Directed by award-winning filmmaker Quentin van den Bossche, “Coral in Focus” follows scientists, engineers and local conservationists as they confront the urgent threats facing coral reefs — ecosystems that support up to a billion people and a quarter of all marine life. This work is part of a broader effort announced at Galaxy Unpacked in January 2025, where Samsung unveiled its partnership with Seatrees to support the restoration of coastal ecosystems with communities in Fiji, Indonesia and the United States, leveraging Galaxy camera technology to document and aid in the recovery of marine environments.

The documentary spotlights the urgent threats facing coral reefs and showcases how innovative technology and global collaboration can drive meaningful impact for marine ecosystems.

A Crisis Hidden Beneath the Surface

As ocean temperatures shattered records, more than 80% of the world’s reefs have suffered from mass bleaching. When corals bleach, they lose not just their color but their lifeblood — the algae that feed them. This crisis, largely invisible to the public, threatens biodiversity, food security and coastal resilience. Long-term climate action is crucial to safeguarding coral reefs, while short-term restoration efforts — informed and supported by innovative technology — can help them withstand rising ocean temperatures.

A Galaxy Smartphone That Sees Beneath the Waves

Samsung collaborated with Seatrees, a nonprofit dedicated to restoring marine ecosystems, and the Scripps Institution of Oceanography at the University of California, San Diego, a global leader in reef research, to pioneer a new frontier in coral restoration by exploring new, innovative solutions. Ocean Mode,² a specialized camera feature created specifically for this partnership, was developed, introduced and validated in real-world conditions in Indonesia and Fiji. This process has created a credible foundation for broader scientific use while improving the overall accessibility of this new technology.

By enabling more scientists, conservationists and even citizen scientists with the ability to photograph, map and monitor reefs, Ocean Mode can help restoration efforts scale, and make it possible for anyone to protect more reefs, in more places, with greater impact.

Innovation With Measurable Impact

Ocean Mode transforms the Galaxy S24 Ultra into a mobile marine research tool, enabling vivid, high-resolution image capture even in challenging underwater conditions. It corrects the excessive blue and green hues typical of underwater photography, allowing for a more accurate representation of coral health and diversity.

The camera adjusts shutter speed and leverages multi-frame image processing to reduce motion blur caused by water movement or diver activity, ensuring sharp, detailed images. With its interval shooting capability, the device can automatically capture thousands of images in a single dive, dramatically improving both efficiency and consistency. These images can then be used to generate 3D models of coral reefs using technology known as photogrammetry, giving researchers a powerful way to visualize and study the drivers of the structure and health of reefs over time.

Over the past year, the project has delivered extraordinary results. With these coral restoration initiatives, 17 3D models of coral reefs have been made with the help of scientists and Samsung to analyze the impact of coral restoration efforts and validate the precision of Galaxy devices for photogrammetry. In total, Seatrees project partners planted more than 14,046 coral fragments to restore 10,705 square meters of coral reef habitat.

A Premiere With Purpose

The “Coral in Focus” premiere at Ocean House, in partnership with Project Everyone, brought together scientists, storytellers and sustainability leaders for a powerful conversation on the role that technology and global collaboration play in the future of coral reefs.

“A key focus of the coral restoration efforts is being able to monitor what’s working and what’s not. Exploring Ocean Conservation at UNOC

In addition to the premiere of “Coral in Focus,” Samsung representatives spoke on two panels hosted by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO-IOC) at the UNESCO-IOC “Beyond Borders: Ocean Futures” pavilion. First, Generation17 Young Leader José Francisco Ochoa spoke about the importance of digital technology and community partnership during the panel “Showcasing the Diversity of Ocean Literacy Practices Around the World,” where he shared insights on how Generation17 elevates his work to advance ocean literacy.

Samsung also participated in a panel discussion titled “The Role of Corals in Unlocking the Secrets of Biodiversity,” highlighting its commitment to marine conservation. Cassie Smith, Senior Manager of Corporate Sustainability and U.S. Public Affairs at Samsung Electronics, presented how Galaxy technology, including Ocean Mode, serves as a tool to support marine ecosystem protection through environmental monitoring, data collection and community engagement. The panel was part of a full day of programming held during UNOC that promotes ocean literacy and awareness of ocean preservation.

