With a peak of about 42,000 viewers tuning in remotely at the same time through the Samsung Odyssey and other Twitch channels, the event combined the atmosphere of a live esports showdown with the reach of a global online broadcast. Team captains from  France, Germany, Spain and the UK competed on the main stage in front of a live audience, while their teammates joined the action remotely.

Samsung OLED FC captured the thrill of competition, from crowd reactions and influencer appearances to the winning play. Fans of Genshin Impact Enjoy the Experience of Gaming on the 37” and 40” New Large Odyssey Monitors

The centerpiece of Samsung’s booth was its full Odyssey OLED lineup (27”, 32” and 49”), along with the new large gaming monitors — the 37” and 40” Odyssey G7 (G75F). These large-screen displays deliver superb resolution and smooth, stutter-free gameplay with HDR10+ Gaming, AMD FreeSync Premium Pro and CoreSync backlight color-matching.

Fans were delighted by HoYoverse’s Genshin Impact on the new monitors, praising the sharp visuals and expansive field of view. “It’s definitely the perfect gadget to play Genshin Impact. It brings the characters and all the fighting to life,” said character cosplayer Anne Gerbest(@the.lunatic.ghost). Another fan who played Genshin Impact with the Odyssey G7 pointed out its standout advantage as “the size”. He said, “because you get so much from the picture on one monitor. I would recommend it to every gamer. G7 is my all-day gaming experience.”

Odyssey 3D Excites Players With New Partnership Expansions

Samsung also expanded its glasses-free Odyssey 3D gaming ecosystem with new content and partnerships. For the first time ever, attendees could play SHIFT UP’s Stellar Blade and Netmarble’s upcoming title, MONGIL: STAR DIVE, in 3D at the Samsung booth.¹

With Eye Tracking and View Mapping technology, Odyssey 3D adjusts depth effects for each character, background and scene. “This is definitely a brand-new gaming experience for me. The 3D makes the colors pop, and it pulls me into the scene,” said a fan after trying Stellar Blade.

Visitors also praised the immersive quality of Odyssey 3D while playing MONGIL: STAR DIVE. “I think it’s one of the best PC monitors I’ve played on,” said fan George Osborn. “It’s just so in-depth, during the battles, they come out of the monitor. It’s just incredible.”

Samsung also announced that the Odyssey 3D Hub will double its library from 28 to over 50 optimized 3D games by the end of the year, including Lies of P: Overture, Stellar Blade and MONGIL: STAR DIVE.²

Gamers at the booth also had the opportunity to experience the wide variety of games available on the Samsung Gaming Hub with the OLED S95F Vision AI TV. From WoW to Crimson Desert: Odyssey OLED Captured Fan Imagination at Partner Booths

Samsung’s largest partnership to date stretched across the show floor. Gamescom 2025 hosted the reveal of World of Warcraft: Midnight, with a new cinematic trailer and developer panels that unveiled more about the story and systems of the game’s 11th expansion.

At the World of Warcraft booth, fans were able to get their hands on the game’s new House system on more than 80 stations equipped with Odyssey OLED G6. Fans also watched live esports tournaments and showcases, powered by 500Hz ultra-high refresh rate Odyssey OLED G6 monitors directly from the booth’s Community Stage. “It was my first time playing on the Samsung OLED. I’ve been playing World of Warcraft for fifteen years, and it’s a really nice [new] feature, and the graphics are really great. I really liked it,” noted Jenny Degreef, a World of Warcraft fan.

Meanwhile, Pearl Abyss previewed its highly anticipated title, Crimson Desert, on approximately 180 Samsung 500Hz Odyssey OLED G6 and 4K 240Hz OLED G8 monitors.

After enjoying Crimson Desert on the Odyssey OLED G6, one gaming fan said, “I was amazed by how clear the graphics were. The environment looked so bright and colorful, and the saturation was amazing.” She added, “I really felt pulled into the game, and it was so much fun to play. I was amazed by the technology and everything about Samsung OLED G6.”

Fans Dive Into The Odyssey 3D Experience at The World of #PlayGalaxy Event

Beyond the main show floor, Samsung hosted The World of #PlayGalaxy at Dock² in downtown Cologne, featuring the Odyssey 3D and Galaxy Z Fold7. Visitors experienced MONGIL: STAR DIVE through mobile platforms, Odyssey’s immersive 3D gameplay and even rode shuttle buses wrapped as if transporting fans directly into the world of gaming.

Fans were delighted with the immersive 3D gameplay. Gamer, Thomas ‘Blysk’ Kopankiewicz added, “I just tried the MONGIL: STAR DIVE demo, and I really enjoyed it. The fight animations are amazing, and the battle scenes and dynamics are great too. I’m curious to see more of it.”

