Which TV Should I Buy This Black Friday?
Whether it’s upgrading for winter movie nights and gaming marathons, searching for gifts, or setting up for the ultimate sporting experience ahead of next year’s international football – November remains one of the most popular times to upgrade your TV.
As we head into the Black Friday sales period, when TV deals dominate headlines and shoppers scramble for the best bargains, Samsung reveals a surprising truth: most Britons struggle to understand which TV best suits their needs and often invest without fully grasping its features and benefits.[1]
Jeremy Demont, Director of TV/AV Product Management at Samsung UK shares some useful guidance to help you choose the right TV for you this Black Friday and festive season.
What’s more important? Picture quality or screen size?
“Black Friday is still a key moment for people looking to secure a great TV deal. Don’t be fooled by the idea that bigger means better. The savvy shopper looks beyond a bargain price and focuses on brands that deliver a premium end-to-end experience through superior picture quality, thoughtful design and innovative features. Ultimately you don’t want to be replacing your TV every 2-3 years.”
An example and testament of that quality, Samsung’s QN90F Neo QLED TV has earned awards and full 5/5 ratings from multiple highly-respected publishers. ‘One of the best TVs you can buy,’ according to What Hi-Fi, ‘stunning’ picture quality praise from TechRadar, and Expert Reviews highlighted its ‘exceptional gaming support.’ Samsung TVs have also received industry certifications, such as Real Quantum Dot Display for its QLED TVs from TÜV Rheinland, an international certification organisation based in Germany.
Samsung is currently offering up to £250 off with Trade Up on selected models of its OLED, Neo QLED and The Frame TVs[2], and on top of that you can claim cashback equal to the VAT paid[3] on TVs that will last you many years.
Which TV will last for the future?
“New Samsung research reveals that more than half of UK shoppers (54%) spend less than two hours researching a new TV – and 8% do none at all1,” says Jeremy. “It’s therefore important to understand the basics – whether you’re buying Micro RGB, OLED, Neo QLED, QLED, or Ultra HD – and make sure the TV is built to be future-proof so you’re investing in years of great viewing, not just the moment.”

To help with making your decision, Samsung has put together a guide that explains TV screen technology in a little more detail. Its latest TVs are packed full of exciting features. On select models, thanks to Vision AI, AI upscaling can keep content sharp, ensuring your viewing is in 4K or 8K, even if it wasn’t originally filmed that way.[4]
Jeremy notes, “Broadcast TV still accounts for more than half (56%)[1] of all UK viewing which doesn’t broadcast in higher quality than HD and sometimes even only in SD. Therefore, it’s definitely worth paying for a better TV as features such as AI upscaling in our Samsung TVs will automatically improve lower-resolution content bringing it closer to true 4K clarity even when streaming.[4]
“At Samsung, our focus has always been on delivering the most immersive viewing experience possible whether you’re watching a movie, the football or streaming a TV series. It’s about picture processing, brightness, motion handling, colour accuracy, and sound integration – all of which elevate everything you watch. That’s why we’ve remained the global TV market leader for 19 consecutive years.[5]”

What else do you get when you choose a Samsung TV?
Samsung’s industry-leading 7 years of OS upgrades[6] ensure your TV will be up-to-date long after you’ve bought it. That means you’ll continue to receive new user interface features, performance improvements, and security enhancements for years to come – just like a smartphone. It also means that you’ll have an up-to-date TV not just for the international football in summer 2026, but for tournaments in many years to come.
Thanks to Samsung’s Made For package, you get more than just a screen too – all TV models come with access to a world of premium entertainment. Shoppers can enjoy over £500 in free subscriptions[7] to popular apps including Xbox Game Pass, Calm, Channel 4+, NFL Game Pass and more. Adding even more value, users can redeem up to £150 in credit on their Galaxy Store account when they set up their new TV.
Furthermore, everyone has access to thousands of movies, shows and entertainment through Samsung TV Plus. It comes integrated into its Smart TVs, so you can instantly access a vast library of shows, movies and more. No downloads, no installation, no subscription fee — it’s seriously all for free.[8]
So, if you’re a film fanatic and want to elevate your viewing experience further through sound devices, for a limited time only on Samsung.com, you can get a free Sound Device with select TVs[9], as well as free delivery.[10]
