Samsung Vision AI Enabling Smarter, More Personal Screen Experiences

Samsung Vision AI represents the next step in Samsung’s journey to deliver intelligent, intuitive, and seamless screen experiences, and will be integrated across the 2025 range of Neo QLED, QLED, OLED, and The Frame models.

At the core of Samsung Vision AI are intelligent and personalised features which redefine how users interact with their screen and engage more deeply with their favourite content. Generative Wallpaper[2] transforms screens into dynamic, personalised art canvases, allowing users to make images that perfectly match their taste or occasion. Own a Galaxy Watch? Universal Gestures[3] lets you control your TV through your smartwatch – with simple hand motions like rotating the watch bezel to scroll the screen or making a fist to return to a previous menu.

Looking beyond personalisation, Samsung’s 2025 AI TVs come equipped with a built-in SmartThings Hub, transforming the TV into a central hub for smarter living through integration with the SmartThings ecosystem, as well as new SmartThings[4] features that simplify and enhance daily life.

SmartThings Energy offers insights into energy consumption patterns, promoting efficient energy use throughout the home.

Family Care[5] enhances comfort by automatically adjusting room settings, like dimming the lights when a child falls asleep, while providing real-time updates and recorded events through TVs.

With Pet Care[6], potentially use your TV as a pet-sitting assistant when you are outside. Your TV can detect noises like barking through its microphone, and then automatically turn on your pet’s favourite content.

Home Insights4 provides notifications from your connected smart devices right on screen, including a 3D Map View that shows information and details of your entire smart home so that you can monitor and manage directly from the TV.

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. announced that approximately 80 models in its 2025 TV, monitor and soundbar lineups have received Product Carbon Reduction[1] and Product Carbon Footprint[2] certifications from TÜV Rheinland, a globally recognised certification organisation based in Germany. This marks the fifth consecutive year that the premium lineups, Neo QLED 8K and Neo QLED, have received such certifications, reinforcing the company’s continued efforts in carbon reduction.

“Samsung Electronics is committed to driving technological innovation for a sustainable future”, said Taeyong Son, Executive Vice President of Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics. “As the world’s leading TV manufacturer, we will continue to be at the forefront of establishing a more energy-efficient ecosystem that benefits consumers.”

Following last year’s certification of 60 models across the Neo QLED, OLED and Lifestyle TV categories, Samsung has further increased its number of certified products in 2025 to include QLED TVs. In addition, the company is also working towards obtaining certification for its Color E-Paper lineup later this year.

The certifications from TÜV Rheinland are awarded following a rigorous evaluation of a product’s entire lifecycle — including manufacturing, transportation, usage and disposal — based on internationally recognised sustainability standards. These certifications highlight Samsung’s efforts to reduce environmental impact across its product lineup.

In particular, the Product Carbon Reduction certification is granted to products that have already received Product Carbon Footprint certification and further demonstrate a measurable reduction in carbon emissions compared to their predecessors.

Samsung’s leadership in energy-efficient display technology dates back to 2021, when the Neo QLED became the first 4K and higher-resolution TV to earn the Reducing CO2 certification. Since then, Samsung Electronics has continually expanded its portfolio of environmentally certified products, including QLED, Crystal UHD, Lifestyle TVs, OLED TVs and a wide range of monitors and digital signage products.

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. today announced the integration of Eclipsa Audio — a groundbreaking 3D audio technology developed in partnership with Google —

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. today announced the integration of Eclipsa Audio — a groundbreaking 3D audio technology developed in partnership with Google — into its 2025 TV and soundbar lineup. By empowering creators to craft dynamic, immersive audio content and enabling seamless playback on Samsung TVs, Eclipsa Audio brings captivating audio and visual experiences closer to consumers than ever before.

“We are proud to lead the industry with the integration of Eclipsa Audio into our 2025 TV and soundbar lineup,” said Taeyong Son, Executive Vice President and Head of the R&D Team, Visual Display Business, Samsung Electronics. “This innovation opens new possibilities for immersive audio experiences and reinforces our commitment to shaping the future of home entertainment.”

