Samsung Canada donates $100,000 to the Canadian Red Cross for continued flood relief efforts in B.C.
Samsung supports the Red Cross in its efforts to help communities impacted by recent floods and extreme weather in B.C. as the need persists for emergency shelter and financial aid
As communities in British Columbia work to rebuild following a series of floods that led to a provincial state of emergency being declared in November, Samsung Canada has donated $100,000 to the Canadian Red Cross in support of continued relief efforts.
Hundreds of properties currently remain under an evacuation order, with thousands of B.C. residents left displaced. Nearly two months after the flooding and extreme weather events across the province, the Red Cross continues to provide emergency support services and essential items to affected communities, including emergency shelter, cots, blankets, and clean-up kits, in addition to direct financial assistance to impacted individuals.
The donated funds from Samsung will support ongoing operations, such as in-person Red Cross reception centres as well as mobile Red Cross emergency response teams, which are deployed for communities and evacuees who can not otherwise reach fixed sites or access virtual supports.
While immediate emergency relief efforts during and following a natural disaster are essential, Samsung Canada is committed to supporting ongoing relief efforts, including the long-term recovery of individuals and communities impacted.
