Before we engineered our new notebooks, we listened to you. We heard what you wanted and what you needed. You told us you wanted the flexibility to do, with one notebook, more than you can do with a simple tablet or a thick laptop. So we designed a range of mobile computing experiences to meet the needs of the modern, mobile workforce—helping everyone do more at home, at the office, and on the go.

Versatility and performance are important – but as any frequent traveler will attest, durability is important as well. Designed for Function and Flexibility

The Notebook 9 Pen’s slim, single-shell body is as seamless and refined as ever, and now even more portable thanks to Samsung’s use of Metal12. This ultralight magnesium-aluminum alloy allows the notebook to weigh in at just 995 grams (2.2 pounds), which makes it one of the lightest in its class. In addition, the alloy itself has been treated with an advanced Micro Arc Oxidation (MAO) process that provides its surface with a tough oxide coating, enhancing durability.

The S Pen seamlessly slots into the bottom of the notebook, so it’s always there when you need it. And when inspiration strikes, the 360-degree convertible hinge lets you instantly transform the device from a notebook into a tablet, allowing you to comfortably access the vibrant, 13-inch RealView display from any angle.

Content depicted on the premium display is bright and accurate, thanks to the device’s peak brightness of 450 nits and ability to display 95 percent of the sRGB color space. This allows the notebook to produce lifelike colors and picture quality, which makes it a perfect fit for graphic designers, and makes everything from viewing a video to reading or browsing the web more immersive and engaging.

The display also features a wide, 178-degree viewing angle that allows it to be seen clearly when users adjust their position, or when they are viewing or collaborating on content with friends or colleagues.

Because the Notebook 9 Pen was designed for mobility, it also supports a variety of convenient charging methods that make it easy for users to power up on the go – even without the device’s compact adaptor. The notebook may be easily charged via a compatible smartphone charger or an external battery pack, and even supports fast charging.* So you won’t have to worry about a misplaced adaptor impeding your productivity.

S Pen Optimization

The Notebook 9 Pen’s S Pen is impeccably precise, featuring a 0.7mm tip and capable of recognizing up to 4,096 levels of pressure. This level of precision, along with the implement’s ability to detect when it’s been tilted, evokes an incredibly natural writing experience and allows artists to express fine details with ease.

The notebook automatically detects when the S Pen has been pulled out and springs into action, instantly launching the Air Command menu that houses convenient shortcuts for a wide array of S Pen features. These features, which will be familiar to users of Samsung’s Galaxy Note smartphones, include Smart Select, which lets you conveniently crop and capture a desired portion of your screen, and Screen Write, which allows you to easily mark up screen-captured images. And because the S Pen is – as always – battery-free, it’s always ready to help you express yourself and be productive.

Speaking of which, the Notebook 9 Pen also features several built-in tools, including versatile apps like Autodesk SketchBook and the Samsung Notes app, designed to help users express themselves and work more effectively. These apps add comfort and convenience to everything from doodling to writing, sketching, painting and more, and make each task that much more enjoyable.

Boost Productivity with Voice Notes and teamPL

The Notebook 9 Pen’s Voice Note function offers users an innovative way to record their – and others’ – brilliant ideas.

The software allows you to record crystal clear audio via the Notebook 9 Pen’s ‘far-field’ microphone, which utilizes advanced hardware, algorithms and noise suppression technology to isolate and record sounds even from distant sources. The function makes it easy to locate specific points in a recorded audio file – so finding a key highlight won’t require you to listen to the recording all over again – while also allowing you to mark and take notes within the file itself.

Another Notebook 9 Pen feature designed to help students and professionals work and study more efficiently is teamPL, a software solution that allows you to easily share what’s displayed on your screen with up to five friends or colleagues connected to the same network. Utilizing this feature will allow you to instantly show others what you’re working on or looking at, and help your team collaborate more effectively.

Seamlessly Sync Your Smartphone

The Notebook 9 Pen also boasts support for a variety of Samsung apps designed to streamline how users share files, capture memories, and communicate.

Support for the Samsung Link Sharing app makes it simple for users to share files stored on their PC – including photos, videos and documents – with their family, friends and colleagues. Transfers may be facilitated to virtually anyone with another PC or a smart device. **

The device’s Samsung Gallery integration, meanwhile, offers simple tools to streamline how users manage their most precious files: their photos and videos. Each time you use your phone*** to capture a memorable moment, Samsung Gallery will automatically sync the photo or video via Samsung Cloud so that it appears in the Notebook 9 Pen’s version of the app. This provides you with more freedom – and space – to manage and share your content.

