iconic billboards, attendees also stated that it was the once-in-a-lifetime moment they had dreamed of and their content went viral on social media.

And now Samsung is bringing the Piccadilly experience back to the huge screen this year with the Galaxy S23 Ultra with ISOCELL HP2. Creators will attend the experiential event and have their photos taken in the photobooth at Piccadilly Circus on April 15 and 16 (GMT). Samsung will also be running a 200MP photo competition in U.S. and U.K., where winners will have their winning ultra-high resolution 200MP photo displayed live on the big screen and a copy of the footage will also be shared with the winners who are unable to attend.

A 200MP image is 16 times bigger with 16 times more information than the 12.5MP image. This means that the image maintains its level of detail even after cropping. When zooming in on a photo for cropping, a photo typically appears blurry due to few image pixels. But this is not an issue with the Galaxy S23 Ultra. For example, even if a 200MP image is cropped in half, both vertically and horizontally, the resulting 50MP image maintains incredibly rich details. Furthermore, the ISOCELL HP2 utilizes an advanced deep learning algorithm to produce 200MP images with more accurate colors and details, made possible by the ISOCELL HP2. Every Pixel Tells a Story

To enhance the performance of each individual pixel of the ISOCELL HP2, Samsung enhanced the pixel structure to absorb more light than ever. Nightography: Light up the Night

The Galaxy S23 Ultra’s Nightography capabilities have improved the photography experience for users in darker environments. The Galaxy S23 Ultra features AI-enabled image signal processing technology that adjusts the saved data on the image sensor to improve the color tone and picture quality. Additionally, the ISOCELL HP2’s Tetra²pixel technology is an important enabler of the improved Nightography capability. In lower-light conditions, the ISOCELL HP2 merges neighboring pixels into one, allowing it to operate as a single 2.4um-sized pixel with 12MP for absorbing more light in a single pixel. This technology increases the light sensitivity of pixels to equip the Galaxy S23 Ultra to deliver clearer low-light photos with less noise.

Sharper Shots With Improved Autofocus

To clearly capture high-movement scenes with the Galaxy S23 Ultra, the ISOCELL HP2 features Super QPD technology for faster autofocus. With Super QPD, every pixel is utilized for phase detection, compared to only 3% of pixels in its 108MP predecessor. Jump Into the Metaverse With Galaxy in Latin America

To connect to the growing Metaverse user base, Samsung Electronics Latin America has released a new map in the popular online video game, Fortnite. The new map, called SmartCity S23 is designed around the characteristics of the Galaxy S product lineup.

As they explore the map and complete various quests in game, players can interact more closely with the Galaxy ecosystem and, more specifically, the Galaxy S23. Players can use the Galaxy S23 in game to zoom in on far away objects in high resolution, allowing them to easily spot hidden Easter eggs in the map, and can also use the Nightography feature to see in the dark. Additionally, for an extra layer of protection, players can toggle the Knox function.

The Samsung Showroom also displays the company’s sustainability efforts, including the use of recycled materials in Galaxy products and sustainable product packaging, giving players the ability to familiarize themselves with both the devices and Samsung’s eco-conscious values.

Igniting Gaming Passions in Southeast Asia and Oceania

In order to continue meeting consumer demands and industry trends, Samsung Electronics Southeast Asia and Oceania (SEAO) recently conducted an in-depth gaming survey in SEAO. The results of the survey, conducted in partnership with ONE Esports, found that seven out of 10 online consumers in the region consider themselves to be gamers.

The survey also found that across SEAO, the main reason people play video games is in order to relieve stress and to relax, with respondents gaming an average of seven hours a week.

To give gamers a new way to interact with the Samsung brand, Samsung Electronics Iberia has announced “Diamond Planet 23,” game server in the popular game Minecraft created by Spanish content creator @Regortread. Through the new server, the care of the new planet was promoted by recycling polluting matter. By recycling, the user got new items such as the Galaxy Map, Galaxy S23 Ultra in Minecraft and the chance to win a Galaxy S23 by cutting diamonds.

Gamers could also meet and interact with @Regortread and G∙NUSMAS, Samsung’s virtual avatar, in order to build a more technological and sustainable world.

Meeting, Greeting and Gaming With Galaxy Fans in Brazil

Galaxy users in Brazil were able to experience the latest Galaxy products firsthand at the Galaxy Experience in São Paulo city.

