Young Hoon Eom
President and Chief Executive Officer
Young Hoon Eom is the President and CEO of Samsung Electronics North America, responsible for driving growth in the region and ensuring that Samsung Electronics’ innovations continue to shape and lead North American markets.
Prior to joining the North American executive team in 2017, Young Hoon Eom was the President and CEO of Samsung Electronics Europe for three years, leading a team of 14,000 employees across 17 European markets. Other past roles include Senior Executive President of Sales and Marketing in Samsung Electronics’ Digital Appliances Business where he was responsible for worldwide sales and marketing strategy.
Young-Hoon Eom has held a number of senior strategic and commercial roles for Samsung Electronics in a career that spans more than 30 years. His first European appointment was in 1990 where he worked for six years at Samsung Electronics Germany.
In 2010, he was a leader of North America’s Consumer Business Division, helping to enhance Samsung Electronics’ brand through the delivery of a range of ground-breaking products.
He is a proven leader and expert marketer, having joined Samsung Electronics’ Global Marketing Operations in 2000. During this time, he has achieved significant success in terms of business growth and brand development.
Young-Hoon Eom holds an MBA from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) and a Bachelor’s degree in metal engineering from Korea University.
General Manager, Mobile B2B division
Taher Behbehani is the General Manager of Samsung Electronics America’s Mobile B2B division, a multi-billion dollar business unit. In this role, Taher runs P&L, marketing, sales and business operations. He restructured an enterprise sales organization that serves 40,000 accounts across seven verticals, including small and medium businesses, large enterprises and the Fortune 500. Taher owns relationships with leading mobile carriers, distributors, resellers and service providers to bring emerging technology solutions to market.
At his core, Taher is an entrepreneur who takes a customer-centric approach to innovation. Currently, he is driving enterprise 5G adoption and exploring its potential to disrupt businesses worldwide. He brings a bold vision of change to Samsung and its B2B customers, fueled by his experience in different high-tech segments, including fintech, digital media, cloud services, communications and product development. He has a successful track record as an investor, advisor and entrepreneur, having founded two companies focused on advanced wireless technologies and telecom services.
His prior experience showcases an unconventional perspective that extends well beyond traditional executive leadership. As the former CMO of BroadSoft, Taher transformed its digital and marketing strategy and led C-Level discussions to rebrand and reposition the company as the leading industry visionary. He was instrumental in fostering Cisco’s $2B acquisition of BroadSoft in 2016. As a senior executive at American Express, Taher formed the digital innovation team and transformed digital strategy and product development to generate e-commerce growth.
Taher holds a B.S. in electrical engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and an M.S. in electrical engineering from Yale University.
Bryan BS Choi
Senior Vice President, Mobile Business
Mr. Bryan Choi is the Senior Vice President for the Mobile Business for Samsung Electronics America. Based in Plano, Texas, he oversees Carrier Sales, Mobile Product Marketing, Demand Generation, Mobile Strategy, Mobile B2B, Mobile Computing & Wearables, Mobile Retail Operations and Mobile Production Center teams.
A graduate of Seoul National University in mechanical engineering, Mr. Choi joined Samsung Electronics in January 1987 as a R&D member at Digital Video Player Group.
Since then, Mr. Choi has worked in diverse departments across the globe, including Marketing Director of Europe, President of Samsung Electronics Greece (SEGR), Samsung Electronics Austria (SEAG) and SVP of Sprint Sales & Marketing in 2012 in North America. In 2013, Mr. Choi joined Chairman’s Office in Seoul, where he served until March of 2017.
Most recently, Mr. Choi was appointed as Head of Product Marketing Group – Europe & CIS, where he is was responsible for sales and marketing for the telecommunications business in Europe & CIS.
Vice President, Strategy and Transformation
Michelle Crossan-Matos is the VP of Strategy and Transformation at Samsung Electronics America. With over 20 years of expertise in propelling billion-dollar brands forward through disruptive business models, Michelle has led multifaceted organizations across multiple locations and managed large business franchises of over $1 billion retail sales across the globe.
Michelle’s abundance of energy and enthusiasm for people, coupled with her unique strength to think strategically allows her to transform strategy into action in fast paced environments. Together, Michelle’s passion and skills have enabled her to deliver business results time and time again. She is also skilled at brand repositioning, transforming private equity backed niche brands into global luxury brands as can be seen in her work with Proctor & Gamble’s celebrity fragrance and Prestige fragrance portfolios as well as for Vertu, in the luxury technology space.
Over the years, Michelle has worked across a variety of business cultures, geographies and multiple industry sectors such as: Luxury, Beauty, Consumer Electronics, Private Equity and FMCG, leading their strategy and marketing offices. Through this journey, Michelle has learned the critical value of developing talent, creating high performing business models, building strong marketing fundamentals and understanding cultural nuances, all whilst managing complex businesses.
Michelle sits on the Scottish Government Trade Board as a GlobalScot, driving diversity through mentoring and coaching at the Celtic FC Foundation. She also is the Chair of London Branch for a Young Professional Group for the British Swiss Chamber of Commerce in Geneva.
Senior Vice President, Public Policy
John Godfrey is Senior Vice President of Public Policy for Samsung Electronics America, a U.S. subsidiary of Samsung Electronics Co. headquartered in South Korea. Based in Washington, D.C., he leads Samsung’s public policy team in engagement with government and industry, focusing on communications policy, digital television, wireless spectrum, health care, environment, broadband, cybersecurity, privacy and other areas.
