Built on Openness and Trust

Samsung does not do this alone. The platforms that changed the world were the most open. The web was. So were mobile operating systems. With SmartThings, we brought devices, services and partners into one connected experience, shaping industry open standards. Openness lets the best ideas reach people faster. And we don’t simply layer intelligence on top, but design how AI works at the center so it serves each person in context.

But openness alone is not the goal. The harder task is turning intelligence into something personal and trustworthy. The best intelligence in the world should reach people through their everyday devices. But what makes it personal is understanding the user and keeping that understanding safe. During the panel, Hon Pak, Head of the Digital Health Team for the Mobile eXperience (MX) Business at Samsung Electronics, joined four other speakers: David Lee, Head of Samsung Next; Mike McSherry, CEO of Xealth; Alina Su, CEO of Generation Lab; and Michael Dubrovsky, CEO of SiPhox Health. Together, they presented a blueprint for the future of healthcare to an audience of approximately 1,000 global attendees.

Serving as the moderator, David Lee emphasized the critical role of partnership. “The future of health cannot be built by one company alone,” Lee said. “It must be forged through an open ecosystem of collaboration among diverse innovators.”

Building an Open Health Ecosystem

Samsung possesses a diverse portfolio of devices and platforms, spanning from semiconductors to mobile phones, wearables, home appliances and TVs. The company leverages its economies of scale to cultivate a robust, collaborative ecosystem with numerous partners across each of its business sectors.

By integrating Samsung devices with partner solutions within this open ecosystem, Xealth, Generation Lab and SiPhox Health are accelerating the realization of connected care. This healthcare vision aims to help users lead healthier, more vibrant lives through proactive wellness management powered by Samsung’s connected device ecosystem.

Hon Pak highlighted the scale of Samsung’s reach during the discussion. “Samsung Health supports more than 77 million monthly active users,[1] and the SmartThings platform connects 460 million users,”[2] Pak said.

Samsung holds a strong advantage as a trusted brand within the household, the central setting for daily life and wellness. “By connecting our device ecosystem around the home via SmartThings, we can innovate the health experience where it matters most, at a time when health is shifting to the home — a space in which prevention can happen at scale,” Pak added.

To support this transition, Samsung has integrated a wide variety of devices — including home appliances, TVs and compatible third-party devices — into its SmartThings platform. This enables a broad spectrum of services that range from personalized automation routines to family and pet care.

Accelerating Innovation Through Partnerships

The panelists identified Samsung’s established ecosystem and open approach to collaboration as key strengths.

Alina Su of Generation Lab emphasized the value of this partnership. “What has been most exciting is Samsung’s genuine openness and distribution. There’s real scale and technical capability — but there’s also a willingness to collaborate, to co-create, and to move quickly with partners,” Su said. “When you combine that with the devices people already use every day, you can bring innovation to people’s lives far faster than you could independently.”

Michael Dubrovsky of SiPhox Health also explained the benefits of the collaboration. “Samsung brings the device ecosystem already living in people’s homes and on their bodies,” Dubrovsky said. “SiPhox adds the diagnostic layer that has always been missing from that picture. Together, continuous device data and continuous biomarker data create a truly complete health picture that has never existed outside a clinical setting.”

Currently, Generation Lab provides a solution to help users easily check biological age and actively manage aging at home, while SiPhox Health offers a service that enables active health management through hospital-grade blood tests in each household.

Mike McSherry of Xealth shared a vision for providing a seamless, continuous healthcare solution by bridging the gap between clinical care in hospitals and daily wellness management through deep integration with Samsung.

Empowering Open Collaborations and Ensuring Robust Security

In addition to strategic partner collaborations, Samsung has built an open ecosystem for the wider developer and researcher community. Utilizing the Samsung Health Software Development Kit (SDK) Suite, they can easily create innovative wellness services leveraging advanced sensor technology and the health platform. This allows Samsung Health users to experience useful new features more quickly.

Protecting these experiences is Samsung Knox, a proprietary defense-grade security solution integrated across various consumer touchpoints, such as mobile devices, home appliances and TVs. With Knox, users can confidently manage their sensitive information within the Samsung ecosystem.

Looking at the next five years of healthcare in the context of the AI era, Pak concluded, “A daily companion that knows who I am, as well as what I need and when, will help me achieve my health goals seamlessly through lifestyle behaviors and connected innovative partner services.”

