Samsung Electronics today has revealed the full specifications of the Galaxy S25 Edge, a category-defining slim smartphone joining the Galaxy S series. Crafted with style and strength in mind, Galaxy S25 Edge strikes a new balance of premium, pro-level performance in a resilient titanium body only 5.8mm thick. S25 Edge delivers on the S series legacy, integrating an iconic Galaxy AI-enabled camera and unleashing a new realm of creativity in an effortlessly portable device.

“Galaxy S25 Edge is more than a slim smartphone. The superior engineering that brought this revolutionary smartphone to life illustrates a commitment to overcoming barriers that helps Galaxy deliver truly unexpected premium experiences for people around the world,” said TM Roh, President and Acting Head of the Device eXperience (DX) Division at Samsung Electronics. “S25 Edge not only marks a breakthrough for its category, but it also accelerates important innovation across the mobile industry.”

Exceptionally Sleek and Strong Design

With a thin 5.8mm chassis, Galaxy S25 Edge is a remarkable feat of engineering that reimagines nearly every element of smartphone design for an even more compact and convenient experience. Its refined frame bridges form and function at just 163 grams, taking slim smartphones to the next level while staying true to the Galaxy S series’ unified design.

Alongside its streamlined silhouette comes exceptional resilience. The optimally curved edges and sturdy titanium frame offer enduring protection for everyday use. The latest Corning® Gorilla® Glass Ceramic 2, a new glass ceramic offering that delivers engineered resilience, is used for the front display to yield both vibrancy and strength on Galaxy S25 Edge.

Dynamic Creativity With a Pocketable 200MP Camera

The slim and light design of Galaxy S25 Edge makes it easier than ever for users to capture memorable moments and express their creativity anytime, anywhere. The 200MP wide lens upholds the Galaxy S series’ iconic camera experience while taking Nightography to a new level. Thanks to its ultra-high resolution, users get sharper photos while maintaining clearer shots with large pixel size —capturing images with over 40% improved brightness1 in low-light environments. The 12MP ultra-wide sensor features autofocus, which powers crisp, detailed macro photography for even more creative flexibility.

Galaxy S25 Edge benefits from the same ProVisual Engine that was optimized for Galaxy S25 with pro-grade enhancements, like ensuring sharp details for clothes or plants and natural, true-to-life skin tone in portraits. Galaxy AI-powered editing features, including fan-favorites like Audio Eraser2 and Drawing Assist3 are all brought over from the Galaxy S25 series, pairing advanced creative and editing tools with a never-before-seen slim form factor.

Peak Performance Expertly Configured in Ultra-Slim Housing

Galaxy S25 Edge is built to deliver premium performance, starting with the Snapdragon 8 ® Elite Mobile Platform for Galaxy, the same processor available in all Galaxy S25 series devices globally. Customized by Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., the chipset powers Galaxy S25 Edge’s on-device AI processing capabilities and offers reliably fast performance all day. Galaxy S25 Edge also keeps its cool under sustained use thanks to a reconfigured vapor chamber that is now thinner, yet broader for steady heat dissipation.

Matching the Galaxy S series’ renowned performance standards, Galaxy S25 Edge features advanced, efficient AI image processing with ProScaler,4 which delivers a 40% improvement5 in display image scaling quality, while incorporating Samsung’s customized mobile Digital Natural Image engine (mDNIe).

A Trusted Companion With Galaxy AI

Integrating Galaxy AI at nearly every touchpoint, Galaxy S25 Edge offers our most natural and context-aware mobile AI experiences. Users get personalized, multimodal AI capabilities with peace of mind that their personal data is always safe.

Mirroring the broader Galaxy S25 series, Galaxy S25 Edge integrates AI agents that work seamlessly across multiple apps, helping as a true AI companion to get things done more easily. Galaxy AI also gets better at integrating with daily routines. Now Brief and Now Bar6 include third-party app integrations for greater convenience and helpful reminders during everyday commuting, dining and more.

