History repeats a pattern. The breakthroughs that change everything are rarely the most powerful inventions. They are the moments those inventions reach into daily life. Electricity changed society not with power plants, but when a switch appeared in homes. The internet became ours through the browser. The phone became powerful through the ecosystem of apps that grew on top of it.

AI will be no different.

Where AI Meets People

AI is getting smarter faster, and this will continue. But to change how people live, it must answer: where, how and into whose hands does this intelligence reach? This will define AI’s next chapter.

AI no longer merely answers. It is entering an agentic age, taking action on our behalf while the person carries the final decision. But to act for someone, it must first know them.

That is why it matters where AI meets people. The entry points are where AI understands a person and builds trust. The best AI experiences will come from the devices that know the user best.

This is what Samsung has spent years building. The phone is closest to us, with us daily. The tablet is where we create and learn. The watch reads signals like sleep and heart rate. The TV and connected home appliances add context from where we live. And new form factors, from foldables to intelligent eyewear, expand where AI meets us. Together, a fuller picture of a person’s needs forms.

These entry points are powerful together. Signals from across devices become timely assistance: sleep tracked by your watch shapes tomorrow’s schedule, with information always available. AI at its best works quietly in the background, bringing these moments into a cohesive experience. That is why we have spent years building an ecosystem not just to reach, but to connect more moments.

Built on Openness and Trust

Samsung does not do this alone. The platforms that changed the world were the most open. The web was. So were mobile operating systems. With SmartThings, we brought devices, services and partners into one connected experience, shaping industry open standards. Openness lets the best ideas reach people faster. And we don’t simply layer intelligence on top, but design how AI works at the center so it serves each person in context.

But openness alone is not the goal. The harder task is turning intelligence into something personal and trustworthy. The best intelligence in the world should reach people through their everyday devices. But what makes it personal is understanding the user and keeping that understanding safe. That is our responsibility.

As AI becomes more personal and agentic, trust becomes the foundation. People need to know what AI is doing for them and remain in control.

This is why trust isn’t added at the end. Samsung Knox protects each Galaxy device and now the connections between them. As intelligence moves across devices, protecting what flows between them is crucial. The most personal data stays on the device so people can understand how AI is working and remain in control.

The Next Chapter of Galaxy

That same understanding shapes the devices we build. The more personal and capable AI becomes, the more form matters. As AI helps us with more at once, a screen that flexes and folds expands what is possible. This is what makes foldables special: they fold into your hand or open a larger stage. On this journey, Samsung has continued to make foldables thinner, lighter, stronger and more immersive.

AI is also essential in health. How we sleep, recover and look after ourselves—daily choices add up. A device close to us, like a watch, tracks these signals ensuring a better day.

The upcoming Galaxy Unpacked is where we will show what’s next in bringing all this together: more personal, natural AI experiences on a foundation more partners can build on. The question that opens the next era is not who has the smartest AI, but who understands people best, and turns that understanding into experiences they can trust.

We intend to take this path with openness and responsibility, beginning with the device already in your hand. We open this next chapter together at Galaxy Unpacked.

On July 22, Samsung will host Unpacked in London, U.K. Join us as we unveil the next chapter of Galaxy innovation.

The event will be streamed live on Samsung.com, Samsung Newsroom and Samsung’s YouTube channel beginning at 11pm AEST and 2 p.m. BST.

Entertainment is no longer confined to a single place. Today’s viewing journeys unfold across different screens, moments and contexts.

A show may begin with a clip, a trailer shared in a group chat, or a recommendation that arrives mid-scroll. This is not fragmentation. It is how modern viewing works. The more interesting question is not how many screens we use, but what each screen does best, and why despite the plethora of display options made available to consumers, the TV continues to hold a special place in how people experience entertainment at home.

According to Samsung’s 2025 Southeast Asia and Oceania (SEAO) TV Awareness Survey[1], 65% of the region’s consumers watch TV daily. It’s clear that even as viewing journeys happen across more screens, TV remains part of the everyday rhythm in many households.

From Discovery to Presence

Mobile plays an important role in the viewing journey. It is always within reach, making it suitable for discovery, quick viewing, social sharing, and entertainment on the go.

At the same time, some viewing moments are especially suited for the big screen as TV brings scale, comfort and shared presence to entertainment experiences at home.

For instance, watching a live sports match on the big screen can bring the excitement from the stadium into living rooms. With features like AI Soccer Mode[2], sound and picture are optimised so viewers can enjoy every single bit of the gameday action from the comfort of their homes. This is why close to 40% of SEAO Smart TV users mirror, cast or stream from their phone to the TV1, showing how consumers value the flexibility of mobile viewing while appreciating the big screen experience.

Rather than choosing between screens, consumers are moving fluidly across them. Mobile devices offer mobility and immediacy, while TV brings scale, comfort, and presence.

A Smarter Way to Navigate Entertainment

Modern viewing no longer begins only when someone turns on the TV. It often starts elsewhere, before making its way there. The role of the Smart TV is to make that transition feel seamless, intuitive and coherent.

That is why the interface matters as much as the display. Viewers should be able to move easily between entertainment, apps and experiences.

Samsung’s One UI Tizen[3] reflects this shift by making everyday entertainment smoother to navigate. Viewers can easily access apps, customise the home screen, stream content, and enjoy gaming through built-in smart features, creating a TV experience that feels intuitive, personal and connected. With up to seven years of OS upgrades[4], our TVs are kept up to date with security enhancements and performance improvements.

