Samsung Electronics America, Inc. is among 11 electronics industry leaders being recognized today by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for sustainably designing products and processes, while also diverting nearly 276,000 tons of electronics from landfills.

In December 2018, Samsung received the EPA’s Sustainable Materials Management (SMM) Gold Tier Champion Award for its leadership in e-waste collection and recycling.

“We’re proud to be honored by the EPA for our long-term commitment to proper disposal and recycling of e-waste throughout the U.S.,” said Mark Newton, Director of Corporate Environmental Affairs for Samsung Electronics America. “As one of the world’s largest electronics producers, Samsung embraces the responsibility of also being one of the world’s largest collectors of e-waste to help protect the environment.”

In 2017, Samsung collected and recycled over 124 million pounds of e-waste, and is also being recognized for providing convenient e-waste collection and responsible recycling through its conformance to e-Stewards certified recyclers.
