Samsung Care+ is a service plan that offers Accidental Damage Protection designed to shield your Galaxy S24 from the unexpected. You can sign up online or at a Samsung Brand store within 30 days of purchasing your device, and choose between the Standard or Premium Plans. With the Standard Plan, you have the option of a 12 or 24-month package that covers software and hardware repairs, the screen repair, black glass, and battery replacement. You can make one claim within 12 months and the Standard Plan excludes water damage. Payment on a 12-month plan can either be a once-off from R999 or monthly option) from R85 monthly ^[1].

The Premium Plan includes 24 or 36-month plans and allows two claims within two or three years. The plan covers the screen repairs, black glass, battery replacement, mainboard, liquid damage, external casing, software and hardware repairs. You also enjoy additional camera repairs, which is exclusive to the Galaxy S24 series. Payment options include a once-off from R1999, which gives you cover for 24 months, or a monthly premium option from R129. In the event of a claim, a R999 repair fee is applicable.

Samsung Care+ also brings you the peace of mind with low repair fees and should the unwelcome accident occur, your phone will get repaired by authorised technicians using genuine Samsung parts.

We believe our hybrid approach is the most practical and reliable solution to meet all these needs and puts Samsung ahead of the curve. Expanding Possibilities with On-device AI

We made the ‘Live Translate’ feature on-device AI based, because voice calls are the most basic feature of a smartphone, yet also an intimate and private means of communication. Samsung has committed to empowering users to communicate without language barriers, while at the same time ensuring every communication is safe and private.

To make this feature a reality, our R&D team worked day and night as part of a collaborative process that truly brought out the best in our teams. From determining the right size of AI language models, to training and testing in real-life scenarios, our R&D organisations within the MX business challenged themselves and pushed beyond the limits of what we thought was possible to get this feature running entirely on-device.

Samsung’s global R&D networks around the world, which are in charge of growing the best talents and developing core technologies in each region, have also played a pivotal role. Samsung Research Centres around the globe, including Poland, China, India and Vietnam have dedicated themselves to developing and expanding the languages supported by Galaxy AI. Languages are very cultural, contemporary, and localised so to help people break down language barriers and communicate more naturally, the role of our local R&D offices is even more crucial in opening up new possibilities for users in more regions than ever before.

All these efforts have enabled Samsung to offer something completely new which I’m excited to share. Soon, Samsung is extending the power of Galaxy AI beyond Samsung’s own native calling app by expanding Live Translate to other third-party message apps to support voice calls. So you can stay in contact with friends or colleagues, communicating on your favourite apps in multiple languages.

And since this feature has been integrated into our on-device AI language translation model, users will be able to experience barrier-free communication without worrying about privacy issues like personal data being shared outside their phone when using Live Translate.

I expect that more and more mobile AI features will be incorporated inside mobile devices as the intelligent computing power of the latest chips – particularly NPUs – advances at a blazing fast speed, along with other technologies. This will enable more people to embrace AI and make every day more convenient while offering greater peace of mind.

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. today announced the upcoming expansion of three new languages for Galaxy AI: Arabic, Indonesian and Russian, as well as three new dialects: Australian English, Cantonese and Canadian French. In addition to the 13 languages[1] already available, Samsung empowers even more Galaxy users around the world to harness the power of mobile AI. In addition to these new languages and dialects, Samsung plans to add four more languages later this year, including Romanian, Turkish, Dutch and Swedish, as well as the traditional Chinese and European Portuguese.

Galaxy AI Feature Descriptions

• Live Translate produces two-way, real-time voice and text translations of phone calls, making it easier than ever to book reservations while traveling or chat with your grandparents in their native language.
• Interpreter can instantly translate live conversations through a user-friendly split-screen view, allowing people standing opposite each other to read a text translation of what the other person is saying.
• Chat Assist can help perfect conversational tones by generating context-aware suggestions to ensure communication sounds as it was intended, whether it’s a polite message to a coworker or a short catchy phrase for a social media caption.
• Note Assist can create AI-generated summaries, pre-formatted templates and cover pages, elevating your day-to-day productivity.
• Transcript Assist uses AI and Speech-to-Text technology to transcribe, summarize and even translate voice recordings.
• Browsing Assist helps you stay up to speed on what’s happening in the world while saving time by generating concise summaries of news articles or web pages.

Starting in April and rolling out over the upcoming months, the newly supported Galaxy AI languages and dialects will each be available for download as a language pack from the Settings app.

What’s New: Explore Galaxy AI Through Widgets and Tutorials

The updated Try Galaxy app simulates the experience of looking at an actual Galaxy S24 home screen. Once users are in the app, tutorials and interactive content help them navigate the latest interface.

The new widget on the second page of the home screen introduces the core AI-powered features of the Galaxy S24 series and its advanced camera tools. Users can tap each item to watch short demonstration videos explaining the features and how they’re applied in daily life. Check marks appear next to the completed items so users can track their progress.