Furthermore, Samsung Smart TVs support the way people move between screens. They allow users to conveniently mirror mobile content on the TV, use Multi View to watch TV and mobile content at the same time, display personal photos, and use the phone as a remote control.

Where the Moment Comes to Life

Once the journey reaches the TV, the screen determines how the moment lands. This is where pictures, sound and intelligence work together.

Features[5] such as Glare Free, HDR10+, and Object Tracking Sound+ (OTS+) help shape how entertainment feels on the big screen. For instance, whether with daylight or indoor lighting, our certified Glare-free technology reduces reflections, so that viewing experiences stay clear and comfortable. Meanwhile, HDR10+ uncovers delicate details across deep shadows to vibrant highlights, bringing greater dimension and immersion to each scene. Additionally, OTS+ helps sound follow on-screen movement for a more immersive audio experience.

Samsung Vision AI[6] adds another layer by enabling the TV experience to adapt more intelligently to content and environment. Through AI Customisation Mode, AI Optimised Mode and AI Sound Controller, the TV can enhance visual detail, fine-tune audio and adjust settings to better match what viewers are watching and where they are watching it.

As a result, films feel cinematic, with light, shadow and colour carrying depth. Live matches feel immediate, as motion and sound bring the room closer to the action. Gaming feels immersive when the screen keeps pace with every moment. At its best, TV quietly enhances the experience, helping viewers stay immersed in the content and the moment.

On Samsung 2026 TV models[7] supporting Vision AI Companion[8], users can easily pull up related information and content recommendations, activate AI-powered picture and sound enhancements, and access AI apps and features directly on the TV with a click of the AI button or long-press of the Home button on the remote control.

The journey does not have to end when viewing stops. Samsung’s The Frame extends the role of TV beyond entertainment by allowing the screen to remain an integral part of the room when not in use.

The Frame can display renowned pieces that transform the screen into a personal gallery, reflecting individual tastes and complementing the style of the home. Through the Samsung Art Store[9], users can access more than 5,000 selections from world-famous artists and institutions, with collections that continue to evolve and expand across different genres and themes.

Recent collaborations include the partnership with the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, which bring celebrated works by artists such as Diego Rivera and Piet Mondrian into the home. The Art Basel Hong Kong 2026 Collection also features works from emerging and established contemporary artists, imbuing the energy and creativity of their work into everyday living spaces.

This makes The Frame more than a screen for watching content. It becomes part of how people shape their spaces and appreciate art as another form of everyday entertainment.

The Right Screen for the Right Moment

The modern viewing journey does not depend on one screen doing everything. It is contingent on each screen playing its role at the right moment. Mobile helps the journey begin through discovery, immediacy and spontaneous moments. TV is where that journey becomes more focused, immersive and present.

In the multi-screen era, the TV complements the way we use devices. It gives entertainment a place to land and its presence can elevate a space. The journey may start anywhere and the big screen is where it all comes together.

Innovation is often measured by what we can see – larger screens, thinner frames, or more vibrant displays. However, the most profound shifts occur when the technology itself begins to disappear.

We are stepping into an era where technology should feel like an extension of intent rather than a tool we must learn and manage. In short, we are moving away from digital complexity towards everyday convenience.

For over a decade, the smartphone experience has been defined by touch-based navigation. People all over the world have become accustomed to tapping on screens and managing fragmented applications to complete simple tasks. For this era to close, mobile experiences must become more proactive and adaptive, understanding context and providing assistance the moment it is needed.

With the all-new Galaxy S26 series, the next chapter begins here. The path forward is not about adding more apps, but instead about creating an invisible architecture that enables easier daily living.

SEAO is Primed for an AI Revolution

Southeast Asia and Oceania (SEAO) represents one of the most dynamic, mobile-first digital economies in the world. Google’s recent e-Conomy SEA 2025 report[1] highlights a powerful base of 200 million new users that have come online over the last decade across Southeast Asia. With three in five people now shopping online, and over 60% of all payments being made digitally, the region’s digital fluency has driven a surge in interest towards artificial intelligence (AI), at three times the global average.

This momentum is equally profound across Oceania, where AI has moved rapidly from a concept to a core business driver. In New Zealand, a significant 91% of businesses report efficiency improvements from AI, with half also citing positive financial impact[2]. Australian businesses are mirroring this shift as well; with 40% of SMEs currently adopting AI[3] and agreeing that AI offers a competitive edge and compelling use cases that can transform their operations.

The launch of the Galaxy S24 series two years ago marked the transition from smartphone to a new era of AI phones. Today, for the millions across the diverse SEAO region — from hyper-connected urban hubs to rapidly developing tech frontiers — the phone has become more than a tool, and instead the primary platform for navigating life.

As our region accelerates its adoption of AI, true advancement is achieved when everyday use is powered by seamless anticipation of needs. For instance, the Galaxy S26 Ultra features Samsung’s most intuitive and user-friendly AI experience to date. Features like Now Nudge[4] provide proactive and relevant context-aware suggestions, while Now Brief[5] surfaces timely reminders for important events. The reliable delivery of these experiences requires a foundation of customised hardware, such as the Snapdragon® 8 Elite Gen 5[6], which is designed for high-speed on-device performance on the Galaxy S26 Ultra. Sitting quietly beneath the interface, this hardware orchestrates how intelligence understands context to enable intuitive workflows.

