Not anymore. In the spirit of a ‘Games Wide Open’ at Paris 2024, Samsung is helping athletes create and share new, more personal memories of the celebration atop the podium with the Victory Selfie powered by Galaxy.

In an Olympic Games first, medalists at Paris 2024 have been documenting their ceremonies from their own perspective as they were handed the Galaxy Z Flip6 Olympic Edition on the podium to take their Victory Selfie after receiving their Olympic medals. The selfies have been uploaded automatically and wirelessly to the Athlete365 portal so athletes can share their moments on a whole new level — perfectly aligning with Samsung’s belief that ‘Open always wins’ and that openness creates new perspectives and infinite possibilities.

“To be able to share the moment of achieving my dream of winning a medal with my fans, family and friends around the world — through my own perspective — was incredible,” said Team Samsung Galaxy member Rayssa Leal (Skateboarding, Brazil). “It not only amplified a moment I’ll never forget but also celebrated the camaraderie beyond the competition as my fellow medalists and I took the Victory Selfie together on the podium.”

London, UK – Commuters were stopped in their tracks this morning as they spotted a full size, folded London bus in East London.

The iconic single decker, which measures 6m by 6.2m appeared to have been folded upwards at 90-degree angle with is rear end nearly six metres off the ground.

The bus forms part of a public art project, specially commissioned by Samsung to celebrate the release of the Galaxy Z Fold6 and Galaxy Z Flip6, which come with a range of new features now with Galaxy AI.

Created by artist Caspar Philips, the bus which includes a host of recycled materials from real London buses, was constructed to the accurate scale of a real single decker bus taking a total of 2 months to design and build.

Additional public art installations include a folded bench, lamppost and telephone box, created by designer Jem Hughes, in Old Street which has been aptly renamed to Fold Street temporarily in partnership with TfL as they unveil their new foldable range.

Across the Tube station, selected roundels, areas around benches in platforms and signs at the station entrances have been temporarily changed to say Fold Street.

The iconic domed telephone box was complete with a payphone and phone book, with the lamppost folding at nearly three metres tall.

The public will be able to see the art installations for themselves as they remain in situ for  4 x days until 27^th July 2024.

The latest Galaxy Z series is the slimmest, lightest and most durable foldable series yet, and with Galaxy AI, customers can experience a new era of communication.

LONDON, United Kingdom – July 17, 2024 – Samsung Electronics Co., has released a new single called “Open Always Wins” in collaboration with K-Pop icons TOMORROW X TOGETHER (TXT), consisting of SOOBIN, YEONJUN, BEOMGYU, TAEHYUN, and HUENINGKAI. The new Galaxy brand anthem, which was first teased at Galaxy Unpacked last week, champions the pursuit of goals with an open mind, echoing Galaxy’s own core values of openness.

Set to an energetic guitar riff, “Open Always Wins” is an alternative rock track featuring the powerful vocals of TXT. Band members SOOBIN, YEONJUN, TAEHYUN and HUENINGKAI participated in penning the lyrics and based them on their own feelings and experience of openness.

In conjunction with the music video release, the “Open Always Wins” dance challenge will kick off as well, encouraging fans worldwide to show their support and cheer for their favourite athletes.

Athletes can also use Galaxy AI on the Olympic Edition phone to help prepare for competition, enhance their creativity, and capture lifelong memories at Paris 2024, with features including:

• Instant Slow-mo^[4] – allows athletes to record, share and analyse their performances in slow motion, making it easier for them to refine their technique.
• Photo Assist^[5] – enables athletes to get the perfect shot every time, by resizing, repositioning or even removing unwanted objects within photos.

Built-in Services and Apps Making the Olympic and Paralympic Experience Fun and Easy

To make it easier for athletes to use the phone while in Paris and beyond, each Galaxy Z Flip6 Olympic Edition will come with an eSIM of 100GB 5G data in partnership with Orange, and two years of Samsung’s global warranty. To bring some fun and personalisation to the athlete experience, each Galaxy Z Flip6 Olympic Edition will feature a suite of interactive, Paris 2024-themed apps, as well. Sharing Moments of Victory from the Podium Firsthand

Standing atop the Olympic and Paralympic podium during the medal ceremony and realising a lifelong dream is one of the most emotional and memorable moments an athlete can experience. Traditionally photographed by accredited media only because athletes have been prohibited from bringing personal belongings — including their mobile phones — to the ceremony, the view has always been captured from a distance and not through an athlete’s own lens.

