In this final installment, Samsung Newsroom editors and the Good Lock development team spotlight standout features.

Wonderland: Dynamic Customization for Lock and Home Screens

Wonderland enables users to create animated wallpapers for the lock and home screens — bringing a vibrant, dynamic aesthetic to the first screens encountered when the device is turned on.

Previously, the same wallpaper had to be applied to both the lock and home screens. However, in response to user feedback, each screen can now be customized independently for greater creative freedom.

Users can layer various design elements — such as images, text, videos and particle effects1 — and apply motion effects including left-right, up-down and front-back movement to create 3D wallpapers that respond dynamically to device tilt and touch.

▲ Wonderland

▲ A wallpaper created using Wonderland

Moreover, users can personalize the transition effects between the Always On Display (AOD) and the lock screen to add a stylish touch to their device’s first impression. Detailed controls over transition speed and depth allow for playful effects, such as stickers that appear and disappear over an image.

As one of Good Lock’s defining features, Wonderland combines creativity with the satisfaction of a visually immersive experience.

Edge Lighting+: Customized Notifications That Catch the Eye

Edge lighting+ transforms everyday notifications into eye-catching visuals — adding a personalized touch to every alert that appears on the screen.

Through the Set Custom Style menu, users can fully customize the image, color and animation that accompany incoming notifications. Beyond default images, stickers created on Galaxy devices can be applied to give each notification a unique and personal touch.

▲ Edge lighting+

The Style by keyword menu allows users to assign specific effects to notifications containing certain keywords — ensuring that important messages stand out. For example, terms like “boss,” “report” or “meeting” can trigger distinct visuals for relevant notifications.

Additional customization options include changing the notification image to appear as an app icon or activating effects only when the screen is off.

Despite its wide range of features, Edge lighting+ makes it easy for users to create stylish, personalized notifications with minimal effort.

Nice Shot: Effortless Screenshot Management

Nice Shot streamlines screenshot management — making it easy to capture, delete and organize images the moment they appear on screen.

A delete button appears immediately after taking a screenshot, allowing users to remove images they don’t need without opening the Gallery app.

▲ Deleting an unwanted screenshot using Nice Shot

Furthermore, users can configure their device to automatically enable Do Not Disturb mode during screen recordings to prevent interruptions from notifications or messages.

As one of Good Lock’s most practical enhancements, Nice Shot adds everyday convenience to Galaxy devices.

The diverse Good Lock features showcased throughout this series reflect the thoughtful collaboration between Galaxy users seeking a truly personalized experience and the Samsung developers dedicated to making that vision a reality.

By delivering greater convenience and deeper customization, Good Lock continues to evolve in step with the needs of its users and the creativity of its developers — and this is just the beginning.

For Galaxy users, true phone customization is made complete with Good Lock. Since the latest One UI 7 update, the app has drawn widespread attention for its broader and more flexible range of customization features — cementing its status as the go-to platform for creating a truly tailored Galaxy experience.

But which Good Lock features are users loving the most?

The first part of this series explored the Home Up module. In this second installment, Samsung Newsroom unveils the top three most popular features.1

Good Lock’s No. 1 Feature: Sound Assistant

Ever wished the volume could be tweaked just a little more precisely when listening to music?

Good Lock’s Sound Assistant was designed to address exactly these everyday audio frustrations. The feature has surpassed 21 million cumulative downloads since its release, making it the most widely used module in the Good Lock suite.

Sound Assistant allows users to fine-tune volume levels in increments from one to 10, enabling precise control for an optimal listening experience. The volume panel’s appearance can be customized, delivering satisfaction not only to the ears but also to the eyes.

▲ Sound Assistant

Users can manage volume settings for individual apps, assign the volume buttons to control media volume instead of ringtone volume and prevent media volume from decreasing during navigation use — eliminating minor inconveniences tied to personal preferences.

These subtle yet impactful elements make Sound Assistant a standout feature that delivers meaningful improvements to the everyday audio experience.

Good Lock’s No. 2 Feature: Theme Park

Theme Park, a feature that lets users personalize various user interface (UI) elements of their smartphones with custom themes, has surpassed 17 million cumulative downloads.

Curating a stylish theme but unsure how to choose the right color combination? Theme Park makes it easy to craft a visually cohesive and balanced look.

Users can customize the color scheme of individual UI components — including the keyboard, quick panel and messaging interface — or let the feature automatically generate a harmonious palette based on a selected background image. This intuitive tool allows even those without design experience to personalize their device with ease and style.

▲ Theme Park

With the One UI 7 update, advanced customization options have taken creativity to the next level. Users can now personalize not only app icons but also the shape and color of home screen folders. For those looking to design custom icons and folder styles, the Create Icon Theme feature within Theme Park offers a simple yet powerful way to bring a unique aesthetic to the home screen.

Good Lock’s No. 3 Feature: One Hand Operation+

Ranking third among the most-used Good Lock features, One Hand Operation+ has proven its practicality with more than 16 million cumulative downloads.

