With over a third of Brits dedicating more time to wellbeing, Samsung is launching free virtual yoga sessions across the UK

LONDON, England – June 17th, 2020 – Despite being asked to stay at home, Brits are keeping positive and challenging themselves to stay motivated by trying new things, with yoga revealed as one of the top three hobbies being tried for the first time during recent months. To encourage people to stay active during this time, Samsung is partnering with leading wellness enthusiast Cat Meffan, to deliver a series of virtual yoga sessions, for people to enjoy from home at their own pace.

New research commissioned by Samsung[1] has revealed Brits are upping the ante on their health and fitness routine, with over a third now focussing more on their wellbeing and 29% having a new interest in mindful activities to distract from the outside world.

Amongst the Yogis, there has also been an abundance of new runners, cyclists and walkers, with a quarter of the population still hitting an average of 2,000 steps a day and making the most of their outdoor time.  But it’s not just outdoor activities, almost half of Brits are now exercising from the comfort of their own home, with one in five intending to continue these home workouts once the restrictions lift.

Technology has also played a key role in getting the nation active with almost a quarter feeling inspired by online fitness classes or using smart devices to track their progress. Downloadable apps like Samsung Health easily facilitate this, with users able to set personalised targets, get expert advice, workout inspiration and virtually compete with friends from their phone or smartwatch to keep the motivation going.

As a result, Samsung and Cat Meffan have teamed up to enhance the UK’s wellbeing movement by offering the ultimate virtual yoga experience, hosted on the Samsung KX digital website. The three-part series kicks off from the 18th June at 8:30am and is completely free to join, allowing guests to tap in from the comfort of home.

“I’m really excited to be partnering with Samsung to host my virtual yoga sessions for those seeking a fix of movement and mindfulness. Beyond fitness and wellbeing, connection is needed now more than ever before, and I’m so glad that this digital hub on the Samsung KX website will allow us all to virtually come together, feel inspired to take part, and follow Samsung’s amazing ethos of Do What You Can’t” said Cat Meffan, leading wellness enthusiast and host of the digital classes.

The virtual sessions will cover all levels, so anyone can join along at their own pace, from the comfort of their own home. Cat Meffan will use Samsung’s ecosystem of products, including Samsung S20 Ultra, Galaxy Watch Active2 and Buds+ to guide viewers through a Yoga for Beginner’s session, followed by Yoga for Strength and Vinyasa Flow classes.