A Continued Commitment to Ocean Health

The collaboration with Seatrees builds on Samsung’s broader commitment to ocean health. Since 2022, the company has incorporated over 150 tonnes of recycled fishing nets into Galaxy devices. Supporting Marine Ecosystems Through Global Collaboration

Introduced at Galaxy Unpacked in January 2025, Coral in Focus is an initiative launched last year that supports local communities, including Fiji, Indonesia and the United States, to restore coastal ecosystems.

Samsung has partnered with Seatrees, a nonprofit organization dedicated to restoring marine ecosystems, to explore new, innovative solutions for coral reef restoration. The company has introduced Ocean Mode¹ on the Galaxy S24 Ultra, an exclusive camera feature that enables vivid image capture even underwater. These images provide accurate visual data for marine researchers who create 3D photogrammetry models to continuously monitor and analyze coral reefs. Local partner organizations then use these findings to guide their on-site coral restoration efforts.

Ocean Mode: How Galaxy Camera Innovation Is Helping Restore Coral Reefs

Partners and local field teams use Ocean Mode to reduce the excessive blue tones common in underwater photography, allowing for a more accurate representation of coral colors. The feature also helps minimize motion blur through optimized shutter speed and multi-frame image processing. Additionally, the interval shooting function enables thousands of high-resolution coral images to be captured in a single session — improving both efficiency and image clarity.

With these coral restoration initiatives, photos taken with Ocean Mode have been used to produce 17 3D models of coral reefs to analyze the health and growth of reefs. In total, 11,046 coral fragments were planted to restore 10,705 square meters of coral reef habitat — roughly the size of 25 basketball courts.

Since unveiling its “Galaxy for the Planet” environmental vision in 2021, Samsung has continued its efforts toward a more sustainable future — not only by incorporating ocean-bound plastics from discarded fishing nets into its products but also by expanding into marine ecosystem restoration. These actions reflect the company’s ongoing commitment to reducing its environmental impact across the entire product life cycle and beyond.

Delivering Meaningful Progress for the World’s Oceans

Samsung is dedicated to protecting the environment for future generations, a commitment that drives the company’s innovation and positive impact for both people and the planet. This dedication has led Samsung to focus on enhancing ocean health with its innovative technology.

Starting with the Galaxy S22 series in 2022, Samsung incorporated recycled discarded fishing nets — also known as ghost nets — in Galaxy devices. Since then, Samsung has continued to scale its use of this recycled material across all Galaxy mobile products,¹ aiming to mitigate the damage that ocean-bound plastic² inflicts on fragile marine ecosystems.³

Now, Samsung is taking these actions one step further by joining forces the U.S.-based nonprofit organization Seatrees and the University of California San Diego to explore new, innovative solutions for reef restoration. The Galaxy camera technology provided to local coral reef restoration activists and researchers in coastal communities will aid their efforts to restore reefs impacted by climate change and pollution through improved monitoring of restoration success.

Together, with Seatrees, Samsung is giving new purpose to Galaxy technology to further innovative solutions that improve the health of the world’s oceans. The company is supporting non-profits and local community members working in Fiji, Indonesia and the United States with Galaxy technology to help restore coastal ecosystems. By leveraging mobile technology, these organizations aim to democratize and to create a more efficient process for coral restoration in reefs damaged by climate change, overfishing and ocean pollution, such as discarded fishing nets.

An Innovative Approach to Reef Monitoring and Restoration

Despite covering less than 1 percent of the ocean floor, coral reefs support approximately 25 percent of all marine life, making them one of Earth’s most biodiverse ecosystems.⁴ Millions of people around the world also rely on reefs as a source of food, income and coastal protection. At the current pace of decline, reefs are at risk of disappearing by 2050.⁵ To support the rapid development of coral reef stewardship projects globally, this initiative will provide advanced monitoring technology that leverages mobile devices as a readily-accessible technology platform.

While efforts to revive coral reefs have existed for decades, researchers are seeking new ways to improve this process. Scientists from UC San Diego’s Scripps Institution of Oceanography and local communities use photogrammetry⁶ to collect a variety of data — including photographs of coral — to analyze the health and growth of reefs. This allows them to then develop 3D models of the reef, helping researchers identify appropriate interventions that mitigate the effects of climate change on the corals.