This feature enables users to perform frequently used smartphone functions with a single thumb gesture, making it particularly helpful for multitasking throughout the day. Whether holding a drink in one hand or navigating through a crowded bus on the way to work, One Hand Operation+ guarantees users smooth, effortless control of their device.

The tool supports both left and right-handed users and allows specific functions to be assigned to horizontal, vertical or diagonal gestures. For instance, a left horizontal swipe could be set to “Back,” a right downward diagonal swipe to “Home” and an upward diagonal swipe to open “Recent Apps” or launch AI Select.

Users can further customize and refine gesture control settings to match their preferences and usage patterns. Options include adjusting the touch recognition range and gesture vibration intensity, excluding specific apps from gesture activation and even configuring gestures for the S Pen.

This feature is especially useful in busy daily routines — an underrated yet powerful capability that delivers exceptional convenience with a single, simple gesture.

This overview of the top three most popular Good Lock features highlights the customization functions Galaxy users rely on most in their daily lives. With many capabilities still left to explore, however, Good Lock has much more to offer.

For Galaxy users eager to express their style, Good Lock by Samsung Electronics is the ultimate tool for device personalization. With the One UI 7 update, this must-have app now delivers an even more versatile suite of user interface (UI) customization features tailored to individual preferences.

Among the many enhancements, the upgraded Home Up module stands out — introducing greater design flexibility and significantly expanding home screen customization capabilities. Samsung Newsroom explores the latest in UI personalization with an in-depth look at what the new Home Up has to offer.

DIY Home Screen: A Fresh Take on App Layout and Organization

▲ (From left) A comparison of the default Galaxy S25 Ultra home screen and a customized home screen using Good Lock

Breaking away from traditional grids and uniform app icons, the DIY Home Screen feature in Home Up empowers users to design a layout that reflects their unique style. Apps, widgets and folders can all be freely resized and repositioned — much like customizing the pages of a planner.

▲ DIY Home Screen

For a playful touch, users can cleverly conceal app icons underneath decorative elements with sticker and layer tools. Simply add a sticker to the home screen, place it over an app icon and adjust the layer settings. This setup transforms the sticker into a fun shortcut that launches the hidden app when tapped.

▲ Hiding an app underneath a sticker using the DIY Home Screen feature

Show Favorites: Display or Hide the Favorite Apps Row

The fixed row of favorites at the bottom of the home screen is a familiar element on most smartphones. With Good Lock, however, this default layout is easy to customize. Users who prefer a cleaner, more minimalist aesthetic can disable the Show Favorites option in the Home Up menu for a simplified and refreshed home screen experience.

▲ Show Favorites

Home Gesture Animation: Fine-Tuned Control for Smoother Navigation

The Home Gesture Animation feature — found under Good Lock > Home Up > Gesture Settings — is perfect for users who want to add a touch of personality to every interaction. The feature offers a unique way to customize the transition animations activated when returning from an app to the home screen, making even the simplest gestures more expressive and enjoyable.

Alongside the four preset animation styles, Advanced Tuning provide granular control over aspects like speed and vibration for a more refined user experience.

The Home Up module within Good Lock offers a set of useful tools for customizing device home screens to match personal preferences. In the next article in this series, Samsung Newsroom will spotlight the top three most popular Good Lock features — fan favorites among Galaxy users around the world.

Samsung Electronics today announced that the official rollout of One UI 7 will start April 7,1 bringing a bold new design for greater personalization and control to the user experience. The update will be available starting with the Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy Z Fold6 and Z Flip6, gradually rolling out to more Galaxy smartphones and tablets.

Bold New Design for Greater Personalization

One UI 7 comes with a simple, impactful and emotive design, bringing streamlined and cohesive experience to Galaxy users. A simplified home screen, redesigned One UI widgets and lock screen allow users to intuitively and seamlessly customize their devices.

For added convenience, Now Bar2 provides real-time updates that matter most right on the lock screen. So during a morning run, users can easily check their progress and see what song is playing in your Galaxy Buds — all with a simple swipe, without unlocking their phone.

Smarter AI Features for More Intuitive Experience

One UI 7 introduces seamless AI-driven experiences that help users to stay productive and explore their creativity.

With Galaxy AI, users can simplify everyday tasks, minimizing the need to switch between applications. AI Select3 intuitively recommends by understanding context. For example, a user can simple swipe the Edge Panel and click ‘AI Select’ icon when watching a video to save it as a GIF file. Writing Assist4 allows users to easily summarize or automatically format contents in which texts can be selected.

One UI 7 also enables simple edits to give users more creative control and freedom. Drawing Assist5 helps bring ideas to life with more than a single input, including combinations of text prompts and images or sketches. Audio Eraser6 makes advanced editing accessible for all, by isolating categories of sounds and removing unwanted noise in videos.