Innovating the Home Entertainment Experience

Samsung, the global leader in the TV market for 18 consecutive years, is redefining home entertainment with the integration of Eclipsa Audio. With the largest market share over 75 inches worldwide, Samsung TVs are poised to make this groundbreaking technology accessible to more consumers than ever before.

Eclipsa Audio allows creators to adjust audio data such as the location and intensity of sounds, along with spatial reflections, to create an immersive three-dimensional sound experience.

As the first in the industry to adopt Eclipsa Audio, Samsung is integrating the technology across its 2025 TV lineup — from the Crystal UHD series to the premium flagship Neo QLED 8K models — to ensure that consumers who want to experience this advanced technology can choose from a wide range of options.

Expanding Content and Playback

Starting in 2025, creators will be able to upload videos with Eclipsa Audio tracks to YouTube. Viewers with 2025 Samsung devices will be able to watch YouTube videos with premium spatial audio when available.

To ensure consistent audio quality, Samsung and Google are working with the Telecommunications Technology Association (TTA) to create a certification program for devices using Eclipsa Audio, ensuring that consumers experience the highest standards of sound fidelity.

“We believe that Eclipsa Audio has the potential to change the way we experience sound,” said Jim Bankoski, Vice President of Engineering, Google Chrome. “We are excited to see how the creator community uses it to create new and innovative audio experiences.”

Earlier this year, Samsung unveiled its full 2024 audio video line-up with a series of Unbox and Discover experiences across SEAO. This year’s lineup delivers premium audio and visual experiences supported by AI innovation, including the newest Neo QLED 8K featuring Samsung’s latest and most innovative TV processor yet in the NQ8 AI Gen3.

More recently, Samsung hosted members of the press from across the region at the 2024 Southeast Asia Tech Seminar in Bangkok, Thailand, delivering detailed information and exclusive hands-on experiences through in-depth dialogue sessions and demonstrations, outlining the latest devices as well as their on-device and Cloud AI features.

We had the opportunity to sit down with Yohan Zondak, Head of Visual Display for Samsung Southeast Asia & Oceania, on the latest TV industry trends and how Samsung’s 2024 display line-up is inspiring new ways of living in SEAO.

Q: How are the latest technology trends such as AI elevating everyday experiences like home entertainment?

A: For Samsung, AI isn’t new. We have been investing in AI for more than a decade. Through these investments, Samsung is uniquely positioned to lead the way in everyday AI, from the applications in our devices, to our AI-enabling chips powering our 2024 lineup of audio and video devices launched recently.

We are at a time where AI is delivering tangible benefits to the end user while also driving smarter and better experiences that will redefine how we live, work, and play. In fact, consumers in SEAO today are more discerning than ever before when it comes to making purchase decisions for TVs at home – with almost 7 in 10 SEAO users expecting their new TV to not just enable them to enjoy extensive high-quality content (72%), but also support all of the latest technology and features (71%), as well as provide the most cinematic and immersive experiences (69%) possible.

According to the Samsung 2023 TV Awareness Survey[1]

Every user is unique, and each uses technology in different ways, whether at home or outside. Samsung has built intelligent features into our visual display products from the hardware-up, providing a wide range of devices with improved quality, accessibility, and security.

From advanced technology in our MICRO LED displays to our Neo QLED 8K enabled by the new NQ8 AI Gen3 Processor, with AI, everyone can enjoy their favorite content in a more accessible and intuitive way. By doing so, Samsung hopes to set new benchmarks for new home entertainment experiences empowered by AI.

In addition, Samsung TVs are the go-to option for all who are ready to upscale their entertainment, delivering endless viewing content with Samsung TV Plus[2] so users can enjoy access to free television channels and an ever-growing video-on-demand library.

Q: Unlocking the power of AI right from your Samsung Smart TV; what practical benefits should users expect from this new technology?

A: Our new AI TVs are designed with one goal in mind, and that is to enhance the everyday viewing experience for our users. Take for example the NQ8 AI Gen3 processor; this is our fastest and most innovative processor ever yet, with an on-device AI engine (NPU) two times faster than our previous Gen2 model with eight times more neural networks[3]. Simply put, this capability means our TVs like the Neo QLED 8K can now improve user viewing experience with the display of sharper and clearer images, as well as through features such as AI Motion Enhancer Pro[4].

