At the United Nations Ocean Conference 2025 (UNOC)1 in Nice, held to mark World Oceans Day on June 8, Samsung Electronics hosted a premiere event for “Coral in Focus,” a new documentary that brings the global coral crisis into sharp relief. The event, held at Ocean House, featured a screening of the film followed by a panel discussion with leading voices in marine science, conservation and technology.

Directed by award-winning filmmaker Quentin van den Bossche, “Coral in Focus” follows scientists, engineers and local conservationists as they confront the urgent threats facing coral reefs — ecosystems that support up to a billion people and a quarter of all marine life. This work is part of a broader effort announced at Galaxy Unpacked in January 2025, where Samsung unveiled its partnership with Seatrees to support the restoration of coastal ecosystems with communities in Fiji, Indonesia and the United States, leveraging Galaxy camera technology to document and aid in the recovery of marine environments.

The documentary spotlights the urgent threats facing coral reefs and showcases how innovative technology and global collaboration can drive meaningful impact for marine ecosystems.

A Crisis Hidden Beneath the Surface

As ocean temperatures shattered records, more than 80% of the world’s reefs have suffered from mass bleaching. When corals bleach, they lose not just their color but their lifeblood — the algae that feed them. This crisis, largely invisible to the public, threatens biodiversity, food security and coastal resilience. Long-term climate action is crucial to safeguarding coral reefs, while short-term restoration efforts — informed and supported by innovative technology — can help them withstand rising ocean temperatures.

A Galaxy Smartphone That Sees Beneath the Waves

Samsung collaborated with Seatrees, a nonprofit dedicated to restoring marine ecosystems, and the Scripps Institution of Oceanography at the University of California, San Diego, a global leader in reef research, to pioneer a new frontier in coral restoration by exploring new, innovative solutions. Ocean Mode,2 a specialized camera feature created specifically for this partnership, was developed, introduced and validated in real-world conditions in Indonesia and Fiji. This process has created a credible foundation for broader scientific use while improving the overall accessibility of this new technology.

By enabling more scientists, conservationists and even citizen scientists with the ability to photograph, map and monitor reefs, Ocean Mode can help restoration efforts scale, and make it possible for anyone to protect more reefs, in more places, with greater impact.

Innovation With Measurable Impact

Ocean Mode transforms the Galaxy S24 Ultra into a mobile marine research tool, enabling vivid, high-resolution image capture even in challenging underwater conditions. It corrects the excessive blue and green hues typical of underwater photography, allowing for a more accurate representation of coral health and diversity.

The camera adjusts shutter speed and leverages multi-frame image processing to reduce motion blur caused by water movement or diver activity, ensuring sharp, detailed images. With its interval shooting capability, the device can automatically capture thousands of images in a single dive, dramatically improving both efficiency and consistency. These images can then be used to generate 3D models of coral reefs using technology known as photogrammetry, giving researchers a powerful way to visualize and study the drivers of the structure and health of reefs over time.

Over the past year, the project has delivered extraordinary results. With these coral restoration initiatives, 17 3D models of coral reefs have been made with the help of scientists and Samsung to analyze the impact of coral restoration efforts and validate the precision of Galaxy devices for photogrammetry. In total, Seatrees project partners planted more than 14,046 coral fragments to restore 10,705 square meters of coral reef habitat.

A Premiere With Purpose

The “Coral in Focus” premiere at Ocean House, in partnership with Project Everyone, brought together scientists, storytellers and sustainability leaders for a powerful conversation on the role that technology and global collaboration play in the future of coral reefs.

▲ “Ocean Mode became its own character in the documentary,” said Quentin van den Bossche, director of “Coral in Focus.” “This helped us illustrate some of the complex, specific challenges that reef conservationists encounter. And showing the difference between photos taken with and without Ocean Mode helped ground the technology in something visual and even emotional. This is where the impact of partnerships among companies, research institutes and nonprofits truly comes to life.”

▲ Michael Stewart, co-founder of Seatrees, holds a Galaxy S24 Ultra to show Ocean Mode Year 1 impact metrics — about 14,046 coral fragments planted across three restoration sites.

“A key focus of the coral restoration efforts is being able to monitor what’s working and what’s not. And that starts with capturing high-quality images of our supported reefs,” said Michael Stewart, co-founder of Seatrees. “Our local partners have really appreciated Ocean Mode because it has improved their ability to capture higher-quality images with Galaxy phones to make the 3D models created by the scientists at Scripps more accurate.”

▲ Attendees of the “Coral in Focus” documentary premiere included Swati Thiyagarajan, award-winning documentary filmmaker, environmental journalist with the Sea Change Project and associate producer and production manager of the Academy Award-winning “My Octopus Teacher”; Titouan Bernicot, founder and CEO of Coral Gardeners and National Geographic Explorer; and Beverly Camhe, writer, producer and entertainment executive.

“It’s essential for the private sector to be involved and help get impactful solutions off the ground,” said Lefteris Arapakis, co-founder of Enaleia. “We need all parties working together to protect and scale ocean conservation efforts. I’m especially excited about Ocean Mode — tools like this make our work more efficient and help us create greater impact.”

“It was a beautiful film, and I love how it left us with a sense of hope and something we could do about the problem,” said Dana Habib, associate at the Institute for Integrated Transitions.

Samsung Electronics is celebrating the one-year anniversary of its collaboration with Seatrees that leverages Galaxy camera to restore damaged marine ecosystems. Samsung has long been committed to protecting marine ecosystems. Beginning with the Galaxy S22 series, the company started recycling discarded fishing nets and incorporating the material into its smartphones. This practice has since expanded across the Galaxy ecosystem — including tablets, laptops and wearable devices. Building on these efforts, Samsung is now supporting coral reef restoration through technological innovation. Samsung Newsroom highlights how this initiative is part of the company’s broader commitment to the world’s oceans.

Supporting Marine Ecosystems Through Global Collaboration

Introduced at Galaxy Unpacked in January 2025, Coral in Focus is an initiative launched last year that supports local communities, including Fiji, Indonesia and the United States, to restore coastal ecosystems.

Samsung has partnered with Seatrees, a nonprofit organization dedicated to restoring marine ecosystems, to explore new, innovative solutions for coral reef restoration. The company has introduced Ocean Mode1 on the Galaxy S24 Ultra, an exclusive camera feature that enables vivid image capture even underwater. These images provide accurate visual data for marine researchers who create 3D photogrammetry models to continuously monitor and analyze coral reefs. Local partner organizations then use these findings to guide their on-site coral restoration efforts.

Ocean Mode: How Galaxy Camera Innovation Is Helping Restore Coral Reefs

Partners and local field teams use Ocean Mode to reduce the excessive blue tones common in underwater photography, allowing for a more accurate representation of coral colors. The feature also helps minimize motion blur through optimized shutter speed and multi-frame image processing. Additionally, the interval shooting function enables thousands of high-resolution coral images to be captured in a single session — improving both efficiency and image clarity.

With these coral restoration initiatives, photos taken with Ocean Mode have been used to produce 17 3D models of coral reefs to analyze the health and growth of reefs. In total, 11,046 coral fragments were planted to restore 10,705 square meters of coral reef habitat — roughly the size of 25 basketball courts.

Samsung Electronics today announced it has expanded its commitment to helping protect the world’s oceans in collaboration with like-minded partners. Building upon its efforts to address the pervasive challenge of plastic waste by transforming discarded fishing nets into a high-quality recycled material used in Galaxy devices, Samsung is taking a significant step forward with its latest project to restore the damaged marine ecosystems. The company is announcing support for a new initiative to equip local communities and experts on the front lines of coral reef restoration with mobile technology, bringing the challenges faced by this largely hidden ecosystem into focus.

Delivering Meaningful Progress for the World’s Oceans

Samsung is dedicated to protecting the environment for future generations, a commitment that drives the company’s innovation and positive impact for both people and the planet. This dedication has led Samsung to focus on enhancing ocean health with its innovative technology.

Starting with the Galaxy S22 series in 2022, Samsung incorporated recycled discarded fishing nets — also known as ghost nets — in Galaxy devices. Since then, Samsung has continued to scale its use of this recycled material across all Galaxy mobile products,1 aiming to mitigate the damage that ocean-bound plastic2 inflicts on fragile marine ecosystems.3

Now, Samsung is taking these actions one step further by joining forces the U.S.-based nonprofit organization Seatrees and the University of California San Diego to explore new, innovative solutions for reef restoration. The Galaxy camera technology provided to local coral reef restoration activists and researchers in coastal communities will aid their efforts to restore reefs impacted by climate change and pollution through improved monitoring of restoration success.