Accurate data is essential to researchers gaining a deeper understanding of how coral restoration efforts are affecting the reefs, and therefore help protect a greater number of reefs around the world. However, capturing accurate and vivid photos of coral reefs is not a simple task. Images can suffer from motion blur as divers swim over reefs capturing thousands of photographs, leading to less accurate data. Similarly, water absorbs warm colors like reds and oranges, also known as long wavelength light, distorting the accuracy of the captured images and resulting in photos that are darker and bluer than they appear to the naked eye.

Knowing that an accurate underwater camera is crucial to improving coral restoration efforts globally, Samsung collaborated to overcome these challenges by advancing Galaxy technology as a purposeful tool for coral restoration. Samsung developed a customized camera mode, called Ocean Mode,⁷ made exclusively for this partnership. Ocean Mode optimizes the native Galaxy camera to ensure efficient and high-quality image capture of coral reefs while underwater. It reduces motion blur and optimizes the camera’s white balance to enhance underwater content capture, ensuring accurate photos are sent to researchers. This, in turn, improves coral restoration efforts through improved analysis of restoration success.

To bring fans closer to the action than ever before, Samsung installed more than 200 Galaxy S24 Ultra smartphones on the 85 athlete boats taking part in the Opening Ceremony. The event was livestreamed through a private 5G network powered by Orange (the official mobile network provider for Paris 2024 in France).

Fans tuning into the broadcast were given a closer look at an already unique celebration of the Olympic spirit in the 2024 host city of Paris. Those who watched the Opening Ceremony could experience the event from the athletes’ point of view as they shared scenes from this memorable ceremony using their Galaxy Z Flip6 Olympic Edition smartphones.

Samsung collaborated with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and Olympic Broadcasting Services (OBS) to create a meaningful night for athletes and fans — requiring extensive planning with various Olympic partners for real-time footage streams, seamless 5G connectivity and other technology support.

The opening ceremony livestream is just one of several ways Samsung is sharing the excitement from Paris 2024 with the world. The sailing competition in Marseille and Victory Selfies will also bring fans closer to the Olympic Games. For a brand-new view of the sailing competition in Marseille, Samsung is installing Galaxy S24 Ultra smartphones to the boats and on the athletes’ shoulders. Furthermore, medalists can capture their emotions with Victory Selfies using the Galaxy Z Flip6 Olympic Edition provided at the podium.

More than 100 experts, 250 phones and 360 days of testing made delivering these moments possible. Samsung Electronics today announced that it is cooperating with KRAFTON to deliver the ultimate gaming experience for DARK AND DARKER MOBILE on Galaxy smartphones.

“This collaboration with KRAFTON will enable deeper, more immersive gaming for Galaxy smartphone users playing DARK AND DARKER MOBILE,” said Jungwoo Kim, System Platform R&D Group of the Mobile eXperience Business at Samsung Electronics. “Moving forward, we plan to continue providing an optimized gaming environment based on ongoing technical collaboration.”

Samsung and KRAFTON have collaborated to ensure that DARK AND DARKER MOBILE operates smoothly on the latest Galaxy foldable smartphones, including the Galaxy Z Fold6 and Galaxy Z Flip6, which were unveiled globally at Galaxy Unpacked 2024 on July 10. The new title also supports App Continuity, allowing gameplay to continue even when the Galaxy Z Fold6 is folded and unfolded, and facilitating a comfortable gaming experience on the large screen of the Galaxy Z Fold6.

The collaboration has combined Samsung’s expertise in Vulkan 3D graphics technology with KRAFTON’s latest Unreal Engine technologies, resulting in highly realistic and immersive graphics. Additionally, the two companies have applied the latest technologies such as ‘Ray Tracing’ to ensure the best graphics on Galaxy smartphones, including the Galaxy Z Fold6 and Galaxy S24 Ultra. Furthermore, when playing DARK AND DARKER MOBILE on Galaxy smartphones, Dolby Atmos sound effects will be supported to enhance the gaming experience for users.

KRAFTON and Samsung are giving users in Korea and around the world the opportunity to pre-play DARK AND DARKER MOBILE on the latest Galaxy smartphones. When playing the title on the Galaxy Z Fold6, which is on display at Samsung Experience store, users will be able to experience the next frontier of graphics and immersion in a mobile game.

