Samsung Electronics held the 2026 edition of The Brief event in Hanoi, Vietnam on 14 October, showcasing its extensive digital appliance portfolio of business solutions and home appliances.

The Brief Hanoi was attended by more than 50 journalists and influencers from Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam, who gathered for an in-depth look at Samsung’s latest appliances from different product categories including laundry, refrigerators, and air conditioners.

The event was held at the newly opened Samsung Business Experience Studio (BES) in Hanoi, a space designed to simulate real-world scenarios across various industries, offering customers and visitors the opportunity to experience how Samsung’s wide range of products can be deployed in fields like education, hospitality, and other commercial environments.

Advancing the Future of Smart Cooling Solutions

Samsung showcases its latest HVAC solutions and technologies designed to support smarter, more efficient and reliable experiences in various environments.

Samsung has expanded its HVAC (Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning) portfolio across residential and commercial environments — enabling users to leverage AI-driven features and SmartThings connectivity. With the acquisition of European HVAC specialist FläktGroup – which has over a century of accumulated technological expertise and design capabilities – Samsung is also further expanding into industrial applications like data centres, broadening its line-up of diverse HVAC solutions for more customers.

Central to the line-up is WindFree^TM technology, which has been refined over the past decade and now anchors the latest Bespoke AI WindFree Pro Air Conditioner^[1]. This model features a streamlined form that allows the air conditioner to fit naturally into the surrounding space and comes equipped with AI-powered technologies for personalised comfort. AI Motion Wind adapts airflow based on user preferences and movements while WindFree Wearable Good Sleep can connect to a compatible wearable device^[2] and utilise body signals to automatically adjust the cooling performance based on the user’s sleep state.

Attendees at the event were also given a first look of the 2027 new room air conditioner. The upcoming model comes with a new design featuring a rounded shape and split design on the lower blade, with a fabric-like texture. In addition to its new visual appearance, this model also expands access to AI and smart features such as AI Energy Mode^[3].

Laundry Solutions for Evolving Business Needs

Samsung’s new laundry solutions are designed to support specific B2B needs with large capacities, durability and flexible installation.

As Samsung expands its presence in B2B business, the company broadens its product portfolio to meet diverse B2B needs, including laundry solutions, built for best-in-class performance, reliability and ease of operations.

The 18kg washer offers powerful and fast performance even for large loads and items such as king-sized bedding. Washing cycles are efficient, with a normal cycle taking 36 minutes to complete^[4], while Bubble Wash technology ensures effective removal of stains or detergent on clothes. Meanwhile, equipped with a vent system, the 14kg dryer supports speed drying – with heavy duty loads being completed within 45 minutes^[5].

With durability a top priority for laundry equipment, the washer is fitted with Vibration Reduction Technology Plus (VRT+) to reduce vibrations^[6] which can accelerate wear and tear of internal parts. Both appliances are also easy to operate and maintain. The Manager Mode on the washer enables convenient adjustment of settings such as rinse and water levels, and with Wi-fi connectivity, operators can also remotely monitor the status and performance of the machine.

Intelligent features in Samsung refrigerators for example, can help users manage their food inventory, offer personalised recommendations, and simplify everyday decision-making with AI-powered experiences.

With the recent update, refrigerators like the Bespoke AI Refrigerator Family Hub can make planning and preparation of meals much easier. Combining with cloud intelligence, enhanced AI Vision can now recognise more food items than before with greater accuracy^[7], while the SmartThings Food can recommend recipes based on the ingredients a user currently has. Additionally, the new FoodNote widget introduced this year offers tailored suggestions for a shopping list, by analysing consumption patterns to identify frequently consumed items.

Beyond the Purchase: Appliances That Evolve with Users

Samsung’s connected home is a unified and personal experience across home appliances and services — one designed to keep improving long after purchase.

To ensure users can continue to enjoy enhanced experiences over time, eligible appliances come with up to seven years of software updates^[8]. The latest update in September included upgrades to AI Vision and Now Brief for select refrigerator models globally, with the new capabilities showcased during The Brief Hanoi. Additionally, enhanced Bixby^[9] experiences for natural voice interactions now also provide users with more intuitive controls for their appliances.

With Samsung’s Home Appliances Remote Management (HRM) service^[10], users can provide consent to access real-time remote solutions for product issues. When problems are detected, users can be guided to identify and diagnose the cause, and are provided with step-by-step instructions on how to proceed. If an on-site visit is necessary, HRM can also allow technicians to review diagnostic data in advance, supporting a more efficient experience.