With deeper Google Gemini7 integration, controlling the device is as easy as speaking to a friend. Long-press the side button and say, “Find Italian, pet-friendly restaurants with outdoor seating nearby.” Gemini instantly pulls up recommendations in one seamless interaction.

Natural language search8 extends to Settings, making it easier to adjust preferences. Users can simply go into Settings and say “My eyes are feeling tired.” In an instant, recommended options such as adjusting brightness or turning on Eye comfort shield appear.

The Galaxy S25 series has redefined how we interact with our phones and the world around us, helping elevate the power of Galaxy AI1 to the next level. These more natural, context-aware and personalized mobile experiences bring new possibilities to Samsung’s full device ecosystem, including the Galaxy Buds3 series.

And now, with the rollout of One UI 7, you can access the most convenient and intelligent audio with Galaxy Buds3 and Buds3 Pro. Easily change sound settings on the quick settings panel and have your preferences applied to specific apps, all for your convenience. Plus, users can enjoy the more accessible, personalized audio experience enabled by Adapt sound feature.

Let’s take a closer look at how the Galaxy Buds3 series can enhance and transform your everyday soundscape.

New Features for Advanced Customization and Convenient Control

Adjust Sound Settings With More Convenience

Fine-tuning your audio should be quick and easy so you can enjoy whatever you’re listening to anytime, anywhere. Galaxy Buds3 series makes the job much simpler with One UI 7, eliminating the need to separately access the Galaxy Wearable app on your smartphone each time you want to adjust the settings for your device. Now for the first time, conveniently adjust volume, noise control and sound settings all from your device’s quick settings panel for a hassle-free listening experience.

How to Adjust Buds Setting on Quick settings panel

Personalize Sound Settings for Specific Apps

Sound setting preferences often vary by the app you’re using. For instance, when listening to music you may prefer the bass turned high, but when watching a movie, you prefer a more immersive 360-degree sound experience. With App sound settings, you no longer need to adjust sound settings each time you visit an app. Simply set your sound preferences for individual apps2 once via quick settings panel, and the Galaxy Buds3 series will automatically apply them whenever the app starts playing media. A first-of-its-kind feature, this capability delivers a more seamless daily audio routine, tailored to your liking.

Tailored Sound for Personal Hearing Needs

An Intelligent Audio Experience for All

With the power of Galaxy AI, the Galaxy Buds3 series not only offers greater convenience, but supports enhanced communication with features that eliminate language barriers and enrich sound regardless of how you wear your earbuds or your environment, for more intelligently tailored moments.

Seamless Communication in 20 Languages

With Interpreter4 in Listening mode, language barriers are no longer an obstacle. Whether listening to a lecture in a foreign language or having a conversation with someone in another language, Interpreter in Listening Mode allows you to hear the translation directly through your Galaxy Buds plugged into your ears without needing to look at your smartphone. Now, you can focus solely on the conversation and engage with others face-to-face.

Intelligently Optimized Sound, Anytime, Anywhere

Regardless of how you choose to wear your earbuds, the microphones in the Galaxy Buds3 series analyze both internal and external sound in real time to apply the optimal sound and Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) through Adaptive EQ and Adaptive ANC for each user.

What’s more, Galaxy Buds3 Pro can intelligently optimize sound in any environment. You can still enjoy your music fully when walking at a park, with Adaptive Noise Control constantly analyzing surrounding sound and automatically adjusting the optimal level of noise without you needing to make any manual adjustments. Siren Detect and Voice Detect5 automatically recognizes emergency siren or your voice and raises the ambient sound, allowing you to stay aware of your surroundings or focus your attention on your conversation.

Galaxy Unpacked 2025 in San Jose, California, set the stage for the next wave of AI-powered experiences with Galaxy AI.

On January 22, Samsung Electronics announced the release of the Galaxy S25 series, featuring significant hardware upgrades and ushering in a new era of AI-driven innovation. These advancements empower users to unlock new realms of creativity, forge deeper connections and streamline everyday tasks like never before.

The Galaxy S25 series transcends the concept of a smartphone to become a platform for AI integration, with Galaxy AI set to redefine everyday experiences through personalized, meaningful and human-like interactions.

▲ TM Roh, President and Head of the MX Business at Samsung Electronics, delivers his keynote address at Galaxy Unpacked 2025.

“The Galaxy S25 series has set a new standard of mobile AI innovation though an AI OS we built from the ground up,” said TM Roh, President and Head of the Mobile eXperience Business at Samsung Electronics, during his keynote address. “Thanks to One UI 7 and its integrated AI agents, users can effortlessly enjoy a more personalized, intuitive and natural mobile experience than ever before.”

Samsung Newsroom explored how the Galaxy S25 series is setting new standards with intuitive solutions that reshape the way people interact with technology.

New Ways To Get Things Done: AI That Learns, Adapts and Delivers

At the heart of the Galaxy S25 series is the evolution of its AI capabilities, powered by the next-generation One UI 7 operating system. This upgrade introduces advanced features designed to make tasks easy and intuitive. For example, the newly introduced Now Brief learns user routines and delivers customized information like exercise updates, translations, music and more, directly to the lock screen, eliminating the need to toggle between multiple apps.

