The modern kitchen is a dynamic hub, and today’s consumers are seeking a space that can meet their every need around-the-clock. From April 8 to 14, at Fuorisalone 2019 in Milan, Italy, Samsung Electronics is bringing together contemporary trends, smart products, new technologies and superlative design to reveal kitchens that welcome a diverse range of experiences.

As we invest increasingly more in our homes, they have become a deeply personal reflection of our selves. In today’s home, there is no place like the kitchen: a space to come together to plan, create and share. Samsung’s built-in appliances form kitchens that match each and every moment of consumers’ lifestyles, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

All Day, Every Day

For this year’s exhibition, Samsung presents visitors with the “24 hr. Kitchen”, an interactive and interpretive installation conceived in collaboration with renowned food artist Laila Gohar and Design Studio 2×4.

The 24hr. Kitchen emphasizes the vital role that the kitchen plays as the heart of the home, adapting to every aspect of our ever-changing, 24-hour lives. Samsung kitchen appliances are designed to meet the needs of millennial lifestyles around the clock and, to illustrate this, the Samsung booth has been divided into three rooms – Morning, Day and Evening – each showcasing one of three built-in appliance lineups. One long counter weaves its way through the booth, connecting each room to the next stage in the day.

Reinterpreting the Classics

The exhibition embraces Gohar’s fanciful approach to food, with each room presenting guests with various interpretations of a single ingredient transformed by Samsung kitchen technologies, providing the ideal backdrops to feature Samsung’s built-in packages. Throughout the booth, Samsung’s latest built-in products are featured, from the Dual Cook Flex oven and Induction cooktop, to the Twin Cooling Plus refrigerator and WaterWall dishwasher.

The Morning room celebrates the heartiness of grains. Upon stepping into the room, guests are greeted with decorative bunches of wheat and an eye-catching arrangement of different kinds of grain. They can enjoy pieces of bread with butter taken from elaborate butter sculptures, a variety of focaccia and volcanic cakes mounded high onto the counter. With clean lines and neutral shades, the Morning room’s Silver Stainless Steel package creates a modern, bright kitchen well suited to the joyous delight of freshly baked bread.

In the Day room, tomatoes take center stage, with tomatoes on the vine hanging from the ceilings and a display of assorted heirloom tomatoes on the table. Guests are encouraged to savor delicacies such as tomato caviar atop a beetroot cracker, sundried tomatoes and tomato paper with tomato gelée. The tomatoes’ sophisticated pops of color give the Smart Kitchen package the warm glow of daytime.

The Evening room is devoted to all things sweet. After feasting their eyes on a soft brown sugar landscape, pools of molasses and sugar block sculptures, guests can treat themselves to sweet confections including rock candy lollipops, honeycomb candy and sugar glass. Black Stainless Steel casts a moody atmosphere over the chic sweetness of the Evening room.

The Samsung 24hr. Kitchen, open from April 8th to April 14th, is located at Brera Site — via delle Erbe, 2, Milan – and is free entry from 10 am to 8 pm.

Samsung Electronics, today announced that it will hold its design exhibit, showcasing its user-centered design philosophy at Milan Design Week’s Fuorisalone 2019. The venue is located in Via Bergognone 26 in the Tortona Design District. As Samsung Design Center’s exhibition, ‘Resonance’ will showcase Samsung’s design philosophy under the new slogan, “Be Bold. Resonate with Soul.”

The company’s Digital Appliances Business is also showcasing “The Samsung 24hr Kitchen,” a unique installation that celebrates the renewed centrality of the kitchen as the heart of the home. The exhibition merges aspirational design and visionary food installations with Samsung’s refined built-in kitchen appliances. The 24hr. Kitchen is located at Brera Site in the Brera Design District.

“Our design philosophy is always inspired by people. With millennials representing a growing demographic and changing the consumer culture in unique ways, Samsung is reinterpreting its user-centered design philosophy in a modern way,” said Don Tae Lee, Executive Vice President and Head of Corporate Design Center at Samsung Electronics. “One way in which millennials show their distinctive lifestyle is how they constantly yearn to discover new things and take on challenges, which calls for bold approach and creative designs. We aim to install our authenticity and emotional resonance into our designs that permeates through people’s daily lives.”