“We initiated our commitment to the world’s oceans when we transformed discarded fishing nets into key components of the Galaxy S22 series, which to date, has incorporated more than 150 tonnes of discarded fishing nets into key components of Galaxy devices,” said Stephanie Choi, EVP & Head of Marketing of Mobile eXperience Business at Samsung Electronics. “This year, we are furthering our commitment to the oceans by creating purposeful technology that helps protect and restore damaged marine ecosystems around the world.”

Together, with Seatrees, Samsung is giving new purpose to Galaxy technology to further innovative solutions that improve the health of the world’s oceans. The company is supporting non-profits and local community members working in Fiji, Indonesia and the United States with Galaxy technology to help restore coastal ecosystems. By leveraging mobile technology, these organizations aim to democratize and to create a more efficient process for coral restoration in reefs damaged by climate change, overfishing and ocean pollution, such as discarded fishing nets.

An Innovative Approach to Reef Monitoring and Restoration

Despite covering less than 1 percent of the ocean floor, coral reefs support approximately 25 percent of all marine life, making them one of Earth’s most biodiverse ecosystems.4 Millions of people around the world also rely on reefs as a source of food, income and coastal protection. At the current pace of decline, reefs are at risk of disappearing by 2050.5 To support the rapid development of coral reef stewardship projects globally, this initiative will provide advanced monitoring technology that leverages mobile devices as a readily-accessible technology platform.

While efforts to revive coral reefs have existed for decades, researchers are seeking new ways to improve this process. Scientists from UC San Diego’s Scripps Institution of Oceanography and local communities use photogrammetry6 to collect a variety of data — including photographs of coral — to analyze the health and growth of reefs. This allows them to then develop 3D models of the reef, helping researchers identify appropriate interventions that mitigate the effects of climate change on the corals.

▲ 3D model of coral reefs from photos taken by Galaxy

Accurate data is essential to researchers gaining a deeper understanding of how coral restoration efforts are affecting the reefs, and therefore help protect a greater number of reefs around the world. However, capturing accurate and vivid photos of coral reefs is not a simple task. Images can suffer from motion blur as divers swim over reefs capturing thousands of photographs, leading to less accurate data. Similarly, water absorbs warm colors like reds and oranges, also known as long wavelength light, distorting the accuracy of the captured images and resulting in photos that are darker and bluer than they appear to the naked eye.

Knowing that an accurate underwater camera is crucial to improving coral restoration efforts globally, Samsung collaborated to overcome these challenges by advancing Galaxy technology as a purposeful tool for coral restoration. Samsung developed a customized camera mode, called Ocean Mode,7 made exclusively for this partnership. Ocean Mode optimizes the native Galaxy camera to ensure efficient and high-quality image capture of coral reefs while underwater. It reduces motion blur and optimizes the camera’s white balance to enhance underwater content capture, ensuring accurate photos are sent to researchers. This, in turn, improves coral restoration efforts through improved analysis of restoration success.

“Design and implementation of coral reef restoration need to be informed by reliable information about what works and what doesn’t,” said Dr. Stuart Sandin, Marine Ecologist at Scripps Institution of Oceanography and Director of the Center for Marine Biodiversity and Conservation. “Mobile technologies offer an exciting opportunity to expand access to this information.”

“By building on technology that is both innovative and accessible, this collaboration has the potential to help bridge barriers and simplify the process for research and restoration, enabling more effective science-based stewardship at scale,” added Dr Eliah Aronoff-Spencer, Human-Centered Technologist and Director for UC San Diego’s Center for Health Design.

“This partnership represents a collective effort of people and organizations coming together to rebuild hope by restoring ocean ecosystems,” said Michael Stewart, Co-Founder and Director of Seatrees. “By collaborating with Samsung and UC San Diego, we can share their innovative tools to help local communities efficiently restore reefs at scale.”

Throughout 2024, Samsung supported coral restoration projects in regions that have suffered coral reef declines, including Bali, Indonesia; Viti Levu Island, Fiji; and Florida, USA and over 11,000 coral fragments having already been planted at these project sites. Committed to using technology for good, Samsung and its collaborators are united around a shared goal of restoring marine ecosystems and preserving the world’s oceans for future generations. Grounded in the spirit of open collaboration and by leveraging Samsung’s expansive scale, the organizations will continue to expand the initiative to more regions in the months ahead.

Pro-grade photos are no longer reserved for professional photographers with big cameras and even bigger lenses. That’s because using a Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra feels like having a photographer’s studio right in your pocket. With its cutting-edge camera hardware powered by the ProVisual Engine — Galaxy’s suite of AI-enhanced imaging tools — the flagship smartphone was engineered to deliver exceptional image quality on the move. Whether you’re shooting in challenging conditions or editing on the go, the Galaxy S24 Ultra is all you need to create studio-quality content.

Here are several ways the Galaxy S24 Ultra lets anyone feel like a true photography pro.

Everyday Pro

A true pro photographer has the power to capture the magic in any situation and the intelligence to turn any moment into a masterpiece. That’s what the Galaxy S24 Ultra enables you to do with a high-resolution camera and a wide range of shooting modes, even without profound experience.

The 200MP wide-angle and 50MP telephoto cameras: You can take high-resolution images in bright conditions and when it’s darker, the adaptive pixel sensors with improved tetra squared pixel binning technology enhance the brightness and details. Now, you have the freedom to decide the type of photo you want to take, with no need for a full-scale professional lighting setup.

Quad Tele System: Professional photographers rely on bulky telephoto lenses to capture stunning shots from great distances. But with the Galaxy S24 Ultra, you can achieve the same impressive results right from your pocket. Its Quad Tele System delivers optical-quality images at 2x, 3x, 5x and 10x magnifications.

AI Zoom ensures clearer, sharper shots, especially when zooming between 2x, 3x, 5x and 10x or beyond 10x. The details can be restored for crisp images — even at an astounding 100x.

This marks a new era for concert photos and videos, where anyone can take pride in their zoom shots. Even from a distance, you’ll shoot like a pro.

Nighttime Pro

Capturing nighttime moments with loved ones can be challenging for most, as the lack of light often makes it difficult to do the scene justice. True pros know that mastering the art of light is essential and with the Galaxy S24 Ultra, you too can make the night your ally.

Nightography naturally enhances details and brightness in low-light conditions, making those elusive nighttime shots easier to capture than ever before. Equipped with advanced sensors, optimized pixels, precise shutter speed and enhanced stabilization capabilities, the Galaxy S24 Ultra was engineered for the dark.

Advanced algorithms on both the front and rear cameras reduce noise, a common problem in low-light environments. While professionals have traditionally relied on tripods to steady their shots at night, the Galaxy S24 Ultra eliminates that need.

AI analyzes gyro data to distinguish between your movements and those of your subject.

Wider optical image stabilization (OIS) angles allow enhanced hand-shake compensation to ensure clearer, faster shots from any distance.

Improved image signal processing (ISP) analyzes segments of an image to understand what’s going on in the scene so it can apply sophisticated editing and fine-tune specific aspects of the image such as sharpness, skin tone and noise reduction while also enhancing details. Both the front and rear cameras are equipped with a dedicated ISP block for noise reduction when recording videos in poor lighting conditions.

Now, you can leave the tripod at home and still capture stunning nighttime photos like a pro.

Cinema Pro

Visually stunning movies have traditionally required a crew to produce, but the Galaxy S24 Ultra puts that cinematic power in your hands. Now anyone can produce captivating, pro-grade videos without a Hollywood-sized budget.

Pros know that shooting in high resolution allows their content to shine on any screen, no matter the size.

Video recording in 4K at 120fps and 8K at 30fps: The Galaxy S24 Ultra opens up new possibilities by recording high-resolution videos in 8K or super smooth 120fps videos in 4K. Everything you shoot will be ready for the big screen.

But a true professional filming experience goes beyond just shooting in high resolution. It’s also about capturing every detail and bringing creative visions to life.