For the first time in Olympic and Paralympic Games history, Samsung will provide the Galaxy Z Flip6 Olympic Edition for use on the podium at Paris 2024, so athletes can create their own memories and emotions via a new, victory selfie. Samsung’s customised technology will map and sort the athletes’ selfies by sport and upload them to Athlete365 in real-time, which will allow athletes to save and share their iconic moments with family and fans.

The Galaxy Z Flip6 Olympic Edition will be displayed at Olympic rendezvous @ Samsung showcases, including the one at Champs-Elysees 125, starting 12 July. Galaxy AI has also enhanced barrier-free communication on Galaxy Z Fold6. Maximising its unique dual screen form factor, Interpreter^[12] comes with a new conversation mode that enables both parties to conveniently view translations on the main and cover screens for more natural interactions. It also offers one-way translation, so you can easily understand when listening during lectures or any other type of presentation. Live Translate,^[13] which translates phone calls directly on your device in real-time, is also now being extended beyond Samsung’s own native calling app to a selection of popular third-party apps.

An enhanced BioActive Sensor offers increased accuracy, empowering users to better understand themselves with comprehensive readings. Equipped with the most powerful chip in the Galaxy Watch line-up, and for the first time a 3nm Processor, Galaxy Watch7 delivers a more seamless wearable experience with three times faster CPU and 30% improved power efficiency of application processor. In addition, Galaxy Watch7 is the first Galaxy smartwatch to feature a Dual-frequency GPS system, which can more precisely track location even in dense urban environments, enabling users to conquer wherever they are.

Featuring Samsung’s iconic circle design, Galaxy Watch7 allows users to match their personal style with new watch bands, including a ripple shape design and colourful stitch details, along with a variety of watch faces. Galaxy Watch Ultra: Maximising Passionate Performance

Building on the foundation of Galaxy Watch7’s advanced health monitoring features and powerful hardware, Galaxy Watch Ultra – the newest and most powerful addition to the Galaxy Watch portfolio – further unlocks enhanced fitness experiences for next-level achievements with ultimate intelligence and capabilities. Echoing Galaxy Watch’s circle design legacy, a new cushion design enhances protection and visual completeness, while a Dynamic Lug System for enhanced comfort empowers users to be the best versions of themselves anywhere, anytime.

Premium capabilities built for extreme durability enable users to push limits and go further with a Titanium Grade 4 device casing and a 10ATM water resistance^[17]. Additionally, Galaxy Watch Ultra operates at a wider range of altitudes, from 100 meters below sea level to 9,000 meters high for tracking advanced fitness experiences like swimming to cycling in extreme environments.

Furthering this mission, Samsung is raising the bar again and introducing the newest iteration of its BioActive Sensor. Coming to the next Galaxy Watch, the new sensor will enable advanced predictive and preventative wellness features never before seen on a wearable device — in addition to more accurate health measurements.^[2]

Introducing Samsung’s New BioActive Sensor

The all-new BioActive Sensor is essential to bringing you better preventative health experiences on the next Galaxy Watch, with design improvements that enable even more precise health insights. Samsung engineers focused on three upgrades to the new sensor: enhancing the performance of light-receiving photodiodes, adding additional colors of light-emitting diodes (LEDs), and arranging them optimally across the sensor.

Samsung more than doubled the performance of each photodiode, successfully decreasing the number needed to maintain capacity from eight to four. This redesign freed up additional space for the integration of a larger number and variety of LEDs and ensured their optimal placement across the sensor. The new sensor now includes Blue, Yellow, Violet and Ultraviolet LEDs in addition to an increased number of Green, Red and Infrared LEDs. With the integration and arrangement of these LEDs, photodiodes and specially designed photodiode, Samsung is taking innovation one step further and is now able to pursue unexplored aspects of health monitoring on wearables.

Bringing Greater Accuracy and New Possibilities for Preventative Wellness

The optimal allocation of Green, Red and Infrared LEDs sets new standards in wearable technology by improving accuracy and enabling exceptional performance across a broad array of health metrics. This allows the new BioActive Sensor to more accurately measure health metrics such as heart rate, sleep quality, blood pressure^[3], blood oxygen levels and stress levels^[4]. Even the measurement of heart rate during intensive workouts is 30% more accurate compared to its predecessor.

The more diverse colors of LEDs and newly designed photodiodes unlock new possibilities and empower you to better predict trends and take proactive steps for preventative care. The first of these features will be an Advanced Glycation End Products (AGEs) Index^[5] — an indicator of metabolic health and biological aging strongly influenced by overall lifestyle and dietary habits. Used as an insightful biomarker, this index provides a snapshot of your biological age to help you make more informed decisions about your wellness journey and work towards a healthier future. The addition of an AGEs Index is just one of the many new advanced features planned for the next Galaxy Watch.