The Design Showcases with “Be Bold. Resonate with Soul.”

Millennials bring new values, lifestyles, and mindsets to daily living. Samsung has long been committed to design excellence and suited for ever-evolving consumer tastes, putting people at the center of its design philosophy. With millennials becoming more influential culturally, Samsung is bringing new design concepts and application to reinterpret its core design philosophy.

Samsung’s ‘Resonance’ exhibition will showcase advanced connectivity and a multi-sensory experience built on the company’s technological leadership. The exhibit at Milan Design Week 2019 will take visitors to a maze-like space filled with iridescent lights where they can directly interact with the exhibition based on daily behaviors, such as breathing, talking, and touching – ultimately becoming a part of the exhibition. This is the resonance between artwork and the audience that Samsung is pursuing by enhancing interaction between people and objects.

Redesigning the Heart of the Home with a 24-Hour Kitchen

Samsung’s Digital Appliances Business is also attending Fuorisalone as an exhibitor for the first time. The exhibition will celebrate the renewed centrality of the kitchen as the heart of the home with the Samsung 24hr. Kitchen concept, an interpretive installation that features Samsung’s advanced built-in kitchen appliances. The exhibition is designed to demonstrate how the kitchen has become a dynamic hub at the center of consumers’ 24/7 daily routines.

Samsung 24hr.

As we rush to complete our daily chores, we rarely stop and take a good look at the appliances built to help us. Samsung Electronics believes there is beauty to be found in these everyday moments. To offer a new perspective on Samsung’s three innovative appliances, the company captured them in action with the Galaxy S9’s Super Slow-mo Camera. Check out the videos below to watch the amazing moments unfold.

Caught in Super Slow-mo, viewers can clearly see the washer’s innovative Q-Drum in action, with the main drum and the back plate rotating independently. This independent motion, powered by double forces, ensures the clothes inside the washing machine move dynamically around the drum—back and forth, as well top to bottom.

Slowing down the robot vacuum cleaner with Super Slow-mo allows viewers to appreciate its powerful suction, which delivers optimal cleaning results with 40x more suction power than the previous model*. In addition, the device’s self-cleaning brush prevents clogging from collected dust and tangled hair, cutting down on regular maintenance and enabling it to run autonomously even longer.

In its debut exhibition at the biennial EuroCucina 2018, Samsung Electronics showcased its full range of premium built-in appliances that bring benefits to consumers through cutting-edge designs and heightened connectivity. The event took place at the Salone del Mobile, Milan, April 17-22, where more than 300,000 visitors were expected to attend.

Last year Samsung’s European home appliances business grew five times faster than the market. As a result of this momentum, Samsung participated in EuroCucina 2018, a showcase for new trends, designs and technologies for European kitchens.

The European built-in market is worth $18.5 billion annually, accounting for 40% of the global built-in market. Samsung’s premium built-in appliances, equipped with and IoT technology, are positioned at the center of the market. The opportunity to experience the kitchen of the future at the Samsung booth attracted the attention of many visitors at the exhibition.

Consumer-Led Innovations

Samsung displayed its full built-in product lineup at EuroCucina. The range included its Twin Cooling Plus technology refrigerator, Virtual Flame cooktop and Waterwall dishwasher. The company also unveiled the new Dual Cook Flex oven at the event.

The Dual Cook Flex zone highlighted how the oven can adapt to the needs of its users. Its innovative Dual Cook technology, for example, allows independent access to the upper oven compartment without compromising on cooking performance in the lower compartment. With research indicating that European oven users are cooking multiple dishes simultaneously three times a week on average, the oven’s Dual Cook system allows users to set different temperatures and time settings for each compartment, giving them greater control over simultaneous cooking.

Dual Cook Flex offers a range of IoT features. Consumers can remotely preheat, monitor and control the oven from anywhere with the SmartThings app. What’s more, the Cooking Guide makes setting recommendations based on ingredients and type of food being prepared.

