Samsung Australia has today received two Canstar Blue Innovation Excellence Awards, achieving the five-star accolades in the “Smart Devices” and “Home Entertainment” appliance categories for its Galaxy Z Flip4 smart phone and 2023 Television line-up respectively. In 2023, Samsung was the only brand to receive multiple Canstar Blue Innovation Excellence Awards in the appliance category.

In taking out top honours, Canstar Blue judges deemed Samsung’s 2023 Television line-up and the Galaxy Z Flip4 smart phone as ‘game-changing breakthroughs’ in their sectors. With Canstar Blue adding ‘Smart Devices’ as a new ‘Appliances’ subcategory this year, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4 smart phone wears the inaugural badge, setting a benchmark for future innovation.

360 Audio Recording: Capture the World as You Hear it

The new 360 Audio Recording feature[1] empowers users to capture sound on video, precisely as they hear it. Pairing Galaxy Buds2 Pro with a Galaxy smartphone, everyone can film like a pro and capture high-quality, realistic audio for video without the need for bulky professional equipment, anytime, anywhere. The feature picks up 360-degree sound using a microphone in each earbud, placing viewers at the centre of a roaring festival crowd or beside a bubbling brook in the middle of a forest. Users can pop in connected headphones and playback the video on their device or social media channel to hear lifelike and immersive sounds that emulate an in-person experience.

Samsung Electronics Australia has today announced that UNDSCVRD, one of the world’s earliest TikTok music reality shows, is back for a second season. The nation-wide search for the country’s next up-and-coming recording artist takes place entirely on TikTok, asking undiscovered artists to post and tag their unique audition videos to get the attention of the show’s producers.

Returning after a successful run last year with Aussie music icons The Veronicas, this year UNDSVRD will feature global R&B artist Tkay Maidza[1], as mentor. Maidza has had a jam packed year, coming off a recent ARIA win for Best Soul/R&B release, headline tours in Australia and the US, and supporting arena tours for Dua Lipa in Australia and Billie Eilish in the US. Joining Maidza on UNDSCVRD will be accredited producer and writer, James Angus, and music video director Sam Evans.

Playing out as a daily documentary on TikTok, UNDSCVRD will showcase the journey of five budding artists as they work together on challenges and find their music identity through the creation of an original music track and accompanying music video. The four-week vertical video series will be broadcast exclusively on the @UNDSCVRD_artist TikTok channel with the first episode going live March 2023.

On the return of UNDSCVRD and her involvement in the show, Tkay Maidza said, “As someone who benefited from an artist development program, it’s a privilege for me to be able to give back and work with local artists to discover their musical potential.”

“Thanks to Samsung, UNDSCVRD is providing new artists with the opportunity to break into the music industry and I’m extremely excited to be included in that.”

Tkay Maidza will guide and coach each of the contestants, offering insights as they learn the ropes of the music industry and how to put a personal touch on their individual brands. Assisted by producers James Angus and Brooke Toia, UNDSCVRD artists will have the opportunity to evolve their music style and express it through the creation of their own original song.

Samsung Australia’s Garry McGregor, Vice President, Mobile Experience Division, said, “Our inaugural season of UNDSCVRD received so much love and support for the aspiring artists we have in Australia, we decided to launch a second season to continue nurturing our local musicians.”

“We’re excited to have the incredibly gifted Tkay Maidza join us as a mentor for season two, where she will support contestants as they develop their personal sound. It will be inspiring to see more hidden music gems unearthed through this experience.”

Each episode will be crafted to give the contestants a taste of the real world, including tips and tricks to cut through on TikTok.

The final TikTok episode will consist of a live concert in front of music industry executives and influencers with performances from each of the contestants as well as Tkay Maidza. Afterwards, each artist will have the opportunity to release their original single alongside a music video produced as part of the UNDSCVRD series with the winner going on to record a five-track EP.

Auditions for UNDSCVRD are open from today until 2 January 2023 with the final contestants announced on 10 January 2023. Entries may include newly uploaded content or by simply adding these tags to existing videos of a performance.

