Aug. 15, 2017 – Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. today announced the introduction of the Samsung Portable SSD T5– the newest portable solid state drive

Aug. 15, 2017 – Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. today announced the introduction of the Samsung Portable SSD T5– the newest portable solid state drive (PSSD) that raises the bar for the performance of external memory products. The T5, built with Samsung’s latest 64-layer V-NAND technology, delivers industry-leading transfer speeds with encrypted data security in a compact and durable design, making it easier than ever for consumers to access their most valuable data anywhere, at any time.

“Samsung has been pushing the envelope of what is possible in portable storage and solid state drives for years, and the Portable SSD T5 continues our legacy of leadership and innovation,” said Un-Soo Kim, Senior Vice President of Brand Product Marketing, Memory Business at Samsung Electronics. “We are confident that the T5 will exceed consumers’ expectations for external storage by offering faster speeds and a solid design that is lightweight and conveniently pocket-sized. It is the ideal portable storage product for consumers and professionals who are in search of a fast, durable and secure device.”

Delivering stunning speeds of up to 540 MB/s[1] – up to 4.9 times faster[2] than external HDD products – the new T5 is designed especially for content creators, business and IT professionals as well as mainstream consumers to give instant, easy access to data. Also, the T5 is smaller than an average business card at 74 x 57.3 x 10.5 millimeters (3.0 x 2.3 x 0.4 inches) and incredibly lightweight at a mere 51 grams, comfortably fitting in the palm of your hand. The aluminum exterior comes in two distinct metal finishes – Deep Black (1TB and 2TB models) and Alluring Blue (250GB and 500GB models).

With no moving parts and a shock-resistant internal frame, the T5 offers users peace of mind as it can withstand accidental drops of up to 2 meters (6.6 feet)[3]. The Samsung Portable SSD Software[4] for PCs and Macs based on the AES 256-bit hardware data encryption makes it easy to configure security settings and receive the latest firmware and software updates. A mobile app[5] is also available for Android smartphones and tablets for even further convenience. In addition, the T5 includes two connection cables – USB-C to C and USB-C to A – for enhanced compatibility across numerous devices.[6]

The T5 comes with a three-year limited warranty and will be available globally Aug. 15 with a manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) starting at £125.49 for the 250GB model. For more information, please visit www.samsung.com/T5.

Pulleys, plants, and even a surfboard feature in the shortlist of 15 stunning designs that have made it to the finals of a competition to create a unique stand for Samsung Electronics’ QLED TVs.

Samsung has partnered with Dezeen, a leading design and architectural magazine, to call for innovative stand concepts for Samsung’s QLED TV and announce the finalists for Samsung’s first ever global TV accessory design competition. The competition drew more than 1,200 participants from 83 different countries and the competition rate was as high as 80:1.

By making it to this stage of the competition, the 15 shortlisted designs will move on to the next round of judging, from which five designs will make the final cut. The final five will be announced on August 21, with each gaining a cash prize. A total prize of 30,000 euros will be awarded.

In order to participate in the competition, designers submitted their best QLED TV stand designs along with a corresponding strategic business plan.

Extraordinary designs

The competition’s shortlist features a variety of groundbreaking designs, including a TV stand that doubles as a plant pot and another that incorporates a decorative display shelf. Others include a design featuring a counter-weighted pulley system, one inspired by the Danish “hygge” craze and one that doubles as a surfboard stand.

Competition applicants were asked to develop their stand designs with a particular focus on users’ lifestyles in mind. While some of the designs are over-the-top, many that made the shortlist range from simple wooden designs and ceiling-mounted systems intended for minimal homes, to colored glass stands designed to match more luxurious interior décor.

Major showcase

The five finalists will also be invited to IFA (Internationale Funkausstellung) 2017, Europe’s leading consumer electronics and home appliance trade show, in Berlin, Germany from September 1 to 6. The top five designs will also be exhibited as part of a special installation at the Samsung booth at the show.

Samsung’s QLED TV is truly a lifestyle TV that gives consumers the freedom to place their television in various living spaces. The QLED TV is currently available in both flat and curved screen models and can be used with a variety of interchangeable stands, including the Gravity and Studio Stands. The QLED TV lineup is the first to standardize its TV stand structures, meaning each stand is compatible for the 55-inch and 65-inch QLED TV models as well as The Frame. These unique stands allow for consumers to customize their living spaces to fit their personal home aesthetic.