Thanks to Galaxy’s deep integration with Google, Galaxy S25 Edge brings Gemini’s latest advancements to more users. For example, with Gemini Live’s7 new camera and screen sharing abilities, users can show Gemini Live what they see on their screen or in the world around them while simultaneously interacting with it in a live conversation.

Experiences powered by Galaxy AI on Galaxy S25 Edge aren’t just convenient—they’re designed with privacy at the core. On-device AI processing ensures data is kept secure by Samsung Knox Vault, continuing Samsung’s unwavering commitment to ensure hyper-personalized mobile experiences never sacrifice privacy.

Rooted in craftsmanship and driven by performance, Galaxy S25 Edge delivers pro-level photography, personalized AI experiences and more. It goes beyond a slim form factor to challenge expectations for what a smartphone can be.

Availability

Galaxy S25 Edge will be available in a captivating range of colors, including Titanium Silver, Titanium Jetblack and Titanium Icyblue.

Samsung Electronics today unveiled the Galaxy A55 5G and Galaxy A35 5G, two smartphones that demonstrate Samsung’s ongoing commitment to making the best of mobile innovations available to everyone. Both devices come with extensive security features such as Knox Vault, as well as new photography capabilities inspired by Galaxy’s flagship camera innovations and a stunning display that adjusts to users’ surroundings with Vision Booster.

“With the Galaxy A series, we are expanding our latest technologies to a wider audience so that more people can benefit from them,” said TM Roh, President and Head of Mobile eXperience Business at Samsung Electronics. “We are excited to open up even more possibilities on the Galaxy A series this year, including offering Samsung Knox Vault for the first time on this lineup. We’re proud to enable Galaxy A series users to safely and reliably enjoy outstanding mobile experiences.”

An Entertainment and Creativity Hub With Versatile Photography and Stunning Display

With enhanced Nightography, Galaxy A55 5G takes clearer and more vibrant photos even in poor lighting conditions. That means every nighttime photo can reach epic new levels. Galaxy A55 5G’s advanced AI Image Signal Processing (ISP) produces stunning low-light images never seen before on Galaxy A series. It’s not just scenery that looks amazing. Night Portrait mode and 12-bit HDR video ensure the people in every image look great so that capturing memories with friends and family is never dependent on the perfect lighting.

Both Galaxy A55 5G and Galaxy A35 5G offer the incredible photography capabilities that Samsung Galaxy is renowned for, including features such as optical image stabilization (OIS) and video digital image stabilization (VDIS) that keep photos and videos crisp even when filming on the go.

The new devices also continue the Galaxy A series’ tradition of making fun and immersive mobile experiences accessible to all. Users can enjoy watching the latest shows or browsing social media with Super AMOLED displays, showing astonishing clarity in Full High Definition. They can also count on the 6.6-inch1 screen on both the Galaxy A55 5G and Galaxy A35 5G looking clear and bright in a range of light conditions thanks to Vision Booster.

Democratizing Samsung’s Most Powerful Security Innovations To Intelligently Protect More Customers for Longer

This year, Samsung is bringing one of its most innovative flagship security features, Samsung Knox Vault, to Galaxy A series users for the very first time, including on the new Galaxy A55 5G and Galaxy A35 5G. A hardware-based and tamper-resistant security solution, Samsung Knox Vault offers comprehensive protection against both hardware and software attacks by constructing a secure execution environment that is physically isolated from the system’s main processor and memory. It can help protect the most critical data on a device, including lock screen credentials, such as PIN codes, passwords and patterns. Samsung Knox Vault also protects device encryption keys, encrypting users’ private data stored in the device. Only a user who has the correct lock screen credentials can access their data, even if the device is lost or stolen.

The Galaxy A55 5G and Galaxy A35 5G are also secured by Samsung Knox, Galaxy’s multi-layer security platform. One of the most trusted security platforms in the world, Samsung Knox is designed to safeguard critical information and protect against vulnerabilities with end-to-end secure hardware, real-time threat detection and collaborative protection, taking a holistic approach across the entire Galaxy ecosystem.

