Samsung UK Joins Forces with Time Out London for ‘Side Hustle Session’ Series
Inspiring KX workshops spotlighted entrepreneurs that have successfully turned their hobbies into careers, teaching Londoners how they can follow in their footsteps
On a mission to ‘Power the Possible’ – Time Out and Samsung recently partnered with creative entrepreneurs to host workshops for curious Londoners at Samsung KX. Supported every step of the way by a unique ecosystem of tech, our entrepreneurs offered exclusive tips and expert career advice, shining a light on how Samsung’s suite of products can help people to better pursue their passions.
Each Side Hustle Session brought to life the story of an individual with a truly enterprising spirit, giving Time Out readers and Samsung users insights and practical tips as to how they, too, can make their dreams a reality by turning their hobbies into side-hustles and, eventually, even into a full-time career.
Introducing Digital Fashion Entrepreneur Carmen Christine
Learn how the London-based fashion designer turned her love of textiles, bright colour and vintage fashion into a thriving business.
Pro Hobby to Hustle Tips:
- First, don’t be afraid to be a bit cringe! Get yourself and your art out there. It doesn’t matter what you think other people think of you.
- Don’t feel defeated at the first hurdle. You’ve just got to march onwards and keep trying, especially with social media. You can feel very deflated, as a creative person, if you put things on social media and it doesn’t get enough attention. You might feel, well, my art must be rubbish, but it’s not the case! You’ve just got to keep creating and putting it out into the world.
- Lastly, community is huge! Find your community. Reach out to people. Collaborate with other artists –that’s a really fun part of being a creative in the modern age. Make the most of it, network and make friends.
Samsung’s range of tablets are a perfect tool for anyone wishing to turn their passion for designing into a career – and, paired with a Samsung smartphone, it’s easy to share pictures, videos and inspiration between devices, whilst also having instant access to an online audience.

Introducing Sustainable Food Entrepreneur Chantelle Nicholson
Hear how the founder of low-waste Mayfair restaurant Apricity turned her natural talent for cooking into a high-flying food career.
Pro Hobby to Hustle Tips:
- The thing I’ll always be grateful for was my naivety. I had no idea what I was getting myself into when I came to London, and I think if I had known I’d have been too scared. So, don’t overthink.
- I’d also say, be proactive. Right now, there are so many different and welcoming places that would embrace you spending time with them to see what it’s like and get a little taster.
- And lastly, remember that you won’t have lost anything by doing it, rather than waiting or worrying that you’re not good enough. So just jump in and do it!
Samsung’s suite of smart kitchen products can make preparing and cooking easier than ever, and, with the help of a smartphone to capture engaging, high-quality content, building an online community can be easier than ever.

Introducing Fitness Community Entrepreneur Warren Whitely
Discover how a Londoner with a passion for fitness has built a community on the ethos of training the mind and the body – using technology to stay at the top of his game.
Pro Hobby to Hustle Tips:
- My main thing – and I say this from experience – you have to fail, and you have to fail often, in order to learn what not to do. Don’t be scared to try something and don’t be scared of everybody’s opinions.
- On social media, you don’t have to copy what everyone else is doing. Be unique, and when you show up as yourself, if that gets attention, and if that does well, then you know that you’re never going to have to work at that, because it’s going to be easy – it’s going to come to you because you’re being yourself.
- Lastly, do it for the love. Do it to be better at it, and the money will come afterwards. They say do your nine to five so you can work on your five to nine. At this moment in time, if money is essential, then do what it is that you need to do to earn as much money as possible to give you that time, five to nine, to be able to work on your craft and the thing that you really love. Eventually, that will replace the nine to five. It did for me!
For those working towards a career in fitness, personal training, or simply wishing to track their progress, the range of Samsung Galaxy watches can provide data and insights to support along the way.
