Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., a Worldwide Mobile and Computing Equipment Partner of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), announced the official

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., a Worldwide Mobile and Computing Equipment Partner of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), announced the official selection of 10 global Solve for Tomorrow Ambassador teams as part of its ongoing corporate citizenship initiatives.

The announcement was made in Milan, where the ambassador program announcement was held in conjunction with the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026. The three-day program ran from Feb. 8–10 and including an appointment ceremony, a solution exhibition and networking activities.

Solve for Tomorrow is Samsung’s global problem-solving platform that supports young people in developing innovative STEM-based solutions to address local and global challenges. This year’s global ambassadors were selected from winning teams of Solve for Tomorrow regional competitions around the world, with the final selection being made through a joint evaluation by Samsung and the International Olympic Committee (IOC) based on the innovation, scalability and social impact of each solution. The 10 selected teams are divided into two focus areas — Sport & Tech, and Accessibility & Environment — with five teams chosen in each category.

As part of the Ambassador program, each selected team will receive funding, along with up to two years of continued support from Samsung to help transform their prototypes into commercially viable products. Five teams in the Sport & Tech category will be jointly supported by Samsung and the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

Raye Woon who represented Team CuraStep from the UK as a Samsung Solve For Tomorrow Ambassador in Sport & Tech said “It is incredibly rewarding to see our idea represented on a global stage and how far we’ve come in our mission to help diabetic patients worldwide. The Solve for Tomorrow community is extraordinary, and I’m delighted to be a part of it. As an ambassador, I look forward to championing the next generation of tech-for-good leaders!”

Sustainable Innovation in Sport & Tech

Held under the theme “Sport & Tech,” the aim of Samsung’s 2026 Ambassador program is to empower youth to drive sustainable innovation through the intersection of sports, technology and leadership. The official appointment ceremony took place at Samsung House in Milan and was attended by approximately 80 global stakeholders, including IOC President Kirsty Coventry; Jae Youl Kim, IOC Executive Board Member and President of Samsung Global Research; Olympism 365 Commission Chair Auvita Rapilla; Olympism 365 Commission Member Nawal El Moutawakel; and Won-Jin Lee, President and Head of Global Marketing at Samsung Electronics.

Commitment moment in the appointment ceremony underscored the shared commitment of Samsung and the IOC to jointly nurturing future talent and empowering young people to help shape a better world. This commitment was brought to life through a stage performance in which the composite logos of both organizations were brought together by unfolding and overlapping the Galaxy Z TriFold, completing the visual composition. The act of opening the TriFold symbolically represented the expansion of ideas and potential, as well as the shared belief of Samsung and the IOC in opening new possibilities as young people step forward to lead the future.

“The projects are truly inspiring: full of creativity, imagination, and passion to make a real difference. You’re using technology to shape a future that is more inclusive, more sustainable, healthier and more active,” said IOC President Coventry. “I am especially excited to see the first-ever Sport & Tech winners — combining sport, technology, and problem-solving in ways that can truly change lives.”

“Through Solve for Tomorrow and our collaboration with the IOC, we are creating environments where young people can discover their strengths, express their ideas, and contribute meaningfully to society,” said Global Marketing Head Lee. “We are not only supporting innovation but also nurturing future leaders who will carry forward the values of excellence, respect, friendship — and creativity.”

Solution Exhibition and Innovation Workshop

On Feb. 9, the ambassador teams showcased the solutions they developed at Smart City Lab in Milan and attended an innovation-themed workshop led by the IOC’s Olympism365 Innovation Hub that will equip the ambassadors with the skills to be an innovator of sustainable development in the world of sports. The exhibition was attended by representatives from the IOC, the Milano Cortina 2026 Organizing Committee and various Italian government agencies.

Former Solve for Tomorrow UK winner and member of the first cohort of Solve Ambassadors, Ramneek Kaur Ahluwalia, exhibited her project, MyVision – a tech-forward mobility aid designed to empower people with visual impairments. Ramneek, who has a visual impairment herself said “Partnering with Samsung to bring MyVision to life has been an amazing experience. I am thrilled to showcase my first physical prototype, demonstrating how this technology can truly transform the lives of the visually impaired community globally.”

