Samsung Supports U.S. Communities with COVID-19 Relief Efforts

8/25/2020

At Samsung, we have a long tradition of supporting the communities where our employees live and work. Since the onset of COVID-19, we have worked with partner organizations across the country to provide assistance to communities in need. We were proud to donate more than $4 million dollars to organizations in New Jersey, California and Texas.

We have been incredibly humbled by the work our partners have done to support the local communities impacted by this pandemic.

New Jersey

The New Jersey Pandemic Relief Fund (NJPRF) has been supporting their partners since March to handle a significant increase in traffic at local food pantries, provide food, shelter and supportive services to homeless and trafficked young people and provide support to local veterans who have lost their job as a result of COVID-19.

“Thanks to the leadership of great community-minded companies like Samsung, the NJPRF is better able to meet the tremendous need – donating nearly $18 million to date to over 460 nonprofit organizations in dire need across all 21 New Jersey counties,” – Josh Weinreich, CEO of NJPRF.

California

Silicon Valley Strong has been able to work with other non-profit organizations to distribute close to 100,000 units of PPE to medical professionals across the state, purchase food, supplies and hire additional staff to serve the needs of Californians impacted by COVID-19.

“We can buy more food, packaging supplies, help kids get meals they need, hire temporary staff and help our team stay healthy and safe,” – Second Harvest of Silicon Valley.

North Texas

United Way of Metropolitan Dallas developed a comprehensive community needs assessment to identify and curate the resources that drove the immediate recovery efforts and the long-term rebuilding needs of North Texans.

“Through the Coronavirus Response and Recovery Fund, we continue to support community partners who are providing urgent assistance and resources for North Texans,” – United Way of Metropolitan Dallas.

Central Texas

All Together ATX, a community-led philanthropic fund worked to benefit people in the Greater Austin, TX area with immediate needs including food insecurity, medical needs, employment assistance and childcare as well as providing support to local school districts and food banks.

“Because of the generosity of donors like Samsung, we are able to respond to the greatest needs of our communities during this difficult time,” – Austin Independent School District.

As the impacts from the pandemic continue to be felt across the U.S., we are working with our partners to find additional ways to provide support and assistance. In the coming months, we will be launching two of our most popular fall programs. Month of Service kicks off in October, and gives our employees a chance to give back directly to those in need through in-person and virtual volunteer opportunities. The 11th year of Samsung Solve For Tomorrow (SFT) begins later this year. SFT helps boost interest and proficiency in STEM education and shows students how STEM can be used to improve their local communities.

We will continue to stand strong with our local communities as recovery efforts continue. To our U.S. employees, customers, partners and communities, we are grateful for your loyal support.

We’ll get through this, together.