Portrait Video Mode with AI Stereo Video Bokeh harnesses AI to blend data from two cameras. This creates a clear separation between the foreground and background, allowing your subject to truly stand out.

Editing Pro

Capturing brilliant photos and videos is only step one. Most professionals will tell you that the magic truly happens in post-production, where the finishing touches can elevate your work to the next level.

While professionals might spend hours perfecting a single shot in editing, the Galaxy S24 Ultra simplifies the process without sacrificing quality.

Edit Suggestion: Galaxy AI automatically identifies potential issues in an image, such as unwanted reflections or shadows, and suggests suitable tweaks

Generative Edit allows you to reposition people or objects within a photo and fill in the space where they originally were with a perfectly blended background.

Editing has never been easier. With the Galaxy S24 Ultra, achieving a polished, professional look is within everyone’s reach.

Social Pro

The last step of the creative process is sharing, and professionals often turn to numerous apps to make the most of their photos and videos before posting them on social media platforms. That’s because social media apps don’t fully utilize the native camera app’s capabilities. That changes with the Galaxy S24 Ultra, which integrates the ProVisual Engine into Instagram.

Super HDR (high dynamic range): In the Instagram app on the Galaxy S24 Ultra, you can directly shoot photos and videos in HDR for a more lifelike range of brightness, contrast and color.

That means social media-ready shots without the need for hours of post-processing. Now that’s better than pro.

Samsung Electronics allowed fans to immerse themselves into the Olympic Games Paris 2024 sailing competition held in the French port city of Marseille. Through the Galaxy S24 Ultra smartphones installed on each boat, fans experienced the race as if they were alongside their favorite athletes — battling the elements together in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea.

Samsung implemented optimized software and technology to support filming and transmitting this first-of-its-kind footage in collaboration with the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Olympic Broadcasting Services (OBS) and other Olympic partners.

Galaxy S24 Ultra smartphones were installed on the boats used in the sailing events. For kitesurfing and windsurfing, Galaxy smartphones were attached to each athlete’s shoulder and buoys in the water. With this new viewing experience, sailing fans never missed a beat.

This presented a whole new set of challenges and months of research, development and testing — in close collaboration with the OBS and other Olympic tech partners — to guarantee video quality and connectivity performance across various bodies of water and weather conditions, which can be really windy with huge waves or extremely hot and sunny. Samsung and its partners addressed these challenges by leveraging the Galaxy S24 Ultra’s Optical image stabilization (OIS) features, increasing transmission power and installing relay towers on chase boat to ensure a seamless livestream experience for viewers.

In line with the Olympics Games Paris 2024 vision of a “Games Wide Open,” Samsung is dedicated to bringing a more immersive experience to fans around the world.

Who said an Olympic Opening Ceremony must happen inside a stadium? In a night of firsts, the Olympic Games Paris 2024 officially kicked off with a historic ceremony on the Seine River — and Samsung Electronics, a Worldwide Olympic and Paralympic Partner, provided the groundbreaking innovation that made it so special.

To bring fans closer to the action than ever before, Samsung installed more than 200 Galaxy S24 Ultra smartphones on the 85 athlete boats taking part in the Opening Ceremony. The event was livestreamed through a private 5G network powered by Orange (the official mobile network provider for Paris 2024 in France).

▲ Team Kenya athlete shares a selfie with fans with the new Samsung Galaxy Z Flip6 Olympic Edition.
Fans tuning into the broadcast were given a closer look at an already unique celebration of the Olympic spirit in the 2024 host city of Paris. Those who watched the Opening Ceremony could experience the event from the athletes’ point of view as they shared scenes from this memorable ceremony using their Galaxy Z Flip6 Olympic Edition smartphones.

▲ Team Australia athlete shares a selfie with fans with the new Samsung Galaxy Z Flip6 Olympic Edition.
Samsung collaborated with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and Olympic Broadcasting Services (OBS) to create a meaningful night for athletes and fans — requiring extensive planning with various Olympic partners for real-time footage streams, seamless 5G connectivity and other technology support.

The opening ceremony livestream is just one of several ways Samsung is sharing the excitement from Paris 2024 with the world. The sailing competition in Marseille and Victory Selfies will also bring fans closer to the Olympic Games. For a brand-new view of the sailing competition in Marseille, Samsung is installing Galaxy S24 Ultra smartphones to the boats and on the athletes’ shoulders. Furthermore, medalists can capture their emotions with Victory Selfies using the Galaxy Z Flip6 Olympic Edition provided at the podium.

▲ Team Korea athletes share their experience with fans with their new Samsung Galaxy Z Flip6 Olympic Edition.
More than 100 experts, 250 phones and 360 days of testing made delivering these moments possible. The efforts to enhance the viewing experience for fans around the world were all part of Paris 2024’s vision of a ‘Games Wide Open.’ Through its mobile innovations, Samsung will inspire Paris 2024 athletes and fans to keep an open mind because ‘Open always wins.’

Samsung Electronics today announced that it is cooperating with KRAFTON to deliver the ultimate gaming experience for DARK AND DARKER MOBILE on Galaxy smartphones.

“This collaboration with KRAFTON will enable deeper, more immersive gaming for Galaxy smartphone users playing DARK AND DARKER MOBILE,” said Jungwoo Kim, System Platform R&D Group of the Mobile eXperience Business at Samsung Electronics. “Moving forward, we plan to continue providing an optimized gaming environment based on ongoing technical collaboration.”

Samsung and KRAFTON have collaborated to ensure that DARK AND DARKER MOBILE operates smoothly on the latest Galaxy foldable smartphones, including the Galaxy Z Fold6 and Galaxy Z Flip6, which were unveiled globally at Galaxy Unpacked 2024 on July 10. The new title also supports App Continuity, allowing gameplay to continue even when the Galaxy Z Fold6 is folded and unfolded, and facilitating a comfortable gaming experience on the large screen of the Galaxy Z Fold6.

The collaboration has combined Samsung’s expertise in Vulkan 3D graphics technology with KRAFTON’s latest Unreal Engine technologies, resulting in highly realistic and immersive graphics. Additionally, the two companies have applied the latest technologies such as ‘Ray Tracing’ to ensure the best graphics on Galaxy smartphones, including the Galaxy Z Fold6 and Galaxy S24 Ultra. Furthermore, when playing DARK AND DARKER MOBILE on Galaxy smartphones, Dolby Atmos sound effects will be supported to enhance the gaming experience for users.

KRAFTON and Samsung are giving users in Korea and around the world the opportunity to pre-play DARK AND DARKER MOBILE on the latest Galaxy smartphones. When playing the title on the Galaxy Z Fold6, which is on display at Samsung Experience store, users will be able to experience the next frontier of graphics and immersion in a mobile game.

“The development team has worked on optimizing DARK AND DARKER MOBILE for the latest Galaxy smartphones like the Galaxy Z Fold 6 to replicate the feeling of playing a console game in the palm of your hands, through technical collaboration with Samsung Electronics,” said Joonseok Ahn, the executive producer at Bluehole Studio overseeing the development of DARK AND DARKER MOBILE. “We plan to continue this close collaboration with Samsung Electronics in the future.”

Samsung Electronics, a Worldwide Olympic and Paralympic Partner, today announced its plans alongside the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and Olympic Broadcasting Services (OBS) to revolutionize the Paris 2024 broadcast experience for viewers and fans. New, first-of-its-kind footage — which will be captured and shared with Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra — will play an integral role in opening up the historic Opening Ceremony on the Seine River and the Olympic Games’ sailing competitions like never before.

As the Official Smartphone and Computing Equipment partner of the Olympic and Paralympic Games, Samsung will harness its advanced mobile technology and 5G connectivity to provide a closer perspective of these iconic celebratory and competition moments. This new view, powered by Samsung Galaxy innovation, will not just help Paris 2024 deliver on its promise to be the most open Games ever, but also further Samsung’s legacy of innovation in support of the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

“In an increasingly connected society, Samsung Galaxy mobile technology has helped deepen and transform users’ relationships with the world, wherever they are. Having been a Worldwide Partner for nearly three decades, we know first-hand how important it is to create and enable the same meaningful connections at the Olympic and Paralympic Games,” said Stephanie Choi, EVP & Head of Marketing of Mobile eXperience Business at Samsung Electronics. “We’re honored to be working closely with the IOC and OBS to provide high-quality footage that will be part of a series of firsts at Paris 2024 and bring fans at home and onsite even closer to the excitement.”