Finally, the notebook’s Samsung Messages app allows you to instantly reply to incoming texts and message any of your contacts without ever reaching for your phone. You can even use the app to drag and drop large files (up to 1GB) saved on the Notebook 9 Pen to share them with contacts saved on your phone. ****

Seriously Secure

Along with packing a slew of seriously fun features, the Notebook 9 Pen comes preinstalled with Samsung Security, a seriously stout security solution designed to enhance users’ privacy and safeguard sensitive data.

The software’s Privacy Folder feature allows users to add an extra layer of protection to sensitive files; the Secret Screen function obscures the notebook’s screen so that it’s visible only to the user; and Block Recording ensures that your webcam is protected from unauthorized access and recording.

The Notebook 9 Pen’s Windows Hello support adds enterprise-grade biometric security to logins to streamline how users access their device and protect their data. The IR front-facing camera’s facial-recognition technology allows you to unlock your notebook with a glance, while the built-in fingerprint sensor lets you securely log in to your device, websites, and other services with a simple swipe – no password typing required.

The Notebook 9 Pen is currently available to preorder in Korea, and will launch in select markets in the first quarter of 2018.

The Notebook 9 Pen brings a thoughtfully refined design to the 2-in-1 PC. Its full metal chassis with premium magnesium aluminum – lighter than aluminum – alloy called Metal12 provides durability while keeping it super light at 2.2 pounds. The 360 degree hinge provides flexibility for users to convert to a tablet from a laptop with ease by rotating the keyboard behind the screen for convenience.

The Notebook 9 Pen provides ultimate convenience with a built-in, refined S Pen that gives users the freedom to doodle, write, sketch, paint and more. The S Pen is battery free, built into the device and designed for immediate use. The S Pen can recognize 4,096 levels of pressure with a fine 0.7mm tip and convenient tilt detection to allow a more natural writing and drawing experience. Samsung Notebook 9 (2018): Powerful Design, yet Lightweight and Thin

The bezel around the screen measures 6.2mm providing a more immersive experience. This means great portability without sacrificing screen size, as well as a stronger, more durable metal body featuring Metal12 which provides durability while keeping it super light.

The device also provides always-on power thanks to the 75Wh Hexacell battery, Samsung’s largest and most powerful battery placed inside a notebook. For the times when charging is necessary, it also supports fast charging.

Maximized for Mobility

With the Notebook 9, feeling is believing. That’s because it’s incredibly light. Weighing in at just 1.8 pounds**, the 13.3-inch Notebook 9 is recognized as one of the lightest notebook on the market today, making it effortless to carry and perfect for getting work done on the go.

To help users enjoy even greater levels of mobility, Samsung went to great lengths to ensure that the Notebook 9’s battery would be exceptionally versatile, and capable of charging via a variety of means. Hence, the new notebook’s ability to conveniently charge via both USB Type-C smartphone chargers as well as external battery packs that provide more than 10 watts of power.

Achieving such compatibility, which adds considerable convenience and ensures that Notebook 9 users are never far from a power source, was no simple feat.

To further boost users’ mobility, Samsung also optimized the Notebook 9’s battery with Adaptive Fast Charge technology (AFC), so you can power up fast and get to work faster. The 13.3-inch model’s battery lasts up to 7 hours on a single charge (the 15-inch model’s lasts 15), and fully charges in just 80 minutes. That means a quick 20-minute charge provides over two hours of power (or more than 3.5 hours for the 15-inch device)***.

A Balanced and Functional Design

When honing the Notebook 9’s aesthetic, Samsung envisioned a design that would complement the technology within the device rather than draw attention away from it. The color options, for instance – Crush White, Violet Blue and Light Titan – were selected because they exude elegance and aesthetic harmony. Thanks to this ‘neutral’ approach, the notebook looks balanced and is comfortable to use.

The Notebook 9’s design is also heavily informed by function. Rather than focusing on a design that looked thin and featured tapered edges, the team made sure that the notebook’s corners were soft and rounded. Seemingly small touches such as this make the Notebook 9 incredibly easy to grip and slip into a bag before heading out the door.