“Samsung believes in developing beautifully designed products that provide overall value to our consumers and their unique lifestyles. That’s why we’ve chosen to work with Dezeen to find the next great TV accessory,” said HyunSuk Kim, President of the Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics. “Our products are not only about innovative technology alone, but also about enhancing users’ existing home décor.”

London, UK – 20 July 2017 – Samsung Electronics today announced that it has expanded the Samsung Pay experience onto the Gear S3 smartwatch in the UK, further solidifying Samsung as a leader in connected wearables.

Samsung Pay for Gear S3 is compatible with select Samsung devices and all non-Samsung mobile devices running Android 4.4 (KitKat). This independently enables payments on Gear S3 almost anywhere you can use your contactless credit or debit card* (including Transport for London), providing another payment option for Samsung Pay users. The user experience is intentionally similar to the phone version of Samsung Pay, allowing for greater consumer convenience and seamlessness when paying with Gear S3.

Setting up Samsung Pay on Gear S3 is easy. Simply install the most up-to-date version of the Samsung Gear App on your compatible mobile device, register your compatible card, authenticate your ID, set-up your security PIN and you’re ready to start paying immediately.

Samsung Pay is designed to make paying with your device safe, simple and convenient;

SIMPLE: With Samsung Pay, every transaction is easy. Users can launch Samsung Pay through simply holding the watch over a NFC payment reader with the top of the watch facing the NFC terminal.

SECURE: With each transaction, Samsung Pay uses an encrypted digital token to replace sensitive card information, preventing fraud. Additionally, Samsung’s industry-leading Knox security platform is built into the hardware and software of your device, which ensures mobile information and data is secure.

ALMOST ANYWHERE: Samsung Pay is accepted almost anywhere you can use your contactless credit or debit card.

Samsung Electronics, the leading global TV manufacturer, announced the rollout of its QLED TV accessories, featuring unique TV stands and its own transparent ‘Invisible Connection’ optical cables.

With the release of these new QLED accessories, Samsung is reinforcing its commitment to providing users with the flexibility and choice to place their TVs anywhere in the room. In addition to the standard TV stand that comes with all QLED TVs, consumers can now purchase the Samsung Studio Stand or the Samsung Gravity Stand to match their personal tastes and lifestyle.

Starting in the US, Europe and Korea, sales of the QLED TV accessories including stands and optical cables will gradually extend globally.

“The QLED TV is a lifestyle television specifically designed with the consumer’s space in mind,” said Hyeon-seok Kim, President of the Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics. “We aim to raise the bar and set a new standard for the TV accessory market, allowing TVs to serve as a functional piece of décor in the home.”

With a contemporary look and feel, the Samsung Gravity Stand enhances rooms with its modern design and shape. Comprised of stainless steel, which is often used by architects and furniture manufacturers due to its strength and aesthetic appeal, the Gravity Stand is so discreet that the QLED TV looks as if it were floating when affixed. The stand’s small size also enables the TV to be placed in previously limited spaces. The Gravity Stand also supports the functionality to turn the TV screen up to 70 degrees (up to 35 degrees left or right).

The Samsung Studio Stand is designed to allow the QLED TV to be displayed as a masterpiece in the home. Without extra furniture, such as a TV cabinet or bulky entertainment console, the Studio Stand provides consumers with the ability to easily place their TV anywhere in their home.

Previously, each TV model had its own standard and dimensions for its stand. Today, Samsung has standardized its TV stand structures, making them compatible for 55-inch and 65-inch models including the entire QLED TV series – Q9, Q8 and Q7. This standardization of stand structure enables Samsung televisions to be more easily mounted and replaced as needed.

For those who wish to mount their TVs, Samsung’s unique no-gap wall mounting system is the suitable solution. Samsung plans to open the mounting solution for its QLED TVs to the TV industry to support the growth of the TV accessories market.

Additionally, Samsung has released its new Invisible Connection, which helps connect the TV to its peripheral devices with a thin, transparent optical cable that is 1.8-millimeters in diameter. A 5-meter option is included with the QLED TV purchase and a 15-meter version is sold separately. Using a single thread of transparent cable, this technology allows users to better manage messy and unsightly cables that typically surround the TV. As a result, Invisible Connection allows consumers to reclaim their space and elevate their home décor.

Meanwhile, Samsung’s The Frame, which launches globally soon, also provides three customizable frame options – Walnut, Oak and White. Consumers can purchase each frame separately, and match their TV to their living space as well as their taste.