The Power of Open Intelligence

To harness these advancements without forcing people to learn entirely new interfaces, technology demands a deeply integrated approach. We understand that customers prefer having a choice in the tools they use, so Galaxy S26 Ultra also comes with a choice of agents[7] to help users complete tasks more easily with a single button press or voice prompt. As we see it, the future lies in an open ecosystem of AI-powered features that users can embrace with confidence—knowing their personal data is secure while enjoying the benefits of a multi-agent experience that is backed by Samsung’s commitment to collaborative protection.

Crucially, this AI transformation cannot be reserved for a select few. We are committed to the democratisation of mobile AI, targeting an expansion to over 800 million users globally in 2026. True progress is only achieved when advanced capabilities reach the masses, ensuring broad availability to all.

Trust as the Foundation

With increased power comes a heightened need for trust. As both consumers and organisations scale their AI usage, a multi-agent approach must be built on the principle that access to personal information is strictly limited to the specific task at hand. AI experiences on Galaxy are protected at every level, with personalisation, transparency, and user choice guiding every step.

Security is not merely a feature, but a foundational element of our AI infrastructure that users can customise through granular privacy settings, opt-in security features, and intuitive dashboards designed to enable true control and transparency. For instance, the Privacy Display[8] on the Galaxy S26 Ultra introduces a new form of personal protection. Integrated directly into the display hardware, it controls how the screen’s pixels disperse light, limiting visibility from side, top, and bottom angles when activated so users can preserve privacy when needed.

Meanwhile, Samsung Knox helps keep personal data protected on the device and is shared only when required. On the Galaxy S26 series, the Personal Data Engine (PDE) enables context-aware AI experiences by processing data locally. To keep this process safe, Knox Enhanced Encrypted Protection (KEEP) encrypts the data of each app. Furthermore, Knox Vault adds a physical layer of protection by isolating sensitive data inside its own secure hardware. This system-wide approach combines hardware and software to help keep personal information protected.

By equipping our flagship devices with up to seven generations of Android OS and One UI upgrades[9], along with seven years of security updates, we provide consumers with the confidence that their hardware investments will remain secure over time.

The Blueprint for an Intelligent Future

The diverse and rapidly growing digital economies of the SEAO region have created an ideal environment for AI adoption and growth. The launch of our latest flagship line-up is more than an iterative hardware update; it is the deployment of mobile infrastructure required to meet this moment.

At The First Look during CES 2026, we moved beyond the traditional roadmap of hardware iterations to unveil a broader strategic vision: “Your Companion to AI Living.” This vision combines both hardware and visual intelligence to deliver an entertainment experience across our TVs, monitors, and audio ecosystem that anticipates users’ needs and preferences in how they consume their preferred entertainment.

As the world’s leading TV brand for 19 consecutive years[1], we recognise that our leadership is no longer defined solely by the screens we produce, but by how effectively we integrate them into the lives of our consumers.

In the Southeast Asia and Oceania (SEAO) region, this shift is particularly critical. According to the latest e-Conomy SEA report by Google, Temasek, and Bain & Company, consumer interest in AI in Southeast Asia is three times the global average[2]. This heightened receptivity to innovation informs our 2026 strategy, driving a push towards a proactive, multi-agent experience.

From Tactical Usage to Intuitive Environments

With the rapid maturation of the digital economy across the SEAO region, our 2025 TV Awareness Study[3] shows that 88% of consumers surveyed in SEAO now use a smart TV as their primary screen. This tells us that modern consumers are no longer looking for a passive display device; they want an intelligent Entertainment Companion – a device that understands context.

As daily life becomes increasingly complex, the value proposition of technology must shift from manual utility to proactive assistance. At the core is Vision AI Companion (VAC)[4], designed to make television more intuitive, conversational and personalised. Simply ask a question[5] while you’re watching the TV about a sports event, or even travel suggestions and Vision AI Companion will deliver an answer near instantly, accompanied by helpful visuals and related content. Questions might include asking VAC to recommend what to wear based on trending clothing styles, or to find you an ideal brunch spot nearby. Alongside SmartThings[6] as the underlying architecture, the screen becomes a central command hub, orchestrating the home from climate control to household management. This is technology that simplifies life rather than adding to its cognitive load.

Defining the Premium Experience: Sight and Sound

The bar for home cinema has shifted towards premium, ultra-large screen experiences designed for zero compromise. In SEAO, 68% of consumers surveyed prioritise high-end, cinematic experiences at home3. We are meeting this demand by scaling our ultra-large screen offerings and introducing the world’s first 130-inch Micro RGB TV[7] (R95H model), marking a big step in display innovation and ultra-realistic picture quality.[8] The core LED light source is redesigned and re-engineered,[9] delivering exceptional colour performance on top of great brightness and contrast.

True immersion is a multi-sensory business. We pair our display expertise with 12 years of audio excellence[10] to transform the home audio experience, creating a unified acoustic environment. In 2026, Q-Symphony[11] evolves select TVs and speakers into an adaptive ecosystem that intelligently optimises sound based on each room’s unique layout[12].

This intelligence extends beyond entertainment to the battle station for gamers. Leading the Odyssey gaming monitor lineup is the 32-inch Odyssey 3D (G90XH model), Samsung’s first 6K glasses-free 3D[13] gaming monitor that pushes the boundaries of resolution and refresh rates,[14] ensuring a visual experience that is as seamless as it is immersive.