In about a month, the Opening Ceremony of the Olympic Games will take place outside of a stadium for the first time ever. Paris 2024 will see 10,500 athletes float down the Seine River in designated boats for each national delegation, in what aims to be the most open and accessible opening ceremony in history. Departing from the Austerlitz bridge, the iconic parade will follow a six-kilometer route through the centre of Paris, passing some of the official Olympic Games venues before the ceremony’s grand finale at the Trocadéro.

Galaxy S24 Ultra Gives Viewers Front Row Seat to the Games

To bring fans at home closer to the action and provide an intimate glimpse of athletes’ reactions during this once-in-a-lifetime voyage, Samsung will install more than 200 Galaxy S24 Ultra smartphones at the bow and sides of each of the 85 athlete vessels at the opening ceremony. The high-quality HDR footage taken with the Galaxy S24 Ultra devices will be shared and streamed via a private 5G network powered by Orange, the official mobile network provider of Paris 2024 in France. Orange will install more than a dozen 5G antennas along the Seine to create the first-ever 5G standalone network in France, as this pioneering collaboration is designed to ensure a seamless 5G connectivity and viewing experience for fans around the world.

Samsung will also deploy the same technology for the sailing competitions in Marseille by installing the Galaxy S24 Ultra on each competition boat, letting fans experience the thrill of the race alongside their favorite Olympians and allowing them to truly get in on the action.

This presented a whole new set of challenges and months of research, development and testing — in close collaboration with the OBS and Orange — to guarantee video quality and connectivity performance across various bodies of water and weather conditions, which can be really windy with huge waves or extremely hot and sunny. Samsung and its partners addressed these challenges by leveraging the Galaxy S24 Ultra’s optical image stabilization (OIS) features, increasing transmission power and installing relay towers on chase boat to ensure a seamless livestream experience for viewers.

“As host broadcaster of the Olympic Games, we’re incredibly excited about this partnership with Samsung which will allow a truly original perspective of Paris 2024, evolving the way in which fans will experience the Games,” said Yiannis Exarchos, Chief Executive Officer of OBS. “Samsung’s latest mobile innovation will allow millions of fans around the world to live and breathe the spirit, action and emotion of the Opening Ceremony and sailing competitions alongside their favorite athletes in real-time.”

Samsung’s Long-Running Contribution to the Games

This announcement marks the next stage of Samsung’s long-standing commitment, in close collaboration with the IOC, to drive digital transformation and deliver cutting-edge technology at the Games by opening up the latest mobile innovations to athletes, fans and communities alike. This originated with the first ‘Call Home’ program which allowed nearly 2,500 athletes to speak to their families back home for free in 1998, when access to mobile phones was limited. It continued with the Wireless Olympic Works (WOW) app, the first official Olympic information service on mobile. The WOW app was introduced to Olympic organizers via Samsung-supplied Palm OS phones at Athens 2004 and then was made available to the public at Vancouver 2010, providing fans with the latest Games-time updates straight to their mobile phones.

In addition to driving mobile innovation, Samsung has also contributed to how athletes and staff, connect and communicate during the Games-time. Since Nagano 1998, Samsung has provided athletes and staff with a total of more than 120,000 mobile products.

Details of how Samsung will further leverage its technological capabilities to bring fans closer to athletes, in another Olympic first will be revealed in the coming weeks.

About Samsung’s Involvement in the Olympic Games
Samsung has been a Worldwide Olympic Partner since the Olympic Winter Games Nagano 1998. For over 25 years, athletes and fans have trusted Samsung’s transformative mobile technology to share the Olympic spirit globally and continue to shape the digital future of the Olympic Games for Paris 2024 and beyond. The company’s commitment to the Olympic Movement soon faces its fourth decade of partnership and extends through Los Angeles 2028. Samsung’s purposeful innovations in the wireless communications and computing equipment category, including equipment that features artificial intelligence, virtual reality, augmented reality and 5G will change the way the world experiences the Olympic Games.

In a new video, Samsung Electronics takes viewers behind the scenes to witness the technical precision and advanced engineering behind Corning® Gorilla® Armor — a scratch- and glare-resistant advanced glass developed exclusively for the Galaxy S24 Ultra.

Featuring the latest example of Corning Incorporated’s innovative technology, the video captures the remarkable optics, impressive durability and next-level clarity of the display.

Corning® Gorilla® Armor is the result of an exacting process that covers the glass surface with special ions in nanometer layers — each one thinner than a human hair. The end product is a high-tech material that reduces glare by up to 75%, making the display more readable and minimizing screen reflection even in bright sunlight or harsh indoor lighting.

This process makes the glass display tough, so users of the latest Galaxy smartphone can enjoy greater protection from the everyday wear and tear that gradually damages screens over time. In Corning lab tests, Corning® Gorilla® Armor demonstrated that it was more than four times as scratch resistant as as competing display glasses made from aluminosilicates.1

Another detail that may interest users is the way Corning makes this extraordinary display material in an ultra-clean environment with vacuum deposition systems. It is the same technology Samsung uses to manufacture semiconductors.

For more than 50 years, Samsung and Corning have worked together to create innovative display materials. Learn more in the video below.

Life moves at a quick pace. When you’re trying to capture exciting moments and keep a record of meaningful memories, you need a camera that’s ready to move at that pace too. Enter the Galaxy S24 series — AI-enhanced, responsive and ready for cutting-edge photography action in an instant.

Thanks to a suite of versatile camera tools and editing functions powered by Samsung’s ProVisual Engine, the Galaxy S24 series waves goodbye to hassle, fumbling with the settings and time-consuming editing for a new, effortless photo experience. Whether it’s a spontaneous sight like your dog springing over a fence or a candid moment at a family gathering, you’ll be prepared to preserve fleeting moments with speed and precision.

Six ProVisual Engine Features That Help You Capture Life as It Happens

Motion Photo — With the Galaxy S24 series’ new Motion Photo capabilities, Team Samsung Galaxy b-boy extraordinaire Kid Karam’s signature breaking style can be captured in all its dynamic detail without missing a single movement. By recording the preview for up to three seconds, Motion Photo captures a short span of motion in action and compiles it into a single moving image.1

In the Editor app, you can select any given frame from your Motion Photo to save as a standalone image. Thanks to automatic AI upscaling, the selected frame can be saved as a high-resolution image made up of 12MP for richer detail. Motion Photo also provides Super High Dynamic Range (HDR) capabilities, offering crystal-clear photos even when capturing in a backlit environment.

Finally, from the Gallery app, you can compress your whole three-second Motion Photo together to create a single Long Exposure image. This lets you capture, for example, the spectacular movement and color of an overhead firework display all in one photo. You can also apply other effects, such as Single Take via the Enhance-X app.

Faster Shot-to-Shot Shutter Speed — With a 30% boost in shot-to-shot shutter speed compared to the previous series, the Galaxy S24 series’ camera can take more photos within a shorter time span. This lets you take crystal-clear photos in rapid succession without having to slow down while images process. The next time you’re capturing your dog at the park, faster shots will let you capture every precious moment without missing it.

Instant Slow-mo — For those moments that are begging to be savored — like your daughter scoring the winning goal at a soccer match or your uncle busting his moves on the wedding reception dance floor — Instant Slow-mo has you covered, requiring no prior setup for the capturing process. Through intelligent AI Frame Rate Conversion (AI FRC) technology, the Galaxy S24 series can transform HD 24fps to UHD 60fps videos into slow-mo epics. FHD 240fps to UHD 120fps slow-mo videos can go further still with super slow motion. By generating new intermediate frames of movement based on the video that is already there, Instant Slow-mo achieves silky-smooth, highly detailed replays every time. Starting in late March, Instant Slow-mo will expand to support 480×480 24fps videos, allowing users to create social media-friendly video content with ease.

To achieve these slow-mo effects, the Galaxy S24 series uses powerful AI Frame Rate Conversion (FRC) technology:

First, AI FRC takes every two frames from the video as it was originally recorded and uses a deep learning model to analyze and extract motion information.

Extracting this information establishes the differences between frames and helps AI FRC interpolate intermediate frames that give the video slower motion.

This process is carried out twice — in both square dimension and reverse dimension — to boost the accuracy of the new, additional frames that have been generated.

