For those who remember folding their phone to hang up, the latest foldable smartphones from Samsung might feel nostalgic. However, they represent a marked evolution in smartphone innovation and design, created for today’s users.

With refined features, high-end cameras, powerful processors and impressive displays, they are no longer just flashy handhelds designed for early adopters, rather the future of smartphone technology globally.

“While earlier Galaxy Z Fold and Galaxy Z Flip phones paved the way for today’s models, our newest devices have iterated and incorporated more of what we know consumers want in a smartphone at a more accessible price point,” says Tiffeny Chung, Head of Mobile Marketing at Samsung Electronics Canada.

“With flagship-level features and performance, our brand new Galaxy Z Fold3 5G and Galaxy Z Flip3 5G boast some major improvements from previous devices, like water resistance[1] — a world first for foldables — and are crafted with our strongest aluminum and toughest glass available today[2].”

Unfold your world

Today we do more than just e-mail and send texts on our phones. They are mainstays in both our work and home lives, helping us stay connected and entertained 24/7.

Whether on the job or on the town, foldable smartphones from Samsung provide busy Canadians with next-level mobile experiences.

With the Galaxy Z Fold3 5G, the device combines flagship mobile features with new and exciting productivity and entertainment experiences.

With the S Pen[3], the first on a foldable device – and one of the most renowned products from Samsung, users can work smarter thanks to features like Flex Mode[4] and Multi-Tasking[5], where you can take a call on the top half of the device and take notes on the lower half.

“When you don’t have your laptop or tablet on hand, features like Multi-Tasking[6] are so important to the foldable experience because they provide users with PC-like productivity in the palm of their hand,” says Ms. Chung.

“Save groups of apps to the Edge panel to open them later for instant multitasking, or watch, chat, and write with up to three apps open at once[7].”

For those who prefer a more compact phone, the Galaxy Z Flip3 5G is a powerful companion. Not only do they come in 2021’s latest on-trend colours and with features like Flex Mode[8], users can also capture stunning content for their social feed hands-free[9].

When closed, the all-new, larger cover screen[10] provides simpler ways to pay, play and check notifications – all of which can be customized. And if you don’t have time to unfold the device for a selfie, the front screen uses the dual-rear camera to take pictures and give you a preview.

“The Galaxy Z Fold3 5G and Galaxy Z Flip3 5G offer unique features and benefits that were designed to meet and exceed the needs of today’s smart phones users – especially those who see their smartphone as their most important tool and most expressive accessory,” says Ms. Chung.

Strong and durable

With past foldable devices, Samsung has acknowledged the need for increased durability. This time around, with IPX8 certification[11], Armor Aluminum, and Gorilla Glass Victus, the Galaxy Z Fold3 5G and Galaxy Z Flip3 5G are the strongest phones yet from Samsung[12].

These devices are durable enough for you to feel confident when tossing them in your bag or pocket, yet stylish enough to show off when taking Instagram-worthy selfies,” says Ms. Chung.

Immersive viewing experiences

One of the most innovative features on the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3 5G is its Under Display Camera.

Samsung engineered the screen with an overlay of pixels spaced on top of the camera hole, effectively hiding it while you watch content on the unfolded, 7.6-inch screen[13].

“It’s remarkable,” says Ms. Chung, adding that the main display also boasts a 120Hz refresh rate, which offers smoother visuals and less motion blur.

The future has arrived

The latest Galaxy Z Series 5G smartphones unlock exciting new experiences only possible on a foldable device, a category currently dominated by Samsung.

Ms. Chung points to global surveys showing market demand for foldable smartphones is expanding rapidly, with estimates suggesting up to 6.5 million units will be purchased in 2021[14], which is triple the amount from last year.

“From pre-order through to retail availability, consumer interest in the new Galaxy Z Series 5G has exceeded our expectations,” she says. “We believe Canadians are ready and excited to embrace this new standard in mobile.”