The booth also demonstrated how Samsung’s industry-first innovations in the home appliance market provide a seamless experience and make a real difference in the kitchen. Samsung’s Twin Cooling Plus technology, which independently controls the refrigerator and freezer, was showcased in a transparent display to best illustrate how the system works. There were also zones exhibiting the Virtual Flame cooktop, an induction stove that mimics the appearance of flames to provide more intuitive visual control over the heat, and the WaterWall dishwasher that delivers remarkable cleaning results with a streaming wall of water.

Seamless Kitchen Connectivity

As people spend more of their time at home in the kitchen, and the space fulfills more roles than ever before, smart technology has become increasingly more important. Yet digitization of the kitchen has been slower than other key spaces of the home.

In addition to exhibiting the IoT capabilities of the Dual Cook Flex oven, Samsung demonstrated the seamless connectivity of key home IoT products at EuroCucina 2018.

On display was the latest generation of Family Hub integrated with SmartThings, Samsung’s IoT platform, which offers seamless connectivity between any IoT device using one app and a single cloud that manages all your devices. The smart refrigerator provides a center point for connecting all devices in the home, and is equipped with features such as Bixby, Meal Planner, Shopping List and Recipes to enhance your smart cooking experience.

Recent strides towards connectivity and innovation have resulted in 90 percent of Samsung products, including smartphones and TVs, being IoT-applicable. Thanks to the company’s collaborative efforts based on the Open Connectivity Foundation, the SmartThings ecosystem is operable and compatible with even more devices and brands.

“We are fully committed to ensuring that all our products are not only IoT ready, but also intelligent by 2020,” said HS Kim, President and CEO of Samsung’s Consumer Electronics Business, at the press conference on April 18th.

Stylish Built-in Design

With premium designs such as Samsung’s black stainless-steel built-in packages, the exhibit modeled the streamlined look of the modern kitchen, which couples elegant design with intelligent technology.

Based on a philosophy of thoughtful design, today’s kitchen embraces simplicity, timelessness and an aesthetic that emphasizes minimalism while maximizing usability. This “Flat Design” favors clean lines, hidden displays and seamless integration. Samsung’s built-in appliances, such as its premium flat design refrigerators, have a precision engineered flat face which sits flush to the counter front.

Samsung Electronics acquired the luxury US built-in brand ‘Dacor’ in 2016 and has worked with various other partners, such as Nolte in Germany, Scavolini and Veneta Cucine in Italy to increase the competitiveness of premium built-in appliances as part of the company’s commitment to ‘bring the kitchen to life’. As well as displaying the ‘Dacor Modernist Collection’, Samsung also collaborated with numerous European luxury brands such as Nolte at this exhibition. Amongst these designs, the Dacor built-in refrigerator, which imbues a sense of luxury with its porcelain inside, has attracted significant attention.

Integrating smart technology with appliances and pursuing further innovations will transform the way we cook and interact in the kitchen, as Samsung aims to provide a more seamless, connected experience throughout the home.

Samsung Electronics today announces its first participation in the biennial EuroCucina 2018 in Milan, as part of its commitment to strengthening its presence in the European market. Samsung’s exhibit aims to elevate the company’s brand image and reputation among consumers in the region with products that make a real difference to consumers’ lives.

“We’re very pleased to be showcasing our latest appliances here at EuroCucina in Milan for the first time,” said BK Kang, Samsung Electronics’ Executive Vice President, Head of Global Sales & Marketing, Digital Appliances Business. “We hope our participation at EuroCucina signals our dedication to providing innovative home appliances that bring kitchens to life and give consumers real benefits they can experience every day.”

Consumer-centric Innovation with New Dual Cook Flex

Samsung is introducing its full built-in product lineup at EuroCucina, and among the range of unparalleled kitchen solutions is the brand new Dual Cook Flex oven. Its EU-industry-first innovation “Flexible Door” gives consumers independent access to the upper oven compartment without losing heat and compromising cooking performance in the lower compartment. The upper and lower compartments can even be used as one bigger compartment for large dishes by removing the divider.