An active participant in the Consumer Technology Association (CTA), Godfrey is a member and past chair of the CTA Foundation’s Board of Trustees and CTA’s Video Division Board, among other groups. He is also a past chairman of the Board of Directors of the Advanced Television Systems Committee, the standards developing organization for digital television broadcasting. He served on the Federal Communications Commission’s Downloadable Security Technology Advisory Committee in 2015 and the U.S. Access Board’s Electronic and Information Technology Accessibility Advisory Committee in 1998-1999.
Prior to joining Samsung in 2006, Godfrey was vice president of government affairs for Pioneer North America; and previously, he was director of government affairs for Sony Electronics. Earlier, he was with the Information Technology Industry Council, a trade association of leading information technology companies; the National Research Council, the policy research arm of the National Academies of Sciences and Engineering; and SRI International.
Godfrey has a Master of Arts degree in Telecommunications from George Washington University, a Master of Arts degree in East Asian Studies from Stanford University, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Government from the University of Texas at Austin. He and his wife, artist Ellen Hill, have two sons and live in Rockville, Md.
Senior Vice President and General Manager, Home Appliances
John Herrington has been Senior Vice President and General Manager of Home Appliances at Samsung Electronics America, Inc., since November 17, 2014. Mr. Herrington oversees all U.S. sales and marketing for Samsung’s Home Appliances.
Prior to joining Samsung, Mr. Herrington served as President of Sharp Electronics Marketing Company of America at Sharp Electronics Corporation. He held various roles at LG Electronics U.S.A., Inc., which included President of Digital Appliance, President of Sales, and Vice President of marketing and national account sales. He has served as a Director of Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers since April 2007.
Mr. Herrington lives in New Jersey with his wife and their two children. He earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin at Madison.
Senior Vice President, Customer Care
Michael Lawder oversees all U.S. customer service operations, including contact centers, field and depot operations, walk-in support locations, parts supply and quality assurance. Michael’s passion at Samsung is to help customers get the most out of their products. The Samsung Customer Care team is committed to making each day simpler, more productive and more enjoyable for customers.
Prior to Samsung, Michael spent almost six years at Electronic Arts Inc. where he served as Vice President of Worldwide Customer Experience. Prior to Electronic Arts, Michael had a 12-year tenure with Apple.
Executive Vice President and Head of Corporate Affairs
Dr. David Steel is the Executive Vice President and Head of Corporate Affairs for Samsung Electronics America. His team is responsible for increasing engagement and deepening trust in one of the world’s most dynamic consumer brands. He is based in Washington, D.C. and leads the corporation’s public affairs, corporate communications, product communications and corporate citizenship teams in the United States.
Dr. Steel has more than two decades of experience at Samsung, most recently serving as head of the company’s Global Communications Group in Seoul, South Korea. He first joined Samsung in 1997 in the Global Strategy Group, where he managed strategy and business development. He went on to hold several other high-level positions, eventually becoming Samsung’s first non-Korean corporate executive when appointed to serve as Vice President and Head of Marketing for the Digital Media Business in 2002. In that role, Dr. Steel was responsible for establishing the role of marketing within Samsung’s $25 billion consumer electronics business. He later went on to lead marketing strategy for the mobile phones business and, between 2008 and 2014, led corporate strategy, marketing and communications in his capacity as Executive Vice President of Samsung Electronics America.
Prior to joining Samsung, Dr. Steel worked at the global consulting firm McKinsey & Co. and Argonne National Laboratory of the U.S. Department of Energy. He holds a PhD in Physics from MIT, an MBA with Honors from the University of Chicago, and a BA in Physics from Oxford University. While at MIT, he was presented with the Karl Taylor Compton Prize, the university’s highest award for achievements in citizenship. He spent 2017 as an Advanced Leadership Fellow at Harvard University.
A Chartered Physicist (UK), Dr. Steel is a member of the Institute of Physics (UK) and the American Physical Society. He serves on the Board of Directors of the National Association of Manufacturers and the Organization for International Investment, and is a member of the Paralympic Advisory Committee of the US Olympic Committee. He is an Emeritus Board member of the Korean American Community Foundation.
Executive Vice President
Joe Stinziano is the Executive Vice President of Samsung Electronics America’s Consumer Business Division and is responsible for overseeing sales and marketing for an array of best-in-class consumer electronics products in the TV and Home Entertainment, Audio, Home Appliance and Personal Computing categories. An industry veteran of over 25 years, Joe joined Samsung as Senior Vice President of Sales in December 2009 and was promoted to his current role in 2013. Since joining the company, Joe has been credited with establishing Samsung as a market leader in technology innovations across a broad range of B2C and B2B products in the United States.
Prior to joining the Samsung team, Joe spent three years as Senior Vice President at D&M Holding responsible for marketing, sales, channel management and the P&L for the Denon brand. Joe also spent almost 10 years at Sony leading their AV, Recording Media and HDD related businesses, and eight years at AT&T/Lucent where he worked in both sales and marketing in their consumer markets and products divisions.
An Alumnus of Rutgers University with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and an avid sports fan, Joe is admired by his colleagues for his leadership style that combines innovative thinking with a drive to succeed. When he isn’t doing what he loves at Samsung, Joe enjoys spending time with his wife and two children in northern New Jersey, where he was born and raised. He is passionate about a number of charitable causes and is personally invested in supporting a range of local missions in his home state – from feeding the hungry and housing the underserved, to inspiring local youth to become tomorrow’s business leaders. Joe also serves on the Board of Directors for Junior Achievement of New Jersey.