On Feb. 10, the ambassadors took part in a series of on-site programs and official activities, as well as a visit to the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Village. Through these experiences, Samsung is supporting the ambassadors in deepening their understanding of sports, technology and the meaning of the Olympic Games and the Olympic spirit.

Samsung Electronics Co. (UK) Ltd and online safety partner Internet Matters, welcomed students and their parents from Frank Barnes School for Deaf children, to join a free online safety workshop at Samsung KX. The workshop’s core focus this year was on AI, educating the students and their families on how to use AI safely and responsibly, and showcasing how AI can help them in their daily lives.

To mark Safer Internet Day on 10th February, a global awareness day which Samsung has supported since 2017, families from Frank Barnes School joined Samsung and Internet Matters for an immersive learning experience where they got to see tech and AI in action, whilst learning how to take a human-centred approach to using AI.

Jessie Soohyun Park, Head of Corporate Responsibility at Samsung UK, said: “It was great to welcome families from Frank Barnes School to Samsung KX. This year’s Safer Internet Day theme – smart tech, safe choices – feels particularly relevant as AI increasingly becomes a part of how children learn, create and explore the digital world. We’re committed to continuing our collaborative work to help parents, guardians and educators have informed, practical conversations with young people about navigating AI safely and responsibly.”

Dani Sive, Headteacher at Frank Barnes School, commented on the workshop day: “The children, staff and families had such a fantastic morning at Samsung KX engaging in an informative presentation on AI and online safety, and a tour where they learnt more about AI, Samsung’s smart technology and devices. Thank you to the Samsung KX and Internet Matters team for having us and for organising such an engaging, educational and fun workshop for the children and their families, which clearly had a positive impact on their understanding of AI including the benefits and risks of using it safely. We look forward to further collaboration in the future.”

Rachel Huggins, CEO at Internet Matters also stated: “It was a pleasure to support Samsung’s AI workshop with students from Frank Barnes School and their parents this Safer Internet Day. AI brings many opportunities and benefits, however as children and young people increase their use of AI for schoolwork, advice and companionship, supporting the safe use of AI tools is vital. Internet Matters, with the support of our partners like Samsung, offers parents and carers a wide range of resources, across AI and other topics, to support them to help keep their children safe online.”

LONDON, U.K. – 5 November, 2025 – 51 is the average age Brits actively stop learning, according to new research from Samsung, to mark the launch of its sixth annual Solve for Tomorrow tech-for-good competition.

A tenth of Gen X (aged between 45 and 60) say they haven’t learnt anything new in the past year, in stark contrast to the 58% of Gen Z who learn something different every week.

Still, over a million Gen X wish to go back to school, showing they are not finished with their education just yet. 47% say this is because they want to learn about upcoming technologies such as AI, and 31% feel they have an idea they would love to bring to life.

Samsung Solve for Tomorrow is a free, curriculum-linked programme that empowers 11–18-year-olds to design new solutions to help solve real-world problems using technology. With over a million adults aged 45–60 keen to return to the classroom, Samsung sent actor and presenter Larry Lamb back to school to explore how creativity and innovation can unlock new ways of thinking across generations.

In a new film, Larry’s perceptions of what young people get up to in school are flipped on their head. Lamb joined a group of students from Wembley High Technology College to brainstorm his own tech-for-good idea and discover how students use technology as a tool to make positive societal impact.

Speaking about his experience, Lamb said: “I’ll be honest, it caught me off guard how inspiring some of these young people are. I didn’t have access to competitions like Samsung Solve for Tomorrow when I was younger, and as I’m older, I find myself wishing initiatives like this were available to me. I started the day with a pretty clear idea of what I thought young people did in school, but that completely changed when I saw the incredible impact they’re capable of making, not just for the world today, but for our future too.

“Opportunities like this give young people more space to apply practical skills and make a change in the world. Whether it’s you, your kids, grandkids, or anyone else you know under 18, I’d urge you get them involved to help invent the future.”