Elevating Home Expression Through Art and Content

Technology is most impactful when it enhances how we live and what we watch. In today’s vibrant and diverse consumer landscape, the visual display is not only a source of entertainment, but also a canvas for personal expression, supported by a growing ecosystem of content that enriches the home experience.

This year, we are bridging the gap between premium technology and home aesthetics through The Frame Pro. By utilising our advanced Glare-Free display technology[15] and access to curated art via the Samsung Art Store[16], the screen complements a room’s atmosphere rather than dominating it. It enables users to showcase their heritage and tastes, transforming a high-performance device into a centrepiece of artistic expression.

Samsung TV Plus, our free ad-supported streaming (FAST) service, has also surpassed 100 million monthly active users (MAU) in 30 countries worldwide[17], marking a 12 million increase in users since October 2024, further redefining entertainment for consumers with Samsung TVs leading the global TV market.

Inspiring the Next Two Decades of Innovation

At Samsung, our commitment is to ensure that technology is no longer something you must learn, but something that understands you. Through “Your Companion to AI Living,” we are evolving the visual display from the centre of the room to the heart of the home.

We are not just selling hardware; we are building the infrastructure for a more intuitive way of living. By aligning our global innovation with the unique digital appetite of the SEAO region, we are ensuring that the next era of home entertainment isn’t just about better pixels, but about being a better companion in your daily life.

Today’s world is full of unprecedented innovations and rapidly evolving technologies. It’s an era of endless possibilities, coupled with a new set of risks for security and privacy. At Samsung Electronics, we recognise that as we enter these uncharted territories, we must be prepared for the ever-changing security landscape and champion a dynamic approach to enterprise security.

The cybersecurity threats of today affect everyone, from consumers to businesses. Enterprise device fleets must be resilient— from suspicious URLs, insider employee threats and malware, to emerging risks associated with AI usage in the workplace, including sensitive data leaks. As a growing number of employees across industries — from corporate offices to the frontlines — use devices to access enterprise networks and resources, there are increased security risks that may also lead to a substantial financial toll on businesses.

Enterprise security incidents can arise across operations. However, the International Data Corporation (IDC)[1] found that an overwhelming 70 percent of successful breaches originate from endpoints — the devices that connect to networks like phones, laptops and tablets. Unfortunately, in today’s security operations landscape, IT administrators have much less visibility into mobile devices compared to PCs and servers. With mobile devices now being the most common method of employee network access, this has to change. A systematic, comprehensive approach is critical to ensuring seamless mobile capabilities and a enhanced way of protection. At Samsung, we’re setting a new standard for mobile enterprise security by committing to a collaborative Zero Trust strategy for endpoints in partnership with market leaders.

Core Principles for Endpoint Security

Samsung’s legacy of innovation is built upon our deep understanding of users. We’re constantly listening to feedback from consumers and businesses, anticipating the evolution of mobile technology. This is what enables us to develop industry-first solutions for consumers and businesses alike. As the Head of the Global Mobile B2B Team, I’m especially proud of how we’ve led the way in critical areas that deliver value to enterprises across the board. From advancing hardware-backed device attestation and threat detection to fully embracing the security principles, we are constantly striving to provide our customers with mobile devices and solutions that exceed their security requirements.

Zero Trust is a security framework that continuously assesses security, risk and trust levels based on context. The current security solutions market is dominated by network-centric Zero Trust solutions that focus on securing access at the network edge. Unfortunately, this approach by itself neglects a critical blind spot: the endpoint. Endpoints have the largest attack surface and are the most challenging IT assets to protect against cyberattacks. In most cases, they are the most vulnerable points in an organization’s IT ecosystem.

Zero Trust principles for endpoints, when realised correctly, ensure that access requests from endpoints are handled based on context that correlates with the device’s security and the user’s needs, and are continuously verified in real time. Although there is no definitive list of core principles behind Zero Trust endpoint protection, the following principles are the most commonly adopted:

“Never trust, always verify” approach for devices: Devices should no longer be implicitly trusted just because they are within the network boundary. Instead, each device needs to be verified prior to being granted access.

Continuous risk assessment and enforcement: Endpoint protection must be agile and ready to adapt to constantly changing risk conditions. This means continuously evaluating context — such as location, time of access and the device’s security— and adjusting security policies accordingly. Suspicious activity needs to be addressed through enforcement actions such as access restrictions or complete isolation.

Restricted privileges and narrowly scoped access: Endpoints must enforce access control in real time based on context while ensuring privileges are granted dynamically with a narrow scope.

Incorporation of user identity, device security and behavioral signals: A Zero Trust-compliant solution needs to make granular and informed trust decisions to enforce tight access controls. To enable such decisions, Zero Trust’s continuous evaluation of context integrates user identity, device security and behavioral signals.

While the Zero Trust security strategy is growing in adoption, Samsung is fully embracing it. By doing so, we are helping to protect the most vulnerable points in an organisation’s IT landscape. Risks related to endpoint security are constantly increasing as cloud-based applications, Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) programs and remote work prevail in the modern workplace environment. Samsung recognises the critical nature of this problem and is proactively addressing it in collaboration with partners.

Innovation and Collaboration for Security at Every Level

How does this work in practice? From the hardware level and all the way to the operating system and security interface, Zero Trust security principles are built into the architecture of Samsung Galaxy devices, enhancing protection at every layer while intuitively integrating with a business’s existing security infrastructure. Together, these practices empower enterprises to administer security threat detection and provide more reliable responses.

