Samsung and Etopia Announce Innovative New Partnership
Samsung Electronics and Etopia have signed a ground-breaking partnership to create homes of the future. This partnership sets the benchmark for the true integration of technology into the built environment and a statement on how the future of building looks.
Etopia are unique in the way that they approach the built environment, a tech led smart building company that categorises itself as Ecitech (energy, construction and intelligent technologies), something that has not existed pre-Etopia, because building has never been this innovative before.
Etopia combines energy, construction and intelligent technologies to build some of the world’s highest performing buildings, with all current homes tested achieving an average of 103/100 EPC rating, beyond an A.* The way these technologies are combined is versatile enough to apply to any kind of building including schools, homes and commercial to lay the blueprint for the smart cities of the future.
In the UK The Avenue, at Priors Hall Park, by Etopia Homes is the pilot scheme that has broken the mould through its next generation building solution and is part of the BEIS ‘Building for 2050’ project. Etopia’s system is truly global and having successfully deployed an energy positive and smart shanty replacement building in Namibia, Africa, Etopia are laying the groundwork to expand across America and Asia. Samsung, being world leaders in technology, becoming a partner at this stage will only accelerate the offer and further enhance Etopia’s already climate change defining achievements, whilst Etopia will respectively bring Samsung onto the frontline of climate resilience through their association with one of the greenest construction and technology companies in the world.
Founded in South Korea in 1969, Samsung inspires the world and shapes the future with transformative ideas and technologies. The company is redefining the worlds of TVs, smartphones, wearable devices, tablets, digital appliances, network systems, and memory, system LSI, foundry, LED solutions and climate solutions.
This new partnership demonstrates the scope to work with innovative tech start-ups and it’s clear that the fight for net zero for future generations is high on the agenda. This kind of support for companies combining construction, energy and IoT couldn’t come at a better time, when a need for change is unequivocal.
Project Etopia CEO and Founder Joseph Daniels Comment – “Etopia are at the forefront of climate change ‘by providing housing that have either no negative impact on the environment or actually provide more energy than they use. We have pioneered technologies across the construction, energy and IoT industries to create the blueprint for the homes of the future, as we recognise that the climate change fight will need support from all sectors, and Samsung partnering with Etopia shows that big tech is taking the fight seriously and I for one am extremely delighted to be partnered with one of the world’s leading technology company to increase our efforts”
Francis Chun, President and CEO, Samsung Electronics UK & Ireland added: “At Samsung, we believe that innovation is only truly meaningful if it enables people to make progress in their lives. Across everything we do, our efforts aim to be in harmony with our planet, and this partnership sets out to do exactly that. We are proud to be taking a step into this field and are delighted to be working with Etopia to help build a better future.”
Notes to editors
Phase one of the partnership is already underway, with plans to build 6000 new build houses in the UK over the next five years. The build will integrate Samsung’s state-of-the-art heat pump technology for air cooling and water heating and cooling. It will result in traditional combustion boilers to be replaced with energy efficient hydro units. Additionally, the units can be connected to solar panels saving energy through renewable sources.