In addition, despite the advent of high-quality streaming, what does that mean for users who want to revisit old favorites that might come in lower resolution formats? Features like 8K AI Upscaling helps to upscale low-resolution content, further optimising the user experience for large screen sizes. This means that you can still enjoy SD and HD content, upscaled to 8K quality, for maximum enjoyment.

Q: How are Samsung TVs elevating gaming experiences in 2024?

A: Ask any gamer out there, how much they like spending time adjusting settings for optimum performance. For TVs, it can be cumbersome to have to manually switch between different TV modes into the right one optimised for gaming. This is why we have features like AI Auto Game mode on our latest OLED TVs, which can automatically set the appropriate picture and sound settings depending on the game, using AI to intelligently identify the game genre.

For example, if you like playing football games, the TV automatically switches to Sports mode to help the grass color appear more natural. If you play first person shooter games a lot, AI Auto Game mode changes the TV mode to FPS mode, offering better visibility in-game with darker scenes. At the end of the day, users can spend more time gaming, and less on figuring out how to get things to work.

Q: How does a human-centered philosophy shape users’ experience of AI?

A: At Samsung, we believe that AI should go beyond the device to make a tangible and more personalised impact across all areas of your life.

One example is that our TVs automatically detect subtitles and convert them into spoken audio allowing more of us to enjoy the TV-watching experience. Samsung’s Audio Subtitles help make the TV experience more inclusive for those with low vision and vision impairment, who might rely on audio and dialogue to follow along but may meet challenges with foreign films and programs with subtitles that can be difficult to read.

In addition, we’ve also been hard at work with a wide variety of partners, including energy and materials suppliers – to ensure that sustainability principles are applied beyond just the design of the products that we bring to market. To that effect, SmartThings AI Energy Mode[5] enables users towards sustainable daily living, by automatically reducing power consumption and having less impact on the environment without negatively impacting the viewing experience. You can continue enjoying the TV experience as intended, while unlocking both energy and cost-savings at the same time.

Of course, at the core of our SmartThings and TV experience is security and privacy. Users can rest assured that their devices and data are protected with Samsung Knox, a trusted security solution integrated into our TVs. Additionally, Samsung Knox has most recently achieved the Common Criteria certification for the 10th year in a row, acknowledged by 31 countries worldwide for assessing the security integrity of IT products. Knox Vault, a dedicated security chip which uses advanced encryption technology to monitor and secure data transfer between all connected devices – are one of the many innovative solutions we provide for better peace of mind.

Briefings will provide media and industry professionals exclusive access to Samsung’s AI-enhanced lineup of Neo QLED 8K, OLED and lifestyle products

Samsung Electronics, the world’s leading TV manufacturer for 18 consecutive years, has commenced this year’s 2024 Southeast Asia Tech Seminar in Bangkok, Thailand. From April 23 to 24, Samsung will showcase its cutting-edge 2024 lineup, featuring AI-powered technologies that offer enhanced picture, sound and customization.

Since 2012, Samsung’s global Tech Seminar sessions have served as a platform for sharing detailed information and exclusive product experiences. As part of its ‘Screens Everywhere, Screens for All’ vision, Samsung plans to present innovations that deliver industry-leading viewing experiences and user-friendly features.

The 2024 Southeast Asia Tech Seminar in Bangkok follows a successful series kickoff in Frankfurt, Germany this February. At this event and upcoming seminars in regions such as Latin America, Samsung will present new TV and monitor technologies, as well as lifestyle products:

Samsung’s 2024 Neo QLED 8K includes the latest NQ8 AI Gen3 Processor, which enables a vivid and more precise picture through its 512 neural networks—eight times as many as its predecessor. It supports features like 8K AI Upscaling Pro and AI Motion Enhancer Pro for the best Neo QLED 8K visuals to date.