▲ Drew Blackard, VP of Product Management at Samsung Electronics America, introduces the audience to the Galaxy S25 series’ many advanced Galaxy AI features.

Another game-changing feature is AI Select, introduced for the first time on the Galaxy S25 series. Accessible through the Edge Panel, AI Select functions as a personal AI assistant, capable of summarizing lengthy articles in seconds or aiding in creative tasks like generating colorful images with Drawing Assist.

With One UI 7, the Galaxy S25 series’ built-in multimodal AI recognizes natural language, images and text, enabling users to interact naturally and achieve more with minimal effort. This means its intelligent features can be triggered by simple voice commands. For instance, saying “My eyes are tired” prompts the Galaxy S25 series to activate the blue light filter, while “Find a photo of Max from last winter in a red coat, eating cake” searches the Gallery app to locate the desired image.

▲ Gallery Search (top) and the music recognition capability added to Circle to Search (bottom)

Circle to Search has also been enhanced to identify music playing on-screen without needing to open a separate app.

While watching YouTube videos, users can also issue voice commands like “List the place mentioned in this video and save it as a Note,” and Galaxy AI, powered by Google’s Gemini, seamlessly saves the location directly to Samsung Notes.

▲ Sissi Hsiao, VP at Google and GM for Gemini Experiences, discusses the collaboration between Samsung Electronics and Google.

The Galaxy S25 series features a Personal Data Engine, developed in partnership with Oxford Semantic Technologies, which contextually understands user preferences and routines while safeguarding data. What’s more, the Galaxy S25 series adopts C2PA (Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity) standards, reinforcing transparency and trust and ensuring privacy remains a top priority in this AI-driven digital era.

▲ Jay Kim, EVP and Head of Customer Experience Office at Mobile eXperience Business, Samsung Electronics, explains the evolution of One UI into an integrated AI platform.

Samsung continues to advance Galaxy AI through strategic partnerships with third-party app developers and AI solution providers, cementing its position at the forefront of secure AI innovation.

New Ways To Play: Power, Performance and Visual Excellence

The Galaxy S25 series is powered by the Snapdragon® 8 Elite for Galaxy processor (AP), delivering a significant leap in speed and efficiency. With 40% improved NPU performance, 37% enhanced GPU performance and 30% upgraded GPU performance compared to its predecessor, this processor drives the series’ advanced AI capabilities.

▲ Kareen Stephens, Senior Marketing Manager at Samsung Electronics America, explains how powerful the performance of Galaxy S25 series’ mobile AP is

Designed with gamers in mind, the Galaxy S25 series opens up new possibilities for mobile gaming. ProScaler, a display feature that utilizes AI-powered algorithmic processing, reduces noise and enhances the clarity of on-screen visuals, enabling smoother, more immersive gameplay. Along with Vulkan and game engine optimizations, the series offers a 40% boost in Ray Tracing performance, raising the bar for mobile gaming visuals.

Heat dissipation is another standout capability, with a vapor chamber roughly 40% larger than before.1 This advancement ensures more efficient heat management, even during intense gaming sessions.

Additionally, the Galaxy S25 series offers longer battery life and faster charging. Wireless charging speeds have increased to 25W (up from 15W), and the charging time for the 5000mAh battery has been halved — from two hours to just one.

The Galaxy S25 Ultra boasts premium durability with a new glass-ceramic cover and a more robust display equipped with Corning® Gorilla® Armor 2.

New Ways To Create: Unlocking New Camera Possibilities With AI

The Galaxy S25 series revolutionizes mobile photography with an upgraded ProVisual Engine that delivers unprecedented AI camera capabilities. AI learning has evolved to capture intricate details, from hair texture to the sparkle in one’s eyes, adding life-like vibrancy to every shot.

With improved AP performance, the series takes Nightography to new heights, creating clearer night photos. The Galaxy S25 Ultra also features the series’ first 50MP ultra-wide-angle camera, offering an expansive field of view for capturing stunning landscapes and group shots.

Video creation is equally innovative with enhanced AI-powered video editing tools. The Audio Eraser feature, for example, eliminates distracting sounds from videos so users can capture special moments to perfection.

* Actual UX/UI may vary.

For over a decade, people all over the world have consistently enhanced their productivity and creativity by turning to Galaxy smartphones. Chief among them, the Galaxy S Ultra series, which is built on a legacy of innovation of our Galaxy Note series has become synonymous with boundless creativity and is loved by countless Galaxy fans.

With its incredible power, expansive screen and iconic S Pen, Galaxy S Ultra is renowned for helping people seamlessly follow their inspirations or capture ideas anytime, anywhere – even without unlocking the phone and digging for a note-taking app.