Held from August 20-25 in Cologne, Germany, Gamescom 2024 spanned an impressive 230,000 square meters. Over 1,400 companies from showcased their latest games and technology to more than 335,000 fans from around 120 countries at the annual gaming conference. A Magical Glasses-Free 3D Gaming Experience

The booth centered around Samsung’s newest Odyssey 3D monitor — a glasses-free display delivering a 3D experience unlike anything currently available on the market.

While preparing for Gamescom 2024, Samsung determined that the optimal distance to experience 3D gaming on the Odyssey 3D was about 60 cm (approximately 2 feet). Monitors at the booth were positioned from this distance, allowing fans to experience Eye Tracking and View Mapping technology that projects 3D graphics with astounding picture quality.

With these advancements, Samsung continues to build on its legacy of excellence and innovation by reshaping the gaming landscape and transforming how people interact with their favorite titles. Fans of all things gaming around the world tuned into the opening livestream, while 6,000 attendees gathered in person to see exciting announcements and demos from the biggest brands. During the opening livestream, attendees experienced new Samsung monitors — including the latest Odyssey OLED G8 — now available for preorder.

At the Samsung x YouTube Gaming Afterparty, well-known game creators and industry insiders had a chance to preview the best gaming devices on the market. With the new Odyssey OLED series, attendees were the first to play new titles, such as Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 from Focus, before their release.

“You need a high refresh rate for games as fast as the new Warhammer one that we get to play here,” said a gamer at the Afterparty. “The Odyssey OLED G6’s 360Hz refresh rate makes the action super smooth, so you can easily aim and see enemy movement without any annoying blur.”

This year’s Odyssey OLED series includes the 32-inch Odyssey OLED G8 in 4K UHD with a 240Hz refresh rate and the 27-inch Odyssey OLED G6 in QHD with a 360Hz refresh rate. YouTuber SugarStar was one of the gaming personalities who experienced the new monitors. “Graphics look fantastic on these monitors. The colors seem so vibrant and true to life, even without putting the brightness all the way up like you do on other monitors. All of the games here look great,” she said. “I also use an Odyssey monitor at home, and I love that I don’t need a PC connected to play. It made it easy to keep playing (console) games with Samsung Gaming Hub before my PC was built.”

The new Odyssey OLED gaming monitors showcased at Summer Game Fest include HDR10+ GAMING capabilities on select games like Cyberpunk 2077 and Red Dead Redemption 2. Players will automatically experience deeper color, contrast and brightness — without lengthy, manual calibration.

“If it ain’t like this, I don’t want it,” said YouTuber HipHopGamer, a popular gaming personality. “When you can move your mouse this fast, without blurring or stuttering, that’s what refresh rate is all about. Unlocking a premium visual experience, HDR10+ GAMING automatically adjusts the high-dynamic range (HDR) and the default HDR brightness of any game based on the specific capabilities of the monitor. Samsung Electronics today announced the global launch of its 2024 Odyssey OLED gaming monitor, Smart Monitor and ViewFinity monitor lineups.

These new and updated models bring features that people want — as well as some they don’t expect — to deliver new experiences, no matter how they use their monitors. The Odyssey lineup brings a next-level OLED experience and new AI capabilities¹ to the Odyssey OLED G8; the Smart Monitor lineup heightens joy with more enhanced entertainment features, plus the Smart Monitor M8 powered by AI; and the ViewFinity lineup boosts connectivity to create a complete workstation.

Odyssey OLED Series: Visual Excellence With New Burn-In Prevention Features

The 2024 Odyssey OLED models expand Samsung’s offerings of next-generation OLED performance with the new Odyssey OLED G8 (G80SD model) and Odyssey OLED G6 (G60SD model).

The Odyssey OLED G8 is the first flat 32” Samsung OLED gaming monitor with 4K UHD (3840 x 2160) resolution and a 16:9 aspect ratio. It has a 240Hz refresh rate and 0.03ms gray-to-gray (GtG) response time for ultra smooth and responsive gameplay. The Odyssey OLED G6 is a 27” QHD (2560 x 1440) resolution monitor, supporting a 16:9 aspect ratio. Its 360Hz refresh rate and 0.03ms GtG response time make it easy for gamers to keep up with fast-moving gameplay.