Strength Backed by Rocket Science

The Notebook 9 derives its lightness and strength from its single-shell structure and Samsung’s use of a newly developed magnesium compound. Incorporating this lightweight and sturdy material into the Notebook 9’s solid, single-shell design has allowed Samsung to create a notebook that’s not only seamless and incredibly strong, but also exceptionally thin and not prone to bend.

The development team managed to add further strength to the Notebook 9’s design by reinforcing its body through Micro Arc Oxidation (MAO) – a hardness-boosting surface treatment commonly used in the aerospace, aviation and defense industries.

The electrochemical process involves applying a thick, largely crystalline oxide coating to the notebook’s body that provides ample protection against corrosion, shocks and general wear and tear. Employing this ‘rocket science’ allowed Samsung to bolster the Notebook 9’s hardness while maintaining its market-leading lightness.

Streamlined for Productivity

PC and mobile technologies are vital in this digital age, which is why Samsung consistently strives to identify ways to leverage its leading experience with these technologies to create streamlined, integrated solutions. With this in mind, Samsung incorporated productivity-boosting software such as PC Message and PC Gallery****, which allow users to manage messages (SMS and MMS), videos and photos between their smartphone and Notebook 9 with a simple sync of the two devices.

In addition, the Notebook 9’s near edge-to-edge Samsung RealView Display makes snapped photos truly pop, with support for true-to-life colors, high brightness levels and a wide viewing angle. To offer users more freedom to take their work outside, Samsung also added an Outdoor Mode to the Notebook 9’s display settings, which provides clear visuals even in strong sunlight.

Tough security is essential no matter where you work, which is why the Notebook 9 also features a highly versatile fingerprint sensor. Featuring support for Windows Hello, this tool enables users to comfortably and securely sign in to their Notebook 9 with a single touch.

At first what may appear to sound as a contradiction, this conceptual approach is what drives the essence of the product and fuels the designer’s imagination. Is it possible for a laptop computer to be both functional; easy to use and still be aesthetically pleasing? To answer that, the Samsung Notebook 9 returned to the source and asked the question: ‘what is a laptop computer?’ – a bare essence question that through rigorous trial and speculation has coalesced into a new perspective for laptop computers.

Lighter

Like its namesake a laptop should be easy to hold and carry around, like a notebook. Lighter, and smaller is the way to go. In any case, it shouldn’t be cumbersome in your hand or in your bag.

The very essence of a laptop is this: portability. To maximize this potential, the goal was to reduce the mass of the device itself without sacrificing screen real estate. Comparing with previous 13 inch models, the width is 309.4mm and height 208mm for a smaller yet maximized laptop.

Instead of an aluminum exterior, a lighter magnesium compound was selected in reducing the 13 inch model to a mere 799 grams, improving the overall look & feel.

Smaller? Yes. Lighter? You bet. And still strong as ever. A lighter magnesium MAO surface treatment technology ensures a lightweight body with fortified exterior and corrosion resistant.

The practically invisible optical cable helps to solve the issue of unsightly cords and clutter that can be found in the home with a sleek, single cord system. Additional accessories include the optional “No-Gap Wall Mount,” which makes mounting a TV flush against the wall simpler and faster than ever before. Finally, for those who desire a variety of stylish options when displaying their TV, Samsung introduced two new optional elegant TV stands – Gravity and Studio – that appeal to the consumer who prefers an un-mounted TV.

In addition to the new TVs, Samsung also detailed plans to deliver a more unified experience for customers using various services and devices. Last year’s hit Samsung One Remote has been enhanced to support even more devices and offer voice control capabilities across more Smart TV features. And Samsung SmartView app – available on Android and iOS – allow users to get their personalized SmartHub experience right on their phone, as well as notifications of new content even when the user’s TV is off.

New to the Smart TV experience in 2017 is the Samsung Sports service. The Sports Service ensures that sports fans will never miss a moment, with customizable content and alerts based on a user’s team preferences, powered by real-time partnerships with the biggest content players in sports today.

Rounding out this year’s new Smart TV portfolio of offerings, Samsung has extended its popular global service, TV PLUS, to the U.S. market. A new entertainment app exclusively available on Samsung Smart TVs, TV PLUS conveniently brings high quality content into a single app on your TV for the most premium viewing experience. Paired with Samsung Checkout, TV Plus is the fastest way to connect with the entertainment consumers love, right out of the box. In addition, Samsung has also partnered with FandangoNow in the U.S. to bring instant access to rent or buy more than 40,000 movies and shows, including new releases in 4K HDR.