This year’s competition focuses on three exciting themes: Smarter sport (tech that makes sport more fun, inclusive and high performing), Greener future (tech that protects our planet and supports sustainable living), and Safer online (tech that helps us stay connected, confident and in control). With tech prizes, work experience opportunities, and the chance to showcase student ideas on the iconic Piccadilly Circus big-screen, Samsung Solve for Tomorrow is a national competition designed to spark innovation in every classroom.

Samsung Electronics UK Co., Ltd., has revealed that Amy Garside and Charlotte Anders-James from Byrchall High School in Wigan, have won the 11-13 age category the annual Samsung Solve for Tomorrow tech for good idea competition – which invited 11-15 year olds to come up with tech powered solutions to help solve everyday problems.

Hundreds of secondary schools across the UK and Ireland signed up to receive free online resources to help inspire the next generation of innovators. Students learned the basics of design thinking, received insight into creative STEM careers, and were encouraged to enter their tech for good ideas into the challenge.

From over 1,100 ideas entered this year, Amy and Charlotte from Byrchall High School were awarded first place in the 11-13 age category with their innovative idea called ‘Meal Master’, an AI-powered food container that tracks nutritional information, caters for dietary needs and also offers recipes and helpful reminders such as nudges to stay hydrated.

Mr. Phillip Paul, Head teacher at Byrchall High School, said: “We are incredibly proud of our students’ success with Samsung, a fantastic national achievement that rightly celebrates their creativity, determination and teamwork, and shows how our young people bring our values of ambition, innovation and community to life.”

To present their award, Labour MP for Makerfield, Josh Simons, made a special visit to the school this week to congratulate the students in an all-school assembly and award them with their tech prizes.

Josh said of this award: “It was fantastic to meet Amy and Charlotte to give them their award for winning this year’s Samsung Solve for Tomorrow tech for good idea challenge. Before I was an MP, I worked in technology, and I know that out of the box thinking like the students at Byrchall have been doing is always needed, especially as tech gets more and more involved in our lives. Well done to them – I see bright things for their futures!”

LONDON, UK – 4 July – Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. has announced the winners of its fifth annual Solve for Tomorrow competition, which aims to uncover the most promising tech inventions from young people by asking 16-25 year olds to come up with ideas that help solve societal challenges.

The ideas showcased the passion young people have for future innovation and their drive to design a better world – exploring how technology can solve the issues they care about while tackling broader societal challenges. Nottingham based Eseose Okotako (23) of team Athena was announced as the winner in the 18-25 category with their impressive idea, a haptic collar that syncs with any audio to translate music into tailored vibrations, allowing deaf users to feel melody, rhythm and emotion.

Meanwhile, in the 16-18 category, Manchester based trio Daniel Aju (18), Harris Asif (18) and Nahom Ghirmay (18) of team Sanoband were announced in first place following their idea of a device that aims to help individuals with alcohol addiction by detecting cravings early, preventing relapse and supporting long-term recovery.

This year marked the first time the competition shortlisted 100 young people for workshops and mentoring stage, an increase from 24 to 49 teams in total, nearly doubling the number of participants. Samsung also supported every shortlisted young person with Samsung products.

Entries this year ranged from an assistive glove that replaces the lost dexterity within people with immobile hands, to an AI-driven breast health app that syncs with wearables to guide self-exams, track changes, and generate clinician-ready reports. An app, designed by team HeartAware that uses an AI-powered tool on your phone to detect heart risks, also received critical acclaim from the judges.

On top of this, team Zera, who designed a thermoelectric device to ease menopausal symptoms also won the People’s Choice Award – the best of the finalist submissions, which was voted on by over 2,000 people on Samsung’s social channels.

The 100 were shortlisted by a panel of Samsung experts and tech-for-good founders who reviewed submissions from 508 eligible applicants across the country, 49 teams took part in a programme of design thinking, market research and a newly introduced physical and digital prototyping workshop. Throughout the process, they also received mentoring, support and guidance from Samsung colleagues to help bring their ideas to life.