The new Odyssey OLED G8 is Samsung’s first OLED gaming monitor powered by AI. The NQ8 AI Gen3 processor, which is the same processor Samsung uses in its 2024 8K TV, upscales content to nearly 4K when using Samsung Gaming Hub² and the monitor’s native Smart TV apps for higher resolution in gaming and entertainment.³

Both new OLED models feature Samsung OLED Safeguard+, a new proprietary burn-in protection technology. This technology is the first in the world to prevent burn-in by applying a pulsating heat pipe to the monitor. Additionally, the Dynamic Cooling System evaporates and condenses a coolant to diffuse heat five times more effectively than the older graphite sheet method, which prevents burn-in by reducing temperature at the core. The monitor also detects static images like logos and taskbars, automatically reducing their brightness to provide another means of burn-in prevention.⁴

The Odyssey OLED G8 and OLED G6 both deliver unmatched OLED picture quality with a brightness of 250 nits (Typ.), while FreeSync Premium Pro keeps the GPU and display panel synced up to eliminate choppiness, screen lag and screen tearing.

Samsung’s new OLED Glare Free technology⁵ also preserves color accuracy and reduces reflections while maintaining image sharpness to ensure an immersive viewing experience, even in daylight. The OLED-optimized, low-reflection coating overcomes the trade-off between gloss and reflection thanks to a new, specialized hard-coating layer and surface coating pattern.

Both monitors feature a super slim metal design that gives them a distinct identity, while Core Lighting+ enhances entertainment and gaming experiences with ambient lighting that synchronizes with the screen. The ergonomic stand also makes long sessions more comfortable with adjustable height, plus tilt and swivel support.

The new Odyssey OLED monitors are the next entry to expand Samsung’s OLED monitor market leadership. Their release comes after Samsung achieved the top position in global sales in the OLED monitor market within only one year of launching its first OLED model.⁶ This achievement underscores Samsung’s rapid ascent in the competitive landscape of OLED monitors while reinforcing its commitment to diversifying its gaming monitor lineup with models that leverage the company’s proprietary OLED technology.

Smart Monitor M8: AI Processing for Crystal Clear Video and Audio

The updated Smart Monitor lineup brings together a complete multi-device experience into one hub for smarter entertainment and greater productivity. The upgraded 2024 models include the M8 (M80D model), M7 (M70D model) and the M5 (M50D model).

The upgraded 32” 4K UHD Smart Monitor M8 introduces new features powered by AI with the NQM AI processor, taking entertainment experiences to the next level. AI upscaling brings lower resolution content up to nearly 4K,⁷ and Active Voice Amplifier Pro uses AI to analyze background noise in the user’s environment to optimize dialogue in the user’s content.⁸ 360 Audio Mode⁹ is available on the M8, which pairs with Galaxy Buds to create an immersive sound environment. The built-in SlimFit Camera also makes it easy to conduct video calls through mobile applications with Samsung Dex.¹⁰

New to the entire line of Smart Monitors is a Workout Tracker,¹¹ which pairs with a Galaxy Watch to enable real-time health data on the screen, even while streaming content. This makes it easier to track workout goals and can make working out more enjoyable.

These new features enhance the already impressive Smart Monitor functionality. Smart TV apps and Samsung TV Plus¹² provide instant access to a wide range of streaming services and live content, without needing to boot up a PC or connect to other devices.¹³

The M7 is available in 32” and 43” with 4K UHD (3840 x 2160) resolution, a brightness of 300 nits (Typ.) and a gray to gray (GtG) response time of 4ms. The M5 is available in 27” and 32”, with FHD resolution (1920 x 1080), a brightness of 250 nits (Typ.) and a GtG response time of 4ms.

ViewFinity Series: Maximizing Creativity and Ease of Use

Optimized for creatives and professionals and built with responsible practices, the latest ViewFinity lineup includes the ViewFinity S8 (S80UD and S80D models), ViewFinity S7 (S70D model) and the ViewFinity S6 (S60UD and S60D models).

The updated 2024 ViewFinity monitors¹⁴ help recycling efforts by being made with a minimum of 10% recycled plastic and not applying chemical sprays to the plastic components.¹⁵ The packaging also uses glue instead of staples for easier disassembly.

The Easy Setup Stand is put together with one quick click, requiring no tools or screws, making it fast and easy to set up and enjoy the ViewFinity’s vibrant display. Every 2024 ViewFinity monitor supports HDR10 and the display of 1 billion colors, ensuring accurate color representation, while also integrating TÜV-Rheinland-certified Intelligent Eye Care features to alleviate eye strain during prolonged work periods.

The ViewFinity S8 offers 27” and 32” screen options, each with 4K UHD (3840 x 2160) resolution, a refresh rate of 60Hz and a brightness of 350 nits (Typ.). They also feature a USB hub for easy connectivity and a height-adjustable stand. The S80UD model includes a new KVM switch for easy connection and switching between two different input devices, as well as a USB-C port that allows users to charge devices with up to 90W of power.

