Samsung Electronics today announced the latest development in its ongoing partnership with streaming giant, Netflix, to herald the release of the second season of its hit-show, Emily in Paris, produced by MTV Entertainment Studios. The Emmy-nominated show, renowned for its 21^st century celebration of iconic Parisian style, has collaborated with Samsung to showcase world-class premium technology to fans of the series.

In the first season, the beautiful setting and quintessentially Parisian characters gave viewers an insight into French style and culture and are some of the driving forces behind the show’s success. This sense of escapism was created and elevated by the global cast, including the iconic character of Sylvie Grateau. Played by Samsung ambassador Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu, Sylvie acts as lead protagonist Emily’s boss, and the CMO of luxury marketing agency Savoir. Sylvie’s character embodies true stylish authority; great at her job, powerful, commanding and effortlessly chic, she became one of the most widely recognized and loved characters from the show’s debut season. In season two, to make sure she keeps on top of her personal and professional life, Sylvie has chosen the stylish and snappy Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5G to keep Emily and the rest of the agency on their toes.

Once a fall is detected, your watch will send an SOS notification to pre-selected contacts, helping ensure that the wearer can receive the assistance they need as soon as possible. This makes it easier to keep both yourself and your more vulnerable loved ones safe.²

Work Out With Friends Using Updated Group Challenge

Group Challenge enables you to work out with friends no matter how far apart you are – helping you stay motivated and connected by working out together. With the new update, you can now add your friends or family members to a Challenge, battling it out to see who can go the furthest or the fastest, either working as a team or competing against each other individually. Keep track of your own place in the competition or see how you’re performing as a team – all from your wrist.

Get a More Holistic Insight Into Your Health

The Galaxy Watch series has introduced a vast suite of advanced health features – from heart rate tracking and blood oxygen measurement to sleep and stress management.³ Plus, with ground-breaking Blood Pressure (BP)⁴ and Electrocardiogram (ECG)⁵ monitoring in select markets, Galaxy Watch users can benefit from accurate health monitoring and gain deeper insights into their overall health through the Samsung Health Monitor app.

Some of the new watch faces are designed to enable you to take personalization a step further. Tapping on these watch face will enable you to pick between different background or text colors, while the Animals watch face allows you to choose between different colorful animated creatures like a monkey, rabbit, sheep or cat.

The Samsung Health Monitor app received a CE-marking in December 2020, which enabled the service to expand to 28 European countries. Blood Pressure Measurement

High blood pressure is commonly linked to brain, kidney and heart diseases, and if left untreated, it can lead to stroke and coronary heart disease. Galaxy smartwatches are able to measure blood pressure via the Samsung Health Monitor app, which provides users with deeper insight into health and allows them to make more informed decisions about their wellness.

Once your Galaxy Watch3 or Galaxy Watch Active2 has been calibrated with a traditional cuff,² you can simply tap to “Measure” your blood pressure anytime, anywhere. The device measures blood pressure through pulse wave analysis, which is tracked with the Heart Rate Monitoring sensors. The program then analyzes the relationship between the calibration value and the blood pressure change to determine the blood pressure.³

Electrocardiogram Monitoring

It is estimated that around 33.5 million people worldwide are affected by Atrial Fibrillation (AFib),⁴ a common form of abnormal heart rhythm. AFib is often the cause of heart complications, including blood clots, failure and stroke.

The electrocardiogram function works by analyzing the heart’s electrical activity via a sensor on the Galaxy Watch3 or Galaxy Watch Active2. Simply open the Samsung Health Monitor app when you are seated comfortably, and ensure the watch is fitted firmly to your wrist. Next, rest your forearm on a flat surface and lightly place a fingertip from the opposite hand on the top button on the smartwatch for 30 seconds. The app will then measure your heart rate and rhythm, which will be classified as either a Sinus Rhythm (a normal, regular heartbeat) or AFib (when the heart beats irregularly).⁵

Availability

To take blood pressure and electrocardiogram measurements, users must have the Samsung Health Monitor app installed on both the Galaxy Watch3 or Galaxy Watch Active2 and their Galaxy smartphone. The Samsung Health Monitor app is automatically installed when users update their Galaxy smartwatch to the latest version via the Galaxy Wearable app. The smartwatch app will then open a link, which will direct users to the smartphone app download page in the Galaxy Store app.

This tool recently received clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and will soon be available through the Samsung Health Monitor app when connected to a compatible Galaxy smartphone. The new ECG Monitor app allows users to monitor their heart rhythm for irregularities, scanning for signs of Atrial Fibrillation (AFib).³

To use the ECG Monitor app, simply take a seat, open up the new Samsung Health Monitor app, and ensure your watch is snug your wrist. Rest your arm on a flat surface, place your fingertip on the top button, and your watch will record an ECG and classify it as either Sinus Rhythm, or AFib.

Once the reading is complete, users can record relevant symptoms like fatigue or dizziness, and send a PDF report of their ECG recording with their healthcare provider using the Samsung Health Monitor app on a compatible Galaxy smartphone.