Then, two fusion processes are carried out: Fusion Map and Residual. Fusion Map detects and extracts 2D outlines to help detect motion differences between frames, while Residual adds extra corrections and post-edits to minute details for enhanced accuracy. This allows the feature to create accurate intermediate frames extremely quickly.

When this is completed, the outputs of these two processes are fused one last time to render the final, AI-generated intermediate frames that give the video both fluid slow motion and meticulous detail.

Dual Recording — There are times when your reaction to a moment is just as priceless as the moment itself. With Dual Recording, you can record simultaneously with both the front and the rear camera so that your loved ones can see not only how amazing the view from the mountain peak was, but how ecstatic you were to finally reach it.

Upgraded from the previous Director Mode feature, Dual Recording now even lets you record with two rear cameras at the same time — Ultra Wide with 3x, for example — with Full HD resolution supported on Galaxy S24 and S24+ and Full HD and Ultra HD supported on S24 Ultra. With Preview Snap, you can extract a snapshot image from your recording at any time, while dedicated Image Signal Processor (ISP) Block and enhanced ISP capabilities support improved video noise and brightness.

10 ND Filter Types — Neutral Density (ND) filters are often attached to professional-grade cameras to help do things like limit light, reduce noise or lengthen exposure. No such attachments are required, with 10 different ND filters built into the Galaxy 24 series’ camera for maximum user choice and control. ND-filtered photos synthesize multiple frames at once and analyze object movement to create one still image with a clear sense of living motion in, for example, photographs of waves or waterfalls.

Single Take — Galaxy’s Single Take function lets you capture a range of image types with just a tap — up to eight in total based on one shot. This means if you want to sneak a quick shot of your friend opening the birthday gift you got them, you don’t need to waste time deliberating over the best camera mode in advance.

AI also enhances Single Take’s pose and skeleton detection capabilities. Previously finetuned to analyze human motion, skeleton detection can now recognize pets too, tracking their poses and rapid movements in real time for the best photos, videos and collages of your leaping canines and lounging cats. If a human subject is jumping through the air, for example, skeleton detection identifies when the subject is at their highest point and presents that frame as the best image for the user. When applied to your pet, it analyzes your pet’s poses to capture the moment best showing off their facial features.

1 In cases where the environment has insufficient light, Motion Photo may be automatically disabled and Night Mode will be activated instead. By tapping the moon symbol at the bottom of the display, the user can turn off Night Mode and revert to Motion Photo again.

In the world of mobile photography, amateur and seasoned photographers alike are often at the mercy of their phone camera’s capabilities. Despite remarkable strides in technology, capturing the perfect shot on a mobile device has been daunting in less-than-ideal conditions such as nighttime lighting, moving scenes, busy backgrounds or far-away subjects.

Until now.

With the Galaxy S24, Samsung continues leading camera innovation to make these limitations a thing of the past for Galaxy users. Thanks to Galaxy’s ProVisual Engine — a suite of AI-powered tools — photographers can maximize their creative freedom every step of the way, from shot to setup to backend editing. Fueled by enhanced NPU performance and bolstered by an extensive library of more than 400 million image datasets, the Galaxy S24 ensures you can snap the best shot every time, no matter your experience level.

Never Miss a Moment, Regardless of Capture Mode

With Galaxy S24, gone is the need to tinker with camera modes or look for the best settings to capture a great shot:

First up, the Quad Tele System ensures you get optical quality zoom at 2x, 3x, 5x, 10x and every step in between. This feature allows you to effortlessly capture every detail of a performance, wedding or even graduation ceremony, no matter how far away you’re sitting.

Nighttime is often a memory-making time with friends and family, especially in the warmer months, but dim lighting conditions can make capturing these moments a challenge. Galaxy S24 Ultra’s powerful Nightography capabilities mitigate this very struggle even from a distance. Compared to the previous model, its sensor has nearly doubled in size from 12.52 square millimeters to approximately 24.47 square millimeters, helping Galaxy S24 Ultra capture details with even more precision. It also has bigger pixels — nearly 60% larger and measuring 1.4μm on each side of the pixel at 5x zoom.1 Combined with enhanced AI ISP, this means the Galaxy S24 Ultra can capture more light and create brighter, less noisy images. What’s more, the photo shutter speed is 30% faster and the telephoto camera’s optical image stabilization angle is wider. That means you’ll capture clearer images more quickly, even if your hands are a little shaky.

Or maybe you’ve already captured your shot, but it’s not quite right. This is where Generative Edit takes the stage, harnessing generative AI to adjust objects and generate a perfectly blended background in their place. You can perfect the moment you captured, creating the ideal memory to look back on. Generative AI enables edits such as straightening and resizing, then harnesses in-painting and out-painting techniques to fill any gaps in the image. AI then determines the suitability of the results and handles any necessary post-processing.

Capture Expert-Level Results With Precision Tools

For amateur and expert photographers alike, Expert RAW enables the creation of professional-quality images. Using AI, Galaxy S24 features 24MP fusion, which combines images to get the most out of different resolutions. High resolution 50MP images provide more detail, while 12MP images provide multi-frame synthesis, which improves noise and dynamic range. Put together, they create the most incredible photo in any scenario. Add in HDR, which offers a more balanced range of brightness, color and contrast, and these tools let you edit like a pro to capture your best image yet.

Pro-Grade Editing for Amateurs and Experts Alike

Finally, for those wanting to take their photography chops to the next level, Enhance-X, Galaxy’s companion editing app, gives you even more creative control.

The latest version of Enhance-X arms you with a new feature: Camera Shift. Moments are fleeting and sometimes you only have a second to take your shot, which can leave the final result less compelling than you intended. Shooting from above can have the effect of making a subject seem smaller, while shooting from below can make it seem bigger or more powerful, and a straight-on angle makes a subject seem more relatable. Camera Shift lets you shift your photo’s perspective after you take your shot. Now you can focus on capturing the moment without worrying about having the perfect angle or camera position. Once you’ve taken your photo, Camera Shift lets you achieve the effect you want by using AI to adjust the angle and perspective.

1 Size comparison of the Galaxy S23 Ultra 10x and Galaxy S24 Ultra 5x’s sensor and pixel capabilities. Dimensions are measured to the nearest integer.

The world’s largest exhibition in the mobile communication sector, Mobile World Congress 2024 (MWC 2024), kicked off on February 26 (local time) in Barcelona, Spain.

With the overarching theme of “Future First,” MWC is discussing some of the biggest topics in tech and showcasing the various cutting-edge technologies that are anticipated to shape our future, including AI, 5G and 6G networks and the Internet of Things (IoT). This year’s exhibition is expected to attract about 100,000 attendees, comparable to pre-pandemic numbers, according to estimates.

Samsung Electronics is welcoming visitors to its booths across Halls 2 and 3, offering a closer look at its mobile, network and semiconductor businesses. Specifically, the highly anticipated design of the Galaxy Ring — previewed during Galaxy Unpacked 2024 this past January — is on display to the public for the first time.

Samsung Newsroom checked out these booths to find out exactly what the draw is for so many, and paid the Galaxy Experience Space a visit at Plaça de Catalunya in the heart of Barcelona.

As the MWC doors opened on February 26, the 1,745-square-meter Galaxy booth at the Fira Gran Via exhibition site filled with attendees spanning media, industry partners and experts alike. All were in hopes of getting their hands on the Galaxy S24 series — dubbed the “AI phone” — unveiled last month and being one of the first to see the Galaxy Ring’s design for themselves.

The Galaxy AI area offers attendees with an intuitive experience of Samsung’s newest innovative features including Live Translate, allowing users to overcome language barriers even when talking on the phone; Circle to Search, giving users the ability to search for an item they see in a photo or video simply by pressing the home button and drawing a circle around the object; Note Assist, which generates brief summaries of long texts; and Generative Edit, which allows users to edit photos like a pro.

Samsung’s booth also features a designated area where visitors can experience the Galaxy S24 series’ camera performance. A dark room with blackout shades keeping the light out shows the potential of the series’ new Nightography feature and its AI-powered ProVisual Engine that boasts enhanced stability when taking photos or filming videos.

In addition, the Samsung booth offers attendees an opportunity to experience the new Galaxy Book4 series and its connectivity features. Additionally, with the newest Galaxy AI features coming to the Galaxy S23 series via software update, these phones were also on display so attendees could experience Samsung’s innovations on previous models.