The programme follows statistics released that show nearly two-thirds (60%) of young people across the UK are considering a career in technology. Yet, 96% of respondents believe there are barriers to entering the industry and 65% feel their personal background impacts their ability to harness their creativity through tech.[1] The Solve for Tomorrow programme exists to prove that young people from all walks of life can come up with ideas that can make a difference in the world through the use of technology.

The existing partnerships between Samsung UK and organisations such as InnovateHer and the Social Mobility Foundation are essential to this mission, helping to reach and support young people who aren’t currently in education, employment or training.

The shortlisted ten teams were invited to Samsung’s head offices to showcase their ideas and formally pitch to a panel of Samsung experts and tech entrepreneurs. This was followed by the annual Solve for Tomorrow awards ceremony, where the winners were crowned.

Speaking about this year’s Solve for Tomorrow competition, Soohyun Jessie Park, Head of Corporate Social Responsibility at Samsung Electronics UK, said: “Solve for Tomorrow continues to empower young people to reflect on what truly matters to them whilst simultaneously channelling these passions into tangible action. It’s phenomenal to witness what young people are capable of even within the space of four months on the programme. Their commitment and passion is an inspiration and we’re so excited to support Eseose and team Sanoband to bring their ideas closer to the communities they care about.”

Eseose from team Athena, said: “It was an amazing experience being a part of this year’s Samsung Solve for Tomorrow competition. You don’t need qualifications or a team to enter – just a great idea! The experience has been incredibly valuable and helped with my confidence, and I strongly encourage anyone who is interested to give it a go. I’m glad I did!”

More details on how to enter the next Solve for Tomorrow competition will be announced later this year.

LONDON, U.K. – May 15, 2025: Samsung Electronics celebrated Global Accessibility Awareness Day this year with a week of accessibility events and workshops in the U.K. The company’s third edition of Accessibility Festival Week was brought to a close with a groundbreaking pilot event at St Paul’s Cathedral in London, aimed at bringing customers, partners and employees together, through a unique sound experience.

In collaboration with hearing-aid provider, GN, and Ampetronic, Samsung showcased Auracast technology to attendees wearing Galaxy Buds3 Pro or GN hearing aids, which allows a single device to broadcast to multiple receivers, to embark on a unique journey of shared listening. Audio of this experience was broadcasted using Auracast microphones and transmitters directly into participants’ Galaxy Buds3 Pro or GN hearing aids, eliminating background noise to enhance clarity.

Auracast & LE Audio

Introduced in 2022 by the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG), Low Energy (LE) Audio is an updated standard for Bluetooth technology. It enables more power-efficient and higher-quality wireless transmission of audio from a broadcasting device such as a smartphone, to a receiver such as earbuds.

Auracast is a feature of LE Audio that allows broadcasting from an audio source to multiple audio receivers, including earbuds and hearing aids, turning phones or TV’s into a radio station. It revolutionises audio experiences by enabling multiple devices to connect to a single audio source, fostering an inclusive listening environment. It also enhances audio clarity by reducing background noise, making it ideal for echo-prone venues like cathedrals and museums. Additionally, Auracast offers personalised sound settings, ensuring that users can tailor audio to their preferences and hearing needs, whether enjoying an audio tour or watching TV at home.

Samsung has led efforts to ensure LE Audio compatibility for mobile devices and hearing aids. Since 2022, the company has been pushing for the expansion of LE Audio, introducing 360 Audio Recording and later adopting Auracast through the Buds2 Pro software update.

Samsung’s commitment to hearing accessibility

Among other areas, Samsung’s mission to redefine hearing accessibility has led to an unprecedented collaboration between mobile technology and hearing-aid innovation. With Auracast, Samsung bridges the gap between consumer audio and hearing devices, crafting a seamless, intelligent, and connected listening experience.

Beyond Personal Audio: Now, both Galaxy Buds and hearing-aid users can tune into the same audio simultaneously, without limitations.