At Samsung, we recognise that security is a collective effort. It is only through open collaboration with partners that we can bring the most advanced solutions to our customers. In my time at Samsung, we’ve made extensive strides in bringing forth versatile, optimised and secure solutions[2] for enterprises of all kinds.

In 2024, we integrated Samsung Knox[3] — our multilayer security management platform — with Cisco Secure Access, an innovative Security Service Edge solution. This collaboration delivers a secure and flexible employee access experience, enabling organisations to verify user identity, device security and context before granting access.

We also have a strong partnership with Microsoft, defined by a shared vision of reimagining mobile device security for business customers. The first step of this strategic plan began in 2023, when we integrated Samsung Knox with Microsoft Intune, creating an on-device mobile hardware-backed device = solution that works equally well on both company and personal devices. This solution is now enabled by default in all new Android App Protection Policies, empowering organisations to bolster the security of all Samsung devices in their fleet. In yet another step forward in our partnership with Microsoft, Samsung offers a direct-to-security operations center (SOC) connector. This was achieved through the integration of Knox Asset Intelligence and Microsoft Sentinel[4], a scalable, cloud-native security information and event management (SIEM) solution. This integration delivers unprecedented visibility into mobile security threats, providing centralised monitoring and protection across enterprise device fleets.

Working together with partners, Samsung is addressing key challenges in multiple areas — securing mobile devices, minimising damage from potential cyber threats and empowering employees to work efficiently and effectively, reducing concerns for security.

Holistic Security for Enhanced Privacy

We’re constantly innovating, refining and developing Samsung Knox solutions in order to bring our customers enhanced control, greater transparency and better protection against cyber threats.

By embodying Zero Trust as a core pillar of Samsung Knox, every measure is being taken to help secure mobile devices and data.

As threats become increasingly complex with AI and hyperconnectivity taking center stage, security and privacy are more important now than ever before. Today’s business landscape is constantly being threatened by an increasing volume of cyberattacks that aim to exploit IT vulnerabilities, with mobile devices and other endpoints quickly becoming prime targets.

That’s why Samsung is working with market-leading companies to provide security solutions that work seamlessly with existing infrastructure, offering increased end-to-end protection. These collaborative solutions are a testament to our commitment to not only adhere to industry standards but to also drive their continued development when it comes to Zero Trust endpoint security. This is just the beginning.

Protecting our personal sanctuary and our belongings are second nature. This is why we check our locks, close our windows, and invest in gates. Today, however, the modern connected home has dozens of invisible, digital entryways: From smart TVs and refrigerators, to robot vacuums, speakers, and more. While these bring convenience in a new era of intelligent living, they also represent potential vulnerabilities from within.

This shift has not been lost on consumers in Southeast Asia and Oceania (SEAO). In fact, reports are finding that data privacy and security are key purchasing considerations for consumers in markets like Australia[1], Indonesia[2], and Singapore[3]. This sentiment is echoed in; a recent global Samsung survey found that respondents expect AI-driven security features to protect their homes and ensure their families’ safety, with “Security / safe” frequently cited as key criteria for AI home appliances[4].

With our increasingly connected lives, the very concept of home security needs a critical rethink. Having peace of mind now depends on safeguarding our digital lives with the same rigor that we apply to our physical ones. Unlike physical break-ins that usually leave visible signs, a digital intrusion is often invisible. The target is not your television set, but your personal data, your family’s routines, and your privacy.

A cybersecurity breach can extend far beyond your front door. Poorly protected devices can face malware risks, with attacks that potentially disrupt their features, give hackers access to device cameras, enable theft of data, and more.

For the modern consumer, the challenge of managing the security settings of their various home appliances has intensified, especially as they embrace more smart devices. This creates the need for a holistic, built-in solution that works seamlessly in the background, offering robust protection without requiring constant user intervention. Without the right safeguards in place, consumers could find themselves vulnerable to privacy breaches – just imagine a robot vacuum’s camera recording footage of house interiors without authorisation and revealing when a home is empty, or a compromised appliance revealing sensitive personal information like passwords and biometric data.

Security by Design, Our Layered Approach

At Samsung, our goal is to deliver trusted and personalised experiences through security solutions that aim to help protect your different connected devices and appliances. From on-device features like Knox Vault, to the Knox Matrix which enables ecosystem-wide protection, Samsung aims to provide you with ease, convenience, and care.

Samsung Knox is a comprehensive, multi-layered security platform that is designed to act as an invisible shield for the entire ecosystem of Samsung devices, with Knox Vault[5] and Knox Matrix[6] being key innovations within that platform.

Think of Knox Vault as a physical, safe built directly into the hardware of our devices. This is where data like cryptographic keys and digital certificates are stored, isolated from the main system. Across our screen-equipped home appliances, we’ve also integrated the Passkey[7] feature – a digital credential that allows users to log in to home appliance apps and websites[8] using biometrics such as fingerprints.

Connectivity within the Samsung ecosystem likewise helps to safeguard against threats when they go undetected. Samsung’s Knox Matrix creates a trusted, network that turns a smart home into a “smart shield,”. where more connected devices mean stronger overall security. The Trust Chain in particular — which is a part of Knox Matrix — is managed on a private blockchain, enabling devices to monitor each other for threats

Earning Consumer Trust Through a Legacy of Action

Our commitment to security is not a recent reaction to market trends, but a long-standing commitment to our customers. Samsung is an innovator in digital security, leveraging our global expertise from the highly secure mobile industry and applying it across our entire product portfolio.