In about a month, the Opening Ceremony of the Olympic Games will take place outside of a stadium for the first time ever. Paris 2024 will see 10,500 athletes float down the Seine River in designated boats for each national delegation, in what aims to be the most open and accessible opening ceremony in history. Departing from the Austerlitz bridge, the iconic parade will follow a six-kilometer route through the centre of Paris, passing some of the official Olympic Games venues before the ceremony’s grand finale at the Trocadéro.

Galaxy S24 Ultra Gives Viewers Front Row Seat to the Games

To bring fans at home closer to the action and provide an intimate glimpse of athletes’ reactions during this once-in-a-lifetime voyage, Samsung will install more than 200 Galaxy S24 Ultra smartphones at the bow and sides of each of the 85 athlete vessels at the opening ceremony. The high-quality HDR footage taken with the Galaxy S24 Ultra devices will be shared and streamed via a private 5G network powered by Orange, the official mobile network provider of Paris 2024 in France. Orange will install more than a dozen 5G antennas along the Seine to create the first-ever 5G standalone network in France, as this pioneering collaboration is designed to ensure a seamless 5G connectivity and viewing experience for fans around the world.

Samsung will also deploy the same technology for the sailing competitions in Marseille by installing the Galaxy S24 Ultra on each competition boat, letting fans experience the thrill of the race alongside their favorite Olympians and allowing them to truly get in on the action.

This presented a whole new set of challenges and months of research, development and testing — in close collaboration with the OBS and Orange — to guarantee video quality and connectivity performance across various bodies of water and weather conditions, which can be really windy with huge waves or extremely hot and sunny. Samsung and its partners addressed these challenges by leveraging the Galaxy S24 Ultra’s optical image stabilization (OIS) features, increasing transmission power and installing relay towers on chase boat to ensure a seamless livestream experience for viewers.

Motion Photo — With the Galaxy S24 series’ new Motion Photo capabilities, Team Samsung Galaxy b-boy extraordinaire Kid Karam’s signature breaking style can be captured in all its dynamic detail without missing a single movement. By recording the preview for up to three seconds, Motion Photo captures a short span of motion in action and compiles it into a single moving image.¹

In the Editor app, you can select any given frame from your Motion Photo to save as a standalone image. Thanks to automatic AI upscaling, the selected frame can be saved as a high-resolution image made up of 12MP for richer detail. Motion Photo also provides Super High Dynamic Range (HDR) capabilities, offering crystal-clear photos even when capturing in a backlit environment.

Finally, from the Gallery app, you can compress your whole three-second Motion Photo together to create a single Long Exposure image. This lets you capture, for example, the spectacular movement and color of an overhead firework display all in one photo. You can also apply other effects, such as Single Take via the Enhance-X app.

Faster Shot-to-Shot Shutter Speed — With a 30% boost in shot-to-shot shutter speed compared to the previous series, the Galaxy S24 series’ camera can take more photos within a shorter time span. This lets you take crystal-clear photos in rapid succession without having to slow down while images process. The next time you’re capturing your dog at the park, faster shots will let you capture every precious moment without missing it.

Instant Slow-mo — For those moments that are begging to be savored — like your daughter scoring the winning goal at a soccer match or your uncle busting his moves on the wedding reception dance floor — Instant Slow-mo has you covered, requiring no prior setup for the capturing process. Through intelligent AI Frame Rate Conversion (AI FRC) technology, the Galaxy S24 series can transform HD 24fps to UHD 60fps videos into slow-mo epics. FHD 240fps to UHD 120fps slow-mo videos can go further still with super slow motion. By generating new intermediate frames of movement based on the video that is already there, Instant Slow-mo achieves silky-smooth, highly detailed replays every time. Starting in late March, Instant Slow-mo will expand to support 480×480 24fps videos, allowing users to create social media-friendly video content with ease.

To achieve these slow-mo effects, the Galaxy S24 series uses powerful AI Frame Rate Conversion (FRC) technology:

• First, AI FRC takes every two frames from the video as it was originally recorded and uses a deep learning model to analyze and extract motion information.
• Extracting this information establishes the differences between frames and helps AI FRC interpolate intermediate frames that give the video slower motion.
• This process is carried out twice — in both square dimension and reverse dimension — to boost the accuracy of the new, additional frames that have been generated.
• Then, two fusion processes are carried out: Fusion Map and Residual. Fusion Map detects and extracts 2D outlines to help detect motion differences between frames, while Residual adds extra corrections and post-edits to minute details for enhanced accuracy. This allows the feature to create accurate intermediate frames extremely quickly.
• When this is completed, the outputs of these two processes are fused one last time to render the final, AI-generated intermediate frames that give the video both fluid slow motion and meticulous detail.

