Samsung Electronics today announced that it has been named the number one signage manufacturer for the fifteenth consecutive year by market research firm Omdia, once again demonstrating its leadership in the global digital signage market.[1]

According to Omdia, in 2023 Samsung not only led the global signage market with a 33% market share, but also sold over 2 million units — a record-breaking number for the company.[2]

The expansion of The Wall lineup is a clear indication of Samsung’s innovations and leading technology. With their 2021 MICRO LED line, Samsung is bringing users breathtaking visual experiences on an ultra-large TV for the very first time. In order to celebrate the next-generation display technology of MICRO LED, globally renowned media art and design studio Refik Anadol Studio has custom-designed a series of dynamic data sculptures, entitled Artificial Landscapes.

Mirroring the way Samsung seeks to bring transformation to its users’ daily lives through innovative technologies, the data sculptures that comprise the collaboration explore the connection between reality, simulation and systemic reflection.

Blurring the Lines

Anadol’s body of work addresses the challenges and possibilities imposed on mankind by ubiquitous computing, and what it means to be a human in the age of machine intelligence. Artificial Landscapes consists of three unique chapters, each offering a visual representation of how memories of nature can be simulated and represented through cutting-edge machine learning algorithms such as those included in Samsung’s innovative new MICRO LED TV line.

With CES just days away, Samsung unveiled its new 75-inch Micro LED display and a host of innovations in display technology, on January 6 at the Aria Hotel in Las Vegas.

In his opening remarks, JH Han, President of Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics, outlined Samsung’s vision for the future of visual displays, placing “the screen at the center of your everyday life.”

Alongside Samsung’s 75-inch Micro LED display, the event also showcased a 219-inch The Wall. These next-generation modular Micro LED displays harness self-emitting technology to create elegant, efficient and powerful screens that are liberated from the limitations of existing technologies.

Han also reflected on the new possibilities that Micro LED technology represents for consumers’ everyday lives, as Samsung remains committed to “no boundaries and endless possibilities, with freedom in size, ratio, resolution and bezel.”

“Our vision for Samsung Electronics is focused on making the screen the center of the AI era,” said Han, describing the future role of displays throughout our lives. The screen will be a customizable hub that can be placed anywhere in the home, enabling all devices to be connected and controlled intelligently with ease.

Unveiling the 75-inch Micro LED at the First Look event, Han introduced a new era of Micro LED technology: “This advancement in technology will soon enable all screens, from small devices to ultra-large devices, to be replaced by Micro LED.”

Speaking at the event, Andrew Sivori, Vice President at Samsung Electronics America, described the endless possibilities offered by the modular design of Micro LED technology: “Micro LED is the next frontier of displays.”

The modular technology behind the 75-inch Micro LED display won a CES 2019 Best of Innovation award for its revolutionary design, which frees the screen from the limitations of conventional displays.

By adding or removing modules, consumers can easily configure their display to any size. They can even rearrange modules to create different shapes.

Micro LED technology is able to optimize content regardless of its aspect ratio. From standard 16:9 content, to 21:9 widescreen films, to unconventional aspect ratios like 32:9, or even 1:1.

Airplay 2 will be available on Samsung Smart TVs this Spring, allowing users to effortlessly stream videos, music, audio and photos from iOS devices.

Samsung Reveals New Micro LED Sizes, Shapes and Configurations that Push the Limits of Traditional TV Displays at First Look Event

Samsung Electronics today introduced its latest innovations in modular Micro LED display technology during its annual First Look CES event at the Aria Resort & Casino in Las Vegas. The revolutionary new Micro LED technology designs featured at the event included: a new 75” display, a 219” The Wall as well as other various groundbreaking sizes, shapes and configurations for a next-generation modular Micro LED display – a 2019 CES Best of Innovation Award winner.

Micro LED featuring 75” Micro LED and 219” The Wall

Featuring leading-edge self-emissive technology and modular capabilities, Samsung’s Micro LED displays deliver unparalleled picture quality, versatility and design. These transformative TV displays are made up of individual modules of self-emissive Micro LEDs, featuring millions of inorganic red, green and blue microscopic LED chips that emit their own light to produce brilliant colors on screen – delivering unmatched picture quality that surpasses any display technology currently available on the market.

At last year’s CES, Samsung introduced Micro LED by unveiling The Wall, the critically acclaimed, award-winning 146” Micro LED display. Due to the technical advancements in the ultra-fine pitch semiconductor packaging process that narrow the gap between the microscopic LED chips, Samsung has been able to create a stunning 4K Micro LED display in a smaller, more home-friendly 75” form factor.