Creativity Like Never Before

Last year, Samsung Electronics introduced Galaxy AI, ushering a new era of mobile experiences. This groundbreaking technology helped the Galaxy S Ultra series evolve into an even more indispensable tool for maximizing creative freedom. And now, your creativity is about to reach new heights.

Sketch to Image, now integrated into Drawing Assist, is now evolving. Utilizing more than a single input, like drawing with the S Pen or one’s finger, to a multimodal experience. Now, users can breathe life into their ideas by sketching them, describing the image they want with text or using voice commands to tell their Galaxy smartphone what to draw. If it can be envisioned, Galaxy AI can create it.

Let’s say you just want to really let your imagination run wild. With Galaxy AI’s multimodal capabilities, you can draw a cat using S Pen and then, type a “spacesuit” to put that cat in a space suit and send it to outer space. Or picture your dream home. Using the S Pen, you can make a quick drawing of the facade. But maybe you’re not sure where you want that dream home to be. Simply type some possible locations, like “by the beach” or “up in the mountains” and Drawing Assist will help you see your future home in a new light.

From Note to Ultra and Beyond

This level of creative freedom is built on a legacy of innovation that began in 2011, when we introduced the Galaxy Note to redefine what was creatively possible on a smartphone. That power and spirit of innovation lives on through the Galaxy S Ultra series, and it continues to evolve with Galaxy AI.

With One UI 7, Samsung’s first integrated AI platform, Galaxy smartphones will become true AI companions that understand natural language through text, speech and images. They will set a new standard of multimodal mobile AI for unprecedented creativity. But this is just a preview – tune into Galaxy Unpacked on January 22 to see how the next Galaxy S series can truly unleash your creativity.

Imagine having less stress and more time. Picture getting the help you need before you have to ask. In the era of mobile AI, the freedom to focus on what matters most to you isn’t a dream, it’s reality — and it’s coming soon to Galaxy.

A few weeks ago, we launched the One UI 7 beta program. It marked the start of a new era with the first AI-integrated operating system, a true AI platform that vastly improves mobile experiences for users through unprecedented personalization.

Galaxy’s approach to AI personalization, from our launch of the first AI phone to our continuous innovation of on-device AI, is to never compromise on privacy. We know you want the benefits of mobile AI that truly understands you. You want a phone, tailored to your lifestyle, that adds to what you can do while removing everyday barriers — all with no risk of personal information being misused.

In anticipation of the next standard-setting Galaxy S series smartphones, we’re giving Galaxy users greater peace of mind alongside greater personalization. That’s why we’ve created the Personal Data Engine, a powerful privacy advancement that ensures on-device, cross-app personal data protection.

Personalized data is stored in a secure space, carefully safeguarded by an encryption key that’s managed by Knox Vault. That’s the same trusted platform used to secure the most sensitive information on your smartphone, such as your biometric data. And as an added layer of protection, post-quantum cryptography future-proofs the security of your data against rising quantum computing threats.

* Actual UX/UI may vary.

On this fortified foundation of privacy, we’re opening up more possibilities for mobile experiences tailored to your life, only with Galaxy.

One defining element of One UI 7 is Now Bar, which gives personalization a new meaning by seamlessly integrating your everyday actions and most-used apps into your lock screen. It’s where you’ll control your entertainment, time your next personal best workout, get directions to your next meeting or start communicating in other languages.

Now Bar will also be an access point for the most comprehensively insightful experiences ever on Galaxy. Now, your phone won’t just ping you, it will power your lifestyle.

Imagine you’re packing for a trip from Seoul, Korea, to San Jose, California. While you get ready, your phone offers a prompt to create a folder of your essential apps for quicker access. So you don’t miss your flight, it lets you know when it’s time to leave for the airport. It even provides a curated travel playlist to set the mood for your long flight.

With a single swipe, you can access the weather forecast — no need to search or check various apps. Throughout your trip, your phone captures the magic of each moment, and as each day winds down, it helps you relive the highlights.

Morning and night, Galaxy AI will keep you both informed and inspired with actionable tips and recommendations1 uniquely tailored to your life. Game-changing personalization with privacy you can always trust. This is the next evolution of Galaxy AI.

1 Some features may require Samsung Account login. Service availability may vary by country, language, device model, apps.

Samsung Electronics today announced the public release of the One UI 7 beta program, boasting powerful AI features, simplified controls and a preview of scalable AI ecosystems of the future. One UI 7 marks a significant leap forward by integrating leading AI agents and multimodal capabilities into every touch point of the interface, creating an AI platform where every interaction feels natural and intuitive. The beta program offers a first look at an upgraded mobile user experience for greater personalization than ever before.

Enhanced AI Enables More Intuitive User Experiences

One UI 7 brings powerful updates to Galaxy AI features1 including advanced writing assist tools. Integrated into AI OS, they allow users to boost their productivity where texts can be selected, without needing to switch between applications. This capability expands on the powerful writing assist tools already available to Galaxy users, offering AI-powered options to summarize content, check spelling and grammar, and automatically format notes into bullet points.