Dual Recording — There are times when your reaction to a moment is just as priceless as the moment itself. With Dual Recording, you can record simultaneously with both the front and the rear camera so that your loved ones can see not only how amazing the view from the mountain peak was, but how ecstatic you were to finally reach it.

Upgraded from the previous Director Mode feature, Dual Recording now even lets you record with two rear cameras at the same time — Ultra Wide with 3x, for example — with Full HD resolution supported on Galaxy S24 and S24+ and Full HD and Ultra HD supported on S24 Ultra. With Preview Snap, you can extract a snapshot image from your recording at any time, while dedicated Image Signal Processor (ISP) Block and enhanced ISP capabilities support improved video noise and brightness.

10 ND Filter Types — Neutral Density (ND) filters are often attached to professional-grade cameras to help do things like limit light, reduce noise or lengthen exposure. No such attachments are required, with 10 different ND filters built into the Galaxy 24 series’ camera for maximum user choice and control. ND-filtered photos synthesize multiple frames at once and analyze object movement to create one still image with a clear sense of living motion in, for example, photographs of waves or waterfalls.

Single Take — Galaxy’s Single Take function lets you capture a range of image types with just a tap — up to eight in total based on one shot. This means if you want to sneak a quick shot of your friend opening the birthday gift you got them, you don’t need to waste time deliberating over the best camera mode in advance.

AI also enhances Single Take’s pose and skeleton detection capabilities. Previously finetuned to analyze human motion, skeleton detection can now recognize pets too, tracking their poses and rapid movements in real time for the best photos, videos and collages of your leaping canines and lounging cats. If a human subject is jumping through the air, for example, skeleton detection identifies when the subject is at their highest point and presents that frame as the best image for the user. When applied to your pet, it analyzes your pet’s poses to capture the moment best showing off their facial features.

This year’s exhibition is expected to attract about 100,000 attendees, comparable to pre-pandemic numbers, according to estimates.

Samsung Electronics is welcoming visitors to its booths across Halls 2 and 3, offering a closer look at its mobile, network and semiconductor businesses. Specifically, the highly anticipated design of the Galaxy Ring — previewed during Galaxy Unpacked 2024 this past January — is on display to the public for the first time.

Samsung Newsroom checked out these booths to find out exactly what the draw is for so many, and paid the Galaxy Experience Space a visit at Plaça de Catalunya in the heart of Barcelona.

As the MWC doors opened on February 26, the 1,745-square-meter Galaxy booth at the Fira Gran Via exhibition site filled with attendees spanning media, industry partners and experts alike. All were in hopes of getting their hands on the Galaxy S24 series — dubbed the “AI phone” — unveiled last month and being one of the first to see the Galaxy Ring’s design for themselves.

The Galaxy AI area offers attendees with an intuitive experience of Samsung’s newest innovative features including Live Translate, allowing users to overcome language barriers even when talking on the phone; Circle to Search, giving users the ability to search for an item they see in a photo or video simply by pressing the home button and drawing a circle around the object; Note Assist, which generates brief summaries of long texts; and Generative Edit, which allows users to edit photos like a pro.

Samsung’s booth also features a designated area where visitors can experience the Galaxy S24 series’ camera performance. A dark room with blackout shades keeping the light out shows the potential of the series’ new Nightography feature and its AI-powered ProVisual Engine that boasts enhanced stability when taking photos or filming videos.

In addition, the Samsung booth offers attendees an opportunity to experience the new Galaxy Book4 series and its connectivity features. Additionally, with the newest Galaxy AI features coming to the Galaxy S23 series via software update, these phones were also on display so attendees could experience Samsung’s innovations on previous models.

Amid tremendous excitement leading up to the reveal of the Galaxy Ring at MWC 2024, global media and attendees were eager to explore Samsung’s latest product.

With its small form factor packed with Samsung’s innovative technologies, the Galaxy Ring offers integrated insights based on health data collected during the day and night. While the Galaxy Ring has yet to be released, it’s already captivating audiences with its three color options — black, gold and silver — and nine different sizes.