Dual Cook Flex also makes it easier to prepare multiple dishes using the Dual Cook system. Consumers can set two different temperatures and times for each compartment to achieve the best taste possible during simultaneous cooking. The Dual Cook also prevents odor mixing between compartments, ensuring optimal cooking performance. Enabling consumers to use the upper compartment only, the Dual Cook also enhances energy efficiency by cutting down preheating time and overall energy usage.1

Dual Cook Flex offers a range of smart features for optimized cooking. For example, consumers can conveniently start preheating the oven and remotely monitor and control cooking conditions while on the go via the SmartThings app. In addition, the Cooking Guide recommends the best cooking mode, temperature, and cooking time based on the ingredients and type of food being made.

Smarter Living with AI/IoT Solution

In today’s hectic world, people’s needs and expectations of kitchen appliances have changed significantly. Families are perpetually short on time and need to make every moment count by being as efficient, smart, and connected as possible. Consumers who were once focused on how well a kitchen appliance cooked or grilled or broiled now care just as much about their oven or refrigerator being connected to the Internet or showcasing their personal style.

With these things in mind and redefining the way families cook and live, Samsung Electronics recently unveiled its new Samsung Chef Collection of premium built-in’s at the Pacific Coast Builders Conference (PCBC) in San Diego. Wellness expert, chef, and author Candice Kumai helped introduce the new innovation along with Samsung senior vice president John Herrington at a separate special launch ceremony. Famed Napa Valley and Michelin three star chef, Christopher Kostow, a member of ‘Club des Chefs’ which gives inspiration and ideas for Samsung’s premium kitchen appliances, also provided a special cooking demonstration using the new Chef Collection.

“Samsung Chef Collection reflects the aspirations of a new generation of homeowners who not only prefer a beautiful look in their kitchen, but also appreciate having the latest technology in their homes,” said John Herrington. “For some time now, Samsung has been championing the growth, expansion, and disruption of the premium built-in sector, and our new Chef Collection presents both a huge advancement and opportunity for this market.”

The new Samsung Chef Collection, merges beautiful design and industry leading technology, to bring some of the most innovative and popular home appliance features to the traditional built-in appliance category:

Samsung SVP John Herrington presents the vision for the Chef Collection at the launch ceremony

Gourmet Kitchen Capabilities

To equip the gourmet kitchen, Samsung Chef Collection includes the first fully integrated 42” built-in 4-Door Flex refrigerator with a FlexZone compartment that easily transitions from fridge to freezer at the touch of a button. Additionally, the 36” built-in french door refrigerator includes a Metal Cooling stainless steel interior and TwinCooling to keep food fresher, longer. Each refrigerator model also includes a Chef Pantry compartment that can be set to three different temperature options to handle various food preservation needs.

Chef Christopher Kostow demonstrates advanced methods of cooking with the new Chef Collection

The Connected Kitchen

Everyone has gone to the grocery store at some point and forgotten to bring a shopping list. Now people never have to worry about forgetting or buying something they already have. The collection’s two new built-in refrigerators feature Samsung’s View Inside cameras so consumers can see inside their refrigerator from anywhere – including the grocery store.

With the Chef Collection, Samsung has integrated advanced connected technologies to the built-in category. Now, with the simple touch of a smartphone screen, users can remotely preheat, check, and control the temperature of their oven, giving busy families a head start on dinner plans as they rush home from work or school. The WiFi-enabled appliances give consumers peace of mind that their refrigerator door hasn’t been left open or the stove isn’t still simmering while they are out of the house or that the dishwasher cycle has been started after a big night of entertaining.

A Kitchen Personalized in Design

The entire Samsung Chef Collection line comes in a beautiful and striking matte black stainless steel – a design and color palate that seamlessly merges with the clean and sleek décor that is popular in modern kitchens, making it easier for appliances to blend seamlessly with surrounding cabinetry. The design also makes it easy to adapt and update as user kitchens evolve because the panels can be replaced.

Even the appliances’ lighting, intuitive touch displays, and digital-analog controls enhance the overall look and functionality of the kitchen with Frame LED lighting illuminating the refrigerator interior and hidden electronic controls giving a truly seamless look to the exterior. The Pro Range also features blue LED-illuminated knobs – an elegant touch that only Samsung appliances provide.

From new smart technology, to beautiful design, to unmatched performance, Samsung Chef Collection is redefining the modern kitchen creating innovative products for the premium built-in category through deep insight into the desires of consumers.