Samsung Electronics today announced a key software update for Galaxy XR, adding enterprise-ready capabilities through Android Enterprise and improving everyday user experiences with several usability upgrades. With this latest firmware release, Android XR will now receive regular software updates, including security patches, for up to five years[1]— underscoring Samsung and its partners commitment to long-term performance, security and innovation on the XR platform launched in October 2025.

Advancing XR With Android Enterprise Support

Starting from Galaxy XR, Android XR now supports Android Enterprise, extending the trusted management framework used across millions of Android devices into immersive environments. This update brings enterprise-grade control and efficiency to Galaxy XR, creating a scalable foundation for real-world deployments across industries including training, manufacturing, healthcare and retail. With Samsung Knox on Android Enterprise, it also guarantees strict device security. Features include:

• Support for fully managed and dedicated device use cases, giving organizations greater control of Galaxy XR devices in corporate owned deployments.
• Device enrollment methods including Android zero-touch, QR code setup and Device Policy Controller (DPC) identifier provisioning, simplifying large-scale rollouts from day one.
• Enterprise app management using Managed Google Play and support for direct installation, making it easy to deploy and update XR applications.
• Core device management features including setting password policies, network configurations, device restrictions and remote lock or wipe, which help devices remain protected in any environment.
• Hardware-level protections to meet relevant compliance and security standards on safeguarding sensitive enterprise data.

New Enhancements for Everyday Users

Alongside new enterprise capabilities, the latest Android XR update brings thoughtful improvements to everyday experiences — enhancing comfort, preserving workflow continuity, expanding accessibility and unlocking more immersive ways to view content. Features include:

• Enhanced virtual keyboard positioning to let users save alternate keyboard positions at their chosen vertical position and depth for a more personalized experience.
• Desktop session restore which automatically reopens up to three previously used apps in their original layout after rebooting, helping users seamlessly jump back into work or entertainment.
• Expanded accessibility features like single eye tracking[2]and pointer customization, making Galaxy XR more inclusive and adaptable for a wider range of users with varying sight or mobility needs.
• Wall panel alignment,[3]an on-screen guide that makes it easier to accurately line up content within a user’s space, smoothly integrating the screen into physical surroundings.
• Auto Spatialization,[4]now available in Google Chrome and YouTube, effortlessly converts 2D content into immersive 3D photos and videos.

Not everyone needs the same level of privacy. This new layer gives you the choice to decide what works best for you. You can customise it to raise your guard with specific apps, or when entering access details for more private areas of your phone. With multiple settings for adjusting visibility, you can limit what others can see based on the level of privacy protection you need.

Customisable, app-level privacy settings help ensure only the user can see on-screen private information.

You can also choose to protect specific parts of your experience, such as notification pop-ups. It’s a tailored approach that you can fine-tune or switch off entirely, rather than a blanket one.

It took over five years of engineering, testing and refining to get here. We studied how people use their phones, what they consider private, and how security should feel in everyday life. The result is a fusion of hardware and software expertly calibrated to protect you without getting in your way.

The cybersecurity threats of today affect everyone, from consumers to businesses. Enterprise device fleets must be resilient against attacks of all kinds — from suspicious URLs, insider employee threats and malware, to emerging risks associated with AI usage in the workplace, including prompt injection and sensitive data leaks. Enterprise security incidents can arise across operations. With mobile devices now being the most common method of employee network access, this has to change. A systematic, comprehensive approach is critical to ensuring seamless mobile capabilities and uncompromising protection. At Samsung, we’re setting a new standard for mobile enterprise security by committing to a collaborative Zero Trust strategy for endpoints in partnership with market leaders.

Core Principles for Zero Trust Endpoint Security

As the Head of the Global Mobile B2B Team, I’m especially proud of how we’ve led the way in critical areas that deliver value to enterprises across the board. From advancing hardware-backed device attestation and threat detection to fully embracing the security principles of Zero Trust, we are constantly striving to provide our customers with mobile devices and solutions that exceed their security requirements.

Zero Trust is a security framework that replaces implicit trust with explicit trust by continuously assessing security posture, risk and trust levels based on context. The current security solutions market is dominated by network-centric Zero Trust solutions that focus on securing access at the network edge. Unfortunately, this approach by itself neglects a critical blind spot: the endpoint. Endpoints have the largest attack surface and are the most challenging IT assets to protect against cyberattacks. In most cases, they are the most vulnerable points in an organization’s IT ecosystem.