Meanwhile, the Galaxy Experience Space located at Plaça de Catalunya in central Barcelona drew a crowd with visitors eagerly awaiting their opportunity to experience Galaxy AI by searching, translating, summarizing and editing in ways never seen before.

The Galaxy Experience Space has been operating since February 15 and will remain open until February 29, the last day of MWC 2024.

Previously tailored to iOS users, the Try Galaxy app is now available on all Android devices including Galaxy¹ models for the first time. This means more users can explore the latest features of the Galaxy S24 series and One UI 6.1.

All things considered, it may be high time to give Try Galaxy… a try.

What’s New: Explore Galaxy AI Through Widgets and Tutorials

The updated Try Galaxy app simulates the experience of looking at an actual Galaxy S24 home screen. Once users are in the app, tutorials and interactive content help them navigate the latest interface.

The new widget on the second page of the home screen introduces the core AI-powered features of the Galaxy S24 series and its advanced camera tools. Users can tap each item to watch short demonstration videos explaining the features and how they’re applied in daily life. Check marks appear next to the completed items so users can track their progress.

Below is an overview of the new AI features spotlighted in the widget:

• Live Translate: Communicate without language barriers using the real-time, two-way call translation feature built into the native app. Effortlessly get in touch with a ride-share driver or make a restaurant reservation in a foreign country with voice and text translations of phone calls, supported in 13 languages.²

• Note Assist: Take notes as usual, but now receive instant AI-generated summaries to help streamline and organize notes. Turn dense paragraphs into bullet points with headers for easy review. The feature allows for automatic formatting, spell check and translations.

• Chat Assist: Refine the tone of any text message for the occasion, ranging from professional to casual. Send polished meeting agendas to the boss, and chat with international friends in Spanish. The AI built into the Samsung Keyboard can also translate messages in real-time in 13 languages² so that users can communicate better across cultural and language barriers.

• Photo Assist: Get the perfect shot with the help of Generative Edit, an AI tool that allows users to resize, reposition or even remove objects within photos. Tweak the composition of a photo in an instant with Edit Suggestion. Use the Erase Reflection tool to automatically remove unwanted shadows and light reflections.

• Circle to Search with Google: With a circling gesture, search for anything displayed on screen without switching apps. When users spot something they like in a social media post, they can simply long-press the home button and draw a circle around the image to get instant and helpful search results about the coveted item. Depending on the location, generative AI-powered overviews will be provided.

In addition to the AI features, the widget sheds light on the Galaxy S24 series’ advanced camera tools. Through immersive tutorial videos shot from first-person perspective, users can learn how to take clear, bright photos at night from far away using Nightography Zoom, record steady videos of subjects moving at high speed with the Super Steady feature and shoot impressive portraits and selfies in Portrait mode.

Other Updates and Availability

While on the app, users can also check out the new Galaxy Themes or background images beyond Wallpapers, offered on the Galaxy S24 Ultra. As a bonus, three types of Art Wallpapers including graffiti and pop art are available for download.

To learn more about the Galaxy ecosystem, users can swipe through informative cards introducing features such as seamless multi-device connectivity, file-sharing capabilities and body composition data available through Samsung Health. For a quick intro to the latest foldable experience, users can watch introductory videos showcasing the Galaxy Z Flip5 and Z Fold5.

Converse face-to-face without language barriers: As a small business owner attending an expo on emerging market trends, you spot a renowned expert in your niche from a popular YouTube business page. You want to pick her brain, but you know from the show that she speaks Italian, and you don’t.

Interpreter takes live translation out of the call app and into the physical world. With this feature, Galaxy S24 becomes a real-time, in-person translator. Because the tool splits the phone screen into two horizontally, each person can show instantly translated text to the other, along with accompanying audio. It also lets you select the language you need and communicate smoothly and professionally with anyone around you.

Organize Your Phone and Your Thoughts

Although our phones provide a handy way to capture ideas, research projects and arrange meetings, organizing all that on a handheld device can be a challenge. Using responsive Galaxy AI capabilities, however, Galaxy S24 intelligently organizes your phone, so you stay focused on the big picture.

Keep your documents and plans organized: Deep into a work project, you realize the relevant resources you need are scattered everywhere: long emails, detailed articles, PDFs and more. If you could pull everything together into one cohesive format, it would save you hours of laborious notetaking and file conversion.

