LONDON, 12th October, 2021 – Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd has partnered with SignVideo to better connect with deaf or hard of hearing British Sign Language (BSL) users in the UK, as part of its Customer Support contact options.

Samsung is committed to technological innovation that is available to all users, with its Customer Support teams pursuing this in their interactions with customers too.

For deaf or hard of hearing people whose preferred language is BSL, Samsung now offers Sign Language Support. In collaboration with SignVideo, Sign Language Support allows customers to communicate with a registered BSL interpreter alongside a Samsung Expert. Sign Language Support is available for customers in the UK between 8am and 10pm, every day.

Whether customers need help with their product or if they’re looking for a new phone, TV, or appliance, the SignVideo partnership enables Samsung to better engage with the BSL community.

‘SignVideo are proud to have partnered with Samsung for accessible Video Relay support. We see this as a positive step towards inclusivity and removing barriers of entry for BSL users.’ – Andrew Dewey, CEO, SignVideo.

One in seven people in the UK has a hearing loss according to data from SignVideo, and within Britain the most common form of Sign Language is BSL. BSL has its own grammatical structure and syntax, as a language it is not dependent nor is it strongly related to spoken English.

All of Samsung’s products, content and services are built around a human-centred philosophy that recognises diversity and embraces difference. Samsung is committed to providing comprehensive accessibility features to better engage with all their customers, and are looking to expand their offering further in 2022.