Zero Trust principles for endpoints, when realized correctly, ensure that access requests from endpoints are handled based on context that correlates with the device’s security posture and the user’s needs, and are continuously verified in real time. Although there is no definitive list of core principles behind Zero Trust endpoint protection, the following principles are the most commonly adopted:

• “Never trust, always verify” approach for devices: Devices should no longer be implicitly trusted just because they are within the network boundary. Instead, each device needs to prove its trustworthiness before being granted access.
• Continuous risk assessment and enforcement: Endpoint protection must be agile and ready to adapt to constantly changing risk conditions. This means continuously evaluating context — such as location, time of access and the device’s security posture — and dynamically adjusting security policies accordingly. Suspicious activity needs to be addressed through enforcement actions such as access restrictions or complete isolation.
• Restricted privileges and narrowly scoped access: Endpoints must enforce access control in real time based on context while ensuring privileges are granted dynamically with a narrow scope.
• Incorporation of user identity, device posture and behavioral signals: A Zero Trust-compliant solution needs to make granular and informed trust decisions to enforce tight access controls. To enable such decisions, Zero Trust’s continuous evaluation of context integrates user identity, device posture and behavioral signals.

While the Zero Trust security strategy is growing in adoption, Samsung is fully embracing it. By doing so, we are helping to protect the most vulnerable points in an organization’s IT landscape. Risks related to endpoint security are constantly increasing as cloud-based applications, Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) programs and remote work prevail in the modern workplace environment. Samsung recognizes the critical nature of this problem and is proactively addressing it in collaboration with partners.

How does this work in practice? From the hardware level and all the way to the operating system and secure interface, Zero Trust security principles are built into the architecture of Samsung Galaxy devices, enhancing protection at every layer while intuitively integrating with a business’s existing security infrastructure. In my time at Samsung, we’ve made extensive strides in bringing forth versatile, optimized and secure solutions[2] for enterprises of all kinds.

In 2024, we integrated Samsung Knox — our defense-grade, multilayer security management platform — with Cisco Secure Access, an innovative Security Service Edge solution. This collaboration delivers a secure and flexible employee access experience, enabling organizations to verify user identity, device posture and context before granting access.

We also have a strong partnership with Microsoft, defined by a shared vision of reimagining mobile device security for business customers. The first step of this strategic plan began in 2023, when we integrated Samsung Knox with Microsoft Intune, creating the industry’s first on-device mobile hardware-backed device attestation solution that works equally well on both company and personal devices. This solution is now enabled by default in all new Android App Protection Policies, empowering organizations to bolster the security posture of all Samsung devices in their fleet. In yet another step forward in our partnership with Microsoft, Samsung has become the industry’s first mobile manufacturer to offer a direct-to-security operations center (SOC) connector. The real-world impact of a home cybersecurity breach can extend far beyond your front door. Poorly protected devices like at-home appliances and screens can face malware risks, with attacks that potentially disrupt their features, give hackers access to device cameras, enable theft of data, and more.

For the modern consumer, the challenge of managing the security settings of their various home appliances has intensified, especially as they embrace more smart devices. This creates the need for a holistic, built-in solution that works seamlessly in the background, offering robust protection without requiring constant user intervention. Without the right safeguards in place, consumers could find themselves vulnerable to privacy breaches – just imagine a robot vacuum’s camera recording footage of house interiors without authorization and revealing when a home is empty, or a compromised appliance revealing sensitive personal information like passwords and biometric data.

Security by Design, Our Layered Approach

At Samsung, our goal is to deliver trusted and personalized experiences through reliable security solutions that protect your different devices and appliances. Samsung Knox is our answer to this challenge; a comprehensive, multi-layered security platform that acts as an invisible shield for the entire ecosystem of Samsung devices, with Knox Vault[5] and Knox Matrix[6] being key innovations within that platform.

Think of Knox Vault as a physical, safe built directly into the hardware of our devices. This is where the most sensitive data like cryptographic keys and digital certificates is stored, completely isolated from the main system. Across our screen-equipped home appliances, we’ve also integrated the Passkey[7] feature – a digital credential that allows users to log in to home appliance apps and websites[8] using biometrics such as fingerprints.