Visitors to the space in Brazil were treated to a gaming competition with Flakes Power(@FlakesPower), a popular Brazilian gaming streamer and a member of #TeamGalaxy, a diverse team of content creators. Many attendees flocked to watch the competition, with a queue forming hours before the event opened. The competition was filled with exciting action and gameplay, with the fastest participant in the competition awarded with a new Galaxy S23 Ultra 5G.

In addition to experiencing the latest Galaxy S23 5G lineup, visitors were encouraged to test out pairing the Galaxy S23 to other Galaxy devices, such as the Galaxy Watch5 or Galaxy Buds2 Pro, creating a seamlessly connected device experience.

An Epic Night of Galaxy in Romania

In celebration of the launch of the Galaxy S23 series in Romania, Samsung Electronics Romania launched its “Share the Epic from Night Land” event. A gaming universe with cyberpunk aesthetics, “Night Land” gave guests the ultimate opportunity to explore and experience the new impressive features of the Galaxy S23 series.

Samsung also lit up the night sky in Bucharest with a captivating drone show showing off the Galaxy S23 series. Capture Your Creativity With Samsung Galaxy Creator Collective

The Samsung Galaxy Creator Collective in the U.S. is returning for the second year. Designed to help both veteran and up-and-coming creators grow their platforms and develop their content, the Samsung Galaxy Creator Collective is helping connect viewers with top names in the industry.

On March 21 and 22, viewers can tune into a livestream on Samsung’s Twitch and YouTube channels and view more than 40 hours of content from top content creators and social platforms. Samsung Newsroom spoke with some of the Galaxy S23 series’ designers to learn more about how the new flagship range’s distinct design came about.

Premium Design With an Eco-Conscious Focus

Q. Please introduce the Galaxy S23 series’ design theme, “Create the Essentials”.

Our focus was on creating a design that boils down the essence of the smartphone. Resources can be wasted during the production process if too many unnecessary details are incorporated, so we made the decision to retain only the bare essential design features, based on the true identity of the device, for the basis of the Galaxy S23 series’ design.

Q. How is this theme in alignment with the general direction of the Samsung Galaxy design approach?

The Samsung Galaxy S series is a product lineup built on the true essence of what premium design can be. For the Galaxy S23 series, we deliberated extensively on what elements would not only make for a great design, but also how they would impact the world at large. Since we are living in a time where resource circulation and eco-conscious activities are at the forefront of daily life, we feel, too, that designers should reflect these values in their designs as the world over shifts its priorities towards eco-consciousness. Our design approach actively incorporates these ideas by making bold design decisions and incorporating future-forward ideas.

Q. What are the Galaxy design team’s goals towards creating designs that honor both people as well as the planet?

Our approach can be summarized in the form of five goals. Firstly, we aim to “create essence” through our designs for ultimate user satisfaction. Secondly, we want to “create circularity” to increase resource circulation efforts across the entire product lifecycle from manufacturing through to use and disposal. Thirdly, we aspire to “create standardization” in order to streamline our designs and subsequently reduce resource waste and manufacturing costs, and fourthly, to “create longevity” for our products by extending their life cycles and building easily fixable designs. Finally, we aim to “create transparency” through clear communication on the metrics of our design processes with a focus on eco-conscious activities. All Samsung Galaxy designers are guided by these five goals.

Q. Can you share more about how the design team is following through on these goals?

All projects we undertake keep the long-term vision in mind instead of short-term results, and we collaborate closely with the material sourcing teams to ensure our designs incorporate recycled materials. We also share our design strategy and plans with a range of internal stakeholders in order to further vitalize each project with different ideas and perspectives. We make sure to reflect on all the feedback we receive in order to keep eco-consciousness at front of mind when designing.

Q. How important is working with such an authentic mission in mind to the team?

We live in a world where the sharing of information is boundless, making temporary or short-term initiatives meaningless. We embrace the opportunity to think carefully about the values and efforts necessary required to accomplish our vision, as well as how best to communicate our approach transparently. This sense of mission as designers motivates us, and in time, we believe our customers, too, will come to understand and appreciate our determination.

The Samsung Galaxy Identity

Q. Can you share more about the two different designs, based on target audience, you developed for the Galaxy S23 series?