The era of mobile AI has come, and early adopters are already riding the waves of the latest innovation. To fuel the conversation, Samsung has made significant updates to the Try Galaxy app to offer Live Translate, Chat Assist, Note Assist, Photo Assist and Circle to Search with Google — so that those still on the fence can experience Galaxy AI without changing phones.

Previously tailored to iOS users, the Try Galaxy app is now available on all Android devices including Galaxy1 models for the first time. This means more users can explore the latest features of the Galaxy S24 series and One UI 6.1.

All things considered, it may be high time to give Try Galaxy… a try.

What’s New: Explore Galaxy AI Through Widgets and Tutorials

The updated Try Galaxy app simulates the experience of looking at an actual Galaxy S24 home screen. Once users are in the app, tutorials and interactive content help them navigate the latest interface.

The new widget on the second page of the home screen introduces the core AI-powered features of the Galaxy S24 series and its advanced camera tools. Users can tap each item to watch short demonstration videos explaining the features and how they’re applied in daily life. Check marks appear next to the completed items so users can track their progress.

Below is an overview of the new AI features spotlighted in the widget:

Live Translate: Communicate without language barriers using the real-time, two-way call translation feature built into the native app. Effortlessly get in touch with a ride-share driver or make a restaurant reservation in a foreign country with voice and text translations of phone calls, supported in 13 languages.2

Note Assist: Take notes as usual, but now receive instant AI-generated summaries to help streamline and organize notes. Turn dense paragraphs into bullet points with headers for easy review. The feature allows for automatic formatting, spell check and translations.

Chat Assist: Refine the tone of any text message for the occasion, ranging from professional to casual. Send polished meeting agendas to the boss, and chat with international friends in Spanish. The AI built into the Samsung Keyboard can also translate messages in real-time in 13 languages2 so that users can communicate better across cultural and language barriers.

Photo Assist: Get the perfect shot with the help of Generative Edit, an AI tool that allows users to resize, reposition or even remove objects within photos. Tweak the composition of a photo in an instant with Edit Suggestion. Use the Erase Reflection tool to automatically remove unwanted shadows and light reflections.

Circle to Search with Google: With a circling gesture, search for anything displayed on screen without switching apps. When users spot something they like in a social media post, they can simply long-press the home button and draw a circle around the image to get instant and helpful search results about the coveted item. Depending on the location, generative AI-powered overviews will be provided.

In addition to the AI features, the widget sheds light on the Galaxy S24 series’ advanced camera tools. Through immersive tutorial videos shot from first-person perspective, users can learn how to take clear, bright photos at night from far away using Nightography Zoom, record steady videos of subjects moving at high speed with the Super Steady feature and shoot impressive portraits and selfies in Portrait mode.

Other Updates and Availability

While on the app, users can also check out the new Galaxy Themes or background images beyond Wallpapers, offered on the Galaxy S24 Ultra. As a bonus, three types of Art Wallpapers including graffiti and pop art are available for download.

To learn more about the Galaxy ecosystem, users can swipe through informative cards introducing features such as seamless multi-device connectivity, file-sharing capabilities and body composition data available through Samsung Health. For a quick intro to the latest foldable experience, users can watch introductory videos showcasing the Galaxy Z Flip5 and Z Fold5.

The Try Galaxy app currently supports 20 languages3 encompassing 120 countries and has amassed over 18 million cumulative downloads since its launch in 2022. Download the updated app by simply scanning a QR code or visit trygalaxy.com.

1 The Try Galaxy app is available on supported Android OS smartphones with the latest version of Chrome, but may not be perfectly optimized depending on device model, setting, screen size, etc. The app runs on Safari, on iPhone 7 and above with iOS 14 or higher.

Developing the Galaxy S24 series has been the most rewarding period of my career. As an engineer, I have witnessed many examples of incredible innovations, but AI is the most transformative technology of the century. Few engineers get the chance to be involved in something with such seismic potential. It brings great change, not only for Samsung and the mobile industry but for all humankind.

When integrated into phones, AI is, to put it simply, a revolution. This is a new era for mobile experiences and Samsung Galaxy has a leading role to play in it. Mobile devices will become the primary access point for AI, and Samsung Galaxy — with our broad and comprehensive product portfolio, heritage of innovation and philosophy of open collaboration — is in a great position to accelerate its global expansion. We will make mobile AI easy to access and ignite new possibilities for all.

Opening Up New Possibilities

As we pioneer groundbreaking experiences in mobile AI, we’ve thought a lot about how this new and exciting technology can enhance our lives and inspire society’s next steps. Applied with care and consideration, Galaxy AI1 helps people communicate beyond borders, complete everyday tasks easily and so much more.

Since the launch of the Galaxy S24 series, we’ve had great feedback about how people actually use Galaxy AI features in their daily lives. One of the most welcomed AI features is Circle to Search2 with Google, an incredible new tool for intuitive discovery. Our communication tools for removing language barriers, such as Live Translate,3 Chat Assist4 and Interpreter, have captured the imagination of many. People also love Photo Assist, our tool for creativity powered by our ProVisual Engine.

Again, we’re only getting started. While developing the Galaxy S24 series, we had many ideas and concepts that we wanted to bring to life. Galaxy users will be able to enjoy more Galaxy AI features that build on these ideas and concepts over time as Samsung continuously enhances and grows the mobile AI experience.5

Moreover, we are already planning next steps for Galaxy AI beyond smartphones — optimizing it for various categories of devices across various services. In the near future, select Galaxy wearables will use AI to enhance digital health and unlock a whole new era of expanded, intelligent health experiences. Samsung will keep enriching and expanding Galaxy AI experiences across categories through collaborations with more industry-leading AI partners.

The Next Big Thing Is YOU

Over the past year, we frequently asked ourselves what users want or need and what they could achieve with a little assistance. These questions inspired the Galaxy S24 series, our first AI phone that invites users to imagine how their lives could change thanks to AI. It is the phone of the future — shaping the standard of mobile AI and defining this emerging category of AI phones.

Of course, there are challenges and responsibilities to consider. AI models in training are still susceptible to hallucinations, and the debate on intellectual property rights continues. It is crucial that companies openly collaborate to carefully define AI experiences, so users can confidently and reliably enjoy their new abilities.

It’s also important to raise the standards of security and privacy in this new era of data-intensive mobile experiences. That is one of the reasons we’ve taken a hybrid approach that combines on-device and cloud-based AI. Besides ensuring seamless usability, this lets users limit some features to function entirely on-device, giving them greater control over what they do with their data. We remain committed to enhancing Galaxy device security and privacy by providing users with transparency and choice.

In this new era of mobile AI, it is no longer a question of what any phone can do, but what individuals can achieve with the right tools. The Galaxy S24 series provides just some of those tools and I can’t wait to see what you will do with them. It is you who decides what’s possible, useful and meaningful. The next chapter of mobile experiences does not belong to us. It belongs to you, our Samsung Galaxy users.

1 Galaxy AI features will be provided for free until the end of 2025 on supported Samsung Galaxy devices. Different terms may apply for AI features provided by third parties.
2 Results may vary depending on visual matches. Requires internet connection. Users may need to update Android to the latest version. Product functionality may be dependent on your app and device settings. Some functions may not be compatible with certain apps. Availability of the service varies by country and language. Accuracy of results is not guaranteed.
3 Live Translate requires a network connection and Samsung Account login. Live Translate is only available on the pre-installed Samsung Phone app. Calls must be made using the native Samsung dialer. Certain languages may require language pack download. Service availability may vary by language. Accuracy of results is not guaranteed.
4 Requires Samsung account log in and internet connection.
5 Features and supported devices to be confirmed. Some Galaxy AI features already announced for Galaxy S24 series will be available on Galaxy S23 series, S23 FE, Z Fold 5, Z Flip5 and Tab S9 series via software updates. Availability may differ depending on model and region.

The AI future we’ve long been promised is now within reach. Literally.

It’s AI that tags along throughout your workday. On your subway commute, it suggests an eloquent response to your boss’s email. In the afternoon, it live translates a call with your global team and provides a summary and transcript immediately after. At night, it helps you archive all the resources and materials you gathered during another dizzying day of multitasking — in seconds.