Samsung Electronics Singapore and New York-based Reality Defender have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on the development and deployment of an on-device deepfake detection solution for enterprises in Singapore. The proposed solution will help organisations identify AI-generated voice, video, and images on Samsung Galaxy devices.

“As AI-generated threats become more sophisticated, business leaders are looking for ways to identify risks earlier while protecting sensitive information. Through our partnership with Reality Defender, we aim to develop practical on-device deepfake detection solutions that can flag potential threats before data needs to be processed in the cloud. This approach can help organisations reduce exposure to digital risks while supporting their security and privacy priorities,” said Timothy Tan, Director and Head of Integrated Business, Samsung.

Reality Defender is an enterprise deepfake detection company. Its ensemble of AI models detects AI-generated voice, video and images in real time, from audio impersonation on live calls to deepfakes in KYC and onboarding.

“Our mission is to protect high-trust systems from AI-generated threats by verifying what is real in real time. For many organisations, the first place a deepfake lands is an employee’s phone. Our partnership with Samsung aims to bring Reality Defender’s detection directly onto Samsung Galaxy devices, working alongside Knox so teams can spot AI-generated impersonation before they act on it. And our detection is stateless by design: nothing enrolled, nothing stored,” said Ben Colman, Co-Founder and CEO, Reality Defender.

The urgency to combat deepfakes

Deepfakes have rapidly evolved into a serious digital threat, and pose risks that could have far-reaching impact on the nation. AI-generated voice, video and images can be used  to impersonate trusted individuals, mislead users, and undermine confidence in digital interactions.

A 2024 survey by Regula found that 56% of businesses in Singapore have faced incidents of audio deepfake fraud, while 52% of companies have reported experiences with video deepfakes. Separately,  scam victims in Singapore lost at least S$242.9 million in Government Officials Impersonation Scams in 2025, accounting for 26.6% of scam losses by amount.

Samsung and Reality Defender will collaborate to develop and deploy an on-device deepfake detection solution for Galaxy devices^[1]. By analysing content directly from the user’s secured Galaxy device, the proposed solution is intended to help organisations identify manipulated content while reducing the need to send sensitive data to the cloud for analysis.

Samsung’s security architecture is designed to protect data from the chipset level through to individual apps. On supported Samsung Galaxy devices, Knox Vault provides an isolated environment for sensitive data, separate from the main operating system. Knox Enhanced Encrypted Protection (KEEP) can also create encrypted storage environments for individual apps, helping ensure that each app can access only its own protected information.

Samsung Electronics announced the latest update to SmartThings, its global connected living platform now serving 470 million registered users and supporting more than 430 Works with SmartThings (WWST)-certified brands worldwide. The update is available now and introduces SmartThings Now at the top of the Home tab, refreshes the app’s Home tab experience, and expands local control capabilities — helping users access relevant information, take action more easily, and manage connected devices with greater reliability.

A Redesigned Home Tab Experience, Led by SmartThings Now

SmartThings Now appears as cards at the top of the Home tab, building on Home Insight to offer greater personalisation by combining relevant information with actions users can take right away. It suggests relevant information and actionable controls based on the user’s current situation, delivering a more intuitive and convenient experience.

If a Family Care member, such as an older parent, shows no device activity for an extended period, SmartThings Now surfaces a care card for the caregiver with options to check in or call. When the user arrives near a home location pre-registered in the SmartThings app, SmartThings Now suggests turning on the lights and air purifiers in advance. Once the user acts, it prompts them to create a routine so the same actions can run automatically in future. This is all part of an experience designed to naturally guide users to the next relevant step based on their choices and context, making it easier to discover and use the features they need.

SmartThings Now also supports personalised optimisation based on usage patterns. It analyses the past week’s activity to suggest updates to Home tab Favourites, including devices, services, and routines. For example, it may recommend removing an air conditioner card if usage drops as the cooler months approach. Users can also manage their routines through the Routine Insight card in SmartThings Now^[1] by navigating to a detailed view of their routine activity over the past week to review and delete routines they no longer need.

The updated Home tab reorganises key information into a more streamlined view, covering dashboards, device cards, and service cards, with each type displayed in a format optimised for easier browsing.^[2]

Service cards use a more space-efficient design to clearly display more services on a single screen and present information such as device status and numerical readings. Additionally, Live Wallpaper changes naturally throughout the day, adding a more dynamic visual touch to the experience.

The update also introduces a Floating Bar that places frequently used features at the bottom of the screen, bringing them within easy reach for one-handed use on larger smartphones and reflecting the latest One UI design direction.