For even more ways to stay protected, the Galaxy A series offers Auto Blocker, an opt-in package of additional security measures. When switched on, Auto Blocker can block app installations from unauthorized sources, provide app security checks2 to scan for potential malware and block potentially malicious commands and software installations to your device while connected by USB cable. New Galaxy A series users will also have access to Galaxy’s Security and Privacy Dashboard, making it easier than ever to see and control what is happening to their data and withdraw any permissions whenever they choose. They can also enjoy Private Sharing (part of Quick Share), which enables the secure and encrypted sharing of private files containing important personal or financial information. To ensure confidentiality, users can control the recipient’s access permissions and the file’s expiration date, while also choosing to limit screenshots or downloads.

The new Galaxy A series smartphones demonstrate Samsung’s commitment to ensure Galaxy devices remain secure and up-to-date for longer. With the Galaxy A55 5G and Galaxy A35 5G, users will continue to benefit from up to four generations of Android OS and One UI upgrades and five years of security updates, optimizing the lifecycle of the devices by keeping them equipped with all the latest Galaxy and Android features.

Seamless Connection With the Ever-Expanding Samsung Galaxy Ecosystem

The Galaxy A55 5G and Galaxy A35 5G are fully compatible with the Galaxy ecosystem giving users a smooth and integrated experience across a range of Galaxy devices. Users can keep up with their fitness goals by connecting Galaxy Fit3 or Galaxy Watch6 to their Galaxy A series smartphone. And, thanks to Auto Switch, incoming calls will be automatically switched to connected Galaxy Buds FE for enhanced convenience.

Samsung Electronics today announced that Samsung Knox, the trusted security solution integrated into its 2024 TVs, has achieved Common Criteria (CC) certification ahead of product launch.

The CC certification stands as a global benchmark, acknowledged by 31 countries1 worldwide, for assessing the security integrity of IT products. Samsung has now achieved 10 consecutive years of CC certification for Samsung Knox, a top-tier security solution for its TVs that has continued to improve year over year. This year, Samsung Knox demonstrates its global security excellence with validation before the 2024 TVs are available to consumers on the market.

“As our daily lives become even more connected, Samsung understands the fundamental need that customers have for the privacy and security of their personal information,” said Yongjae Kim, Executive Vice President of Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics. “With this in mind, we’re proud to have achieved 10 consecutive years of CC certification for Samsung Knox on our TVs, based on the continual strengthening of our security measures and standards.”

The CC exists to ensure consistent and rigorous integrity evaluation standards for IT products and continues to improve the efficiency of evaluation and certification. With improved evaluation and consistent standards, the CC aims to bolster confidence in the security of certified IT products. The CC certification comprises of a Protection Profile (PP) and a Security Target (ST). Samsung Knox has successfully met the ST and achieved the standards for the CC.

The CC certification underscores three core security features of Samsung Knox:

Tizen OS Monitoring: Samsung Knox actively detects potential hacking threats in real time, flagging any unauthorized changes in critical sectors of Tizen OS, the core of Samsung TVs.

Phishing Website Blocking: Samsung Knox verifies web pages accessed by users, preemptively blocking any phishing sites to safeguard user data and privacy.

Enhanced Personal Information Protection: Samsung Knox ensures seamless protection of users’ sensitive personal data through a secure connection with Samsung Knox Vault, a dedicated processor for security functions.2

Samsung Electronics today begins the global rollout1 of Maintenance Mode, a new privacy feature coming to select Samsung Galaxy devices, following a successful pilot program in Korea and initial launch in China. Maintenance Mode can relieve user anxiety that comes with giving a personal device to someone for repairs, by letting users block access to their personal information, such as their photos, messages or contacts.

“Our whole lives are on our phones, from credit card information to family photos. With Maintenance Mode, we are giving extra reassurance that Galaxy users can keep their privacy, even if they hand their phone to someone,” said Seungwon Shin, VP and Head of Security Team at Mobile eXperience Business, Samsung Electronics. “This is just the latest example of our constant efforts to introduce new ways to make people feel safe and in control, so they can explore new mobile experiences with peace of mind, knowing we have their back.”