Below is an overview of the new AI features spotlighted in the widget:

• Live Translate: Communicate without language barriers using the real-time, two-way call translation feature built into the native app. Effortlessly get in touch with a ride-share driver or make a restaurant reservation in a foreign country with voice and text translations of phone calls, supported in 13 languages.[2]

• Note Assist: Take notes as usual, but now receive instant AI-generated summaries to help streamline and organise notes. Turn dense paragraphs into bullet points with headers for easy review. The feature allows for automatic formatting, spell check and translations.

• Chat Assist: Refine the tone of any text message for the occasion, ranging from professional to casual. Send polished meeting agendas to the boss, and chat with international friends in Spanish. The AI built into the Samsung Keyboard can also translate messages in real-time in 13 languages² so that users can communicate better across cultural and language barriers.

• Photo Assist: Get the perfect shot with the help of Generative Edit, an AI tool that allows users to resize, reposition or even remove objects within photos. Tweak the composition of a photo in an instant with Edit Suggestion. Use the Erase Reflection tool to automatically remove unwanted shadows and light reflections.

• Circle to Search with Google: With a circling gesture, search for anything displayed on screen without switching apps. When users spot something they like in a social media post, they can simply long-press the home button and draw a circle around the image to get instant and helpful search results about the coveted item. Depending on the location, generative AI-powered overviews will be provided.

In addition to the AI features, the widget sheds light on the Galaxy S24 series’ advanced camera tools. Through immersive tutorial videos shot from first-person perspective, users can learn how to take clear, bright photos at night from far away using Nightography Zoom, record steady videos of subjects moving at high speed with the Super Steady feature and shoot impressive portraits and selfies in Portrait mode.

Other Updates and Availability
While on the app, users can also check out the new Galaxy Themes or background images beyond Wallpapers, offered on the Galaxy S24 Ultra. As a bonus, three types of Art Wallpapers including graffiti and pop art are available for download.

To learn more about the Galaxy ecosystem, users can swipe through informative cards introducing features such as seamless multi-device connectivity, file-sharing capabilities and body composition data available through Samsung Health. With your finger or Samsung S Pen, you can simply draw a circle around what you’re curious about—in this case, a social media post—and Circle to Search quickly pulls up relevant information, such as details about the exhibition.

For certain searches, this feature also allows you to get AI-powered overviews so you can more easily understand concepts, ideas or topics from helpful information pulled together from across the web. In this way, well ahead of your travels, AI adds a new dimension of preparation, helping you follow your curiosity with confidence.

So you’ve picked a destination on your bucket list, Paris (France), travelled and landed safely. Settling into your hotel, you’re keen to meet people and get all the hot tips on where to eat and what to see. But while the trip is an exciting experience, it can be overwhelming if you don’t speak Francais. In the hotel’s lounge area, you use Galaxy S24’s Interpreter feature to sidestep the language differences and converse with the locals in real time and in person, asking them for site-seeing recommendations with a local spin. On one side of the screen is the translated audio text of the person you’re speaking to, and on the other side is your part of the conversation translated for them.

Having made plans to meet up with some acquaintances later for dinner, you use Chat Assist’s Message Translate feature to stay in touch throughout the day and time your rendezvous perfectly. By combining Message Translate with Chat Assist’s Writing Style tool, you can automatically adjust your messages to make sure you’re using a friendly tone instead of an unintentionally stilted, formal one.

Galaxy S24 is the first phone to offer real-time, two-way call translation within its native call app. When you phone the ticket office, the call app offers you an option to launch Live Translate, which provides both text and audio translations instantly.

The feature also works for the person on the other end of the line, regardless of whether they’re using a Galaxy device, allowing you to rebook your ticket as easily as you would at home and head out for a day full of art and culture.

Before long, you’re enjoying one last piece of French chocolate at Charles de Gaulle Airport, reflecting on your all-too-brief weekend in the City of Lights.

You want to send your acquaintances a group photo of you all in front of the Eiffel Tower, but the well-meaning passer-by who took it got the composition slightly wrong. The Eiffel Tower is tilting at an angle, and your group is off to the right instead of in the centre. With Generative Edit, you can go beyond the boundaries of photography and correct these issues in a couple of taps.

As an engineer, I have witnessed many examples of incredible innovations, but AI is the most transformative technology of the century. The feature can also extract and summarise text straight from physical books and papers and can translate notes into other languages, while its Browsing Assist capabilities can turn long, detailed articles into succinct summaries.

Accurately document everything: It’s a classic dilemma: You’re in an important work meeting, and you need to take detailed notes while at the same time staying focused and making contributions. With Galaxy S24, you can have it both ways.

Transcript Assist creates full, accurate records of meetings and conversations. Simply record the meeting using the native Samsung voice recording app, and afterwards Transcript Assist will offer to convert it to text, with sentences separated according to individual speakers. Once you’ve got your transcript, you can share it with your colleagues as is, or send it to Samsung Notes and add an AI-generated bullet summary to it using Note Assist.