Upgraded call features with One UI 7 push the boundaries of communication and connection through call transcripts, with support for 20 languages.2 When call recording is enabled, recorded calls will automatically be transcribed for reference later on, eliminating the need to take notes manually while multi-tasking.

Bold New Design for Greater Personalization and Control

One UI 7’s powerful AI features come with a significant new look, based on a new notification system that streamlines communication with easy access from the device’s lock screen. It includes Now Bar, which highlights relevant activities across various features like Interpreter, Music, Recording, Stopwatch and more. By offering instant access to important notifications, Now Bar reduces the need to constantly unlock the device and allows users to engage with key information effortlessly. Set to be supported on upcoming Galaxy S series devices, Now Bar will transform the lock screen experience, which will continue to evolve with more intelligent experiences in the future.

These feature upgrades are all anchored in a simple, impactful and emotive design. Together, these principles shape streamlined and cohesive experiences for Galaxy users. Defined by bold, iconic design choices, One UI 7 reduces visual clutter and fosters an inviting experience designed to resonate with users on a personal level and enable intuitive mobile experiences across AI features.

A simplified home screen, redesigned One UI widgets and lock screen — among other features — work together to grant users granular control over every detail and make customization intuitive and seamless.

A redesigned camera UX allows more intuitive control over advanced settings. Camera buttons, controls and modes have been reorganized to make it easier to find the features you need and to give you a clearer preview of the picture you’re taking or the video you’re recording.

Samsung Electronics today announced the One UI 7 beta program,1 opening an advance look at fortified, Samsung Galaxy-exclusive security measures. At every layer, the latest One UI protects personal data while providing all types of users with choice, transparency and integrated security settings — because in the era of AI, there is no privacy without holistic security.

Knox Matrix Unlocks Ultimate Transparency

Knox Matrix is Samsung’s vision for the future, enhancing protection through multi-layered, intelligent threat monitoring between connected Samsung devices. One UI 7 sets the foundation for the next frontier of security.

Knox Matrix monitors devices through Trust Chain, a secure private blockchain — and the new Knox Matrix dashboard introduces an easier way to maintain transparent security across a connected device ecosystem. With One UI 7, it’s more intuitive than ever to check the security status of multiple Samsung smart devices, including Galaxy mobile devices, TVs and home appliances, at a glance. When all connected devices are up to date and no risks are detected, they will show as ‘green,’ or secure. Users can also see if a device is at risk, and the dashboard will prompt an actionable recommendation to mitigate the threat.

A new recovery method for Enhanced Data Protection adds ease and convenience to the process of retrieving data stored on Samsung Cloud. Enhanced Data Protection keeps connected devices synchronized and secure, also ensuring that if access to a trusted device is lost, users have a backup plan to prevent the loss of their data. With One UI 7, users can now transfer recovered, private data to a new device by verifying the lock screen factor — whether pin, pattern or password — of their previous device.

As part of Knox Matrix’s Credential Sync, Samsung has developed new ways to manage and secure identities and credentials for today’s hyperconnected world in the form of passkeys.2 With One UI 7, users can now create and use passkeys to log into their Samsung Account. As digital authentication credentials, passkeys enable a faster, easier way to securely log in to apps, devices and websites — so users can safely sign into their TVs, AI Family Hub refrigerator and more, simply by using the fingerprint sensor on their smartphones.

Maximum Restrictions Boost User Control

Maximum Restrictions establishes a powerful line of defense against today’s cyber threats. One UI 7 further enhances user choice with new features designed to protect those who may need additional safeguards. Maximum Restrictions has been updated with added controls for network connections so users can enjoy the peace of mind that comes from boosted protection without losing access to key device functionalities. Thanks to the added controls, users have the choice to block 2G service and prevent data from being intercepted when connected to potentially unsafe networks. Users can also prevent unintended automatic reconnection to certain Wi-Fi networks3 that may be less secure, ensuring data remains private while still having the option to connect manually if desired.

This update enhances Maximum Restrictions’ existing suite of protections for Samsung Messages and Samsung Gallery, which allows users to remove location data in shared photos, prevent automatic attachment downloads and block hyperlinks, previews and shared albums.

More Security Settings Bring Added Device Protection

One UI 7 introduces even more ways users can adjust security settings to best suit the ways in which they use their device. Users can choose to block USB connections to prevent any other access through the USB port while the device is locked, except for battery charging.

To protect against malicious apps that come from sideloading, One UI 7’s new Safe Install system works alongside Auto Blocker to send a warning when a user attempts to download from an unauthorized source, alerting them of security risks and preventing unintentional sideloading on Galaxy devices worldwide.4

Theft Protection Enhances Data Privacy

One UI 7 introduces new features available only on Galaxy devices to the Android suite of theft protection solutions, enhancing the safeguards in place to ensure personal data remains secure even when devices are lost or stolen. In addition to Theft Detection Lock,5 Offline Device Lock and Remote Lock, Galaxy users can now leverage additional security measures in Identity Check, an opt-in feature designed for when a device’s PIN becomes compromised. If suspicious activity is detected, users can rest assured that these Galaxy-exclusive protections will kick in.