The world of videography and filmmaking is constantly evolving, with new technologies pushing the boundaries of what’s possible. The latest of these technologies is 8K resolution video which offers a new level of detail and clarity that was previously unimaginable. With 8K, filmmakers and videographers can capture images — both above and below sea level — in incredible precision and realism, giving TV viewers a truly immersive viewing experience.

Meet Pawel Achtel, a world-renowned professional in underwater cinematography with a career spanning over 35 years and more than 5,000 dives ranging from the equator to Antarctica. The filmmaker’s extensive diving experience informs his cinematographic work — which has captured the attention of industry leaders such as National Geographic, BBC and Discovery — providing a unique perspective on life underwater and highlighting his expertise in designing and producing advanced cinematography equipment. He was also involved in capturing 8K resolution underwater sequences for “Avatar: The Way of Water.”

Samsung Newsroom sat down with Pawel Achtel to dive into the details of underwater cinematography and explore how Samsung’s Neo QLED 8K lineup is reshaping the landscape for filmmakers and viewers at home.

How 8K Technology Transforms Underwater Filmmaking

In fields like underwater cinematography, where visuals matter most, Samsung’s Neo QLED 8K is indispensable. Not only does it help viewers feel immersed in the scene, but it is also vital for filmmakers to assess underwater footage.

▲ Underwater cinematographers face a plethora of challenges including ocean currents and light refraction that make optical environments drastically different from on-the-ground filming. But Achtel focuses on the “breathtaking results” that come once the obstacles are overcome (video source: link)

Due to variables like ocean currents and light refraction, filming underwater in true 8K quality can be difficult. “But, when all the circumstances line up, the results are breathtaking,” shared Achtel.

While advanced technologies like submersible lenses assist in capturing these shots, Neo QLED 8K — known for its high resolution and clarity — allows filmmakers like Achtel to closely examine even the smallest details of underwater scenes. This close look helps improve sharpness and other aspects of image quality after filming, overcoming the challenges of underwater optics.

▲ Samsung’s Neo QLED 8K helps cinematographers closely examine details and improve picture quality

“The underwater world is elusive — and filmmakers have a rare opportunity to allow people to see it in great detail, in a way people may not see elsewhere,” said Achtel. “It makes these shots interesting and captivating as they reveal an environment completely foreign to us in stunning detail.”

Samsung made waves at CES 2024 by introducing the latest Neo QLED 8K with the new NQ8 AI Gen3 processor, delivering a cinematic experience at home. Impressed by its features, the filmmaker called the TV “a transformative advancement.”

He specifically praised features like 8K AI Upscaling Pro and AI Motion Enhancer Pro,[1] available on select Neo QLED 8K models, highlighting Samsung’s commitment to outstanding visuals. “Having witnessed the advanced features at CES 2024, I can confidently say they enhance realism and immersion,” added Achtel.

However, for this underwater cinematographer, the true power of 8K lies in the seamless integration of production and viewing technologies — charting a new course in content creation and consumption.

Diving Deep Into 8K Home Cinema

As the development and adoption of 8K filming equipment continues to grow, it’s also driving the creation of content that fully embraces the potential of 8K resolution. The unparalleled realism and captivating qualities of 8K make it an essential tool for storytelling, especially for content that demands a powerful visual impact.

Take underwater footage, for example, which is often played at a slower pace — giving audiences the time to absorb unfamiliar environments and take in details that might otherwise go unnoticed.

▲ Various factors including currents and light refraction present challenges for capturing clear, beautiful shots underwater

On the Neo QLED 8K, viewers can appreciate the “impressive color accuracy” and “nuanced portrayal of detailed scenes” of the ocean’s depths. From the calming blue water to the vivid and bright hues of fish and coral reefs, Achtel attributes the appeal of his 8K underwater imagery to the variety of striking colors and patterns. With Neo QLED 8K, the benefits now extend beyond just the content itself.

“On the viewing side, Neo QLED 8K plays a pivotal role in bringing the 8K ecosystem to life,” he explained. “It not only showcases content with remarkable clarity but also upscales lower-resolution footage to nearly 8K quality, ensuring an immersive viewing experience of the highest caliber.”

