With the finale reaching TVs this Sunday (11th February), Samsung charts the rising popularity of this US sporting event on British screens.

LONDON, UK – Thursday, February 8, 2024 – Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd: The American football season finale reaches our screens this Sunday and Brits are more excited than ever. More than 13 million fans[1], are expected to tune in from the UK – that’s one in five people across the nation.

As excitement builds both sides of the pond, Samsung UK reports an average sales spike of 54% for big screen TVs over the last three years – playing testament to Brits upping their viewing setup so it’s on par with the match itself.

After all, this is no ordinary sporting event. Whether it’s the show-stopping music, the nail-biting action or re-creating the ultimate game atmosphere at home, UK sports and entertainment fans are set on upgrading their sitting room set-up to watch the fun unfold.

Further to this, month-on-month Google search data shows an uptick in interest in purchasing large-screen TVs, ahead of the iconic sporting event:

  • +100% spike in searches for “best 75-inch TV UK” in the past 30 days.
  • +50% spike in searches for “60-inch TV” in the past 30 days.
  • Searches for “soundbars for TVs” are up by 450% in the past 30 days.

The attention to American football is even giving traditional English sports like rugby a run for its money, with this Sunday’s season finale predicted to see over a fifth (22%)[2] more UK social mentions than the current international men’s rugby union competition.

Samsung has also partnered with Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, this year’s host of the final. The partnership ensures fans and players have an unrivalled experience on the ground in the stadium thanks to Samsung display technology in the form of a 27,600-square-foot outdoor LED screen.

Zeena Hill, Marketing Director of TV/AV at Samsung Electronics UK&I, said: “This is a huge year for sports. The 54% uplift in our large screen TV sales before the US football season finale underlines its ever growing importance as a moment in the UK sporting calendar. When people can’t be at the game in person, our insights show they want to experience the highs and lows of sport on larger screens. As proud partners of the Allegiant Stadium we’re excited that we can enhance the in-stadium experience at the big game whilst simultaneously bringing it to millions of UK households through our superior TV range, for the ultimate big night in.”

With Sunday set to be the most-watched game in the league’s history, immerse yourself in it with jaw-dropping detail on Samsung TVs, and bring the atmosphere to your living room with cinematic audio from Samsung soundbars.