The Galaxy S23 and S23+ feature thin bezels that are slim and balanced on all sides for users to better focus on their screens, while a curved metal frame both protects the screen and provides the user with a comfortable grip. For the Galaxy S23 Ultra, we reduced the side edges and extended the flat surface of the device even further not only to provide better grip, but also to provide more space in which the S Pen can be utilized and ultimately maximize the benefits of the large screen for the user.

Our focus when designing was to convey a consistent design identity across all three devices through simple line design and planes that eliminate all unnecessary elements. Even the more subtle elements, such as the side keys, antenna slit, speaker hole and mic hole, had their size and layout meticulously adjusted to match this. Furthermore, the camera contour cut design seen on the Galaxy S22 and S22+ was removed, and all Galaxy S23 models are now fitted with a single camera design to provide even more consistency across the lineup.

Q. Would you agree that the Galaxy S23 series’ camera’s distinct design is as notable as its performance?

Since a lot of the smartphones currently on the market possess a similar shape, the camera design of a device has become a powerful way to distinguish a product and express brand identity. This is why the Samsung Galaxy S series’ camera layout has stayed the same since the Galaxy S21 series in order to foster a unique design identity.

The external part of the camera is a glossy metal while the internal parts have been processed with smooth hairlines in order to convey the camera’s powerful performance. The design of the inner elements of the camera, including the form, texture and color, were inspired by traditional camera lenses that minimize light reflection.

Future-Forward Color Swatches, Inspired by Nature

Q. Can you please introduce the main colors of the Galaxy S23 series?

Some of the Galaxy S23 series’ components were built using recycled materials¹ to contribute to resource circulation, so in order to further reflect this idea of environmental protection, the Galaxy S23 series comes in four colors that are based on a concept we call “Shades of Nature”. The Green shade is reminiscent of a tranquil forest while Phantom Black embodies the silent strength of nature, and the bright Cream shade is warming to look at while Lavender captures the energetic nature of everyday life.

Four additional colors that we developed under the concept of “Shades in Dream” — Lime, Skyblue, Red and Graphite² — will be exclusively available for devices purchased online. We wanted to provide online customers with some upbeat and futuristic shades that convey their brightness even when simply seen on-screen. The Lime shade, a brand-new addition to the Samsung Galaxy color lineup, has been designed to be a lively and captivating color swatch, and we hope our users will enjoy this new addition to the Samsung Galaxy color range.

Q. Can you speak more about the recycled materials used in part of the Galaxy S23 series’ back panel glass³?

Recycled materials based on plastic bottles can tend to have a yellowish tint to them, so we were initially worried that the coloring might end up too dark. However, after we processed the materials, we were surprised to find that this recycled material actually helped to create a more natural and organic look for the Cream shade.

Designed With the Planet in Mind

Q. Can you share more about the expansion of recycled materials involved in the Galaxy S23 series’ development?

The front and back glass panels of the Galaxy S23 series devices contain an average of 22% of pre-consumer recycled content, and the film that goes inside the back glass panel incorporates 80% of recycled plastics sourced from discarded plastic bottles. Furthermore, the inner components of the Galaxy S23 Ultra, including the S Pen cover and the lower speaker modules, have been built using recycled ocean-bound plastic sourced from discarded fishnets and plastic bottles, and aluminum byproducts from the manufacturing process were used for the S23 Ultra’s side and volume keys.

Furthermore, the packaging box is made from 100% recycled paper and the cover accessory also contains some recycled or biodegradable materials, meaning that all aspects of the Galaxy S23 series’ design reflect our commitment to the circulation of resources.

Q. What efforts have been made to create more eco-conscious packaging designs over the years?

We started to reduce the use of plastic in our packaging designs in 2018. When we first started, we had fourteen different packaging parts within a single package, and now for Galaxy S23 series, we have come a long way to ensure that only six packaging parts⁴ are included. We also made sure to leverage recycled paper materials when building the packaging box itself, and though paper materials made from 100% recycled pulp can be dusty and weaker than regular paper, we undertook extensive research, adjusted the manufacturing process and went through countless quality verification tests to find the perfect composition to use in our product packaging.

Q. What areas will you be focusing on for future package designs?

We will continue to focus on creating high-quality packaging that incorporates recycled paper materials. Our goal is to create our own paper materials made with pulp that we have developed ourselves, as well as to receive recognition for our eco-conscious designs.