Given its advanced picture quality powered by increased neural networks and cutting-edge AI upscaling features, Neo QLED 8K elevates the viewing experience — even with content not initially captured in 8K. Combining advanced image quality with larger screen sizes also opens new possibilities for home viewing to offer an experience that rivals that of traditional big-screen setups.

In the ever-evolving landscape of visual storytelling, enhancing a TV’s ability to process non-8K content offers significant benefits and inspires filmmakers to strive for higher quality content.

“At the end of the day, having a device with an enhanced visual experience and immersive capabilities empowers cinematographers to craft and evaluate captivating content that resonates deeply with viewers,” said Achtel.

▲ AI Motion Enhancer Pro helps make 8K viewing experiences even smoother, not only for underwater scenes but also footages with fast-paced action like artists dancing on stage or sporting events

The role of 8K technology in underwater cinematography and home entertainment underscores its transformative potential to enhance visual storytelling and enrich the viewing experience for audiences around the world.

Samsung Electronics unveiled its 2023 lineup of Neo QLED 8K, Samsung OLED, Lifestyle TVs and sound devices at its Unbox & Discover 2023 Singapore launch held at the Digital Light Canvas at Marina Bay Sands. The event will also be opened to the public on 7 and 8 April, where visitors can partake in exciting activities, including docent-led tours and gaming challenges to experience the WOW with the new lineup.

Under the tagline of “More Wow than Ever”, this year’s lineup showcases the latest innovations in premium audio and visual performances, gaming experiences, smart connectivity and sustainability initiatives for homes of all sizes. Samsung will also introduce more larger-sized TVs (75-inch and up) this year.

In a recent consumer survey conducted at the Samsung TV Tech Fair[1]:

57% of respondents staying in a HDB flat and 51% staying in a condominium felt that a 75-inch TV was too big for their living rooms.

However, following a demonstration of optimal TV viewing distance[2], 84% of respondents living in HDBs and 90% of those living in condominiums are convinced that a 75-inch TV would fit in their living room.

“We understand that technology should empower and enhance people’s lives, not complicate them. For homeowners in Singapore, the TV continues to be a staple for entertainment in their living space – be it for streaming or gaming. Our recent study conducted at the Samsung TV Tech Fair showed that respondents clearly underestimated the size of their living rooms. As such, Samsung is introducing a larger size option for our OLED TV line, as well as continuing larger sized screens for our premium Neo QLED and QLED lineup,” said Steven Koh, Senior Director, Consumer Electronics Business (TV/AV), Samsung Electronics Singapore.

“Beyond making large screen sizes and premium picture quality more accessible than ever, openness and connectivity are also key for our 2023 range. Consumers can expect a holistic device experience tailored to what they need and want out of their connected home with our SmartThings capabilities,” Koh added.

Gone are the days of sitting nose-to-television in order to see every detail and every moment of the action. Now, larger TV screens are not popular for just avid cinephiles, but they are a popular choice and more accessible for more consumers than ever before.

As the size of the average screen at home has evolved, so has the technology within them. This provides users with greater detail, color, and motion so content looks even more brilliant in this larger format.

Beyond its unrivaled performance as a television for consumers’ favorite movies, shows and games, this screen has been praised by many industry experts and users as well. IMAX recently commended the massive 98” Neo QLED 4K for its performance in their critical reference environment producing a highly accurate precise image.

“After calibrating and reviewing this new model TV, I can tell you that we were excited to see how closely the image quality matches our reference mastering monitor that we use in post-production finishing work,” said Bruce Markoe, the SVP and Head of Post Production at IMAX Corporation. “We see value in using very large, high-quality displays in mastering content for IMAX Enhanced masters. Having a large sized screen with proper image quality creates the best way to apply and utilize our DMR technology during the mastering process.”

A reference monitor is a specialized display device used for color grading during post-production. Reference monitors must produce a highly accurate image so teams can create the most precise, high-quality output possible.

In order to provide an outstanding cinematic experience, IMAX films are produced with cameras up to 16K resolution, which means the mastering monitor used must be extremely accurate in order to accurately display the creators’ intent.