Beyond Phones: When moving from your smartphone to TV, or from public to private spaces, sound stays with you—with no need to manually pair your device to each new transmitter. Anyone nearby can tune in freely to a shared audio stream, just like joining a public Wi-Fi.

Beyond Boundaries: Whether at a stadium, airport or cafe, personalised audio is accessible in any setting.

Accessibility Festival Week

Ahead of bringing this vision to life at St Paul’s Cathedral, Samsung hosted its third annual Accessibility Festival Week (AFW) in London. The festival aims to reinforce the company’s commitment to accessibility and foster collaboration across departments and regions. Participants joined a host of activities, including ‘Inspiration Tours’ exploring inclusive design practices at Samsung KX and Google’s Discovery Centre. Staff were invited to attend a number of accessibility workshops, and this was followed by a keynote session led by Simon Sung, President and CEO of Samsung Electronics Europe, and Jinsoo Kim, Head of the Samsung Accessibility Committee, who shared the company’s accessibility strategy and vision for inclusive innovation.

A recent study by Samsung UK and OnePoll revealed that over two-thirds (68%) of UK adults with disabilities feel excluded from products and services due to accessibility issues, highlighting a significant gap in mainstream brands’ efforts to cater to diverse needs. 80% of respondents believe brands are missing out by neglecting inclusive design, while 72% have abandoned purchases due to inaccessible design.

Speaking on this week’s activity of events, Charlotte Grant, Head of People Experience, Samsung UK, said: “At Samsung, we are proud of our ongoing commitment to increasing the accessibility of experiences through our innovation and we were delighted to partner with GN and Ampetronic to showcase Auracast at St Paul’s Cathedral. It was fantastic to take people through a innovative experience with inclusive technology and a great way to end our Accessibility Festival Week in the UK. We are committed to directly involving our customers and employees in our decision-making by taking on their feedback to improve our products and services, and help support our mission to inspire a culture of inclusive design across our organisation, into our products and beyond.”

LONDON, U.K. – May 06, 2025 – Samsung Electronics UK announced the final 10 teams shortlisted for their annual tech for good competition, Samsung Solve for Tomorrow. Now in its fifth year, the initiative is designed to empower young people, regardless of their background, by encouraging them to submit tech-for-good solutions that benefit society by addressing real-world issues.

Solve for Tomorrow is free to enter, and open to all young people aged 16-25 across the UK and Ireland. 508 applicants submitted ideas to this year’s competition before the deadline on 12th January, and 49 teams were then shortlisted to take part in expert-led workshops and Samsung mentoring. For the first time this year, all 100 young people shortlisted also received a Samsung Galaxy Tab to support them through their workshops.

Participants took part in five weeks of design thinking, market research & prototyping workshops alongside 1-2-1 Samsung mentorship, to help develop their design concepts ready for re-submission in April.

Commenting on her experience as a Samsung Mentor, Jessica Diniz, Senior Manager at Samsung Design Europe, said: “It’s so inspiring to work with young entrepreneurs and creatives, whose ideas will fuel technological possibilities for a more equitable world in the next era of AI. Their highly progressive ideas and high-quality design output bring fresh perspectives on the power of STEM, Innovation and Design to pioneer positive change.”

To decide which teams would make it through to the final stages of the competition, our panel of Samsung and industry experts closely reviewed participants’ submissions, whittling down the shortlist to just 10 final teams across both age categories (16-18 and 18-25).

Charlotte Heard, Managing Director at Mettle Studios, was part of the judging panel for this year’s 18-25 category and commented on our finalists:“It was such a joy to be immersed in the ideas that felt truly innovative and aimed to solve some of society’s biggest challenges. I can’t wait to see what the winning candidates go on to achieve – we’re so lucky to have a platform like Samsung Solve for Tomorrow to support the change makers of the future.”

The final 10 have now made it through to the ultimate phase of the competition, where they will pitch their idea to another panel of Samsung & industry experts, to be in with the chance of winning a £10,000 cash prize, Samsung tech and further mentoring to help them make their idea a reality.

The winners and runners up for each age category (16-18 and 18-25) will be announced following the awards ceremony in July.