Maintenance Mode is a way of creating a separate user account when you hand in your device to be repaired so they can operate core functions without being able to access to any of your private information. All the user needs to do is select Maintenance Mode in the “Battery and device care” menu within “Settings” and reboot their smartphone. As soon as it’s rebooted, all their personal information including their photos, documents and messages will be restricted.2

Once Maintenance Mode is switched on, the person who was entrusted with the device won’t be able to retrieve user-installed apps either. Data or accounts generated when using Maintenance Mode are automatically deleted as soon as the owner exits Maintenance Mode. They will be able to download apps on Galaxy Store, but those will be automatically deleted along with any data or accounts created as soon as the owner exits Maintenance Mode.

Samsung Galaxy devices are protected by Knox, Samsung’s defence-grade security platform, which offers a multi-layered approach to protection. Through open collaboration with trusted industry partners, any potential threats can be discovered and neutralized more quickly. Integrated hardware and software security safeguards in all areas of the device, from the chips inside to the apps users download. Real-time protection ensures security is constantly enforced, day and night. With this industry-leading security in place, users can be assured of their privacy. Samsung Galaxy devices enable control and transparency, with features such as Security and Privacy Dashboard and Permission Manager, so users can easily determine what happens to their data.

Samsung is constantly evaluating and pushing for new ways to keep users safe. In 2021, Samsung introduced Knox Vault, which isolates the most critical information from the rest of the device. This month, the company revealed Knox Matrix, its vision for the next level of security across multiple devices. By continuously innovating to provide the most secure and private experiences that customers can trust, Samsung is committed to leading the industry in mobile security.

Availability

Maintenance Mode was successfully trialed on the Galaxy S21 series in Korea in July and then launched in China in September 2022. It launches globally today, gradually rolling out over the next few months on select models running One UI 5. The rollout will continue throughout 2023, with availability expanding to more Galaxy devices. Stay tuned for more information on local availability.

For more information, please visit news.samsung.com/galaxy and www.samsungmobilepress.com.

1 Availability may vary by market and model. Maintenance Mode is available on selected Samsung Galaxy devices running One UI 5 or later versions, including Galaxy S21 and S22 series. Timing of availability may vary by market, model and network provider.
2 As a precautionary measure, users are encouraged to back up any personal data before activating Maintenance Mode.

Dangerous Times

It’s hard to imagine a better time for cyber-criminals. The conditions are ideal right now for anyone with ill intentions and technical know-how.

A rise in remote workers means more reliance on unsecure public Wi-Fi. New frontiers like the blockchain leave confused customers ripe for scams. Cyber-attacks are on the rise. And not just where you expect them. Recent wars have started with digital attacks on critical infrastructure, months before physical incursion.

All this when we are putting more of our lives into our smartphones. They are our wallets, our house keys and our IDs. A single intrusion can be devastating, so now more than ever we need our devices to be secure. Let’s examine what truly makes a device safe — so that you can go out into the world and live freely, without worrying about your data getting into the wrong hands.

What Security Is… and What It Isn’t

By now you’re likely thinking you’re fine, because you’re sensible. But there are many common misconceptions about security. You don’t let apps share your name, email, or habits. You even disable app tracking permissions. Great, but that doesn’t mean your data’s safe. Please don’t confuse privacy for security. Closing your curtains will do no good if someone kicks your door down. You think you have chosen a safe mobile ecosystem, one akin to a walled garden. But hackers adapt to their targets. Unsecure Wi-Fi, social engineering scams — these are threats regardless of what ecosystem you use.

You don’t open suspicious attachments. Great, but there are ‘zero-click’ attacks, which compromise a device without user interaction. That happened with Pegasus, spyware that exploited a flaw in a popular messaging system. All it took was for users to receive a message, and the hackers got in. Feeling safer than you are leads to complacency — that’s what cyber-criminals are counting on.