Samsung is committed to pursuing innovation that does not take the planet’s resources for granted and that instead repurposes discarded materials in order to give them a second life, thus providing users with true, meaningful value. The Galaxy S23 Ultra also shoots clear and stable shots without motion shakes or blur thanks to an improved, wider OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) and VDIS (Video Digital Image Stabilization). The optical image stabilization (OIS) correction angle has increased twofold, giving users the ability to take photos with greater stability and less camera shake with the new model. Create Masterful Photos and Videos Unaffected by Darkness With Nightography

The Galaxy S23 Ultra’s Nightography has revamped the camera experience. All Galaxy S23 series models are capable of reducing noise of photos and videos even in dark environments thanks to image signal processing (ISP) that uses AI solutions. AI ISP creates photos or videos by adjusting the saved data on an image sensor and improves the detailed color tone and picture quality by overcoming the physical limitations of the camera.

The Palace of Fine Arts was quite dark because there was no light other than the building illumination.

Despite this, the Galaxy S23 Ultra’s Nightography perfectly captured the details of the illumination and the lines of the building reflected in the lake. The difference became much clearer when this photo was compared with another photo taken with a different smartphone.

Not only does Nightography perform strongly when capturing photos on the rear camera, it shines brightly when shooting selfies in the dark as well. A selfie taken in a place with no streetlight came out crisp and bright, capturing even the fine details of the hair.

After moving to another location, we experimented with Nightography in the square in front of the Ferry Building. While there was more light, it was now well into the night. This was no challenge for Nightography, allowing for an epic selfie to be taken in the heart of the city with the lights from the streetlights and the surrounding buildings in the background.

Stronger Pro-Level Camera Experience With Expert RAW

The Galaxy S23 Ultra’s Expert RAW app for experts and creators has also been further improved. As it is possible to take photos in up to 50MP with Expert RAW, the Galaxy S23 Ultra can capture and store images like no other smartphone.

An original (“raw”) file that is taken using the Expert RAW app contains rich color data. However, as a raw file contains a large amount of color data, each photo is large in size. The same is true for high-resolution photo and video files shot using the basic camera. For avid photographers, the Galaxy S23 Ultra has a large storage capacity of at least 512GB and offers “optimal performance,” hence the name Ultra. With optimal usability, users can save large, high-resolution files without the fear of running out of space or lowered quality.

Share the Epic: Welcome to a World of Galaxy

On the first floor of the experience hall, visitors were greeted by a display of digital signage in the middle, surrounded by a modern and clean exhibition filled to the brim with Galaxy innovation. Like a contemporary art exhibit, the space was decorated with an array of past generations of Galaxy smartphones. The exhibition space was themed around eco-conscious innovation, highlighting Samsung’s sustainable efforts toward building the foundation for a better tomorrow.

The exhibition showcased each of the recycled materials used for various parts of the Galaxy S23 series and how they were integrated into the final product, so visitors could understand how Samsung is shaping a more sustainable future through eco-conscious innovations.

“I think it’s extremely important for a company like Samsung, with the size of Samsung, to take care and be worried about sustainability,” said Bruno Martinez, chief editor at Showmetech in Brazil. “So, it’s really good to see the company doing that and taking firm steps all over the place. You can see this here with the Galaxy S23 line and the packaging.”

The Share the Epic experience zone had a space where visitors could view the four color options for the Galaxy S23 series and . Across Green, Lavender, Cream and Phantom Black, all visitors could find a shade that resonated with their unique style. The section also held a service center where visitors could get their questions answered and a space where they could enter giveaway contests.

Capture the Epic: Stunning Shots, Day or Night With Galaxy S23 Series

Visitors were over the moon with excitement for Galaxy’s S23 camera demonstration on the second floor of the Galaxy Experience Space. Snapping a larger-than-life astronaut and a dynamic interstellar background, the Galaxy S23 Ultra’s 200MP camera captured every photo with mind-blowing detail and ultra-high resolution.

With Samsung portrait studio, visitors could treat themselves and their friends to an impromptu photoshoot. The stunning shots were displayed on the walls of the Samsung Portrait Gallery, so every snapshot became a literal work of art.

Visitors also had to option to don their favorite goofy accessory and hit up the Galaxy Photo Booth, which used the Galaxy S23 Ultra to capture and customize the moment with friends.

