Awarded 75 trophies across nine categories ranging from Product Design to User Experience — for TVs, home appliances, smartphones and other devices

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. today announced that it received a total of 75 awards at the International Forum (iF) Design Awards 2024, a prestigious German international design competition. Included among the honors were two Gold Awards for Samsung OLED TV (S95C) and the packaging of the Galaxy Z Flip5 Maison Margiela Edition.

Founded in 1953 as Die Gute Industrieform e.V., the iF Design Awards evaluates a comprehensive range of factors, including differentiation and impact, across a total of nine categories: Product Design, Packaging Design, Communication Design, Interior Architecture, Professional Concept, Service Design, Architecture, User Experience (UX) and User Interface (UI).

“The design of consumer electronics plays a critical role in how users experience these products, and these awards signify the continual progress Samsung has made in this area,” said TM Roh, President and Head of the Corporate Design Center at Samsung Electronics. “While we continue to prioritize design that is essential and faithful to the purpose of the product, moving forward, we will harmonize with consumers’ changing lifestyles and elevate their experiences through sustained design innovation.”

Gold Awards for Two Innovative Products

The OLED TV (S95C) brings an ultra-slim thickness of 11mm, which minimizes the gap when installing the TV, thereby allowing it to be closely attached to the wall. This enhances the quality of the space while maximizing users’ immersive audio-visual experiences with the applied Dolby Atmos, which provides realistic, three-dimensional sound.

The Galaxy Z Flip5 Maison Margiela Edition packaging reflects Maison Margiela’s unfinished style by utilizing a distinct stitching pattern in the center of the flap. The whole body of the packaging resembles the type of archival sample box used in artisanal shops to store various fabric samples and threads. Additionally, the paper-based woven book cloth fabric covering the package’s exterior seamlessly blends the device with the haute couture aesthetic of Maison Margiela’s atelier.

 75 Awards Ranging From TVs to Home Appliances to Smartphones

Other products and services that were recognized for design excellence include Samsung Now+, Q Symphony and the Design Samsung Website. Samsung Now+ displays useful information such as the weather or a live home security camera feed without the TV even being turned on; Q Symphony maximizes immersive experiences by using AI sound technology to analyze consumers’ viewing spaces; and the newest version of the Design Samsung Website has an enhanced mobile experience and user-friendly interface.

Samsung Electronics announced that it received a total of 80 awards at the International Forum (iF) Design Awards 2023, a prestigious German international design competition. Included among the honours was a Gold Award for Samsung’s Bespoke Infinite Line refrigerator and kitchen appliances.[1]

Founded in 1953 as Die Gute Industrieform e.V., the iF Design Award conducts comprehensive evaluations of factors including differentiation and impact across a total of nine categories: Product, Packaging, Communication, Professional Concept, Interior Architecture, Architecture, Service Design, User Experience (UX), and User Interface (UI).

Gold Award Recognises Design That Offers Customised Experiences for Different Lifestyles

The Bespoke Infinite Line is a premium built-in look refrigerator that is available in a choice of fridge, freezer or wine cellar models and features a timelessly contemporary modular design that seamlessly blends into any interior[2]. With simple lines, high-quality natural materials and features that maximise convenience and streamline food storage, the Bespoke Infinite Line adds lasting value to consumers’ kitchens.

The refrigerator’s exterior is made from premium aluminium that is more dent- and scratch-resistant and allows marks and stains to be easily wiped away. The interior is bright and refined with its Black Metal Cooling and Tunnel Lighting — two features that epitomise the refrigerator’s elegant balance of form and function.

Total of 80 Awards, From Product to UX Design, Including TVs, Home Appliances and Smartphones

Samsung Electronics’ 80 wins across all design categories, including Product and UX, were the most of any nominee at this year’s awards.

In addition to the Bespoke Infinite Line’s Gold Award, Samsung received awards in the Product category for the Odyssey Ark, the 55-inch 1000R curved gaming screen; the Bespoke Jet, a cordless stick vacuum with an all-in-one Clean Station; and the Galaxy Z Flip4 Bespoke edition, a smartphone that offers an exclusive customisation experience by allowing users to design a device that is uniquely theirs.

Samsung’s accessibility-enhanced TV UX, which includes an avatar-based Sign Language Guide that provides explanations of TV menus in sign language, and Samsung Space Tycoon, a virtual space and management simulation game on the Roblox metaverse platform where users can create and play games and share experiences using Samsung products, were also recognised for design excellence.

This year Samsung received the most awards out of 11,000 submissions from 57 countries.

Three Gold Award Winning Products Recognized for Designs That Offer Customised Experiences to Different Lifestyles

The Freestyle is a portable screen that can display as large as 254cm in diagonal length depending on the environment where it is used, be it on the wall, the ceiling or the floor as it rotates 180 degrees.

Thanks to its lightweight and minimal design, The Freestyle is highly portable, allowing the user to hold it in one hand, and can be used with ease both indoors and outside such as on camping sites. Depending on each individual lifestyle, it can also be used as a Bluetooth speaker or as an ambient lamp that can glow light in various colours.

The Galaxy Z Flip3 was honoured for its iconic and compact design, that comes with premium features and exclusive foldable experiences, providing a truly personalised smartphone experience. With Galaxy Z Flip3’s unique form factor, users are able to enjoy the full smartphone experience when unfolded and pocketable design when folded in half. Not only is the design refined by providing a large Cover Screen, but it also maximises the usability by allowing users to view notifications and capture a quick photo even when folded.

Total of 71 Awards, From Product to UX design, Including TVs, Home appliances and Smartphones

With its designs being recognised in all categories at the iF Design Award 2022 including Product and User Interface (UI), Samsung Electronics won the most number of awards totalling 71.

In addition to the three Gold Awards, the Neo QLED 8K, the Bespoke Refrigerator, and the Galaxy Buds2 also won awards in the Product category.  The One UI 4, new interface of Galaxy smartphones that enables users to customise their devices, and the Galaxy Upcycling at Home, which allows users to build a smart home by recycling unused Galaxy phones into Home IoT devices were also recognised for the design excellence.

Organised by the iF International Forum Design GmbH, the iF Design Award contest started in Germany in 1953. Product submissions are based on a comprehensive evaluation of design, material suitability, innovativeness and seven additional categories including product, packaging, communication and professional concept.

This year’s achievement of 55 awards, including the gold award for the Modernist Column Refrigerator, CHG90 QLED gaming monitor, the Odyssey gaming PC set and Samsung Power, is Samsung’s greatest yet, since first participating in the iF Design Award in 1996. Samsung has now won more prizes than any other company in the last three years of the iF Design Award.

The Modernist Column Refrigerator is a super-premium built-in column-type refrigerator leading change in modern design in the U.S. built-in market. It features 3DLighting, which illuminates the elegant all-stainless-steel interiors and intuitive functions such as the dual door-mounted cameras, Push-To-Open Door assist and waist-high Hidden Touch Control Panel. An internal water dispenser provides fresh filtered water, while Dual Icemakers serve both traditional and Cocktail Ice. Precise Cooling technology with two evaporators also ensures the freshest ingredients.

The CHG90 QLED gaming monitor, a super ultra-wide 49-inch 32:9 screen with 1800R curvature, is equivalent to two 16:9 monitors side by side, generates an exceptionally engaging gaming experience.