It’s unsettling to think that there are so many threats and no safe harbor. But that’s what inspires our work on Samsung Knox, our industry-leading, defense-grade security platform approved by many governments around the world. We achieved that level of trust through a holistic, multi-layered approach to protection: open collaboration, hardware and software integrated security and real-time protection.

Trust Through Collaboration

If there’s one thing I’ve learned from my work with INTERPOL, it is that we are stronger and safer if we work with each other. Trust is built through open collaboration. That’s one of the great advantages of the Android ecosystem. Anyone can have access to the source code of Android OS, which allows it to be strengthened collectively. It allows some of the biggest names in tech to check and challenge each other — and work together to step up their game.

Samsung prides itself on this open model of partnership and collaboration, on top of our internal work to constantly strengthen our systems. That’s why we have worked closely with Google and have regular security issue meetings to share all threat data with each other. We also work with hundreds of partners to standardize security for Android.

Samsung Galaxy devices themselves also benefit from a wide community of people who understand our ecosystem. We work with academics and white hat hackers through our Mobile Security Rewards Program to identify and patch potential vulnerabilities through our regular security updates, and have awarded over $3.5 million worth of bounties to reward them for their valuable collaboration.

This way, we can better identify flaws or even predict them before they become problematic. More eyes, more heads, better solutions. Opening our ecosystem has not led to more vulnerabilities, but to greater and more diverse security practices.

An Integrated End-to-End Approach

It’s not just about software. We keep our watchful eye on each component from the processor up — we can do that as a leading global company that designs and manufactures its own products. You’re secure from day one thanks to security-specific hardware and isolated software integrated across our portfolio and supply chain. That’s why we can be confident in the integrity of our devices: end-to-end protection at all levels of the mobile experience, from the chips inside to the apps you use.

As the world opens back up, there are new risks to look out for. This is why we recently took things to the next level with Knox Vault, which combines the Secure Processor with a new Secure Memory Chip, to isolate the most critical information (such as PINs, passwords, biometrics, digital certificates and cryptographic keys) from the rest of the device to make sure it never gets into the wrong hands. For example, if a major security risk is detected on the device, Samsung Knox will lock down sensitive services such as Samsung Pay and Samsung Pass to keep your data as it should be: for your eyes only.

Protection at All Times

If you’re anything like me, you rarely turn your phone off. That’s how some people get in trouble: some companies believe it’s enough to run security verification only when the phone boots up. That’s why we defend your mobile experience even after the boot up stage. Attackers never rest, so why should we?

We are committed to offering you real-time protection. After booting, our Real-Time Kernel Protection (RKP) and Defeat Exploit (DEFEX) technologies continuously work to detect and prevent suspicious or unauthorized changes to the permissions you have given. We monitor threats constantly and even have an Incident Response and Management team in place, which uses machine learning to predict future threats.

And while a lot of people buy new phones every year, many like to hold on to their phones for longer periods. That’s why we release regular security updates to patch any vulnerabilities, for up to five years after the launch of your device. In this ever-changing landscape of cyber-security, people who want to use their phones for as long as possible should be as safe as those with the latest models.

The Privacy You Want, The Security You Need

Put it all together and you have a mobile experience secure enough for world leaders. This is a foundation of security built with open collaboration and industry validation, backed up by the toughest hardware and software protections we’ve ever created. This is the security you need.

Only with that comprehensive security in place can anyone truly offer privacy that is as transparent as it is tailored to your priorities. What you do with that privacy is your choice. You’re free to create your own mobile experience exactly as you like it, knowing we’ll always be there to keep you safe.

The world is more connected than ever, and there are more risks. But there are also more opportunities. Our priority is to keep you protected while you explore new experiences. With Samsung Galaxy, you’re free to live your life — with the privacy you want and the security you need.

Platforms Designed for Connected Experiences

A strong platform of technologies across AI, IoT and security enhances the consumer experience and accelerates the ability of developers to build creative applications. Samsung detailed its plans to strengthen core platform technologies such as Bixby, SmartThings and Samsung Knox.