Additionally, Samsung announced their newest lifestyle TV innovation. The new Lifestyle TV offers a sleek, stunning design that was curated with an artful approach. This new TV was designed to appear just like a picture would appear on a wall, outfitted with an invisible cable that allows it to hang anywhere in the home, and blend seamlessly into any living space without those unsightly cables or wires. The Lifestyle TV was awarded a “2017 Best of Innovation Award” at CES 2017 and will be launched later this year.

Samsung showcased its 2017 lineup of home audio visual products, including the new Soundbar Sound+ which features a built-in sub-woofer, H7 Wireless Audio and the latest UHD Blu-ray Player. The products reflect a comprehensive suite of premium features with an eye toward heightened integration, as well as a premium, simplistic design that complements the user experience across multiple devices. Finally, the new Soundbar and H7 feature the rich and detailed sound of UHQ 32bit, which upscales from any source that provides 8-24bit sound.

Unprecedented Flexibility in the Home

Samsung unveiled a truly differentiated line of home appliances to give consumers more flexibility and choice in how they cook, clean and connect.

Bringing more flexibility into the laundry room, Samsung introduced FlexWash + FlexDry to meet the needs of today’s busy families. FlexWash is equipped with a 5.0 cu. ft. capacity front load washer, the largest in its class¹, to handle normal or bulky loads. It adds another cubic foot of capacity in a separate compartment on top for washing smaller loads separately from the main load. Both washers can run separately or simultaneously with different settings.

Meanwhile, FlexDry has the ability to tackle large laundry loads while gently drying a few delicate items at the same time at the top of the dryer. Suitable for items like athletic wear or a silk scarf, the unique Delicate Rack zone adjusts the heat automatically depending on the type of fabric being dried.

Signaling the company’s commitment to investing in categories in which its expertise and innovation can enrich and empower the lives of consumers, Samsung also introduced its line of new smart built-in appliances. This includes a new combination wall oven microwave, upgraded dishwasher, and matching line of premium refrigerators.

During the press conference, Samsung also announced Family Hub 2.0, the next generation of its award-winning refrigerator. Building upon Family Hub 1.0, which was introduced to wide acclaim last year, Family Hub 2.0 expands from four to 10 refrigerator models, so consumers can choose the refrigerator that best matches their household needs. It also features enhanced usability with intuitive app integration and new app partners to help families stay connected, manage food, and access more entertainment features on the refrigerator’s 21.5” LED touchscreen. For added convenience, Samsung’s advanced voice technology has also been integrated across many of Family Hub 2.0’s apps.

Fueling Passions with New Mobile Devices and Computers

This year at CES, Samsung introduced the next generation of mobile computing, with a range of new premium PCs that reflect the company’s commitment to design, craftsmanship, and choice. They include the Chromebook Plus and Chromebook Pro, a 15-inch Notebook 9 with a discrete GPU, and Samsung’s first-ever gaming laptop, the Notebook Odyssey.

The Samsung Chromebook Plus and Chromebook Pro are premium convertible laptops designed for Google Play, and can run millions of apps from the Google Play Store. The new Chromebooks feature a sleek yet durable metal body, and also go from notebook to tablet in a single snap. Samsung’s new 15-inch Notebook 9, which will be available in the U.S. this year, is built for maximum performance and exceptional mobility. Powered by the 7^th-generation Intel Kaby Lake processor, it also features a discrete GPU to tackle even the most hardware intensive tasks, from photo and video editing, to running programs on multiple monitors.

Lastly, Samsung’s first-ever gaming laptop, the Samsung Notebook Odyssey, offers a mobile experience that rivals a desktop rig for power, speed and comfort while still being light enough to carry in a backpack. The laptop will be available in 15 and 17-inch screen sizes. The 15-inch Odyssey is powered by Intel’s 7^th-generation Core i7 processor, with up to 32 GB of 2400 Mhz DDR4 RAM, up to 256 GB SSD and HDD dual storage, and an NVIDIA GTX 1050 graphics card. Samsung Electronic America announced availability of the Galaxy TabPro S, a two-in-one device created specifically for on-the-go consumers and mobile professionals. The powerful, sleek TabPro S – which runs Windows 10, and features an Intel® Core m3 processor – will be available beginning March 18 starting at $899.99 with a full-size ergonomic keyboard with trackpad.