Thanks to the Note Assist feature, you can generate, read and save abridged versions of all your materials in a few taps of your finger, transforming the daily churn of documents into a well-structured archive. By pulling up a document, Note Assist prompts you to save its content straight to your Samsung Notes app. Once there, the feature can auto format the text and correct spelling mistakes before creating a simple or detailed bullet point summary of the whole document above the main text so you can see all the key points at a glance whenever you need to.

The feature can also extract and summarize text straight from physical books and papers and can translate notes into other languages, while its Browsing Assist capabilities can turn long, detailed articles into succinct summaries.

Accurately document everything: It’s a classic dilemma: You’re in an important work meeting, and you need to take detailed notes while at the same time staying focused and making contributions. With Galaxy S24, you can have it both ways.

Transcript Assist creates full, accurate records of meetings and conversations. Simply record the meeting using the native Samsung voice recording app, and afterwards Transcript Assist will offer to convert it to text, with sentences separated according to individual speakers. Once you’ve got your transcript, you can share it with your colleagues as is, or send it to Samsung Notes and add an AI-generated bullet summary to it using Note Assist.

If you have preexisting audio files recorded without Transcript Assist, the feature can convert these files to notes using Text to Audio.

For certain searches, this feature also allows you to get AI-powered overviews so you can more easily understand concepts, ideas or topics from helpful information pulled together from across the web. In this way, well ahead of your travels, AI adds a new dimension of preparation, helping you follow your curiosity with confidence.

DAY ONE: You make connections across language barriers, thanks to your personal pocket translator.

Settling into your hostel, you’re keen to meet people and get all the hot tips on where to eat and what to see. But while travel is an exciting experience, it can be overwhelming if you don’t speak the language. In the hostel’s lounge area, you use Galaxy S24’s Interpreter feature to sidestep the language differences and converse with your fellow travelers in real time and in person, asking them for site-seeing recommendations with a local spin. On one side of the screen is the translated audio text of the person you’re speaking to, and on the other side is your part of the conversation translated for them.

Having made plans to meet up with your new companions later for dinner by the Seine, you use Chat Assist’s Message Translate feature to stay in touch throughout the day and time your rendezvous perfectly. By combining Message Translate with Chat Assist’s Writing Style tool, you can automatically adjust your messages to make sure you’re using a friendly tone instead of an unintentionally stilted, formal one.

Before long, you’re having one last pain au chocolat in a boulangerie at Charles de Gaulle Airport, reflecting on your all-too-brief weekend in the City of Lights.

You want to send your hostel friends a group photo of you all in front of the Eiffel Tower, but the well-meaning passerby who took it got the composition slightly wrong. The Eiffel Tower is tilting at an angle, and your group is off to the right instead of in the center. With Generative Edit, you can go beyond the boundaries of photography and correct these issues in a couple of taps.

When you rotate the image to straighten up France’s most iconic structure, Generative Edit fills in the newly created blanks in the corners using intelligent outpainting technology to extend what’s already there, with no cropping required. As for you and your friends, simply select them with your finger, move them to the center and let Generative Edit’s inpainting capabilities fill in the blank space.

Samsung Newsroom put the Live Translate feature to the test with a call to a local modern Italian-American restaurant in downtown San Jose, California. Here’s the firsthand experience and how this innovation is breaking down language barriers and transforming the way users communicate.

Live Translate: Connect With People, Places and Cultures Any Time, in Any Language

To make the reservation, a Korean editor from Samsung Newsroom first pressed the Live Translate button on the Galaxy S24 Ultra, then dialed the number. Once she connected with a restaurant employee, an automated message announced, “Hello. This call is being translated and live captioned.”

“Hello, how may I help you?” replied a restaurant hostess on the other line. The Newsroom editor responded in Korean, “Hello! I’d like to make a reservation for this Thursday at 1:30 PM.” After pausing to listen to the translation, the restaurant asked for the total number of people. The editor continued in Korean, “Six. Can I make a reservation for a window seat?” The Live Translate feature then seamlessly conveyed this message to the restaurant employee in English.

The Galaxy S24 Ultra’s Live Translate feature supports up to 13 languages at launch, providing both audio and onscreen text translations of conversations. It remembers the language used for each person contacted, automatically setting it for future calls. Plus, it also functions seamlessly across all phone types — even a landline. When the Korean editor first tried it out, she was amazed at how immediately the language barrier disappeared.

