Samsung 837 transforms into PRIDE PLACE during New York City Pride.

In celebration of Pride Month, Samsung 837 took over New York City’s Meatpacking District to celebrate the intersection of community and culture within the LGTBTQ+ community. The brand’s first-of-its kind technology and cultural destination teamed up with Pride Media and its brands- OUT, The Advocate, PRIDE, Out Traveler, and Chill- to transform into PRIDE PLACE, a five day experiential pop-up during NYC Pride from June 18-22.

Offering a range of daily activities from fitness sessions, screenings, viewing parties, empowerment panels, photo tours and a Live@837 performance by King Princess and Mark Ronson, the open-to-all immersive space served as a haven for the queer community, offering guests exclusive access to the multitude of events.

Kicking off with a Galaxy S9 photo tour of the renowned Stonewall Inn – led by Zara Barrie – guests tested the low light feature of the camera while learning about the iconic history of the space from a veteran bartender who was there to witness the events that took place nearly 50 years ago.

The rest of the week continued with daily mentorship sessions focused on important areas within the LGBTQ+ community, as well as with a Monday afternoon LGBTQ+ Youth Panel, moderated by Brian Anthony Hernandez, which highlighted the various tools available to LGBTQ+ youth.

Moderator Brian Anthony Hernandez discusses relevant topics within the LGBTQ+ Youth Community with panelists Mike Buomaiuto of Shape History, Tate Bensen of GLSEN and Sam Dorinson of Trevor Project.

After a day of engaging discussions, Samsung 837 closed out Monday evening with a fun-filled, LGBTQ+-focused trivia night, hosted by Drag Queen Shequida. Guests participated as teams to vie for the chance to win a pair of Samsung Gear IconX earbuds.

As the week continued on, guests were invited to participate in a makeup masterclass session with inclusive makeup brand Fluide, hosted by Zara Barrie and led by Deja Smith. Complementary samples and touch-up sessions were offered to guests as they received expert tips and tricks from makeup artists on site. Additional programming included a VIP screening and discussion with the filmmakers of Unapologetic Me; an epic comedy night with special guests Lea Delaria, Cola Escola and Stephen Guarino; and a Galaxy Fitness session with Marc Fisher Fitness where guests could interact with the Samsung Gear S3 wearable to help them meet their fitness goals during the class.