The ViewFinity S7 is available in 27” and 32” options, each with UHD 4K (3840 x 2160) resolution, a brightness of 350 nits (Typ.) and a refresh rate of 60Hz. The ViewFinity S6 is available in 24”, 27” and 32” options, each with QHD (2560 x 1440) resolution, a refresh rate of 100Hz and a brightness of 350 nits (Typ.), including a USB hub and height-adjustable stand. Samsung Electronics, a global leader in the display industry, has secured the top position in global sales of OLED monitors just one year after launching its first OLED model — the 34″ Odyssey OLED G8 (G85SB model), a gaming monitor.

According to the International Data Corporation (IDC), Samsung Electronics has taken the top position in the global OLED monitor market by capturing 34.7% of market share based on total revenue and the top position in market share based on sales volume with 28.3% of OLED monitors sold in 2023.¹

Samsung Electronics today announced new Odyssey OLED gaming monitors debuting at CES® 2024, the world’s biggest tech event owned and produced by the Consumer Technology Association® (CTA), in Las Vegas next week.

The new OLED models deliver on the performance and visual clarity gamers look for in their monitors and include the Odyssey OLED G9 (G95SD model), Odyssey OLED G8 (G80SD model) and the Odyssey OLED G6 (G60SD model).

The Odyssey OLED G9 is a 49” curved ultra-wide gaming monitor with DQHD (5,120 x 1,440) resolution, a 32:9 aspect ratio and other upgraded features. The Odyssey OLED G8 is the first flat 32” Samsung OLED gaming monitor with 4K UHD (3,840 x 2,160) resolution and a 16:9 aspect ratio. Both monitors have a 240Hz refresh rate and 0.03ms GTG response time.¹ The Odyssey OLED G6 is a 27” QHD (2,560 x 1,440) monitor which supports a 16:9 aspect ratio, 360Hz refresh rate and 0.03ms GTG response time.

Technologies Enabling Delicate Nuance

All three new models feature OLED Glare-Free technology that minimizes light reflections, enabling an enhanced viewing experience without extra equipment, so users can play games with consistent brightness and color in nearly any lighting environment.

With VESA DisplayHDR True Black 400, the monitors deliver incredible details and vivid colors independent of the game or content being displayed. What’s more, they support AMD FreeSync Premium Pro for ultra-smooth, low-latency HDR gaming.

The three new monitors bring comprehensive physical connectivity, with two HDMI 2.1 ports, a USB hub and a DisplayPort 1.4 input. Users will also enjoy better comfort and convenience with VESA mount² compatibility and a height adjustable stand (HAS) that features tilt, swivel and pivot³ control points.

Connected Experiences in a Complete Ecosystem

The Odyssey OLED G9 and Odyssey OLED G8 now offer Multi Control, a new feature that provides seamless device connectivity for an easier, improved multi-device experience. Multi Control allows users to seamlessly transfer images and/or text between their Samsung monitor and other Samsung devices — including their Galaxy Book, tablet or phone — for a smoother, more efficient work process using their mouse and keyboard.⁴

Additionally, the Odyssey OLED G9 and Odyssey OLED G8 include the Samsung SmartThings Hub. With the built-in hub, users can connect to various IoT devices that are compatible with Matter and the Home Connectivity Alliance (HCA), for device control.⁵

When switching from work to play, the Odyssey OLED G9 and Odyssey OLED G8 monitors are all-in-one entertainment hubs. Equipped with the Samsung Smart TV platform and Samsung Gaming Hub, they provide access to streaming and cloud gaming services without downloads, storage constraints or the need for a PC/console.⁶

A Sleek Design To Light Up Any Space

For the first time, Samsung has brought flat OLED options to the Odyssey lineup and a 16:9 aspect ratio to the Odyssey OLED G8 and Odyssey OLED G6. The new models leverage the Odyssey OLED lineup’s unique, slim metal design and include new Core Lighting+ to fit in their slim bezels.

Core Lighting+ immerses users in the environments of their games and entertainment by emitting ambient light from the back of the monitor. And with a lighting circle four times slimmer than the previous model (G95SC model), it fits in seamlessly with the slim 3.9mm metal bezel. There’s also a new slim metal stand that adopts a tool-free assembly structure, using a 3mm metal plate that provides harmony with the display design and opens up space for other devices.

With the unveiling of these new models, Samsung has further strengthened its OLED lineup and bolstered its leadership position in the gaming monitor market.