From January to October 2022, the number of foldable smartphones Samsung contracted to enterprise customers increased by 105% compared to the same period in 2021.[1]

With foldable smartphone shipments expected to reach 16 million units worldwide[2] – an increase of 73% year on year – the form factor is rapidly becoming mainstream, and shipments are expected to grow to 26 million units in 2023. The ease of multitasking on a large screen, and the powerful app optimisations for foldable devices, are helping drive adoption among enterprise users.

Benefits of Foldables for Enterprise Users

As companies shift towards work-from-anywhere policies, they are looking to technology for new ways to maximise productivity. Foldables have particularly attracted the financial services industry, where 74%[3] of a sample group of financial advisors say staying connected via mobile apps is important or critical.

Users can now quickly drag and drop email attachments in multi-view mode directly into DocuSign eSignature, seal deals quickly on the go with Samsung’s S Pen[11] and the dedicated Flex Mode signature.

Samsung Electronics Australia is excited to announce PNAU DJ SET, one of Australia’s hottest electronic acts, as the headliner for Flextival, an exciting music and visual event presented by Samsung Galaxy in celebration of the launch of its game changing, fourth gen foldable Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip.

The intimate gig will unfold at Sydney’s Cargo Hall, Overseas Passenger Terminal, for one night only on September 28, giving music lovers the chance to get up-close and personal with a host of top Australian talent.

Hosted by renowned MC Shantan Wantan Ichiban, PNAU’s DJ SET will take place against stunning digital visuals on a stage in the shape of a Galaxy Z Flip4 phone, supported by incredible acts including Set Mo, Dena Amy, Stacie Fields, dameeeela, Troy Beman and Madami.

Hot off their recent collaboration with Elton John and Dua Lipa, and remixing Elvis’ Suspicious Minds for Baz Luhrmann’s Hollywood blockbuster, PNAU members return to home soil early for this exclusive DJ set ahead of their forthcoming festival appearances.

The Galaxy Z Fold4 is the result of Samsung Galaxy’s enduring smartphone innovation and our most powerful smartphone yet. Z Fold4 combines Samsung’s collective mobile technology expertise to create a device with increased functionality whether opened, closed, or in Flex mode[10]. Furthermore, it is the first device to ship with Android 12L, a special version of Android created by Google for large-screen experiences, including foldables.

Galaxy Z Fold4 takes stunning photos and videos with an upgraded 50MP wide lens and 30x Space Zoom[17] lens. A variety of camera modes, including the larger Zoom map activated on Capture View Mode, Dual Preview, and Rear Cam Selfie are custom-built to take advantage of the unique form factor for increased capturing flexibility. Galaxy for the Planet

Since the launch of the Galaxy S22 series, Samsung has incorporated recycled materials not just in our packaging, but also in the hardware of our new products. These are the first steps in our Galaxy for the Planet initiative, which includes our continued incorporation of recycled plastics and the creation of new materials in partnership with leading sustainability partners. As we continue to pursue innovations in sustainable manufacturing, we are proud to announce that more than 90% of the new Galaxy Buds2 Pro is made with recycled materials[31]. The new Galaxy Z series also incorporates ocean-bound plastics into key components and 100 percent recycled paper for its packaging. We also reduced volume of the packaging up to 58%[32] compared to the first-generation Galaxy foldables. This equates to an avoidance of approximately 10,000 tons of carbon emissions from transportation this year[33].

Galaxy Z Flip4 complements users’ styles with premium designs in legacy colours: Bora Purple and Graphite, and new colours: Pink Gold and Blue[34]. The expanded Galaxy Z Flip4 Bespoke Edition[35] now available in 28 countries worldwide, offers glass colours and frame options that provide 75 combinations to choose from, allowing customers to completely control the look of their device. Samsung is also offering Bespoke Upgrade Care[36] for Galaxy Z Flip4 Bespoke Edition users, so they can change their device colour whenever they want to. The Galaxy Z Fold4 and Standing Cover with Pen[37] case are offered in refined colours that include Greygreen, Beige and Phantom Black[38].