During the SDC21 keynote, Samsung announced improvements to Bixby, which has become a central part of the user experience for more than 300 million Samsung devices. Bixby now uses on-device AI and deep neural networks to process commands on devices themselves. Thanks to on-device AI, this development makes the service up to 35% faster than before.

For developers, Samsung also announced the Bixby Home Platform, which serves as an intelligent layer between Bixby’s natural language processing and SmartThings. With the platform, voice commands can now be executed more intelligently, taking into account the state and context of various devices.

Samsung made further announcements with regard to SmartThings, including how the platform will be fully integrated with Matter, the newest standard in smart home compatibility. Matter solves developer interoperability challenges and with an expansive list of partners, will be the catalyst that makes smart home connectivity nearly effortless. SmartThings Hub software will also be embedded into the Samsung product portfolio, which includes Samsung Smart TVs and Family Hub refrigerators.

Samsung believes that consumer data and personal privacy is just as important as the experiences they enable. Samsung is committed to providing a seamless consumer experience, and to ensuring that its devices and services are secure from beginning to end. Samsung Knox, the company’s defense-grade security platform, offers built-in protection for more than 100 million Samsung devices. To further secure consumer data, the Samsung Knox Vault comes in a combination of security-specific hardware (a new secure processor and isolated secure memory) and new integrated software that shields the most secure data from the Android OS and applications. During the SDC21 keynote, Samsung highlighted the importance of collaboration and its philosophy of open innovation to improve security and privacy, reiterating its work to continue releasing security analysis tools as open source projects.

Samsung also outlined its Privacy Principles at SDC21, highlighting the three commitments that guide all innovation at the company: Protection, Choice and Transparency. With these principles, consumers, developers and partners are given the information needed to make decisions about how data is managed. The company offers users the option to review and manage their permissions from the privacy setting on their Galaxy devices and Smart TVs and discloses Samsung’s privacy policies through the Privacy Portal. Going forward, Samsung will collaborate with global security experts while continuing to release open source security analysis tools to make its ecosystems more secure.

Tizen Takes Smart TV to New Heights

Based on its ‘Screens Everywhere, Screen for All’ vision, Samsung continues to build on its position as the world leader in TVs by developing new experiences that enhance connectivity, functionality and immersive entertainment. At SDC21, Samsung introduced various ways that Samsung TVs are enabling new experiences, including:

Video communication based on partnership with Google to allow users to enjoy better video calling on TVs via AI-enabled focus and zoom features.

Samsung Health on Smart TVs that connects with a webcam to analyze movements and provide real-time feedback during a workout.

More realistic gaming thanks to HDR10+, with automated settings for low latency and HDR calibration.

For enterprises, Samsung will launch Tizen for Business. This service supports interactive e-boards in schools, kiosks in malls, and even displays in restaurants, airports and subways. With new management portals, businesses can conduct real-time monitoring and control screens remotely, easily applying settings to multiple devices with one simple touch.

With the Tizen TV Platform Licensing, manufacturers who want to introduce a premium TV platform like Tizen can do so quickly with minimal cost. This enables them to use the Tizen TV presence to promote their products in the Smart TV market, and ultimately, help more consumers enjoy Tizen.

Innovating Across the Galaxy Ecosystem

Samsung provides a user experience that meets the needs of all users and devices. And with an expanding range of device types and form factors, developers have a breadth of opportunities to innovate in new ways.

At SDC21, Samsung introduced the new One UI 4, the latest version of its user interface for mobile devices. One UI 4 will provide new levels of customization to enable users to create an experience and a device that is truly theirs. It combines Samsung’s leading privacy and security features with options for users to personalize permissions so that they are always in control of their data when using a Samsung device.

Samsung demonstrated the possibilities of One UI 4 to developers at the event, particularly for foldable devices such as the Galaxy Z Fold3 and Z Flip3. Thanks to One UI 4, users will be able to make use of features such as Flex mode and Multi-Active Window, which enable users to enjoy more intuitive and user-friendly experiences that are unique to the foldable form factor. SDC21 also included a Galaxy Watch session that showcased developer tools to help them build new apps in the new watch app ecosystem.
