With 46% Of Brits Wasting Time & Money On Bad Dates, Samsung Kx Reveals How To Really Put Chemistry To The Test
Forget finding your perfect type, it only takes 15 minutes to ‘track’ who really gets your heart racing at Samsung KX
LONDON, England – February 14, 2020 –With 2 in 5 people wishing they could test the spark before meeting a potential match, singles are set to embrace a new era of dating at Samsung KX, London’s new home of innovation in the heart of Coal Drops Yard.
A new study commissioned by Samsung KX, has revealed that 40% of Brits restrict themselves to only dating their ‘type on paper’. Yet despite the nation claiming to know what they want, over half (58%) wait up to a month to physically meet their match and 42% admit to these dates lacking a spark.
Even though we reach for the tick list, a third of Brits (33%) deem chemistry as the most important factor when it comes to romantic encounters, with over half the nation (54%) taking less than half an hour to feel it.
As a result, Samsung KX and happn have teamed up to offer those looking for love the ultimate micro-dating destination, enabling guests to physically track connections with no expense spared. The #SamsungKX series will be spread across 5 events where guests can partake in up to 3 15-minute micro-dates in one evening, except there’s a twist… All guests will test who really gets their hearts racing by wearing a Samsung Galaxy Watch to monitor their heartrate through each date.
Kicking off on Thursday 20th February, the experience will also include complimentary drinks and virtual ice breakers on Samsung mobile devices for guests to enjoy.
Marine Ravinet, Head of Trends, happn, comments:
“Here at happn, we want to help people forge long-lasting, deep connections. This starts with understanding that your type on paper isn’t necessarily going to be the one you fall in love with. This forward-thinking way of micro-dating blows romantic types out of the water and we’re excited to partner with Samsung KX to help build better couplings through Samsung technology. After all, meaningful relationships begin with real life meetings.”
Tanya Weller, Director of Samsung Showcase, KX said:
“We’re really excited to be hosting the #SamsungKX Micro-Dating series to help prevent more Brits wasting time and money on bad dates. This idea to literally track real chemistry and connections using our technology reaffirms what Samsung KX is all about, a true home of innovation. It’s experiences like these that really help us connect people and we’re looking forward to bringing more exciting events and workshops to our guests in the very near future.
What’s more, those lucky in love can take advantage of the Connection Corner from Thursday 20th February – Thursday 19th March. Offering an ongoing pop-up of romantic, digital activities, couples visiting Samsung KX will be encouraged to take a micro moment for each other.
Top micro-dating tips from happn:
Tip 1 – Don’t wait too long before going on the first date:
Smartphone apps are great for getting things started but chemistry is the ultimate test, and the sooner you can determine whether those online sparks translate into real-life chemistry, the better. No one wants to come across too keen by suggesting a date as the opener, but once you have established common interests and you think they may take your fancy, take the plunge and suggest a date. We recommend waiting no longer than 1 or 2 weeks before the first micro-date so initial digital sparks don’t fade.
Tip 2 – Use the power of tech:
Using wearable tech such as a Samsung Galaxy Watch is a fun and easy way of keeping an eye on who gives you butterflies and sends your heart racing during romantic encounters.
Tip 3 – Pick a safe yet inspiring space:
First dates are exciting but it’s important to be safe when meeting someone new for the first time. Pick a safe, public space and be sure to let your friends know where you’re going and when you expect to be home. If you are picking the location for your date, plan ahead and choose a location that’s fun and inspires conversation to make an impact in micro-minutes.
Tip 4 – Don’t be afraid to date out of your comfort zone:
If past relationships have not worked out – maybe this is because you always go for who you feel is your ‘perfect type’. Leave your prejudices behind and dare to meet someone different. Pay attention to the chemistry and remember, they say opposites attract for a reason!
Tip 5 – Be respectful if your date is not for you:
Don’t be rude or ghost someone if you are not interested after a date, just because you are talking via technology. It doesn’t cost you anything to say goodbye, to offer a polite message letting someone know you are not interested without leaving them hanging.