Our commitment is validated by leading independent organisations. For example, the Bespoke AI Jet Bot Steam, Bespoke Jet Bot Combo, and Bespoke AI Refrigerators have received IoT security certifications from TÜV Nord based on the ETSI EN 303 645 standard which defines security and privacy requirements across the lifecycle of consumer IoT devices[9].

As AI and connectivity make our homes more intuitive and helpful, the foundation of trust becomes more critical. Our goal is to deliver a smart home experience that is as secure as it is seamless.

To ensure this trust endures, we are already preparing for future threats. Samsung is actively researching Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC)[10], developing new security solutions to help our devices remain secure against potential quantum computing threats of tomorrow, helping to safeguard our products over their long lifecycles.

While our customers focus on locking their front door, they can have absolute confidence that Samsung is tirelessly securing every digital one. Our vision is clear: it’s not just about smarter living; it’s about safer living.

The rapid rise and popularity of AI technology has had many companies racing to jump on the wagon. Yet for Samsung, AI is not new. We have been building intelligent connectivity into our devices for over a decade, as part of our continuous efforts to deliver deep and meaningful benefits to users through our technology and innovation. Having unveiled our “AI for All” vision at CES 2025 earlier this year, Samsung is on a mission to empower users through AI at every touchpoint.

We recently sat down with CU Kim, President and CEO of Southeast Asia & Oceania (SEAO), at Samsung Electronics, to discuss Samsung’s distinctive approach to AI in one of the world’s most diverse and dynamic regions. What emerges is a picture of innovation grounded in a deep understanding and vision of AI’s role in creating impactful, personal everyday experiences.

Q: How would you describe Samsung’s approach to AI in Southeast Asia and Oceania region?

A: We’re focused on democratising AI so that it delivers genuine value to consumers across different price points, regardless of their level of technical literacy. Today, 77% of SEAO users of Galaxy AI-powered devices are using our variety of Galaxy AI[1] features[2], which are available not just on our latest flagship models, but also on previous flagship models, FE and Tab series[3]. Users of our affordable A series range[4] can also enjoy AI features such as Circle to Search with Google[5] and Best Face[6] which selects and combines the best expressions for up to five people from a motion photo for a perfect shot.

What sets our approach apart is how we’re integrating AI to solve real challenges that consumers face. Take communication, for instance. Our translation features, which break down language barriers, is a useful tool to navigate our region’s incredible linguistic diversity. Our on-device Galaxy AI features can also operate independently without requiring constant cloud connectivity[7] – providing a reliable experience for SEAO users regardless of varying network infrastructure across the region.

Looking beyond mobile, we are extending this intelligence to our entire ecosystem of devices and appliances. Home AI learns from your habits and routines to develop a hyper-personalised smart home experience for you. This is underpinned by SmartThings[8], our smart home platform that connects and creates truly intelligent homes so you can have full control over your living space.

Q: How do you see AI transforming the landscape across Southeast Asia and Oceania?

A: With AI technology, consumers today have higher expectations of their day-to-day experiences whether in terms of efficiency, seamlessness and ease of use. For example, internal data is showing that AI capabilities such as the AI ProVisual Engine and Enhanced Search capabilities were the most sought-after AI features on our Galaxy S25 series among both Samsung and non-Samsung users. Even in households, consumers are looking out for smart features and functions when considering TV purchases[9], such as our latest line-up of OLED and Neo QLED TVs, which deliver a personalised and advanced viewing experience through their AI features.

In our region, we are deeply passionate about creating new possibilities for the next generation who are embracing AI with remarkable enthusiasm, optimism, and even a touch of resilience. In fact, based on a recent survey we conducted[10], a staggering 9 out of 10 youths in Southeast Asia are already incorporating AI tools and services into their day to day, whether for learning, creative tasks, staying informed, or more altruistic purposes like driving positive change in their communities. And while 65% of youth believe that AI will create new job opportunities, they are likewise cognisant that some jobs will inevitably disappear – further taking concrete steps to learn more about AI and develop AI-related skills.

Q: For businesses and organisations, how will AI shape Samsung’s growth strategy in the SEAO region?

A: The opportunities for businesses and organisations to tap into and benefit from AI in our region are tremendous. With SEAO’s rapidly developing digital infrastructure, businesses here are uniquely positioned to leapfrog legacy systems and implement AI-driven solutions from the ground up.

We want to bring our best AI-powered digital solutions to business partners. Through initiatives like SmartThings Pro[11], we are enabling businesses to create intelligent environments that enhance operational efficiency and customer experiences. This B2B platform is set to transform new categories and industries – for example, providing personalised and sustainable hospitality experiences to hotel guests; or enabling the remote management of displays and devices across multiple buildings in commercial facilities, from shopping malls to educational institutions.

That said, a key element of our B2B strategy is not just our technology, it’s our openness to foster close partnerships to create customised AI solutions that deliver meaningful outcomes. In Indonesia, we recently launched the Samsung Digital Lighthouse School program together with two schools, Al Muslim Bekasi and Salman Al Farisi Bandung, to enhance the learning experiences of over 2,500 students through the Galaxy Tab S and A Series.

Q: What excites you the most about upcoming innovations and what’s next for Samsung?

A: I’m particularly excited to see how our innovations empower communities to elevate passions. Gaming enthusiasts for example, will love the transformed mobile gaming experience on the Galaxy S25 series, with console-quality visuals enabled by features like ProScaler[12] and advanced Ray Tracing, powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite[13] for Galaxy processor.

