Samsung Canada launches Samsung News, connecting Galaxy users to a personalized, seamless news experience
Samsung Canada has launched Samsung News, a new way for Canadians to experience everyday news in one convenient place on their Samsung Galaxy device. With morning and evening briefings, custom feeds, and more, the innovative features of Samsung News’s allows users to experience their news in a seamless format that works best for them.
Launching in beta, Samsung News is an update to Samsung Free. Users who already have Samsung Free on their device will notice the icon change to Samsung News when their apps are updated. All other users will be able to access the app by downloading it directly from the Samsung Galaxy Store. At first, Samsung News will be available on select smartphones, with the full roll out to all addressable devices coming shortly.
“With Samsung News, Canadians can enjoy access to a timely, curated selection of news tailored to their individual preferences,” said Jihoon Lee, President and CEO, Samsung Canada. “We recognize many Canadians are increasingly consuming news on their devices and we are proud to offer Galaxy users a seamless, personalized news experience in the palm of their hand.”
Samsung News will offer users three easy ways to find news within the app:
- Daily Briefings: Delivered twice a day (Morning Briefing and Evening Briefing), Samsung is working with a team of experienced news editors to bring users the top headlines of the day, all in one place.
- News Feeds: Users will be able to view a feed of news from Samsung’s partners, categorized and organized for easy access, and in the “Following” tab users can update their preferences to customize the news they see.
- Podcasts: Users will be able to listen to their favourite news and entertainment podcasts directly within the Samsung News app.
