Samsung Puts the Spotlight on Hybrid Learning Solutions at ISTE 2020

11/30/2020

Samsung is proud to put the spotlight on hybrid learning solutions at the International Society of Technology in Education’s (ISTE) annual conference. Today, Samsung and Boxlight Corporation a leading provider of interactive technology solutions, are coming together for a panel discussion aimed at helping school districts across the country address the challenge of finding the right technology that not only works with existing infrastructure, but is also easy for educators to learn and use on a daily basis.

Hybrid learning is an adaptable and flexible approach that gives teachers engaging, multifunction display tools for their classroom. The holistic solution developed by Samsung and Boxlight help bridge the gap between in-person and online learning through interactive displays and educational software platforms specifically designed to help students meet their educational goals.

“The education environment is changing rapidly and the demand for digital solutions are at an all-time high as districts across the country address teaching during a global pandemic,” says Chris Mertens, Vice President of US Sales, Displays, Samsung Electronics America. “To address the challenges educators are facing, Samsung offers a complete ecosystem of products and solutions. From interactive, large format displays to outdoor LED, tablets and monitors, Samsung is dedicated to investing in the future of education. We are proud to work with partners like Boxlight to give schools technology that works for them.”

“When schools went remote this spring, we saw an opportunity to use technology to change the way students learn,” says Mark Quiroz, Vice President of Marketing, Display Division, Samsung Electronics America. “No matter the setting, the four main functions of the classroom remain the same: lesson planning, teaching, assessments, and sharing. Samsung’s interactive display technology coupled with Boxlight’s tailored solutions give teachers a way to connect with their students ensuring no child is left behind.”

Interactive Tools that Teach

Samsung’s new 85-inch Interactive Display visually commands the learning space with its wall-filling canvas and 4K UHD resolution. Built for engaging and collaborative learning, the enormous display offers easy annotation and screen mirroring built in.  It can also manage as many as 20 simultaneous touch points when a group of students is hard at work.

The display features an onboard, embedded computer for handling most teaching and interactive tasks. And in demanding circumstances that require more computing power than what’s already onboard, you can use the screen’s Open Pluggable Specification (OPS) slot (in the rear of the display) that can connect to a compatible external PC.

Content creation and sharing are also quick and easy. Beyond serving as a digital collaboration tool, the massive 85-inch screen can function as a multimedia canvas, displaying student’s artwork or visuals of class projects which can then be saved, revisited, and shared. Further, notes and other class materials can be stored and shared to individual students or groups right from the display.

Connected Classrooms

Boxlight’s Blended Learning Platform MimioConnect creates continuous and seamless learning experiences from anywhere combining innovative lesson building and instructional tools to create an active learning environment, working seamlessly with Samsung’s range of school-focused displays.

In blended learning environments, MimioConnect enables:

  • Real-time collaboration between teachers and students on the same document, regardless of location
  • Assignments that can be pushed to students in the classroom or at home with a single click
  • Videoconferencing for face-to-face discussions – building stronger relationships in hybrid classes
  • Engaging learning using tools like polling and interactive questions
  • Analytics on student understanding, using assignment data including overall scores and time spent on tasks
  • Supplement current instruction with lessons developed with critical learning objectives as a foundation

When lessons are presented live, MimioConnect allows students to follow along on their devices while in the classroom and while they’re at home. Educators can foster connected, collaborative experiences by giving students opportunities to share their work with the class.

“Improving student outcomes is the core of what we do. The combined Samsung-Boxlight solution meets the needs for today’s hybrid and remote teaching and learning environments,” said Michael Pope, Boxlight CEO. “The combination of Samsung classroom displays and Boxlight’s blended learning software platform and professional development allow teachers to focus on teaching, encourage students to engage their learning and provide district leaders confidence that their edtech investments make a difference.”

Further, with Boxlight’s MimioMobile app, students can work on MimioStudio activities on their mobile devices and see their ideas shared by their teacher on the display at the front of the class. Students gain more collaborative and cooperative learning, and their teachers gain a better understanding of their learning comprehension and team learning dynamics.