In addition to ECG monitoring, you can also conveniently track oxygen saturation on Galaxy Watch3. This feature can help users get a sense of how well their respiratory system is transferring oxygen into the bloodstream for fitness or other general wellness purposes.⁴

Whether you’re a seasoned marathoner, or just looking to get back into shape, this device also features tools for taking your training to the next level. A new digital running coach offers real-time feedback on pace and form, as well as detailed post-workout reports to improve performance and reduce injury. Post-workout VO₂ max reports also allow users to effortlessly track their cardio fitness progress, measuring the amount of oxygen your body can utilize when running outside.⁵

Now, Samsung Newsroom is comparing the Galaxy Watch3 with the first iteration of the series, the original Galaxy Watch, to show just how far Samsung’s wearable technology has come. Galaxy Watch3: Manage Your Life with Advanced Health Technology

Galaxy Watch3 boasts all the craftsmanship of a luxury timepiece, while being comfortable enough to wear all day. Sporting a timeless design, this watch is built with premium materials like stainless steel and high-quality leather — and for the first time, Galaxy Watch3 will also be available in a titanium model that’s both durable and elegant. Galaxy Watch3 also features the popular rotating bezel from previous watch models, which merges form with function. With just a turn of the bezel, you can easily toggle between widgets, open apps and scroll through notifications. Compared to the original Galaxy Watch, Galaxy Watch3 is 14% thinner, 8% smaller and 15% lighter¹ — combined with a larger display. You can also customize your watch face to perfectly reflect your personal style. You can choose from over 80,000 watch faces in the Galaxy Store, or design your own. A library of 40 different complications allows you to personalize your watch face with the information that’s most important to you.

With each new iteration, Galaxy Watch capabilities have expanded, and now, Galaxy Watch3 will offer new experiences in health and wellness monitoring. The Blood oxygen (SpO2) feature will soon measure and track oxygen saturation over time, for fitness and wellness purposes². Galaxy Watch3 will also be home to the new Samsung Health Monitor app once launched, which will include blood pressure (BP) monitoring³ and electrocardiogram (ECG) readings in markets where these features have been authorized⁴. To ensure that help is never too far away in the event of a fall, Galaxy Watch3 comes with a new feature that detects falls, which identifies a potential fall and can send an SOS notification to your chosen contacts⁵.

Beginning a fitness routine can be difficult, but Samsung’s running form tool is here to help. Running analysis⁶ will be able to offers real-time feedback during your runs, as well as six-factor post-workout reports, which help improve form, boost performance, and reduce injury. To track your cardio progress as you go, you will soon be able to easily access VO₂ max readings⁷, which offer insight into your oxygen uptake. Even when you’re at home, you have access to a full-service fitness studio with Samsung Health, which features a library of more than 120 different video workouts. Simply select a workout routine on your Galaxy smartphone, cast it onto your Samsung Smart TV⁸, and your Galaxy Watch3 will take care of the rest and automatically track the workout. Because recovery is just as important as the exercise, Samsung has been developing its sleep management offering since it was first introduced back in 2014. Now, Galaxy Watch3 offers brand new sleep score and insights to help you get better rest.

In addition, seamless compatibility between the Galaxy Watch3 and other Galaxy devices, including the Galaxy Note20, amplifies your mobile experiences. You can set automatic reply options for both messages and images, and easily view emoticons and photos directly from your wrist. You can also effortlessly control your mobile experience; play your favorite music from your phone with the rotating bezel; and use simple hand gestures⁹, like clenching and unclenching your fist to receive a call, or rotating your wrist to mute alarms or incoming calls. For those who spend extended periods away from their phone, LTE models are also available, allowing you to take calls and messages, stream your favorite playlists, and access your favorite apps on-the-go.¹⁰

Galaxy Buds Live defy conventional design — with one-of-a-kind aesthetics, they’re like nothing you’ve ever seen or worn before. Samsung has reconfigured traditional earbud design, laying out internal components horizontally instead of vertically. That way, the earbuds don’t protrude from your ears, providing a more natural appearance. This ergonomic, tip-less design conforms to the shape of your ear, making them comfortable enough to wear all-day. You can further customize your fit with two sizes of wingtips.

Galaxy Buds Live were engineered to bring your sound to life. Combining AKG’s sound expertise with Samsung’s legacy of hardware innovation, Galaxy Buds Live offer a truly immersive audio experience. With a 12mm speaker and bass duct, the audio sounds deep and rich, allowing you to enjoy music the way the artist intended. With three microphones and a Voice Pickup Unit, your earbuds home in on your voice and ensure you always come through loud and clear on the phone. Galaxy Watch3 and Galaxy Buds Live are available in select countries starting from August 6, 2020, and will expand to more markets.

Galaxy Watch3 is available in 41mm and 45mm, both available in LTE and Bluetooth variants.  Galaxy Watch 41mm variant will be available in Mystic Bronze and Mystic Silver, while the Galaxy Watch 45mm variant will be available in Mystic Silver and Mystic Black.

The Galaxy Watch Titanium variant will be available later this year.

The Galaxy Buds Live will be available starting, August 6, and will come in Mystic Bronze, Mystic White, and Mystic Black.
