Samsung Makes Donations in Support of Hurricanes Fiona and Ian Relief Efforts

10/26/2022

Samsung Electronics America has announced its support for communities impacted by Hurricane Fiona in Puerto Rico and Hurricane Ian in Florida. The company has organized donations to Team Rubicon, a veteran-led humanitarian organization that serves global communities before, during, and after disaster and crises, Habitat for Humanity of Lee & Hendry Counties, a nonprofit housing organization, and Boys & Girls Club of Lee County, a youth organization providing after-school and summer programs.

Samsung will fuel Team Rubicon’s hurricane relief efforts with a monetary donation, and will support Habitat for Humanity of Lee & Hendry Counties with a product donation consisting of refrigerators, washing machines, and Boys and Girls Club of Lee County with tablets, all of which will assist as communities rebuild homes and learning centers following the massive storms.

“As we reflect on the devastating effects of Hurricanes Fiona and Ian, we are committed to helping these communities get back on their feet,” said Michelle Crossan-Matos, Chief Marketing, Communications and Citizenship Officer at Samsung Electronics America. “We are so appreciative for the work being done by the all of the volunteers assisting in recovery efforts and on behalf of Samsung, we want to say a big thank you for all they are doing to help those who need it most.

Each of the three organizations has been helping rebuild these communities in various ways including clearing debris, improving access to safe housing, providing nutritious meals and providing a safe place for youth while schools were closed. Samsung has a longstanding history with Habitat for Humanity of Lee & Hendry Counties and Boys & Girls Club of Lee County, and is proud to stand with Team Rubicon for the first time as they simultaneously manage responses to both Hurricanes Fiona and Ian.

Samsung’s donations follow the company’s 12th annual Samsung Gives Day of Service, where employees came together to serve communities nationwide, for a total of over 3,000 hours served. The company is committed to creating a positive impact in communities nationwide, and stands with the charitable organizations and volunteers assisting those affected by natural disasters.