Gaming is very important to us at Samsung, and we have partnered with Moonton Games to bring the first-ever MLBB Campus Series tournament to student gamers in SEA. This is part of Samsung’s Galaxy Gaming Academy[14] efforts to champion the next generation of esports players.

When it comes to everyday living, we have moved beyond simple device control to creating intelligent environments that anticipate needs. Samsung Health[15] and SmartThings7 can optimise sleep environments by automatically adjusting temperature and humidity based on users’ sleep patterns and the environmental conditions they live in[16].

By maintaining our focus on accessibility, personalisation and security, we’re working to ensure that AI becomes a trusted companion that empowers instead of complicating daily life. Our upcoming innovations like the new Galaxy S25 Edge smartphone and the Bespoke AI home appliances with SmartThings7, for example, will continue to embody this commitment. The future of AI is not about replacing human capability but enhancing them. At Samsung, we are privileged to be building that future together with the communities across SEAO in time to come.

[1] Galaxy AI features are currently free of charge, with any specific plans for premium AI services to be decided in close coordination with our partners. There are currently no plans to charge for Galaxy AI features, however different terms may apply to other AI features provided by third parties, at the end of 2025.

[2] This is based on Samsumg’s internal data on AI usage rate in Southeast Asia and Oceania among users of Galaxy AI powered devices

[3] Availability and features may vary by market and/or model.

Dr. Hon Pak, Senior Vice President and Head of Digital Health Team, Mobile eXperience Business, Samsung Electronics

With over 25 years of experience in the medical field and now as Head of Digital Health team at Samsung Electronics, I spend a lot of time contemplating how technology can truly drive progress in healthcare, rather than being just another innovation for innovation’s sake. That’s why I’m very excited about AI as it offers new ways to address existing problems by simplifying complexity and at scale.

In our ongoing work to reimagine wearables, Samsung is leveraging advanced AI algorithms and extensive technical expertise to develop solutions like Energy Score[1]. This feature quantifies physical and mental energy levels through multiple indicators including sleep[2], heart health and physical activity. Our vision is to include more comprehensive metrics like nutrition, mental health, and additional mobile usage patterns to provide a holistic view of users’ health status, powered by AI.

AI likely holds great promise for potential early disease prevention through analysing patterns and behaviors, detecting abnormalities, and even predicting potential health issues[3]. By combining our long-standing sensor innovations with AI capabilities, we aim to bring greater awareness to users improving their wellness through wearables.

Our goal is to support individuals pursuing their wellness journey. I strongly believe that AI will revolutionise the digital health industry and simplify the wellness journey for everyone. As a global tech leader, Samsung is uniquely equipped to make this a reality with our mix of technology innovations and a growing ecosystem of partners.

By Won-joon Choi, EVP & Head of R&D Office, Mobile eXperience Business at Samsung Electronics.

We are at the beginning of the most exciting, and probably one of the most historic moments in technology. The era of mobile AI is here – which for Samsung opened up by the introduction of Galaxy AI[1] features on the Galaxy S24 series, our first AI phone.

Revolutionising Mobile Experiences with a Hybrid AI Approach

To bring the real life benefits of generative AI technology to the Galaxy S24 series[2], we took a hybrid approach to our AI integration. AI offers so many possibilities, and we believe mobile devices are the primary access point for unlocking its potential as users around the globe continue to rely on their phone for most of their day to day needs.

The essential role that mobile devices play in everyday life means they are very personal items that people use during many critical and memorable moments. We understand these behaviors and believe smartphones should work harder so that users can truly make the most of important moments in a simple and intuitive way.

We believe our hybrid approach is the most practical and reliable solution to meet all these needs and puts Samsung ahead of the curve. We are providing users with a balance between the instant responsiveness and security of on-device AI, and the versatility of cloud-based AI through open collaborations with industry-leading partners in offering a variety of functions they need for daily life.

Expanding Possibilities with On-device AI

We made the ‘Live Translate’[3] feature on-device AI based, because voice calls are the most basic feature of a smartphone, yet also an intimate and private means of communication. Samsung has committed to empowering users to communicate without language barriers, while at the same time ensuring every communication is safe and private.

To make this feature a reality, our R&D team worked day and night as part of a collaborative process that truly brought out the best in our teams. From determining the right size of AI language models, to training and testing in real-life scenarios, our R&D organisations within the MX business challenged themselves and pushed beyond the limits of what we thought was possible to get this feature running entirely on-device.

Samsung’s global R&D networks around the world, which are in charge of growing the best talents and developing core technologies in each region, have also played a pivotal role. Samsung Research Centers around the globe, including Poland, China, India and Vietnam have dedicated themselves to developing and expanding the languages[4] supported by Galaxy AI. Languages are very cultural, contemporary, and localised so to help people break down language barriers and communicate more naturally, the role of our local R&D offices is even more crucial in opening up new possibilities for users in more regions than ever before.

All these efforts have enabled Samsung to offer something completely new which I’m excited to share. Soon, Samsung is extending the power of Galaxy AI beyond Samsung’s own native calling app by expanding Live Translate to other third-party message apps to support voice calls[5]. So you can stay in contact with friends or colleagues, communicating on your favorite apps in multiple languages.

And since this feature has been integrated into our on-device AI language translation model, users will be able to experience barrier-free communication without worrying about security issues when using Live Translate.

