Samsung’s Micro RGB TV Sets a New Standard for Next-Generation Picture Quality

September 25, 2026

From winning the CES 2026 Best of Innovation Award at the start of 2026 to being named one of TIME magazine’s “Best Inventions of the Year,” Samsung’s Micro RGB TV has earned global recognition. Building on 20 years of global TV leadership1 and its debut with the world’s first Micro RGB TV, Samsung Electronics is setting new benchmarks for next-generation television technology.

Samsung is always striving to innovate for the benefit of the customer. Out of this was borne the concept of Micro RGB. A concept which miniaturised the backlight unit itself to a micro level. Micro RGB uses microscopic red, green and blue LEDs (colour), each under 100 microns, that emit light independently. This results in an ultra-wide spectrum colour, stunning brightness, precise contrast and true depth for a lifelike viewing experience.

Samsung set an ambitious target of achieving 100% BT.2020 Wide Colour Gamut coverage2 – an international standard for ultra-high-definition TV colour, set by the International Telecommunication Union. In simple terms it means that it can show the full colour range defined by that standard, helping images look richer, more accurate and more lifelike.

It also means a level of colour reproduction once limited to professional monitors can now be experienced on TVs and marks a significant advancement in the technical standards of the display industry.

Bringing Cutting-Edge Technology into Everyday Viewing

Micro RGB achieves one of the highest colour gamuts available in TVs today. Samsung has ensured its Micro RGB technology utilises enhanced software capabilities to ensure users can experience the difference across a wider range of content from HDR content to everyday content such as OTT streaming and sports.

Available in the R95H and R85H series in sizes from 55 to 115 inches, Micro RGB delivers highly precise light control, richer detail and more natural colour.

Additionally, Glare Free technology3 minimises light reflection in bright environments, helping preserve a clear viewing experience across a range of lighting conditions.

Toward the Next-Generation Screen Experience

The Micro RGB TV goes beyond technological advancement, it expands the boundaries of how users experience screens in everyday life while setting new standards for the industry.

As the Micro RGB TV continues to push the boundaries of innovation, Samsung is paving the way for the next generation of screen experiences.