When in an unfamiliar location, biometric authentication will be required to make any changes to important security settings that could put personal information at risk.

As an added safeguard, a one-hour security delay will prevent unauthorized users from making any immediate changes to the device.

One UI 7 is the next step in Samsung’s commitment to privacy on AI, introducing advanced security features to ensure complete protection in the era of AI. The official One UI 7 release will commence with upcoming Galaxy S series devices, featuring additional AI capabilities including enhanced, hardware-dependent on-device AI functions, starting from the first quarter of 2025. In line with Samsung’s commitment to extend its OS upgrade policy, the update will gradually roll out to other Galaxy devices.

The One UI 7 beta program will be first available for Galaxy S24 series devices in Germany, India, Korea, Poland, the U.K. and the U.S., from December 5. Galaxy S24 series users can apply to join the beta program via Samsung Members.

3 Maximum Restrictions prevents automatic, unintended reconnection to less secure networks, which may include Open, Opportunistic Wireless Encryption (OWE) or Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP). This protects users from device traffic that may be interrupted.

Samsung Electronics today held its annual Samsung Developer Conference (SDC) at the San Jose McEnery Convention Center. Celebrating a decade of collaboration and innovation with developers, the company shared its vision for providing a more personalized and secure experience with the latest multi-device AI technology in the spirit of “AI for All.”

With about 3,000 developers, partners and media in attendance, Jong-Hee (JH) Han, Vice Chairman, CEO and Head of Device eXperience (DX) Division at Samsung Electronics said, “We have continued our journey of innovation with our many developers and partners for the last ten years,” highlighting the importance of open collaboration to strengthen both competitiveness and mutual growth in today’s AI era.

JH shared further detail surrounding the company’s commitment to using AI technology to offer stronger security, advanced personalization, better family care experiences and new opportunities for B2B businesses. “Samsung Electronics will continue advancing AI technology to a level where AI automatically recognizes each user individually — from their voice to their location — to provide a more personalized experience,” he explained. “These efforts will create more convenient and secure multi-device experiences by leveraging Samsung’s AI-based software, platform innovation and security technology.”

In addition, the company announced that it will integrate the software experience of its major product lines — from mobile devices to TVs and home appliances — under the name One UI next year. By providing a cohesive product experience and committing to software upgrades for up to seven years, Samsung will continue to bring innovation for its customers.

To realize its AI for All vision, Samsung will also create AI for good, empowering innovators to leverage new technologies to break new ground, address societal challenges head-on and create a better world for future generations.

Samsung Reiterates AI for All Innovation

At SDC24, the company reiterated its commitment to use AI technology to open possibilities, protect personal information and enhance the daily lives of all who use it. Building on over a decade of investment into advanced intelligence technologies, Samsung shared how its commitment to AI for All is guiding the company’s research and innovation roadmap for developers and customers alike.

Inspired by the need to create AI rooted in personalization for every individual, Samsung’s AI is made for all; it’s for families who want to make managing their evening routines easier, homeowners who are getting used to new spaces, and creators and innovators exploring cutting-edge technologies for inspiration. Samsung is providing AI for All without compromising privacy by leveraging on-device AI capabilities, while continuing to offer game-changing performance through cloud and generative AI.

Samsung is also committed to developing AI to better our world, as all employees uphold the global AI ethics principles of “Fairness,” “Transparency” and “Accountability” for both developing and using AI.

The AI for All strategy will more closely integrate Galaxy AI on mobile devices to enhance productivity, creativity and communication; Bespoke AI appliances to simplify users’ daily life; AI-powered displays on Samsung smart TVs with Tizen; and cross-platform AI enhancements coming to Bixby, SmartThings and One UI 7.

A Sneak Peek at One UI 7

One UI has always been designed to bring users the most personalized, creative and productive experiences possible on mobile devices. Samsung previewed a sneak peek of One UI 7 at SDC24, highlighting its new UX focused on simple, impactful and emotive design alongside more ways to seamlessly integrate Galaxy AI features into daily activities. One UI 7 beta will be available to developers before the end of this year.

The AI Home Comes to Life

Samsung’s Bespoke AI appliances are bringing better experiences to the entire household, from the kitchen to the living room. With AI Vision Inside1 in the refrigerator with AI Family Hub or AI-applied features like AI Floor Detect in the Bespoke Jet Bot Combo AI, Samsung’s smart home appliances leverage the best of AI technology to make lives better, simpler and easier than ever.

That capability grows even stronger with the AI-upgraded Bixby.2 Users can control their entire smart home from anywhere within earshot of a Bixby-enabled appliance. Bixby also provides accessibility benefits for users. For increased accessibility at home, it can open appliance doors with a simple call, without wake-up commands3 thanks to the Auto Open Door.