On the day of the reservation, Samsung Newsroom visited the restaurant to sit down with the restaurant’s general manager, Drianna Cardarelli, and asked about her thoughts on Live Translate for the Galaxy S24 Ultra.

“I think it’s great for hospitality, especially for guests who don’t speak English,” shared Drianna. “I think that it will help a lot of guests feel more comfortable calling the restaurant with questions rather than reaching out to us through email or our online reservation platform.”

She saw Live Translate as a valuable tool for situations when a phone call is simpler than using an online platform, whether it’s for event planning or inquiring about job opportunities. “Sometimes, we have a lot of Spanish-speaking guests,” Drianna explained. “It would be great if they could just bypass asking to talk to someone fluent in Spanish. They can avoid having any issues at all — language barriers, gone.”

Samsung Electronics yesterday announced the launch of an accessories line for the Galaxy S24 series that have been created in collaboration with three European artists. The three contributing artists are Ricardo Cavolo (Spain), Steven Wilson (U.K.) and Yeye Weller (Germany). Each artist is known for producing culturally inspired work, and the accessories they have created provide a unique opportunity for customers to celebrate European art in their day-to-day lives.

The accessories lineup for the Galaxy S24, S24+ and S24 Ultra comprises three types of cases — and the Galaxy Z Flip5 will also get three new Flipsuit cards designed by the three artists. Since these accessories are equipped with near field communication (NFC) technology, they automatically display animations on screen when attached. Customers who purchase one of the accessories will also receive a matching Galaxy Watch6 face as a special gift, which will be available for free download through a guide included in the packaging. The collection is exclusively available for purchase from January 17 at Samsung.com, starting with 16 countries and extending to more than 20 markets by January 26.¹ Supported countries include Korea, the U.S., China, the U.K., Germany, France, Australia and Brazil.

Cases Featuring Evocative Designs From European Artists

Ricardo Cavolo is based in Barcelona, Spain and draws inspiration from folk art, medieval aesthetics and tribal forms. His work weaves together these narratives, infusing his art with layers that create mythical storytelling. His iconic “Flaming Heart” artwork is the basis for accessories that use the powerful imagery of a heart on fire against a sky-blue background with white stars.

The second contributing artist is the London-based Illustrator Steven Wilson, who is known for his passion for screen printing and color layering. His critically acclaimed artwork featuring a bulldog takes center stage in this collaboration, making use of striking colors and pronounced lines.

Finally, Yeye Weller from Münster, Germany is an internationally respected artist who infuses his work with bold colors and details to create delightful, adorable characters. His core “Spread Love” artwork has inspired the design of his Galaxy S24 cases, Flipsuit card and Galaxy Watch6 face.

Building on Samsung’s previous collaboration with contemporary artists, this new line of accessories will further enable users to take advantage of Samsung’s cutting-edge technology while still expressing their own sense of style with distinctive art.

Throughout the video, viewers can experience the different aspects of Seoul — from the iconic landmarks popular among tourists to glimpses of the city’s hidden local gems. While exploring the city, the new Galaxy S24 Ultra acted as the perfect travel companion for Emma. Equipped with advanced AI technology, the Galaxy S24 Ultra enabled her to perform a variety of useful functions, including confirming reservations over the phone with Live Translate, discovering hotspots among locals with Circle to Search and capturing highlights from a K-pop concert with Nightography Zoom.

“Nowadays, users enjoy capturing what they are experiencing with their phones. They want to do so quickly and easily,” said Hangyeol Lee, the director of the film. “For this reason, I think the Galaxy S24 Ultra is a great choice for users. Shooting with even the basic settings resulted in fantastic image exposure and breathtaking color tones.”

A stand-out moment of the film is when Emma meets TOMORROW X TOGETHER (TXT), her favorite K-pop group, and participates in a dance challenge with them. When attending the concert later in the video, she was surprised by the Galaxy S24 Ultra’s upgraded Nightography Zoom function. Even from far away and in low-light conditions, Emma was able to capture TXT in vibrant detail as they performed on stage.

Since last year, Emma has been a member of Team Galaxy. The new “Emma Myers in Seoul” film joins the Filmed #withGalaxy campaign which showcases the powerful camera capabilities of Galaxy. Building on the legacy of previous Galaxy devices, the film demonstrates how the Galaxy S24 Ultra is the perfect creative tool for shooting everyday moments and memorable occasions alike.