I expect that more and more mobile AI features will be incorporated inside mobile devices as the intelligent computing power of the latest chips – particularly NPUs – advances at a blazing fast speed, along with other technologies. This will enable more people to embrace AI and make every day more convenient while offering greater peace of mind.

Growing Galaxy AI for Tomorrow’s Needs, Today

This exciting news is all part of the extension of our commitment to Galaxy AI and entering the next phase of the mobile AI era. The introduction of Galaxy AI on Galaxy S24 series was only the start. To deliver a completely new and unique AI experience, we will further optimise the Galaxy AI experience for the upcoming foldable devices. Our foldables are the most versatile and flexible form factor in Samsung Galaxy and when combined with Galaxy AI, these two complementary technologies will together unlock all new possibilities.

Samsung is also committed to expanding Galaxy AI experiences across the broader Galaxy ecosystem in a way that only Samsung can. As the mobile AI era moves forward at a rapid pace, Samsung is accelerating mobile AI innovations to meet the needs of not only today, but tomorrow.

[1] Samsung does not make any promises, assurances or guarantees as to the accuracy, completeness or reliability of the output provided by AI features. Certain Galaxy AI features requires Samsung and Google Account. Internet connection may be required to use some features. AI Features will be provided free of charge until the end of 2025 on supported Samsung Galaxy devices.

[2] Some AI features from Galaxy S24 series may not be available at previous generation models.

[3] Network connection and Samsung Account required. Currently limited to select languages only. See website https://www.samsung.com/au/smartphones/galaxy-s24-ultra for full list of available languages. Live Translate feature must be enabled and language package must be downloaded prior to use. Only available on the pre-installed Samsung Phone app. Translation might not be accurate.

[4] Supported languages include Chinese, English (India, United Kingdom, United States), French, German, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portuguese (Brazil), Spanish (Mexico, Spain, United States), Thai and Vietnamese.

[5] The availability of this feature in Australia is yet to be confirmed.

Earlier this year, Samsung established the era of mobile AI on Samsung devices with the launch of the Galaxy S24 series, and committed to introducing Galaxy AI[1] on a wider range of devices. True to this promise, Samsung is now bringing Galaxy AI to Galaxy Watch, enhancing its popular health features. By combining powerful on-device AI with the extensive Samsung Health app, Samsung is on the path to building some of the most personalised health experiences yet.

Advanced intelligence for more holistic insights and motivation

Samsung has been on a mission to deliver an advanced health and wellness experience, starting by utilising meaningful and actionable insights to help you gain a better understanding of your wellness. Now, by combining Galaxy AI with Samsung Health, new health features will provide you with comprehensive insights, along with motivational encouragement to help you improve your daily wellness. With Energy Score[2], you can receive a better understanding of your daily patterns through a combined analysis of your sleep time average, sleep time consistency, bed/wake time consistency, sleep timing, previous day activity, sleeping heart rate and heart rate variability[3] to help you take on your day. Plus, Wellness Tips[4] can help you reach your personal health goals by offering insights, motivational tips and guidance based on the specific goal you’re looking to achieve.

Greater precision and accuracy

Accurate and comprehensive metrics are foundational to the best intelligent health experiences. Enhanced health algorithms and advanced tracking tools will provide more holistic, personalised and actionable insights when combined with AI. Since good health starts with a good night’s rest, Samsung is enhancing our sleep AI algorithm to provide additional in-depth sleep insights. Newly added sleep indicators for Sleep Insights[5] offer you a more detailed and accurate analysis of your sleep quality so you can better understand your sleep patterns and build better habits. These added metrics include movement during sleep, sleep latency, heart rate and respiratory rate during sleep in addition to previously supported metrics like snoring hours, blood oxygen level and sleep cycle.

All-new fitness features offer intelligent and effortless physical capacity measurements for more tailored training, which are traditionally provided by highly advanced equipment. In addition to the five running intensity levels of the Personalised Health Rate Zone, new detailed Aerobic Threshold (AT) / Anaerobic Threshold (AnT) Heart Rate Zone[6] metrics support efficient running while also quickly analysing performance. Plus, cyclists can easily calculate Functional Threshold Power (FTP) metrics in just 10 minutes[7] and train like a pro by using a personalised power index based on AI data analysis to maximise performance. Fitness tracking tools also help you track workouts and progress with greater convenience. With the new Workout Routine, combine various exercises for a personalised workout and seamlessly transition to the next exercise without stopping. Stay motivated and track your progress when running or cycling using Race[8], which compares current and past performance on the same routes.

“By expanding the power of Galaxy AI across our ecosystem, we’re looking to open up all new possibilities with optimised and connected experiences that offer users greater personalisation and intelligence,” said Junho Park, VP and Head of the Galaxy Ecosystem Product Planning Team, MX Business at Samsung Electronics. “The introduction of Galaxy AI to Galaxy Watch is just the beginning of this process and we’re excited to showcase even more integrations across our Galaxy portfolio very soon.”

These new features will be available on the next Galaxy Watch line-up via One UI 6 Watch, available later this year. This is only a small taste of what we have in store for our users, and we can’t wait to show the full power of Galaxy AI when integrated with the advanced hardware upgrades coming to the new Galaxy Watch series. Stay tuned for more.

[1] Samsung account login may be required for certain Samsung AI features. Samsung does not make any promises, assurances or guarantees as to the accuracy, completeness or reliability of the output provided by AI features. Availability of Galaxy AI features may vary by device model. Galaxy AI features will be provided for free until the end of 2025 on supported Samsung Galaxy devices.