The Galaxy Experience Space also brought Seoul’s vibrant, neon nightlife to San Francisco. Visitors captured striking photos and video at night like never before with the Galaxy S23 series’ improved Nightography. This was a favorite feature of numerous Galaxy Experience Space visitors, including Bruno Rosa, a journalist at O Globo in Rio, Brazil.

“Nightography is a very interesting and useful feature, especially for better pictures in dark areas,” said Bruno. “Not only if you take a classical picture, but if you take a selfie, you know, it’s very interesting for the customers.”

Nightography is only one of many enhanced camera capabilities on the Galaxy S23 series, which also includes clear and stable video shooting and enhanced selfies.

“I look forward to the camera experience on the new Galaxy S23 Ultra because the 200MP camera capacity on the phone cameras was cool and interesting,” Bruno added.

“The camera is one of the most important features on smartphones today, so I consider that to be a critical part of video editing. I can crop and adjust videos on my Galaxy S23 Ultra, which is hard to do on any other smartphone.”

Play the Epic: Next-Level Gaming With Galaxy S23 Ultra

Under the bright neon lights, the gaming zone between the first and second floors felt like the visitors were competing in an intense esports tournament. While at the Galaxy Experience Space, visitors participated in racing games and experienced the improved gaming performance of the Galaxy S23 series firsthand. With a powerful chipset, intelligent display and improved battery, the Galaxy S23 series brought gaming experiences to the next level.

“I saw an influencer play the racing game on his smartphone, and the screen seemed really fast and smooth,” said Alzbeta Gavendova, a video tech journalist from Slovakia at Mafra Slovakia. “I saw the gamer after he tested the products, and he said that the experience was fun, enjoyable and pleasant.”

Create the Epic: Expanding the Galaxy Ecosystem Through Connectivity

At Galaxy Unpacked 2023, Samsung brought the power of Ultra to its lineup of Galaxy Books with the release of the new Galaxy Book3 Series. The Galaxy Book3 Ultra is the most powerful Galaxy Book ever, supercharged with seamless connected experiences within the Galaxy ecosystem, including the new Galaxy S23 series. Visitors could also try out upgraded connectivity features, such as Samsung Multi Control and Quick Share.

Taking a tour of the SmartThings Zone revealed to visitors how their daily routine could be streamlined through SmartThings connectivity across their home appliances, including TVs, monitors, air purifiers and robot vacuum cleaners. The space, which resembled a modern living room, connected users to an ecosystem of smarter living solutions that allowed users to spend less time on chores and more time on the moments that matter most.

Galaxy S23 Ultra’s new 200MP Wide Camera captures high-resolution photos with a level of large-scale color and detail never before seen in a smartphone. What’s more, various pro-level features in the Expert RAW empower users to produce creative and cinematic films with ease.

Shooting in low light can be challenging for even the most advanced filmmakers, resulting in shaky, unusable footage with lots of noise. At Galaxy Unpacked, Samsung announced a multi-frame processing solution for the Galaxy S23 series camera to overcome this challenge. This dedicated algorithm combines multiple images across frames to reduce noise, letting anyone take vivid and optimized videos, even in the dark. Also, an enhanced AI object-aware engine and stereo depth map allow the camera to capture clear portraits in great detail, making night photos come to life. What’s more, with the enhanced Nightography and front camera, Galaxy S23 series users will be constantly asked to share their group photos and videos with friends.

The Galaxy S23 series has gotten a serious upgrade all across the board, from its enhanced 5000 mAh battery and its improved cooling system to its next-level camera performance and 41% faster GPU. The newly designed, 8-core CPU boosts the processing capabilities of the Galaxy S23 series by about 34%, which is ideal for multitasking. The optimized NPU architecture also uses an AI algorithm for an additional 49% boost, helping users capture stunning photos in low light.

Finally, Cristiano explained that the company aimed to create a new era of highly immersive XR experiences that blur the lines between the physical and digital worlds.

Hiroshi Lockheimer, Google’s SVP in charge of Platforms and Ecosystem, highlighted the importance of partnership, citing the rollout of the Rich Communication Services (RCS) Messaging Standard and Wear OS, both of which were close collaborations with Samsung. Moving forward, Hiroshi explained how Google would also be investing in groundbreaking XR technologies that will change the way we interact.

“An exciting space where Google has been investing in for a long time across both experiences and technology is AR and VR,” said Hiroshi. “These technologies are integral to the new phase of computing as it can change the way we interact with people and information to get things done in the real world.”