For all the talk about AI transforming work, the game changer for the workforce is AI that goes everywhere you go. In other words, AI that’s as mobile as your mobile device.

Enter Galaxy S24, the first AI-powered phone.

With Galaxy S24, Samsung is harnessing AI to deliver new dimensions of personal convenience, productivity and communication into our daily lives. The impact will be profound in the world of work, where being productive on the go has become part of the job.

Here’s how several of the device’s features, powered by Galaxy AI, transform how we work:

Removing Communications Barriers

Businesses today routinely link up across borders and time zones to pursue new market opportunities. Accuracy and speed are a must, but international communication can create misunderstanding, swirl and delays. Galaxy S24 helps professionals collaborate more effectively whether they’re at the office, working from home or somewhere in between.

Real-time, two-way translation on conference calls: You’re setting up a conference call with a potential business partner in an overseas company. You want it to go as smoothly as possible, but you’re concerned about the language barriers.

Galaxy S24’s Live Translate translates phone conversations in real time, ensuring you’ll be as clear, creative and professional with overseas colleagues or clients as you’d be in your own language. Offered in 13 languages at launch, Live Translate provides two-way translation on both devices, even if one party isn’t using a Galaxy — or even a smartphone.

Translated and tailored tone for professional emails or texts: It’s your first day in a new job, and you want to make a good impression in your first email to your colleagues.

With Galaxy S24’s Chat Assist, you’re offered different AI-generated options on how to restructure your message and writing style, so you get the tone just right. Whether it’s drafting a catchy social media post or a formal email to your boss, this feature is accessible right from the Samsung Keyboard, so you can use it on any application and make sure you hit the appropriate note every time. And if you’re working with a colleague overseas, Chat Assist’s availability in 13 languages allows you to do all this in a language you don’t even speak.

Converse face-to-face without language barriers: As a small business owner attending an expo on emerging market trends, you spot a renowned expert in your niche from a popular YouTube business page. You want to pick her brain, but you know from the show that she speaks Italian, and you don’t.

Interpreter takes live translation out of the call app and into the physical world. With this feature, Galaxy S24 becomes a real-time, in-person translator. Because the tool splits the phone screen into two horizontally, each person can show instantly translated text to the other, along with accompanying audio. It also lets you select the language you need and communicate smoothly and professionally with anyone around you.

Organize Your Phone and Your Thoughts

Although our phones provide a handy way to capture ideas, research projects and arrange meetings, organizing all that on a handheld device can be a challenge. Using responsive Galaxy AI capabilities, however, Galaxy S24 intelligently organizes your phone, so you stay focused on the big picture.

Keep your documents and plans organized: Deep into a work project, you realize the relevant resources you need are scattered everywhere: long emails, detailed articles, PDFs and more. If you could pull everything together into one cohesive format, it would save you hours of laborious notetaking and file conversion.

Thanks to the Note Assist feature, you can generate, read and save abridged versions of all your materials in a few taps of your finger, transforming the daily churn of documents into a well-structured archive. By pulling up a document, Note Assist prompts you to save its content straight to your Samsung Notes app. Once there, the feature can auto format the text and correct spelling mistakes before creating a simple or detailed bullet point summary of the whole document above the main text so you can see all the key points at a glance whenever you need to.

The feature can also extract and summarize text straight from physical books and papers and can translate notes into other languages, while its Browsing Assist capabilities can turn long, detailed articles into succinct summaries.

Accurately document everything: It’s a classic dilemma: You’re in an important work meeting, and you need to take detailed notes while at the same time staying focused and making contributions. With Galaxy S24, you can have it both ways.

Transcript Assist creates full, accurate records of meetings and conversations. Simply record the meeting using the native Samsung voice recording app, and afterwards Transcript Assist will offer to convert it to text, with sentences separated according to individual speakers. Once you’ve got your transcript, you can share it with your colleagues as is, or send it to Samsung Notes and add an AI-generated bullet summary to it using Note Assist.

If you have preexisting audio files recorded without Transcript Assist, the feature can convert these files to notes using Text to Audio.

When it comes to work, the power of having AI on our mobile devices goes beyond automating mundane tasks. Galaxy S24 illustrates how technology can dramatically improve how we work, think and create — by being indispensable, mobile and close at hand.

Traveling is often filled with unexpected challenges and complexities, but it just got easier. Samsung Galaxy S24 series, powered by Galaxy AI, is a personal travel guide in your pocket making the experience smoother and more accessible than ever.

Considering a weekend in Paris? Thanks to the 2024 Summer Olympics, that will be even more popular this year, making it a more challenging destination. Here are all the ways in which Galaxy AI can ease the journey at step, from planning and communicating better to discovering cultures and creating great memories.

THREE MONTHS OUT: You build an (intelligent) three-day itinerary.

AI can help eliminate travel indecision and answer the question, Where should I go?

As you scroll through social media, for example, a photo highlighting an exhibition at Paris’ Musée d’Orsay grabs your attention. Rather than switching apps to learn more, you use Galaxy S24’s Circle to Search with Google feature (available January 31), which lets you act on inspiration the moment it strikes.

You press and hold the Home button to activate the feature. The new experience, which brings Google’s latest AI capabilities to Galaxy users, allows you to search what’s displayed on your screen, including images, videos or text.1 With your finger or Samsung S Pen, you can simply draw a circle around what you’re curious about—in this case, a social media post—and Circle to Search quickly pulls up relevant information, such as details about the exhibition.

For certain searches, this feature also allows you to get AI-powered overviews so you can more easily understand concepts, ideas or topics from helpful information pulled together from across the web. In this way, well ahead of your travels, AI adds a new dimension of preparation, helping you follow your curiosity with confidence.

▲ On Galaxy S24, Circle to Search with Google lets you follow your inspirations directly and intuitively.

DAY ONE: You make connections across language barriers, thanks to your personal pocket translator.

Settling into your hostel, you’re keen to meet people and get all the hot tips on where to eat and what to see. But while travel is an exciting experience, it can be overwhelming if you don’t speak the language. In the hostel’s lounge area, you use Galaxy S24’s Interpreter feature to sidestep the language differences and converse with your fellow travelers in real time and in person, asking them for site-seeing recommendations with a local spin. On one side of the screen is the translated audio text of the person you’re speaking to, and on the other side is your part of the conversation translated for them.

Having made plans to meet up with your new companions later for dinner by the Seine, you use Chat Assist’s Message Translate feature to stay in touch throughout the day and time your rendezvous perfectly. By combining Message Translate with Chat Assist’s Writing Style tool, you can automatically adjust your messages to make sure you’re using a friendly tone instead of an unintentionally stilted, formal one.

Thanks to mobile AI, you can make travel a more social experience, forging meaningful connections across language barriers in the moment – voilà!

▲ Say au revoir to language barriers. Interpreter’s live translation makes it easy to talk to someone in another language.

DAY TWO: You explore the local food and culture, powered by your own digital travel agent.

Even the best planned vacations encounter hiccups, but with mobile AI, you’re prepared.

If you realize you booked your exhibition tickets at the Musée d’Orsay for the wrong day, for example, you can call to the ticket office with the peace of mind of knowing you don’t need to speak French.

Supported in 13 languages at launch,2 Live Translate takes the stress out of problem-solving in a different language. Galaxy S24 is the first phone to offer real-time, two-way call translation within its native call app. When you phone the museum, the call app offers you an option to launch Live Translate, which provides both text and audio translations instantly.

The feature also works for the person on the other end of the line, regardless of whether they’re using a Galaxy device, allowing you to rebook your ticket as easily as you would at home and head out for a day full of art and culture.

DAY THREE: As your trip comes to a close, your AI-powered phone helps you fine-tune your holiday pics.

Before long, you’re having one last pain au chocolat in a boulangerie at Charles de Gaulle Airport, reflecting on your all-too-brief weekend in the City of Lights.

You want to send your hostel friends a group photo of you all in front of the Eiffel Tower, but the well-meaning passerby who took it got the composition slightly wrong. The Eiffel Tower is tilting at an angle, and your group is off to the right instead of in the center. With Generative Edit, you can go beyond the boundaries of photography and correct these issues in a couple of taps.

When you rotate the image to straighten up France’s most iconic structure, Generative Edit fills in the newly created blanks in the corners using intelligent outpainting technology to extend what’s already there, with no cropping required. As for you and your friends, simply select them with your finger, move them to the center and let Generative Edit’s inpainting capabilities fill in the blank space.

