Samsung Celebrates 25 Years of Positively Impacting Local Communities
LONDON, UK – 20th November 2019 – This autumn marks the 25th anniversary of Samsung’s Global Volunteering Month, an initiative which has seen Samsung employee volunteer over one million hours to projects that help benefit local communities across the world to date.
This year, Samsung in the UK worked with volunteering partner Neighbourly to organise a range of activities throughout October in both Chertsey and London.
As part of Westminster Age UK’s initiative to tackle the growing issue of loneliness amongst older people, Samsung employees spent time with local residents aged over 65, offering guidance and lessons in staying connected through technology, over tea and biscuits.
Samsung employees supported with redecorating and gardening at the Mildmay Community Centre in Islington, a charity which supports the local community by hosting events and projects that range from indoor bowls to Spanish lessons for children.
Other charitable activities closer to Samsung House in Chertsey included the preparation of food parcels at St Saviours Foodbank in Sunbury, gardening and landscaping work at the Swan Sanctuary in Shepperton, as well as fundraising for both Guide Dogs for the Blind and Clivedon House.
The month of activities saw employees giving over 200 hours of their time to the local community and Samsung looks forward to carrying this momentum into 2020.