Connectivity within the Samsung ecosystem likewise helps to safeguard against threats when they go undetected. Samsung’s Knox Matrix creates a trusted, self-protecting network that turns a smart home into a “smart shield,” where more connected devices mean stronger overall security. The Trust Chain in particular — which is a part of Knox Matrix — is managed on a private blockchain, enabling devices to intelligently monitor each other for threats and isolates any compromised element to protect the rest of the ecosystem.

Other features like Knox Matrix Credential Sync secures user information through end-to-end encryption as it moves between devices, while a Cross Platform SDK ensures consistent security standards across different operating systems like Android, Tizen, and Windows. This allows users to safely and conveniently enjoy a hyper-connected experience, knowing their devices are working together to stay secure.

The vision of a secure, hyper-connected home is already being realized in the region. In Malaysia, for instance, Samsung has partnered with property developer Gamuda Land to set up a Samsung Bespoke AI home show unit at The Camellia[9], showcasing how a comprehensive, AI-integrated ecosystem of appliances can work together seamlessly on the SmartThings platform, while protected with Samsung Knox so that homeowners can enjoy the convenience of intelligent living with peace of mind.

[4] Secure Folder offers users a separate and protected area of their phone or tablet to store sensitive apps and data. It allows users to set up separate profiles which can duplicate your apps. Users can customize the Secure Folder app and set up their own lock type, including PIN, pattern, password and fingerprint. For enhanced security, Secure Folder users are also provided with an option to hide and encrypt the Secure Folder, which helps keep data safe from advanced cybersecurity threats. While hidden, the apps will stop working to keep your data safe. Once the Secure Folder is opened again, the encryption will be deactivated, and the apps will resume normal operation.

Samsung recently started rolling out One UI 7 with security updates to existing features, including additional theft protection and anti-robbery features. These will now also be available to even more devices, having started with the launch of the Galaxy S25 series in February, and now expanding across more Galaxy smartphones throughout the year.

Samsung is introducing new security updates to better protect users in the event of phone theft. One major update is Theft Protection – a multi-layered suite of features developed to safeguard personal data, even in high-risk situations such as robbery.

Theft Protection builds on standard Android safeguards, which are effective in typical theft scenarios where the thief doesn’t know the PIN. With One UI 7, Samsung goes further by introducing additional protections that address more advanced or high-risk threat scenarios, including cases where access credentials may have been exposed.

Galaxy users can now enable a range of new security measures, including Identity Check, designed to offer stronger protection in complex theft scenarios. These features respond automatically and intelligently to suspicious activity, helping ensure that personal data remains secure and under the user’s control in these critical moments.

Existing and updated features in Theft Protection include:

• Theft Detection Lock: This uses machine learning to detect motions associated with theft such as snatching, and instantly locks the screen to stop unauthorized access.
• Offline Device Lock: The screen gets automatically locked if the device is disconnected from the network for an extended period, ensuring protection even when the device is offline.
• Remote Lock: If the device has already been stolen, users can lock it remotely using their phone number and a quick verification step. Remote Lock also allows users to regain control of their account and explore additional recovery options.

New Anti-Robbery features released on One UI 7 include:

• Identity Check: In unfamiliar locations, the ‘Safe Places’ feature requires biometric authentication for any changes to sensitive security settings, adding an additional layer of protection when a PIN may have been compromised.
  • Security Delay: A key component of Identity Check, it triggers a one-hour waiting period if someone attempts to reset biometric data. This crucial buffer gives users time to lock the stolen phone from a connected device, such as a PC or tablet, before unauthorized access can occur.

These updated theft features are now becoming available on previous flagship devices, starting with the Galaxy S24 series, Z Fold6, Z Flip6, Z Fold5, Z Flip 5, S23 and S22 series,  with future updates planned for even more Galaxy smartphones.

How to remotely lock your Samsung Galaxy device:

• Sign into Samsung Find using your Samsung account
• Select your phone on the left-hand side of the page, then choose Lost Mode in the device details section
• Create a PIN to unlock your phone if recovered, and enter it twice to confirm
• You will have the option to add an emergency contact and a custom message that will display on the locked screen (It’s recommended to skip this step to avoid sharing personal contact details)