Bixby’s enhanced capabilities extend to Samsung smart TVs, as well. Users can now search for content using only descriptive details and customizing settings with multiple commands, thanks to Bixby. Inspired by a continued commitment to simplifying the lives of everyday users, the mobile remote control feature enables users to control their TV from their phone and Samsung AI Cast can send AI-generated results from mobile devices to the TV. Available from the TV home screen, users can enjoy images and content lists developed with generative AI, including an integration with ChatGPT, now on a bigger display.

Samsung is integrating AI across its visual display applications too, from AI Upscaling and AI Customization on smart TVs to offering a new Daily Board Software Development Kit (SDK) for developers to turn any smart TV screen into a one-stop-shop for daily information like weather, device health and local updates through a new partnership with Nextdoor.

Next-Generation Signage Solutions With VXT

Samsung also showcased the next generation of signage solutions with Visual Experience Transformation (VXT), its software platform and accompanying content management solution (CMS) for content production, operation and management. By using an AI-powered chatbot with the Pre-Integrated Repeatable Solution (PIRS) & Widget aNd Extension (WiNE) Framework, VXT offers efficient, streamlined signage solutions and allows developers to seamlessly integrate solutions and simplify processes on the platform.

Tizen Leverages On-Device AI for World-Class Performance

Samsung’s major OS Tizen is bringing its industry-leading experience to more devices and services, as Samsung has equipped certain AI-enabled home appliances with the AI Home,4 a 7-inch LCD touchscreen display.

Tizen is also getting a boost with Tizen AI services. Powered by the Samsung Neural Processing Unit (NPU) and optimized to suit Samsung products and respond to user needs, Tizen AI services will provide smarter, safer and more personalized experiences, from controlling echo and noise levels while watching TV or making video calls to analyzing users’ writing styles to improve notetaking.

Samsung’s commitment to enhancing experiences with AI is also reflected by stronger interoperability between Tizen and the Galaxy ecosystem. Multi-Control, which enables users to navigate and control both their smartphone and tablet using the same Bluetooth tools including mice and keyboards, will extend to smart monitors and TVs with Tizen.

Samsung has developed Tizen based on RISC-V5 for developers, and a new SDK for Tizen applications designed with RISC-V will be available in 2026.

Tizen also supports the latest version of Flutter, the cross-platform development framework, and will continue providing extension tools for app developers for a greater level of debugging and profiling.

SmartThings Takes New Leap Forward With AI and Expands to Health Experience

Over the past decade, Samsung SmartThings has grown into one of the largest connected platforms with more than 350 million subscribers and over 340 “Works with SmartThings” (WWST) partners.

Samsung is using advanced AI technology to unlock higher-level SmartThings experiences and explore a wider range of partnerships. SmartThings will play a key role as the groundbreaking technology that sets the company’s products and services apart.

One of the major updates coming to SmartThings this month is Home Insight,6 which analyzes user data, usage patterns, device history and home stats collected in real time to offer a better home experience. It also recommends features to optimize the home, such as powering off idle devices while away during a specific time of day or season. Plus, the Galaxy Tab S10 is equipped with the Home Insight Widget, so it can be conveniently used as a home dashboard to monitor and control the house.

Samsung also introduced its plan to have all its products with screens run the SmartThings Hub. This will make Samsung devices better at working together to take care of the home, and even includes connectivity with partner devices. The plan includes adding Edge AI7 technology based on the SmartThings Hub, which embeds AI capabilities in the home’s connected devices, contributing to the vision of a truly AI-enhanced home.

In the spirit of open collaboration and innovation, Samsung shared the details of its latest SmartThings partnerships. This included a new partnership with various smart key developers, including Schlage8 and Aqara,9 which will add the SmartThings Door Lock function to the Digital Home Key inside Samsung Wallet in 2025.

Sustainability was also highlighted, particularly a partnership between SmartThings and Kohler.10 Kohler’s Chief Sustainable Living Officer (U.S.) Laura Kohler joined Jaeyeon Jung, Executive Vice President and Head of SmartThings, onstage to share how the new integration will help users monitor and reduce water usage with smart showerheads and faucets.

Samsung also introduced a closer integration between SmartThings and Samsung Health. Girish Naganathan, CTO of the continuous glucose monitoring system (CGM) company Dexcom,12 joined Samsung onstage to discuss the companies’ shared vision of more personalized, convenient health management at home, for both users and their loved ones.

Security as the Foundation for the AI Era

Finally, Samsung continued to highlight its commitment to robust security and privacy standards. With Samsung Knox, the company is continuing to invest in strengthening its security governance to ensure that the latest AI experiences never require the sacrificing of personal data. The blockchain-based, multi-device security solution Knox Matrix will expand from mobile devices to TVs and home appliances to further enhance security across multi-device experiences.

Samsung also highlighted the expansion of Passkey, which will come to Tizen beginning with 2025 TV models, the refrigerator with AI Family Hub and home appliances with AI Home.