With Galaxy S24 at your side, mobile AI will change more than the logistics of travel. It will also change the traveler in profound ways, encouraging a sense of discovery, emboldening more meaningful interaction with locals and making the world feel grander, but at the same time, more accessible than ever.

1 For security reasons, Circle to Search may have limited functionality on DRM-protected applications, such as finance and banking apps.
2 Languages include: Chinese (simplified), English, French, German, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portuguese, Spanish, Thai and Vietnamese.

Whether you’re in a business meeting, traveling abroad or making a restaurant reservation, communication is key. On January 17, when Samsung Electronics released its latest lineup of Galaxy products powered by Galaxy AI, the company also unveiled a personal interpreter right in your pocket. With the Galaxy S24 Ultra’s Live Translate feature, talking to anyone on the phone in another language is suddenly easier — no matter what kind of device the other person is using.

Samsung Newsroom put the Live Translate feature to the test with a call to a local modern Italian-American restaurant in downtown San Jose, California. Here’s the firsthand experience and how this innovation is breaking down language barriers and transforming the way users communicate.

Live Translate: Connect With People, Places and Cultures Any Time, in Any Language

To make the reservation, a Korean editor from Samsung Newsroom first pressed the Live Translate button on the Galaxy S24 Ultra, then dialed the number. Once she connected with a restaurant employee, an automated message announced, “Hello. This call is being translated and live captioned.”

▲ Samsung Newsroom called the restaurant using Live Translate to make a reservation.

“Hello, how may I help you?” replied a restaurant hostess on the other line. The Newsroom editor responded in Korean, “Hello! I’d like to make a reservation for this Thursday at 1:30 PM.” After pausing to listen to the translation, the restaurant asked for the total number of people. The editor continued in Korean, “Six. Can I make a reservation for a window seat?” The Live Translate feature then seamlessly conveyed this message to the restaurant employee in English.

▲ Live Translate feature on the Galaxy S24 Ultra. It doesn’t matter who’s on the other line — Galaxy S24 Ultra’s Live Translate feature works with all phone types.

※ GIF speed has been adjusted for better legibility.

The Galaxy S24 Ultra’s Live Translate feature supports up to 13 languages at launch, providing both audio and onscreen text translations of conversations. It remembers the language used for each person contacted, automatically setting it for future calls. Plus, it also functions seamlessly across all phone types — even a landline. When the Korean editor first tried it out, she was amazed at how immediately the language barrier disappeared.

On the day of the reservation, Samsung Newsroom visited the restaurant to sit down with the restaurant’s general manager, Drianna Cardarelli, and asked about her thoughts on Live Translate for the Galaxy S24 Ultra.

▲ Samsung Newsroom snapped picture-perfect photos of their lunch with the Galaxy S24 Ultra.

“I think it’s great for hospitality, especially for guests who don’t speak English,” shared Drianna. “I think that it will help a lot of guests feel more comfortable calling the restaurant with questions rather than reaching out to us through email or our online reservation platform.”

She saw Live Translate as a valuable tool for situations when a phone call is simpler than using an online platform, whether it’s for event planning or inquiring about job opportunities. “Sometimes, we have a lot of Spanish-speaking guests,” Drianna explained. “It would be great if they could just bypass asking to talk to someone fluent in Spanish. They can avoid having any issues at all — language barriers, gone.”

▲ (From left) Drianna Cardarelli, general manager of the Italian-American restaurant. Samsung Newsroom explained the Live Translate feature on the Galaxy S24 Ultra.

Live Translate is one of the many features of the Galaxy S24 Ultra powered by on-device AI, which keeps phone calls private and secure. What’s more, this on-device AI processes calls quickly, even compared to the online version.

Galaxy AI is expanding possibilities for Galaxy users, empowering them to connect and create in new ways. Live Translate for the Galaxy S24 Ultra is helping break down boundaries to help everyone communicate seamlessly in other languages. Stay tuned to Samsung Newsroom for more updates on how Samsung is ushering in a new era of mobile AI.

Samsung Electronics yesterday announced the launch of an accessories line for the Galaxy S24 series that have been created in collaboration with three European artists. The three contributing artists are Ricardo Cavolo (Spain), Steven Wilson (U.K.) and Yeye Weller (Germany). Each artist is known for producing culturally inspired work, and the accessories they have created provide a unique opportunity for customers to celebrate European art in their day-to-day lives.

The accessories lineup for the Galaxy S24, S24+ and S24 Ultra comprises three types of cases — and the Galaxy Z Flip5 will also get three new Flipsuit cards designed by the three artists. Since these accessories are equipped with near field communication (NFC) technology, they automatically display animations on screen when attached. Customers who purchase one of the accessories will also receive a matching Galaxy Watch6 face as a special gift, which will be available for free download through a guide included in the packaging. The collection is exclusively available for purchase from January 17 at Samsung.com, starting with 16 countries and extending to more than 20 markets by January 26.1 Supported countries include Korea, the U.S., China, the U.K., Germany, France, Australia and Brazil.

“We’re excited to be working with leading European artists to deliver accessories that will better allow consumers to express their own unique voices,” said Evelyn Kim, EVP of the Global Brand Center at Samsung Electronics. “This collaboration serves as an expansion to the already rich, differentiated set of accessories offerings available on Samsung.com.”

Cases Featuring Evocative Designs From European Artists

Ricardo Cavolo is based in Barcelona, Spain and draws inspiration from folk art, medieval aesthetics and tribal forms. His work weaves together these narratives, infusing his art with layers that create mythical storytelling. His iconic “Flaming Heart” artwork is the basis for accessories that use the powerful imagery of a heart on fire against a sky-blue background with white stars.

The second contributing artist is the London-based Illustrator Steven Wilson, who is known for his passion for screen printing and color layering. His critically acclaimed artwork featuring a bulldog takes center stage in this collaboration, making use of striking colors and pronounced lines.

Finally, Yeye Weller from Münster, Germany is an internationally respected artist who infuses his work with bold colors and details to create delightful, adorable characters. His core “Spread Love” artwork has inspired the design of his Galaxy S24 cases, Flipsuit card and Galaxy Watch6 face.

Building on Samsung’s previous collaboration with contemporary artists, this new line of accessories will further enable users to take advantage of Samsung’s cutting-edge technology while still expressing their own sense of style with distinctive art.

Samsung Electronics today unveiled the tour vlog titled “Emma Myers in Seoul” — a film shot entirely on the new Galaxy S24 Ultra that follows actress Emma Myers, known for her role in the Netflix series “Wednesday,” and her adventures in Seoul. With most of the scenes shot by Emma herself, the film highlights the unique capabilities of the Galaxy S24 Ultra’s powerful camera and provides an intimate, firsthand view of the city.

Throughout the video, viewers can experience the different aspects of Seoul — from the iconic landmarks popular among tourists to glimpses of the city’s hidden local gems. While exploring the city, the new Galaxy S24 Ultra acted as the perfect travel companion for Emma. Equipped with advanced AI technology, the Galaxy S24 Ultra enabled her to perform a variety of useful functions, including confirming reservations over the phone with Live Translate, discovering hotspots among locals with Circle to Search and capturing highlights from a K-pop concert with Nightography Zoom.

“Nowadays, users enjoy capturing what they are experiencing with their phones. They want to do so quickly and easily,” said Hangyeol Lee, the director of the film. “For this reason, I think the Galaxy S24 Ultra is a great choice for users. Shooting with even the basic settings resulted in fantastic image exposure and breathtaking color tones.”

A stand-out moment of the film is when Emma meets TOMORROW X TOGETHER (TXT), her favorite K-pop group, and participates in a dance challenge with them. When attending the concert later in the video, she was surprised by the Galaxy S24 Ultra’s upgraded Nightography Zoom function. Even from far away and in low-light conditions, Emma was able to capture TXT in vibrant detail as they performed on stage.

Since last year, Emma has been a member of Team Galaxy. The new “Emma Myers in Seoul” film joins the Filmed #withGalaxy campaign which showcases the powerful camera capabilities of Galaxy. Building on the legacy of previous Galaxy devices, the film demonstrates how the Galaxy S24 Ultra is the perfect creative tool for shooting everyday moments and memorable occasions alike.