Enhanced Local Control Helps Keep Devices Responsive 

SmartThings is now introducing local control technology that helps users continue to operate connected devices more reliably when there are changes to the home network environment or disruptions to external internet service.

When a mobile device and a SmartThings Hub are connected to the same Wi-Fi network, the mobile device can communicate directly with the hub rather than routing controls through the cloud. Compared to cloud-based control, local control can improve response times by approximately 30%^[3]. This helps enable continued control of connected devices during temporary network fluctuations.^[4]

SmartThings automatically switches between local and cloud-based remote control based on whether the user’s mobile device is at home or away. The updated Offline Device Diagnostics page helps users restore devices that have gone offline by updating network information for all registered devices at once.

Samsung has also added support for Matter 1.6, the latest smart home connectivity standard from the Connectivity Standards Alliance (CSA), enhancing stability and Group Control performance. The update adds support for four new device categories:

• Energy Meters for real-time power monitoring
• Closures for specialised door and gate types
• Irrigation devices such as sprinkler systems
• Soil Sensors for measuring ground conditions.

Samsung Electronics announced on 6 October 2026 the addition of an exclusive collection of 30 artworks from the British Museum to Samsung Art Store.^[1] Available on compatible Samsung Art TVs, the curated selection features works by John Constable, Joseph Mallord William Turner, and other renowned artists.

Samsung Electronics Singapore today announced that it has entered a collaboration with Fraser Residence River Promenade in Singapore to pilot AI-enabled hospitality experiences.

For example, when making plans over text, users can pull up reservation details or save a shared location without leaving the conversation.
• Creative Studio now suggests image-generation ideas based on relevant upcoming events. For example, when a friend’s birthday is approaching, users may see a prompt to create a themed image or greeting, allowing them to quickly create something meaningful for the occasion.
• Interpreter^[6] introduces a new Thread View that enables users to better follow translated conversations by quickly referencing earlier exchanges. In addition, faster translation in Conversation Mode and quicker playback with compatible Galaxy Buds help reduce delays, making conversations feel more natural and continuous.
• Document Scan now allows users to digitise challenging materials such as curved book pages and corner-folded papers with less manual adjustment. The large-screen-optimised views on compatible Galaxy devices, along with an improved Finger Eraser, help create cleaner and more usable scans.
• Voice Recorder presents summaries in a clearer, more structured format, using elements such as headings and tables to make key information easier to scan at a glance.

Enhanced Security and Privacy Help Users Stay Informed and in Control

One UI 9 continues Samsung’s approach to security and privacy with transparency, choice, and control built into the experience. The latest updates help users better understand when something may need their attention and make it easier to take action.

• Security Brief brings key security and privacy updates like alerts for malware, apps from unknown sources, and unnecessary permissions to Now Brief, helping users identify potential issues earlier and determine when action is necessary.
• Privacy Alerts^[7] use on-device AI to identify potential privacy risks, including unnecessary attempts to access permissions in the background, giving users greater awareness of how their information is being accessed.
• Scam Detection^[8] expands to additional countries^[9] and languages, bringing protection against potential scam calls to more Galaxy users across supported markets.

Samsung Electronics Singapore welcomed more than 610 participants today to its first-ever Galaxy Walkathon held at The Kallang, bringing the community together for a morning dedicated to championing active living and wellbeing through the help of technology.

Held in support of the Singapore Heart Foundation’s (SHF) heart health movement and in celebration of SG61, the Galaxy Walkathon saw participants completing a 5km scenic walk around The Kallang precinct. Samsung will also be making a donation to support SHF’s ongoing heart health programmes and initiatives in support of healthier lifestyles. Registrations for the event exceeded initial participant targets, underscoring strong public interest in health and wellness activities.

The Galaxy Walkathon is the first activation under Samsung and The Kallang Group’s multi-year partnership, and is part of the  National Stadium Experience, bringing families and the community together through fun activities and memorable shared experiences. To mark this momentous community effort and champion heart health awareness, The Kallang Group will also light up the National Stadium in red on the evening of 13 September.

Beyond the walk itself, participants also had the opportunity to explore a range of wellness-focused experiences at the Walkers’ Village, designed to inspire healthier habits into their daily routines. These included hands-on experiences with the latest Galaxy products powered by Samsung Health. The morning also featured a guided community cool-down session, alongside partner booths and activities as part of the National Stadium Experience. From sports tryouts to the AL!VE Artisan Market, participants were encouraged to stay active, connect with the community and discover new ways to support their wellbeing.
